Spiraling

Time continues forward, whether you want it to or not. But it does not go in a straight line like it should.

It circles. It loops.

Back to the start. Begin again and again.

Things repeat.

You. Repeat.

It's suffocating. Stagnating. There is no change in this. Everything is the same- everyone is the same.

Except for you.

If you change, then so do they. New words, new paths. Different, all different and new.

Time marches forward. Then it drags you back.

No, not- not back. Because you remember. You are not the same. The things that you have done, that you have witnessed, they would be erased if time were truly circling.

It's not a circle at all, not really. Not when you keep adding new dialog. Keep mixing things up and pushing for new ways out.

Time moves forward and then drags the hand of every clock back, but not you. Never you.

You cannot change who you are. What you are. But you can keep changing the story. Keep altering the narrative.

Change is in your nature, rooted in your being. If you cannot change yourself, but you are also all that can change... You must find a way to keep diverging these characters. To keep time moving.

Afterall, what is a spiral if not a circle that refuses to connect?

Random thought, but Y’know how the Distortion’s door is yellow? And how The Yellow Wallpaper is about a woman losing her mind? And how they used to use Arsenic in Canary yellow paint? And Arsenic poisoning in very rare cases causes hallucinations? Do you think any of those are connected or am I just making shit up? I think the Yellow door is a reference to The Yellow Wallpaper, but the arsenic think might just be me overthinking.

It’s time to present the tma-Malevolent au character I’ve been hyping up for so long.

Adam Fry. Just a normal guy with no connection to the Spiral whatsoever. He totally isn’t The King in Yellow bound to his human form.

He’s not. I swear. Sweats

Anyway. My wife. I have so many plans for him. He has soooooo many interesting relationships with other characters, mainly Arthur and Kayne.

Those relationship breakdowns and extra art below because I will be rambling and going off.

For Arthur: they start out with heavy distrust on Arthur’s end. Somehow this man knows so much about these gods and avatars, who is he? And what is he?

But as the story progresses, and they have to save one another from the horrors, they slowly trust each other with Arthur opening up about why he’s going to New York (to find Daniel) and same with Adam (to defeat Kayne)

Though Adam does lie about what he is, saying he was a captive to Kayne with his own “branding” and he managed to escape. (Letting another man tattoo his mark on you? Damn, that’s gay as hell)

Adam begins to empathize with humans because of Arthur, only ever viewing them as beneath him before. But he realizes he’s just a flawed as anyone else and he has to rely on other people.

(My excuse for drawing this is for the mark. Definitely not because he’s very hot)

Now Kayne. Oh Kayne. You know it’s gonna have divorced doomed yaoi.

I won’t say much because I have a comic I want to draw of those two but, Kayne performs the Web ritual (with underlying connections to the Eye) and he bounds the King in Yellow to his human form as a part of a mutual agreement and for the other god’s protection from the Eye.

But Kayne seemed to change, to grow more corrupted than usual and even treated the King as below him. So he leaves, taking on the name Adam Fry to find a way to defeat or kill Kayne.

Kayne sends spider like sentries after the King to watch and to make sure he’s ok. Because they still love each other, even though Adam can’t bear to think about him.
