Imagine being the spouse of Link. Seeing the good, the bad and the ugly throughout it all.

Most would think it would be a joy being with him; just for his looks, the fame, the money, etc. Reality, it's none of those since you know him so well. It did garner unwelcome attention on you at first, but you learned with the help of him to not let them nerve you nor sway you. Being called all sorts of names was not pleasant at first, yet your Link would stand behind you with a displeased frown on his face and sending an anger glare to the person/s.

It's typically trial and error in this relationship; that you did learn much about. It's definitely not some sort of fairy tale bliss where everybody is happy and living in joy day to day.

There would be days where he didn't want to be around anyone. As much as he loved entertaining the kids in the village, he just needed to away from them to think. You let him, guiding people away with a simple, "he's busy with his own deals, please give him some space."

Possibly ended up having to chase the teenagers to young adults away from him with a broom or sic Epona/Red on to them.

There would be days where it was hard when he was long gone, yearning for him to be near and not far.

Staying up late with worry, possibly crying in frustration that he was dragged away from you. Sometimes, it's due to revisiting old memories that made you cringe at the arguments you both had before. Ones dealing with stress or the other of you yelling at him to be more careful.

He knows ideally he's not husband material since he's always needed by the kingdom. He's always apologizing when he comes home. Bringing gifts from the corners of Hyrule, but you wanted to tell him you care not for them as much as you appreciate the thought behind it. You just want him home and safe, close to sleep, holding you tight while peppering kisses across your face. To ride with him, do domestic things, adventuring and finding new things together.

Instead, you quietly take the gift, setting it on the table, thanking for him thinking of you and for the gift. You went into his embrace, sighing in relief and delight when they curled around you, making your heart soar. He sways you both back and forth, humming a soft tune, maybe one of old or one that's new.

You'll do your routine with him and he happily lets you fuss over him. Checking for new wounds, any serious injuries before giving a pleased nod to yourself or to him. Fixing him a hefty meal from the long travels, taking his adventuring clothes and getting them in a wash bin while putting his sword, chainmail, and shield up for the week/s.

Checking off what needs to be done or refixed in your mind, all while he watches you with a lazy content smile from his spot on the chair.

"Bath time," was all you said as you gathered the fresh clothes out of the drawer. A light snicker left your lips as a sharp breeze ran past you. He was always excited to bathe with you.

No relationship is perfect, that is true, it always depends on how you both deal with the issues and get through it together. Coming out stronger in the end.

With him? You'll do it every time. Just as he will with you.

The 1975 Concept Album (Detailed)

'A Sight For Sore Eyes' by The 1975

I did the 1975's job and came up with some (lots) of ideas for their sixth studio album. Coming (never) to stores December 2024!

Ideally, it would be a guy in a black coat walking through a park, this kinda shot like the image below on the left. And the back of it would have the band in a park in the middle of the night, sitting on a bench with a street lamp right next to them. Healy would be leaning against the lamp, the rest of the band would sit on the bench, with one of them lying down in their laps. They face away from the camera. The shot would like the image below on the right.

Story

This, in my deranged, delusional head, is a concept album that follows a single narrative from the perspective of a single person. 

It follows a rockstar who can't remember the day before, permanently in a state of amnesia, but felt entirely compelled to create, perform, and fall in and out of the obsession. He falls in love, obsesses over a muse, yearns to be remembered, to be immortalised. Over the course of the story, he explores his relationship to art, sex, politics, drugs, the ephemerality of life and music, and optimistic nihilism. 

The story is linear - with him finding meaning in the lack of meaning.

Every song has specific inspirations! Most tracks have a specific inspiration from one of their (The 1975's) songs, and another one. Most are inspired by the sound not the lyrical content. Another note: Ideally, they would all transition perfectly into the next, but be able to stand well on their own as well.

Fresh, nostalgic rock sound.

Story starts...The protagonist is in a bad state. He doesn't want to perform, but thousands are waiting. He's resentful to everybody. He owes it only to himself to prove that he can do it.

NOTE: This would have a music video, in my head I picture Harris Dickinson, with like 5 minutes straight of dialogue directed by Noah Bombauch. Looks very A24. Each band member would make a cameo.

3. Spilt Milk (Yes, this is a reference to Milk)

Strings, drama, cinematic quality.

He can't remember who he is, he doesn't recognise anybody he loves. He awakens with no memory, and then meets her. He must create.

4. Clíodna (Reference to Celtic goddess of the sea, the Otherworld, passion and love, and deep beauty)

Gospel, bluesy, rock-funk, choir, piano.

He's confused by everything - except for her. He clings to her, he is desperate for a muse. Someone to idealise. He hates himself for it, his self-awareness getting the better of him, but not enough to stop himself from putting her on a pedestal.

5. Make Me Immortal (I don't know why this title, don't question it)

Song inspiration: All I Need To Hear by The 1975 + I Wish I Knew How It Would Feel To Be Free by Nina Simone

Soul piano ballad, jazz, gospel, blues.

He must compose, he must write. He must be an artist. He starts expressing his deep seated need to be remembered, despite his own lack of memory. He wants to be heard in an endless crowd and be understood. He faces his mortality, his mighty imagination, and even considers religion. Things get really political and confusing.

6. Stand Out (In A Crowd) (Every song title from here on onward is totally random)

Stripped back, calm, vulnerable, acoustic.

Away from the crowd, he returns to his muse. His muse doesn't recognise him anymore, but he hasn't changed - she has. He is stuck permanently, forgetting himself, the world, not quite growing up. Who is he without her? Who is he?

Song inspiration: Please Send Me Someone To Love by Fiona Apple + Buddy's Rendevouz by Father John Misty and Lana Del Rey

Jazz ballad, blues, strings.

She's gone. He turns to alcohol and dreams of memories that never happened. if he can't have her, he'll have materials, substance, and he will be remembered. Commentary on people's dependency on materials and lack of connections.

Acoustic interlude, fast-paced guitar driven, end with quiet strings and real external audio (of family, friends, news, etc)

Observations of the world, questioning his place as an artist in the grand scheme of things. Does this even matter? He's trying to move on from her. He sees the hope in people, humanity, but where is it in him? Is art selfish? He doesn't know. He knows we don't know either.

Anyway, life sucks, but at least materials are cool. Capitalism doesn't suck all the time. The government has failed us and we've become desensitised, ignorant pricks. Next club?

He's wondering how she's doing. He can't remember how it all went down. He just remembers the feeling. He's starting to think adulthood is getting worse - drugs and aging are making it harder to make new friends. Was it always this hard making friends? He starts to reminisce of home, childhood friends. Do they remember him? Do they think of him when they see his name? Does he remember them?

Britpop, shoegaze, cinematic, pop-rock ballad.

On stage, vulnerable. This might be the only place he feels truly loved. No matter how much he forgets, he will never forget the feeling, the pure thrill, of performance. He pleads to the crowd to love him forever. Immortalise him. He reveals he has been hiding a new muse (he doesn't remember her), he won't make the same mistake (he doesn't know what it was).

Britpop power ballad, cinematic, hard-rock, slow buiild.

He's back where he started - not wanting to perform. He's crashing from the intense substance abuse. He wants to remember. He can't remember how it feels to be hugged anymore. This time he doesn't bite the bullet, and doesn't go out. He wants to call his dad.

Ends on a voicemail to his dad because he isn’t remembered.

END OF ALBUM.

Anyway, this was all for funsies. I'm excited for whatever album they'll release next, I am really pulling and praying for a bluesy/rock album. Get religious and political, have some epic references to mythology even, you know? Whatever they do, whether it's another 80s synth party, or electro ambience, or heavy metal, I'm sure they'll smash it out of the park.

Oh, to dote on tense boys who spend waaay too many hours hunched over, working at their computer keyboards. How would Ray, Suit Saeran, GE Saeran, and Unknown respond to a nice shoulder massage to take the edge off?

Ray isn't the kind of person who will accept somebody spoiling him. He wants to be the person that takes care of everybody else, the person that takes care of you, so the idea that you would have to sully your hands by touching him would make him feel like he wasn't good enough.

In an ideal world, you would never think about doing something like that to him because he would be taking care of you all of the time and there would be no moment for you to realize that he was exhausted. Because he could never be exhausted in a world where he gives you everything you deserve.

That's how he feels about that and there's no other way for him to perceive the world. But, he will melt into your touch the minute he feels it on his skin. Even if he feels like he's nothing but a disgusting mess, he still yearns to feel you next to him.

Suit Saeran is the least likely to allow you the opportunity to touch him like that. Do you really think that you can make him feel better with something as ridiculous as that? If you bring up the question in any capacity when he's in a sour mood, then you're never going to be able to get the opportunity to do so. The only natural way to get him to agree to that sort of thing would be to push him into a corner with reverse psychology.

He more or less has to be tricked into allowing himself the opportunity to be taken care of. Is that the best thing in the world? No, it's not, but when it comes to somebody like him… Good luck even getting close but much less being allowed the opportunity to help his tense shoulders that feel like a rock. Do you really think a toy like you could do something like that for him? Do you really think those useless hands of yours could ever do anything to make him feel good?

That's the mentality you're going to get. However, if you do manage to get him to agree to it, you'll find him sitting in a chair rather grumpy, with a sour look on his face until you begin to touch him. It won't take long before he crashes, feeling way too good for somebody of his position, and it'll likely backfire in the end. He's not supposed to feel good in any way because feeling good is what gets you tortured, but hey, the five seconds you get of bliss are worth it, right? 

GE Saeran doesn't mind at all! He is the last person in the world to turn you away when it comes to any form of affection. If you think doing that is going to make him feel better, he is already moving things out of the way to make sure you have a better position to do that.

He is comfortable in his skin now and he doesn't feel any doubts when it comes to the question of if he deserves to be taken care of or not. He doesn't feel any doubt when it comes to that because he knows his value now and he doesn't need anybody to prove it to him. All he needs to do is look in the mirror and remind himself that he is worthy. It's true, he is.

So, go ahead, offer your hands and time. He'll melt away with the rest of the tension he feels in his chest. He is nothing but putty in your hands and you should not forget that fact for a second. It is an honor to be trusted enough by him to be given the opportunity to do something like that. He's still learning how to let people in his bubble but you are always the one that is allowed no matter what he feels. You bring comfort to him.

Unknown is the last person in the world you want to touch because he will not hesitate to grab your hand and teach you a lesson. He doesn't like to be touched and he doesn't want anybody to control his aches and pains. Those are the only things that help him feel alive after living in a world of apathy for so long.

Pain is the only pressure that reminds him he's in his body because there's nothing else left that matters. Even if he's hunched over and you want to do something about it, he will growl and grit his teeth if you try to make it better.

Without a shadow of a doubt, if you managed to convince him to allow you to take care of him like that, you wouldn't be able to do it for long, and you would cry about how tense his shoulders feel. They're hard as a brick. If he does give you the opportunity to do it, he will enjoy it much more than he will ever confess. You'll never know that, but it's still worth noting.

About your recent post, I first wanna say that I’ve been obsessed with Two Worlds Among the Stars ever since I first discovered it, and even if chapter 8 is a filler episode I’m sure myself and many others will still love it!

I don’t have too many ideas, but something I’d like to see in the next chapter is Noah’s true feelings starting to shine through, even if just barely. Maybe Noah could begin to realize that he can trust John, even if he doesn’t realize that he realized it yet (that probably makes no sense but I’m not sure how else to phrase it lol). It makes sense (to me at least) for it to be a chapter of slow new beginnings. Some of the stuff I mentioned might work well as a focus for chapter 9, so chapter 8 could be leading up to it.

Also, I completely understand the frustrations that come with having no idea what to write for the next part in a series, it can be VERY annoying. I hope you’re able to overcome this though, and good luck on writing the next chapter! I’ll be looking forward to it, even if it takes longer than usual.

Before I get into detail, let me just say that I'm gonna treasure this ask forever. Everytime I read something like this from one of my readers I want to hug that person so bad, because I'm just so thankful.

Like I said in this post, I don't care if my story isn't seen by hundreds of people, literally doesn't matter to me if my story has 20 or 2000 readers. I care about what my readers think of my story (like every writer) and ofc I'd like to know what they think.

I didn't reply to any of those yet, because here is what I wanna do...

I'm going to list every idea and leave my two cents and... just ramble a bit? You won't believe how much rambling helps when I'm having trouble to write a chapter.

1. Anon:

When it comes to writing the change in Noah's (and John's) character, I like to sorta... sprinkle in little pieces of those changes. Like Noah secretly yearning for affection in chapter 7.

And I think that's exactly what chapter 8 is missing, because in chapter 9 (and the one after that) there's going to be a major shift in Noah's and John's relationship because... stuff happens and things get revealed :) You're in for some sweet hurt/comfort mixed with some fluff. (Super excited to write those two chapters, but being stuck at the one before that aaaaaaahhhhh)

But this shift needs to feel natural. So like you've said Noah's more vulnerable side needs to shine through, but I just... Dont! Know! How! Because while I want/need to sprinkle in one of those small soft moments, it can't be anything major.

For example: Noah yearning for affection -> John figuring that out right away and just giving it to him -> too rushed, doesn't feel natural, boring

So yes everything you've said is true, I just don't know how to write it :')

Veeeeeery unlikely. The people from Noah's village don't care about him. He's just another orphan, it's not like they don't have enough of those already. And even if there are some people who took pity on him in the past, they certainly don't care enough to put their on life in danger. All of them "know" what happens when they cross the river, so no one in their right mind is gonna do that anytime soon.

2. @coffehbeans:

John questioning if he is doing the right thing.

Oooohhh boy, trust me John is questioning all of his life choices that led up to this point. He knows their situation is less than ideal, but what other choice does he have? (-> John's pov in chapter 4). He's already going behinds his chief's back by keeping Noah a secret and not immediately informing him about the situation, he won't dig his hole even deeper by bringing the human back and risking that more humans come to his place (or giant territory in general). He's doing damage control, but mostly he's trying to maintain the little control he's left. And let's forget that he's very much sailing uncharted waters.

John encounters someone that will make him question his decision.

I'm curious, who are you thinking of? Because like I said that someone being a human is off the table and a giant standing up for a human? One of John's tribe, that is hiding from Noah's kind? That doesn't care about humanity at best? Most of them might be against killing humans, but that doesn't mean they wanna mingle.

Introducing a character that actually cares about Noah.

I think I need to question all of my writing decisions, if you think John doesn't care :'D

He may not care about Noah on a personal level yet, but he definitely cares about his well-being, even though Noah doesn't get that (yet).

Let's just say someone is going to visit John (but not in chapter 8), but the situation is not gonna unfold in the way you described. All I'm gonna say is, there can't be comfort without hurt :)

Before I start I wanna say how much I enjoyed following your reading process :3 It's always fun to watch someone read my story "live". Absolutely love seeing a user leave a like on every chapter every few minutes, but it's even better when they reblog it aswell and leave a comment in the tags. Also really loved your insight and acknowledging that they both are overwhelmed and deal with raw emotions right now (would love to talk more btw). I think no one else on tumblr pointed that out yet.

As for your suggestions: That would be soooo in-character for them! Noah... for obvious reason, and John just doesn't know how to handle the situation and doesn't want to make it worse. If Noah wasn't sick this totally would've happened, after their "fight" in chapter 6.

I don't know if you read the 7th chapter, but with Noah being sick and acting so different in comparison to his usual self, John is worried and tries his best to help him, because even though they aren't on good terms John doesn't like to see the kid in pain.

To be clear I DON'T wanna belittle any of your ideas, I loved reading every single one of them! I just wanted to ramble (helps me a lot with getting a feel for my characters again after a long writing pause). Sadly I don't get character related asks very often, so I don't have many opportunities to just ramble/infodump/etc.
