the ending of impulse is so incredibly cruel and also almost gentle. max is gone forever and bart is separated from helen and his whole life is uprooted and he’ll never see his civilian friends again and nothing will ever be the same. but look jay is learning how to play video games to connect with bart and joan is cooking for him and hugging him and wally is just a phone call away. look how loved he is. we took away his entire life but look how loved he is anyway.
