"Oh, it didn't work out," Steve said shrugging his shoulders.

"Oh, don't worry too much about it, baby," Sue said, rubbing his shoulders. "You're going to find someone one day who sees you and loves you. I'm sure of it."

"You're my heart-mom. You have to be biased," Steve said.

"Doesn't mean it's not true," Sue said. "You're a wonderful young man, and any person would be lucky to have you."

"Thanks, mom," Steve said softly.

It still took him some getting used to. Despite the fact that he was older and he had once been an asshole, the Sinclairs wanted him as their son as soon as they had met him. They still wanted him around when he confessed to them about being bisexual. He knew at any moment that his birth parents could kick him out, but for now, it was a safe place for the kids to go to when they needed an escape, and if he had to, then he had a place to go to with his true parents, his true family. Lucas came rushing out of the gym, a beaming smile on his face as he rushed towards them. He hugged his parents first and then Steve.

"I'm so proud of you, baby," Sue said.

"Really?" Lucas asked.

"Of course, I'm proud of anything that you do that makes you that happy," Sue said.

"You did so good, son. You seemed to really enjoy yourself out there," Charles said.

"I did, loved it," Lucas said. "It was exhilarating."

"Man! That was awesome. That's what the team needed. They needed Lucas Sinclair," Steve said, beaming proudly.

"I couldn't have done it without your help, Steve," Lucas said.

"Yeah, you could have," Steve said.

"Okay, I wouldn't have wanted to do it without your help," Lucas said.

Steve laughed and hugged his little brother again. Lucas pulled back when he saw Hellfire spilling out with Erica. He glanced sadly at them. Steve placed a hand on his shoulder.

"Hey, they'll pull their head out of their asses eventually. They should have been here to support you. They could have postponed, you couldn't. Being interested in basketball is just as important as you being interested in D&D. You did nothing wrong. It's okay that you like both games," Steve said softly. "You want me to talk to them? Give them a stern talking to?"

"No, but thanks, Steve," he said softly.

"Charles, you need to talk to your daughter," Sue said, scoffing. "Unbelievable that she missed her brother's moment to take his spot in his other favorite game."

Charles laughed and she gave him a look.

"Oh, you're serious. You want me to talk to her, but honey, you're a lot scarier than I am," Charles said.

"Do you like sleeping on the couch?" Sue asked.

"I actually do. The back of the couch supports my . . . but not as much as I love sleeping next to you," Charles said. "I'll talk to her. Gladly."

"Hey, mom, dad? The guys wanted to take me out to celebrate. Would it be okay if I went?" Lucas asked.

Sue and Charles shared a look with Steve. They all talked about this with Steve when Lucas started playing. He had relieved their fears when he pointed out that Lucas was smart and that Lucas had something that Steve never had. . .supportive parents.

"I trust you to be smart and safe," Sue said softly, trying not to look too worried.

"You have a good head on your shoulders, Luke," Charles said. "I know you'll be careful."

"Look, if they try to get you to do anything that you don't want you to or you feel uncomfortable, you can say no. Don't pressure yourself into saying yes, and if you feel like they're pressuring you, then leave," Steve said.

"Yes, make sure you call us or your brother if you need us to come get you," Sue said.

"So, I can go?" Lucas asked and she nodded.

He grinned and ran up to catch up with Jason. Steve watched for a moment, hoping that Lucas would make better decisions than he did. He felt eyes on him, and he looked over to find Eddie Munson looking his way. Steve scrunched up his eyebrows. For a moment, he thought he could have sworn he had seen a look of guilt in Eddie's eyes, but it was gone, and he was scoffing at Steve in disbelief before walking away. Steve put his hands on his hips. Yeah, the next time he saw Eddie, he was definitely going to give him hell for hurting Lucas's feelings.

Okay, so I watched one or two Rathbone Holmes stories back in high school and decided I didn't like Nigel Bruce, but I've also seen you talking positively about the Rathbone Holmes movies/ episodes. I wanna preface by saying that I totally get the frustration of Nigel Bruce Watson- as much as I've come to care for this portrayal, there are still moments of disappointment? I feel? Mostly once you see all the potential in him before it gets unceremoniously dumbed down for the sake of comedy, and it can be trying sometimes, but I've learned to breeze past those moments and! There are definitely movies where he shines brighter than others! In the end, you may warm up to him or you may not, but I fully commend you on taking another chance :D

I did not really start off in broadcast order (my ass still hasn't seen rathbone and bruce's HOUN- bloody disgraceful lmao) and mostly watched in order of vibes, which seems to have worked out alright xD

I started off with Scarlet Claw, and after rewatching it this morning, I feel like it's an alright place to start! It's a good sort of mystery and there was enough element of equal partnership to get me invested in Holmes and Watson. But, I'd say it's still pretty lukewarm, enjoy it as I do, so to compound this long ass post lemme throw a list at you real quick of rathbone movies i strongly recommend-

The Pearl of Death:

Starting off with Pearl of Death not only for the 'Watson gathers the braincells' quality but because it's one of the genuine classics in the series- a brilliantly crafted movie from start to finish, and in my opinion, one of the better shot ones. This one is a good start, it's a bit slow in some places, but it's a good, neutral film that showcases I think some of the more concrete themes and brilliancy of the movies.

House of Fear:

I honestly dunno if I'm biased about this one, but it is genuinely one of my favourite movies of all time. It's the very second one I watched, and it's still in my nighttime viewing collection- I fall asleep watching this movie, which is a compliment I swear. Watson has a more active role, is genuinely trying his best for most of the runtime and falls more in line with 'genuine failure to succeed' more than just 'bungled it up for a gag'. It's a really, really excellent mystery and I adore Holmes and Watson's dynamic throughout- 10/10, freaking banger movie.

Pursuit to Algiers:

Then, of course, the Big Daddy herself- Pursuit to Algiers. This one falls less in line with a mystery (our baddies become pretty clear at one point) and more suspense, but man is that a good thing. The dang thing takes place on a boat for most of it, Holmes and Watson are attached to eachother like pairbonded shelter dogs and have the most balanced, affectionate of interactions, Watson gets to sing! And not to give away any spoilers (yeah shush, i know the movie's old) but a particular plot point happens in this movie and as a result, Nigel Bruce gets to do a genuinely heartbreaking piece of acting- seriously, there is a shot where he goes out onto the deck, completely silent of music and just looks out into the ocean that still has me unwell even after all this time. Goofy moments still happen in the movie, but they feel more organic, and overall there is a wonderfully grounded approach to Watson here- he's still silly, but it's a fun silly, and a silly that Holmes indulges in with him. The depth of affection between these two is ASTOUNDING in this movie, bloody unhinged behaviour. Great movie, do watch it :D

I'd say those three are, at least in my opinion, the best of the best! I do enjoy the others, but I think it best to venture into those once an affection has been developed, they do strain the patience a bit at times I'm afraid. (And it goes without saying, some of the movies have a definite propaganda vibe to them, which is charming sometimes and sometimes just grating, really depends on the day i think- none of the three movies listed above fall under this category though- and the of course, general warning for all the really poorly aged 1940s stuff, but you know that :>)

Except The Spider Woman. In really the bluntest of terms, fuck that movie, all my homies hate The Spider Woman, do NOT watch it (i'm only half joking, oh god its so bad)

First of all, Tales of Destiny for PS1 and Tales of Destiny Director's Cut for PS2 are fundamentally different games with two similar canons. The most obvious differences are with Leon, so we'll get back to that in a second

WHY DESTINY IS COOL AND AWESOME

Lovely cast!

Our main character Stahn is a very lovable idiot, he wants to help everyone and continuously reaches out to and believes the best of ppl. Maybe his kindness could be considered naive, but like. When you can believe in ppl and try to be friends with them no matter how prickly? C'mon now

Variety of dynamic characters with their own little arcs throughout the story!! These are much more fleshed out in the Director's Cut, but still present in PS1

Swordians

The consciousness of their previous wielder copied into a powerful sword!! A companion quite literally at your side :D they're pretty much their own characters, especially in DC

Don't worry abt the main plot. Like yeah the bad guys stole the eye of god (Atamoni in eng localization) which could potentially be a super dangerous tool/weapon that was originally sealed away after that last War(tm) that's distant history or whatever but Look at the little guys experiencing various agonies :33

The Swordians are also relics from the big history war but shhh

LEON

Your first meeting with him is when he kicks your ass during a battle and then arrests you

Only joins the party bc he's technically still your jailer keeping an eye on everyone while you go do a quest for the king

Non-spoilery differences between PS1 and DC:

Since Director's Cut offers a character selection at the beginning of the game (similar to Xillia) you can either play the regular game from Stahn's POV (still changed from PS1) or you can follow Leon, but Leon's side is moreso for a deeper look into his character after playing Stahn's side, since Leon isn't always with the party

Leon's and Stahn's characters in particular are handled a little differently. Stahn's personality and history are a little different, but imo not really noticeably. Leon's relationships with the party are less.. distant? There's more explicit showcasing maybe. Especially with how his final separation from the party plays out a lot differently, and it changes/makes more obvious some aspects of his character (positively imo), but also leaves his fate more ambiguous than in PS1

Overall, similar to how I feel abt Zesty, I think the characters really bring these games to life!! Destiny PS1 I liked more for its scenery, dungeon design, and puzzles, while DC I enjoyed for its character depth via skits and cutscenes and its battle system

If you can tell I'm biased toward Stahn and Leon,, yeahhh but I do enjoy other characters like Rutee (heroine) and Philia as well ✨✨

Rutee especially is very relevant to some of my Thoughts since she's one of the more pivotal characters, being the heroine and all

I'm A Bad Boy aspect to get his ratings up) and both of these instances were with women... BUT there's another thing. in Gorillaz, Ace also like??? grabbed Jamie's ass? I would say he's stealing his wallet but like... that's palm to cheek action there's no disputing it (ah sorry for the cropping I can't find the full image atm) of course, Gorillaz Ace is clingy, he is also shown touching Noodle and 2-D, but that was on the arm for both of them. this seems more. intimate

and this would lead me to believe that he does express a desire for men... and I do think he expresses a desire for women too! I don't see any reason you'd have a shirt with pinup girls all over it unless you like... liked girls... (suppose it could be ironically but I'm gonna go ahead and say it's not)

then, of course, he called Sedusa "hot" in Aspirations, further cementing he finds women attractive

and with all this said- I think it's safe to say that at the very least Ace is queer, there is evidence to be made(? wording?) for him liking men and women... but I don't think he would necessarily know the term bisexual, or identify as anything. I would say he struggled with his feelings for a long time... (I could go into detail why I think that is but this is already pretty long) Internalized Homophobia and all that basically, but I don't think that he ever had a moment where he was like "I am bisexual" I think he just kinda went "yeah I like a guy sometimes. so what. don't mind the ladies, either" idk it just seems like him not to worry too much about labeling himself- we know Murdoc and Noodle are actually the same way (to my knowledge 2-D and Russel have never elaborated on their sexualities) but this could also be biased because I hate assigning sexualities to characters that aren't ocs... I just find it limiting and a little bit disrespectful to unlabeled people (why do we feel the need to put everyone in boxes?) all I know is this guy likes guys and gals!

Actually getting to the point now:

1) yes yes Oda and Dazai's relationship is so dear to me I love them sm and I adore seeing Atsushi all caring for his mentor 😭 he's basically Dazai's emotional support cat!! Dazai let the boy in please I'm begging you he can purr probably and it would melt away your stress pls pls (Maybe everyone in the ADA sees Atsushi as their emotional support cat...)

2) Mori is a piece a shit, and you should be allowed to say it. I'm never biased in my writing but I loathe that guy with my very being and the whole people who like Mori thing really got me reconsidering...was *I* the bad guy for not liking a character when I actively liked a character very similar to him? Then I realised, I completely respect and treat equally all the people who don't like/hate Dazai. I don't treat them any different just because they don't like a character. And that's what I should expect too!

There's no post defending Dazai, and yet I still like him because I accept his wrongdoings and want him to keep getting better, like Oda told him to. Yknow, the argument would be MUCH different if Dazai was a woman and not a man, imagine bashing someone for liking a teen girl and not liking the guy who groomed her to be his heir. Yeah, really puts things into perspective. I'm not sexist, I treat (respectful) men and women equally, but Mori is just. No.

3) I haven't see it before in any canon source material but I feel like it's definitely true. It's clear that Dazai WANTS to want to keep living, but he can't bring himself to want it because of all the pain he's endured. He literally said in dark era that the reason he joined the mafia was to try and seek meaning in life by being close to death and violence. It's ironic, Dazai feels the most alive when he's about to LOSE that privilege. It could also mean that Dazai only realises the "value" in living when he's about to lose it. Perhaps he thinks of things he could've done, things he'll regret, and that helps him to stop before he actually does it. But in my opinion? I don't think he finds anything of worth in that time. He just convinces himself that he does. This is a personal hc but it's probably likely to be the case.

If you've listened to the song My R, you'll know exactly what I'm talking about.(totally recommend btw!).The girl in the song speaks to herself about her woes and the 'other' version of her comforts her telling her about all the things that she DOES have, but by the end of the song, she has lost everything of meaning and she can't comfort the "girl". It is only revealed that the girls she comforted are different versions of HERSELF that she stopped from jumping.

Anyways, in conclusion, SOMEBODY PLEASE GIVE THIS BOY A HUG HE DESERVES IT

3.) yes yes yessss!!! again, bringing personal stuff into it, i deal heavily with the whole topic of suicide and self harm. i've attempted twice and still deal with thoughts of it every single day, as well as self harm. so, this is one of my main reasons of dazai being my absolute favourite character, because of the representation and actual presentation of these topics. at first, we're shown them in a whimsical and whacky way, then it gets so much darker once we get into the dark era. it's a complete tonal shift, and it really sets in the gravity of the situation for him. and, as you said, he wants to have that ability to want to keep going and living, and he wants to be able to put the effort in, but he can't/ he physically cannot. as much as he would want to try, he can't. and yes, when he said that it fucking BROKE me fr. just at the chance that he's not able to keep living on anymore as a human is the one thing that keeps him alive, i fucking love asagiri's writing, it's so complex and beautiful. and its so so so real!!! youre literally right idc lmao. youve so eloquently said it im crying, youre putting all my thoughts into words <3

and yes!!! i have listened to the song, i absolutely LOVE it! and i never fail to think of dazai whenever i listen to it </3 and, i also think it's very very much like dazai, because of the multiple different versions we see of him too. chuuya hasn't exactly changed much, but he has gone through some very very complex and deep character developments, such as in fifteen and stormbringer. hes a lot more "tame" and respectful now, and a lot more mature. (except with dazai lmao) aku, we see he's changed slightly thanks to atsushi, but still no major character fucking flip arounds. all these characters we've watched slowly become better and more complex throughout the series. dazai? he just does 180s every single fucking year. hes different at 14 and 15 than he is at 18. hes different at 18 than he is at 20-22. and the different faces he puts on for each and every person, all his masks that he has. there's much variety to dazai; you never know what you'll get. there's so many different sides to him, because he doesn't know who he is. as odasaku saw him, "a lost child crying out". no matter the age, no matter the state, dazai is always going to be harbouring that broken child with him, trying to hide it and build up walls around it, because the only time he's ever shown it, he's gotten hurt or betrayed and lost some key figures in his life. trust issues much?

-i'm imagining for this au everyone's middle school aged, so still like, kids, just a bit older

-ignore the fact that i fucked up the colors on all the text i SHOULD have had the colors shift between lines it helps legibility but i didn't fsr??? i'll figure that out in later art dw

-GOD THESE COLORS TOOK FOREVER the og colors are SUPER desaturated and also more on the pink side of purple but I prefer to use saturated colors and wanted to go more towards the blue side of purple (than the colors are closer to complimentary colors between mysterion and kenny)

-ended up going with a very soft look (rounded edges and ovals and softer lines) i was thinkng off of the batman inspo actually and thinking about that scene in the lego batman movie where the brick notes batmans design isn't very hero looking, i mean it is by western standards but like when i think of a good hero and symbol of justice and hope i think of twintaild magical girls with ultra frilly skirts and cute mascots and sparkles and stars everywhere but like.. i'm biased.... anyway I chose the softer lines to make him feel softer and instead relied any edgy vibes on the colors and body language rather than the shapes (i mean i still used triangles but yeah)

-I ended up not going with brown boots cause i didn't want to have to tie in another color, and i had the epic idea of the little question mark symbols on the soles of the shoes and the m logo on the ... toungue i think it's called?

-so I originally wasn't gonna show his hair but I thought it would help to balance the colors more as the white shorts felt too bright

-i didn't plan to post this or else i would've tried to better phrase all the writing lmao

-i went with rounded feet to make him feel like, floaty?

-one smaller challenge was keeping a short stature for kenny while still making him look like, menancing and powerful, another reason why i went with the graceful floaty feet, I also had the shorts flair out with that triangle shape like they do to emphasize and blend together the general shape of the body

-miiight have accidentally made him more androgynous~ my ass spent years studying and learning how to make characters appear masculine than said 'yeah no thankyou everyone is going to be at least a LITTLE bit pretty <3'

-ah look how nice and not over crowded the doodles are... yeah say goodbye to empty space cause Cartman/theCoon's completely lacks it. I like drawing fluffy animal ears and found the need to label all the drawings "furry" or "menance" so yeah

-i'm that one bitch that says fuck canon even canon doesn't give a shit bout canon so why should i? and never draws kenny with blue eyes, always either light brown or preferrable purple. mostly cause i feel blue + blonde is too basic and I find that the purple makes for a nicer contrast and overall pallete. Cause brown kinda just blends in, cause then his entire color scheme is all within the same hue range, but purple sticks out better + leaning into the magenta side of it looks great with orange

-petition for the southpark fan wiki to acknowledge how fuckign similar Mysterion and the mysterious mare do well are

-funfacts!! considered having the buckles be silver instead of gold (changed to balance with the blonde hair and tie back in the orange/yellow hues) considered having the inside of the cape be a lighter shade of purple either pulling in more pink or blue tinted shades, changed cause it made the overall color scheme to bright

When I say Jacqueline dislikes tscs!Scott, I am not joking. It is not hyperbole. She can't STAND him. And she tells him that to his FACE. MULTIPLE TIMES. And adds insult to injury bc she's buds with Carol and Buddy and Sandy, lol, and all the new gen elves are like, chill with her

She was quite delighted at how Santa took that tale. Elaborated a bit. I imagine it went something like this:

"...you what?" Her murderous look intensified. Santa could easily picture the darkness gathering around her the way it did in cartoons when the evil character was. Well. Being evil. "You heard me!" She sounded way too delighted, Santa noted. "I killed my predecessor! You know, the guy before me? Yeah. Stabbed him right dead. Pulled the vest out of the melted pile of slush that was once Jack Frost the first and put it right on." "...Jesus Christ."

Anyway, after that, she goes home and Jack pops in for 4 o'clock coffee and the final image ensues, lol. This interaction follows that:

Jack is deffs enjoying retirement in this au! Going full vacation mode, spending most days in various hot spots on various beaches with various drinks, usually popping by the family home for 4 o'clock coffee and cocoa--and a break from the sun since he burns and Winter worries

So I was talking to my bf the other night and made this rec eps list for fun. The idea pretty much was like to challenge myself to see if I had to recc someone who was hesitant to watch the entire show due to length and wanted to get a general gist, which eps would I recc for them to get a good feel, esp if they've maybe onIy had prior experience fics/art or want to delve on that but wanted to have an idea of canon first. I llimited myself to 15 eps with 5 extra "reccomended ", my focus being character dev eps and plot stuff like the lead up to reign storm, valerie's plotline, danielle, etc.

To be honest it was kinda hard at points lol, esp since DP is episodic moreso than plot heavy so it's not really like making a list for like a long running battle shonen or something, but hey this was fun to do fndnd.

Also again this is not a "you must follow this or else" type thing, I only did this for fun, I'll even link the tiermaker I used in case someone has their own version and opinions they wanna post as well which I'd honestly love to see.

To explain my reasonings

Req. Tier

Mystery Meat - First ep of the show, get introduced to main cast, set up yada yada

Parental Bonding - Introductuon to Paulina, first ep we get an idea for Sam and Danny's relationship.

What You Want - Tucker only really has two episodes during the show, so at the very least the first one focusing on him would be good to have to delve a bit into him.

Bitter Reunions - First Vlad ep, esp since he's Danny's arch-nemesis would be weird not to get introduced for later on.

My Brother's Keeper - Jazz finding out about Danny's secret, plus I really feel this is a great episode showing their dynanic and getting to learn more of how Jazz is.

Shades of Grey - best character Valerie gets introduced here, so felt it was pretty important to include esp for later on.

Public Enemies - This is the first episode where the status quo is changed and now Amity Park is just generally aware of Danny. Thinking he's an enemy yeah, buttttt still aware of Inviso-Bill i nearly typed in buffalo bill

Maternal Instincts - Danny and Maddie getting screentime together, Vlad's second appearance, and the start of Maddie straight up hating his ass lol.

Memory Blank - Mainly chose this one since it's where we learn how Danny first had the accident, so hey backstory stuff.

Reign Storm - The whole plotline with Vlad and Pariah Dark's ring and crown, more Valerie development, it's a fun episode imo. Too bad this didn't get followed in S3 but-

The Ultimate Enemy - Do I really gotta explain lol, Dan and Clockwork, Danny finding out Jazz knows his secret, etc etc like it's pretty much the episode every reccomends.

Flirting With Disaster - Big development for Valerie showing how she's developed imo, continues the Danny and Valerie stuff from Reign Storm, also again I'm biased towards Valerie lol

Reality Trip - Look I'll just be blunt I fucking love this episode, like it's genuinely my favorite of the three specials. It's a fun adventure, I love the Danny being revealed plot line, it's an exciting watch, could not leave it out.

Kindred Spirits - Danielle introduction plus more Vlad development as well, plus depending on your watch order I think this is counted as the S2 finale?

D-Stabilized - More on Danielle and Valerie's plotlines, and for a general bias honestly find it to be a pretty good episode and if any I'd say are "required" from S3 it would def be this one.

Recc. Tier

These were the most difficult cause there's still a bunch of episodes I'd rec.

Life Lessons - First ep where we see Danny and Valerie learn about each other outside of a negative context, plus pretty funny episode.

King Tuck - Again, Tucker barely gets any episodes so I do think his should be watched. Similar reasons to what I put for "What You Want".

Secret Weapons - First ep post-TUE where we see how Jazz and Danny are now that they're both aware she knows his secret. Get more development between them and more Vlad screentime too.

Eye for an Eye - This was such a hard one to choose between D-Stabilized and it, but I felt the former was more important in the end. Sets up the Vlad becoming mayor plotline that gies throughout S3 and also it's just funny like Vlad really rigged an election over a prank war with a 14 yr old.

Urban Jungle - I'm personally not the biggest fan of this episode, plus it's not really a special despite being advertised as such, but it does introduce the ice powers Danny gets that stays with him till the end so I felt it would be a good one to have listed as well.

Fun fact I actually had an earlier ver that incl. Million Dollar Ghost over Public Enemies, but when I thought about it I felt the latter had more bigger impact than the former simply setting up a plot line that Reign Storm goes more into anyway. Plus I really wanted to include Control Freaks cause it introduces Freak Show but again was limited 😭😭

Also it's very hilarious that for all the villains who's episodes I couldn't include, Desiree got BOTH her episodes in, like damn her impact 🤣

I'm curious what are your thoughts on the salacious players club series by Sara cate.

I have read Praise and Eyes On Me but none of the others. Would you recommend it?

I think it's overall a great series that also is a good introduction to kinky romance novels, though I feel like it peaked at Mercy (book 4) and the last two were overall duds. Here are my thoughts individually-

Praise is my favorite; it's a comfort read to me because it's such a well-done rendition of an older man/younger woman romance but with the added layer of kink (D/s, secretary stuff). It has the right amount of taboo (ex's dad) and the right amount of conflict because of the taboo aspect (Emerson's back-and-forth about wanting Charlie and him literally trying to shove Charlie and his son Beau together one last time before Charlie puts her foot down and tells him she wants him).

Give Me More is my second favorite because I really loved the evolution of Hunter, Isabel, and Drake's relationship; Hunter and Isabel are a married couple and Drake is their long-time friend. Hunter has this red-herring new kink awakening moment where he thinks he wants to be cucked and watch Drake and Isabel together, but that's not it at all. Hunter's journey in overcoming his internalized biphobia was actually really emotional to read, as was Drake and Isabel getting closer in the meantime. All three characters were likeable individually and had distinct voices which...... was not the case with Sara's other poly romance in this series.

Mercy is honestly tied with Give Me More; I love older woman/younger man romances, and this is even better because Beau's redemption arc from Praise comes full circle and I was actually rooting for him by the end. It's also really great to read him go from this aimless young loser to figuring out he's a sub and a *brat*, and also finding purpose (and reconciling with daddy lol). Maggie also comes into her own as a domme. I appreciated how Sara wrote Maggie's conflict as the only woman among the owners of Salacious; her feeling like she doesn't belong even if the other men are nice to her, seeing the tasks she often ends up with, and reading her irrational but understandable mental competition with Emerson was all very relatable.

Eyes on Me is a book I don't remember very well but I remember it doing the trick as far as fulfilling the itch for taboo (Garrett and Mia are stepsiblings) and novelty, because it's still pretty rare to read romances where the heroine is a sex worker, and in this case the relatively new profession of camgirl. The voyeurism of it all was very hot too. Also, I appreciated the plus-size/fat rep with this, as well as Praise.

Highest Bidder wasn't very standout to me because the romance felt trite; like yeah, he's a billionaire silver fox and she's a little white girl and he inevitably whisks away to Paris and makes her call him daddy. Sure. Sara tried to include this added layer of taboo where the heroine's mom and the hero were dating once, but it never quite worked because I don't think it was suuuuper serious, and he never actually met Daisy while he was dating her mom, I believe.

I think my biggest problem with Madame was that in a poly romance, you need all the characters to have equal weight and distinct voices, and unfortunately, Jade was the weak link, so to speak. I could barely discern a personality, and I do not think she had switch energy at all. I'm very cognizant of my biases when it comes to writing off female characters in romances, especially in poly romances, but genuinely, she was giving nothing. Clay felt like Beau lite and Sara half-assed his mommy issues and didn't go where I wanted her to go with him (mommy kink; I wanted her to go THERE), and so much of Eden's story felt boring for Surprise Reasons we were not informed of in the last 5 books.

Honestly, it's also always braime shippers that believe Jaime won't be directly involved in Cersei's death because they feel like that would leave a stain on their ship's little romance... Everyone has their biases.

As for myself, I do think he will outlive her and finish his arc in the north, I just very much doubt he will only cause damage from afar. They will need to face eachother again, simply because it would be so unfulfilling from a storytelling point of view to leave all of their stuff unresolved. Especially when this is probably one of the most significant relationships in the series (it literally ignites the entire conflict).

"on their ship's lil romance" first of all, fuck off oh my god. second of all, i ship daemyra, i ship visaemon, i've been known to read a little sansan and jon/ygritte, do you think a little spousal murder or domestic violence is gonna stop me from shipping braime? get the fuck out of here and be serious lmao.

the importance of braime is not just "a lil romance" it is integral to the themes of the books. you can't make the argument that lannicest is one of the most significant relationships in the series and then ignore the fact that a) we do not get the PoV of either character until after Brienne comes into the picture because SHE is ultimately what ignites the conflicts in all three of their characters and b) the themes of knighthood, chivalry, oath keeping, and protecting the weak and innocent aren't also integral to the plot of the entire series when Jaime makes his iconic and character defining "they make you swear so many vows" speech while Brienne is standing there listening to him. If you want me to get into the annoying ass biases, I think it's misogynistic that people applauded the Braime ending of the show when it completely divorces Brienne (and the twins!!!) from the bulk of her story arc, and that chalking up Braime as "a lil romance" is a misogynistic way of undercutting the importance of her identity arc! I'm not discounting the importance of Lannicest, so let's not fucking start with this "my ship is more important than your ship" bullshit.

What I am actually saying is that people take a literal reading of the valonqar prophecy that does not apply to a single other prophecy in the entire series, and I find it perplexing, and annoying, the same way I find the digging in the heels defense of Aegon VI being the mummer's dragon to be perplexing and annoying. The whole series is setting up this idea that you can't trust prophecies and that knowing about a prophecy is often mentally damaging, but the fans (including D&D) just wholesale swallow both Cersei and Dany's opinions on their prophecies as correct and I don't buy that. I also never said the Lannister twins won't meet again. In fact what I said was:

Yeah, I’m well aware of that, I’m not saying he’s doing anything nice to her, i think he’ll have a hand (badum-ts) in her dying, probably enough to feel guilty over it too (plus whatever is happening with tyrion) but he’s not strangling her to death and I simply do not believe he’s dying right after either. What is he doing? no idea. they’re at casterly rock and he uses the last of the conditioner and then he leaves. i have no idea and I think people who are insistent that he HAS to murder-suicide his way out of the story are overconfident af about that ending.

AKA I think it's likely all three of the Lannisters are going to meet again at Casterly Rock, likely as its being destroyed. Of course they're going to meet again; no one serious denies that. But is he going to murder-suicide when they do? I am doubtful. In Jaime's mind, the last we see him, he considers himself effectively divorced from Cersei. He quite literally abandons her to die in a trial by combat to go play in the woods with Brienne. But I'm supposed to believe that he's still angry enough to go all crime of passion on her at this point? Nah son!! Just because he's going to "choke the life from her" does not literally mean he's going to actually choke the life from her, any more than Dany is going to literally fuck up some puppet dragon or Euron literally turned into a crow, munched on some seaweed, and perched on Jaqen's shoulder while Jaqen offed Balon.
