It would be super helpful if a few people could send me a little grocery/supply money to tide me over until my next sale (or be my next sale.)
Venmo- Kate-Havekost
I was able to take care of my housing situation, for now, but it left me without extra money for groceries. I also have some paper but I need to mend it and to buy some pigments (yellow lilacs and gold poppies) to get things finished. If you can I'd be extremely grateful. If not, I understand. Thanks you all for your kindness, support (financial and emotional,) and forbearance.

How many insects can you spot?
Insects are the masters of camouflage and mimicry! Insects that are are camouflaged blend in with their environments through colors, patterns, and shapes. Mimicry is an evolutionary adaptation where insects resemble another species or a natural object.
There are 27 insects in this illustration showcasing the wonders of camouflage and mimicry. The answers will be posted later!

Epidendrum secundum is a (preferably) terrestrial growing orchid with a wide distribution throughout the Neotropics, Cusco, Southeastern Peru, and Brazil
It is generally found in more montane environments where it can get a bit cooler, but has also been found growing near sea-level and by disturbed roadsides!
E. Secundum is an extremely variable species of orchid and is generally referred to as a complex, being that certain individuals vary at a rank more deserving of a separate species entirely!!
Chromosome numbers may vary dramatically for each individual in the complex, and a lilac-flowered individual from Bolivia could be found to have 2n = 28; while a lilac-flowered individual from San Antônio do Itambé in Brazil, could be found to have 2n = 52 (:
It's flowers range from shades of lilac, orange, red, white, and yellow
EXTRA FUN FACT:
Its Linnaean binomial "Epidendrum secundum", is entirely inappropriate and wrong in describing the species
The flowers are not secund, meaning not all on one side of the inflorescence. Nor is it lop-sided, or something that grows "upon a tree"
Along with that, every common name deriving from this binomial is also wrong
Hope you think this is interesting and enjoyable!! :D

Hi There! I am a fully cis man. However I am disgusted by the treatment of transfem users on this website. So, I emailed some press about just my recent issues I’ve personally noticed and support emails documented, and Guess what, you can too!
Yeah, you can do that! If you are a trans person you can say “Hey, this shit is going on.” And if you have enough documentation, they will notice and say Hey, that’s weird? Here’s some now
Media Matters: A left leaning publication
email [email protected] or call 202.756.4100.
Glaad: A LGBT advocacy organization that you can contact using this page for more suggestions
Vox, a general left leaning site they aint perfect but hey:
Fuck it, CNN!
If you are a trans user on this website with documented support emails with Tumblr’s behavior or can personally attest to how staff treated you? send out information let them know what is going on, and please find other websites that you get your news from to let them know! If i’m nuked? Lmao.

I finally feel like starting on my personal speculative biology project again!! Been putting it off for wayyyyyyyyyyyy too long :/
Had some inspiration and hopefully I can keep it, so I can continue 🤞
This was the one I had designed for me a year or so back by the incredibly talented @yellosnacc :D
Wanted to try my hand at drawing it out, and to practice with it as well since I'm hoping to make many more creatures! C:
P.S. go look at yellosnacc's artwork and world building right now!! It's literally so awesome!!! c:

Neofinetia falcata or Vanda falcata is a very cool orchid found naturally in parts of Asia.
The flowers are fragrant and smell similar to jasmine in my opinion (:
This species is extremely genetically varied, and there is an abundance of varieties and hybrids on the market with varying coloured flowers, roots, and leaves; all in different shapes and sizes!! :D
It was once kept by samurai and lords in Japan, and was prized for it's leaves. They would prune and maintain it consistently, making sure to cut off the flower spikes.
Cages would be placed over the orchids, and guests would have to wear face masks as they walked by it!
They were basically treated like royalty

This is one of my rarest orchids, known as Eulophia quartiniana! (:
It's a terrestrial, deciduous orchid that's native to Ghana. In the wild it normally would grow in grassy plains.
This species almost disappeared from the wild many years back, but was reintroduced again more recently!!
121 small plants were grown by seed, and 100 of them went back to Ghana. My neighbour was the one in charge of growing the orchids for their reintroduction, and was allowed to keep a few of the smallest plants for his collection.
My orchid is one of those few he kept from the 121 seedlings he grew, and I believe it is somewhere around 20 years old now and flowering for the first time! :D
