For OFMD Tumblr friends who want a S3 and are scared of Twitter

First, no judgment from me. I very much get it. I resisted Twitter for a long time, and even though I'm now a bit more comfortable on it, it's still not my Fandom Home. There are a TON of valid reasons not to be on Twitter, but if you REALLY want to keep OFMD visible right now and help its chances of returning for a third season, Twitter is the best place to do it. Like it or not, Twitter is still the best social media platform for raising awareness and for instant news updates.

Tumblr posts don't make headlines. Topics that have been trending on Twitter do. And if we want this show to come back, we need to make OFMD impossible to ignore.

By now you've probably seen just how close we came to a S3, and if you're like me, you are RAGING and donning your battle jacket. But I get it can be intimidating to get on Twitter for the first time, so I thought I'd address some common anxieties I see. I'll put below a cut because this got a bit long, but I promise it's a quick read.

I don't know what to say! Where do I even start? That's okay! You don't have to create your own tweets (although it's great if you do). Amplifying other people's posts is also important. Go ahead and like/retweet/reply to other people's posts. This may also help you get an idea of what you may like to say in your own tweets.

Hashtags...yes? Yes! Although don't use too many or you may get flagged as a bot. The biggest one that seems to be emerging is #SaveOFMD. Other popular ones are #RenewAsACrew, #RenewOurFlagMeansDeath, and of course, #OFMD and #OurFlagMeansDeath.

Should I just be tagging all the streaming services? Per @renewasacrew, no. It's counterproductive. You'll want to tag one streamer at a time and be specific. Below is an example of a tweet I made the other day -- use specific reasons why that that particular streamer may benefit from picking up OFMD.

I'm scared. People are mean. Yeah, people are mean. But I will say the vibes over at OFMD Twitter are currently the best I've ever seen them. People seem to have united for the greater good and are being overwhelmingly positive and just trying to do whatever we can to save the show. (That said, again, I already had a pretty curated feed, and was very liberal with blocking users/terms I didn't want to see, but I've been able to spend so much more time in the For You tab than I ever have without being jump scared by something.)

But I don't know anyone there! Wouldn't I just be shouting into the void? Not if you use the hashtags! Fans are being really good about following those and engaging with the tweets. Plus, [Stede voice], I'm your friend. I'm xoxoemynn over there as well, I'll follow you back and engage with any of your posts that I see. Plus, what's been REALLY lovely to see is that SO many lurkers have come out of lurkerdom to support the efforts, and they are being welcomed with open arms, so you will not be alone. Again, I am telling you, vibes? Best I've ever seen them.

I can't get sucked into another social media platform, I don't have the time. The beauty here is you don't need to spend a lot of time. I've been on Twitter more in the past week than I have in the entire year I've had an account, and I'm still only on for maybe an hour total the entire day? I open the app, I check a couple accounts, I engage with a handful of posts, and I close the app. It takes all of five minutes. It's an extremely small lift that can have a very big impact.

My bet is on Zaslav expecting us to be upset, and that there may be a day or two of outrage, but then we'd move on. I'm sure right now he's trying to convince everyone that this is a fluke, and that it'll blow over soon. Don't let him win. Keep OFMD in the news. Be loud (but polite) and make Max and other streamers take note of what a passionate, loyal fan base this show has. Make their stocks continue to drop. Make it clear this is NOT just a fluke, it is NOT business as usual. It's a BIG fuck up with lasting consequences.

Twitter, for all its sins, is the best place to do this.

Author's Notes: So, I have no excuse for how late this is but yea. This was the celebration fanfic that you, the readers, choose. This is a few months late because I don’t do well with deadlines. But here it is.  

What could be more irking than [Male Name] [L. Name]?

Nothing. Nothing. Every single thing this man did irks Scaramouche to no end. Why did he aim for Scaramouche?! Why not Childe or La Signora, wait she’s dead but still why him?! [Harbinger Name] was shorter than Scaramouche by a lot. Unfortunately, [Harbinger Name] was the fourth Fatui Harbinger, so Scaramouche could not fight him to the death like he wanted to for fear of punishment from the Tsaritsa. It’s not like he actually cares though, but he wouldn’t even get close to killing the (h/c) because would always outsmart him. Well speak of the devil and he shall appear.

"Hi~ Scara! How are you today? Has anyone come and hit you yet? I hope someone did, I paid that person a hefty sum too.” [Male Name] said pouting a little thinking that someone didn’t annoy the smaller male. 

“Thank you for spilling your plan, I’ll be waiting for the many meetings and appointments you planned and set up,” Scaramouche said sarcastically while [Male Name] giggled at the man’s misery.

”You’re welcome Scara, don’t mention it. I saved all my meetings and gave them to you so I didn’t have it go to them~!”

”You are an annoying little shit. I hope you die soon like La Signora.”

”Oh Scara, that won’t be happening anytime soon. You know that Traveler can’t beat me yet~. He can’t even come close.”

”Eh? Mmm… Yeah, you’re right actually.” Scaramouche looked away and whispered, “For the first time in a while.” He looked like he ate an extra sour lemon.

”Aww, did I hear that correctly? Did The Scaramouche, the Sixth Fatui Harbinger, just agree with me~?!” 

“Shut up! Don’t get so excited about it! It won’t happen again.”

”Oh I believe it will happen again, but not soon. Maybe in the next hundred years? As you know I am but a simple wandering spirit-“ [Male Name] said raising his hand to his chest.

”Cut the bullshit [Harbinger Name], it's not worth the breath.”

”Says you. You wasted your breath on the Traveler for nothing. It was hot and amazing but still, you talked a little too much for my tastes, too much talking not enough moaning.”

”I-. The fuck [Male Name]!! You just don’t go around saying shit like that! You're beginning to sound like Childe,”

”Honey, no. He learned it from me. You know how I used to govern over where Tartaglia lives. He used to come up to me when I was making my rounds, asking all sorts of things-“

”Oh I think you dooo~”

“As if she would listen to you~. I’m her favorite because I bring her the most heads~”

”No she just likes you because you are another immortal that is more human than the rest of us.”

”No no. I don’t think that’s it. But what does it matter? I’ll be alive to see her reign of Teyvat. Not that it matters.”

”Why are you so certain that I won’t be alive to see her reign?!” 

“Because you my dear, are most likely going to betray her for a gnosis. The things she wants to destroy the most.”

”No I would not! How dare you accuse me of that! That would be treason of the highest!”

”Exactly my dear! You are the most probable person to commit treason against the Tsaritsa. Because you are a puppet and you are missing what you think you need.” [Male Name] takes a breath. “Scaramouche, you do not need the Electro Archon‘s gnosis to feel whole. You were unstable. You can’t handle it.”

”That’s what you think! I can handle the gnosis just fine!”

”Balladear, I might as well just report you to the Tsaritsa for treason. But I won’t. You wanna know why you stupid little dumb dense mother fucking puppet!?” He takes a breath looking on the verge of tears. “I FUCKING LOVE YOU, YOU LITTLE DUMB SHIT!”

”What?”

"I've been flirting with you this whole time!" [Male Name] exasperates. "I liked you since the first time I saw you."

"No, you didn't. You shook my hand and then walked away," Scaramouche mutters in disbelief.

"To go gush about you to my cat!!" [Male Name] turns and walks away but then thinks better of it and looks back at Scara. "Ya know, you're pretty short for a top"

And with that Scaramouche turns beat red and runs after [Male Name] but he's gone before Scara could even get a glimpse of his wide smile.

I believe I’ve mentioned this before in a post but by now it’s lost to time, so as another blog who has issues with the Megatron redemption thing being very flat:

I wish Earthspark had taken the same route as Steven Universe’s did on Rose/Pink Diamond but with Megatron, the younger members of cast who have only ever known this ‘good’ version of them get to slowly learn new things and experience his redemption in reverse.

All the older bots they know like Elita and Bee and Optimus all get along so well with Megatron except for minor things, so to them it would likely be hard to imagine it could be THAT bad. Even hearing from other Decepticons how he used to be could’ve been interesting and they half-way opened the door to that possibility with the Starscream arc and then slammed it shut by making Starscream so much worse.

Thinking of it from a kid/teen perspective like the terrans, Starscream described him as cruel and how he rules with fear. Hashtag sort of gets an understanding that Megatron didn’t exactly risk his ass for a soldier who was left behind, and yeah that all sounds pretty (vaguely) cold and cruel, but then Starscream rips the life out of two children right in front of them rather maliciously. They’re probably gonna have Starscream as the worst of the two from their views. Like everything he non-descriptively told them about Megatron is gonna pale in comparison to the trauma he just caused them.

(On a side note, I saw a clip from season 3 where Starscream is sitting trapped in the dome having propped up the chaos Terran’s bodies and that’s not really taken as something horrific? Like they all blatantly ignore Starscream as if he poses no threat and the terrans aren’t even a LITTLE disturbed or angry with him? Theyre all just sighing and rolling their eyes??? Pls PICK A TONE they never seem to portray anyone the same way twice whyyyy.)

Focus on Megatron backstory being revealed to the terrans is always so weird and passive. Like them seeing an earlier version of him in that training simulator wasn’t enough for me. I’m not saying ‘traumatize the kids’ cause that’s mean, but like idk an old war story from an oblivious autobot who hasn’t been in touch with the others! That’s an easy option! There’s so many ways and they didn’t utilize it they just… RGH I’m no good with words sorry it’s just so many wasted opportunities and ill-planned plots.

The thing about the "old war story from an Autobot who hasn't been in touch" option is. They literally had the opportunity to do that in S3. Because they introduced Prowl, who had no idea Megatron changed sides, didn't trust him, and didn't like the Autobots relying on kids. So like. He was literally the perfect character to be uncomfortable with how much the kids trust Megatron and want to talk to them about it. And not only did S3 not do that, it ended with Prowl and Megatron on good terms, so they actually removed the possibility of it coming up later (Prowl also decided relying on kids is fine, actually. Mostly I liked how EarthSpark handled him, but they wasted no time forcing the worst parts of the status quo on him).

I'm not super familiar with Steven Universe (mostly I just watched a few Peridot episodes), so I don't know how they built up the reveal with Rose, but I feel like SU is a perfect example of why Megatron's redemption doesn't work. Rose/Pink Diamond was at the top of her society, and when she changed, so did everything around her. She was one of the most important characters in the story while being dead.

Meanwhile, Megatron is just kind of... There? Sure, you have one-off episodes like Shockwave's and Soundwave's debuts where they were specifically mad at Megatron for betraying them, but his redemption doesn't serve the narrative at all. None of the other Decepticons went with him when he defected, there's no evidence that he tried to end the war through negotiation, none of the Autobots have any lingering mistrust. His defection changed nothing, and if the war had ended because of his death instead, you could tell the exact same story by just modifying a few episodes.

And yeah, you have people who'll say it doesn't matter because the story is about the kids, not the legacy characters, but we're talking about the leader of the Decepticons. You don't just redeem the leader of the enemy faction and handle him the way you would handle a random low-ranking soldier.

Honestly, I don't think anything short of a complete rewrite of his character and his impact on the story would fix his redemption. At very least, you'd need to revert back to S1 Starscream, because making the victim worse than his abuser is the surest way to ruin a redemption for me. Just come right out and say the abuse was justified, why don't you.

(You also have people who'll say there's no evidence that Megatron abused Starscream in EarthSpark. I assume those people just kind of ignore Starscream explicitly saying he's not safe around Megatron).

Garak! Yay! I love that he's in this episode, but also that he's almost useless. Poor guy is used to being the hypercompetent superspy, and he can't fix the station or even do anything.

Though you gotta admit, getting a distress call from yourself would be weird. I like the headcanon that Starfleet are the ones who get all the really weird shenanigans because Humans are batshit neophiles, so they would definitely have a protocol for "what to do if you receive a message from yourself." Besides, the Cardassians seem like the type of military where even if shenanigans happened on the reg, they wouldn't Tell People.

Heeheehee Dukat asking about Sisko's welfare under the guise of making a jab. Suuuure Dukat.

Hah! Say what you will about Dukat [he's a monster], I do love the bitchy-ass power move of ordering a tea from the replicator trying to kill everyone.

I also love that Dukat and Garak's beef is so epic they take time to snipe at each other while the station is headed for destruction.

Heeheehee I love Dukat's slow realization that he's trapped. And Garak and Kira's reaction shots. It's just. Chef's kiss.

And now. Garak just absolutely murdering Dukat. I cackle every time.

I love they get contact with Sisko and Co like ten minutes before the station is set to blow. Very star trek.

It's such a small moment, but I love that Sisko lets Jake come along to try to save the station. It's such a sweet moment of recognition of Jake's agency.

Think they make Starfleet uniforms with tear points? If you've ever tried to rip fabric like that, it's really hard unless the fabric is basically gauze or unless there are seams meant to give way. Hashtag sewist thoughts.

And I love the solution to the self-destruct sequence. Though just for plot reasons I wish they'd had some lasting damage.

Also love that Quark and Odo flirting wildly as they walk away is the last shot of the episode.

more high school reminiscing

i remember the moment when i was first labeled a Feminist (tm). it was my best/only friend in middle school, we were working together to build a small catapult in carpentry class, and due to illness he was absent a lot and i built most of it myself. he called me a feminist for that, somewhat derisively, and i couldn't understand the derision because Yeah. Obviously? also surely i'm misremembering this event because it was a weird thing to call me for finishing our group project, but like. sure. catapults are feminist.

in high school i had fully embraced my status as the Annoying Feminist. weaponised it, even. if anyone said something really shitty and gender essentialist, i was gonna make it sooooooo annoying for them. one guy was gonna make a presentation about some videogame topic, and during a rehearsal for it, his intro talked about how the games women play don't count because they're all casual mobile games or the sims. not on my fucking watch you don't!!!! especially not in *this* class where literally every girl was a hashtag gamer playing hashtag real games by anyone's standards. in my feedback i just straight up told him that if he doesn't scratch that out, i'll be breathing down his neck. maybe not changing hearts and minds, but it worked. (also i hated that guy sooo much. he acted like he had a crush on me, but it was like, some kind of Idealised Version of me, since he clearly had no clue who i even was as a person. maybe it was an elaborate bit he was playing - wouldn't have been the first time someone did that to me.)

so i liked to think of myself as this radical outsider who didn't give a damn about what anyone thought of me, which was obviously not true, it just... manifested in weird ways. we had a new guy in class at some point, and he was like, a Cool Dude. he really did have the vibes of someone who didn't care what others thought of him. he also very early on identified as Not A Feminist, because, as he put it, feminists just want women to be on top instead of men. so i made it my Project to 1) Teach Him What Feminism Is Actually About And How It Benefits Men Also, and 2) earn his respect to prove that feminists are cool and not the man hating stereotype everyone in the early 2010s thought they were!!!!!

anyway it was actually going quite well, i think, like we were kind of friends though never close, and i would have breakthroughs sometimes - like he would say something about "idk why they're making such a big deal about a woman doing X" and i'd be like "no i agree actually" and he'd be like "you do????????" and i'd be like "yeah i think it should be super normalized and expected, it's just a shame that we haven't gotten to that point yet" and i could FEEL the feminist-meter increase. like yes. yes...!!!!! by the time we part ways he will respect the movement...!!!!!!!

except, of course, i put a lot of energy into this Project and he probably didn't give it any thought at all. i'd like to think i made at least a tiny difference, but. who's to say. during a school trip to berlin in our last year, i was in a very animated conversation with some other classmates about the differences between a song of ice and fire and game of thrones, and all the ways the tv show adaptation (which i liked at the time!) was much more sexist, Because Of Course I Was, and then cool anti feminist guy walks past and is like "are you bitching about game of thrones again?"

and that's all it took!!! that's all it took for me to just immediately shut down and leave and sit down in the hotel shower and feel deeply humiliated. just a single moment of being kinda rude to me mid-conversation he wasn't even part of. the worst part is that i had barely been bitching about game of thrones up till then!! i think that's why it stung so hard - no matter how little i 'preached' about my silly little sjw topics, it would always be Too Much and Too Annoying.

that was the moment i gave up on the Project as far as that guy was concerned. BUT THE THING IS. this weird need for respect from guys who clearly didn't see the need to give me any, i kept having it. it's a bit hard to pin down the exact genre of guy, but it was like, someone who didn't Hate women outright, who had female friends and acted chill, but had a Misconception about feminism and social justice. it was like, oh, i can bridge that gap for sure. i just need to prove myself to him!!!!!!!!! show him what a cool girl i am!!!!!!! as if i was not this extremely awkward autistic egg flailing around. EMBARASSING.

and yet! and yet. i still believe in the value of having friendly, humanizing conversations with guys i don't fully agree with - up to a point. the overton window has moved quite a bit in the past decade. and i think i DO have more legit self respect now - even if i still sometimes find a flicker of the same yearning for Some Guy's Validation, but the flavor is less "please respect me even if i'm a girl" and more "please respect me even if i'm trans". i'm just better at not getting hung up on specific Guys.

I like playing games but a lot of the time I have a hard time keeping myself focus to play them so I like watching let’s plays on youtube. A couple of my favorites youtubers streamed the game and the first dlc and I really enjoyed it. Maybe one day I’ll get myself to play it.

Do the brothers interact? And if so, do they know about Lavi? Is it like, one day Donnie shows up with some random ass baby in tow and they’re like, Dah fuq is that!?

Speaking on Lavi and babies, when I read “Gave me a pretty baby”, I couldn’t help but picture a proud papatello swimming with a school of his babies.

And a throw back to names, donnie doesn’t need f-chan’s actual name, he has his own names for them; my love, my sweet, mine, and dumdum.

ANYWAY! yeah it's a really great game!! i had a ton of fun with it, and i'm sooooo excited for the new dlc to come out. partially bc i Smell that it has aberration lore (and i Hunger) and also bc i hundo'd the game RIGHT as they added in the new achievements so im like. foaming at the mouth with excitement

i have some fics planned that will answer some of your questions, so i'll refrain from doing so here for now. but yeah, your commentary is largely on point. im a huge fan of the whole "you don't have a name (and you don't need one because the only people who would use it have other names for you and don't speak english anyway)" vibe we have going on. like. yeah. your connection with donnie is Deeper than something as superficial as a name. sighs yearningly

Some of my notes from watching Zeta Gundam very, very slowly (up until ep. 34)

(Needless to say that it contains spoilers and that I get very annoying about the female characters because that's my thing)

-I'm 6 episodes into Zeta Gundam and I still don't know what to make of Kamille. On the other hand, it took me a look at some screenshots of SD Gundam Kamille to know that I'd die for him.

-I was very surprised to see Kamille openly declaring that he's autistic. Why don't we have more of that?

-20 episodes in, now (watching v. slowly). So... Z isn't exactly that great about women... right? 0079 left me gladly surprised on that front, but my expectations were super low. Maybe I should turn off that part of my brain while watching this.

- I hate to say this about a female character but so far Beltorchika is so annoying. Wake up, sis! You can't fix the dude, you barely know him! He's not opening up to you, and please leave the 15 year old out of your problems with Amuro!

-"I learned karate and how to make Mobile Suits to become a man!". Kamille isn't beating the transmasc allegations /J

-It makes sense that Kamille resents her mother for apparently caring more about her job than her family, but this does speak more of that general anxiety about women in the workplace than of anything else. Might be a common cliché at the time, still don't like it.

-She's allowed to be a terrible mom, but maybe for other more nuanced reasons? Also the fact that Kamille mentions that Fa made things that his mother should've done for him... it's gonna be really awkward if Kamille/Fa is the endgame ship.

-So, if both Kamille's parents were responsible for the development of the MK-II, then when he fights in it, one can say that his parents are still protecting him. On the other hand, we could also consider the MK-II as Kamille's little br- *gets shot*

-Ep 21: The titular Zeta Gundam appears. -Male Feminist guy is creepy. -Bright has the vibes of an exhausted High School teacher. - Fa rescues Kamille in space. This two are soo endgame

-Bright: Emma, you should do something about Kamille and Fa. Emma: Nah. I'm not Kamille's mom, besides, teens like to make drama as a form of recreation.

Emma is so cool. (Also, she and Reccoa should kiss)

-If there's a fanfic out there about Bright Noah being a clueless high school teacher/principal, please let me know. That's like the perfect AU for him.

-Girls can also fuck up in the battlefield and get slapped as a form of military disciplinary tactic! Hashtag equality. (But seriously though, I wasn't expecting Fa to become a pilot. Interesting).

-In the comment section of the dubious site where I'm watching this show, people are saying that Zeta is ahead of its time. And yeah, in many aspects it is. On the other hand it took Gundam 40+ years to have a girl protag. Suletta Mercury should've been invented like 30 or 20 years ago.

-Meanwhile, Scirocco is high-key trying to get Jerid killed and failing. They're both huge losers.

-Also, Kamille is slowly and steadily growing on me.

-Kamille becomes more mature and thoughtful. - The story brings Katz to be the new impulsive boy who fucks everything up. -Katz matures after a couple of episodes. -Now there's a pair of annoying kids whose only purpose is to awake Fa's maternal instinct (???) It never ends!

And super possessive over Bro, too. I like Bro to not be able to sleep without Cal, or else he gets nightmares and his insomnia goes unchecked. I love them being able to just chill and enjoy watching horror movies together as a soothing activity. (Hashtag Mood lol...) Just generally being inseparable. Bro can talk to Cal about anything and everything, but Bro doesn't say much around other people. I love Bro repairing Cal. Love it so much. For one thing, he keeps looking at Tony as though he reminds him of someone else, and even if he never says anything, Tony's pretty sure it's his father. A lifetime of not measuring up to Howard's expectations is more than enough, thank you very much, and he's certainly not going to make an effort to live up to any of Steve's. Steve's pretty clearly failed to live up to his expectations, in any case, and that's not hypocritical at all.

Wordsplat: “Hashtag Finally” (Steve/Tony) (000) • Since the story's been deleted from....whichever site, can't remember - I have the doc saved. Also the summary for this one is just the beginning of the fic (I'm lazy): It started with Clint. Technically speaking, Tony never actually invited him. He would have, given any sort of contact information, but Clint disappeared right after the battle of New York and clearly didn't want to be found. Natasha probably knew where he was, but knowing didn't mean sharing, so Tony never got the chance. Invitation or no invitation, three years later Tony still found Clint Barton sitting on his couch, watching Dog Cops and eating Cheetos in his underwear. "Sup." "Shit!" Tony jumped, dropping his mug. "Aw, coffee." Clint peered over the top of the couch. "Sucks, man."

“Meet Your Heroes” (Steve/Tony) (000) • Another one that bit the dust -> google doc The summary is the first few parts of the fic: It’s been a while, sure, but it’s far from his first rodeo and he knows exactly what’s about to happen when the door of the black van in front of him rolls back to reveal four armed men in black ski masks. So yeah, not the best way to kick off the week. He’d had a great weekend. After months of toying with it, scrapping the idea only to circle back around, he’d finally committed and built the mechanized suit he’s envisioned since the “Avengers” first appeared on the scene a few months ago. Part of the reason he’d tried to scrap it so many times was how nervous he’d been to tell Steve. Steve didn’t like to talk much about the mysterious team of superheroes running around their city these days, so Tony had sort of assumed that expressing his desire to join them might make things tense to say the least, if not start an outright fight. To Tony’s pleasant surprise, Steve had instead been weirdly over the moon about it all. Told him to go for it. Went on and on about how the Avengers would be lucky as hell to have him. Practically rewarded him, jumped his bones no less than five minutes after he announced his intentions. So that had been great.

Scifigirl47: - “Some Things Shouldn’t Be a Chore” (Steve/Tony) Steve takes things like personal responsibility and respect seriously. Tony's got people he pays to take care of that kind of thing, and anyway, he's pretty sure that he's going to die of some exotic disease in his workshop, because Dummy's still a little spotty about what is 'clean' enough to put on an open wound. The rest of the Avengers are in this for personal gain, except for Clint, he just enjoys being a dick. And some things shouldn't be a chore.

anyway if you're keeping up with my pride and prejudice comparisons, very easily Sonya = Caroline Bingley not only for trying to take away your love interest but even the hatred of her not getting why everyone loves MC.

once again I feel I only am enjoying the PDA awards bc it feeds into my pride and prejudice narrative, with Dominic's clip showing his initial dislike of MC bc he really just had a crush on her

Also the love triangle is sorted easily for me bc essentially my MC vibes well with Callum but prefers a challenge and with how OTT and lovey (kinda cringey) Callum is, like of course she's picking Dominic who pushes back a little more, communicates a bit better, and is a mirror to her.

only other thing to mention was I'm digging the frenemy relationship with Anna for the most part, but then there are times like the clip with Anna and Sonya where she flips back to hating MC and it's annoyingly inconsistent

but to everyone else I'm so sorry this volume must've been so boring

I do have mixed feelings on the love triangle bc I like the attention and angst but I'll admit it's repetitive especially bc my mc has already chosen dominic a bunch and pied off callum a lot (sometimes i choose to be messy and flirty with him during challenges though lmao) but really I feel like they need to wrap it up and have a sit down definitive conversation where MC let's him down and they get closure like mature adults but that just doesn't really happen in litg. everything is sorted through a last minute recoupling or a revelation mid challenge. like I miss in S1 if you want to be with Jake you have to break up with Levi/Mason first

no cus i totally understand your frustration, ive also quit splatfests for the moment until they get an overhaul

i suggest if you feel close to getting hateful to either shiver or shiver fans then maybe quit for a while for your own sake cus ive felt a lot better after doing so, im still really sensitive to negative comments towards frye or rude ones about shiver winning but taking some time for myself has made me feel infinitely better

ive been close to hating shiver before bc of how cocky and rude them and their fans can be but it doesnt really do anything but sour your enjoyment of the game more, so its really not worth it

i do have to say though, anyone who says "its just a game" reaaally needs to understand the frustration of people OTHER than them, sympathy is something a lot of people forget about when it comes to things that arent real life. just because it doesnt affect you doesnt mean everyone can shut off their attachment to the game or a character like a light switch; a lot of the time you dont know whats going on with them. i myself am really attached to frye cus i am hashtag autism creature and he brings me comfort, so anyone being rude to me about shiver winning really REALLY gets under my skin. its not entirely (if they were serious, if they werent then its not at all) their fault, but nintendo fixing the frustration of splatfests constantly keeling in one direction (which theyre supposed to do anyways but they havent) would definitely fix the issue. we need to find a way to have nintendo fix this, not attack anyone else for what bundle of pixels and text theyre attached to.

not everyone has really thick skin and if we want splatoon 3 to be more hospitable then we should try to cut down on the general splatfest bullassery in public spaces (being overly cocky and rude/blaming others in a way with no basis or truth behind it). its not something everyone can always do since we arent all perfect, but if we make steps in that direction then we could help more people enjoy the splatoon community rather than being eaten up by toxicity and spite

I love that when DJenks made his announcement this month, I went into the tags all morose and accepting defeat, and I saw you there still ready to fight, not giving up, ready for a marathon. Truly, that means SO much to me. A little bit of hope is a powerful thing to have, and we need people who are determined to keep that flame burning bright. So happy to have you in this fandom. You really do make a difference. 💕

Aw, thank you! I really appreciate it. And yeah, I'd almost forgotten about my blog title, which I've had for over a decade, and how hope really does embody me and everything I do.

The streaming landscape is in upheaval, things are changing by the week - even since our turbo-cancellation was announced, two other shows (cancelled for much longer) were saved. Like others have been saying, we were all mentally prepared for a marathon and realistically I don't think anyone can just call everything off after just two months when so many shows have to fight for years before getting a movie deal. I respect David - he told us that news so that we'd know that there's nothing more we can accomplish right now by shouting at streamers, and that we did make a difference. There WERE interested parties, we proved we were lucrative. But that does not mean the fight is over, it just means we need to change tactics and pivot to keeping the fandom active and vocal in the long-term, and bide our time until shifts in the industry open new doors for revisiting OFMD (like David Zaslav leaving, or Max going under, or another merger). That might be six months, or it might be six years. What I am certain of is that there's so much love and passion for this show from the cast and crew that everyone would be down to get the gang back together for a season 3 years down the road.

Basically, I have no doubts the fandom will persist - this fandom is composed of very enthusiastic and artistically talented people who have an unending well of inspiration to draw from. What I do think needs to be done though, that I'm seeing wane a bit on Twitter, is to ensure we direct that noise; most people have stopped using OFMD hashtags, which means our posts won't get noticed. Something that has been great is just how vehemently the fandom has gone after Max on pretty much every single promotional post they've made in the past few weeks - check any of them out, and you'll see 95-100% of the comments are OFMD fans using #DontStreamonMax and #FireDavidZaslav , plus the great new tagline 'Sell The Show, Let Us Go'. That is something that I feel is critical we keep up, as I think one of the most powerful means of influence we have right now is to hold this industry responsible for the cancellation of queer content and just quality content overall. That's one direction we can really put our might towards - toppling the WBD empire faster. Other things we can shout for are a physical release, 'The Jenkins Cut' of s2ep8, deleted scenes/bloopers, merchandise, etc. Max is being absolutely idiotic right now in a way that shoots themselves in the foot, because they're holding onto this IP that could have been their lifeline for keeping subscribers and stock prices up, and not only did they cancel it but they're not even maximizing on the rights they refuse to sell by promoting it or making merch of it, anything that could continue to bring in revenue for what they KNOW without a doubt is one of the best performing shows they've ever had on their platform. Them trying to forget OFMD exists is the nail in their own coffin, because it's the only reason a whole lot of people ever did business with Max in the first place.

So, the long and short of it is, I'll never stop having hope for the return of our show! David said we got the attention of this industry, and we've proven our worth. It's just a really unstable landscape right now, so we need to be patient. It's annoying to see these streamers invest in less successful and more expensive shows, but I think they're all panicking to stay afloat even though they're not making decisions that could help them there. The dust needs to settle. If we can show that there's still a loud and passionate fanbase in a year, in three years, then they will revisit us. We need to keep calling out WBD and Max, we need to keep using hashtags to be heard, and just try to settle into a rhythm that we can maintain long-term. We still have a bunch of BTS to see from Samba, and we will have WJW with David at some point. I think it's important that we DON'T request any season 3 info from him, because that's what jeopardizes the possibility of that storyline then ever getting made. I'm seeing some people on Twitter start to burn out or fall into a state of sad acceptance and if you need to do that for your health, that's fine. But I don't want that mindset to spread throughout the fandom. Our outlook, our words, do have the power to become reality - if we sit back and wave the white flag, then that seriously hurts our chances of ever getting the show back. But if we can carry on like it's just a season hiatus, continuing to demand the question 'ok so WHEN *taps watch*' then our insistence can help make season 3 a reality.

Ok hi disabled ppl on Tumblr I have a question and idk if anyone has an answer but if you do I'd love to hear it.

(TLDR: I want to take my sibling out to a gem and mineral show, but we're both visibly disabled and I don't know if the event will be full of holistic health freaks who try to cure us the whole time. I'm looking for input on whether or not it could be as bad as I'm fearing, and if it's worth trying to go)

There's a gem & mineral show coming up in my province, and I was thinking of taking my younger sibling to it since they like fancy rocks and gemstones and stuff (they have a pretty big collection and whenever I go to the farmers market they always ask me to bring them home a rock or two :D). However, both of us are visibly disabled- I'm a full time cane user with Tourette's, they're a part/almost full-time wheelchair user, and we both have autoimmune disorders. This in and of itself isn't an issue, as we've gone to things before with the wheelchair, would be wearing masks, and I'm almost 100% certain the venue is accessible (there's no way to contact them but based off the location, city website, and floor plan, it should be ok).

The problem arises with the fact that a lot of gem & mineral people also fall into the category of "wacko holistic health nuts who think disability is a punishment for not being hashtag spiritual enough and aligning ur chakras with essential oils will cure your autoimmune disease." I don't want to bring my sibling out to it if they'll be constantly harassed or pitied or anything gross like that, but I don't know how much of an issue that would actually be? My province is pretty conservative so I wouldn't expect a whole lot of those types (since conservatives ime tend to be more Christian than new age/spiritual people), but it's also full of anti-vaxxers so it's highly possible there would be a lot of them. I know I've had people be weird about it with me before in stores like that, and while I myself would be fine with telling them to fuck off, do we think it's just a bad idea? I wanna do smth fun with my sibling but not if it's going to actually make them feel worse, yknow? Does this make any sense? Hopefully lmao

But yeah if anyone has experience with going to things like that and whether or not it's going to be as overtly ableist as I'm fearing, input would b greatly appreciated /g

OK so I have to ask... Why is Jensen and Jared MaxiPadalecki's PR teams so adamant about trying to convince everyone that they still are like brothers when they're clearly not? And trust me, it SHOWS. They can honestly just say "Yeah we don't hang anymore." And I'm sure there will be some fans (like us) who will not be surprised. Friends drift apart, it happens. It's not the end of the world. Tho we all know why J2 isn't not a thing anymore and it's bc of Jared's abysmal behavior. Matter of fact, notice how anybody who gets close to Jared drifts off and away from him after a period of time except for a handful of people...

Hello!  Welcome back :)  I’ve been off Tumblr — or at least spotty — for a bit now myself, so good timing on your return!

Yeah, I don’t really know.  I mean, I confess that I don’t spend much time on the real-life bits of Supernatural (or any show) and that most of what I hear stems from those around me — especially my closest fandom friend… whose name I’m not dropping as a line of defense against stan harassment (those who spend much time on my profile can probably guess who I mean though) — but J2 really doesn’t come across as genuine friendship, much less brotherhood.  I’ve never had much taste for bts stuff, and I’ve lost most of the little I did have.  

I have, however, seen some of their con photos, conversations, etc, and those don’t seem very natural; similarly, much of what I hear about their interactions in general is very… performative?  I guess?  I’d expect much more closeness if they were actually friends.  The most recent example is from that string of show renewals and cancellations: if I were close friends with someone who just got big news like that — whether positive or negative — I’d respond to that with either congratulations or commiserations well-nigh immediately.  (I’d certainly not wait almost a week — that is, from 11 May to 16 May — before posting a save-the-show hashtag.  Maybe that’s just me.)  And nor is this the only example of the performative closeness, natural distance to which I refer, so the argument that “eh, they’re busy, it doesn’t mean anything” doesn’t hold much water long-term, even if it’s accurate in this particular case.

Pragmatically, I’d wager that the brother dynamic is an attempt to play to the show’s perceived fanbase, and that’s why the bts brotherhood is being played up.  It doesn’t make much sense to me — from what I’ve seen, it feels like most of the fandom is fractured between them anyway; I recognize that this is only my experience and not true in its entirety, but I only ever run into people who love Jared and those who hate him, and there’s rarely a middle ground — but that’s the impression I’ve gotten from the PR.

I honestly think it’s backfiring though.  I mean, it just comes across as fake and duplicitous, and I feel like they should both just cut their losses and, as you described it, drift apart.  It happens, and I tend to feel that trying to avoid that just makes things worse for all involved.  (And yeah, I certainly cannot defend JarPad’s actions and I don’t even know him/have any stake in it, to the point that I can just ignore him for the most part; I can’t imagine having to deal with him in close-quarters like a “brotherhood”, friendship, or even just as colleagues.)

Anyway… I feel like I’m rambling at this point, so I’ll wrap it up… It was good to hear from you again, and thanks for the ask!  I hope this answer was decent enough, and all the best until next time!
