Here are the two conversation paths with Hideshi. You can trigger them with or without getting a drink--You just need to stand near him to get it rolling.

Also, I triggered this conversation post-Down on the Street, during which I did introduce Goro to Wako as Hideshi, and pre-Gimme Danger. I'm not sure if the dialogue changes at all if, for instance, you don't save Goro during Play It Safe and then do this quest. However, I won't be researching that outcome myself, lmao. 😭

Johnny: V, this guy looks exactly like your ronin. Un-fuckin'-canny. Sure that ain't Takemura?

Hideshi: [to himself] Okay, just one more.

Hideshi: [to V] Yes?

V: You look exactly like my friend Goro Takemura.

Hideshi: Did he also just get out of rehab?

If V chooses "He lost his employer:"

V: Lost his employer, recently. They were close. He's adjusting to his new life. Not easy for a guy like him.

Hideshi: Tell him not to lose hope. If one is industrious, there is no shortage of work in Night City.

If V chooses "He's in rehab now, actually:"

V: Truth be told, he's goin' through a kind of rehab himself. His family turned their backs on him, he lost his home, his implants...

Hideshi: Tragic... But such are the consequences of addiction. I have been through it all.

Conclusion for both dialogue choices:

Hideshi: Maybe your friend would like to try his hand at show business? I could use a double for rainy days...

V: Hmm... Might actually take you up on that. I'll let him know.

Hideshi: Watch out. I will hold you to your word.

Why do I feel like b g 3 is going to end up like c/yberpunk where people will only like your characters and pics if they're elaborate as hell lol. I'm not saying this to be bitter that I'm not getting attention or whatever, I don't even care about that, I'm just seeing it happen to other people, getting ignored in favor of super modded and/or elaborate characters. I did use mods for Anabel, yeah, but that's not what I'm talking about, just using mods. Even modded characters who just look "normal" are suffering this.. Anyways this isn't directed at any mutuals, you guys are cool and give everyone the love they deserve and you're awesome for it, its just a general fanbase thing that seems to happen in games with custom characters and I know it's going to happen with this one too. Which is very unfortunate, because people are very passionate about their characters and, elaborate or not, they all deserve appreciation.

EDIT: I guess what I meant instead of super modded, I meant elaborate designs. If your character isn't some magical godlike person and just looks normal, even if modded (mine is!!) you aren't getting anything. And it's mostly your own mutuals giving you attention (WHICH ISNT BAD!! MUTUAL APPRECIATION IS AMAZING!!), unless you're lucky enough to have a popular blog shares them. Other than that you're just kinda fucked, and that's sad. We should appreciate ALL tavs.

NO BUT THIS IS SO TRUE... Like I like t/lou a lot, but it's DEFINETLY not the best story ever told by a video game, like I'm sorry... It's a very simple story that's just well executed, paced and acted, nothing about its themes or motifs or how they were enhanced by the gameplay (which is pretty basic imo). T/lou is like a solidly executed blockbuster movie, it's great entertainment and it manages to leave you with something to think about (if Joel did a right thing by saving Ellie), but that's really it. There's plenty of games who used their medium to push the boundaries of what a video game story can be, like the m/etal g/ear series, S/pec o/ps the line, d/isco e/lysium or c/yberpunk 2077, my current favorite that utilizes the first person perspective in a very unique way, that a movie just cannot replace.

Like I've said, I like t/lou a lot and it absolutely has influenced the medium in a big way back when it was released, but it's been almost 10 years since then, and while it's a solid, well made game that stands the test of time, it's far from "the best story games have ever told".
