Just read Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir and it is very good, y'all, definitely worth reading if you like sci-fi. I've loved The Martian (his first book) since I read it, but I wasn't as much of a fan of his second book, so I'd been putting off reading this one, but I'm glad I read it - I finished it in less than 24 hours!

Key points (no spoilers):

the characters understand the value of sleep and the fact that lack of sleep makes you stupid

a clever mix of grounded realistic science and handwaving things that make the plot happen

it opens in media res, but it's done well

Other favourite parts (with spoilers):

"Good. Proud. I am scary space monster. You are leaky space blob." ~ Rocky after being compared to a spider

Stratt's characterisation - love a ruthless woman character!! willing to sacrifice everything for humanity!! forcefully sending someone to space on a suicide mission against his will and lying to his teammates about it!! even wiping his mind about it!!

I did not see it coming that Grace could eat the taumoeba but it makes so much sense! It's a well done plot twist, in that I could have seen it coming (it's reasonable to expect that a human can eat biological matter) but did not (not least because he kept talking about how bad the taumoeba/astrophage mixtures smelt). I was expecting him to take Rocky back to Earth and then go to Erid, but the way it happened made more sense.

Rocky in general is just great, and the mismatch of advanced and unknown technology, where both humans and Eridians were missing things that the other considered essential

The science isn't quite as solid as in The Martian, but I didn't mind, because it was more about relationships and humanity and people and stuff like that

(that said, Grace's characterization was a bit inconsistent - we were told he was a teacher and a coward but neither were really shown consistently in his actions - but i can forgive that)

No romance! Yay! (unless you want to read grace/rocky as romantic, but I just read them as friends)

Just a really solid and enjoyable science fiction novel tbh

Homestuck: Beyond Canon Upd8 for 413

Happy 413 everyone! We knew we were getting something today, as James announced that earlier. This time, it's an extensive news posts with notes from the whole team. Looks like we've got a few comic pages as well. Let's see what we got!

James: I can definitely relate to what James is saying. Homestuck and its community helped me keep going when it seemed like there genuinely wasn't a path forward. Obviously it hasn't always been sunshine and rainbows, but I do still feel there is a lot of genuine goodness and greatness in our little corner of the internet.

And yay! James is an Aradia fan!

Kim:

Kim is one of the people who grew up with this comic. I honestly can't imagine what that must be like. Although I had a lot of media I enjoyed at 13, I don't feel like any of it had the kind of impact on me then that Homestuck had now. It's not like there wasn't anything good on, either! It was 1993 when I was 13, and WB and Disney were at their apex. But Homestuck hit different. I honestly can't imagine what it was like being able to relate to those kids like they could be your friends in another life, growing up along side them.

Miles:

A beautiful mindfuck is a great way to describe it. Honestly the somewhat over the top, trollish, insincere seeming way that Miles is writing shows a great love for Homestuck and the project in and of itself. The love honestly does come through.

Chumi:

Chumi appears to be even younger than Kim, though I could be wrong there. And she also grew up with it, if maybe starting a couple of years into its run. But it goes a step further for her. Homestuck is her formative fandom. And again, I can't imagine what that must be like, let alone now creating art for it.

Andi:

Andi is another member of the team to have grown up alongside Homestuck. It makes sense that this would create the most talented and passionate people to work on the project. Like many fans, though, they also had Homestuck influence their identity and help them feel safe in discovering who they were. It will always be important we have people like them keeping this fandom alive.

While the way Homestuck inspired me was different, she too was drawn in and influenced by the very artistic questions Homestuck posed. Looks like James has managed to put together a team that has all been impacted by Homestuck in subtly different ways. And I'm totally here for it!

Haven:

Oh wow! Coming in on Murderstuck! Ouch! Still, the effect Homestuck has had on them is very obvious!

It's nice to hear more from each voice behind the project. I'm glad they took the time to make this celebration a bit more personal. But with all that said and done, it's time to read an Upd8!

There is so much to talk about just from this image.

First off, this is the most like Bro that Dirk has ever looked. And it's not just the fact that we've just got a plain white silhouette with shades. There is a lot of chaos in this panel reminiscent of Bro's apartment. That outfit has absolutely never looked wackier. The anime ninja aesthetics combined with the pooffiness of those shorts is already crazy. But the Kamina cape in this looks more cliché villain than anime hero.

While we can't currently see one of the monitors, we absolutely can see that Dirk has been keeping track of our Meat crew. My guess is that the other monitor is Deltritus.

Also we get a throwback with some orange drinks floating about.

Dirk is, of course, being suitably condescending here. After all, in his mind this is the only way to make the narrative matter, to make anything that we'll give a shit about. He probably knows we still enjoy the "narrative kiddy pool" but he's counting on us truly getting invested in what he has planned.

Apparently Rose and Terezi are still a thing. Dirk only seems to partially approve of this. From his perspective, the relationship is a very Rose thing to do. And Rose doing Rose things is important to him and his plans. He also appreciates that Rose doesn't have infinite patience for the finetuning that Dirk could spend a literal eternity on. It keeps him on something resembling a schedule.

So are we going to see these "scions" of theirs?

I like that there's an obvious sea horse in that test tube. Also, outside of Hero mode Dirk is still sporting his character features at least. He hasn't slipped into being a full guardian yet.

Well fuck. That might just be the hardest anyone has ever "spoken too soon."

Hell yes! Adult Terezi is awesome! Also, she's not getting rid of her facial features any time soon!

I'd forgotten Terezi can hear Dirk's narrative. She's also very much on the "Get on with it!" train. Dirk was planning to skip ahead anyway, but of course he wants to unveil his creation first.

So Terezi will be the one that actually makes sure the new session happens. I'm surprised Dirk is allowing that. I can definitely get why he doesn't want it automated.

I can honestly believe that Dirk really does care about his creation.

And I can honestly see Terezi playing the long game. I'm honestly curious why she wouldn't, beside Dirk's fuckery.

Ouch.

Also, damn this art is so fucking good!

We've seen the way Terezi can let what she sees as a mistake eat at her. We've seen how far she'll go to fix it. Is John's death doing that to her? Is even this older, seemingly more jaded Terezi unable to let something like that go even with what's at stake?

Or could she possibly be letting Dirk think that's what's going on? I really kinda hope that's it.

Now that's just being mean pretending you don't know what she meant by being in her "CH4MB3RS", Dirk.

That's an interesting way of showing them speaking at the same time. Kinda like it.

Okay. That is some legitimate Bullshit. I like that even Dirk calls it out as such. That is a ton of power to just flex like that. His reasoning is sound, but even he knows he's partly doing it because he can.

Wow.

There is so much to potentially read into this moment. On the one had, this might be a genuine Rose moment. Even if Dirk has been manipulating her a lot, this version of Rose might genuinely be appreciative of what they're trying to do.

The other possibility is that Rose is manipulating Dirk this time. There've been hints, and I find it hard to believe otherwise, the Rose is aware Dirk has been manipulating her somehow. She may not have figured out how he's doing it, but I feel she knows. As an ascended Seer of Light, her ability to read the most fortuitous path is literally godlike. I can't imagine that definition of fortune including one where she keeps losing more and more agency. So this might be a moment where she's telling Dirk what he needs to hear to stop him from stealing more from her.

The worst part is he genuine believes that.

have you ever thought to yourself "hey wouldnt it be cool if there was an oc story made by two guys and it was about a haunted waterpark slash arcade in a fake town in a real state". you probably haven't. but if you have youre in luck! more under the cut ok.

rainforest floods is a terrible no good ocverse made by me and my good friend crawford @dykeseesgod. everyone in it sucks and is horrible except maybe one or two side characters. it's set in the podunk middle of nowhere town of timberline, new mexico, and more specifically a waterpark/arcade called rainforest floods (title drop).

also the waterpark SUUUCKS like its budget is nothing they are in debt. the managers havent paid taxes in 15 years. anyway these are the employees. theyre bad

and these are the co-managers. theyre even worse (and also toxic old man yaoi. these refs were drawn by the aforementioned crawford)

anyway yeah. they get up to wacky hijinks in what will ideally be a tv show coming out in one million years. they're also horrible and tragic. most of it is bruce's fault. some of its not though!

ok also here's some other side characters.

^ running gag that nobody knows her name except kelsey who has a huge crush on her.

^ unnamed girl's younger brother who is constantly faced with horrors and torment at the hands of the rainforest floods employees. dont get me wrong hes annoying as fuck but he didnt deserve to run on that hamster wheel. (ref also drawn by ford)

^ jeff's girlfriend. also the coolest person in timberline new mexico. worlds most unimportant minor character but she is wonderful and loved by the producers (me and cosmo)

rainforest floods stupidity logic is a thing me and robbie came up with to explain why all the characters are idiots who dont find things out that are important to the plot too soon.

there's a chain gimmick restaurant that andy's whole family runs except him. its like italian food but its like also magicians. their tagline is "so good its practically magic". andy hates it.

kyle has a curse on him so that nobody remembers or recognizes him outside of like. his family. so the rff employees arent even targeting him for their shenanigans on purpose theyre all just weird freaks.

kelsey gives unnamed girl the company landline as her phone number because shes stupid and a ghost and doesnt have a phone.

the employees all get together on wednesdays in the breakroom and compare evidence on whether or not andy and bruce are together romantically. its the one thing that truly bonds them all together.

vincent: is a watchmojo fan, had his first kiss as beethoven in his 12th grade production of dog sees god confessions of a teenage blockhead (2004), gets really christian in some episode subplot, is not a swiftie but he is a gaylor, wishes he was jonathan sims sooooo bad, types like a toddler who was just given a keyboard.

I love how the show never confirmed anything and left the viewers to decide for themselves! I like to think that Despereaux truly is one of the greatest criminals of all time, and that he conned INTERPOL for years into letting him steal more art. He probably wanted a challenge. I think his name really is Royston, though, because that's funny.

23. What other fictional universe would you like to see Psych crossover with?

I'm a huge Tolkien fan, and I'm honestly a little disappointed that Psych never did a Lord of the Rings parody episode or crossover, cause it would work so well! Shawn and Gus really do have that Sam and Frodo queerplatonic relationship tbh. Gus could be the Tolkien nerd I know he is, Lassie could be the horse girl he was always meant to be, and they would all look SO GOOD with cute pointy ears. And the guest stars? Infinite options. ok I’m like… back to this. I do love that the coffin of andy & leyley is so brutally bluntly HORROR as in not pg 13 blumhouse ghost horror movies that shy away from anything too taboo but horror that’s meant to offend & upset. I like the way it sees shit you’re not “supposed” to talk about & goes as hard as it can like - I don’t think at this point it’s a secret to literally anyone who follows me or has ever discussed fiction with me ever that the controversial or daring are obvious draws for me in any genre but particularly my favorite genre of horror.

like an anon suggested this to me, I saw the words “cannibalism” “incest” & “botched satanic ritual” as soon as I googled & was ready to check it out BUT I think it’s worth noting that it’s not the dark concepts themselves that got this game its well earned hype or that ensure that it lives rent free in my head & the heads of other fans.

I think the writers have created really compelling & complex multilayered characters & a fascinating storyline with a lot of questions left unanswered about the nature of these demons & of human souls & the world these characters inhabit & I’m being so sincere here I also think it’s a really thought provoking critique or at least exploration of the american nuclear family.

I already said this but I would’ve stopped caring pretty fast if andrew & ashley were not more than their archetypes which SURE are fun we love a quirky evil girlboss & her simp boyfriend brother but the fun archetypes are not enough on their own to keep me hooked. luckily, these are some of the least 1 dimensional characters I’ve ever seen. this got carried away talking about how good I think the game is & giving an obligatory disclaimer that yeah, I totally got into it initially for shallow & edgy reasons lol but I actually wanted to talk about the themes because I genuinely think it’s an incredibly well crafted story. anyway -

I think it’s really interesting that ashley is the one that is originally shown believing / hoping their mom hasn’t truly abandoned them. andrew discourages her from having hope in their mom or considering trying to find her until it’s about finding sacrifices for the demon & getting money. yet this initial dynamic is totally forgotten once they’re home. ashley just wants to kill these motherfuckers while andrew is busy playing mind games & - one might argue- playing house / pretending be a happy family. it’s andrew who is offered the olive branch. who we see considering sparing his parents or at least feeling conflicted about killing them. in the flashbacks we see that “andy” was forced to take care of “leyley” & she uses it against him “mom says you have to play with me.”

ashley is so depressingly achingly desperate for any hint of affection & it’s so obvious the reason she’s latched into andrew is that he’s the only one who’s ever chosen her. that’s why she’s so obsessed with calling andrew “andy” despite the conflict it constantly creates. andy helped her hide a body. a possibly hot take but I don’t think leyley was going “yay murder” in her child brain - I don’t think she cared that the girl died don’t get me wrong - but I do believe it was an accident. this is a happy memory though because it’s the only time in ashley’s entire life that someone has chosen her with that level of commitment. yet for andrew it’s horrific & traumatic & he wants to get away from it - or so he tells himself. maybe his parents were decent to him or at least not actively hateful how they were to ashley but it’s abundantly clear based on the fact the story’s premise relies on them leaving him to fucking starve to death that they do not give a fuck about him.

when mrs. graves tells andrew that there’s still hope for him & that she always cared about him the compliments she chooses are telling - they thought he was easy, quiet, a good kid - they thought they could have another (& hand her off to him to take care of). and ofc it’s worth noting mrs. graves only says all this to save her own skin & would never freely talk about caring about andrew.

so andy is living this cold not abusive but certainly empty & devoid of nurturing life & along comes leyley. she’s annoying & needy but she loves him with such reckless abandon. adult ashley’s words say it all. “If only you could love me with half the heart I love you with.” but he DOES he just doesn’t know how to show it the way she does. so he chooses her again & again & tries to make her happy with violence & bending to her will & showing her he’d do anything for her with everything he can except the one thing she wants which is simple affection.

as things get more & more dire ashley gets more abusive, controlling & manipulative embodying the worst aspects of her mother - a cold heartless bitch who never cared about anyone but herself - & andrew gets more & more apathetic just like his worthless father who’s barely even a person in his wife’s shadow.

it’s a really tragic story & I love this idea of characters on the run but they’re really running from themselves & that’s something you can never escape. how telling is it that the one thing ashley doesn’t want is to be buried in the same grave as her parents? but this story is about a grave it’s always been about a coffin in one way or another, they thought they escaped when they got out of the apartment but they’re still in it because they’ll always still be in it, you can’t escape from who you are at your core & there’s a reason ashley having tarred soul is such a glaring theme & episode 2 (in some versions) ends with andrew gaining a mark on his hand from the demon. they’re marked & there’s no escape. I’m sorry it’s just REALLY good horror. ok I’m done for now

Maya walks inside the barn with Liam and Andrea holding them as they go inside hand in hand. The four-year-old duo look around their mother’s workplace in awe since they spend most of the workday in the day care at Grey Sloan.

The reason for this visit was for Maya to fill out some maternity leave paperwork Andy said came in for her. Maya stretches her neck already feeling tired from being heavily pregnant and more exhausted than most pregnant women due to already raising two kids.

When Liam and Andrea finally finished potty training Carina brought up the idea of them having another baby. Maya was onboard because she could see how much Carina yearned for a big family and Maya was more than happy to bring more love into their lives. This time Maya was gonna carry and be implanted with a sperm from the catalog at the clinic like Carina last time.

Now Maya is six months pregnant with their third child and can see why Carina was so cranky near the end. She chalked it up to hormones and overreacting but now she can see it was because her wife was uncomfortable 24/7. But Maya wouldn’t trade this feeling of discomfort for anything else because she knows without it a healthy baby wouldn’t be growing inside her.

“Okay guys we’re gonna go see your auntie and uncles here are you excited?” They nod aggressively to Maya’s amusement, and they enter the elevator since she’s too tired for the stairs.

“Mommy are we gonna go down the firepole?” Liam asks.

Maya smiles, “If you’re a good probie for the day you can go down that pole as many times as you want. And the same goes for you too young lady.”

“Yay!” Andrea cheers and the elevator doors open.

Maya leads the two of them out to walk down the hall to the beanery, “Okay guys I’m gonna be with tia Andy filling out some paperwork while you two-”

“SURPRISE!” The beanery is filled with firefighters along with balloons, banners, and baby gifts on the table. Carina, Andy, Travis, Jack, Warren and Vic are at the center of the party.

Maya is shocked at first and then she laughs, “Oh my god I said I didn’t want to make a big deal out of it.”

Carina laughs and approaches her family, “Well now you know how I felt four years ago so consider this karma.” Carina kisses Maya before leading her to the party where Warren leads the kids to Pru so they can play in the breakroom while the grownups drink and talk. Andy hands the moms of the hour baby bottles.

“Congratulations you two, sparkling cider for the mommies and some vagina cupcakes on the table.”

Maya chuckles and lifts a cupcake that she eats slowly, “Wow I can see why Andrew was uncomfortable when he ate one, it’s good though.”

Carina smiles, “Yeah he and Amber say congratulations from Boston and Lucia insisted on sending this to us.”

Carina holds up a Red Sox baby base hitter bodysuit with a bib and booties their niece picked out to Jack’s disgust due to being a loyal Mariners fan.

“Is there any chance your niece won’t find out if you burn that or not?” Andy narrows her eyes at her boyfriend who shrugs unashamed, “Hey she’s cute I just think she should root for a better team, a good one.”

Travis chuckles, “I can already imagine Amber planning your funeral all the way from Boston Children’s Hospital.”

Vic grins, “We visited DeLuca at his practice, and he gave us this just in case the new little one isn’t rooting for Boston.” Vic holds up another bodysuit for babies this one for the Seattle Mariners causing Carina to laugh, “I guess he didn’t want his daughter to corrupt yours and felt the need to intervene.”

Maya laughs and holds both onesies, “Well I love both of them and I’m sure the baby will too. I mean it’s just games where sweaty men hit things with bats.”

“Speaking of sweaty men who hit things with bats, where are Beckett and Sullivan?” Vic asks, “Please tell me we invited them.”

Andy explains, “Sullivan and Ross are at a board meeting with the city to go over budget cuts and Beckett was sent away on a call, but he sends his regrets.”

Maya nods knowing that despite being cordial, her and Beckett are far from being besties, “I’m sure he wouldn’t move heaven and earth to make it here anyways so lets just enjoy the party and the gifts.”  

Travis goes up first with his swaddle blanket patterned with Washington DC monuments, “Well this is from her uncle Travis so she can be warm at night and think of me all the way across the country.”

“And this is from Aunt Vic who can already see great things in her while she is comfortable in Maya’s stomach.” Vic holds up another white onesie with this one saying, ‘Future President’ with a US flag below the text, “I know most kids say their gonna be the President one day but with Maya’s determination and Carina’s smarts at least one of your kids is bound to be it.”

Maya laughs and sets the gifts on the table, “Thank you we love both of these.”

“Well, you are gonna lose your minds when you see what me and Jack got you guys.” Andy and Jack disappear into the supply closet and wheel out a gray portable playard to Maya and Carina’s astonishment.

Maya shakes her head, “Guys this looks expensive we shouldn’t.”

“Oh, but you should because I bought it after much research and I’m a captain and I am good at my finances, Jack tell her how good I am.”

Jack grins, “She’s a math wiz and dispatch is surprisingly more generous than fire houses who knew? Come on guys take it, it’s got a basinet, a changing station and.” Jack pulls out the basinet and changing station showing the stuffed animals inside, “Plush friends for your kids so you guys can get a break once in a while.”

Carina smiles at the gift and immediately hugs Jack and Andy, “Thank you, you two are the best!”

Maya grins accepting the gift, “Okay I guess since you put a lot of thought into it, it would be rude of us to reject it, thank you.”

“Have you two thought of a name yet?” Jack asks, “We know you named your last one after your brother-”

“And me.” Andy reminds him that her name is also Andrea. Jack nods remembering her telling him that Maya and Carina told her the baby would be named after her and Andrew.

 “And Andy, do you have any ideas? I recommend Jackie.”

Maya shakes her head amused, “We discussed it and since Andrea was my idea, it’s Carina’s turn.”

Carina grins and faces the group, “I loved my Zia Gianna growing up, she was an OB too and I choose that profession when my papa was trying to get me into surgery. She is the reason I am the person I am today, and she would help me with my papa, and she was there when my mama died and…” Carina sighs and Maya holds her hand knowing the story, “I lost her to covid 8 years ago.”

The group nods and exchanges sad and solemn looks as Carina continues, “And when we found out we were having another girl I knew immediately what her name was gonna be. Gianna DeLuca-Bishop.”

Andy grins, “It’s a beautiful name.”

Maya grins as well nostalgic as she recites the full name they have picked out for their daughter, “Gianna Deanna DeLuca-Bishop.”

Andy, Jack, Warren and Vic look shocked knowing that Deanna is from Dean Miller, their fallen friend and firefighter. Vic is overcome with emotion and walks over to hug Maya with tears glistening in her eyes.

Maya, usually the emotionally reserved one, hugs her good friend back knowing it could be thousands of years before Dean is fully out of Vic’s mind. Jack joins in and Warren wraps his arms around the three as the three of them were Dean’s people who loved him and trusted him with their lives.

Vic pulls back and sniffles wiping a tear with a smile, “It’s beautiful he would have loved it.”

Jack smiles, “Yeah he really would have…and he would have ribbed me for getting rejected as a namesake.”

Warren chuckles, “He would…god I miss him.”

“Me too.” Vic says and Jack pulls her in for a side hug.

Warren takes a deep breath and composes himself, “Okay here’s mine and Miranda’s gift.”

He pulls out a diaper genie causing the couple to grin at the gift.

“You can never go wrong with a diaper genie.” Bailey says with a smile, “And Ben said you didn’t have one until now because you thought they were a waste of money, trust me they’re not.”

“We will test it out and tell you what we think.” Maya says with a smile and goes over to the table to open the many gifts for her and her baby with Carina by her side. The tender moment is cut by the klaxons blaring and an announcement from dispatch causing them to groan.

“Come on 19 let’s go.” Andy announces and before she leaves, she tells Maya, “I’m so sorry.”

Maya nods understanding, “It’s fine go save lives me and Carina will be fine.”

“Okay congratulations you two seriously I’m so happy.” Andy leaves them and blows kisses at her honorary niece and nephew playing with Pru, “Bye hermosa’s y hermoso, tia loves you!”

Andy leaves with her team leaving Vic, Travis, Warren and Jack behind to celebrate with Maya and Carina. While Maya opens another gift Carina holds Maya’s belly and they look at each other with so much love and endearment after all these years and three kids later. Maya puts her hand on top of Carina’s and kisses her before opening another gift for her and their unborn daughter, Gianna Deanna DeLuca-Bishop.

That Night

Maya lays on the couch of the break room sleeping after the party ended. She holds her belly like she’s afraid it’s gonna fall off any minute. Sean Beckett comes in with his gift inside a navy-blue square box wrapped with a red bowtie. He clears his throat announcing his presence causing Maya to wake up.

“Hey, I’m sorry I woke you up I just didn’t know if you knew your wife and kids already left.”

Maya rubs her eyes and stands up after some struggle, “No it’s fine the kids were getting tired, so Carina took them home while I stayed and enjoyed myself. She told me to take a quick nap before we had three kids to cut our sleep time in half. Again. I should probably go home.”

“Before you do I have something for you.” Beckett approaches her and holds out the gift box, “I’m sorry I missed your shower.” Maya looks at the box surprised a man she once considered her arch enemy got her a gift. He grins at her apprehensiveness, “Don’t worry it’s not ticking, open it.”

“Okay.” Maya takes the lid off and what is inside takes her by surprise in an unexpected way, “A binder.”

Beckett nods, “Yeah look inside.” He takes the box, so Maya is left with the black binder. She flips it open and sees the forms inside that surprise her as she flips through them.

“Life insurance. Mat leave waiver.” Maya looks up at Beckett with shock and gratitude, “You filled out all of my forms?”

“Alphabetized and laminated.” Beckett grins, “I remember you saying how much Carina hated filling out the forms and how your brother in law’s wife got some lowly hospital intern to do it instead.”

Maya chuckles at the memory from Carina’s shower four years ago, “I don’t have an intern, but I do have access to all of your personnel files and a lot of time on my hands while I’m on desk duty. So, this is my gift to you.”

Maya smiles at Beckett, “That’s…this is incredible thank you so much.” Maya hugs Beckett who is surprised but pleased as he hugs her back. She pulls away and puts the binder inside her purse ready to leave.

“Congratulations Bishop.”

“Thanks.” With that Maya leaves the room looking forward to this new chapter in her and Carina’s life.

Later

Maya is lying in bed reading a chick lit novel while Carina is curled up next to her with her lips against the pregnant belly. The baby kicks a lot at night and Maya tries reading to calm her down, but the women found that Carina’s voice soothes the baby. Carina is telling the story of when she came to the states 10 years ago and is at the part where she and Arizona Robbins ran into Andrew at her house when he brought home Amber.

“And then your Zio Andrea was yelling at me and telling me how I always went after his friends. Your Zia Amber and Arizona were like statues while we were fighting and after a while your Zio and Zia left and me and Arizona-”

Maya clears her throat clearly jealous of how Carina got lucky with another woman even before they met, “Gianna is asleep. I guess she doesn’t want to hear all about mommy’s sex life and quite frankly neither do I.”

Carina raises an eyebrow at her jealous wife, “Bella you’ve had your fair share of suitors before we settled down. I don’t get all uppity around Jack, do I?”

“I’m sorry hearing about your dating stories brings out the green monster in me and the hormones amplify it.” Carina chuckles before lying down in bed next to her. Maya looks at Carina for a moment before asking, “Did you ever think we would be here 8 years ago? I mean that moment in that bar where we first met did you think we would end up here in bed pregnant with our third kid who only goes to sleep hearing your soft Italian voice? Were you hoping it would come down to this that night?”

Carina grins at her wife, “I was just hoping to have sex with that hot blonde who came into the pit with a nose in a bag.”

Maya laughs at that, “Well I wasn’t expecting to have company that night at all and yet…”

Carina grins mischievously, “Yet?”

“Yet I decided to chance it after you were so insistent.” Maya runs her hand down her belly with a grin, “And god am I glad you were.”

Carina puts her hand on top of Maya’s smiling, “Me too, forever and always bambina.”

Maya smiles at that and leans down to kiss Carina before turning off the lamp and lying on her side. She feels Carina spooning her from behind with her arm over her belly and they both fall fast asleep into the blissful night.

INDUCTION

Sula Morioka is a Mexican-Japanese girl that when to the famous town of South Park around when she was 7 years of age, she if fairly normal but she’s really a suspicious individual not really trusting everyone who se meets one of those people can be listed but that a long list. anyways like any Asian girl in the South Park elementary she is really into the classic yaoi storyline as she soon explore about sexuality and some what, soon she realized that she’s a pansexual

friendships and some what.

she’s really good friend with Andy as one they’re both Mexicans and they can communicate in Spanish as well they have the love for Chikimon they vibe really good and as well Andy helped sula with the whole Lexi’s death

But for kin is another story as sula didn’t trusted kin at first but soon sula began to open up with kin interacting more with him and learning his backstory a bit more. And when they get older they become into a sibling dynamic as well with Andy. Most of the time the 3 hanging out with each other in a daily basis to try and help kin in a way

PLOT AND FAN EPISODE

“EVERYONE GETS DEPORTED”

so every single Mexican (people who are at least 50% or more Hispanic) get well you know deported and also in a way for the Hispanic to stay the have to pay their own ‘American’ fee (mostly it’s a lot of cash, so in a hurry Sula’s parents tells all of her and her siblings to somehow find and job and get the amount for said fee. Now for the episode sula goes and gets both Andy and her self a job in a old but popular dinner (sula get to become a waiter and Andy a cashier)

in a turn of events the USA government makes a tiny change that only the children what was born in the USA land shouldn’t play the fee

‘A CHIKIMON ADVENTURE’

Sula has always been a chikimon fan ever since she was really young and so when chikimon go came out she became obsessed with the game as she tried to get her favorite chikimon pikpik. But not just any pikpik but a shiny pinkpik with perfect stat and everything, as she tries to get the chikimon she one almost gets run over by a truck, two walks into a dog fight, three she somehow founded a company and at the end her phone gets really broken and just dies as well her account is lost when she finally get the chikimon.

‘MUSICAL PROBLEM’

(This is a short one bc it happened to me and it was my only idea)

in the last year of fourth grade all of the fourth graders are taken for them to either pick an instrument to play, and sula chooses to play the clarinet and she gets written up and so fifth grade shows up and sula goes to get her instrument and they get her a ‘violin’ so she’s a tad confused by how different the instrument, and one night she’s trying to practice and instrument talks, sula pissing her self up.

well i watched downton abbey movie 1 :3

it was good fun!! umm let's get through the niggles first

the spinny camera thing did so much spinny at the start that it was dizzying (i've also only had about 2.5h of sleep so... but i did feel like it was a biiiit too spinny)

after the king and queen left downton i felt like the movie should've ended there, interestingly, even though there was still stuff left to be resolved. i think it's because the thing to send the royal staff away/lock them in their rooms was so fun that when it was over it was like, WELL that's all over then. or idk. something.

i thought daisy and andy's convo near the end of the movie was lol. but very sweet

anyway, now for the good stuff (or at least not my major criticisms) YAY thomas got a boyfriend for a bit. also omg can't believe ... well he HAS talked to the duke ofc in 1x01 but i guess he means another servant. i guess it's hard to find gay people in a tiny village like downton, esp at that time (might even be hard now, depending on things, maybe? haha kjsffg this is not very coherent or concise, i DID only have 2.5h of sleep)

Random Thoughts in Yays and Boos and Wuts and Mehs

Yay: Hazel’s a Pink Lady. Great way to end the season. Great pay off.

Boo: That whole wedding story line. It was unnecessary and dumb.

Wut?: Jonathan Nieves leaving and being photoshopped into scenes. 

Yay: Setup for a second season with the other schools and Zuko’s big brother (I guess?). But please, please, please stop with Jane and her love life - I cannot find the will to care.

Boo/Yay/I Can’t Decide: Nancy’s treatment of Potato was not cool. Female empowerment isn’t disregarding your partner’s feelings and doing what only you want because I am woman hear me roar. That’s what gets me about some feminist media - the whole my way or the highway of it all. Compromise isn’t a dirty word - it’s called not being a jerkface and being a part of a healthy relationship (as long as it’s not one partner doing all the compromising). I know Nancy marches to the beat of her own drum and Potato clearly appreciates that but she was putting SO many stipulations on their relationship and really being inconsiderate of him a lot. I’m very happy about her owning up to that but I didn’t really like how she was going to end things with him at the carnival without discussing how they might make it work. She came off as very selfish in her behavior and inconsiderate of his feelings. In the end, they’re still my favorite couple and I’m glad they worked things out but I hope we get to see her play a more emotionally supportive role to him in the future like she did with Cynthia.

Yay (Kind Of): When I first saw the play scene from Hazel’s POV with Buddy dipping out, I thought he was jealous of her getting the limelight. But then we got episode 7 from the boys’ POV and you saw that Buddy was just reeling from his daddy drama. I was glad he wasn’t being petty. He was just hurt.

Meh: Wally and Hazel are kind of cute, but I’m a not so secret shipper of her and Buddy. I don’t like love triangles (which this show seems to be a fan of) so I hope if we get a second season that this issue gets resolved fast.

Meh: Gil is a cutie, but I am not feeling any of the girls he’s been paired with thus far. I don’t really like him and Olivia together.

Wut?: Who does Dot like? They teased it but never told us.

Boo: Where’s the sizzle? Please get Shonda Rhimes to this show stat to create some chemistry between these people. For so many romantic relationships, none of them bring the heat. Everyone’s different, but for me, for a show to be fully satisfying, I have to have a couple that I ship. That I can’t wait to see kiss and see those moments of being in love. It’s why I adored Queen Charlotte and Jackson/April on Grey’s or Andy/April on Parks and Rec.

Boo: This show reminds me a little bit of Girls in the fact that the male characters are more intriguing than the women. Ray and Adam were more interesting/likable than the main characters. I feel like it’s similar for this show. Potato and Shy Guy in particular I want to know more about. I love the women as a whole group and their times together, but individually...I’m getting less and less interested especially with Jane and  Olivia who’ve kind of become one note. Nancy (and Cynthia to an extent), I feel like is the only character who’s really grown. I feel like she embodies adolescence the best in regards to not knowing what you want but slowly figuring things out and maturing. I’ve really enjoyed her journey (just be sweeter to Potato, please and thank you).

Wut?: So is this show getting a second season or not? 10/10 would watch.

hi! i just wanted to answer your question about why people talk about bruce and dick having a gay relationship! (it’s kind of a weird interest of mine so i’m coming at this with 100% excitement of wanting to share stuff i’ve learned and 0% hate or malice). so it was kind of like a joke starting around the late 1940s/50s when batman started becoming more “campy” but wasn’t widespread or serious until this psychologist fredric werthem wrote a whole ass book called seduction of the innocent where he like basically blamed batman for turning kids gay. which is. hmmm. anyways from there i think the relationship started to be looked at with more of a microscope so platonic instances between the pair were viewed as more romantic and specifically homosexual. then it became even more of a rampant running joke when batman the 1960 tv series came out and it was full of camp and innuendo. im pretty sure the actor that played robin even said something about homosexuality being implied/a possibility in his book but don’t take my word for it. after this more campy era when batman started becoming more gritty and especially after movies like the dark knight this kind of became forgotten. if this is truly something you’re interested in i would recommend reading the essay batman, devience, and camp by andy medhurst. i hope my block of text doesn’t bother you too much, and i apologize if i misunderstood your original post! i also want to mention that the actual relationship bruce and dick have is (at least to me and other non shippers but no hate) a father son relationship and this is more about the general public’s perception on their relationship in the mid 20th century who weren’t necessarily fans of batman and probably didn’t know much of the backstory. but that’s where that comes from i think. have a great day!

I won't lie, I did want to get more about the actual comics, because I feel like there's been too much conflating of actual comics history with, like, the history of how people respond to those comics. Sure, it's a part of the overall history surrounding comic books, but it's also quite different, you feel me? As for the ship poll context... when it comes to pushing for BruDick as a ship, I don't really care about how famous it is among homophobes, I care more about their actual canon dynamics. What makes them interesting as a pair? What do the actual fans think/thought back in the day? So thank you for answering that latter question! It was jokes for fun then, I see. :)

See you next season, Station 19

So the finale of Station 19 started off quite slow, where all of the characters were mingling at the ball and all the scenes were awkward... The episode only got going when we saw Maya and Carina, it was so refreshing to see them happy and light, even when Carina responds to Maya regarding not having a dress, “there was a time when I thought I wouldn’t accompany you”. I think Old Maya would have been annoyed by that statement but it doesn’t effect her at all - yay for continued character growth! Question to the writers: could Carina not have had multiple dresses for the ball and she was trying different ones on to incorporate the sexy scene? Maybe I don’t understand it, but it did lift the rest of the episode for light conversation. 

Jack used to annoy me but the fact that he is always finding the person that needs help lets me know that he has a good heart and ultimately, just wants to save everyone. He isn’t my favourite character but I hope he remains on the show...

Bless Natasha for asking Robert to love her, how brave to stand infront of someone you love with a huge dealbreaker. Sullivan’s career is so important to him so she should have known how high the stakes were. Honestly, how did he think that he could become Captain given their romantic history? It would have never worked!

I love that Vic encouraged Andy to share that she was Captain, it felt like the earlier seasons where their friendship was highlighted and they supported each other. 

Anyone else wish that Theo was stuck under some concrete next to Dixon? The audacity of him to think that he was the only one that deserved to be Captain frustrates me beyond belief. How can he be angry at Vic for supporting Andy? How can he always think he does no wrong? How can he always twist what Vic is trying to say? Vic deserves someone who fights for her and not just gives up on their relationship without a fight. Cheating on Vic with Kate - someone gotta tell Vic now so that they can haul his ass out of the house and we never have to see him again. 

For a couple of shots after the floor collapsed, Marina was nowhere to be seen - I thought the writers wanted to add more drama to the Marina fandom. I’m so glad that they did not take that route!

Highs from the episode: Being rid of Dixon, Maya and Carina being in a very good place, Natasha surviving the floor collapse, and Victoria celebrating Andy even though she knew Theo would explode. 

Lows from the episode: Sullivan only realising that he wants Ross when she might be dead - she deserves to have someone that is sure of her (I’m a Chief Ross fan y’all). Dixon’s wife - did she need to be there? And why on earth can she never remember Ben?

I look up to you so much (even though I’m a lil older!) i am so sorry that the last of your teenage years weren’t what they were supposed to be, and that you had to deal with such toxicity for just being you. I was a member of certain fandoms for a while (& became, unfortunately, very chronically online - although I never participated in negativity towards any creators, thankfully one braincell stayed working 😩) and honestly, I didn’t realise how damaging just being in the fandom was to my mental health & general well-being until I left, which means it would have been so much worse for you; and I am so incredibly sorry. It is lovely to see you so much happier now (& also incredibly inspiring, I can’t imagine how hard it would have been to 1. Deal with the unnecessary hate and 2. Be able to move past it all, but you did both!) if I could give you a big hug rn I would. You are beautiful inside and out and I wish you nothing but happiness for the future. Lots of love ❤️❤️❤️❤️

yeah, being a content creator in that space was really damaging. i was just talking to my therapist about it yesterday and she told me she was proud of me for moving past everything (yay!). but i think, and i mean this in the nicest most respectful way possible, most of the people in that community, whether it be fans or creators, were not at their best mentally. i remember i would see something negative about myself and look through the accounts of the people saying this stuff because in my head, i was like “what kind of person just says this?”. and more often than not i would see them talk about their depression, or problems at home, and just a lot of things in that area. this helped me humanize them in a way. and i think being a creator or a fan in this kind of space was not conducive to a positive mental state. so yeah lol i get what you mean (sorry for the little rant there). and thank you so much for ur kind words, lots of love and a big hug to you too❤️

Here is an Owen thing that I absolutely loved – the way he kept eye contact (until Andy spoke directly to him) with O’Brien during Andy’s testimony – Neal played that role so well – he truly looked like he was in pain over the situation. – Owen was the person he could look at and know he wasn’t being judged, just supported in the way he was trying to support his nephew’s wife.

It is what you do Owen.

So glad he was reminded that he had a son – and decided it was convenient for him to stop by. – I get that a lot of people absolutely love this whole scene – I like parts of it – but as I have mentioned previously – Owen & my Father are very similar & that makes it incredibly hard to see this gesture as one towards TK – but rather see it as one to assuage his own guilt.

Tim’s comment about Owen being the dad of the Groomzilla is fucking stupid as shit – sorry but that says that TK will be the groomzilla – the groomzilla can ONLY be the groom (in this case either or both Carlos & TK would qualify) – the father would be a Dadzilla – not the dad to the groomzilla. It really isn’t that fucking hard – but Tim likes to make TK look like the diva anyway – so I guess that is pretty on brand for him.

Sorry Owen, but one of those men is on his second wedding/marriage – they can’t all call Iris his wife in other eps and then act like this him marrying TK is Carlos’ first marriage.
