“How many did you eat?” 

That’s like asking the Mandalorian how many people did he collect as a bounty hunter. Sure, Grogu ate a lot of things.  He liked eating. It was essential to life. And since, as he has explained before, life is essential to the Force, he eats a lot. 

Of course Din Djarin didn’t really ask him that question about the dung worms. Nope. He didn’t care about how many worms Grogu ate. He also didn’t care about how many cups of broth Grogu drank. Nope. He only cared about the eggs. 

They weren’t just any old eggs either. The Mandalorian cared about the Frog Lady’s eggs. Well, Grogu had cared about them too and he’s talked about that until he was blue in the face. (Which isn’t an easy color to achieve given how green he is).

It was nice to think that eggs mattered to the Mandalorian. Because eggs were interesting things. They were mostly water, with protein and fat, with maybe a tiny sprinkling of minerals and other chemicals that Grogu couldn’t even remember the names of, let alone spell correctly. 

Grogu had to think hard to find things, that weren’t critters or people, that were like that too. Critters and people were a lot like eggs, no matter where they came from. Which was fine. Grogu liked variety. 

Vegetables of course, were a different matter. Vegetables were mostly carbs. Some had a bit of protein. Others had a bit of fat. Certain ones had all three. But still, they were mostly water and carbs, oh, and a thing called fiber. Grogu only liked certain carbs and none of them came from vegetables. Nope.

What he did like, almost as much as eggs, was fruit. In particular he liked the seeds that came from fruit. One of the great things about seeds as a snack is that they contained more protein and fat than carbs or water. So they tasted delicious. 

Master Yoda used to keep a little jar of seeds from the Yarum fruit among his things. Grogu remembered them because the Jedi Grand Master once shared some with him. “Find these delicious you will, padawan.” 

Master Yoda was right. They were delicious. After that, Grogu wanted to eat them all the time. But the Jedi Temple didn’t keep them on hand for just anyone. He didn’t like to bug Master Yoda about things like that, but he didn’t mind bugging that cheek pinching Librarian at the Jedi archives. 

Grogu didn’t know if Yarum was the name of a place or just the fruit or plant or whatever, but he was determined to find out where they came from, so he went to the library and asked. At first they didn’t find very much information. Then Master Beq had entered the library and the librarian asked him if he had heard of the Yarum fruit or its seeds. 

“You’ll find them on Dagobah and other swampy planets. Why? Has Master Yoda run out of his supply?” Kelleran Beq had asked them.

Grogu had explained that he was the one who was interested in finding a source for them. 

“Ah. Well, when I next go to there or to Naboo, I will collect some for you. I know you like the arboretum. Perhaps you can create a small swamp habitat there and grow some of the fruit, so you will have your own source of the seeds. But I warn you, Master Yoda likes them very much. He says a Jedi can survive on those seeds and the Force and nothing else.”

Wow. It had been a long time since Grogu had seen Master Beq. But he never forgot him or his words. They had been very wise. 

There were somethings so good in the world that they could sustain you all by themselves. In Grogu’s experience the list of things that did that was short. Yarum seeds, frog eggs, and good friends, not necessarily in that order. It had also been his experience, that ‘one’ had never been enough. And Grogu had never bothered to keep count of them either.

Ever since the last conflict between Los Parajos and Los Chuvilatas, neither leadership have chosen to fight for their own cause, rather attempting to make amends with each other. Despite this move, many from both sides have shown dissatisfaction with the decision. A recent meeting in Yarumal between low-ranking generals from both sides to discuss the leadership structure ended with bloodshed, and it was suspected that this was the result of a negotiation gone foul. An open letter has been sent by members of the Los Chuvilatas stating intent to not work with their historical enemy, and should their leadership choose to go against all their beliefs and go rogue, that they will not follow through with it.
