Some pieces I did for a weekly drawing prompt thread on another site! This week's theme was 'Wonderland', so we got Thai as the Mad Hatter (ft. littol baby Cinnamon as the March Hare) and Yarrow as Alice!

Who is Yarrow and why are you and @ship-of-skitties putting them through the horrors lmao

Yarrow is a character of mine! :D He's a young 11-year old boy who was bullied for most of his life because he looks somewhat girly. He's also painfully shy, so he doesn't have any friends- until recently, that is!! He is now besties with two other kids- Mari and Zinnia- who are teaching him how to get out of his shell and love himself. Sounds like a happy ending, right?

BZZT!!! WRONG WRONG WRONG!!!

You see, the whole point of Yarrow is that I was inspired by my friend, @neoncityrain's, character, Polaris- Polaris has a really neat thing about him, that being that he ages in real time (every year they ages a year)! I wanted to do something like that as well- but with a twist.

It's still Yarrow's first year of creation, so I'm not doing anything yet because I want him to have one year of happiness with his friends (and so I have time to flesh everything out), but THE MOMENCE THIS LITTLE SCRUNGIE TURNS TWELVE, HE IS GOING TO BE THROWN INTO A TIME LOOK >:D The time loop is about a year long, starts on Yarrow's b-day (June 3rd), and not only is Yarrow the only one who remembers anything the past year, but the only one who ages. Unfortunately, his friends don't remember him and aren't friends with him at this point in time!

SO, HE BASICALLY HAS TO TRY TO GET HIS FRIENDS BACK, WITH A STEADILY INCREASING AGE GAP. AND AS YEARS GO ON, WITH THE FRIENDSHIP RESETTING EVERY YEAR, IS IT EVEN WORTH TRYING TO GET THEM BACK? IS IT EVEN POSSIBLE? IS YARROW EVEN THE SAME PERSON HIS FRIENDS KNEW AND LIKED BACK THEN??? WILL HE EVER ESCAPE THE LOOP? WHAT'S THE POINT OF MAKING AND FRIENDS AND BEING AROUND OTHERS AND DOING GOOD IF IT DOESN'T MATTER-

*deep, rapid breaths to catch myself* SO yeah. Gonna put this little skrunky through The Horrors™ because I love him <3 Here's some art!

LITTTTLE GUYYYYYYYYYYY-

Made a new 100% certified blorbo today! :D This is Yarrow, and he is the protag of a little project I’m calling ‘Sweet Asylum’! He is very sweet and kind and always wanted to make friends- however, he’s very shy and was bullied quite a bit for his more girly appearance. But recently, he has finally befriended not one, but two other kids! <3 Yarrow also has autism and has a special interest in plants, gardening, and flowers! He is semi-nonverbal and prefers to sign when he’s feeling anxious or shy.

What makes them cry? do they cry easily?

Okay, if you look at Yarrow the wrong way he's going to cry X"D A lot of stuff brings him to teard, but he usually cries the most (and more easily) due to general unkindness or anxiety.

Do they fall asleep easily? what helps them sleep?

Yarrow doesn't naturally fall asleep easily due to something called ✨️anxiety✨️. However, he does take melatonin and has Therabee, so both of those help a lot! However, he'll sometime drink some herbal tea as a last-ditch effort on nights were he's feeling particularly restless.

Whats a side of your oc that they don't want to show other people?

Typically his more feminine side! Yarrow has been bullied by other boys for most of his life because of that- and that's just because he looks more effeminate. Yarrow does enjoy and wants to try some more girly, typically feminine stuff, but he's very scared to share this part of himself with others. If he was bullied just for slight appearance reasons, imagine how bad it would be if the bullies ever found out about the other stuff he enjoyed.

What is their biggest fear? do they have any irrational / mundane fears?

^Definitely the whole bullies finding out about his more girly side, but also his beasties leaving him for any reason.

What is the worse thing your oc could hear from someone?

Probably just hurtful insults invalidating and ridiculing him and the stuff he likes :c

Do they believe in luck? are they lucky?

Yarrow believes in luck but doesn't take it too seriously, so to speak? He has regular luck, but it's skewed slightly towards bad lmao

Do they act differently around certain people? what's different between the way they act around friends, family, strangers, etc.?

Yarrow is really only super open with his two besties (Zinnia and Mari). He's very reserved and doesn't really open up at all to anyone else, including his parents.

How do they react to injury / misfortune befalling their loved ones (significant other, family, friends)? do they put themselves at blame?

Yarrow would 100% blame himself for anything bad happening to his besties or parents (if he could find some way to connect the dots lol). On the rare occasion he can't find any reasoning, he'll try and comfort said friend or parent.

Before meeting his friends, Yarrow hasn't had a chance to talk about all the bullying and anxiety he's been going through.

A soft headcanon

Zinnia occasionally paints Yarrow's nails and picks out his outfits! :D (in private and when he's feeling brave enough)

Do they have any self destructive tendencies? what habits do they have that hinder them from becoming their best self?

Yarrow socially isolates himself (apart from his besties) and has pretty bad anxiety. He also has a negative self image of himself and low self esteem and confidence.
