Yanggaw (2008)
A Filipino film directed by Richard Somes.Â
It has a mix of Horror-drama-mystery genre to which gave this film a vibrant scenery for thrill seekers out there. From an Ilonggo myth derived of Filipino myth about âaswangâ meaning âmonsterâ.
Set in a small village like a barrio hidden between the forest grounds lies the family where a certain female arbors dark, mysterious vibes amongst the happy family.
The pro-antagonist named Amor, later on carried a unique and unidentified sickness that no doctor or ambularyo couldnât identify and cure, therefore leads to different concoctions for Amor but hints of no cure.
Mysterious beliefs o âpaniniwalaâ of a certain province are assured to be formed for people to be wary of.Â
Later on from the movie shows animals, even people are butchered and brutally murdered in which, yes, Amor the protagonist at first then becomes the antagonist of the film causing uproar and tremendous killing spree in the village because of the unidentified disease that she have.
Over all this film captures the scene of a true-to-life feels. It did a great plot-to-plot basis of the story.

with kerry's backstory with Shirley from fate zero and my parents' insistence that i was attacked by the local equivalent of vampires, I could dead-ass say in type-moon terminology that I was attacked by a Dead Apostle Ancestor when I was three days old
#kiritsugu yelling pisti yawa gets me#Shirley's backstory is just Amor from yanggaw#my high school seatmate lived in a city that has a place called alimango#I'm the most qualified person to write a Shirley fanfic tbh#but I'm to lazy to do so#fate series#fate zero#kiritsugu emiya#pls don't ask me anymore abt type moon lore nuances#if urobochi could use a filipina gal in kiritsugu's backstory#I might as well add local culture and beliefs regarding such things

Kwentuhan kita boy. Gusto mo? Let's see who's LAWLAW!đ
Ilonggohon ko lang or englishon ko? Daw ga palag gid abi kamo kung ma ininglish ko.. hahaha. Anyway it goes like this...
Sometime in September last year I went on a Birthday/Despedida of a very dear friend. I was so drunk that I unfortunately lost my very precious at di pa bayad na iPhone6s. So I went home feeling so helpless plus my hangover pa te loyloy pako eh but I'm lucky enough to have found my smaller old phone. I immediately contacted my friends of what happened coz I might just have left it at the hotel room.. So there.. FAST FORWARD ta ha..the following evening - around 2 a.m., during wee hours I was awakened by a very loud ring. It kept on ringing that I can't help but to look at who's calling and to my surprise wooof it's that itchy bitchy girl! I was shocked, surprised and confused.. why would you be calling me at this hour? Are we even friends? đ€ Hey wait a minute. This is not my messenger acct. This is his! Oh! I forgot that he used to log in to this phone.. but why? Why would you be calling someone whom you just met, for the record it's barely a month since you've met him and at 2 in the morning? Seriously? Nag libog ulo ko. So I checked the messenger! And boooom saw the freaking photos. I was crushed! How did this happen? When? Why? So I called him and asked why. He answed why and the end...
Bitin ka? Wait there's more.. a lot more! And it became more intense but exciting and a lot of holding back that temper and I was really trying to compose myself... really really hard!
The next thing I knew, everybody knew it already before I even did. So ako na lang wala kabalo? Daw tanga lang noh? So tama ka. Ka lawlaw gid sa akon. Tama gid sya iya abi ka maayo. Maayo gid mag maneuver. Dw ka expert gid bla. Well, basi it comes with a lot of experience??. Wala ka lng kabalo.đ€
So ari na.. na feel nya nga everybody was talking about her. Na feel nya ha nga daw my something gid indi na nya lang ma explain. Well ang rason dira girl is because kung my pilas na bala dali lang gid ina mag hapdi batyagan mo gid dayon.. So nag request sya if we can talk. I wondered ngaa maistorya kami. In the first place I don't have any business with her, guilty? Buot singganon my gn himo sya. Ako ya that time, wala ko care. Worst of all nag send pa picture sang ultrasound! Indi ka ayhan sina ma wild?!! Pero I said it was not worth it and I was ready to let go.
But no she insisted. So kay educated kunuhay kag may manners man ko mo, bonus na lang ang pag ka bright ko sige eh kadto man didto with a positive mindset nga basi pa man lang ma fix ang tanan. So we talked and talked. She said that had she known it was not the case she should have already backed off. Pero diba kamo pa? Why would she even entertain him in the first place? Marupok lang? Or makati? Pampalipas oras? Anyways, Okay usapang matino. Tinarong nga istorya and she said "promise mapalayo na gid ko ya. I will not ruin everything." And I was hopeful too that maybe isa lang ato ka pagkakamali and she's gonna straighten things up.
Ampt! đ Now they're back again!
Nag sportsfest lang kami wala gid nag untat. Maoy pa akon bala. đđđ That was so unbecoming of me pero te I was hurt mo. Ano ko bato? Naabtan lang November kag December wala gid nag untat! Ako ya? Martyr ang gaga! Eh ano karon? This is me. If I die crying and broken hearted ano lavooot niyo? Diba? Amo na akon mo. But then he was already trying to win me back. Gwapo siya mo pero kay inlove ko? Hahaha.
So now she feels like my man is getting back on me, gin access nya pa ang messenger sang isa.
Kadiri ah. đđđ
My events, pumupunta sa house ni kuya?
Hala oi! Ka thick ba sang fez mo dzai oi.. Abi pag bugtaw!
During mid months of this year, kay dead na dead gid kuno c koya (partner ko) ky girl siling niya gina contact sya. Ti hala okay ah ikaw na ang gwapa. Pero delekadeza dzai ngaa makipag kita ka pa? To prove who's who? Ano nga utok? Daw tama man timo ka bigatlan para mag amo pa sina? Ano high school? Basi gina katlan ka lng, indi man? Kag ako pa karon ang lawlaw sa lagay nga na ha. Mahina lang gid ako mag imbistigar ah. Waay ko pa bi nakuba ang "evidence" ko nga subject.đ
Then here's where you boy enters the scene. The very smart but naive bf ni indzai!
You've got big balls to confront me which, honestly na appreciate ko gid but to belittle me because of my feelings, my emotions towards what had transpired was a blatant display of arrogance. You were so cocky and proud. Pero waay ka gid bala ka realize nga ikaw sobra pa sa akon. You were stabbed sooo many times but you let it go. Pag ka martyr oi! Slow clap be. đđđ Kag this is not a court dzong and I don't need to practice my lawyering skills to people like you. Ya imo argument gani balik-awot pay di ka patol patol so be it na lang. A friend once told me, there are people nga kadali istoryahon pero budlay paintindihon. And you're one of those people. âOi tympa ano man basi na offend ka na naman ga eninglish ko ha.đ
Padayon ta ah.. You confronted me and asked few questions but oh you knew soooo little! You were fooled around. Te dzong utro ka man ah. Halo, tanga at bulag ka man sa gugma. TI SIN-O KARON LAWLAW? Ako?! Haha. Oh c'mon!
Oh well it looks like okay man kmo te ano pa gid? Ti kung amo kamo sina ka strong ano man tana akon sa inyo? Wa ko care oi. Whatever version it was that you heard wala gid ko pakialam dzong. I don't care! So kung mag hinambog ko ka english ko wa kamo pakels. I'm well equipped don't worry.đđ€Ł
So yes amo ni ang lawlaw nga gina tawag nyo who's sooo good in english, in grammar pero dzong mas maayo gid tana batasan ko ya indi lang ko pag unahan., I'm cool. Te batas ka imo amo na to gani ni gin himo sa akon waay ko gid gani na tinamparos okon gin guramos ang itsura nya hay man may manners pa ako. May delekadeza. Te kung waay ina ano na lng? Basi na pang salapid ta na kamo..aw ah! Istorya lang ah.đđđ
Reason why I spared so much time for this? Wala lang. Kay LawLaw ko, I have plenty of thoughts in my mind.
Kag kabalo gid ko ya nga YOU KNOW YOUR WORTH. Hahaha. Worth pila ka lang gni ah?đ€«đ€«đ€« đđđ
To end, let me leave you this to ponder. Hurting someone can be as easy asthrowing stones in the sea. But do you know how deep that stone could go? How can you even sleep at night?
And one more thing. Just so you know. He may have caused that small wound but you caused the rest that almost broke me. I hope you're happy with that.
Spread the love ya'll. Peace out!

YANGGAW (2008)
Whenever I see or hear the word âAswangâ, I instantly look back to the old days where my childhood friends first told stories about it during Halloween. All there was to watch in the TV during Halloween were horror stories, and I hated it. I spent my time trying to distract myself from scary thoughts. Years later, I discovered this film and I canât help saying that Iâm glad I did.
âYanggawâ meaning âInfectionâ in Ilonggo, is a horror-drama indie movie that tells a story of the Aswang, an old Ilonggo myth, and the story of a fatherâs unconditional love for his children.
The film revolves around Amor, daughter of âJuniorâ, who comes back home with an illness and collapses at their gate. Junior, the patriarch of the family, lives in a small town of farmers called âCordovaâ, instantly takes her in. Junior insists that they take Amor to a hospital as he is deeply worried about her condition, while his wife Inday suggests that they take her to Lazarus instead, a faith healer from the next town since it wouldnât cost money. Inday then finds out that Amor has been âpoisonedâ through the ears by something, an unseen entity, infecting and slowly turning her into an Aswang. Junior tries his hard to keep this a secret from everyone in the town as he doesnât want Amor to be labelled as a monster as he still believed she could be cured. Junior even goes far as to borrow money from his friends to get Amor treated by a good doctor. He approached Dulpo, a close friend and a former colleague when Junior was still a tanod, but was unable to lend any money.
Eventually, it kept getting harder to hide the truth as the nights passed. Amorâs condition was getting worse, attacking animals and even the tanods at night. Lazarus couldnât help Amor at that point for she had already turned into an Aswang. The family then decided to chain Amor up for weeks, but Junior couldnât bear to hear her screams every night. So, he releases Amor, and in return asks her to promise not to harm the family. In spite of everything turning against him, Junior still tried to protect Amor until he had to end her misery finally realizing himself that she was beyond saving anymore.
Although the film turns horrific as it progressed, there were particular scenes in the beginning that made me like it. Junior and Dulpoâs volleyball match, playing as if theyâre still in their teenage years. It didnât matter what they were playing or where they were, they were still happy in the harsh life of their neighborhood. The setting of the film and editing were refreshing to the eyes for a millennial used to the sights of tall buildings and flashy effects in videos. There were no signs of digitally-edited scenes throughout the film, just like the classics. Of course, the film would never reach itâs potential without the help of two great actors such as Ronnie Lazaro (Junior) and Joel Torre (Dulpo). Lazaroâs portrayal of a struggling father really immersed you in the film, making you feel how precious a fatherâs love for his children is and how far theyâd go for their happiness.
Compared to other horror films, Iâd just wish they made more films like Yanggaw. Simpler production yet following a well-written script and not just making your heart stop every few minutes but also just pulling your heart strings even a tiny bit. Iâd recommend this film to anyone who appreciates simple indie films like myself.

Yanggaw, dir. Richard Somes (2008)Â
This movie seemed all so vague to me and had left me clueless. I had no single idea of what or how this one was going to roll. For one, I didn't know what âYanggawâ means nor did I take the time to look it up. I usually make assumptions and expectations just by reading the title, cover/thumbnail, or the logline of the movie, but everything was so vague that I watched it blind â which certainly was a good thing, because I didn't know what to expect, nor how the different acts in the movie would be like. In this way, it's more thrilling to watch, as if you're going for an adventure where things wait for you to find out. After seeing the first few scenes of the movie however, I assumed that it's more of a spiritual and horror movie, in which I was right. It was exactly what I was expecting, except for a few parts like the aswang since I was expecting more of a paranormal kind of horror rather than a gore one. Nonetheless, I'd say it was a gratified expectation, not only for the genre nor the plot, but also how it was going to end. Even though what I expected turned out to be just right, I don't see it less of a great film.
In terms of the conventions shown in the movie, they broke the stereotype of aswangs usually seen as the enemy to protect your family or loved ones from. Whereas in this movie, the aswang was actually a part of the family. While her father who strongly believed in aswangs and had always been aggressive and violent, suddenly became all caring and protective of his daughter despite her turning into an aswang. Some other conventions with regards to plots like this weren't further changed, such as the setting being in a small provincial town with the main characters being a big family consisting children. Another is the typical doctors; may it be from the local hospital or just an herbalist of some sort. These are few of the common conventions seen in a film that tackles local mythical creatures.
As for the style, I have to commend the color grading for this one. It's what I've noticed ever since the movie began. It was the perfect color that have set the mood of the film. It achieved what they want to show the audience, and it also gives off a more powerful vibe and impact to it. The dull earthy tones frequently used throughout the film had heavily made the film more effective in conveying its genre and plot. Although some of the sound effects or Foley made me cackle as it turned more comical than horrifying, the overall ambiance set through editing was definitely well-established. The narrative, however, was a bit off-putting to me in a way that they kept on showing scenes that have little background or context that is often confusing for the viewers. I had to play back some of the scenes repeatedly because I thought I might've skipped some dialogues, but it was just how the writers have decided to tell the story. Even though to some point, I found it annoying, it made me grew more intrigued, wanting to keep watching in the hopes that my questions may have answers throughout the film. Although there are a few questions I had unanswered such as: how did Amor get the poison; why did Amor's boyfriend leave her without saying anything; and what did the âthiefâ steal from Junior and Toto that made them beat him up so badly? Those are just few of the questions that bothered me throughout the movie, but still found the plot and ending just.
The emotions of the characters in the film express confusion, guilt, and frustration. These emotions are what made me, as a viewer, feel as well. Although to some parts, especially on the side of Junior and Toto who both dwell on anger since they're both aggressive and violent, I felt more puzzled in a way because I didn't like how they use violence as a reaction to any harm or burden to their family. Even if they do mean well, I can't find myself agreeing with that kind of mindset towards any offense or damage done.
I can't bring myself to like this movie for the reason that I did not like the decisions made by Junior, the main character. For some reason, I apply my own values and ethical beliefs when watching films. That is why whenever the main character happens to create decisions I do not agree with and did not develop into the person I would want them to be, I have a tendency to not like the movie, but only as a personal preference. Regardless, I still think that it is a great movie as it tackles ethical issues and dilemmas such as resorting to violence, wherein it shows that by doing such creates more problems than actually putting an end to it. The quote, âeye for an eye and the world goes blindâ can be heavily correlated to the message behind the movie. Perhaps, it is also a metaphor to how poor the justice system we have in this country is.

âYANGGAWâ review
Junior is the main character of the story; he is a father of a family in the province. One day, her daughter, Amor became randomly ill. She wasnât able to move at all, becoming bedridden, but waking up with having bloody hands and being dirty. Junior became very worried and was alarmed, so he went to their local healer, and discovered that his daughter has been âwitch craftedâ by someone, and slowly turning into an âaswangâ.
The family decided not to let the public eye know that one of them is an âaswangâ, instead they tried to deal it with themselves. Little did they know Amor will become a reason on why the family will fall apart. Junior and his wife truly loves their daughter and will do everything to stay together as a family. This shows that Filipinos value family more than anything in this world. With them keeping Amor under the same roof as them, they have to suffer in a lot of consequences. For they truly believe it is their duty as parents to care for their children.

YANGGAW MOVIE REVIEW
The film Yanggaw, is directed by Richard Somes, it is a Filipino film which answers to the horror genre type. The word âyanggawâ in english means affliction, which means pain or suffering, the word itself somehow summarizes the concept of the film. Amor was diagnosed with an unknown illness which had her coming back home to her province where her family lives. Due to lack of money Junior and Inday, the parents of Amor, had to ask Lazarus, a healer who diagnosed her with an infection in her ear. As time passes certain symptoms like, being able to smell pregnancy and having a bloody dead goat beside her, led to the conclusion that Amor was indeed in fact a Filipino mythical creature called an âAswangâ. Even though her family was determined to protect her secret it somehow led to a heartbreaking ending.
Well since it was made clear that the film was horror, it had some granted expectations such as Amor somehow killing even at least a part of her family, especially when there was already a baby involved, since âaswangsâ are known for targeting pregnant women. To be honest the whole journey was quite thrilling, terrifying, but thrilling, the film itself was quite good, though of course there are some scenes that are may have lost my interest a bit, but still, I loved it. It made me feel various of different emotions, like anxiety, fear and sadness. The scene that impacted me the most was the ending, wherein he found out that Amor killed her own nephew and ate him, as a father, it is heartbreaking to know that you do not have any other choice than to make the hardest decision for the good of many, including the rest of your family, and this time, he had to kill his own daughter to protect his family and to end her suffering or âyanggawâ. That scene alone made me feel sympathy towards the family, I cannot imagine the feeling of losing one of the people you care most about your life. The narrative of the film, was great it explained the title well, not just the life of Amor, but also the lives of the family, it presented poverty and how painful it may be to not be able to support your family well, especially if one was severely ill.
For a horror film, I am quite glad to know that it is not that gory and censored some scenes that may contain lots of blood. To be honest, I quite like it, I am a fan of the supernatural aspects of life or films that is related to anything in that genre. One of the things that I like about the film is that it is more on the perspective of the âaswangâ herself, it showed her side of the story, and that she had not meant for anything gruesome to happen, but had no choice for that matter, since she cannot control the hunger forever. After harming one of her family members and killing them, she begged her father to kill her, to end her pain and suffering, to pity her, the scene itself showed how much she cares for them, that even sacrificing her own life was the best and only option, rather than continuing to harm others, and will result her to harm her each of her family members further. And to end this review, I would definitely consider to recommend this film to be watched by people that I know as well, since it somehow captured my interest and it would surely not disappoint.

Yanggaw film review
Dimasacat Michael Kim
The story is focused about the ordinary life of a family in a community in a far place province. One day a girl from the said family went home who had been infected by an illness not so normal. She is then becaming weak as the days gone by and slowly turning into a mystery. Later on the story, she was seen without her slippers and she is covered in blood. The Father of the family later on new that his daughter was possessed by an evil spirit and since they lived in the province, he thought of her daughter at night becomes into an âaswangâ. A local healer or witch doctor said that his daughter is now an âaswangâ. Soon the news spread to the town and to the authorities. They were alarmed about this âaswangâ thing.
And as the movie progresses, you would see that the father would really do anything to protect his own family even if it costs his life. This film tells us how the people in the province would think of illnesses and they would believe witch doctors over real doctors. The Aswang folklore also has been already a part of the Philippine horror/ mysteries. If you would ask me personally, Im not quite sure if they are real and if they do really exist since all of my life here on the Philippines has been in the cities far away from the mysteries of our ancestry roots. But I remember that my grandfather before told me while I was still young that when he and his friends were still living in Mindoro, they have seen and heard âaswangâsâ in their area. I know my grandfather and I know for a fact that he is not lying since he has seen a lot of things before he and my grandmother moved here in Marikina.
There is still a lot of mysteries that science canât explain and to be known till this day. If aswangs do really exist or not, this movie shows us that it would really be creepy if they do exist in this world. Think about women flying half of their bodies and unborn babies being eaten.

Phillipines
Host Country Report
INTRODUCTION: When traveling anywhere unfamiliar or out of the country it is very important to know the most abundant amount of details possible about the country you are sojourning to. I chose the Philippines as my country to sojourn to because of the knowledge my grandparents possess (being natives of the Philippines) and because it is a part of my familyâs culture that I have not yet experienced. I began to search and collect pictures, videos, blogs, and even music videos consisting of the islandâs appearance, diversity, and any culture shocks that may pertain to me whenever I get the chance to travel here. The Philippines makes for a very beautiful place to travel and vacation. It is off the cost of Asia and is surrounded by the Indian and Pacific Ocean. My collection contains many items such as pictures of the beaches and the
the variety of landscapes such as mountains, beaches, and amazing cities such as Manila. Itâs very easy to get lost in the amazing views and forget about the culture within the Philippines. Manila, which is the capital, is a very extravagant city as stated by my grandparents and is very beautiful to view at night. Though the country may contain much poor and homeless, it still possesses the sights and are that any individual would want to see in person. Â
LANGAUGE/RELIGION: The Philippines is closest culturally to Latin America and is even considered as being a south pacific country. Many view the Philippines as being directly related to Chinese/Japanese/Korean, but these countries/cultures do not have much of an impact on the Philippines. There are many similarities to countries such as Puerto Rico with how the standard of living is and the language. The Philippino natives use a language known as Tagalog. This is a unique and diverse language that has ties with Spanish. Though Tagalog is the main language of the Island, English is also dominant. This results from the many citizens that are planning or have already joined the Military such as my grandfather. Shockingly the Philippines is the only Christian nation in/ around Asia. More than 86% is Roman Catholic, 6% belong to nationalized Christian Cults, 2% Protestant denominations, 4% Muslim, and 2% following non-western beliefs/practices.    POLITICS/GOVERNMENT: The Political system of the Philippines is very similar the United States and involves a great amount of the Roman Catholic-Christian religion. There is a president which currently is Rodrigo Duterte. In this country, the President is the head of state and the head of government. Though this form of government exists, many provinces and regions of the Philippines lack and form of local government due to the abundance of poverty and poor living conditions surrounding the island. Articles on President Duterte and how he has killed off most of the drug cartel and violent hate- crimes has caused great controversy within the Philippines. This informed me as to how the government handles any crime. Though it may seem like a very great idea and logic, many disagree with his gruesome form of punishment involving killing any individual seen interacting or distributing of drugs. Most of these crimes happen within the three largest cities known as Quezon City, Makati, and Manila (which is the capital). Much of these crimes also occur because of the abundant amount of poor citizens. Much of the Philippines is rundown, leaving many homeless. Many areas do not even possess running water and the restrooms consist of holes in the ground and toilet paper is not provided. As described from Pinoymoneytalk.com (https://www.pinoymoneytalk.com/sec-abcde-percentage-population/), the high social class known as the A/B class only make up for 1% of the population while class C/D/E make up for the rest of the population.
GENDER ROLES: In the Philippines gender roles are very set in stone. They have changed from the traditional beliefs where men hold most power and work while the women stay home and garden and provide for the family within the house. Marriage has changed drastically but the belief is that both the male and female should at least be between the ages of 20-22 when marrying and couples who marry should have well-established jobs and can take care of their families/ education of siblings. Though this has changed, men still hold most power and freedom and there are still improvements in equality that have still not been put into effect.
MEDIA/FILM/NEWS/MUSIC: With all the culture and beliefs comes the differences that set the Philippines apart from other countries such as media, cuisine, and even demeanor. The Philippines is like any other country and has television and news. The main television stations are ABS-CBN-2, GMA 7, TV5, Studio23, etc. These range from soap operas and sitcoms to sports such as Studio23. This ties into the music industry that ranges from singers such as Claire Dela Fuente and rappers such as Callalily. These are among the top artist in the Philippines, but traditional Tagalog singing is what is mostly listened to by the older generations while the newer style rap is listened to by teens and young adults. For the film industry, the natives appreciate any form of cinema as an art. They believe it reflects their culture and the beliefs of any viewers. One of the most popular forms of film is horror. These are among some of the scariest movies around the world such as the Chinese horror films and are very breathtaking, keeping any viewers on the edge of their seat. Yanggaw is one of the scariest being about a folklore monster Aswang, which is a shape shifting vampire. When it comes to any news or top stories needing to be reported on any local/world news, stars, or even recently released movies, The Manila Times and The Phillipino Star are among the most popular and influential newspaper industries in the Philippines. http://www.manilatimes.net/news/

CUISINE: Food is a great part of the culture and even consist of roasting entire pigsâ at large gatherings. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lTbjML8CDkI. This derived from the diverse geography and consist of some of the most simple ways of cooking such as boiling, steaming, grilling, and stewing. They are heavily influenced from centuries of trading with Spain, China, France, and even the United States. This food documentary from BBC goes into great detail about the customs and traditions of the cuisine such as the roasting of a full-size pig as I stated before.
Another traditional dish known as âHalo-Haloâ is very known world-wide. This consist of multiple fruits, red beans and even chick peas and can be found here in the U.S. as well at many Philippino restaurants such as Jollibee. This video explains and shows a clip from Anthony Bourdainâs television show while he visits the Philippines https://youtu.be/lj6zyqFCc-8.
The average individual may consume up to 5 meals a day which may be smaller in portion. This begins with an early breakfast followed by a 10 am snack, Lunch, another snack, and dinner. They like to end the day with sweets such as Halo-Halo, fruit, or even caramel. With all this food consumption comes the way of purchasing. In the Philippines, they use the Peso. The value is different than that of the United States, but there is no difference in the style of purchase or how traditional their currency is.
GREETING/POSTURE: From being Philippino I know what they emphasize and take great respect towards when it comes to posture, dress, and greeting each other. Philippinoâs are known for their hospitality and caring for one another no matter the circumstances. This consist of very soft handshakes but once someone is known or comfortable it may change to kissing on the cheeks along with a pat on the back or shoulders. Family is everything and respect is nothing to mess with. It is very disrespectful to raise your voice or shout at anyone. When having a conversation, they often say âyesâ as opposed to ânoâ due to the emphasis on staying very humble and positive. âThank youâ is said as âSalamatâ and âpoâ is added after if speaking to an elderly or in a formal environment.
CONCLUSION: Overall, the Phillipines is a very beautiful country that you should try and travel to. The diverse geography and culture makes for a great experience that no one would want to miss out on. With this guide, there should be no problems (besides the bit of culture shock you may experience) when staying here. The cuisine is what most would enjoy but try to experience everything possible because you may never get the chance again.

Tales of quieter terror entice me better, for, the irony is: silence bears much greater audacity.âŠ
