Hi! 🪶 anon back at it again for my Kujou Sara BS~
Can I ask for Yandere!Kujou Sara and Raiden Shogun (Separate) (And yeah, the Shogun) HCs? When you said you did soft yandere, that's the type of yandere I like best anyway, so it works out! Thank you for reading!
-🪶
Read this prologue for context! Also sorry if I made the puppet too OOC, it's hard to write for her ;-;
Scenario: Soft Yandere
Characters: Kujou Sara, Raiden Shogun (Puppet)
Sara as a yandere would be complicated, but believable if you're a holy being. She already worships the shogun, so it would be no surprise if a mythical being of legends and tradition suddenly shows up in the flesh.
However, it would be complex thanks to her previous devotion to the shogun. Yes the two of you are allies and formed a pact of sorts, but would it still not count as a betrayal if she worshipped you as well as her archon? These thoughts trouble her often.
Of course, being a general, she knows better than to reside in inaction just because of confusion, and so she shows her loyalty while her heart remains unsure. Bringing you gifts, safety in travels, and simply being a reliable partner, she stays by your side.
The answer to her dilemma honestly depends on how you treat her, both before and after your reincarnation into the world, but no matter what her decision is, she'll remain your dutiful follower, and trusted cohort.
If you used her plenty in gameplay, and showed her attention above others in the world, she'll succumb to her own desires, but it'll be hard and awkward. Get ready for some stiff hugs, and a lot of blushing, she's trying her best.
Give her time though, and her showings of affection will get bolder and bolder. Offering you dates, gifts, and everything in between, she's ready to show how much she loves you, even if it might not be enough to truly show her devotion.
If you don't show her that much attention however, surprisingly, she's one of the few people that manages to suppress her intense desires, and instead inserts you into her life in a more subtle way, treating you highly, yet distantly.
It may lead to her being a little more workaholic and devoted to the shogun for a while, but she does eventually get over it, even if her desires are still within her. Her will is strong, and her mentality is even stronger!
"Please, do not apologize for gracing me with you presence, creator. Even if you're correct, with it taking away time from my duties, your comments about taking needed breaks are also important, and I see every moment speaking with you as an opportunity to relax. So please, don't be afraid to visit more."
This would definitely be an obsession that doesn't spark in an instant, but builds up over the years that she spends as a ruler. When she was created, Ei made sure to include you in her mentality, to make sure she didn't treat the myths and folklore of you as nothing.
That's why, knowing about your legends, yet only that and not much more was a slow burn of desire to meet you, and obey you directly, much like Ei silently prayed and hoped that you could perhaps bless her region.
Her priorities were still quite screwed when it came to governing over the lands, but much like she made sure to mantain festivities alive, she made sure that the belief in your legends and stories was still alive, even if may be against her complete rule.
When she felt the signs of your coming through the traveler and the other Inazuman folk that were growing stronger, and seemingly ignoring her complete rule, she knew it must have been a sign from you. In fact, she was probably knew about your presence before Ei.
That's why, when it normally should've been time for her end, she showed a strange sense of regret, as she came to realize just how against you she was in the end, and that was enough to convince the others to keep her alive, especially if you spare her through your screen.
I won't divulge into what her role would be now, but she'd have a strange sense of regret and shame lingering in her soul, even though she believed to have listened to her commands to perfection. Did she do something wrong to have both Ei and you against her?
Even if you show up in her world eventually, I could see her being troubled with her actions and your reception to them. Would you accept her? Would you even like her after what she's done? Did she deserve be grazed with your presence at all?
That's why she'll remain hidden from sight, away from the judging stare that you may use towards her. Ei is much more deserving of your attention, and she understands that. It may be up to you to face her yourself...

finding their soulmate: genshin edition.
a/n: i haven't made a post here in a hot second and i honestly apologize about that lol. the motivation to write just hasn't been there but!! here's a small lil genshin post for now. i just spun a wheel to pick who i write but if u want me to write for some of the others then just lmk!!
includes: xiao, kaeya, kujou sara, albedo, tartaglia, and ayato.
warnings: mdni, yandere content, not edited, gn reader, kidnapping, forced relationships, arranged marriage, manipulation, reader injury in both kujou sara's, albedo's and tartaglia's parts, childe stabs you :peace sign:, canon is a very vague concept in my writing more often than not btw, this is kinda cringey </3, the yandere content in albedo's part is actually very mild bc i was restraining myself bc there was a lot i wanted to do w it.
XIAO — never really cared much about finding his soulmate. His entire existence was dedicated to protecting Liyue, even if the nation no longer needed his protection. Besides, with how long he's been around, he just assumed his soulmate was long dead and that he'd never meet them. Though, a small part of him wondered... what was his soulmate like?
And, almost as if the universe had been listening, he ends up meeting you. His soulmate. It wasn't a classic, romantic meeting. He didn't save your life or anything like that. You were just a traveler who decided to stay at the inn.
He didn't think much of you until his eyes met yours and suddenly color was flooding into his world. It made him dizzy, and it stunned him into absolute silence because all he could so was stare at you with wide eyes.
You were clearly going through it as well, because obviously. You just met your fucking soulmate on a damn business trip. What the hell were you supposed to do now? It would be awkward to just... ignore what had happened, right? I mean, he's staring right at you and this was all just very overwhelming.
It was an awkward first meeting, that's for sure.
But during your time at the inn, whenever you were free from work, you spent it with Xiao. He was closed off, clearly keeping his guard up and not letting you get too close. You didn't know the reasons, but you didn't expect him to tell you his entire life story just because you two were apparently bound by the universe.
Honestly, you just assumed he didn't want to be with his soulmate. This didn't upset you. It wouldn't work out, anyway. You're only staying for a few weeks before heading home.
But archons, did Xiao want you. Behind his typical, distant behavior, Xiao was taking note of everything about you. Your interests, your habits, your sleep schedule, your favorite foods and desserts... everything you told him or subconsciously revealed, Xiao was tucking it away in his mind.
He wanted you. He wanted you to stay here, in Liyue, with him. Where you belong. But he didn't know how to express that. He's never been in love before, and it's not like he'll just suddenly become an expert at romance after meeting you.
When it was time for you to leave, he was crushed. He needed you to stay. He needed you by his side. Letters wouldn't be enough to fill the emptiness in your wake if you left. You had to stay.
You will stay.
And when you wake up to find yourself no longer in the inn, and instead in some small home deep within the mountains of Liyue, you're distraught.
Xiao looks genuinely guilty, robbing you of your freedom but... you understand, don't you? You have to understand. He just couldn't let you go. You're his soulmate, you were destined to be with him! You'll love it here, he'll make sure of it.
Just stay.
KAEYA — had always wondered what his soulmate was like ever since he was a child. He would spend hours just staring at the small crescent moon forever stained on his wrist, wondering if and when he'll meet the person with a matching mark.
Of course, as he got older he spent less time thinking about such things, though he did always hold out hope that he might be able to one day meet his soulmate. Little did he know, he's met his soulmate already. Multiple times.
You took over Sara's shifts at the Good Hunter whenever she had other things she needed to focus on, so Kaeya has spoken with you on numerous occasions, he's just never realized you were his soulmate because you keep your wrists covered. He's not one to judge, his wrists aren't visible either.
Him finding out was an accident. You had been handing him his order when your sleeves rolled up a bit, and his gaze just so happened to look at your wrists and he saw the very same crescent moon that was on his.
And for a moment, he froze. He just stared. Long enough that you were starting to feel a little uncomfortable. But before you could awkwardly send him on his way, he was showing you the crescent moon on his wrist as well and thus began your love story.
Or... well... it's what Kaeya had hoped for, but you didn't seem interested in soulmates at all. You didn't want the universe to decide who you were meant to be with, you wanted to make that decision yourself, so you had, to put it simply, bluntly rejected him.
And he gets it! It hurts, sure. He spent his entire life dreaming of this day, and it's not turning out the way he had hoped, but... you guys can be friends, at least, right? No strings attached?
For a while, Kaeya was fine with that. You and he had a really strong friendship. He cared about you, and you cared about him. Though your feelings were platonic, he was holding on to the hope that maybe one day, you'll realize you two were meant to be together.
But it was starting to seem as though that day might never come, because almost a year into your friendship with him, you had told Kaeya that you were thinking about entering the dating scene. He was... not too pleased about that, honestly. It was pretty obvious too, the way his entire mood soured the moment you brought the topic up.
He didn't stand by idly while this happened. Any person he saw you chatting up with romantic intentions would suddenly avoid you like the plague the next time you saw them. Any blind dates would end with you being ghosted. Hell, even some of your friends, the ones who were helping you get dates, were starting to avoid you too. It was so confusing.
But not Kaeya. No, Kaeya was always by your side.
Whenever you needed him, he was there. He always seemed to be able to make time for you. He listened to you vent your frustrations out, never once judging you or telling you that you were being dramatic. He was the only constant in your life these days.
Of course, you were completely oblivious to the fact that he was the cause of all of this. It's not that hard to blackmail people, he's learned. But they didn't deserve you anyway, seeing how easily they gave up on you the moment he approached them.
Maybe... maybe dating Kaeya wouldn't be so bad... I mean, you're the one deciding this, right? The universe isn't having any play in it. This is your decision. Isn't it?
KUJOU SARA — never cared about her soulmate. She knew she had one, you were in every dream she had. She found it to be more of a nuisance than anything else.
Her entire life was dedicated to her training, and to the Raiden Shogun. She neither had the time, nor the interest in searching for her soulmate. Besides, it didn't seem as if you resided in Inazuma. Your clothing was similar what people in Fontaine wear, and Fontaine was far away from Inazuma.
She was confident that she wouldn't be meeting you any time soon, so she never gave you any thought when she was awake. She never made any plans on what she would do if she did, by any chance, meet you. It didn't matter.
And she can't help but regret that, now that you're standing in front of her. If she had known that meeting her soulmate would make her feel like this, as if everything in the world suddenly made sense, then... well... she doesn't know what she would've done, to be honest.
No matter, Sara had no time to entertain you. Your stay in Inazuma was only temporary, so she saw no point in trying to form a bond with you. You, however, seemed to have different plans. She was used to seeing you in her dreams every night, but she was not used to seeing you in her waking moments.
Whenever she wasn't preoccupied with something, you were there to offer her company. It was annoying, and she's sent you away more than once, but that didn't seem to deter you. If anything, you seemed to become more determined each time she brushed you off.
At some point, she had given up on avoiding you. It was easier to just let you stick around. And, the more time she spent with you, the more attached she was becoming. It wasn't smart, she knew that, but could you blame her? You're so... irrevocably you.
Her fondness for you didn't go unnoticed.
Many people in Inazuma treated you with the same respect they treated Sara. You were her soulmate, after all. Should someone insult you, they would in turn be insulting her. Nobody wanted to get on her bad side.
There were, however, a few bad apples.
It should come as no surprise that a target was placed on your back the moment people took notice of Sara's attachment to you. She didn't think she'd have to worry much, because no one would be idiotic enough to actually try and harm you under her watch, but she should've known better.
It happened a few days before you were set to leave Inazuma to return home. A disturbance was going on within the city so Sara wasn't with you when you went on your daily walk just outside of it. It was supposed to be safe, but it wasn't.
Some vagrants had got the jump on you, and you nearly lost your life. You were lucky enough to have been found by some bystanders, but Sara was less than pleased when she heard about this. She had never taken pleasure in killing anyone before, but there was a deep-rooted sense of satisfaction deep within her chest when she watched the lives of those who hurt you fade away.
And as she sat by your side, waiting for you to wake up, she came to a decision. You can't be alone. If you are, you'll get hurt, and she won't be able to protect you. She can't let you leave Inazuma. She knows you'll more than likely hate her for making this decision for you, but if it means she can keep you safe, keep you alive and by her side, then... that hatred is something she'll be willing to bear.
ALBEDO — doesn't have a soulmate. At least, he's not supposed to. He's an artificial being, so it wouldn't make sense for him to have a soulmate. Of course, he does find the concept of soulmates to be intriguing. Who, or what, decides who people are destined to be with? It's a question he hopes to find an answer to.
So he wasn't surprised when he found you passed out in the snow, deep within Dragonspine. He's seen this countless times before, travelers who don't take precautions before trying to brave the deadly cold that comes with being here. He assumed he would just nurse you back to health and you would go on your merry way.
That changed, however, when he was cleaning your wounds and he saw his name inked on your skin, right on your collarbone. In his handwriting, at that. It confused him, because... that would mean that he's your soulmate. But he can't be. And yet, it didn't come off when he tried wiping it off. It was a part of your skin.
This left him with many questions, though none of them got answered when you woke up. You couldn't remember much about yourself, other than your name and a few other details. You didn't even know why you were in Dragonspine, or where you were from. You did hit your head pretty badly, judging from the headwound, so that would explain the amnesia, though he's not sure if it was going to be something temporary or not.
You both decided it would be best to just have you stay here until you were able to recover some of your memories and although Albedo wasn't eager to make friends with you, he was grateful for the company. He was incredibly patient with you too, answering any questions you may have had ranging from a multitude of different topics.
And in return, you helped out as much as you could without overexerting yourself and making your injuries worse. You'd make sure to keep his little lab tidy when he was away. You'd help out with some of his experiments too, if he knew you wouldn't get hurt doing so.
All while trying to figure out how he could possibly be your soulmate. He checked over himself. Four times. Your name was nowhere on his body. So why? Why was his name on yours? As much as he hates to admit it, he thinks he may never get an answer to this mystery.
Though... that's not such a bad thing, he thinks. He finds himself enjoying your company more and more with each passing day, the whole soulmate thing rarely even crossed his mind. At least, until you had asked him why his name was permanently etched into your skin. It was fairly easy to explain everything to you, though he was unable to answer a few of your questions, sadly. Soulmates were still a mystery, after all.
And when you asked if you could write your name on him so you two could match, he found himself unable to say no. He found himself unable to speak at all, actually, as you wrote your name on his shoulder. You even added a little heart next to it.
But no, Albedo was too busy coming to terms with the feelings he has for you. They weren't new. He's been aware of them for a week or so now, he just never gave it much thought until now. Now, with you so close to him, it was simply impossible to ignore.
And once you pull away, you smile at him and say, "There! Now I'm your soulmate too, right?" And oh.
Oh.
There was no way Albedo was going to let you leave Dragonspine now.
TARTAGLIA — feels a little bad for his soulmate, whoever they are. They can feel his pain, and he can feel theirs. So... they probably hate his guts, considering he's not the most careful person in the world. He pushes himself to his limits and beyond, and his soulmate has no doubt felt every single second of it.
Don't get him wrong, he would love to meet his soulmate. It's been a dream of his since he was a child, always eager to hear the story of how his mom and dad found out they were soulmates. Even as he grew older, the desire never went away. It was just... buried.
And his soulmate just so happened to be you, the significant other of a man who owed the Northland Bank a lot of money. He doesn't normally partake in debt collections, but he didn't have anything better to do so he decided to take this one on. He was going to use you as an example to your husband, though the moment his blade stabbed you, he froze.
He felt the pain. He stabbed you, and he could feel it. Oh fuck, he just stabbed his soulmate. That's definitely not the picturesque first meeting he was hoping for. Probably wouldn't be a good idea to tell his family this either...
Stabbing aside, he was utterly delighted. You, on the other hand, were terrified. Not only did this man just fucking stab you, his expression went from bored to something akin to crazed glee. He stared at you with a hunger that made you want to shy away from his gaze.
He doesn't care that you're already in a relationship with someone else. Not anymore, you're not. You're his, destined by the stars or however the story goes. And if your lover tries to get you back, he'll just kill them. Easy as that. Absolutely nothing will get in the way of him having you.
And he likes that you fight back against him. He especially loves it when you manage to escape. Hell, sometimes he'll even let you go just so he can chase you down again. It sends a thrill through him like no other when he catches you, and you stare at him teary-eyed and out of breath.
You're always so scared that he'll hurt you, but he would never do such a thing. He treats you like you're royalty, spoiling you with a seemingly endless amount of gifts. You're not quite sure how he knows what you like, and you're too hesitant to ask.
Honestly... he'd probably let you stab him. Y'know, he stabbed you, so it's only fair that you get to stab him in turn, right?
You think not. You're very hesitant, staring at him as though he were insane for even proposing such an idea. A part of him was disappointed. He wanted one of the many scars on his body to be from you. But a much larger part can't help but go soft at the sight of you shaking your head, sternly refusing to hurt him.
If he wasn't obsessed with you before, he certainly was now. You're too good. Too kind. He's holding you captive (lovingly, of course) and you refuse to hurt him? You don't even want to pinch him? How adorable.
Why, if he didn't know any better, he'd think that you might care about him.
He was nothing if not stubborn, of course. You might not care about him now, but you will in the future. He'll make sure of it.
After all, he's spent his whole life waiting for you.
AYATO — never had the time to think of his soulmate. He was blessed (or cursed, depending on who you ask) with the ability to see the red strings that tied people together. When he was younger, before having to take on the duties of the Kamisato name, he would always stare at the one tied to his pinkie.
He even has the habit of twirling the red string around his finger whenever he gets stressed. Only behind closed doors, of course. It would probably appear strange to others if they saw.
Meeting his soulmate was something he had always planned out in his head as a child, and when he finally did meet you, it was so... simple. There was nothing magical about it, you had just bumped into him one day when he was out in the city and that's what started all of this.
For you, it was a forgettable encounter, one that would never cross your mind again. For him, it was everything he had been waiting for. Thoma thought it was a bit strange, but he dutifully gathered information about you when Ayato asked it of him. He needed to know everything there was to know about you.
He already knew what he was going to do when he met his soulmate, the only thing left was to actually do it. And you were definitely shocked when Kamisato Ayato himself showed up at your home and asked you to marry him.
You said no, obviously, because why the hell would you agree to marry someone you didn't know? Ayato had planned for this, of course. That's why he had Thoma learn everything about you, so the moment you declined his offer, he just smiled and made a comment about your family. It was very obvious what he was implying.
And even if you aren't close with your family, you can't live with blood on your hands. You were pretty much forced into accepting Ayato's marriage proposal. He was pleased with this outcome, promising to take care of everything himself.
Marrying him meant that you would, unfortunately, have to leave your home and instead live at the Kamisato Estate. Everyone was under the impression that this marriage was one of love and not coercion. You highly doubt that anyone would believe you if you told them the truth, and you were too concerned about what the consequences would be if you did.
Everyone at the estate was nice to you, at least, though the only people allowed to actually get close to you were Ayaka and Thoma.
And when the wedding was over, it was time for your honeymoon. You were not excited about that, but it seemed Celestia itself was on your side during that time because he was too busy to spend time with you.
If he wasn't threatening the lives of your family, you would have made numerous escape attempts by now. Still, you've made it very clear that you hate his guts.
Your hatred is something he detests, though he can't fault you for it. He understands that what he's forced you into is wrong, but in his mind, it was something that had to be done. He's sure that given enough time and space, you'll grow to understand why he did what he did.
And even though you scorn his existence, Ayato looks at you as if you've placed the stars in the sky.
Your strings are forever tied together, so there's no getting out of this. He doesn't plan on ever letting you go. He'd be a terrible husband if he didn't keep you close, wouldn't he?

sara has been poisoned.
you know this because she has been sick longer than any fever lasts for, but more so because you’ve spent nearly the entire past decade of your life studying poisons in sumeru. the anatomy of a poisoning is an old friend of yours; the poison, the poisoned organism, the injury to the cells, and the symptoms and signs—which is usually succeeded by death, although you are not so unskilled to undo the effects of a simple almond-based poison. no, the poison itself is not your concern, hastily and poorly concocted as it is.
no, your concern is the bastard who would dare do such a thing to your wife.
sara shivers as you pat a damp cloth to her forehead. her face is flushed with fever, sweat beading on her neck. her fingers grip and relax the bedding of her futon, eyes squeezed shut as the poison rips through her. you’ve already administered the antidote, but the aftereffects are still something sara must weather alone. it makes your heart ache. you are used to seeing your wife as a pillar of strength, so to see her reduced to quivering frailness brings out a grief in your heart you only experienced once, as your mother lay dying. you lean down and press a kiss to her forehead, squeezing her hand. sara groans, but some of the tension in her expression melts at the gesture.
just then, the door slides open with a soft sound. by the cadence of the footsteps—even, controlled, but with the weight of the house’s master—you know it is your brother, ayato. you do not look at him when you speak, your voice deceptively soft.
“have you discovered the culprit, brother?”
ayato hums behind you. “i have. one kujou kurose, a minor officer from one of the kujou branch families.”
“a fellow member of the kujou?”
“yes. though, he has made his disapproval of takayuki’s adoption of sara clear from the beginning. now that takayuki is out of the picture, i suspect he felt bold enough to make his move and get rid of her as well.”
you snort derisively as you brush some damp hair out of sara’s face. “he would commit treason out of jealousy?”
“the human heart is fickle,” ayato says evenly. “so, what is it you plan to do, sister?”
you tuck the sheets a little tighter around sara, then rise to your feet. you turn, and offer ayato a carefully measured smile—the smile your father taught both you and ayato to wear; the one that brings with it unrest. ayato recognises it innately, and a spark of amusement lights up his usually placid eyes.
“why, invite them to tea, of course.”
-
kujou kurose is a poor actor.
you learn this as you sit across from him at tea, listening to him ramble and rave about just how terrible it is for general kujou to have fallen ill. your hands squeeze your teacup tight enough that the glass might have cracked in your grip. instead, you grit your teeth and patiently endure his incessant blabbering, before insisting he have some tea.
“sakura blend,” you elaborate. “the petals came from the sacred sakura. it is intended to promote good health.”
kujou kurose idly strokes his beard and chuckles. “is that so? then let us drink to general kujou’s continued good health. please, pour some for me.”
you smile—polite as ever—and lean forward to lift the teapot. the collar of your kimono shifts with the action, and you can feel kurose’s eyes linger on the brief flash of your exposed collarbones. a stab of annoyance flickers through you, but you tamp it down. you pour his tea, then return to your seated position. kurose, to his credit, is not so barbaric to forget the etiquette of tea. he sips his tea from his cup slowly, expression smoothing out as the warm, sweet liquid tips down his throat. your smile does not leave your face. when he sets his cup back down, his expression is utterly calm, relaxed.
fool.
your own tea is untouched. you watch him carefully as you speak. “is the tea to your liking, my lord?”
kurose gives you a look. opens his mouth and tries to speak.
he fails.
you cannot stop the sheer delight on your face as you watch the man realise he cannot move at all. his eyes, once arrogant and deceptive, are now filled solely with fear. rage flickers across his expression briefly, but the fear resurges without mercy as he experiences what it is like to have no control over your body. as he remains stone-still in paralyzed fear, you raise your own cup to your lips and take a sip. the tea is warm and sweet—but to your seasoned palette of poisons, the subtle bitter hints of paralytic are obvious.
not that it bothers you. you’ve been ingesting your own poisons (in controlled doses, of course) since your first year at the akademiya to get a leg up on your coursemates in describing and documenting the effects of assorted poisons. suffice to say, you’ve developed a reasonable amount of tolerance to poisons, especially the ones you crafted yourself.
others, like kurose? not so much.
when you set your teacup down, there is nothing in his expression but despair. that dark, vindictive part of you howls with glee at the sight, and you give him your first true smile of the afternoon. when you speak, your voice is low, like a serpent slithering through tall grass.
“did you think i would not know, kurose?” you use his first name casually, as befitting your status both as a kamisato, and the general’s wife. “the walls have ears, kurose, and you have been so very loud.”
his throat bobs. you had given him just enough of a dosage to paralyze most of his muscles, but not enough to freeze the ones in his lungs or heart. at least, not yet.
“i know you poisoned my wife,” you continue, your tone hardly betraying anything. the conversation flows as if you were merely speaking of ther weather. “and i know it is because you are too much of a bitch to face her in honorable combat.”
if kurose could move, he would have flinched. but he can’t, so the best he can manage is a frenzied look of pure panic in his eyes.
“so you resorted to these… pathetic, underhanded methods you know sara would never dream of partaking in. and you thought, like this, you might win. and even if she didn’t die, you could not be implicated because of a lack of evidence, and that sara’s own respect for the law would let you walk free. but i’m afraid your cowardice is only matched by your stupidity,” you spit, unable to contain your vitriol any longer. “because if you think i subscribe to such restrictions, you are sorely mistaken.”
you have been away from inazuma for years, studying in the land of wisdom. and many have forgotten just who you are, but you are a kamisato. they call your sister a heron, sweet and beautiful. they call your brother a fox, cunning and charming. but you? you are nothing so warm-blooded. you are a snake in the grass, coiled in on yourself, fangs filled with venom. and archons help whoever is foolish enough to tread too close to your nest.
“make an attempt on my wife’s life again, kurose, and i will watch the light leave your eyes myself.”
and with that, you stand, forgoing a bow, and leave the trembling man in your living room with a swish of your silk kimono.
-
sara blinks as she looks down at one of her documents. she’s since recovered from her illness, and has resumed her duties as general. currently, she’s going over her backlog of paperwork that accumulated while she was unwell. and one of them is particularly odd—kujou kurose’s resignation letter.
“strange,” she mutters, and you look up from your embroidery to glance at her. you tilt your head in question.
“what is, dearest?”
“uncle kurose resigned,” she says, scanning over the document again. “he said he feels ‘too old’ to keep attending to his role within the clan. he’ll be… taking an extended trip to liyue to recuperate, apparently.”
you only hum at that. “mm, it is not too surprising. he is quite old, no?”
“well…” sara sighs. “he is old, yes, but he is also… tenacious. i didn’t think he’d resign unless he died. so it’s just weird, i suppose.”
you set your embroidery down with a smile, rising to your feet to pad softly over to her side. your brush her bangs away from her forehead and press a soft kiss to her temple. sara makes a tiny, surprised noise, a delicate flush settling on her cheeks as your hand rises to cup her jaw.
“you’re so caring, my dear,” you chuckle. “i’m sure he’s quite fine. it isn’t like he was threatened or anything—he’s still a kujou, after all. who would dare?”
sara sighs again, and leans into your touch. “you’re right.”
“i always am,” you quip, and sara rolls her eyes affectionately. she turns her head and presses a quick kiss to your palm.
“i love you,” she whispers, and your eyes soften. you lower your head to catch her lips in a soft kiss. she tastes like peppermint tea and sugar, the blend you made specifically for her. you breathe your reply against her lips.
“i love you too, my dear.”

Oracle!Reader Part 2
Masterlist - Part 1, Part 3
The waves hit the boat gently as you wait for the sound of people to get quieter. Once the cawing of birds is the most prominent sound, you jump out of the boat onto the shore. You walk up Amakane Island and keep your head low as you pass by stalls and people.
You get to mask stall which is thankfully empty at the moment. A jagged fox mask with the lower half missing and gold accents catches your eye. You put it on right as the vendor comes back to the stall.
You smile excitedly at the two men feeling more confident with your identity hidden. The mask showing the bottom half of your face is a necessary sacrifice. Body language is a double-edged sword for lying that you've learned to wield expertly.
"Hello, are you the vendor for these masks? I really like this gold one, I couldn't resist trying it on. How much is it?"
The vendor sees the mask you're wearing and laughs nervously.
"Hello dear customer but I'm afraid it broke when two other customers were fighting over it. You could come back tomorrow, and I could give you a mask with that same color or you could pick a different mask now."
You skirt around the offer and distract him with more questions. It's not like you have any mora to pay with. Your tone is sympathetic and sweet.
"I'm sorry to hear that happened. If you don't mind, I would like to know why they were fighting over it."
"Well as everyone knows, gold is heavily associated with the creator and that happened to be the last mask. The Yashiro guard that usually stands guard is escorting them to the prison."
"Oh, I see. Actually, do you mind answering some of my questions? You see I'm a traveler and I like to listen to stories about the creator. Each region has their own variations about the creator so I'm curious about Inazuma's!"
Your smile is bright, and the man seems to perk up at your words. He begins explaining about acolytes, praying times, the creator's image and even more.
Simply put the playable characters are acolytes and it's a high honor if they have been awakened. Which is a fancy word for saying that you pulled and won them.
No one knows the creators real name meaning you can still live on as Y/N. They believe that after creating the world you were now resting inside a different world. That now that you were awakening acolytes, you would be arriving soon.
It's when he mentions sacrificing that you feel dread pool inside you. This is a cult; you have a fucking cult. Ironic how Ei almost sacrificed you to yourself.
After getting all the information you needed from the man, you walk away. Still wearing the mask without paying for it. The vendor will probably realize in a little while, but you would be long gone by then.
You look back at your boat wondering how you could get rid of it. Ei saw it meaning that she'll be able to recognize it as long as you have it nearby.
You look at Byakko Plain where a teleport waypoint should be. If you could get to it, activate it then your plan of discarding the boat should work.
As you walk across the sand and soft waves from Amakane to Byakko you see 3 treasure hoarders and a nobushi. Right in the middle and right in your way.
Could you outrun them? Probably not. Fight them and win? Maybe the treasure hoarders but that nobushi is dangerous. Your only choice is to retreat and have one of your acolytes defeat them. It felt weird referring them like that but this whole thing is bizarre.
Just as you turn around, you hear them yell. The nobushi pulls out his sword, a treasure hoarder takes out throwing knives, another a crossbow, and the third uses a paddle.
You have no choice but to fight. Gritting your teeth, you skid across the sand to avoid getting hit by the knives and arrows. The nobushi sprints and slashes his sword to hit you at the same time the paddle treasure hoarder rushes after you.
You jump away just in time to see them hit each other instead of you. The sword stabs the paddle guy right in the stomach and the two other treasure hoarders freeze at the sight. The nobushi pulls the sword out unfazed.
The two treasure hoarders watch in horror as paddle guy coughs up blood and falls to the ground.
"What the hell man?! Why would you stab him like that?!" The treasure hoarders start yelling and aiming at the nobushi. The nobushi glares at them and starts walking toward them. The blood on his blade glints in the sunlight and you try not to think about the blood that is splattered on your shirt.
Using the argument between the nobushi and treasure hoarders, you pick up the paddle. The nobushi will probably kill both treasure hoarders and attack you again.
It's better to take out the nobushi and fight the treasure hoarders then run away. As you sneak up behind the nobushi, the treasure hoarders see you and stay silent.
The nobushi prepares to swing and cut down the treasure hoarders. It exposes the back of his neck, and you swing the paddle hard. Your hit lands and the paddle breaks from the force.
The nobushi falls to the ground leaving you exposed as you pant from the strength needed for the blow to be effective. The treasure hoarders stare at you in some shock as they tremble from their life so close to being over.
"So, uh truce?" You offer as you stand up straight. They look at their weapons and look back at you. Their hesitance unnerves you and you drop the broken paddle remains. They get a dangerous glint in their eyes now that you're unarmed.
You smile and pick up the nobushi's sword in a flash. Pointing it at them, you spoke with a drawl.
"Which do you think is faster? Your shitty aiming knives and arrows? Or this sword that's almost as tall as you?"
You touched the teleport waypoint as you watched the treasure hoarders run away. That sword was heavy as hell and only the adrenaline coursing through you in that moment gave you the strength to lift it so easily.
You held a small bag of mora, an old handguard, and 3 treasure hoarder insignia. You opened the bag that you got from the house you woke up in. You put it all in and close the bag. You didn't expect that enemy drops would still exist. The blood on the materials stained your hand and left you a chill.
Watching the teleport become gold you open the screen and open the map. You click on the first teleport waypoint you opened on Kannazuka. The same one where Ei found you.
There were two options, both had the words 'teleport waypoint' but one was gold. You pressed the gold option, and your vision went white.
Pressing your hands to your eyes, you open them slowly. It actually worked. You teleported to Kannazuka island. In a daze you walk to the waverider and summon the boat. You open the screen and teleport back to Byakko Plain.
Your eyes close automatically as you teleport. When you open them again at Byakko Plain, you look to see the boat gone. Pushing down the relief at it working, you try to remember what you needed to do next.
The cold wet feeling of blood on your clothes was creeping you out. Plus your clothes were so unique that Ei could definitly recognize you from it.
You pace the path as you think. The small amount of mora you put in your bag was all you had. But how much could a shirt, pants, and shoes cost? A potato was like 100 mora so the price should be around 4,500 mora. And even that's the least amount it can cost.
You open your bag to check the mora and instead of seeing inside the bag, a screen is there. It's the same screen you see when you open your bag in Genshin.
Well at least you won't have to worry about weight or food expiring. But unlike the bag you have in Genshin, this one is nearly completely empty. So, it's not connected to the bag you have in your account.
You look to the bottom and see 108 mora. You select the insignia and handguard. You try to trash them to see if you can get any mora from that. The game warns you nothing can be recovered, and you cancel the trashing.
Maybe you should just steal? It's your only option at this point. No one would be willing to accept help from a bloody masked stranger, nor will they accept 108 mora as a down payment. You really wanted to avoid stealing more than this mask. Clothes take a long time to make considering how the technology here isn't as advanced.
You trip over something small and pointy almost falling face first into the ground. You catch yourself and look to see that it's.
"Ushi?"
The cow moos at you and before mooing at a group of people running towards you.
"BEEFCAKE!"
Itto runs and picks Ushi up in a twirl nearly smacking you in the process. Kuki and his boys catch up as they breathe heavily. The only thing you can think as you watch Itto baby Ushi is.
'Dear god the game did not do him justice.'
Itto is huge, as tall as the nobushi you fought, and his muscles are nowhere near as flat as his game model.
"Boss, be more careful! You nearly hit them when you threw Ushi!"
Kuki scolds Itto as she points at you. Itto stops and looks at you in surprise seeming to finally notice your existence. Putting Ushi down Itto ruffles your hair and laughs.
"You mean this kid? C'mon if Ushi didn't nearly hit them, something else would."
"Sorry about him, he'll call anyone shorter than him 'kid'."
"It's fine, the bull, uh Ushi, you called him? Didn't hit me."
"Either way sorry about that compadre, but it's a good thing it didn't hit you. As an acolyte if he did hit you, you would probably be six feet under."
As gruesome as Itto's words sound, his actions are the opposite. He has an arm slung around your shoulders and a bright smile. Kuki who is usually more composed seems to be smiling judging by the crinkle at the edge of her eyes.
"Wow, you're an acolyte? Makes sense, a lot of vision users are. My name is Y/N, what are yours?"
Itto perks up at that and releases you. He stands in front of his gang facing you. The sun makes his red horns glint as he spreads his arms animatedly.
"I'm Arataki 'The One and Oni' Itto! I have many names but for time's sake I'll skip them this time to introduce you to the Arataki Gang."
He points to each of his members as he introduces them. "This is Shinobu Kuki, my deputy. She has a permit for everything - literally everything and is also an acolyte. Ushi is the auxiliary member; I call him Beefcake. Akira, Genta, and Mamoru are my boys and have been some of the longest standing members of the gang."
"You mean the only other gang members."
Shinobu corrects him. Spinning around to face her Itto shushes her a comically number of times. Not very quietly he whispers to her.
"Hey, hey don't ruin it for me. A new person is the best to get to join the gang."
Those words make you perk up as you watch Itto continue whisper-yelling at Shinobu. Honestly you wouldn't mind living as a member of the Arataki gang. It's not a criminal gang like the one you were in, in your old world. In fact, it would be even more fun than a normal job.
But there's no way you were staying in Inazuma with Ei hunting you down. You need to steer the conversation away from this into something more productive.
"Sorry if this is rude to say but are your horns real? This is my first time in Inazuma, so I've never seen anything like it before."
Itto abandons Shinobu's side to stand in front of you and comb his hair back with a proud grin.
"Indeed, they are real. Guess you didn't realize my clever wording in my title as the 'One and Oni' Itto. I'm a red oni and the best one there is!"
"That's why you have those red markings right? Plus, your clothing and accessories have all those horns too. So cool!"
Your voice heightens in a way that is similar to a fan. His reaction is just what you wanted. With a smile he juts out his thumb at himself as Shinobu shakes her head.
"Glad to see you recognize my awesomeness! Go ahead and praise me some more!"
"Don't encourage him anymore or else we'll be here for hours."
"Relax Shinobu, an amazing oni like me wouldn't let them stay out here for so long. C'mon Y/N we'll lead you to the city!"
Rubbing the back of your neck, you look down as you sheepishly admit.
"I don't think I can go in with clothes like these. Some treasure hoarders and a nobushi attacked me on my way to the city. So now my clothes are all cut up and dirty."
"What?! That's horrible, I swear if I see them, I'll-"
"Calm down boss, let's get them a change of clothes and then you can go after them."
Shinobu also seems a bit pissed at your story, interesting.
"We should have a spare uniform with the other materials, right? We can get the clothes along with the materials."
"But what if they got hurt? We can't have them walking like this! Akira, Genta, Mamoru! I'm gonna need you three to get the supplies and the old uniform. Shinobu and I will keep our new friend Y/N company in case anyone else tries attacking them."
You inwardly sigh in relief at not having to walk. Your heels still hurt from the electricity.
The boys hesitate as they give you a glance. Unlike Shinobu and Itto who seem to have an instant liking to you, the boys are unsure. Shinobu tries to explain to them.
"I know boss gets scammed nearly every time something like this happens, but I have a good feeling about Y/N. It's like I've meet them before, almost like an old friend."
The boys nod and leave feeling more assured with Shinobu on your side. Itto pats her back with a grin.
"You explained it almost as well as I would have."
"But maybe you should have gone with them. It'll be difficult to carry all those materials by themselves."
"Ah, have more faith Shinobu. They'll be fine. The shrine will look great."
This talk of materials and a shrine give you an inkling of what they're doing but you question them to be sure.
"By shrine, do you mean you're making a shrine for the creator?"
"That's right! It's almost the anniversary of the creator awakening the traveler, so we wanted to do something special. But it'll take some time for the boys to get back with the stuff. Why don't we have some fun in the meantime?"
That smile on Itto's face turns competitive as he stares down at you. It's infectious and before you know it, you have the same grin.
"What game are you suggesting? It would be fun to try an Inazuma game. You'll probably need the extra help of it being familiar too."
"Oh hoho! Shorty's got jokes! I'll take you on in any game. But since you want something Inazuma style then beetle fighting is the obviously best choice!"
Shinobu sighs affectionately as she watches Itto explain how beetle fighting works to you. She can't help but feel drawn to you and Itto feels the same way.
You find a huge purple reddish beetle and carefully carry it to the stage Itto set up.
"That's a good one Y/n, seems like the beetle likes you."
Shinobu comments as you bring it into view. The beetle moves in your hands as docile as a lamb and you pet the hard shell.
"That's great to know. Hope you won't be too mad when I beat Itto's ass."
"As if, just be prepared for him to challenge you to a 100 more matches."
"He wouldn't actually do that right?"
Shinobu adjusts her mask as she stays silent.
"Right???"
She only laughs as Itto bounds up to you both holding a good-sized purple beetle.
"I can tell this little guy has a beetle fighting spirit like no other! Be prepared to lose Y/N!"
With both beetles on the stage, the fight begins. Or that's what you would think if Itto's beetle wasn't immediately defeated.
You give your beetle a nice pat for a job well done as Itto picks up his beetle shocked.
"Alright, I lost that time, but this next round will be different. He just got stage fright is all."
Another round goes and you win again. Itto challenges you again and surprise, surprise you win again. This loop goes on and on until the boys arrive with the clothes and materials.
You cheer tiredly as Itto finally stops challenging you to help his gang with building the shrine. You pick up your tired beetle and hold him close to you as you watch them begin building.
Itto's beetle pinches your leg lightly to get your attention. You smile at the purple beetle and hold him too. Now out of battle the two beetles are friendly with each other.
"Never again Shinobu, that was at least 35 rounds."
"37 actually but hey, who's counting?"
You chuckle at her words and watch as she takes the uniform from the boys. She walks back and hands you the clothes.
"There's a small stall right on the outskirts of Inazuma City. You can change there."
You look at where she's pointing and thank her before going to it. You enter it and take off the mask. After changing clothes, you look at yourself in the mirror.
The outfit itself was Inazuma style with near unnoticeable patches. You never imagined you would be wearing clothes like this in Teyvat. Putting on the mask and looking back into the mirror, you feel more like a part of this world.
Was it because without it you would be hunted? Were you just able to disassociate better with it on? Or were you truly so isolated from the person you wished to be, that living with a mask and an altered identity was more comfortable?
You shake off those thoughts and leave the stall. You get back to where the Arataki gang is building the shrine. Your shrine. And sit beside Shinobu who is supervising to make sure they don't accidentally kill themselves.
You casually chat with Shinobu slowly bringing the conversation to the topic you want. You finally get to say the sentence that will serve as information bait.
"Actually, I'm trying to find a boat to Liyue. I want to keep exploring."
As much as you would love to stay in Inazuma a while longer to look around, Ei isn't the only one you were worried about. Yae, Heizou, and Ayato were all threats in their own right.
They're all good at sniffing out lies and mysteries. And you happen to be the biggest one, especially with this mask.
But Shinobu never got to reply to your comment as Sara approaches you all. Her stare is intimidating as she glares at Itto. Her voice has that same crisp professionalism that you remember her for.
"What is it that you all are doing here? The residents are complaining that your noise is distracting from their daily activities."
Itto gives an annoyed huff and stands up to face her.
"Me and the gang are building a shrine, thank you very much. I never do anything to attract more trouble, seriously what do you take me for? Like obviously I am the trouble, duh."
The way Sara examines the half-built shrine is similar to a stranger looking at a little kid's art piece.
"At least you're doing something productive for once. Despite that, you still need a permit to build one."
Shinobu sighs and stands up. Sara examines the permit from Shinobu before handing it back to her. Just as Sara was about to leave, she finally notices you.
"And who is this? You didn't drag them into your shenanigans, did you?"
The accusatory tone in her voice directed towards Itto made you smile but Itto's sputtered defense was what made you laugh. Sara watches you before approaching you.
"What is your name? I don't think I recognize you as a local or as a frequent traveler. I'm Kujou Sara, general of the Tenryou Commission."
"It's nice to meet you Sara, I'm Y/N. This is my first-time visiting Inazuma."
You smile innocently at her knowing how strict she was at her job. She went silent before saying.
"Your hair, your jaw shape even your smile is so similar to the creator."
Your heart drops when you hear that. Shinobu and Itto look at you too, they can see the resemblance. But your smile stays on your face with ease.
"I've heard that before but thank you for the compliment. Being similar in those features is a blessing."
Your tone is wistful like a shy admirer. Sara's suspicions seem to ease but she becomes curious instead.
"Where are you originally from? How often are you compared to the creator? Were you born with those similar features or did your face naturally change into it?"
With each question Sara gets closer and closer. Her tone has a rare curiosity and just a hint of reverence. It was a good decision to be wary of the cult and all the acolytes. It seems like most of them would react the same way Ei did if they saw your face.
"Your presence. If I'm not wrong, it feels exactly like how the creator would control us."
Her tone becomes cold and as you had no time to answer any of her questions, the suspicion has tripled.
You jump back as lightning flashes right where she was as she retreats a step. She stares at you waiting for your answer. Shinobu and Itto seem to fade in the background as you stare at Sara.
They all want answers. Answers that you don't have. The truth will only be seen as a lie and what lie could you possibly tell them that-
Oh.
That could work. Yes, it can definitely work.
You sigh and turn your head to the side while lowering it a little.
"I was hoping to keep quiet about this longer until I was sure of it but if you insist then I should tell you all the truth. Especially Itto and Shinobu since they've helped me out a lot."
You spin a story on how you woke up with little to no memories at a little shrine near Ritou. You rest your cheek on your hand as you recall how you heard the most beautiful voice state that you were now the creator's oracle. How you were told that you were not going to be controlled but be a way for everyone to communicate almost directly with the creator.
As you finish, they all stare at you with in slight suspicion but no hostility. You smile to yourself as you realize that they are willing to believe. That they could be convinced of your lie.
You play with your hands as you solemnly tell them that you understand that they may not believe you. That the creator even warned you of this being the most likely possibility.
Your smile is gentle, and your voice is a little hopeful as you explain that by communicating with the creator you could prove your status as an oracle.
"Prove it. Show us that you are truly the chosen oracle of the creator."
Sara says firmly.
"I want to believe you Y/N and I hate agreeing with Kujou chicken but I'm serious about the creator. I'll need to see this proof too or else I'll having to actually knock you with Beefcake as revenge for lying by using the creator. I speak for Shinobu and the gang."
You can see Shinobu roll her eyes at Itto's theatrics, but she doesn't interrupt. You smile and nod your head.
"Of course! Using the creator like that is blasphemous. I just need a small shrine to pray in private. If anybody sees or interrupts me, it could make the process go wrong."
Sara accepts that and leads you to a small temple in the middle of Byakko Plain. Which most definitely did not exist when you were still just a player.
You walk inside and stare at the murals that decorate the walls. It's you, undoubtedly so. Some are beautiful, while others are hauntingly sad. You can't help but let your eyes linger on the mural of you embracing a crying Thunderbird that was slowly becoming a Thunder Manifestation.
Probably Kapatcir, the Thunderbird that bonded with Ruu on Tsurumi Island. You never bothered to really memorize this kind of stuff but perhaps being the creator has made you automatically recall everything.
Sara leads you deeper into the temple until you stop at a alter. The altar itself is beautiful. A cobblestone base with Sakura, Amur Maple, and even some Otogi wood used to make the structure of it.
It reaches almost as high as the ceil and the trees wind around a statue of yourself. The statue depicts you with a peaceful expression and clasp hands.
You try to ignore the blood stains that cover the base of your statue. You go into a kneeling position and clasp your hands. Sara leaves the temple and it's only when the light from the door is gone that you relax.
The candles around your altar keep the temple bright and you open the screen.
You already know from experience that simply telling them private information will just lead you to be more suspicious. Instead, you switch out their weapons. From fully leveled weapons to dull blades, you close the screen.
You leave the temple and head back to where the gang and Sara is waiting. You hear the sounds of Itto trying (and failing) to challenge Sara to a rematch as you get into view.
Shinobu sees you first.
"Y/N! Did you finish praying?"
You nod with a gentle smile.
"I did and they answered my prayer. As we know, the creator can really only affect the acolytes so please take out your weapons."
"Gladly, I mean their grace gave me a wonderful fully upgraded Whiteblind that makes me even more powerful than I already am!"
Itto summons his weapon and holds it over his shoulder in a pose. Yet in his hands is a level 1, one star, Waster Greatsword. Shinobu sighs and breaks it to him.
"Boss look at your weapon."
"What? Why would I? It's fine, the creator gave me it before they even- Oh my archon, this isn't my claymore!"
As Shinobu and Itto squabble, Sara looks at the Hunter's bow that she now has. It's so unlike the Sacrificial bow that she normally wields. She feels weak with it, like the creator deemed her unworthy of their gifts.
Looking back up at you, she speaks with a small sadness that doesn't go unnoticed by you.
"It seems you are telling the truth. I apologize for doubting you. There has never been anything on an oracle appearing, so I was suspicious. Could you please pray and ask-"
"Y/N! You have to speak with the creator again! There's no way I can wield this hunk of junk. Not when I know that my great Whiteblind that was given to me by the creator is somewhere out there."
Itto shamelessly cuts Sara off. You laugh and reassure them.
"Don't worry, I'll pray and ask them to change it back. It was only temporary after all."
You leave quickly to the temple and change the weapons back. Shinobu didn't bother taking out her sword, but you still gave her, her correct one back.
You get back in time to hear Sara announce her departure to see Ei.
"I must report this to the Almighty Shogun. The existence of an oracle could mean a great deal of things. Including the chance that the Almighty Shogun can inquire the creator through you as to why she has not been awakened yet."
You didn't pull for her before and you certainly won't after how she chased you. Ei could even take you awakening her as a sign of approval of hunting you.
And there's no way you can let Sara tell Ei about your existence yet either. You would be seen as suspicious due to being found on the same day the 'imposter' was found. You needed a firm reputation as the oracle before you could ever meet Ei again.
"And I have to stop you from doing that. You see there's a reason the creator wants to keep my oracle status quiet. The creator wishes to not only see the world but all the acolytes naturally. Lumine is a famous traveler, people naturally act differently around her. But I'm not well known so everyone's true or normal attitudes are revealed to me. They want to see them as their truest self and warning the Electro Archon beforehand will go against the creators wishes."
Yes, it contradicts how you want people to be aware of you being an oracle, but it's works better than you would expect. Sara is too devoted to go against the creators wishes so she'll stay quiet. Shinobu is trustworthy and will keep quiet to please the creator.
But Itto and the gang? They'll either boast or let it slip easily. Anything that is told to stay quiet or secret almost always gets spread even faster. And since no one would dare speak to Ei casually nor will she actively look for information, Ei will still be oblivious. Only Yae could possibly let Ei know and you plan to be gone by then.
Sara keeps her head down as she speaks.
"Our truest self? Truly, the creator thinks far ahead than anyone else. Can I ask you a favor? How does the creator view me? I treated you with suspicion when you were only doing the creators will. Is that my truest self?"
You reach out your hands and grasp both of hers. She seems so sad and resigned that you can't stop yourself from using your title to speak plainly.
"Sara, the creator has seen you and your truest self is not what you believe. They see just how devoted you are to the Electro Archon and to them. The way you take your job seriously to protect the people of Inazuma, how you do your upmost to preserve their will. They wish that you would grow more when it comes to your emotional state, but they love seeing you take pride in your work. There is nothing to fear."
The way you tilt your head makes it obvious that you're staring directly into her eyes. Your skin, your hold on her hands, that piercing but warm gaze. Your features so similar to the creator. It's like she's looking at the creator in the flesh.
"Your grace..."
Sara whispers before jumping back as you're pulled away from her.
"Hey! Stop hogging Y/N! Weren't you going back to your boring workplace? If you're gonna stay any longer than you should just agree to my rematch."
Itto is holding you by the back of your shirt lifting you above the ground as he glares at Sara. You wanted to laugh at his clear jealousy.
Sara grits her teeth in annoyance.
"I was just conversing with Y/N, but I will be on my way now."
With that Sara leaves with Itto putting you back down as he stomps his foot like a kid.
"That stupid chicken, why did you hold her hand? You could have just held mine, I'm way stronger!"
"Didn't she beat you in a fight?"
"Well yeah, I admit that, but she always refuses a rematch! She's too chicken to accept it because she knows she'll lose!"
"Boss the shrine is done!" "Let's go get the offerings now." "Maybe some candles, candy, and lavender melon."
You struggle not to fall as Itto drapes his whole arm on you. He turns to his boys with a grin as Shinobu helps you escape his grip.
"Good work boys, we'll get the best stuff."
You walk with the Arataki gang as they gather stuff to offer. Sometimes they ask you which one is better to offer since you can communicate with the creator. It's not like anyone will believe that you, a scrappy lying human is their beloved creator.
You smile and shamelessly pick anything you like. You were the creator after all, this totally wasn't self-serving in the slightest.
Taking it back they light the candles and offer the gifts. There's a rare moment of silence as you all pray to the shrine. Well at least they were, you were too busy trying not to fall asleep from such a busy day.
It's only when you are eating roasted lavender melon with them all that Shinobu speaks on topic you needed.
"I almost forgot, Y/N, you planned to leave Inazuma right?"
"What!? You're leaving already? Why?"
Itto's whiny dramatic voice made you smile.
"I'm not leaving yet; I don't have any transportation. I'm following the creators will. As the oracle it's my duty to spread the creator's thoughts and feelings. It's my honor to be one of the bridges between the creator and Teyvat. While Lumine is used to let acolyte be awakened, I am used to communicate."
Itto groans before sighing.
"Fine fine, I understand. You know what? I'm such a great oni that I'll even bring you to meet a guy that can help you. Pretty kind of me, right?"
Perfect, a possible transportation to escape Ei.
"That does sound great! I would love to meet them."
You can basically see Itto's ego grow with every word you say. Before Shinobu can say or do anything Itto lifts you up onto his shoulder. His hand holds you steady as he laughs at your panic.
"Then what are we waiting for? Feel free to admire my greatness as we go to see my guy."
Shinobu waves sympathetically as Itto hauls you towards Inazuma City. He asks you loads of questions about the creator and how they view him.
"Do they think I'm great? Am I their favorite? Of course, I'm their favorite, I am Arataki 'Numero Uno' Itto after all. Just look at me."
"They think it's funny how you always find a way to accidentally consume bean products."
"Oh god no, don't even mention beans. I can't believe they saw me in such a weak moment."
"They also wanted to whack every human who threw beans at you with a beehive to see how they like being allergic."
"You're not lying about that right? Cause that's the best news I've ever heard in my whole life!"
It's fun, the whole walk with Itto was fun. It's even better than you imagined being in Genshin would be like. You wanted to continue living like this. But the looming threat of Ei hanging over your shoulder seemed to stain your mood.
Your hand brushed against your mask. It's a reminder that you probably can't ever live your life here without it. It's still a cult that may attack you at any time.
With that grim reminder, dread pools in your gut as Itto leads you closer to Thoma.
Oh god, oh fuck if it's Thoma then it's Ayaka and if it's both its Ayato. And Ayato could definitely figure you out. Maybe you'll be fine, not everyone that meets Thoma will eventually meet Ayato.
"Thoma! My bro, my guy, my dude. This is Y/N, and they need your help getting a boat to Liyue. They're a super sick oracle for the creator and got a big mission to follow the creators will."
Shit. That one little word is repeated in your mind as Itto keeps talking. You were right about how saying 'it's a secret' makes things spread faster but you didn't want it to happen while you were still here! Thoma has a smile frozen on his face as he listens.
"I'm sorry they're the creator's oracle? I really mean no offense, but this is quite hard to believe."
Thoma smiles sheepishly while Itto pushes you in front of him to face Thoma. There's no point in trying to remind Itto to keep your identity on the down low. Holding out your hand you speak cheerfully to Thoma.
"Yeah, you aren't the first acolyte to not believe me. It's understandable since I'm the first."
Thoma shakes your hand, it's a little hot but not burning. It seems visions really do affect their bodies.
"How did you know I'm an acolyte? I'm just a simple housekeeper for the Kamisato Clan."
"Like Itto said, I'm an oracle. The creator grants me knowledge needed to meet and communicate with everyone."
"Well, I'm sorry Y/N but there's no way I can help you with your identity as an oracle so, sorry to say, suspicious."
It makes sense, Thoma while being a nice guy is loyal to Ayato and Ayaka first and foremost. It's one of his key defining traits and that also means he's loyal to the creator too. Itto tries to convince him by retelling how you switched the weapons, but Thoma doesn't believe it.
"Okay if I tell you information that only very few people know that can prove that I'm truly an oracle, will you help me find a boat?"
"Alright but I have very high expectations. I refuse to help someone that might be using the creators title to trick people."
"To the public knowledge, Lord Kamisato was awakened and then you were awakened. But that isn't the truth. That was a switcheroo Lord Kamisato made to avoid enemies using the truth against the Kamisato Clan. You were awakened long before Lord Kamisato but had to stay quiet about it per his instructions."
Thoma looked at you with slight suspicion. Only Ayato, Ayaka, and Thoma knew about this, yet you a stranger did. But he just couldn't shake off the nostalgic feeling you gave him.
"That's honestly really shady but I can't deny that you're impressive. The only people that know about this would never say anything unless they really trust you."
He smiled kindly like you always seen him do in the game.
"I'll honor our agreement and help you find a boat."
Itto cheered at Thoma's agreement and waved goodbye as you and Thoma left. The gang caught up and started walking to God knows where as you and Thoma walked through Byakko Plains.
"An oracle huh? That does explain why the feeling of being awakened seems to surround you."
The grass swayed as the moon rose higher in the sky.
"All you acolytes tell me that. I can't feel it myself, but it sounds amazing."
"It is, like being embraced by the creator themself. Do you truly not remember much about yourself or your life before becoming an oracle?"
The butterflies dance with the fireflies as the sound of hilichurls dancing can be heard faintly.
"Other than my name, my bag and the clothes on my back, I truly had nothing. My only knowledge of Teyvat is the one the creator shows me through dreams, visions, and stories."
"This must feel like a whole new world to you then. But you're adapting quite well. Would it be presumptuous to ask what the creator thinks of me?"
The path splits to two at Konda Village and Thoma leads you to the right. Nerves prick at you as remember that Ritou is on the left. Where is he taking you?
"A malewife."
"A what?"
"It must be some slang from their world. But it isn't an insult from what I've gathered. In fact, I think it's a compliment."
Thoma blushes a little as he stares straight ahead. You turn your head to hide your smile at his cute reaction. Chinju forest surrounds you as you pass under a red gate and walk along the stone path. You really hoped he wasn't taking you where you think it is.
"But if you want a deeper answer, the creator sees you as a loyal person. As kind and helpful you are to others, it's your fierce loyalty that keeps their eye on you. It burns as bright as your flames."
His eyes shine at your words as he looks up at the sky wistfully. The moon seems to reflect in his eyes.
"Do you mind if I tell you something a little personal? I just feel comfortable with you so easily."
"Go ahead."
"When I still lived in Monstadt with my mom, my dad would send me letters from Inazuma. My parents had their differences, but they never failed to speak so highly of the creator. His letters always ended with a reminder to look for the creator in my hard times."
His words made your shoulders heavy. With guilt or responsibility? You don't know yet. You could only take some solace in the glowing blue flowers of the forest.
"When I left Mondstadt to find my dad, I took a little boat and sailed with a bottle of wine. It's a miracle I didn't die. It was the creator's grace."
You remember reading that part of his character story. It was a shame he never found his father nor the bottle of wine.
"When I was on the boat as the storm raged and it was falling apart at the seams. All I could do was pray, pray that I would somehow survive. When I woke up, I was on Inazuma. My lord and lady were the ones who found me and took me in. That's why I gave them my loyalty just like I gave my loyalty to the creator."
You're standing at the front of the Kamisato Estate when Thoma stops and smiles at you. His eyes were almost closed with how hard he was smiling.
You could tell he was happy, you wished you could feel the same. Because at that moment all you could feel was relief. Relief that you wouldn't have to feel responsible for all their misplaced faith.
You were not a God; you did not save them. But if they knew the truth that you were their beloved creator, you don't know if you could actually tell them that.
"Thoma..."
You trail off, not wanting to lie in such a personal moment. You clutch the strap of your bag. Thoma looks at you with gentle eyes patiently waiting for whatever you have to say.
"The words I'm gonna say right now are mine, not the creators. Even if you didn't sail to Inazuma and almost drown. Even if you didn't meet Lord and Lady Kamisato. I still fully believe that you would be just as great and loyal to whoever you chose. A friend, a lover, even if it was an animal. Anyone would be lucky to have someone like you care for them. You, yourself even without that vision is just as incredible."
You start off softly but feel a rise in your pace as your words come together. You look up at him and smile brightly. All your teeth show, and you feel that happiness he displayed earlier.
Thoma sucks in a sharp breath as his heart rate speeds up. His face burns for reasons he can't seem to comprehend. Why did your words have such a strong effect? How do you look so ethereal with the moonlight shining on you?
A guard calls out to you both from the top of the stairs.
"Thoma?! Is that you?"
You peak past Thoma to see a guard walk closer. Before you could see Thomas's face, he turns his head around clears his throat.
"Hey Hirotatsu! This is Y/N a special guest I brought to meet our lord and lady. Depending on how the meeting goes, they might become more than just a special guest."
His words remind you of your situation. He brought you to Ayato and Ayaka. You'll have to lie and use all sorts of tricks to survive with your life and identity intact. You hope desperately that Ayato doesn't ask you to take off the mask.
Thoma turns to you with a apologetic smile.
"I know this isn't Ritou like you were probably expecting but I promise you. If you can prove your oracle status to my lord and lady, they'll provide you with the safest and fastest way to Liyue."
His smile turns almost sad as he says his next words.
"I'm sure you understand why it's important for me to make sure that you travel in a safe boat."
You know what he's saying. You know that this is technically emotional manipulation. But damn it, he's looking at you with warm eyes and a nervous smile that makes you want to pinch his cheeks. You were weak in this area.
"It's fine, I'm no fake. I'll prove it to them just as I proved it to you and everyone else so far."
You speak with casual confidence and face the stairs that lead to hell. Ayaka wasn't the issue, she's sheltered to a degree that you could spin a tale and have a good chance of escaping. But Ayato? That man believes few things and trusts even fewer.
A pleasantly hot fingerless gloved hand takes yours heating you up. Thoma leads you gently up the stairs. You follow him like a moth to a flame knowing that you're close to being burnt to a crisp.
Something to add is that if Y/N changes things that happened or says something that doesn't align with what happened. It was completely intentional. I just don't want to write "You lied, you paraphrased etc at almost every dialogue. I'm riding on my creative high and taking full advantage of it. Plus, I'm finally almost done getting used to writing again. I loved all your comments, reblogs and hearts! And my taglist is open to whoever wants to be in. Just leave a comment and I'll add you.

Heya! Your writing looks pretty nice hehe! Don't mind me asking for something a little special!
How about Yandere!Kujou Sara with a shy, timid reader? Perhaps the reader is scared of her at first, but once they start to slowly open up, she starts getting endeared and attached? I hope you have fun with this idea!
I did have a lot of fun with it. I didn't exactly see Sara as a possible yandere type until I started thinking of this scenario- even though I think I could do it better. I just can't tell what would I need to change to be honest.
Yandere! Sara with a timid S/O
Cw: manipulation
Reader here is: Gender neutral
Disclaimer: everything in purple text is Sara's narrative so these notes especially aren't meant to be taken seriously. This is not healthy. This entire scenario isn't showing a healthy relationship. Nor is it gloryfing it.
At first she didn't pay any attention to you. Your lives bearly ever crossed and you liked it that way. She was... A bit terrifying.
Her cold glare, her strictness. It was just hard to see past it. It's like she was allergic to smiling.
But fate has it that it likes to mess around. Things changed, slightly but they did either way.
You were helping a friend out run a stall during a festival. It was pretty hard for you given how you didn't want to interact with people.
Luckily, you didn't have to do much around the customers... Until your friend went to take a break.
You were all by yourself. Eventually you were yelled at by a customer and just as luck would have it- Sara was passing by.
Seeing that person cause a ruckus she stopped that person without even second of hesitation.
She was your hero, and you couldn't thank her enough. The way you held onto her hand shaking, your eyes avoiding hers as if she'd turn you into stone if you dared to look... It was captivating.
There was just something in the way you acted. She couldn't put a finger on why was that... But she wanted to feel that again. Even if it meant placing you in an uncomfortable situation once more.
She started following you. You were unaware of it but your gut told you something was off. Your friends dismissed it as you being too paranoid and that nothing was wrong.
And they were right to think that, after all she was only looking out for you. In time, you'll see that. It was normal for Sara to walk around Inazuma so any place you "accidentally" bumped into her felt natural.
Eventually you started interacting more with each save. Her black wings almost looked like that of an angel to you. She was happy when you started to actually talk... Even if neither of you knew what to talk about exactly. But it was fine as long as you looked only at her.
Whenever you smiled at her she felt things unlike any other... But she liked whenever she made you feel safe much more. She wanted you to rely on her.
She loved feeling useful. You had to have her by your side or else you wouldn't know how to function.
She was attached to a point where she took you everywhere. She didn't want to be away for even a moment. At first you just thought it was because of the fact that you freshly started dating... But it was only partly the reason.
You didn't want to see her wrongs. You were so focused on the times she helped you, you didn't think about how toxic she was becoming. Then again, how is keeping you safe toxic? Sure sometimes she overreacted but that's because she loved you.

UNCLEAN BLOOD.
Golden blood trickled from your open wound. You immediately whipped around. Not wanting anyone to see. Zhongli who was intently staring at you from afar caught a glimpse at the blood. His eyes widen. He always thought something was odd about you. How you knew more then you should. I mean your just a commoner. But now his suspicion is all cleared up. He cannot be mistaken. You are the creator. You are his grace. Your his one and only.
He must tell everybody of his founding. He can't keep to himself. Everybody must know that your here. And so he did. Before you knew it you were in a large castle like house. Dead right smack in the middle of
Liyue. Venti, Ei, Nahida and zhongli were at your feet. Ready to fulfill any of your request.
This wasn't a kingdom. It was a big cult. And you were the cult leader. You had someone around you every waking hour. In case something happened to you. It was nice at first. But it soon became suffocating. You never had time for your self. And now your starting to miss your real home. Your miss your friends, your family, your coworkers. You miss everyone.
How did you even get here. One minute you were reading theories about how your genshin characters are self aware. And consider you as God. And then the other minute your being sucked through your screen.
Your loyal followers have been killing innocent people because they look like you. Or even because they have the same eye color. Those tiny little details get them killed. You have tried telling them to stop killing. But they insist that it's necessary.
Sometimes if they can't kill the person they will send someone else to do. For Nahida it's Cyno. Ei it's Miko or Sara. Zhongli it's Xiao or childe. I mean they couldn't refuse if it's for you.
People are dying because of you. But you have turned a blind eye to this all. You couldn't do anything really. You have no special powers. Your still your normal self. The only thing different is blood. So really your powerless against them. The only thing you can really do is share you knowledge from reading theories, quests, the lore and voice lines.
But for them it's more then enough. They love you. They are obsessed with you. If anything happened to you. You can't even imagine what will happen to the world.
You're here forever.

ᴛᴀʙʟᴇ ᴏꜰ ᴄᴏɴᴛᴇɴᴛꜱ

A scaramouche x [gender netural] reader story
♫ J’ai pas fait semblant, je te jure. J’ai jamais dit non, j’ai juste. Laissé le temps courir, partir, venir, mourir, courir, partir, venir, et mourir ♫
"I received news from your soldiers that you acquired my assistance?" An angelic voice came from an elegant woman with long rosy pink hair, she resembled that of a mermaid.
"Divine Priestess. You sure took your sweet time getting here," Scaramouche said bitterly.
"Well, this unexpected snowstorm did prove to be a difficult travel for your soldiers, not to mention that one couldn't breathe through their mouth."
"Oh, so he made it? Impressive. I'll be straightforward with you, Kokomi, I'm not here for idle chit chat."
Kokomi grinded her teeth at Scaramouche, who had very little to no care for his people. "Of course, I don't want to waste your time here any longer, my Lord."
"I'll pretend you aren't mocking me just this once for their sake," Scaramouche unwrapped a blanket to reveal the raven he had been carrying in his arms. Kokomi gasped at the sight.
"A raven? But I thought all of them were terribly massacred."
"I had thought so too. However, it seems as though one managed to survive. But not without being harmed. I managed to stop the poison from getting anywhere near their heart, but only someone with your expertise can fully rid them of this poison."
"Yes, of course, I'll gladly do so. Seems to be yet another effect of black magic. " Kokomi carefully picked the raven off Scaramouche's hold and placed them on a flat surface, "You poor thing, do not fret. The pain will only be temporary."
Scaramouche gave Kokomi space, distancing himself. He had saved the raven purely out of impulse.
The truth was,
He saw a little bit of himself when he witnessed the Raven's begging.
The times he had begged his mother to not toss him aside.
"Please don't leave me! I swear I'll be better, I'll become better!"
But when he begged, no one saved him.
So he saved you, his raven.
It didn't take too long for you to wake up. The immediate soreness rushed through your body. You held your head as you felt a headache coming in.
Though your eyes were blurry, you could make your surroundings you were in an infirmary of some sorts. But most importantly, you weren't home.
Your memories started to flood back in. They were dead, you could feel it. You were alone.
"So you're finally awake."
Your eyes shifted to the doorway where the man who saved you stood.
"Who are you?" On guard, you still had no clue of this man's intention regardless of his helping hand.
"I was expecting a 'Thank you', but I did hear you Raven's were quite the bold ones when it comes to strangers not of their Lord's."
"You didn't answer my question." You carefully demanded.
"Well, to put it simply, I'm your Lord." He crossed his arms.
Your Lord? But that would mean. Now that you looked at him, he awfully resembled the Raiden Shogun. Oh.
"You're her son."
He shoulders tensed at your realization. He sighed, rolling his eyes from you to the bandages on your stomach.
"That I am. Seems your injury has been healing quite well. " he placed a hand at his chest, playing with the fabric. You eyed his strange actions.
"If you have taken place, does that mean the Shogun has stepped down?"
"She died."
Your heart sank. "She - she died? Is that why she didn't come to save us?" You talked more to yourself than to the man in the room.
"The events happened just a mere day before your family's incident. It's such a shame. You all were supposed to be my army."
Your headache was starting to hurt. What now? What now? What now? What now? What now?
"Calm yourself, you swore to me, remember? I don't need a brainless fool by my side."
You were still in shock that all of this had occurred, this- it was too much.
"Ugh, clearly you are still recovering. I will have someone to check on you for the time being. I'll give you some time to think, but when I return, I expect a true Raven to be here"
-☆-
The morning air felt unusually cold, as you waited at a food vendor in Inazuma City for Kujou Sara. Last night thoughts lingered in your mind.
"Hey, you alright?" Kujou Sara woke you up from your thoughts.
Huh? You were confused as to how you exactly made this bench you and Sara sat on in front of a small pond with Koi fish swimming about. Was I that deep in my thoughts?
"Yes, sorry I was just zoning out."
"So, what did he talk to you about? Did he confess his undying love for you?" Sara practically gagged at the idea.
"Nothing really just something about scouting the area near Kannazuka island."
Sara nodded taking a bit out of her egg roll. "Didn't you say you have something to tell me?" You asked.
"Ah yes that. I just wanted to ask a personal question, if you don't mind that is."
"That depends on the question, Sara."
"Do you like Scaramouche?" You almost choked on your food.
"No." You managed to cough out.
"Well you sure answered that quickly, a little too eager to shut it down if i do say so myself."
You gave her a deadpanned look to which she lightly laughed at.
"That couldn't have possibly been your question, stop messing with me, your jokes are not funny."
"Oh but you laughed when I fell down the stairs." Sara sarcastically said.
You covered your chuckle at the thought.
"Wow!!" Sara exaggerated.
"Now see, that was funny." You both smiled at the memory.
You both relaxed in the silence eating your food. You've grown close to Sara during your few months living and working in Tenshukaku, often checking on each other regardless of different positions.
Though you denied it you did trust her and valued her opinions even though they annoyed you or you disagreed with them. However, at this very moment.
She was lying.
So this is how it is. So this is how it is.
You both were lying.
Sara broke the silence in disappointment, "Do you even know who you are?"
"Do not patronize me." You immediately retorted.
"Can't you believe it's been almost 4 months, and you still haven't told me your actual name?"
"What are you getting at, Sara."
"You've thrown your life away and gave it to someone who is just keeping it stored away."
"Such poetic words, it almost touched my heart truly."
"I get it, you've lost so many-" that was it.
"Don't kid yourself, Sara, you don't get it. You never will, but I've never antagonized you for it. So what? Let me throw my life away. You are not responsible for my actions. Don't waste your time on me when I make my decision. I chose this."
"You do love him… don't you?" Sara's eyes stayed on yours. And all you saw was pity and regret.
"This conversation is over."
The koi fish scattered away as you stood up, taking your leave back into the city. Sara did not call out for your name, not that you expected her to.
You were in a rush back to Tenshukaku purely out of frustration, you didn't usually get upset that easily at least not with Sara.
You were on edge.
What did she really want to say? It felt like she was testing my current mindset. And clearly, I have failed. The trust is no longer there. She won't confide in me anymore. Could she be-
You were abruptly pushed back when your shoulder collided with another.
"Oh, so sorry, dear." A lady grabbed your arm apologetically. You turned to look at the said the Lady. No way.
Lady Guji of Narukami Grand Narukami Shrine.
Also known as Yae Miko.
"It's not a problem. What a rare occurrence to see you far into the city Lady Guji. What brings you here?"
"Ah, just a change of scenery. Working two jobs as Chief editor and Head shrine Maiden, a woman like me surely needs a break, don't you think?"
"Yes indeed" Lady Guji's way of speech was always hard for you to read, it's as though she is an open book with no words written on it.
"You look so gloomy dear, it's been quite a while hasn't it. That last time we've truly interacted was when I visited your family." She clasped her hand on yours as a means to say her condolences.
"I must be on my Lady Guji" you broke off from her hold, bowing and continuing your walk.
She called your name.
"Whenever you seek answers you know where to find me."
You gazed behind your shoulder as you watched Lady Guji walk off.
She is heading in the direction of Kujou Sara.
-☆-
In a discreet room in Komore Teahouse, four guests hold a heavy discussion.
"Raven's are very loyal Sara, they were soldiers and messengers for the Shogun herself. And now only one remains. They aren't just loyal because Scaramouche saved them but because it's their job" Shikanoin Heizou explains.
Sara groaned in frustration as Yae Miko hummed.
"Oh detective, it's much more than that, surely you have realized that?"
"Miko enough of your literature input." Sara barked.
"Sara you can't deny they clearly have something between them that the public eye can't see, maybe even they themselves can't see-" Yae Miko took a sip out of her tea.
"-Regardless, your relationship has cracked after your inputting"
"Which is why I told you not to engage so brashly," Heizou added.
"Yes, I get it, I fucked up. However, I do not regret it one bit. They are obviously very detached from themselves. I simply want to help."
"Relax, Sara, one might think you're the one in love-" Miko teased, though it only upset the ex-general.
"Enough of these games Miko. I had enough about them. The whole purpose isn't about Raven, it's about Scaramouche and bringing him down."
"Alright alright, slow your horses Sara. Raven may not be the whole purpose but they surely do play a part" Heizou defused the rise in emotions.
"With what exactly?" Sara calmed herself.
"Well, Divine Priestess? You've been unusually quiet when you're the one who hosted this meeting?" Miko gestured to the unspoken guest.
"Apologies everyone, I'm just soaking in the many possible outcomes of this rebellion" Kokomi placed the tea she was holding for a while down.
"Of course, because this could always backfire on us at any time. Which might very well cost us our lives" Heizou reminded. Everyone nodded in acknowledgement.
Kokomi cleared her throat.
"There is one factor we might be able to exploit from our Raven's existence-
their heart."
-☆-
You trashed everything in your room. Glass shattered on the floor. Curtains dragged to the floor.
You were sweating, as your chest was burning up. Your brain screamed at you as you gripped the edge of your vanity table. You couldn't even bring yourself to look at your reflection out of fear on your appearance.
It felt like darkness was cloaking you, suffocating you. Constant whispers of wanting to kill and commit multiple bloodsheds flew into your ears as you told it to "shut up" which to no surprise did not work.
Frequently, Kujou Sara's name was brought up. You always talked big on doing what you must. But the morbid description of putting an end to her clawed at you. She was your friend, after all.
I always seem to contradict myself. You laughed at yourself.
You wanted to rip your skin, you couldn't take it.
You heard your name being called from behind you.
"You're aware when I said this room is for you to do as you please, I didn't mean to turn it into a dumpster." You lifted your eyes to see Scaramouche through the mirror, blurring out your image. You hadn't realized he welcomed himself inside.
"Lord-"
"Don't you ever get tired of calling me that? It's just me and you. You know my name use it."
"I didn't mean to Kuni" he softly sighed as he walked up closer to you resting his hand on the top of your chair.
"I don't know about that, you seemed to make sure to destroy every fragile item here. Mind telling what's the issue?"
"It's nothing."
"Don't lie to me"
"…"
"It's quite embarrassing for me to have to fetch my own soldier when they should've arrived at the said time." He complained but he didn't really seem to care that much about the matter.
"It won't happen again"
"I would hope not. Now-" he grabbed your hair pulling it off your face.
"-Who is the problem?"
"All of them," you answered.
He hummed. "I should have expected as much. Well, there is nothing we can do at the movement. What do you say we just act it out till the moment to strike arises."
"Yes sir"
Sir? You never really called him as such. And it was off-putting for Scaramouche. He chose to ignore it.
"... I never liked that Kujou girl anyways."
He pulled out a handkerchief from his pocket wiping the sweat off your face with it.
"Now we have work to do, dear. Don't worry about the mess, I'll have someone take care of it."
You slowly stood up from your chair with the help of Scaramouche pulling your chair out for you.
"Calmer?" He asked.
You nodded. You peeked through the now wide opened windows thanks to you. "The snow is finally drying up."
"The cold still lingers so make sure to wear your coat, I'll meet you outside."
"No, wait." You called out.
Scaramouche stopped at the door, awaiting your response. "My coat is on the bed, I just need to put it on. So might as well go down together" you swiftly made your way to your bed to put on your coat.
"Well then, hurry up, would you?"
Scaramouche held the door for you, as you walked out together.
And the voices were gone just like that.

Hi hope it’s not to late to request , would it be alright to request Yandere (separate please ) Sara , Itto , Miko and Lumine (if not maybe Yelan instead ) with a kitsune darling Who is going through rut/heat, but instead of horny you just want rugby tackle people instead cause you want to dominate them instead . Hope this makes sense ♥️
"Oh no, you don't!"(+Art)
You are a feisty Kitsune during your rut/heat, how does your the yandere deal with you?
Note : I’m sorry if the characters doesn’t feel yandere enough ueueu—i put seperate warning on each chapters just to be safe, i made reader heavily more feral than normal fox
Kitsune!Reader , GN-Neutral, mention of fights and blood, feral and animalistic, predator-prey element, slight yandere, suggestive, non-establish relationship (but you guys are friends or acquitance), misuse vision/elemental, reader is highly feral
Sara
Mild violence, description of violence
She will be confused why are you suddenly hostile with everyone, picking fights, tackling people, and gone for the day only to return back to her covered in dirt and scratches.
Everytime she ask, you just bare your fangs to her and left, completely out of your character. So she decided to follow you to find out what's making you so worked up and upset.
Only to find out you always go to the Tenryou Camp and asking to ‘practice' fighting with the soldiers there. But it looks like you just beat Sara’s soldier for fun.
What’s wrong with you? Why are you full of rage? Until she saw wild foxes mating here and there then she realize.
“It is your mating season”
Your ears perked up at her words and scowls “Yeah,so?”. She need to approached you carefully. She knows you are full of fury and would attack her un-provoked. She knows it is your hormones acting and she knows she could easily bodyslam you .She beat a buff Oni afterall, a kitsune like you is nothing to her Tengu blood. But, hurting you would be her last last last choice.
“Don’t..you need to..mate?” Sara doesn’t really understand Kitsune’s culture and asking that Shrine Maiden is completely off the list. Your ears perked up and you tilted your head. “No???i just want to fight people”. Now it’s Sara’s turn to be confused, because mating season means…it is in the name. Maybe you are still at the beginning of your rut/heat, that’s why you just want to dominate everything.
But, your behavior of causing ruckus is triggering her peace-keeper attitude. Her men are struggling to keep up with you. Even with weapon, a kitsune power in rut/heat season is more powerful. So she need to takes matter to her own hands. Someone need to put you in your place, and who else better in doing that other than her?
“Fight me.”
You were just licking your wounds before you freeze and look at her. “And stop licking your wound, it will get infected” Sara’s gaze flicked towards the wound and to your face, you scowled but asked her “Why suddenly you want to fight me?” . “I’m more worthy your time.” She answered without missing a beat.
Sara knew you were caught off-guard with her statement, you are not stupid, you know a tengu who has been training as a warrior could easily pull your ears off. But you are smart, you know she can keep up with you and provide more entertaining than her men. So you accepted her offer. “My my, aren’t you a good leader~offering yourself for me?You think you can keep up with me?” You scoffed playfully.
Oh how fool you are, you should be worried if YOU can keep up with her.
So it was a deal. You sated your urge by trying to dominating this Tengu warrior in front of you. Whoever can tackle and hold the other one on the ground first, win. Code word : you TRIED. Even with your hormones going off the roof, Sara always able to trick you and hold you down with her own bare hands. Weeks gone by with you and Sara warming up with stretching and ended with you covered in dirt under Sara’s hold. Feathers and furs are everywhere. Anyone who see you both will think you guys are trying to kill each other off.
Scratches from your nails, blue and purple bruises from Sara, tuft of fur and black feathers scattered around, and bit drop of blood here and there. Sara played fair, no bow and vision, purely her raw physical self-defense. Your kitsune power is on par with her tengu power, even with your rut/heat induced mind, Sara can still keep up with you with serious face whilst you growling and hissing here and there . Oh how she wished she can make you create other noises.
This time however, your hormones have been influencing hers too. She becomes more feral with you. Instead of feeling tired after fights, her energy burst when seeing you under her. Meanwhile, you are drained, lie on your stomach and covered in scratches and dirt, soft panting can be heard between both of you. Though you never win you felt relief after fighting with her. All your pent up energy are gone. Now for a break.
“Ah another lose, alright, get off me, i need a break now”. She doesn’t budge. Your tails swishing. You hate this position, your tails flat on the ground, your whole body on the ground, a sign of submission which is exactly the opposite of your goal fighting her. Your mind just jumped to be out of her grasp. Body squirmed, hissed, tail smacking her back and feet, you tried everything. “Sara!get off!!”
“Quit it.” You heard her growl. Sara didn’t know what happen to her. Her four wings flapped around whilst she felt your puffy tails swishing between her legs. Oh you had switched something inside Sara.
You just need to be drained out of energy to calm down right? Oh she will drain you alright.
Itto
Trapping/locked up,
He would be oblivious
Until of course you keep trying to pounce him, or at least your attempt to pounce him. Everytime he looks down at you because of his height you just scowl and attempting to push him downwards. But obviously he thought you are being playful so he push you back too, only for you to fully shove him down and stomping away.
Your ears always pointing backwards, tails swishing all over the place. Itto mistook it as you being playful, reached out to pat your head only for you to bite at his hand. What has gotten into you??
He was still oblivious until he meet Yae. Yae looked around Itto, you are not anywhere near him, and smiled to him “I assume your little fox are worn out?” Itto’s face scrunch in disagreement, then he proceed to dump all information of your weird feral behavior to Yae. Your weird body language, you pounces his gang members, your rage. Yae just chuckled.
“Oh don’t you get it? It’s the season.” Itto looked at her confused “Season?what season?” Yae spotted you staring at her intently a bit away from you both. Itto is facing away from you so he didn’t notice. Yae knew exactly what will happen. “The mating season”
//crack//
After a sound of broken branch, Itto spun around and he saw you dashed forward with claws ready towards Yae. He instinctively grabbed your collar. You hissed and scowl whilst trying to get Yae, what is wrong wi-oh…OHHHHH. Yae is another kitsune…are you just threatened? Itto pulled you back and Yae just chuckling “An Oni like you can handle them properly i’m sure of that.”
“LET ME GO AT HER” You yelled after Itto dragged you to his hut. “SHE OBVIOUSLY MOCKING ME” you squirm. “Heh, you sure you aren’t just threatened by her?” Itto never seen you swished your head so fast at him. Your gaze narrowing on his red orbs, full of pent up rage. “What.did.you.say?” Itto smirk. Oh how your scowling face is a new view for him. Ah-is your pheromone starting to get into him? “You.are.afraid.of her.” He said, fully intent on taunting you.
You are not the only one with pent up frustation
The hut filled with the sounds of wrestling, groans and scowls. You and Itto had a blown up fight. Whilst you try to to actively hold him down,Itto can just easily pushed you aside or pushed you back towards the other side of the room, and waiting for you to pounce at him again.
Itto let you live in his hut for “safety of arataki gang”. He will provide you the food and entertain you by ‘play fighting’ with you. Eventho you managed landing few scratches here and there, he will never touch you other than locking you in place to end the game or shoved you back. Itto can see this simple activity already draining you. You pants and sweating bullets. Have you been this attractive before? No no no, it seems you have taken toll on him.
“Enough games!!I’m out of this place!” You yelled and turned around to go out from his hut to escape. Your tails swished behind you in annoyance. Before you know it, a fist crashed into the door in front of you. Sometimes you forget that Itto’s oni power can make everything seems flimsy and breakable. “That’s right. Enough games.” You heard Itto’s low groan behind you.
Time to get into the main course of your season.
Yae
Mild Dub-con, usage of electro element, locking up
She is a sophisticated kitsune, perhaps with her taking in more mortal way of living makes her youkai side buried down.
But that doesn’t mean she can’t sense your rut/heat nor it doesn’t have any effect on her.
It’s the season, why aren’t you making nest yet?? Yae’s already provided you a private room that only you and her can enter, yet, you always left and she can hear foxes scowling and yipping around the shrine. Oh, you clearly are not horny… she doesn’t smell any arouse or lust scent on you. Well, you do lust for fight, that’s for sure.
Yae’s already dropping hints here and there, telling you how soft these fabric would be as a beddings, how wonderful the smell of sakura for bedroom, how soundproof the wall in the private room, how the food the shrine maidens brought for you are healthy to prepare little ones, how the foxes around the shrines are mating. Yet, you just ignore her and jumped down to find someone or something to fight.
Whenever you go back to the shrine, you are covered in bruises, scratch, and dirt, your hair is covered with sakura blooms and leaves. The shrine maidens were trying to clean you up but you simply scowl and just run behind the shrine to clean yourself up in the pond under the shrine.
Yae is curious with your aggressive behavior, she once found you trying to pounce a boar. As much as it is entertaining to see you become feral like this, your disobidience is not her thing. Simply little shock of electro made you whine and hesistantly followed her back to the shrine . ‘Well, that’s one way to put you in place.” She noticed your pupil become a slit, your eyes look more predatory. You huffed, not because you are tired no no, it seems you are trying to ‘calm down’. She can read your body language easily.
When she confront you about it, how you are refusing to be taken care of during rut/heat or nesting even though she provided everything, you simply answer “I don’t want to be the one caring for pups, i want to be the dominate one” and you hopping away, your puffy tails swishing behind. Hmm, it seems your maternity instinct simply isn’t showing up yet.
Oh that can be arranged, she will be the one pushing that maternal instinct out of you.
You usually slept in your fox form around the shrine, small body made fitting in any places. You often wake up by the sounds of the shrine maidens doing morning activity. After eating some snacks brought by the maidens, you ran down the shrine to sate your fighting energy. But this time…
“Ah,awake already,little one?”
That voice. “This..isn’t the stone i always slept on.” You are on a fluffy bed- no..it is a nest. Pillows and fabric surrounding in a circle, the scent is filled with Yae, sakura petals everywhere, fried tofu in a bowl next to the nest. The room is screaming Yae’s.
“Come eat, you need energy for your body. It’s our favorite.” Yae avoided your concern of her moving you around whilst you slept. You sniffed the food, cautious. “Me putting something in the tofu is the least of your concern.” With that you jumped out the nest, dashing through her to get into the door. Escape escape escape esc-
//zap//
You yelped and fell down, tails and ears twitching due to electro flowing into your body. “YOU DAMN FOX!” You turned on your side, still reviving from the shock. “My my look who’s talking.” Yae saw you softly hissing and trembling whilst trying to ground yourself from the electro power. Does she feel bad? A bit. Is she aroused? Oh hell yeah. Ah, maybe the heat season is getting into her.
“Come on now, pull yourself together, let’s get you more familiar with your new home.” She dragged you along back to the nest, you keep squirmed against her. “That’s not how you act around your mate you know?”. When she puts you back in the nest, you start biting the pillows and the sheets, showing her your aggression. Yae just chuckled “Well,i can always teach you how to make a proper nest for our little ones.”
. Both of you kitsunes are now full of hormones, and each of you trying to dominate one another. Of course a 500 years old Kitsune would be stronger than you a mere two-tailed fox. But you wouldn’t go down without a fight. Your fighting instinct is way higher than your maternal one.
Don’t worry, she will teach you how to be obedient in no time.
Lumine
Locking up, gaslighting if u squint
It’s all started from Paimon screaming help to Lumine. “WAAAHHH TRAVELLER!!” She turned her head around to see you pouncing Paimon who just float higher and higher. “WHAT HAS GOTTEN INTO YOU??Traveller!Paimon was just trying to greet them but they started chasing Paimon!!”
Lumine first tried to talk to you. Her hand waving around and snapping her fingers. At that you turned your attention to her, your tails wagged and you immediately pounced her. Seeing Lumine getting smacked down Paimon floats lower to assist her only for you trying to have a go at her again. Paimon’s cry only ended when you ran to pounce a passerby, thankfully Lumine was there to get you.
You were in Lumine’s teapot, dragged by her after you start growling to anything that moves. She whipped you around to ask and she could see your pupil slitted akin to a predator. Your weird aggressive behavior was explained by yourself after you ‘calmed down’. More like when Lumine had to trap you in one of her rooms and you finished your ‘tantrum’
Lumine had to take out all animals from the teapot due to you constantly trying to pick fights. In addition, she asked anyone who has her Realm Dispatch to not visit. So she can pretend a domestic life with her kitsune.
Of course, she collects book along her journey. So, she spent a whole day to find out more about you reading through the books. She can’t let her darling friend suffering. She went as far as making a nest which basically look like adult crib with bunch of pillows and blankets.
But no no no, instead of being grateful, you always wanted to go outside the teapot and trying to pounce anyone. Being pounced by you is her dream truly, but why do you still want to go out? She has everything in her teapot-no..it’s now you guys’ shared teapot. You live there now.
Everytime you asked to be let out, Lumine will pull out “But isn’t here nice?i did all this for you, can’t you at least stay for one more night? I will let you take a walk outside in the morning.” Oh isn’t Lumine being a good provider? Sure she might twist her words just to get you stay, sure she might have hidden your realm dispatch somewhere, yes sure she might lock the door once you inside, but it’s because the book says that during your season you need a mate as company.
She gladly be the one for you.
You are quite docile most of the time, since you let all your rage energy in the practice camp Lumine had set up in her teapot. You will went out in the morning and had to be dragged back to bed by Lumine, even then you will throw tantrum and thrash around. Oh how she loves to see that side of you in bed
Oh this golden traveller never complain, she will never complain if it is you. You are her feisty fox just need some discipline.
Until..She saw you standing before her, tails swishing all over the place, your ears flat on top of your head . Aggression, annoyance, defiant..
“This is stupid!Lumine!I wanna go out!” You scowled at her. It’s been weeks since she kept you here. Although she provided you everything, it’s not satisfying enough for your wild behaviour. You are a wild and free kitsune, you always been, spending your rut/heat tied up like this is not your thing. You reached out your hand and make grabby motion “Realm Dispatch!Let me out!” You grew more irritated when she just go back to cooking.
“This is insane! You promised me to take me a walk outside!” Lumine just scoffed “I didn’t say outside teapot. It’s just your rut/heat speaking, come sit, you need to eat for energy.” You growled “If you don’t let me out, i will ask Tubby to let me o-“
//Thump//
A knife swoop past you and stuck to the wall behind you. “Isn’t that not a nice thing to say to someone who is holding a kitchen knife?” Your gaze focused on the blonde in front of you, claws ready to attack. But when you jumped to pounce her, you fell.
Ah, how convinient the knife she threw towards you somehow lodged itself through your clothes and to the wall. You tried to pull your outfit but 2 feet already on each side of you.
Oh truly how patient Lumine has been. Your scratches on her, bitemarks, and pounces she took from your suppose-horny mind. Oh she never complain one bit, truly never.
But everyone has their own limit right?
She is going to make sure you paid back the scratches you have put on her.
Yelan
Bonus bc i love her, leash(?), slight petplay
She knows. Oh she knows. A bit surprised you are not all over her asking to be fucked but seeing you fucking up everything that moves entertain her.
Cheeky bastard, she will use her hydro power to always make u on leash. Hell, you maybe wake up to a blue collar attached to your neck.
She will literally pull you by the leash if you run away from her to pounce at something. Though you are good in hunting Fatui down. She likes ‘walk’ you like a pet you are just to hunt Fatui.
Whenever you don’t see the blue line between your neck and her hand you just dashed off until u felt a hard tug on your neck and coughing on the ground. Invisible doesn’t mean it’s not there you know?
If she is in the mood of some loving she will tie you up using her hydro power to make sure you don’t try to claw her eyes out. She will spend the time by petting your ears and tails, trully a blessed time excluding your constant squirming and hissing.
Whenever she caught you staring dagger at her, with that beautiful predatory eyes of yours, which is hot, she always wishes how she gonna make those eyes roll back into your skull. But alas, you only take the aggression in your mating season.
Now she wondered how aggressive can you be in bed?

Adore You 4 (Yandere! Sugar Daddy! Mingi x Yandere! Yunho x Black! Reader)
Do you tell him? How do you tell him? How do you tell the man who took you off the streets, has you living in a luxurious penthouse, sends you on endless shopping trips, and is practically catering to you that his best friend is a psychopath and possibly a murderer. You bite your nails worried about how Mingi would take the news if you told him, on one hand its the truth and Mingi should know the truth...on the other hand Mingi could possibly know and kill you for speaking up. That's probably what happened to the other women the Yunho mentioned.
The clocks hands seemed to drag as every minute felt like a year, the anticipation of Mingi arriving home felt like you were at the top of a roller coaster ready to go down the hill. 1 minute, 2 minutes, 3 minutes....you were about to go insane. Finally the front door opened as Mingi walked in hanging his coat. You jumped rushing up to him ready to greet him. Mingi looked to you and smiled gently...weird. You've never seen Mingi smile at you so warmly before, the only other time you saw him smile was when you two watched the news of the perv being exposed. The warm smile made you temporarily forget your main purpose of approaching him. "Your excited to see me" Mingi commented as he walked to the kitchen, "I am?" you blush as Mingi grabbed two oranges, he peeled one and handed it to you before peeling the other and savoring each piece of fruit.
You nibble on the tangy fruit as the silence comforts you both. Mingi cleared his throat as he looked to you "I was told that my...ex wife came here" Mingi began, oh yeah....Sara. Yunho had completely taken over your mind you forgot that Sara had came. "She did...she wasn't all that happy to see me" you said picking at the orange. Mingi frowned, he didn't like that his past was popping up, he didn't like that you now knew he was once married, would the arrangement you two had be soured by this fact, will Sara run you away...no, over Mingi's dead body will you leave him. "Listen...Sara is...a previous affair, if she comes by again let me know and I will handle her" Mingi's eyes turned cold, it scared you. The sudden change in tone and the cold look in his eyes made you back off from your original plan to tell him about Yunho.
"Anyway, we're going to cook dinner together, think of it like bonding thing" Mingi informed you. Cooking...you never learned how to properly cook, you either took leftover food from the soup kitchen or steal small snacks from the convenience store. "I...I don't know how to cook" you tell Mingi. The business man looked to you for a moment before nodding "It's ok Yunho's joining us so he'll help me out" your blood ran cold, Yunho's coming.
7pm would roll around as Yunho happily entered Mingi's penthouse, Yunho loved cooking with Mingi, it was a special bonding time for the two, it would remind Yunho of when they first met in high school. Yunho would see Mingi eating alone due to his asshole friends abandoning him their reason to leave was for Mingi eating slow, Yunho would join him for lunch from then on and those assholes leaving Mingi by himself suddenly disappeared. Yunho entered the penthouse holding a bottle of fancy wine. Clattering could be heard from the kitchen, Yunho giddily skipped to the area where he saw Mingi gathering pots and pans and you sitting on the counter watching him. Yunho’s mood slightly soured, he thought you would have gotten the idea to stay out of his way when he came over, guess you were more stubborn than Yunho thought.
“Yunho put the wine in the fridge and help me” Mingi called out. Yunho fixed his face and did as so “so what’s the plan tonight?” Yunho asked, Mingi pulled out ingredients “I thought about either kimchi fried rice or bulgogi” Mingi explained, Mingi looked to you “what do you want” you looked to the counter afraid to make eye contact with yunho or Mingi “um…how about kimchi fried rice” you said softly. Mingi took notice to your behavior change, “if you’re embarrassed about not knowing to cook it’s ok” Mingi smiled softly, the older man walked around to you grabbing your hand, Mingi guided you to the counter “here take out the kimchi and cut it in chunks” Mingi stood behind you as he grabbed a knife and guided you on how to cut the kimchi.
Jealousy bubbled in Yunho as he watched you two, how pathetic of you to pretend you don’t know how to cook to get Mingi to coddle you. Yunho prepped the rice as he watched you carefully cut the kimchi by yourself as Mingi cut up the green onion and garlic. “So… (Y/N), how’s life been since Mingi took you in” Yunho asked. You kept quiet for a moment wanting to choose your words carefully who know how Yunho will react. “It’s different, I didn’t have a lot of money before so I feel weird” you said quietly, Yunho hummed “so what did you do before meeting Mingi” you froze as did Mingi. Yunho tried to hide a smirk, the both of you were hiding something.
“I um…” you tried to think, “she’s a college student” Mingi blurted. Mingi wasn’t an idiot he knew if anyone were to find out that you were just some homeless women he picked off the street he’d be a social laughing stock. “Oh what do you study” Yunho asked. You look to Mingi who only nodded towards Yunho “n-nursing” you stammer out. Yunho refrained from rolling his eyes, nursing a typical answer, it’s easy to act as if you’re a nursing student given their busy and hectic schedule.
Yunho only hummed and continued to prepare the food, both you and Mingi let out a sigh of relief. The cooking would go by quietly as everyone was stuck in their own minds. Finally the food was ready, the three of you sat and ate the meal. “So Mingi, it’s almost time for our annual trip, do you have an idea on where you want to go?” Yunho said the smugness hidden in his voice. “Oh, I forgot…well we’ve been everywhere even visited some places twice…y/n where would you like to visit” Yunho could nearly break his chopsticks the way he gripped them in anger at the mention of you joining the trip. You look to Mingi and think, you’ve never been outside of Korea, you don’t know what the world is like, is it as cruel where you already are, or is it different being the arm candy of a wealthy man.
“Mingi she’ll probably be too busy with her school work to go on a trip” Yunho smiled his teeth feeling as though they may break with how hard he’s clenching them. “She can make up her work” Mingi said, Mingi was touched Yunho cared so much about your education however he felt bad lying to his best friend. “Now y/n where would like to go” Mingi asked again. You tried not to look at the glaring Yunho “uh, p-paris?” You say more as a question than an actual statement. Mingi smiled “Paris is perfect, you loved it when we visited right Yunho” Mingi looked to his best friend. Yunho forced a smile “ I did, it was such a great time for us” Yunho emphasized on the word us. “Then that’s where we’ll go!” Mingi beamed happy his two favorite people were going on a trip. Meanwhile both you and Yunho began to dread the upcoming trip with one another. One was for certain, only one of you would make it back alive.

Another Generic Slasher (Yandere Slasher x Reader)
Don't mind me, accidentally deleting this story and having to repost it. It was my first attempt at writing gore, so nothing too egregious in here.
CW: Graphic Death Scenes, Character Death, Violence (A Little Against Reader), Gore, Yandere, Swearing, Reader is referred to as “handsome” but not in reference to a gender, Dead Dove, Not Proofread
Minors DNI
Life was far away, and you hoped it wouldn’t catch up to you anytime soon. So, you thought, as you arrived at the summer getaway you and your friends had planned. When the car stopped, everyone jumped out and, perhaps inspired by their own anticipation, began unpacking without missing a beat.
“Ah, let me help you with that, Ms. Browning.” Jake said, already grabbing some of the boxes that Ms. Browning had brought with her.
“Why thank you, how reliable. What a good kid.” She hummed, pleased. Ms. Browning was the lady who owned the lovely house out in the wood that you and your friends had rented for vacation. She wore her red hair in a tight bun, and donned black, thick glasses.
“No problem. Ms. Browning.” Jake smiled. That sap was always offering to help people out, so he no doubt meant it. He had never minded a bit of hard work even on his days off. You, however, were happy to leave him to do the heavy lifting.
You had come here with three of your buddies to get away from the city and enjoy your time-off with some extra flair. Jake had suggested it back when you helped him dye the tips of his brown hair a lighter shade.
You had jumped at the idea, and begun calling up the others, so much that you had forgotten about the dye for a moment, leaving Jake’s tips white, which you had insisted contrasted well with his brown hair and dark skin (though he continued pouting, not entirely convinced).
Someone gently tapped your shoulder. Looking over a bespeckled, freckled visage greeted you, as she waited patiently for you to give the go-ahead to talk. “What up, Aisha?”
She hesitated for a moment. “…Is there anything I can help with?”
You had the feeling that wasn’t what she had been wanting to say, but didn’t want to push her, so instead, you simply nodded with a grin. “Yeah, for starters, you could bring your luggage inside?”
“Right. Of course.”
You furrowed your eyebrows, a little worried for her. Your attention was called elsewhere when Sara, the finale member of the group, yelled out, her voice echoing in the forest. “Jake let’s race to see who gets their box inside first. Loser has to make dinner tonight.”
Sara emerged from the hood of Ms. Browning’s car, with two boxes stacked in her arms. Which seemed impressive, had you not seen a pillow peeking through one of the boxes. The only disadvantage was the lack of visibility, but given Sara’s buzz cut versus Jake’s long bangs, it didn’t count for much.
“You wanna race in that long dress?” Jake asked dubiously.
“Scared?” Sara smiled that crooked smile she always did when she got competitive, and Jake rolled his eyes, despite eagerly getting in position. Those dorks.
“I’ll do the countdown.” You offered. “On now. 3. 2. 1.” You kept them waiting in suspense for a moment before shouting. “NOW!”
They both kicked off and… “I won.” Aisha’s voice rang out, and there she stood with a small box in the doorway, with a little smile on her lips.
“Whaaat?” Jake exclaimed. Sara shook her head in disapproval.
“Judge, I call foul. Aisha was already by the porch.”
“We never agreed to a starting line.” You pointed out, having seen Aisha moving toward the porch mischievously while you did your countdown.
“The judge and Aisha are clearly cooperating. Outrageous.” Then, Sara smiled a cat-like smile. “Then, we’ll just have to make sure the judge comes in last place, right Jake?”
“Huh.” You said, but by the time you processed the words, they had already taken off. “Hey now!” You ran after them, but predictably lost.
“Lookin’ forward to tonight’s meal.” Jake said, looking mighty satisfied with himself. You shook your fist at them playfully.
“The energy of youth really isn’t to be overestimated.” Ms. Browning laughed, entering the house with the last of her boxes.
“Youth? Tell that to my lower back, please.” You sighed, earning an eye roll from Jake who had been subjected to that specific complaint the most, as your go-to carrier.
“At my age, anyone under forty seems young.” Ms. Browning placed her box on the table and clapped her hands satisfied. “There, that was all of it. Again, thank you for helping me carry the boxes, that’s no trivial thing. It’s been years since I’ve rented this place out, so I thought I’d replace a couple of things.”
“It was no problem, Ms. Browning, you let us stove our stuff in the car too after all. And we’re just excited to vacation somewhere so beautiful.”
“That’s true. Beautiful places seems to make the spirit brighter, don’t they? It’s like I always say, trivial is as trivial does, and ugly things are trivial.”
…
Exchanging looks, none of you knew how to respond to that, to your luck, Ms. Browning simply continued on, allowing all of you to push past it as well.
You began zoning out of the conversation, your eyes idly looking at the interior. When your eyes flew past the open door, you thought your heart would stop for a moment. You could have sworn that, for just a second, you saw a man, an impossibly tall, large man. But after blinking, he was gone.
You relaxed, certain it had probably just been your mind playing tricks on you, and that it had merely been a tree.
Sara and Jake was busy discussing who had actually been the fastest runner between the two of them, so much so that most of Ms. Browning’s introduction to the place went on deaf ears, as she prattled on about the privacy and view. Something about how it was one out of only ten buildings in the entire forest.
As you looked over the place, your eyes drifted over a dresser there seemed a little too far from the wall. Something about it piqued your curiosity, though you weren’t sure what it was, but approaching it you were awarded for said curiosity with the discovery of uneven, barely eligible letters scratched into the wall.
“Trevel?” you read out loud. Jake, who was losing the argument against Sara, eagerly joined to see what you had found, none of you noticing the way Ms. Browning shifted uncomfortably.
“It’s a name, dear.”
“A name? I’ve never heard it before.”
“Well, that makes sense. It’s an ugly name, fit for ugly boys.” You were caught off guard by the harshness of her words. Then she smiled at you and Jake. “And trivial is as trivial does, and ugly boys are trivial. Something like that would be out-of-place with such handsome kids.”
You were distracted by a loud noise outside before you could reply. A look outside revealed the neatly stacked firewood having collapsed, and by the time you looked away, Ms. Browning had already moved on from the conversation.
Before leaving us to ourselves, Ms. Browning diligently gave us a run-down over where everything was, from the firewood outside by the woodchipper, which we were allowed to make use of for fires, to the rooms, even considerately telling how far away the nearest doctors, police, and firefighters were, most being quite far with the exception of a small, local police station, so small it couldn’t even be considered small-town cops but rather forest rangers.
With our ride gone, we began packing out and taking inventory, in case something was missing, and we’d need to call a taxi for shopping. By the time all the boxes had been sorted through for the most crucial stuff, it had begun to grow darker outside.
“Man, I’m starving.” Sara grumbled.
”We could tell by the fact you only unpacked the food.”
Sara playfully stuck her tongue out at you, but even with that rude display, you obediently began collecting ingredients. Jake looked over your shoulder.
“Yellow onions are better for stews.” He commented, as he threw one of the red onions from hand to hand.
“And the red one carries more whimsy.”
“I can carry that whimsy to the pantry and get some yellow onions instead.”
That was promptly rejected. As he examined your other chosen vegetables, you got out a cutting board.
“Not gonna handle the meat first?” he asked.
You sighed. “What happened to ‘loser cooks’ that you forced me into?” you asked with a hand on your hip. Jake conceded and stepped back. The others had begun getting out the new plates that Ms. Browning had brought along.
“Remind me again, why exactly are you getting plates out already? We haven’t even begun the fire, I’m only at the prep-part?”
“Explain why you began the prep-work before the fire-“ they were interrupted by a loud crash. A plate had slipped out of Aisha’s hands, and now laid shattered on the floor. Aisha stood frozen, her eyes wide.
“I… I’ll clean it up..” She said, her tone sounding a little off.
“I think Ms. Browning mentioned that there’s a broom closet in the hallway.” Sara said, before Aisha even left, you got distracted by Jake crowding you again. By the third interjection (or advice, as he called), you put down the peeler you had used for the carrots.
“Ugh, Jake, you clearly want to do the cooking.” You said. Jake opened his mouth but seemed to think better of it and decided not to protest your words. You sighed. “You and Sara are way too competitive; you’ll even fight for a loss. I’ll go get some firewood for the fire; you get cooking duty.”
“Deal!”
You walked outside, hoping that the firewood wasn’t too damp, as you really didn’t want to cut new firewood, even if there was an axe available. These contemplations were lost as you found Aisha sitting on the porch.
“Trouble finding the broom?” You asked lightly, making Aisha jump a little, startled.
“Just needed a bit of fresh air.” She said, this time you took notice of her tone. She seemed downcast but you couldn’t quite place your finger on it. Not quite sad but definitely not happy either.
“Hey man,” you scratched your neck awkwardly. This stuff weren’t your strong suit. “don’t sweat the plate. We’ll just get Ms. Browning a new one.”
Aisha hummed in agreement, still looking at the sky. Your eyes flickered between her and the sky, trying to think of something more to say. “Uh, you know, I mistook a tree for a person, like some kind of horror movie. Which, well,” you trailed off. “What I’m trying to say, it’s more embarrassing than the plate-thing, so don’t worry about it.”
Aisha smiled at that. Whether it was your words or your clumsy attempt that made her smile, you weren’t sure. Aisha sighed, “Sometimes I wish it was a horror movie.”
She looked at you with a surprised expression, as if she hadn’t expected herself to say that either. “I don’t want to be in a horror movie, of course. Not actually. It’s just nice sometimes to imagine.”
“Escaping the jaws of death?”
Aisha was silent for a bit, as if contemplating whether to say her next words. “No. In the horror movie I meet my end. It’s not dragged out, maybe I’m one of the first ones to go. In either case, by the end of the movie, I’m dead, and when the credits are playing, they forget my name. But that’s just running away.” She looked at you and then at the ground. “I’m sorry, that’s a lot to hear.”
It was. You weren’t sure what to respond but you could see Aisha was suffering, you didn’t like seeing that at all. “You’re away from everything right now, aren’t you?”
“Yeah, I am. And I really want to enjoy this, I do. I really do. But I didn’t come here to enjoy myself, I came here to run away, somehow I can’t bring myself to relax at all. I’m sorry.”
…You scooted closer to her. “You’re out here talking with me though, that’s not running away.” Even being able to share something, however small, was still something. You thought for a moment, trying to find the right words:
“Listen, you’re… good.” You’re good? It didn’t get any clumsier than that. “Er, I guess that’s not really what you wanted to hear-“Aisha laughed, the sound comforted you.
“No, no. that’s exactly what I wanted to hear.”
“Really? Uh,” Gotta keep up this momentum somehow. “Maybe we’ll go on a trip together again, next year. It’ll be like running away from running away. No, wait, that doesn’t make sense.”
“Pfft, you’re so bad at this.” Aisha laughed, this time her laugh felt a little more genuine and unrestrained. “How am I supposed to feel melancholic with that kind of cheering up? Let’s definitely go on a trip next year. And…Thanks for coming out here and talking with me.”
She stood up, and the air felt a little lighter around her.
“Well, I should get some firewood going.” You said, begrudgingly, and stood up as well. Only for the both of you to be distracted by rustling from the trees and bushes. You blinked. You were from the city, so you weren’t used to a place with wildlife, and while you could hear the sound of birds and insects nonstop as a reminder of their existence, other types of wildlife had been forgotten by you.
You felt as if something watched you from the trees, meaning the animal probably still was there. You crouched and held out your hands, in what you hoped was a disarming gesture.
“Hey,” you said gently, “Sorry did we frighten you? It’s okay, yeah?” Your hushed words seemed to cause a stop in the rustling before the animal decided to outright leave. Your attempts to soothe apparently left a lot to be desired.
You sighed, only to be faced with Aisha staring at you in disbelief. You looked at her questioning.
“Why are you trying to befriend a wild animal? You know there’s coyotes in some parts of the forest, right?” at that you just rolled your eyes.
“Not this part of the forest, else Ms. Browning wouldn’t be renting out a vacation home.”
“Seriously…” Aisha didn’t seem any less exasperated by you. “I’ll help gather the firework, since if a beast attacked you, you might try to talk to it.”
While you didn’t appreciate her claim, you did appreciate the company and additional helping hands, the broom long forgotten. Especially once you arrived at the scattered firewood. While a pain to fix back into a neat stack, it was a relief to feel how dry and crisp the wood was, as if newly cut.
This meant the axe leaning against the woodchipper, would need no use.
“Can you grab the basket?” Aisha asked after having selected the, in her opinion, finest firewood. You looked around but couldn’t find any. “Hm… Maybe we can carry it ourselves?”
At that, the both of you took one look at the firewood you had picked to last throughout the entire night and decided against it. “I’ll go grab something to carry with.” You volunteered.
You slipped inside, your presence going unnoticed by Jake who was too absorbed with cooking and Sara who was busy crying over newly cut onions. Basket, basket, basket… Satisfied you managed to find one in the living room, by the fireplace, which in hindsight felt a little obvious.
You looked out of the window, rolling your eyes playfully after spotting the way Aisha was sneakily rearranging your half of the pile. She had felt it wasn’t neat enough, while you had argued it would all be thrown into a basket either way.
A large figure emerged from the woods, and you froze. The impossibly tall frame, the one that had you convinced it had to have been a tree, there was no way you wouldn’t recognize that. The figure was huge, in every sense of the word, a bulking presence, enveloped by a long jacket.
He turned his head towards the window, and you duck, panicked. But you swore you had seen nothing but white for a moment. You barged into the kitchen once more, catching the attention of Jake and Sara, but any jokes about your explosive entrance died out when they saw your expression.
“What’s wrong?”
“I saw a stranger outside.” You swallowed. “I have a bad feeling about this, he’s-“ Dangerous. You could feel it, if not feel it, you could certainly tell he was capable of being dangerous from his build alone.
“Where’s Aisha?” Sara asked concerned, seeing as she not only hadn’t returned earlier, but wasn’t with you. You confirmed her fears.
“Outside.” You heard a mumbled “fuck”. You wanted to panic and swear as well, but you needed to do something. “Alright, you two, call the police. And I’ll get Aisha back inside.”
“What about the guy?”
“I- he didn’t attack or anything. If I keep acting like I don’t know he’s there, Aisha might be able to get inside. I just have to act natural.” You hoped you sounded confident and reassuring, but even if you didn’t, there wasn’t many other plans being thrown around, so all of you nodded, before you returned to the main entrance.
You opened the door askew, so you could see out but couldn’t be seen.
You needed to call Aisha inside but found yourself hesitating. The words struggling to make it past the lump in your throat. He hadn’t done anything yet, so if you acted like before, then maybe he’d do nothing, it was your best shot at least. Even so, you hands grew clammy as you thought to keep your voice from shaking.
“Hey Aisha!” you called out, watching her from the creek of the door. You worried that if she could see your face, then she’d be able to see your fear, barely concealed. “Could you come help find the basket?”
“Did you check by the fireplace; it might have one?”
“Uh, yeah, I did.”
“Maybe there isn’t one, then? Just come out and we’ll carry i-“
“No! Um, I’m sure, yes. Ms. Browning mentioned a basket at some point,” you interrupted hastily. Worry crept up that you had let panic color your voice in a far too obvious way. You swallowed. “It’ll drive me crazy if I just give up, please, just a quick look?” You pleaded.
“Alright, if it’s that big of a deal to you.” Aisha shrugged. You held your breath as she approached, only able to breathe once she was inside, no looming figure following as far as you could see. She opened her mouth, but you didn’t even let her form words before you spoke.
“Aisha, there’s someone outside.”
Maybe there was more delicate ways to share this fact. Ways that didn’t make her bemused expression shatter like that. But you didn’t have time to navigate that kind of delicacy. Aisha furrowed her brows, tentatively glancing at the door.
She looked back at you, as if hoping to find a trace of insincerity or joking but faltered as she found nothing of the sorts. Neither of you said anything else as you locked the door and joined the others in the living-room.
They had finished their call already and was standing back-to-back. You assumed it was to avoid getting snuck up on, though they were left with two blind sides.
Any words one might have ushered, choked in the tension, and instead all of you stood together silently, anxiously.
None of you knew how long time went before the cop arrived, though it couldn’t have been long. Even so, each moment felt like an eternity, as frazzled nerves turned every sound of the forest into a foreboding sign.
So, at the sound of wheels, all of you hurried to the door. A cop car that looked like something from a period piece, revealed what must have been a lackluster budget at the tiny station. Out of the car, a middle-aged man stepped out, using his hand to move his long hair aside.
“Hey kiddos.” He greeted them as he approached, stopping a little past the firewood. His voice had a condescending tone to it. “I’m Mr. Davidsons, so y’all say you saw a perp?”
“Well, we saw – or, well, they saw – a strange man walking around here.” Aisha explained, stumbling over her words. At this Mr. Davidson lifted an eyebrow, glancing at you briefly.
“Did anyone else actually see someone? Or was it just this one there?” He laughed, it was a somewhat unpleasant sound, grating in the way only an adult’s dismissive tone could be, doubly so given all of you were adults.
“Sir, I’d be happy if it was just me being paranoid but…” Your eyes darted around nervously scanning the area. You wondered if the car alone might have scared him off. “I saw a man. He looked really big and strong.”
Those words didn’t seem to do much in the way of convincing. “You guys city folks? Out here in the country, especially this lively piece of forest, there’s plenty of critters. You probably just saw an ugly bear.” He snorted.
Sara looked about ready to school him but all of you froze when he appeared. This time he didn’t simple stand or walk aimlessly around, he was heading straight towards them, though you couldn’t see his face clearly from his red hair and hunched posture, you spotted glimpses of a white mask.
Mr. Davidson noticed the way all of your attention had shifted, and following your eyes, he faced the hulking mass making his way towards them all.
“Sir, this is the police, stay where you are.” Mr. Davidson said. He was much more serious now that he realized there was someone. He was on guard, his hand ready to draw out his gun, you noticed the way his hand shook, and felt any sense of security vanish, as you watched the pale, sweaty cop attempt to talk down to what felt like a monster of a man.
Similarly, he didn’t seem very convinced by Mr. Davidson either, as he only made a grunting sound and continued his slow gait forward, stray pieces of firewood being kicked out of the way. “Sir, I’m serious. If you continue moving, I’ll consider it contempt of a police officer.”
But he only got closer. Mr. Davidson held out his gun when the man was within arm-reach. A proximity that left your guts churning. However, the man did stop, a fact that made Mr. Davidson breathe a sigh of relief, as the man spread out his arms. Perhaps it was the way it made him look bigger and emphasized the sheer size of his arm muscles and shoulders, but you felt more threatened by it, though Mr. Davidson just nodded in approval at what he perceived as a sign of submission.
And then an axe nestled into Mr. Davidson’s neck.
Someone shrieked, a shrill and piercing sound. Then you realized it was yourself. The man grabbed the axe’s handle, but instead of nestling it free, he forced it to slice through the rest of Mr. Davidson’s neck, freeing the axe.
Mr. Davidson’s head thumped to the ground, rolling slightly.
You felt a pull on your arm, flinching until you realized it was Jake pulling you the last few steps toward the door, before shutting it close, and locking.
“Oh my god, oh my god-“Aisha was breathlessly chanting, intercut with small “what the hell”, unable to provide anything more poignant. Sara, who had been no worse for wear, straightened up at this. She took Aisha’s hand, and though nothing else was said, Aisha seemed to be reeled back to her senses, enough to break up the broken chant.
“We don’t have time to waste.” You said, fishing out your phone. Your hand shook so badly that it took a few tries to unlock. “Call the police?” you asked, which Sara scoffed at.
“Right, that turned out great last time.”
“They didn’t take us seriously last time, but now we got a dead cop on our hands. Who else are we gonna call, the fire department?”
“Please just make the call, before he gets in.” Aisha requested, anxiously looking around, Sara relented with a nod. You only got halfway through dialing the police’s number before it was interrupted by a call, which you accidentally accepted.
“Shoot.”
“Well, hello to you too.” Ms. Browning responded drily.
“Ah, Ms. Browning. Sorry, this isn’t a good time. Actually, could you call the cops?” The less time they had to stay in one place, the better.
“The cops?”
“Yeah, there’s some crazy freak out here, Ms. Browning. He killed a cop!” Jake said panicked. “It’s some huge dude with a mask.”
“After all this time. He’s still…” Ms. Browning didn’t sound surprised, only forlorn.
“What does that mean? Did you… know about him?” At this, Ms. Browning laughed joylessly.
“I left him here in the woods, decades ago. Anyone else would have died. Ah, but not little Trevel. Instead, he grew.” She was quiet for a beat before continuing pensively, her voice distant, “These woods are… Unusual. Things don’t grow right here. Why, my little Trevel was my height by the time he turned five.”
“Trevel?”
“I wasn’t ready for a baby, you see. That’s why… I figured the next year, when I prepared this place for renters, it would be over, no corpse left, no baby left. Just life back to normal. But it wasn’t. He was still here.
He’d stare. Just following dumbly along, staring at everything I did. I couldn’t stand those inquisitive eyes, I didn’t ask for any of that, you know? When he was four, to avoid seeing those cursed eyes, I gave him a mask, told him never to take it off, and what would you know? Seems he grew up right along with the mask.”
“Grew up along the… Huh? Ms. Browning, we’re not following?”
“It couldn’t be taken off, as if it had grown into his face. I suppose it might have, what with his growth spurt and all.” Was all the clarification Ms. Browning gave, as she continued recounting, as if in a daze. “At first, I was… Startled. But you can get used to all manners of things, when the surprise settled, I was just relieved. The mask didn’t have a mouth, so, surely he’d starve to dead.” She lamented. “But no, oh no, not my little Trevel.” There was a bitter edge to her voice. “He was always a good-for-nothing kid, couldn’t even do something as trivial as die.”
Somehow, disgust was all you could feel for Ms. Browning.
“That’s… Horrible.” Aisha said quietly. All of you looked at each other for a moment. Evidently, Ms. Browning agreed to Aisha’s words, sighing deeply.
“So, it is. This was a mistake, returning here like this. I won’t make it again; this’ll be the last time this house is used.”
“You’ll call the cops, right Ms. Browning?”
“Some things are better kept hidden, kiddo. I’m truly sorry but… Goodbye.” And then she hung up. All of you stood in stunned silence for a bit. But you didn’t have time for stunned silence. You began dialing the police’s number again but stopped in your tracks at the sound of weight violently thrown at the door.
“Are you kidding me,” Sara whispered, “We wasted what little time we had on Ms. Browning?!”
As if to answer her question, you were blinded for a moment, as an axe nestled into the door. Then another hit. None of you waited till he was able to enter through the destroyed door, before running. You and Jake hid behind the dresser, while Sara, still holding Aisha’s hand, pulled them into the small pantry-room.
You looked once more at the clumsily written “Trevel” but didn’t have long to look at it before your focus was forced elsewhere, as Trevel himself emerged from the hall, with the sound of his axe dragging against the floor.
You held your breath, as thudding footsteps carried the guy through the room. Your close proximity allowed you to make out that the dirtied jacket enveloping his figure seemed to actually be multiple articles of clothing, sewn crudely together, or… Not sewn, that wasn’t quite right.
There were no stitches or strings to see, despite the clumsy, crude nature, rather, it looked as if the clothes had simply melted together. He turned around, allowing you a clear look at his face.
Or it would have, had his face been visible.
The white you had spotted earlier seemed to have been the mask, which covered his entire face. A white, round mask, decorated only by dirt. You couldn’t see where the mask ended, and his face began.
You felt your phone vibrate against your leg. Taking it out, carefully using your hand to cover the light of the screen, you saw a text from Sara.
Cop car still here. Sneak out.
Right, that’s right. It was still out there. You could drive away. You and Jake were close to the entrance, it was feasible that you’d be able to sneak out as long as Trevel didn’t turn around. The harder challenge was for Sara and Aisha, the pantry-room further into the room.
You shot a quick text back. Me and Jake will go when you reach the dresser.
Slowly, you saw Aisha and Sara emerge from the pantry. Carefully placing each step to avoid the creak of floorboards, trying to move whenever Trevel took another thundering step, to mask their own sounds. Trevel flipped the couch, and you flinched.
Sara and Aisha rounded a corner and reached the kitchen island, receiving a natural cover. Once they made it past the kitchen island, they’d almost be by the dresser. It would be doable to get away. Trevel turned around, and your heart sank as he got closer to the kitchen island.
You still had your phone in your hand, so you tossed it. When it hit the wall, it caught his attention, causing him to stop up and turn around. They just needed to wait, hopefully he’d walk towards the sound… Wait, what are they doing?
Sara tugged on Aisha’s hand, and they began sneaking away under Trevel’s inattentiveness, an arm reach away from him. Trevel lifted his foot, and you felt relief, he was going to investigate your bait. The relief was visible on Jake’s face as well, Sara had made it past the kitchen island, Aisha not far behind, and then…
A crass, clicking sound.
Aisha had stepped on the remains of a shattered plate.
A large hand shot out, grabbing Aisha’s face, forcing her glasses to shift awkwardly and press into her face. When he lifted his arm, you witnessed the way Aisha’s entire body were left to dangle helplessly in the air, forcibly separating her and Sara’s hands, and then… He tightened his grip.
The glasses bent and broke, glass and frames cutting into her skin, and her skin seemed to cave under his fingers, blood pooling around them as they sunk into flesh, white bones protruding through skin as if pushed away from their rightful spot.
Aisha’s whimpers and cries of pain were replaced by a painful gurgling as her nose caved into her mouth. After a while, her body stopped moving at all. And he simply let go of her, her limp body falling to the ground awkwardly.
It had all happened too fast for any of you to react, but the sound of her body hitting the floor brought you all to action, running as fast as you could. Though he pursued, it was a relief to know all of you were faster.
You swung the doors open once you reached the car, able to see Trevel’s silhouette move through the windows of the entrance. “What’s the hold up, Jake?”
At that question, Jake looked up at them. “There’s no key.”
What. If it wasn’t in the car, then that meant…
Instinctively all of you looked at Mr. Davidson’s headless corpse. And only a few meters behind, stood the hulking figure of Trevel, having reached the door.
“I’ll go get the keys.” Sara said, to which you and Jake shook your head furiously. “Please, back in the kitchen, I pulled Aisha too fast, and she… Let me do this, okay? I am the fastest, after all.” She said with a weak smile. You didn’t have the heart to point out the tears in her eyes.
Sara made a dash towards Mr. Davidson’s body, basically throwing herself at him. Trevel, similarly, made his way towards her. It was true that Sara was faster than him but that meant very little with such a small distance.
She fumbled through Mr. Davidson’s pockets, when he descended upon her. A sickening crunch as his foot crushed her ankle. Sara howled in pain. Then he moved further up, delivering a stomp to her back, pressing her against the corpse.
You could have sworn you saw the mushy flesh of Mr. Davidson give in, but maybe it was just your imagination adding to the wet, snapping sounds mixed with that same sickening crunch. Even so, she still desperately clawed at Mr. Davidson’s pockets.
You didn’t have time to react when he had gotten Aisha, but there was no way you’d just watch now.
You jumped out of the car, and though you didn’t look, you could hear the sound of Jake following along. Finding one of the larger wood pieces, you charged at him.
You swung the wood at him with all your might, but he barely seemed to notice, instead shoving you away like a pesky fly. You were flung to the side, and crashed into something hard and metallic, the sudden loud humming noises suggested it had been turned on.
You felt a sharp pain in your foot, having landed on it wrong, and struggled to stand up again, leaning against the machine, that turned out to be the woodchipper, for support.
Meanwhile, Sara had fished out the keys but with Trevel looming above her, reaching out, she didn’t wait for his next move. It wasn’t a meaningful act of defiance or defense, but an act of someone too close to the jaws of a predator to escape, but close enough to rip and tear. Sara flew towards Trevel, grabbing onto the edges of his mask.
Trying to tear the mask off. You didn’t know what had gone through Sara’s head as her fingers to the corner of face – and you assumed, the mask – you only knew that she gasped and let go as if on instinct. “But… It’s a mask?” she feebly whispered, confusion on her face.
Though Sara had lost her grip, there was no chance of falling as Trevel held onto her, drawing her closer. Sara struggled but was rendered immobile by the tight grip. Even from the sidelines, it was easy to see the way the grip tightened, to hear the sound of metal bending as Sara’s accessories caved under the pressure, the way her breathing grew ragged and wheezing, hear the sounds of bones and joints snapping.
You had managed to get up but was struggling to keep balance, that wasn’t the case for Jake who was ready to rush at them. Sara, through ragged, bloody breaths, yelled for him to stop, forcing her awkwardly bending arm to shoot out, throwing him the keys.
Jake looked between Sara, who had taken to wildly flailing, punching, clawing, till her fingers were left bloody, and you. He stood there for a second before, with a conflicted expression, running to you, Neither of you looked as Sara’s pained sounds turned to gurgles, or when she stopped making sounds altogether, instead Jake dragged you to the car.
” We’ve been outrunning that freak the entire night, so…” He swallowed and steadied his breath before continuing, trying to be strong, as if he wasn’t as shaken up as you were. “If we just make it to the car, everything will be okay. If we can outrun him on legs, then we can outrun him on wheels.”
Even as you heard Sara’s body being dropped, Jake didn’t let go of you, making sure you got into the car. He didn’t even circle around the car, simply crawled over you, and into the driver’s seat. He put in the keys. You could see Trevel’s bloodied mask, the remnant of Sara’s vomit.
The engine coughed. Jake hit his hand against the steering wheel. And then, the car started. You laughed, not out of joy but from the adrenaline pumped relief. The car moved backwards, Trevel’s charging figure growing smaller.
“Fuck yeah!” Jake hollered out. “An old, stubborn car but you got the job done, hah!”
None of you mentioned Sara. None of you could bear to. Not yet.
“Jake, we’re going to have to turn around.” You said, looking behind at the countless sturdy trees. It was a narrow, winding road. They wouldn’t be able to do it backwards. Jake cursed under his breath.
“It’s okay. I don’t need to drive all the way back to the house to have enough room, just a bit closer.” He said reassuringly, you weren’t sure who he was trying to reassure. The dull, warm pain in your foot only seemed to grow.
Jake drive forward but before the house even came back into view, from the shadow-covered bushes, a large figure emerged, only meters away. You weren’t sure if Jake intentionally rammed into him or weren’t able to stop the car in time, but the hood of the car hit the figure with a loud thud.
And he hadn’t budged. You could vaguely make out a huge dent in the now-still car, and the small, sad stutters the car made from the impact. The large figure reached behind his back, but his body remained completely still, fixated on them.
Jake’s hands were shivering; “Jesus chr-“
“No time for prayers.” You interrupted, shifting in your seat to grab the reverse gear and stump on the brake pedal, pain shooting up your leg, the car moved backwards in a sudden jolt. Trevel held up his axe. He lifted it into the air, and as the car began to move away, he swung it into the hood.
The car were making concerning wheezing noises but by now, Jake’s adrenaline had returned to spur him into action, and he forced the car to continue. To your shared horror, the car didn’t budge. The wheels spinning helplessly as the car was kept in place.
Then he pulled the axe closer, dragging the car closer with a screech. You and Jake didn’t even exchange glances as you both flung your respective car doors open, jumping out. Jake couldn’t make it over to you, without Trevel who stood in front of the car, making it to you, so you both ran on your own, even as your foot ached and bent oddly, a searing fire spreading.
But you noticed, Jake hadn’t run away from Trevel and the house, but towards the house. It was a long travel to make it to any actual road and it was getting very dark, was that why? But even so, Jake had a phone on him, still – unlike you.
You didn’t know why he hadn’t run that way, but you changed your own course, rushing to him. You couldn’t be separated now. Not after Aisha and Sara. Jake, disorientated from the crash, was losing his speed advantage, the distances between the two far too little for comfort, as Jake had reached the firewood pile.
You made eye contact with Jake, whose eyes widened. “What are you doing? Run away, I’m buying time!”
So that was why. He had just hoped you wouldn’t notice in time. But the moment of distraction meant Trevel, who was steadily becoming the fastest of the two, caught up to him. He grabbed onto him, and you half-expected him to crush him like he had Aisha and Sara, instead, he shoved Jake against the woodchipper.
As Jake’s arm and shoulder disappeared into the machine, his face twisted into a pained grimace, and a red mist of blood, minced meat, and viscera descended from the machine with splintered bone shards like macabre snowflakes. You didn’t even think as you continued running, you should have had half-the-mind to at least curse yourself out for wasting the sacred seconds he had sacrificed.
Yet all you could think was you needed to get him out. Only as his face were pressed against the machine, did you stop up. You felt your stomach churning as the metallic smell coated the air. Trevel seemed to spend a moment just looking at the shredded innards and minced remains of Jake.
Then he flexed his finger around his axe and turned towards you. So, you ran.
But you had gotten too close, so running in the opposite direction of him meant running towards the house. Going past the house would mean venturing further into the forest, further away from any civilization. You didn’t fancy your chances with coyotes, and you didn’t fancy your chances with Trevel.
Maybe that instinctive desire to escape to something civil made you run into the house to hide, you’d like to think it was a strategic choice, somehow. But you knew that wasn’t the case, you just sought the familiarity.
Inside the house, you dashed upstairs, worried he’d be able to break down a wall or window in any room downstairs. You could hear him by the time you closed the door, and for a second debated if it was best to be silent and hide, but then again, you didn’t have many hiding places in this room.
What you did have was a dresser. So, knowing how it would lead him upstairs, you desperately pushed the dresser in front of the door. Then the bed. Anything you could get hold of in the room was pushed in front of the door.
And then you scurried to the other end of the room, trying to ignore the fiery burn of your foot. You heard his approach but still jumped when the axe cut into the wooden door. Your breath grew ragged, as his masked face showed through the cracks.
You didn’t know what you had hoped for from this barricade. It wasn’t a surprise that filled you, when the furniture moved along as he shoved the door. Even so, the world seemed to blur out the second he stepped into the room, from ruined and moved furniture that now seemed more a barricade for you than him.
Your heartbeat rang out, thump thump. He was closing in with heavy footsteps. Thump, thud, thump, thud. Even with the mask, you felt his eyes on you. Thump, thud, thump, thud. You could see his fingers flex around the axe.
Grasping at straws, you shifted between staring at him and around you, for anything you could use. Behind him, a now ruined dresser stood. Its familiar look made you realize it was identical to the one downstair. “It’s an ugly name, fit for ugly boys.”
…It was worth a shot, right?
“My,” your voice were shaky, “What a handsome guy you are.”
Was that how she said it? He stopped dead in his tracks. He was so close; you could touch him if you reached out. The air felt crushing, under the weight of silence. Then, he crouched down. Your shivers stopped, frozen.
He leaned closer. His free hand on the floor to support his weight as he leaned closer. Your eyes flickered to the axe. He was still holding it.
“I,” your voice cracked but you forced yourself to continue, “I didn’t get a good look before. But, really, you are handsome. Big and strong.”
He was close. You could smell the lingering scent of sweat and pine. Hear the deep rumbling hum he made. Feel his warmth breath. From where it came, you weren’t sure.
God, what else? What else did Mr. Browning say?
Suddenly, a hand reached out and you flinched. He had let go of the axe. And yet, you had seen what he could do with his hands. Your breath were stuck in your throat, as you braced yourself. But his hand only lingered near your cheek.
Not quite touching, but close enough for you to feel the warmth of his fingertips. This… Was a good sign, right? He was hesitating, he didn’t do that with the others. He didn’t do that with Aisha. The anxiety buzzing didn’t ease, the gory memory playing relentlessly in your head.
In your mind you envisioned the way his hand could still decide to grab onto you harshly. So, gently with fingers that shook far too much, you touched his hand. His head made a sharp movement, causing you to flinch, but he didn’t stop you.
So, you lead his rugged, scarred hand closer to your cheek, closing the small gap. His fingers stiffly on your cheek, which was better than lingering above your face. Like playing dolls, you hoped positioning him into a less hostile position would have any effect.
You looked at each other for a while in deafening silence. You were worried about losing the temporary fascination, the stiffness of his body warning you that you weren’t quite safe yet. What is it that worked so far? What does he want to hear?
…
“You’re good, Trevel. You’re good.”
For a moment, he didn’t respond or react. Then the touch seemed to melt, his finger brushing against your cheek. Not pleasant or even soft, but you could tell he was trying, or maybe he was just exploring? You didn’t dare to move, worried you’d set him off.
By the time his hand dropped down, light had begun to filter through the tree leaves, and exhaustion clinging to you. Trevel seemed placated, simply staring wordlessly at you.
Cautiously, you stood up. You could feel the way he followed your every movement. But it felt like a curious gaze, like a dog equally confused and curious about its owner’s actions. You weren’t sure if he’d be okay with you leaving, but if you could buy yourself some time, perhaps you’d be able to get to a road and hitchhike.
“I’ll just go fetch something, if that’s okay?” You asked carefully, taking a demonstrative step towards the door.
Swish
Past your head, the axe flew, nestling into the door. Before you even could look back at him, he grabbed your wrist and tugged you toward the floor, a little too harshly for your injured foot, where he returned to simply stare at you, growling whenever you moved too much.
Life was far away, and by god, you hoped it would someday catch up to you again.

Oracle!Reader Part 5
Masterlist - Part 1, Part 4, Part 6
Warning, I guess? Like I said last part, my AU has death and voilence. This one also has frisky(?) moment, no full NSFW
You aren't quite sure how long you have been sitting on this bench. The cats you were watching have already grown tired and were lazing around. The smoke smell was still faintly in the air and the sky was the same blue as before.
Couldn't have been more than 10 minutes then.
You should get up and leave. But to go back to the main area is to back into the fray. And you really didn't want to do that. With a heavy heart, you got up and stretched.
A loud crash and bang from around the corner startled you. You peer curiously in the direction and a pained groan is all you can hear. You walk over and see opened crates on the floor with fireworks rolling out of them.
Carefully you step around the fireworks to get to the heart of the problem. Yoimiya was on the floor with crates scattered around and a bell near her. The usually peppy blonde was clutching her head with a pained expression.
"Did you just get hit by that bell?" You say with a smile. You struggle not to laugh as you hold your hand out to her.
"Unfortunately, I did. Ugh, that really hurts." She takes your hand and slightly jolts from the electricity that your skin brings. You notice her action but don't put much thought into it, you pull her up.
"If we don't pick up all your fireworks fast, we'll probably lose some." Yoimiya smiles brightly completely forgetting her lost battle with the bell.
"You would help me? That's great to hear, I'd be looking all over Inazuma City for them without you!"
You start picking them up with her as you leisurely talked with her. Truthfully you offered more for yourself, as selfish as it sounds you just wanted a distraction.
The nearly mind-numbing or annoying task, depending on how far they rolled was easier with the chatty woman. Yoimiya knew how to talk to people, truly an extrovert with great social skills.
"That should be all of the fireworks. At least none of the boxes broke." You close the last crate and wipe the sweat from your brow.
"All thanks to you. I wasn't expecting anyone to be around since the ritual was in session. It should be finishing up though." She has an excited smile as she speaks and picks on two crates at a time.
Eager to change the subject you grab the last box and are about to pick it up. "No wonder you dropped it, carrying three crates would be too much-ugh. Damn, how much do these things weigh?"
You hurriedly position the crate in your arms to a more comfortable position as your grip tightens. You weren't weak but these things were absurdly heavy. You glance at her holding two of these monsters. She's not fazed in the slightest by the weight.
"The weight isn't too much of a problem, but the size was my oversight. I couldn't see while holding all 3 boxes and hit that bell. Thank you for carrying that one. Just follow me, we aren't too far from the drop-off location."
You inwardly sigh at now being stuck with the weight. But... You glance at the Yae Publishing House. Better than being stuck with Yae. You follow Yoimiya as you get closer and closer to the main area.
"Have you heard the rumors?"
"What rumors?"
"About there being an oracle! Really, it's only spread among the kids. They keep telling me that an oni, his name is Itto, keeps telling them about how he met the creator's oracle."
So, it's already starting. At least it's staying between the children right now, by the time Yae hears about it and connects the dots you'll be gone.
"Maybe it's true. You'll need to meet that oracle for yourself to be sure." You shrug and bump her shoulder. Playfully she bumps you back.
"I would love to meet them! Believing in fantastical things is a lot of fun. And if it turns out that they're a fake then I'll light them ablaze." You were suddenly reminded of Itto by how she spoke such vicious words with a bright smile.
"What if they prove that they are an oracle? What would you do then?"
"Ask if there is anything I can do to be awakened! I traveled to Sumeru with the traveler, and it was the closest thing to being awakened. Awakened acolytes can see all sorts of sights and stories."
The sparkle in her eyes was full of joy, no doubt imagining what it would be like for her wish to come true. The thought of your very low primogem count made you want to cry. 'Sorry Yoimiya, I don't think anyone is getting pulled at this time.'
Arriving back at the ritual area you can see the dead bodies being moved away and the blood being cleaned. You doubt they'd be able to clean up all the ashes today.
"Such a shame I missed out on it. But I would rather supply my fireworks for the finale festival than watch in a sweaty crowd."
To think that everyone here has grown numb to sight... Do people become less than cattle once they are dubbed a sacrifice? You follow Yoimiya around the slowly dispersing crowd to the back.
Ayaka is giving orders until she spots you both. Quickly she comes over with a smile.
"I'm relieved to see that you were with Yoimiya. Thank you for watching over the oracle in our absence."
"Wait-What?! They're the oracle?" Yoimiya comically looks between you and Ayaka's smiling faces.
"You just let me talk about the oracle while not telling me you're the oracle?" You finally laugh at that. Setting the crate down, you sigh in relief and speak.
"It was entertaining, I promise I was planning to tell you before we split paths."
"I'm torn between being embarrassed and happy. At least you know my wish now." She deflates as she holds the crates with a pout. It's gone as quick as it came and she's back with a sunny smile.
"Well, then Ayaka please lead the way for me to put these fireworks away. I can't wait for the final ritual to see them light up the sky."
"You just saw them last week, you're insatiable for fireworks. Y/N, I'll meet up with Ayato, Thoma, and you in a little bit."
Ayaka smiles softly and beckons Yoimiya to follow her. Yoimiya smiles cheerfully and waves enthusicastically before hauling all 3 boxes. Does archery really make your arms that strong?
"Y/N!" A shout of your name and hard armor meets your back as you're hugged from behind. It was just a quick hug before you spin around.
"Gorou, all done with that soldier?" He smiles widely showing off his fangs. He's holding your arms with his gloved hands as his tail wags.
"Yeah, sorry about having to leave so suddenly. Are you feeling better now? You don't look as bad as before."
"I'm feeling a lot better now. I didn't worry you too much right?"
"I mean, I can't deny that I was worried but you're all better now so that's all that matters. Remember if you need to talk about it, you can always come to me. I'd prefer it that way."
His whisper is low, and you strain to catch it. But he smiles with a blush and it's enough to dissuade you. He's helped you a lot, you didn't want to be too nosy. He's also one of the few that hasn't used you for information about the creator too. It doesn't bother you but it's nice feeling like he hangs out with you because he finds your company nice.
"It's been some time since I've seen General Gorou this happy. Are you a friend of his?"
Motherfucker- How in the world did you manage to run into Kokomi fucking Sangonomiya!?
You hadn't accounted for her appearance since she's usually on Watatsumi Island. She's way too good, like facing a kinder, fishier Yae. Hell, she managed to beat Yae in TCG and find the card snatcher in that event. This wasn't Ei but meeting Yae and Kokomi on the same day has got to be bullshit.
While you were internally dying Gorou took the initiative to introduce you to Kokomi with a happy grin.
"This is Y/N, they're an oracle for the creator. They even have the Kamisato Clan's approval."
"That is quite impressive, allow me to introduce myself first. My name is Sangonomiya Kokomi, I'm the divine priestess of Watatsumi Island."
"It's an honor to meet you Sangononomiya? Sanganonomiya? Sanganomiya?" Your voice gradually lowers as you butcher her name. Honestly, you were just hoping she would dislike you and leave. You did not want to have another Yae-level battle.
Purple glossy eyes watch you struggle with her name in amusement. You even managed to confuse yourself on how to pronounce her name. She can't help but laugh bringing a gloved hand to her mouth.
"You must not be a native Inazuman. You can just call me Kokomi, as an oracle and Gorou's friend I can trust that you're a good person."
Gorou beams at his superior's approval and his expectant stare on you makes you feel even more trapped. So much for getting her to dislike you.
"Thank you for your generosity, Kokomi. I've heard here and there how good of a leader you are. Both in and outside of combat. Your citizens seem to adore you a lot."
At least you don't have to pronounce Sangonomiya anymore. She takes a step closer and peers at you. She's good but not impossible.
"Thank you but I believe you aren't that different from me."
What the fuck is that supposed to mean. Gorou holds your hand with a confused face. Was he always this touchy-feely in the game? You can't remember well with Kokomi staring dead into your eyes.
"I'm the divine priestess for Orobaxi, a god that Watatsumi Island worships despite being deceased. And you are an oracle for the creator. All living beings in Teyvat worship the creator, our jobs may have more similarities than you think."
"Are you saying this because as an oracle I am a communicator between the creator and the people? While as divine priestess you carry out the will of Orobaxi to protect your people?"
She smiles knowingly making her eyes squint a bit. "Precisely. Wouldn't you benefit more from staying on Watatsumi Island? Maybe not permanently but you could learn a lot from staying with us."
Wait what? Does she think that you came here to help Narukami Island? Not a bad guess since you do have the Kamisato's approval. Is she trying to poach you?
"This isn't well known but I'm on a mission for the creator. I can't share all the details, but it involves me moving around Teyvat a lot. I already have transportation to Liyue all prepared. Thank you for the offer but I'll have to decline."
Gorou and Kokomi both have disappointed expressions with Gorou's being far more dramatic. Or maybe that was his dropping ears and tail exaggerating his look.
"I understand, the creator must come first. If the tides ever lead you back to Inazuma, please come and visit Watatsumi Island."
As adapting as water, she moves past her rejection and smiles softly holding out her hand. You grab it and shake her hand until you feel a familiar feeling. The feeling of eyes watching you and ears listening to you strikes you.
You release her hand and Gorou speaks to her about something. You can't focus on what they are saying as the feeling leaves you chills.
It must be Yae.
Now that you think about it, isn't it weird how Gorou and Kokomi are in plain sight with no Yae? Her rival, punching bag, and an easy victim are all in one group, surely, she would not hesitate to come over. Unless she's with Ei.
Jumping to conclusions, you are definitely jumping to conclusions. Forcing yourself to breathe easily, you smile casually as you can finally hear what Kokomi and Gorou are saying.
"Your Excellency, I've already moved that emergency shipment to the boat. We can wait for you to finish meeting with the Electro Archon."
"You should go on ahead without me. Whatever she has called me for doesn't sound like a minor problem."
"Even so, leaving you in enem-" Kokomi's look makes Gorou shut his mouth and backtrack.
"Right, right. Sorry, force of habit. But I would still feel more comfortable waiting till you are done, your Excellency."
"Okay, I understand your concern. Please wait in Inazuma City until I'm done." Gorou smiles at Kokomi's acceptance.
"So, you'll be staying a while longer? It's a shame you didn't come a day earlier. I'm leaving for Liyue today after all." You join in when you get a chance. The last thing you want is for Yae to notice how aware you are of her presence.
Kokomo opens her mouth to speak when yells of your name can be heard across the plaza. You all turn to see Thoma waving to grab your attention while Ayaka and Ayato calmly stand and stare at you. Or are they staring at Gorou and Kokomi?
You give a wave back to let them know you saw them. Turning back with a small and slightly sad smile you hide your joy at a perfect escape option.
"And that is my transportation calling me. It's been lovely meeting you Kokomi despite the short amount of time we spent together. And Gorou, you were the highlight of this festival, I'll be sure to seek you out next time I come."
Gorou seems to swoon at your words while Kokomi smiles at your words and holds both your hands. Her stare is unnervingly deep into your eyes. Fisheyes in the game and in real life are much different up close.
"You are quite the fascinating person. Whenever you do come back, Watatsumi Island is more than happy to greet you with open arms."
Your smile is gentle matching hers despite how you're secretly sweating bullets. She releases your hands, and you see Gorou smiling at Thoma who is clearly glaring at him.
Unlike humans, animals bare their teeth to threaten. That little tidbit of information comes to mind when you see that Gorou's grin is a little ferocious. It all goes away once he sees you looking at him.
"Y/N, whenever you come back, make sure to visit Watatsumi Island twice as much time as you spent here. I can show you even more stuff than what I showed you here."
"I will Gorou." You promise before petting his head. You weren't sure when you would get to pet someone like this again so you wanted to take advantage of it while you still can. Gorou seems to like it as much as you do. His eyes close and his tail wags a little as he angles himself deeper into your touch.
When you pull your hand off, he pouts a bit but waves to you as you walk to the Kamisato's. You carefully peek back to see Kokomi say something teasing to Gorou that makes him embarrassed.
Yae conveniently turns the corner at that exact moment and scares Gorou. Seems like you dodged a bullet at poor Gorou's expense. But it also raises a question. Did Yae intentionally wait for you to leave to join the group? If so, is it because she feels bad or because she doesn't want you hearing what she has to say?
Deciding to leave it be you turn back to the Kamisato's as you approach them. Once you're in reach Thoma sweeps you into his arms and hugs you.
"What a warm welcome. Missed me that much Thoma?" You say with a smile as Thoma sets you down.
"Well, I have to! You're leaving today, I have to make the most of it." He smiles a little embarrassed as he avoids your eyes.
"Totally not because I pet Gorou?"
"Totally."
Ayato covers his mouth with his sleeve and coughs with a not very subtle "Liar" in between. Ayaka swats his arm with her fan and Thoma playfully glares at Ayato.
You snicker at the familiar sight of them fighting and almost trip over a firework stick. Your near tumble makes them all pay instant attention to you. Ayato and Thoma are quick to put a hand on your shoulders to steady you as Ayaka picks it up.
"It's a few are still missing. I'll have to send a servant to put it with the others later."
"Damn, sorry Ayaka I thought Yoimiya and I got them all. Will you have enough for the final ritual this month?"
"Oh yes more than enough. We always order extra just in case something like this happens. It's a shame you won't be here to see the final ritual." She looks to the ground sadly as she finishes.
"Ayaka is right, it truly is a shame. The final ritual is the cumulative of everyone's efforts and the fireworks look beautiful at night. I mean you could always stay until then. The Kamisato Estate is always open to you."
Ayato speaks with a purposefully convincing tone. What is up with people trying to convince you to stay? First Kokomi and now Ayato? Without thinking too deeply you reply.
"The journey from Liyue to Inazuma is pretty long and unpredictable. And there's no way I can freeload on you guys for some fireworks. Next time I come over I'll stay longer to attend it. Besides I can use the teleport waypoints."
The second you say that is the moment you regret it. Great going, now you'll be forced back to Inazuma in less than a month!
Too busy insulting yourself for your own stupidity you don't see how Ayaka and Thoma light up. Eagerly she writes down the date and time of the final ritual before placing it in your palm.
"Oh, that's perfect Y/N! Now you can continue being an oracle the way you wished and make it in time for the festival."
Ayato seems far too calm and smug for this whole thing to just be your own mistake. There's no doubt Ayato was waiting for you to mention teleporting yourself. Probably in case there was some prerequisite. Which you definitely would have made up if he mentioned it first. No one else to blame except yourself.
"Thanks, Ayaka, I'll do my best to attend." You slip the paper into your bag and smile warmly. You can't out right reject it now but maybe later on you can make some sort of excuse to avoid attending. Either way you have time and if you do have to attend...
Then your luck and lies going your way will let you have a firm standing as an oracle that won't allow Ei to suspect you that easily.
Maybe you're better off faking your death and living with the Aranaras. As the creator you should have some sort of influence on creatures. Hopefully...
"So, since the ritual is done and the festival is coming to an end, I should be on my way to Ritou. What boat am I taking?"
"That eager to leave Y/N? I would have thought you would at least let me bring up the topic seeing as we housed you all this time." Ayato's eyes are narrowed as he looks at you. His hand is covering his face and his voice sounds annoyed.
"I would never want to overstay my welcome in your estate. How could I take advantage of your kindness anymore then I already have? Besides wouldn't kind hosts like yourself avoid making your guests unwelcome by bringing up the topic of leaving. I'm simply doing you a favor."
You speak with a mocking kind voice and bring out the fan he gave you to cover your mouth. His annoyed voice melts away as he laughs softly at your actions. You crack a smile too until he tips your fan forward to reveal your face.
"This fan will be your ticket to the boat. As promised, I selected the best boat, the Crux will treat you kindly when you board the Alcor. Captain Beidou is said to be one of the best captains and a crew member by the name Kaedehara Kazuha was once a loyal subordinate of the Kamisato's."
That was actually pretty cool. Beidou is said to have defeated a hydra in her character entry. Plus, Kazuha was a really popular character. You were fond of them both and thinking of meeting them with no worry of dying sounded amazing.
At least until you remembered how the Crux was known for 'daring' adventures meaning batshit dangerous sailing. They could all survive it because they either have a vision or training. But you? You weren't a fighter, nor did you have any powers. It's that stupid dilemma about what to do when you inventible encounter enemies again!
"Thanks Ayato, the creator seems to trust them both a lot too. To get to Ritou I'll need to pass Byakko Plain and Konda village. And that little shore area with loads of monsters."
Ayato pauses when you mention monsters. He didn't forget that you can't fight right? You look to Ayaka and she's avoiding your gaze. You turn a little more urgently to Thoma just for him to smile nervously.
"You all forgot that I don't have any guards, fighting skills and powers, didn't you?"
"It's not that we forgot when we were making preparations Y/N. Originally, I was going to accompany you but the Shogun suddenly announced a meeting this morning that will be starting in an hour. Ayato and I will be forced to attend leaving Thoma the only one to take care of the estate in our absence."
You feel a bit more frantic. Maybe if it was daylight, you'd just take the risk but nighttime? You have no intention of dying to a hilichurl or any other monsters, humans included.
"Can't a guard come with me then?"
"It seems that's our only choice. The guards are necessary for the festival due to the large number of people. And the amount only heightens at night but it's a risk we'll have to take. Your safety is priority, you'll need two guards at least"
You feel a bit guilty knowing that you'll be putting the public in danger. But the chance of someone dying without two guards is much lower than the chance of you dying without a guard. It's not a bad thing to have survival instincts, you tell yourself to ease the guilt.
"Wouldn't a better idea be for me to accompany them instead?" Someone butts into the conversation (rude) with a horrifically familiar voice.
Clips of the scene "Traveler, you're so dreamy~" echo throughout your mind as you remember his first birthday art posted on Reddit during a crisis that only caused more chaos.
Heizou walks with confidence to your group smiling innocently. Like he wasn't just eavesdropping on everything. You want to scream.
Who fucking cursed you?! You managed to run into everybody you wanted to avoid! Except Ei but you were starting to doubt that you'll be able to avoid her too.
Thoma throws Heizou a suspicious glance before standing next to you protectively. You wish Thoma was able to protect you from whatever Heizou's intuition is telling him about you. There's a large chance he heard you be referred to as an oracle.
Ayato and Ayaka keep their composure as Heizou stops in front of them who are standing in front of you. Seems like they all don't want him close to you. Is it because he's part of the Tenryou Commission?
"My, what's the caution about? I'm an upstanding member of the Tenryou Commission. With a vision too! I prefer not to fight but I am good at it." His voice was even more melodious in person. If only it wasn't hiding the absolute trap, you know he has behind his back.
"Considering that you were eavesdropping on our conversation for a while, I truly doubt your words. You always abandon or delegate your work to other people too. Can I really trust that with Y/N's safety?"
Ayato's words are as sharp as his stare. His eyes are similar to the depths of the ocean waiting to pull their victims into the freezing water. It really reminded you of when you first met him. Your relationship with him has improved in bounds and leaps.
"Now, now no need to be so hostile. I'm under Madam Kujou Sara this time. She was worried about the oracle and asked me to check up on them. I am the only other vision holder that's awakened in the Tenryou Commission. I can promise you that they'll make it to Ritou, they'll probably be boarding the Crux, correct?"
Heizou, to his credit, is good under Ayato's pressure. Probably from dealing with Sara all the time. Thoma clearly doesn't trust Heizou, Ayaka is seemingly neutral on the matter and Ayato is weirdly against Heizou.
"Were you not listening early enough to be sure what boat Y/N is going on?"
How didn't you notice Heizou listening? You were able to spot Yae right away, yet you missed him?
"The oracle is clearly an important person as they are directly connected to the creator. Only the Crux could provide a level of safety fit for them."
You saw Yae first, so you were always on guard for her. Did you unknowingly relax around the Kamisato's therefore preventing you from noticing Heizou?
"All it took was a quick deduction. I'm a detective for a reason." Heizou ends with a smile. Ayato though less tense hasn't let up his stare. The tension is killing you, but you can't afford to stay any longer.
Heizou only offered to figure out the mystery behind you and his intuition probably had a hand in it too. Going with him does mean dealing with whatever questions he throws at you, but it seems to be your only choice. You can't risk staying any longer and running into Ei.
You move away from Thoma's side and place a hand on Ayato's shoulder. You smile trying to lessen Ayato's suspicion.
"He doesn't seem to be a bad choice at all. Going with him means I'll be safe and so will everyone else. Like he said, he's an awakened acolyte with a vision. Sara wouldn't send him unless she was truly okay with it. She's very cautious concerning these things after all."
Ayato looks down at you with a vague feeling of dissatisfaction. If it was up to him, he would accompany you himself. Better yet he would keep you in Inazuma. He knows Ayaka and Thoma would be more than happy with that too.
But the longer he looks at you the more he knows that what he wants just isn't going to happen or work. The nervous smile you send him makes his heart flutter. With a sigh he nods.
"If that's what you wish Y/N then Shikanoin can escort you to the boat." And if his subordinate that is already stationed there reports back that you never boarded the boat then he knows exactly who to blame.
You smile feeling relieved that you won't have to worry about dying on the journey. Looking to Heizou you feel that relief turn to exhaustion as you imagine what the conversation during the journey will be like.
"You're Shikanoin Heizou correct? I'm Y/N, an oracle for the creator. Although I don't appreciate you eavesdropping, I am thankful that you'll be escorting me."
You walk forward and hold out your hand to shake his. Heizou looks at the two Kamisato's and honorary Kamisato behind you who are giving him varying levels of glares. Flashing a smug smile to them he shakes your hand.
"Don't mention it Y/N. You can just call me Heizou, we'll be spending a lot of time together on this trip after all."
You can tell he's saying that more to rile up the Kamisatos, but you tactfully ignore it and release his hand. Time to play damage control! Fun.
You turn around to face them with a grin. You were honestly going to miss them, a lot more than you originally thought.
"I can't thank you three enough for helping me out like this. Whenever I visit Inazuma again, the first stop will be the estate. Probably when the final ritual is occurring. If there's anything I can do for you, let me know, okay?"
They all gave you their own version of goodbye.
"I'll be eagerly awaiting your next visit." A sad but happy face hiding behind a fan.
"Come whenever, I'll make you more good food!" An excited and slightly melancholic expression.
"Don't sound so sappy, you make it sound like you'll die." A gentle look that alludes to the longing hiding behind it.
You can't help but feel a sense of dread rise up. As if the next time you see them won't be as happy as you think it'll be.
But that's the future. The future can always be changed. You shouldn't get so hung up and worried about something that is so far away.
To ease your worries and the sorrow you feel at having to leave, you wave to them with a bright smile. You follow Heizou who already began walking to Inazuma City's exit.
He isn't speaking, just quietly leading you through the city. You don't bother trying to break the quiet like you did with Ayato. You don't need Heizou's attention anymore then you probably have.
Your eyes trail over Heizou as you follow him. You try not to stare at his exposed sides but judging by the smile he gives you... He definitely noticed. Slu-
"Are all oracles supposed to be as perverted as you?"
"What do you mean by perverted? If you take my glances at you as perversion, then you're the perverted one. Aren't you cold?"
"It's not that bad. I'm sure you're at least a little warmer with that mask on." Here comes the questions.
"It's broken, any heat I could retained is lost through the cracks."
"Then why wear it? Surely the Kamisato's would gladly fund you more masks. So, what's so special about that mask? Why even wear it?"
Unlike Yae who was only interested in toying with you, Heizou is looking to solve the mystery. Plus, you had him which means he must feel the pull you give off as the creator. What's the point of being the creator if it only leads you to more problems?
Like it or not you're stuck in this situation and his intuition is like an otherworldly sense. Staying silent might lead him to arrest you, you can't risk missing the boat. So, you'll need to lead him around, a plan that just might work due to his own pride.
"Well why can't I? My mask isn't hurting anyone. Is your instinct as a detective telling you that my mask is important?"
"My intuition you mean. You're smart enough to get the Kamisato's trust and Madam Kujou Sara's trust. And I have a hunch that, that mask is connected to your oracle status."
"Doubting me huh? Well, you can't arrest me for wearing a mask or just looking shady so let's make this journey fun." You say with a smile as you both pass farms and the huge tree at the edge of the city.
"What are you proposing?"
"I guess you could call it a game. Your intuition seems sharp enough to pick up on any bullshit I spew. Ask me any questions and I'll give you cryptic answers. Maybe I'm lying, telling the truth, deflecting or a mix of them all. A test of both of our skills. If you can figure out why I'm hiding my face, then I'll tell you everything."
You actually mean it. Mostly because Heizou wouldn't believe you if you aren't being honest. If he can actually wait and listen to everything, then maybe he won't immediately attack you.
You know it's a stupid chance, but you can't risk being here any longer. You want to stop feeling scared of thunderous skies and lighting chasing your every move.
Heizou is quiet as he watches you while thinking. Should he accept this? His intuition won't stop nagging him to find the truth behind you. What does he really have to lose playing with you like this? With a smile he finally responds.
"Alright, let's see if you can keep the truth hidden as well as you think you can. Is that mask special?"
"Not really, I only took it because it was broken."
"Why would you take a broken mask?"
"The price of course, well the lack of price I mean." You only fibbed a little there. You have to test how well he can pick up on lies.
He hums in acknowledgement. It's clear he doesn't fully believe it. The game was right to dub him as a prodigy detective.
"That mask has the trademark of Mr. Sanden. He's a bit of a perfectionist, he doesn't sell any masks he isn't happy with. So how did you manage to get him to sell it to you?"
He's got home advantage too. But remembering Heizou's past made you recall his hatred for sin. You can't help but worry that he'll react violently if you admit your theft. That's what selective wording is good for!
"You got me. Sanden didn't want to sell it to me, but he eventually did let me leave with it. I'm thankful since the mask has served me well."
"Are you wearing that mask to deter certain people?" That little bait was a good deflection.
"Well, you could say so. Maybe I committed a crime that would be revealed with my mask off. Or I'm hiding an ugly scar behind it that I don't want people to see. It could be that I'm living a double life and this mask is the only difference between my lives."
You shrug and pass by the spot where you met the Arrataki Gang. Not for the first time you missed them. Sara included, at least you didn't need to think hard and fast on how to fool her.
"What do you think is the truth? Are they all true to a degree? Or are they all lies?"
Heizou hums and holds his chin looking like a true detective. You look a little closer to examine the moles beneath his eyes. It was pretty cool how he had matching ones. He snaps his fingers and points at you with mirth.
"Sounds more like two lies and a truth. Or maybe half-truth would be a better description. That double life choice seems to be on the right track."
He wasn't wrong, but the answer was much farther than a double life. You spot the teleport waypoint that you activated after defeating those treasure hoarders and nobushi. Are the materials you collected from them still bloody?
"Believe what you will. I don't necessarily need to confirm whether you got the correct answer."
"Getting a little defensive aren't you. Seems like I should ask you a little more about this topic. Where were you born?"
"I actually don't know." It's true, you had no clue what hospital or city you were born in.
"Then where did you arrive in Inazuma? Watatsumi or Ritou?"
"Neither I simply woke up on Seirai Island." You know he'll probably dig around for more information about this topic once you leave but you're okay with that. How will he tell which story on your appearance is true or false?
"I find it hard to believe that you don't remember anything beyond that."
"I don't have many memories before becoming the oracle. Realizing what I have to do ordered by the creator makes me believe that my past-"
Your rambling is cut off by the scoff he lets out.
"Man alive, no need to start preaching about the creator that I've personally experienced. I don't believe your words about the creator at all. And we got quite off topic, didn't we? Tell me, did the creator order you to wear that mask?"
What a question. Perfect time to test deflection.
"Would you stop asking me questions if I say that the creator did order me to wear it? Would you even believe me if I said that they did?"
"No."
"So, you're just asking to fuck with me?"
"Not necessarily, all these questions are just steppingstones to the truth."
"Fancy way to say that you'll ask me anything and everything."
"Glad to hear that you've already accepted your fate." This little shit.
You slow down your pace while passing by the temple. You feel a bit tempted to enter it to admire the murals. Heizou stops to watch you stare up at it in amazement. For an 'oracle' you seem mesmerized by the temple.
You jump a little as Heizou slings a arm around your shoulder and pulls you along the path again. Konda village is in sight and his breath is fanning over your ear.
"So, tell me Y/N, do you at least remember what region you were born in? Or at least lived in before becoming an oracle? Y/N isn't a very common name, in fact you're the first person I've met with that name."
"Well, I'm quite sure I wasn't born in Inazuma. I wouldn't call Seirai Island a home either." You nearly whisper as you stare straight into his eyes. You refused to be psyched out, not after all the other authorities you tricked on Earth.
He lets go of you and walks a little ahead of you. Frowning in confusion you speed up to match his pace. You barely catch the way his smile wavers a little and his hand toys with the baton on his hip. Was the previous proximity affecting Heizou too?
"What's wrong Heizou? For someone who I pegged as the teasing type you sure can't handle your own consequences."
Heizou smiles a littler wider contradicting how his eyebrows furrow. There's a large chance you're a criminal, something like that shouldn't have affected him so strongly. So why did you? Why did the heat of your body and smell of something sweet on you make him fumble like that?
"Speak for yourself, your heart was beating out of your chest."
"Even noticed my heartbeat huh? Sounds like you've got some sort of crush."
"You wish now stop trying to distract me. In fact, what about those writings on the temple walls made you so distracted."
"They were writing?" You questioned instinctively and immediately regretted it. The smile Heizou wears is victorious.
"Yes, it was. Do you know how to read?"
"No. Or at least not that well."
"Heh so that's a yes, just not in this language."
"Basically."
"Interesting and very believable. That writing was very old, but it was written in the universal language with Inazuma dialect. Meaning you should be able to at least recognize it as writing, but you didn't."
You're nervous but you calmly cross the stone bridge into Konda village. Heizou seems to want to ask something but the yells from parents interrupt him.
"Takeru! Takeru, you little rascal it's bedtime! Where are you?! Oh, where is he?" An older woman is calling out for Takeru who seems to be a child judging by the bedtime.
"Futaba! It's nighttime, it's not safe to be out this late! Futaba!" A much older woman with white hair is calling out too. You and Heizou pass by them a little concerned.
The sky is darkening but it's not pitch black just yet. Those children should probably still be out playing or something. Heizou hums and sweeps his eyes across the village.
"After I drop you off, I'll come back to make sure those kids came back fine."
"Is it normal for children to play without supervision?" The thought of kids playing outside when there are literal monsters around sounds unbelievable.
"It's quite common especially around villages like this where only elderly and children live. This is a farming village too so they're likely playing on the farm."
You nod and follow Heizou to leave the village by going under the flimsy looking gate. The sickle you picked up and put in your bag on whim still makes you uneasy. Your gut feeling made you pick it up and you aren't quite sure what to do with it now.
"I haven't forgotten about your slip up. So, either you lied about knowing how to read or you know how to read in a different language that has no roots in the universal language."
This guys just does not miss a beat. As you get closer to the beach area that leads to Ritou, you see a teleport waypoint. You couldn't activate the one in Inazuma City due to the crowd and Yae but this one could be used to your advantage.
You stop at the waypoint making Heizou look at you in confusion. You place a hand on the waypoint and relish in the new gold color it turns. Smugly you look to see Heizou staring at the waypoint with a shocked expression.
"Man alive, how did you-?"
He's cut off by a scream. It sounds like a young boy and you both look at each other in alert. Immediately Heizou turns and runs down the steps onto the shore with you following him.
The scream is joined by another scream sounding like a girl. You and Heizou follow it to the right and run past the waterfall and follow the dirt path. Blindly passing by a hilichurl camp you see a Fatui Hydrogunner and an Electrohammer.
You freeze up in fear as you watch a boy be slung over the Hydrogunner's shoulder and a girl try to crawl away from the Electrohammer. Heizou wastes no time to deliver an anemo infused punch to the Electrohammer giving the girl a chance to stand up.
You take a deep breath and move closer to hold the girl. She clings onto you in fear as she weeps loudly. You watch in a daze as Heizou continues dealing blows to the Electrohammer. At least until the Hydrogunner makes his move.
"Freeze or the boy drowns."
All three of you freeze as the Hydrogunner points to his gun to the boy's head. The Electrohammer hits Heizou straight in the chest with the war hammer knocking him back.
"Heizou!" You yell as you watch him hit the ground harshly. You yelp in pain when you're suddenly lifted up harshly by your neck. Struggling in his grasp uselessly until he squeezes your neck and throws you over his shoulder. The girl cowers and cries as she's yanked onto the other side.
Heizou stands up but stays in place as the Hydrogunner keeps the gun to the boy's head. You're about to wrap your hands around the Electrohammer's neck when he speaks.
"I wouldn't do that unless you want the boy to get blown to pieces."
You freeze before hanging limply over his shoulder. Everything is quiet save for the children's sobs. The Electrohammer starts walking farther from the city and the Hydrogunner does the same but slower.
You can only watch as Heizou's furious face gets smaller and smaller. They bring you and the kids to a camp close to Araumi. You land roughly on the floor with rope tied around you. A Anemoboxer who was waiting at their camp ties up the kids and drops them next to you. You give one last scathing glare before they close the tent flap.
Tense, you wait a few moments until you hear the muffled sounds of them talking. You turn back to look at the scared kids next to you.
"Hey, hey it's okay. We're going to get out of this, okay? Did you see that guy with me? He's a friend and he's really strong too. He's gonna get us out of here."
Their sobs slow down at your words and they look up at you. They have little scratches and scraps from trying to escape the Fatui.
"I want to go home, I wanna see Granny." "Are they going to take us?"
You shush them quietly to stop them from working themselves up into a crying fit.
"Me and my friend are going to make sure you get home safe. Why don't you both tell me your names? Mine is Y/N and my friend is called Heizou."
"I'm Takeru and she's Futaba." Takeru speaks with a waver as Futaba nods tearfully. They're still scared and the conversation between the Fatui is slowly turning into an argument.
"It's nice to meet you both, now I need you both to be brave and stay quiet for me." They both nod and you smile trying to offer some comfort. You couldn't let them take you and the kids' hostage again.
The ropes are tight around your torso and wrists, but they underestimated you. There is a pole in the middle of the tent with a wheel but it's the gear behind it that matters.
Carefully you move your legs until they are bent underneath you. You stand up and stumble a little to the gear. You can feel the sharp edges around the gear and smile.
At first you try to cut the large rope around your torso, but the rope is too thick and strong. You move your back higher against the pole so that the rope around your wrists is the one being cut.
Takeru and Futaba watch you in a mixture of fear and hope. You smile when you feel the rope give away and fall to the ground. With your hands free, you struggle a little to shimmy your bound arms to your front.
It's like wearing a really tight shirt with your arms still in it. Uncomfortable but not super painful. Once it's done you move to your bag that was thrown on the ground. Carefully you kneel and open it.
The game screen is deeper in the bag, and you shove your hand in to select the sickle you took from Konda village. When you pull your hand out it's weakly holding the sickle.
The kids smile as hope becomes clearer. The argument outside is getting louder. Yells of "this wasn't the plan!" and "we have to do it!" are making you increasingly worried.
Carefully you maneuver the sickle to cut the ropes without cutting your own shirt. The ropes break and you stretch your arms to get the blood flowing.
"Alright, I'm gonna get you both free but you have to stay quiet and listen to me or we'll get caught again."
They nod eagerly and you move behind them. You cut off the ropes and they stand up in a flash. But the loud sound of a punch cuts your victory short. Takeru and Futaba huddle closer to you in fear.
You smile kindly and hold out your free hand to them.
"Hold onto me, be prepared to make a run." They nod and grasp your arm as the sound of fighting gets louder. You walk closer to the tent flap and lift it to see the outside.
Heizou is fighting them all with a few wounds. The hit he took earlier must still be affecting him. This was not a good match up. Although the elemental shields aren't up yet, it wasn't an easy fight.
The Anemoboxer and the Hydrogunner are both healing and the Electrohammer is giving heavy electro blows. Not even mentioning the swirl that's happening. Once those shields come up, Heizou will have even more work to do.
The minute they have one of you hostage is when the fight is over. You can't let that happen. You can dodge but the kids can't. You eye the path and turn back to the kids.
"Listen carefully, you saw that dirt path they took us on? You need to follow it back to where me and Heizou found you. Just stay there and wait, okay? If anyone that you don't recognize starts coming. just hide."
You would rather them go straight back to Konda village, but you didn't want them at the mercy of the hilichurls either. They tremble but nod at your words.
You look out the flap sneakily and suck in a breath as the Anemoboxer starts heading towards the tent you all are at. Quickly you throw it open and drag the kids out with you.
The fighting freezes for a moment as the flap hits the Anemoboxer in the face and you push the kids in front of you. The Electrohammer and Hydrogunner look at you in surprise.
"Run!"
This springs the kids into action and Heizou delivers a charged up anemo punch to the Hydrogunner. Rain starts to fall, and the elemental shields were thrown up. The Anemoboxer has just doubled in your dangerous rating. The Anemoboxer reaches out for you making you jump back.
You just need to keep the Anemoboxer away from Heizou who's dealing with the other two Fatui Skirmishers. You keep dodging and running circles around him. You were mostly afraid of him using anemo to pull you in.
The fights weren't like watching it in the game. These guys bleed even while encased in the war machines. You hear the groan of the Hydrogunner passing out and smile crookedly. Was this fight finally going to be over soon?
The Anemoboxer leaves you to fight Heizou and you finally take a breather. Heizou doesn't stick to the Genshin game rules either. His catalyst follows him as he mixes up his normal attack pattern. Horrible timing but it's really cool watching him use anemo in creative ways that the game never showed.
The enemies seem to be in a rougher state. There's a three way stand off as they all stop to catch their breath. You see movement behind Heizou and feel your blood run cold.
"Heizou behind you!"
Heizou follows your words and just barely dodges the water blast from the Hydrogunner that was slowly getting back up. With one last fully charged kick to the head, the Hydrogunner falls down. The loud crack lets you know that he may never get up again.
The other two Fatui don't let the opportunity slip. With the Anemoboxer dragging Heizou closer, the Electrohammer slams the hammer down onto Heizou. You clench the sickle in your hand tighter as you can only watch in horror.
You stayed out of the fight for a reason, you couldn't fight you would only be in the way. But that's not an option anymore. Hearing his pained groans as he's punched by the Anemoboxer swirling the electro and rain spurs you into action.
While the Anemoboxer's back is turned you sneak up and raise the sickle. The spot in his back with no armor covering it seems to call to you. You slam the tip of the blade straight into it making him cry out.
You pull it out in a hurry and jump back as the wound bleeds more. The Electrohammer looks at you in surprise giving Heizou a long enough breather to get back up.
The Electrohammer and Heizou go straight back to combat as the Anemoboxer faces you. His huge gauntlets swing around trying to hit you as he coughs up blood. The ground is slippery, and it makes your dodging a little harder.
You jump closer to the boxer making him throw up his shield in reflex. Using the rain, you slide around him and slash his thigh to limit his speed.
The sickle's weight was clumsy at first but the more you traded blows using it, the more you came to master it. Gritting your teeth, you quickly stand back up after slipping from the wet ground.
Silently you urge Heizou to hurry up, you weren't sure how much more you could take. Your mask was starting to crumble but you pushed it to the back of your mind.
The boxer runs up to you in a flash not letting you back away fast enough. Reflexes are what save you from a punch to the face as you crouch and roll away. He's still bringing his fist back to defend himself giving you an opening.
You can tell something is different as you swing your sickle. Something about you is different that makes you wonder if you'll be able to finish the boxer once and for all.
Electro crackles around the sickle as you puncture his chest. The electro-charged reaction and wound seem to do the trick. The boxer stumbles and gasps for air.
You watch in horror and relief as the boxer falls onto the floor. You really killed again, and you used elemental to do so. You don't have a moment to stew on that though as you hurriedly dodge the now furious Electrohammer. The war hammer slams onto the ground and Heizou is quick to kick a projectile anemo shot to his face.
It knocks him to the ground, and you watch with unknown feelings as the mask he wears breaks. The fight is over, you and Heizou won. There's no time to wallow in self-pity, not as Heizou stumbles with a dazed expression.
You're quick to support him and he lays his bleeding head on you. You gently move his arm to wrap around you and do the same for him. His wounds aren't life threatening or serious, but he's been bleeding for a while. You need to stop the bleeding first.
Helping him gently you move him to lean against a small boulder. In a rush you go back to the tent and open your bag. You take out some of the leftover medical supplies you kept (stole) from the Kamisato Estate.
Slinging the bag back on you hurry to Heizou. The rain seems to be letting up as you examine him. His head is bleeding from a cut, so you bandage it first. His shirt is dyed red, and you lift it up and wince at the sight.
Multiple bruises and cuts cover his stomach and chest. That's gonna be a bitch to bandage, especially considering how much damage his back too.
"Sorry Heizou, this'll hurt." Heizou only weakly groans with his eyes screwed shut in pain.
Pushing the shirt as high as you can, you start wrapping it around him. Not the best solution but it's your only one with so little supplies. Heizou's consciousness seems to come and go as you finish and fix his shirt.
The thought of Heizou closing his eyes and falling asleep in such a state worries you. What if he passes out from blood loss and dies? Thoughts like that rise up and you grasp for anything to keep him awake.
"Hey Heizou, if you can respond to me in words. I'll tell you a big hint to my secret."
His eyes focus on you a little more. That's a good sign, nothing like baiting a detective like him with leads.
"Well, *cough* what hint are you *cough* going to give me?" His raspy voice and coughs worry you, but they seem to make him more awake.
"You were really close on me having a second life."
"That's it? That's a *cough* crappy hint."
You laugh at his remark trying to hide your relief. The fear of holding another cold body of someone you cared about still plagues you.
"If you want a better hint then you better drag it out of me as I drag you back to Konda village."
You support him as he chuckles at your words. He does his best to not lay too much weight on you but that's hard when his head is fuzzy.
The walk is quiet and with him so close you relish in the sound of his harsh breathing. It lets you know that he's still breathing, that you didn't fail.
You don't want to think about the person you just killed. So, your mind analyzes about the electro you wielded through the sickle instead. It makes a lot of sense that you can use the elements through a weapon as a medium. How could you have not realized that possibility?
If you continued training with it, could you eventually use electro without a weapon? Probably not but the idea of shooting electro is cool, nonetheless.
Takeru and Futaba are waiting nervously in the spot you instructed. You smile at the sight and wait till you are closer to call out.
"Futaba, Takeru! Over here!"
They smile at the sight of you both and run to meet you. Futaba frowns in worry at the sight of Heizou and you injured. Takeru tries to help by supporting his other side.
Heizou buries his head in the crook of your neck to hide the grimace of pain as Takeru touches the wounded area.
"Takeru, Futaba can you guys guide us to Konda village? It's an important job since we don't want to get ambushed by enemies."
Eyes wide they nod and walk a little ahead. They survey the surroundings seriously and nod at you firmly to show that it's safe.
Heizou keeps his head on your shoulder and mumbles. "Thanks, guess you're as perceptive as I thought."
You huff in amusement and continue supporting him until you all get to Konda village. The two women that were looking for the kids earlier spot you all and rush over.
They both hug their respective family members with tears in their eyes. It's clear that the kids aren't over the dangerous encounter.
"Thank you so much for saving Takeru and Futaba. You both seem very injured, please come to my house. I have some supplies that can help you both."
The village chief approaches you and Heizou with concern. You nod gratefully and help Heizou into the house. There's a small cot on the floor and Heizou lays down on it slowly.
Konda Densuke, the village chief comes back with a fully stocked medical kit. It's more primitive than the ones you are used to in Earth, but it'll work well enough.
"I'll leave you to it, once you're done, please come outside. I'll have something that can help that young man."
Quietly you thank the old man and turn back to Heizou as the door closes.
"I'm about to get pretty personal with your body, that's not a problem, right?"
"Why are you asking as if you weren't doing that earlier? Of course, it's fine, just don't be so obvious with your staring."
"If you weren't injured, I would hit you myself."
He chuckles and removes his cracked arm guards. You focus on taking out the bandages and ointment out of the kit. You leave briefly to wet a rag with water and come back to see Heizou shirtless sitting on the cot.
He smiles up at you seemingly more aware and alert. His bandages around his torso are stained red. Smaller cuts and scrapes cover his arms and legs. The bandage on his forehead is bleeding a lot less than before.
You kneel beside him and carefully remove the bandage on his head. Heizou bears the pain of you wiping away the dirt and applying the ointment well. The new patch is put on his head and your hands move lower to the bandages around his torso.
After unraveling it, you feel relieved that nothing has become inflamed or infected yet. The bruises on his back and front are tended to before you clean the cuts. You firmly wrap the new bandage around his torso. He only tenses up as you finish.
"This is only a temporary solution. Once we get to Ritou you should see a doctor."
"I will, I promise but I must say. This is some pretty good work, like you have experience doing this kind of thing. Care to tell me who you've helped before?"
He really is a nuisance. He was almost killed in a bad match up with three Fatui Skirmishers and his first instinct after properly waking up is to question you?
"Seriously? Not even a thank you? And my expertise comes from taking care of myself if you must know." Scowling with no real annoyance you put away the remaining supplies back into the med kit.
Heizou laughs at your reaction before placing a hand on your shoulder. He rests his head on the opposite shoulder and speaks softly. What is with this guy and leaning on you?
"You're right, thank you Y/N. Even with my suspicions, I'm still thankful that you helped me and those kids. I'm hoping that whatever secret you're hiding isn't one I'll ever have to arrest you for."
HIs bare bandaged chest against your back makes you embarrassed.
"Aren't you a bit too up close and personal with someone you're suspecting?" You say stiffly as he proceeds to melt even further into you.
"Getting shy?" He whispers teasingly. His face is dangerously close to your neck making you tense up further. You already knew that he was a flirt but isn't he moving too fast?!
Your face gets redder as his breath grazes your neck. People have tried to trick you in numerous ways before. That includes pretending to have fallen in love with you for information. Seduction never worked on you due to how untrusting you are.
But in Teyvat? Where the characters you found comfort in and loved? It was hard not to be affected or overthink things like this. While you were avoiding looking at him, Heizou took his time admiring you.
The flustered look on your face, your fingers drumming on your thigh. It was adorable how nervous you were. For a split second he remembered how comfortable you were around the Kamisato, how brightly you smiled. Did you get all flustered around them like this too?
A flash of jealousy engulfs him, and his body seems out of his control. His teeth lightly nip your neck making you stand up in a flash. Your voice is steady, but your heart is beating out of control.
"I'm going to see what the village chief had for you. Just stay here."
Watching you leave in a hurry makes him realize what he just did. Man alive, what the hell made him act like that? Despite the slight guilt from overstepping a boundary, he honestly didn't regret it. If he had a chance, he'd probably do it again.
When you come back in with two plates and a cup. Your face was back to normal, and your posture was relaxed.
"They were nice enough to make us some food and a drink to help with your blood loss. It's some citrus juice so make sure to drink it all."
Sitting down next to him, you pass him the cup and a plate. You eat the food and Heizou follows your lead. It's fine if you don't want to touch on what happened. Frankly he's still unsure why he's become so enamored by you as well. But at least he has a better grasp on you and your secret.
After eating everything you both return the dishes and thank the chief. The elderly women, Takeru, and Futaba all come out despite the dark sky. They thank you and Heizou asking if you need anything.
"Don't worry, I'm just glad no one got seriously hurt." Heizou tries to elbow you with playful intent, but you move out the way with a smile.
"Why don't you both stay the night? Those injuries must still be bothering you. We have extra room."
You only had some minor bruising compared to Heizou. The cuts and scrapes were no more than an itch to you. These kinds of injuries were normal to you on Earth. And you really couldn't afford to waste any more time.
"Thanks for the offer but we have to get to Ritou before the stars come out. Please stay safe."
You wave to them one last time before arriving back at the shore area.
"Seems like there's no more children being kidnapped, let's get across this area fast."
Heizou on the other hand seems content to just stroll along. Well, that wouldn't work for you, you could not miss the Crux. You stop letting Heizou walk a little ahead of you. He notices your absence and stops to look back at you in confusion.
You run past him and grab something from his side. You slow your sprint a little to face him as you raise your prize.
"If you want your jitte back then you'll have to catch me!" Spinning around you face Ritou's direction and continue running. You can hear Heizou kick sand as he chases after you.
He honestly could care less about his jitte. It's the sight of you smiling brightly as he tries to grab you that makes him continue chasing you. The wounds and injuries from the fight still ache but it's worth the pain. You're worth the pain.
You'll be leaving soon. You might be a fraud. Logic says that being so fixated on you so soon is dangerous and stupid. Yet his smile never leaves his face as he finally snatches his jitte out of your hand.
His intuition screams at him that you're so much more. That whatever you're hiding will bring him happiness of a lifetime. That you will bring him that happiness.
You stumble onto the stone pavement in Ritou as Heizou keeps his hand on your shoulder. You're both calming down from laughing at him nearly falling face first into the sand.
"How didn't you see that pile of crabs? Too distracted by me to focus?"
"What if I was? You can't tell since you nearly passed out from laughing at me."
"You can't blame me for that! I would pay good money to have seen you actually fall face first."
You walk past Ritou's town square as the docks and inspection tent get into view.
"Money huh? Is that the currency in your old world?"
You continue walking casually but there's no denying how you almost froze up.
"Is that the conclusion you've come to after all the questions?"
"My intuition tells me that I've barely scrapped the surface but I'm all out of leads. For now, my suspicion is that you come from another world similar to the traveler. Although I'm not sure if the creator ordered you to keep your identity secret. You do seem to be an oracle for them."
Psychology really was amazing. By getting Heizou so worked up about your mask, you managed to have him believe you to be an oracle. The minor fact of you not being from this world makes him feel accomplished in a sense. You let him figure out one secret to hide a bigger one.
"You really are a great detective. No one else has realized I'm not from this world but you. But that didn't answer my original question in the game. It seems like you lost Heizou, no secrets for you."
Stopping at the end of the stairs Heizou looks at you seriously.
"I really hate leaving mysteries unsolved."
"Then you'll just have to handle me being the mystery left unsolved."
"What if I just took your mask off right now? We both know I'd catch you even if you tried to run. Or better yet I could arrest you for any stupid reason just to take it off."
You can't stop the laughter that bubbles up inside you. You wipe the moisture from your eyes as your laughter turns to giggles. The main reason you were okay with traveling with Heizou despite his intense need to solve mysteries is because...
"That would utterly destroy your pride. I know that you dislike fighting, that the moment you're forced into combat while solving a mystery is when you feel like you lost. You take so much pride in becoming a detective that having to resort to force would be a low you'd never stoop down to reach."
He turns away with a relaxed stance. His head angled to the ground with a nostalgic smile.
"Guess you must have found out some of my private information through the creator. But you're right, I would never do that."
It's quiet as you two resume walking to the inspection tent. Ah crap, does the fan work as an ID for you too?
There's no line due to how late it is but there is a familiar person.
"Sara?"
She turns away from the inspector and looks at you with some confusion. The sight of Heizou next to you, so close to you, makes her frown.
"Y/N, a pleasure to see you again. I can only assume that you are leaving under the creator's orders but what are you doing with Shikanoin?"
"But didn't you ask him to check up on me?"
...That little shit.
Sara glares at Heizou as you mentally put the pieces together. Sara sees Heizou as someone irresponsible. There's a very low chance of her entrusting someone connected to the 'creator' like you to him. She would rather do it herself.
Ayato was right when he said that Heizou tends to skip or delegate regular Doushin duties to others. And that's because he has no interest in those jobs. Sara probably knows that full well and would rather avoid that outcome. Plus, Heizou even asked where you arrived on Inazuma even though you already told Sara that you woke up on Ritou.
"Shikanoin, that is not acceptable behavior for a Doushin. What explanation do you have for yourself?"
Sara's stern voice bounces off Heizou who is far too used to it. You didn't bother stepping in. Not only were you curious how he got to know all your previous information, but the sneaky bastard deserved it.
"Madam you really can't blame me for investigating on my own accord. Not only have there been some subtle rumors about a mysterious oracle, but you kept glancing at Y/N during the festival. As Y/N already knows, I listened in on their conversation with the Kamisato Clan for a bit before introducing myself."
"Even still, you know the proper procedures to investigate something. Now that you've already interrogated them, you should leave them be- What are those wounds?"
Sara's exasperated voice turns cold when she looks closer at you and notices the minor cuts on you.
"Were you attacked on the way here? Not only did the oracle get injured but you also investigated them in this state?"
Maybe you should step in now, Sara seems on the verge of throwing him in jail.
"It's fine Sara, some Fatui were trying to kidnap two children from Konda village, so we stepped in. Honestly Heizou did most of the fighting and is the real wounded one."
You smile and finish with an almost proud laugh. "It was impressive how Heizou had me fooled this entire time. I'm not mad at all so don't worry Sara. But thank you for being so worried."
You softly hold Sara's hands and give a grateful squeeze before pulling away. You step past her to talk to the inspector. This was gonna be a nightmare. You don't see the competitive glare Heizou and Sara give each other.
As you are denied exit permission due to your lack of identification, Sara and Heizou step in to help you at the same time. After a few minutes of Sara and Heizou vouching for you as third-party authorizers, you hand over the fan.
That seemed to be enough proof for them to hand you a stack of papers to fill out. You moved the monstrous number of papers to a crate. Paperwork that you had to touch to read before filling out, what a joy.
"I'll be leaving first. The Shogun requires my presence for an important meeting. Shikanoin, I expect you to be at headquarters to finish all the new paperwork you earned after pulling the stunt you did. And Y/N please stay safe on your journey, may the creator guide you."
"Thank you, Sara, good luck at the meeting! Oh, and please tell the Arrataki Gang goodbye for me too!"
Serious as always, she nods her head before leaving. Heizou moves to stand beside you as you start tracing the words to become readable.
"Why are you touching the letters? You didn't recognize or read the words on the temple so how does touching it help?"
"To put it simply I can read the words easier after I touch them. But shouldn't you be on your way too? Don't think I've forgotten how beat up you are. Go see a professional before every medical building closes!"
"Man alive, are you trying to get rid of me so soon? Why I thought we bonded so well over our time together."
You know he's just playing and teasing but the answer you give is sincere.
"I did, I had a lot of fun. Despite how annoying you were at times, I really enjoyed playing around with all the questions and answers. But I would rather suffer through all this paperwork alone then let you stay with me as hurt as you are. So do us both a favor and see a doctor."
His eyes widen for a split second before settling into something calmer and sweeter. Have you truly bonded with him enough for him to let such a pure expression show?
"Since you were so honest with me, I'll go now."
You smile gratefully and are about to voice your goodbye before he pulls you close to him. You stand in a stupor as his chest presses against yours. His whisper is low and earnest.
"It was a pleasure to meet you Y/N. I eagerly await your next visit to Inazuma."
He releases you before walking away smoothly. Robotically you go back to the paperwork and fill it out. It's probably best to not take his words as anything deeper than friendly. Heizou has always been a flirty character, you were nothing special to him… right?
The stars are out by the time the paperwork is handed in and you have permission to leave. Not wanting to look at the identification card they gave you, you stuff it into your bag for later use.
The Alcor is huge, there is only one crew member awake on the deck and you climb the ramp to speak to him.
"Hello, my name is Y/N, this is the Alcor correct? Here is the fan I was told to show as my ticket." You give the fan to him as he stares at it tiredly.
"I never really expected someone to actually bring it at one point. You must be Lord Kamisato's guest of choice. Come in and enter the doors on the right. The voyage itself is 15 hours but taking into account other things, the trip will take a whole day. Go get some rest."
He gives you back the fan, and you nod in thanks. As you walk past him to the right side, a voice calls out to you from the docks. Curiously you go the railing and look down to see Yae there.
You frown in confusion at her appearance. She must have arrived after you put in the paperwork. Surely, she overhears what Heizou said. Even so, the sight of the sly kitsune makes you automatically stressed.
"Catch." Is your only warning before a small box is thrown towards you. Catching it swiftly, you open it to see a mask inside it. It's a gold accented fox mask specifically designed to only cover the top of your face. The shine and lack of marks make it clear how new and expensive it is.
"An apology for bringing up an uncomfortable subject to you in our conversation. The war has affected many people but it's those in your position that suffered in ways others have not. I hope that whenever you come back to Inazuma, you'll have a lighter heart."
You close the box and smile at her with gratitude. It's a perfect mask for that creeping feeling of dread. This is now the second mask you've obtained from stealing. This mask could have been something different for someone who actually suffered due to the war.
Silently you wave at Yae before she leaves without any other words. You watch her form disappear around a corner as whispers asking, "Where is Captain Beidou?" and "Did she drag Kazuha to drink with her again?" roll off you. You can deal with that later.
The walk to an empty room below the deck is a blur. Your few belongings are on the table as you lay on the bed. The Anemoboxer that you killed rises up in your mind like a tide.
They were kidnapping children, that should be enough justification for their death. You don't feel like arguing that point. You also don't feel like thinking on how you'll deal with any future Fatui members either.
Instead, you ponder about the sickle you used that was encased in electro. If you activate other Statues of the Seven, could you unlock other elements?
Those were the only thoughts you allowed yourself to think about as you gradually fell asleep.
Well this took a while. If anything I blame the fight scene and Heizou being flirty. I did use my decently built Heizou and fought that exact squad of Fatui. He defeated two before dying (it was raining) meaning the outcome of that fight isn't off. I'm experimenting with different yandere types and how the interact. I'm sure most people would write Thoma and Gorou acting nice and trying to one up each other by being kinder while keeping their rivarly secrect. But I thought it was funnier if they were outright hostile and were very bad at hiding it. In case anyone is wondering, I will not be writing full on smut. I'm not sure how far I'll take it in terms of stuff like making out but it'll probably never get past a kiss or two. Maybe I'll change my mind but never smut. I'm far too embarrassed for that.
I never realized just how many characters I had to write until I put the tags. I don't want to know how many words it is but it's 13k. Which is honestly pretty good, I was expecting like 15-16k. I'm very glad that I split the chapter. With Fontaine coming close and the trailer out, I'll probably spend more time playing to make up the primogems needed. Maybe more readers will join with the new hype or players will read less due to the new updates idk.

Introducing myself
Well this feels awkward •ᴗ•
I rarely make posts like these on any website but hey I gotta start somewhere, and having a blog was something that always interested me. Be it a hobby or something I can professionaly work with. And I do love yapping. So that's a big plus
Not but fr, who am I you might ask? Why am I introducing myself to the tumblr void?
Truth be told I am a silly little writer. Currently I post on A03 since I am hyperfixated on Genshin Impact, and I love love love writing. In fact I have wrote a couple of series now. Word count can reach up to 150k words. Crazy stuff.
Here are some fics I wrote that you might recognize or enjoy if you feel like looking into them!
A Puppet's Heart series
A series of 3 main books and one extra short fic, focused on Scaramouche x reader, sprinkle of Cynonari, and exploring friendships/tension between Wanderer, Cyno, Collei and Tighnari
Canon-compliant
<𝟑 The main 3 stories:
Lotus and it's Thorns
Blossom of the Divine
The Withered in Bloom
<𝟑 Extras/short fics (be warned that the second one is a smut)
1. Dendrobiums and Mourning Flowers
2. Darling (Don't order me around)
You can read the series here: Click me
A Loving Promise Series
A work-in-progress series, focused on Childe x reader, in which Childe is a bit yandere (ok maybe a lot yandere) and forced marriage is a big thing. Childe's lore is very impactful here, especially abyss stuff
Canon-compliant, will have multiple parts of the series
The Main story:
Ornament of Heart
You can read the series here: Click me
The Ghost of Inazuma
A standalone fic, focused on Kazuha x Kazuha's friend (Tomo) and detective Heziou. In this one Kazuha has a side-hustle as an assassin and things get very heated when the Tenryou comission starts hunting him down. Heizou is among them, of course, as a lead detective
You can the book here: Click me
Ambush and Revenge
A short whump fic centered around Heizou and the dangers of his job. He gets ambushed and hurt, and explores a bit of Heizou's friendship with Kujou Sara
You can read the fic here: Click me
Murder and Drama - A Midnight Case
A short detective fic about Heizou and the Arataki Gang, mostly focused on humor (wow me not writing hardcore angst?? shocker). The Arataki Gang gets framed for murder and Heizou has to solve the case with Itto's brilliant help (Itto lies when he is nervous).
You can read the fic here: Click me
In conclusion
As you can see I write a lot and yapp a lot, and if you enjoy my writing feel free to follow my tumblr blog. I want to write more and am thinking about opening comissions. So if you enjoy my writing style and ideas I would be more than happy to take requests! I generally have a lot of ideas/headcannons and thoughts to share about Genshin and their characters, even if its not related to my fics. Always happy to discuss stuff with people so don't be scared to share your thoughts or questions!
That is all for now! Thank you for taking the time to read my introduction <3

❝ I had really sweet dreams yesterday ❞ ─── rules!
RULES!
this blog will be only for fluff, angst with comfort/happy ending, maybe a bit of yandere and for fun since, for me, I don't want to mix up the two sides of ying and yang. or those who wants the opposite of it, I've already made a side blog, although, it needs some final touches.
please mention/say the gender of the reader in your request, either female or gender neutral! (apologies to those who wanted a male!reader, I'm still not yet ready, hopefully in the future I will)
I can only take up to 3-4 characters per request, there's honestly a lot of characters in the fandoms.
please don't request anything lewd, I'm still a minor.
with your request, you guys can detail it as much as you want since sometimes my brain just needs a head start to come up with a scenario/story.
please be respectful and patient with me, and anymore writers, since I also have a personal life out of social media.
your request can be either romantic or platonic.
also, don't forget to mention if you want headcannons, short scenarios, etc, etc. I don't write/tolerate anything disgusting or uncomfortable like incest, pedophilia, racism, etc.
If I may feel uncomfortable with any request, which is gonna be rare, I can always decline it.
FANDOMS!
