🦾​Edward refrains from touching you with his right arm. Not necessarily because he feels insecure about the fact that his right arm is made of metal but more so because he wishes to feel you when he touches you with his hand, a sensation that he will not experience if he were to use his right hand. Whenever he holds your hand, touches your face or pulls you closer to him it is in most cases with his left hand, warm with the blood flowing beneath the skin. It's very likely that his right arm possesses more strength due to being made out of steel, a strength he might not even be aware of until you notify him of it. He has a very short temper, his emotions easily flaring up and none of that is made better when his obsession is thrown into that mix. Whenever he feels jealous, angry, possessive or protective his steel arm tightens its hold. He has hurt you a few times as a result of this strength he has and it has made him only more aware and cautious to not use his right arm to touch you as he realises that he might hurt you. His left arm is for showing you affection, his touch gentle and loving. His right arm is used to defend you against bad people, his grip cold and harsh.

Ling said nothing. He was too busy watching you.

Your hair clung to your face, streaked with sweat and blood. You were breathing hard, but your stance never faltered. You’d nearly died protecting someone else.

“They’re ours,” Greed whispered.

Ling hated that it felt true.

“You’re safest here,” he told you, when you asked why you couldn’t leave. “There are people who’d kill to get their hands on someone like you.”

Because when he said it, his eyes were sad.

Ling, once respectful of your space, was now always near. Close enough to touch. His voice never left your ear, even when others were speaking.

When you spoke to someone else too long, Greed emerged. A flicker in the eyes. A coldness in the air.

“I don’t like how they look at you,” he would say, cracking his knuckles.

“They’re my friend.”

“They’re dead if they keep looking.”

Ling caught you in the courtyard, beneath the moonlight.

He looked… devastated.

“Why?” he whispered. “After everything?”

You didn’t answer.

You didn’t have to.

Greed did.

“You’re not going anywhere.”

His voice slid from Ling’s mouth like oil.

“You belong to us now.”

He wasn’t going to hurt you.

He was going to keep you.

Gilded in silks. Surrounded by beauty. Given everything except freedom.

“You should feel honored,” Greed said, brushing your hair from your face. “You’re the one thing we couldn’t take by force. The one thing we had to earn.”

“And we did,” Ling murmured, quieter, gentler. “We earned you.”

Ling’s voice trembled every time he brought you food.

Greed was more open. “Hate me all you want,” he said. “But you’ll never leave.”

Because they couldn’t lose you.

They wouldn’t.

They’d fought gods. Betrayed nations. Died.

And the only thing that ever made them feel alive… was you.

For a Chimera! [Reader], they would have to be something like a failed experiment of Father, or perhaps after he made the seven sins, he tried to make more, but could not.

Either way, you would have to know him.

To him, you're just a little baby! Just a lil' guy. They just love how small you are compared to him, [He made himself taller to be bigger than you], how you only spend time with him, [They makes everyone he can avoid you], but somehow you want to spend time with someone else? How could this be?

He would hate that you aren't attached to him like he's attached to you. To you, this is a brother who can transform into animals [typically foxes for you], and you like to play with him but want your own space. But to them? This is a crime, a travesty of the highest regard. So he would obviously fake something so that you would get into trouble by Father, who can catch on, but Father doesn't mind if it means Envy is a little more obedient. So they would make a deal with Father to be more obedient, putting all of his effort into whatever he [Father] wants, so that you suddenly get avoided by everyone who you love, except for him. <3 How could they all betray you? Well don't worry! Big Brother's here to help you feel better!

Envy would likely either make a deal with Father, or take matters into his own hands, although Lust or Wrath, maybe even Pride might find out about that and put an end to it, they like you too after all!

Pride would be Envy's biggest obstacle, since he has to act like a child all the time, he wouldn't mind putting on that persona near [you], which then you need to spend time with Pride, not Envy. It causes a rift between the two, furthering their dislike for the other.

Anyway. His overall feel for a chimera! Reader would be that he wants to be the only other sibling that you depend on, going as far as making a deal with the other sins and perhaps even Father.

Once they have the place to take you home, he's ushering you around, claiming you can't make it without him, embarrassing you to the point where you no longer want to try and go out to see the humans.

They treat you like a baby since you're not one of the main sins, and uses his infantilization of you to make it so you never want to leave Big Brother!

Walking over to one of the tables in the room, your gaze wandered over all of the papers. You felt a little overwhelmed by all of the papers.

Jumping as a loud thud rang out into the mostly quiet cabin. You quickly turned around and sighed just seeing a book that fell off the table.

Walking over to the book, you picked up the thick novel. It didn’t seem to have any title.

I love fma botherhood but I've got to say fma 03 Al was way more intense if you've seen conqueror of shamballa you know what I mean ed being in a different World/dimension did not stop him from finding him Al also copied his look in a way because he missed him I feel like 03 has a lot of ideas people could use for fanfics like it's not even funny how many good concepts there were that could have been executed better there wasn't a point to this other than I think fma 03 Al was a platonic yandere

i've been doing well this week, thank you for asking! i'm working on job applications which makes me lose my mind but at least i have my silly little stories to help stay sane. whew. and it's nice to see how passionate people are about FMA, i can see how its continued to resonate with people years after they've watched/read it. that's how you know it's something special.

the 'you'll defile me and insist it's worship' is actually my favorite line from the story, so i'm glad you like it too AAA 💖💖 because of scaramouche's obsession with the divine, i like to have him elevate his darling to that status. all the prose that can come about from that is an added bonus. it's a fun theme to work with.

i've vacillated over just how delusional yan scara would/wouldn't be... i think he might justify some of his actions at first, but would eventually acknowledge that his motivations are purely selfish in nature and kinda be at peace with it. since he's having a conversation with his subconscious here, this is the instant where that's happening. i can never decide if it's worse when the yandere deludes themselves into thinking what they're doing is for their darling's own good, or if they know it's detrimental for their darling and go ahead with their plans anyway hjrktm both are awful in their own unique ways...

Riza is the one who has taken over the task of reminding him whenever an important date gets closer and he has specifically asked her to do that for him because he would hate to let you down and make you feel like a special celebration to you is not important enough to stay on his mind. He likes to splash out quite a bit of money on Christmas as it is one of the few times of the year where you aren't able to protest too much against him gifting you something that is pricier. The first thing that you receive is a fancy piece of clothing that he has been eying for a longer while now, unable to stop thinking how good it would look on you. Accompanying his first present are a few pieces of jewelry to wear alongside with that outfit. He is almost tempted to ask you if you could put it on for him.

Edward Elric never believed he’d live to see triple digits. There had been too many battles, too much blood spilled, too many close calls. His younger self would’ve scoffed at the idea of growing old, wrinkled, and slow. But here he was.

Alone.

The years hadn’t been kind, but they hadn’t been cruel either. There was laughter. There were stories. There were children—his children. And then, their children. And their children. He had a family. A legacy. A home.

But all of it felt… hollow now.

Because you were gone.

You, his beloved. His swan.

The two of you had once been young and wild, navigating the uncertainties of life together with worn-out boots and a shared bedroll. You had seen his scars, physical and emotional. You had held him when the guilt for Alphonse’s fate was too much to bear. You had kissed the metal where his arm once was. You had danced with him barefoot in the rain.

But even swans grow old. And you had aged gracefully—smiling through each wrinkle, loving through each pain. Last year, in 2004, you fell asleep beside him, the way you always had.

You just… didn’t wake up.

They found him in his chair, still and peaceful. His lips held a faint smile. His hand held the picture of the woman they had only known through stories—the one who taught the Fullmetal Alchemist how to love.

And they cried, but it was a soft kind of sorrow. The kind that understands love doesn’t end. It just changes form.

That’s all he saw.

Then… warmth.

He opened his eyes and gasped softly, a weight lifting from his chest. His body—strong again. His limbs—whole again. His automail was gone. His youth had returned.

He looked down at his hands, then around the field he now stood in. It was familiar, but dreamlike. Soft golden light stretched across the horizon, trees swaying gently in the wind. It felt like the place he once saw in a dream, long ago.

Then—

“Edward.”

That voice.

His head snapped around, and there you were.

Just as he remembered you from the very beginning—radiant, alive, smiling just for him.

He didn’t hesitate. He ran, feet carrying him faster than he’d moved in decades. You met him halfway. Your arms wrapped around him, and his around you.

You laughed softly. He cried.

“I missed you,” he choked.

“I waited,” you whispered. “Just like we said we would. Like swans.”

He nodded, burying his face in your shoulder. “One can’t live without the other.”

And in that place beyond time, where swans sleep and hearts don’t break anymore, Edward Elric was finally home.

brother crab’s 2023 seasonals in review: summer

surprisingly easy to rank season for me, so i'll get right to it

anime of the season + runner-up for summer goes to...

undead girl murder farce and zom 100: zombie ni naru made ni shitai 100 no koto! nothing else even came close

i'm giving ugmf anime of the season because i personally vibed with it a lot (murder mysteries with a rakugo flair + arsene lupin trying to fuck the phantom of the opera in the background you really cannot go wrong) and also because zom100 has yet to release its last few episodes

zom100 is such a consistently solid show, though, that even without seeing the full cour i'm prepared to give it runner-up of the season. and it's honestly a strong contender for anime of the year. the first episode especially... i would rank it even higher than the first ep of oshi no ko tbh

lots of sequels this season as well!

horimiya, bleach, jjk, and bsd. some new snv came out this season as well but since i binged all that at once it doesn't really feel like a sequel to me

anyway easily sequel of the season goes to bleach, largely because of nostalgia won't deny that but also because it's just that fucking good

horimiya however was also an immense delight! gonna miss these wacky kids :')

quickfire thoughts on everything else:

watashi no shiawase na kekkon is the shoujo of the year, there's been a lot of cute stuff lately but nothing comes close to watakon

vending machine isekai was fine and occasionally funny, but kinda shocked it got a sequel announced already. worldbuilding was definitely the most interesting part and i hope we see more of it in s2

dekiru n eko way kyou mo yuuutsu was absolutely perfect, very fun and cute and soothing

okashi na tensei had a promising premise which it failed to lean into, there was little to no BAKING in this BAKING anime jfc

lv1 maou to one room yuusha seemed like your run of the mill shitty ecchi but actually it's NONBINARY OLD MAN YAOI?! and was kinda good. dumb, but fun

ai no idenshi was... well it was episodic which i like, generally, but it really. was not consistent. some good pieces, some not so good. some interesting, some not so interesting. main failing is it really did not imo balance its 'main' plot with its mini-stories well at all

ayaka was fun! it doesn't really hold a candle to k project like at all but at least it was not as bad as praeter lmao

synduality noir (first cour) was alright. nothing to write home about but a decent enough mecha. as far as anime that are game ads go... i'd say it's okay. a little more interesting than takt op to me, though not as visually stunning. and not as compelling as god eater

hyakushou kizoku was a tv short adapting arakawa hiromu's autobiographical farming manga and it was such a delight lol, especially fun if you're a fan of fma or silver spoon. explains so much about ed tbh

hi no tori: eden no sora was a 4-ep ona that i quite liked overall... ending was just so-so to me i guess

dark gathering isn't quite over still but it's fine as a horror that's heavy on the gore (gorror? is that a thing) actually. probably better than fine, it's just not my genre. some of the stories are definitely more gripping than others, but yeah solid horror overall and really good cast (yandere hanakana what could be better)

helck is also still going but has been really solid, way more enjoyable than i'd imagined. it has an 80s feel to it that i love

and last but certainly not least shuumatsu no valkyrie ii part 2 gives us GYARU FUCKBOI BUDDHA once again. what could be better lmao

MOVING ON

op of the season goes to zom100's song of the dead by kana-boon! the song itself is a banger and the way the op changes from episode to episode makes it even better

HOWEVER this was not an easy choice lol bleach and even jjk both came in with strong contenders as well

this was not a very blorbo or ship heavy season for me but i have to just repeat ARSENE LUPIN. AND THE PHANTOM. OF THE OPERA. one day i will circle back to this lol
