Hmm, there are quite a few things that have influenced my art over the years - illustrations for anime to manga and sequential illustrations by popular artists in Art History. One of the most important aspects for me in the process of developing my own art would be the need to do better. More elaborate. More complex. Until I defined my own style (it all starts with the horribly disproportionate and childish fanarts that any young potential artist creates at the beginning of his exploration), I longed for the idea of ​​reaching the most complex level possible. Of course this could not happen on the first try and it is certainly not necessarily a pattern for me at the moment - it took some time for me to understand that there are more ways to achieve complexity when we talk about visual art.

But let's move on to some examples.

✦ I think my first impulse towards visual complexity was given to me by the works of Shibamoto Thores, the artist who created the artistbook for Trinity Blood. Her illustrations fascinated me because every time I looked, I always found a new detail that had escaped my previous inspection. Her characters are intriguing by their posture, color shades and design and the very detailed backgrounds give a certain solemnity to the artworks. Her art also made me interested in the Gothic style.

✦ Another example in this approach is Ayami Kojima, who created illustrations and character designs for the video game Castlevania (Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, 1997). Her characters were drawn with an extraordinary elegance, which at the time I could only dream of; that's why I particularly liked her designs, which at the same time increased my fascination with the world of fashion design.

✦ The first mangaka I will mention is none other than Shin-ichi Sakamoto, who exploited his talent to the maximum in this project - and many others - "Innocent" (2013-2015), closely followed by "Innocent: Rogue" (2015 - 2020). The manga is a historical one, based on Masakatsu Adachi's book "The Executioner Sanson". The action takes place in France, before the French Revolution. I want to mention that the story is mature, being loaded with metaphors and various graphic scenes of torture, executions and sex. Sakamoto's art made me want to push my limits even more in terms of visual complexity. I mean, seriously, the man is a true master of details:

✦ Boichi is another top mangaka whose comic book projects have influenced my decisions throughout my artistic exploration. He started his career illustrating mature subjects (porn), which sometimes explains the fanservices in his projects, lol. Like Sakamoto, Boichi has a unique artistic style and an affinity for detail and semi-realism. Sun-Ken Rock is among my favorite stories he created. Besides this, I also liked "Origin" (2016-2019), "Wallman" (2013-2015) "Dr. Stone" (2017-2022, art only), "Raqyia" (2008-2010, art only).

✦ Yana Toboso is one of my favorite comic artists. I still remember the moments when I discovered Black Butler, haha. How nostalgic! The fact that the story is fantasy, which still incorporates a lot of Victorian elements - customs, food, clothing, etc - fascinated me so much that at one point I tried to create my own version that would include Victorian elements. Of course, it all ended in disaster, lol.

Among other manga works that have inspired me, especially in terms of details and fashion design, are:

New follower, what got you into the fox in the first place?

Since you're not specifying which fox I'll answer both-

Honest John- yknow I am *not* sure if the attraction was always there, but I was talking to a pair of friends of mine and I basically said "Honest John looking pretty fine as I get older." I decided to do the first redraw with a belly for him, and it just clicked.

Fellow Honest/Ernesto Foulworth- I saw his silhouette and was curious, then his design dropped. Yana Toboso- the mangaka of Black Butler- also does the art for Twisted Wonderland (and other things too). I've been a big fan of Black Butler around the time it was on the curry arc or so. Sebastian Michaelis is my favorite and means a lot to me. Fellow always feels like a mix of Sebastian Michaelis and Honest John to me, so I was practically doomed from the start. Once the first chapter dropped and got the info I needed I went right to drawing bellies for him.

Kalim Al-Asim Character Sheet

(Voted 12th-most-popular-character on the jpn server in a combination of seven different character-ranking surveys held throughout 2021)

Born into a wealthy merchant family, Kalim has royal relatives but is not, himself, a prince. He is extremely sociable, constantly inviting the members of other dorms to Scarabia parties and banquets regardless of seniority, with Malleus being the only fellow-student with whom he is unfamiliar.

We learn that Kalim will not eat anything that has not been personally prepared for him by Jamil, due to multiple attempts to poison him in the past, which Jamil and his father have told him is “the fate of the Asim family’s eldest son”. He does not prepare food for himself as he has promised Jamil that he will never try to work with fire or knives (an exception was made in the master chef event, as he was under the constant supervision of a professional chef).

After Jamil ate poisoned curry that had been meant for Kalim, curry became Kalim’s least favorite food and he refuses to eat it every again.

It is claimed by some that coconut juice—Kalim’s favorite food—can be used as an antidote to poison and adverse drug reactions (but this is just a character sheet, Toboso Yana is a mangaka and not a doctor, please do not ingest poison and then drink coconut juice).

Kalim was kidnapped constantly as a child (“more times than can be counted on two hands”). The never-ending attempts to murder him have left him with a particular appreciation for human life, and he becomes impassioned if someone around him expresses carelessness about their own life or that of others.

Kalim’s talent is “identifying poisons”, which we learn is a skill he gained because he wanted “to be able to enjoy eating delicious without being suspicious of the chef and everyone seated at the table”. Kalim explains that “Suppose the food-poisoner sees the error of their ways and realizes they've done something wrong. If I'm already gone, then that wouldn't do them any good, would it? I wouldn't want to deny something the opportunity to redeem themselves after recognizing the error of their ways. That would just be awful."

Kalim was not originally invited to attend Night Raven College and received his invitation a month after the school year had already begun, officially enrolling two months late. Kalim says that he believes that this might be why he is so different from the other students. In a flashback with Jamil, we learn that Crowley identified the opportunity get donations from Kalim’s family, and acted accordingly. Kalim’s father proceeded to rebuild the Scarabia Dormitory from the ground up once his son enrolled. Kalim’s mother is the only other magic-user in the family.

Night Raven College is the first school Kalim has ever attended, having been privately tutored (and looked after by the 100 servants employed at his family home) his whole life.

He has also been attended by Jamil ever since they were both children. When Riddle scolds Kalim for yawning during a housewarden meeting, saying that, were Kalim a Heartslabyul student it would be off with his head, Kalim responds with “Whenever i yawn in Scarabia, Jamil prepares my bed for me”.

Kalim is very much aware of Jamil’s impressive talents in looking after him, saying in his ceremonial robes card that Jamil is so much more capable and detail-oriented than him that he was certain that Jamil would be chosen as housewarden instead of himself. Jamil assures him that he, Jamil, is not fit to rule.

Floyd refers to him as “Otter”, for how he always looks so happy when he plays the drums. Rook calls him “Roi d’Or” (Golden King).

Kalim has no concept of the value of money, made worse by how all his purchases at the school store are billed directly to his parents. In a homescreen line he asks the player if they don’t need to buy new clothes, as the ones they are wearing have become dirty.

There is a treasure room in the Scarabia dorm that he refers to as “the storage room” that is overflowing with gold and treasure from his parents, and kept unlocked. The storage room also contains a flying carpet that he will lend to the school’s film club to use for aerial photography. It is said that he discovered the carpet in a similar storeroom at his home and was able to convince his father that carpet wished to be flying outside, not trapped in a room, and his father put it under Kalim’s care.

He does not seem to be, however, particularly talented at flying it: he loses control of it in Trey’s PE vignette and Trey ends up having to save him (as Jamil was still on his way) and in his own dorm vignette he falls off the carpet entirely, his life only being saved by Jamil’s magic and a convenient fountain.

His parents are described as “warm and kind” and he has between 30 and 40 younger siblings. This last detail was left out of the English-language translation of the game (seen above).

He is a member of the light music club with Lilia and Cater, where he plays the drums. He specifically plays the goblet drum but also the oud. According to the game guide, the only instruments he can play are those from the Land of Hot Sands, but with the release of his club wear card we see that he seems to become capable of playing on drum sets as well.

He also enjoys singing and dancing, with particular pride in his dancing abilities, although it seems that Jamil is actually the better dancer out of the two: during the Fairy Gala event Vil praises Jamil for covering for Kalim’s mistakes in his performance, and during Book 5 Jamil is selected as a lead performer, while Kalim is regulated to the backup team with Ace and Deuce.

Kalim claims this does not other him at the time, but later in the story the player comes across Kalim practicing his singing out of doors, late at night, and he admits to being upset that he was not chosen for lead.

It may be due to his position as an older brother than he is so caring and attentive to his lowerclassmen. In the Fairy Gala event he even offers to look out for Leona, an upperclassman.

He loves animals, and makes a reference to some people in his family being very fond of tigers in particular. When a Scarabia student comments on his ability to “manage” animals for a parade that he throws for Crowley, Kalim responds “It’s more than we understand each other. I’ve loved animals ever since I was little.”

While not official character information, Kalim’s voice actor Furuta Kazuki has shared some fascinating insight on his own personal interpretation of the character, saying, “He has a poison-tester present at his every meal, is well-guarded and actually—I think—lonely. Maybe that is why he’s so quick to throw banquets, and encouraging people to enjoy themselves?” and “I get the feeling that he always wants to enjoy himself in the moment, because there is always the chance that he might die the next day.”

He says he was instructed to “portray someone who is a good person while also including a dark shadow that exists behind his smile.”

Kalim’s unique magic is “Oasis Maker” (in Japanese: “Enduring Blessings”), and enables him to produce water in any quantity of his choosing with very little magical effort. Kalim mocks his own unique magic, however, acknowledging that in a day and age where everyone has access to running water everywhere, there isn’t much use for it, though it apparently tastes very good.

While obvious inspiration has been taken from the Sultan character in Disney’s Aladdin for Kalim, there are also many similarities between Kalim and “Sinbad”, the lead character in the Tokyo Disney Sea attraction Sindbad's Storybook Voyage.

While exclusive to Japan, the attraction qualifies Sinbad as a Disney character. He is a merchant with great respect for friendship and a connection to water. The attraction also involves “magical instruments” that are very similar to what Floyd and Jade describe receiving from Kalim on their birthday (learned through Floyd’s SSR card).

I'm trying to improve my art style, since I think that are some details that need to be fix, so I'm practicing and taking references from Hirohiko Araki and Yana Toboso (some of my favorite mangakas) I love their styles, they're so expresive and beautiful!! hopefully I'll learn from them.

Top five anime’s?

It’s quite challenging to restrict myself to just five, but I shall do my best!1. Death NoteThis was my “starter series,” without which I might never have ventured into the wonderful realm of anime and manga. I am fascinated by detective stories, moral ambiguity, and Faustian pacts, so it is little wonder that I took an instant liking to Death Note. Even after multiple viewings, the psychological cat-and-mouse games between L and Light still rivet me. The brilliant, inscrutable, unconventionally attractive, probably autistic and oddly endearing sleuth L currently ranks as one of my favorite fictional characters of all time. Although Death Note has its fair share of plot holes, messy writing (particularly in the second half), and unabashedly sexist portrayals of women, its depiction of complex ethical dilemmas and the battle between two formidable intellects make it worth a watch or five. I recommend the English dub; Alessandro Juliani’s L is pitch-perfect.

2. Shingeki no Kyojin (Attack on Titan)It may be a mainstream anime, but this is one of those rare shows that doesn’t merely live up to the hype but rather exceeds it. In brief, the anime depicts a bleak, violent world in which the remnants of humanity must live ensconced within the protection of massive walls in order to avoid being devoured by giants known as titans that mysteriously appeared several generations ago. When the outermost wall is breached, protagonist Eren Yeager can only watch in horror as his mother is eaten alive by one of these monsters, a tragedy that fills the fiery young boy’s heart with a thirst for vengeance against all titans. However, what could have proven to be a stale shonen story became a work of immense depth and power in the hands of mangaka Hajime Isayama, and these attributes translated beautifully to the anime. In addition to gorgeous animation and an electrifying soundtrack, this show also stands out for its character development. Almost all characters of narrative import are vibrantly human, with painful backstories and plausible, nuanced growth as the series progresses. Attack on Titan’s graphic depictions of violence and pathos-laden storyline are not for the faint of heart, but it is a must-see for any anime fan. Again, I prefer the English dub, mainly because of Levi’s and Hange’s voice actors.3. Kuroshitsuji (Black Butler)Specifically, the first half of season 1, Book of Circus, Book of Murder, and Book of Atlantic.I refuse to dignify the non-canon dumpster fire that was season 2.Don’t let the lascivious fujoshis scare you away; despite its unsavory reputation, the portions of the anime that adhere to Yana Toboso’s gorgeous manga are excellent. Though a mere child, Earl Ciel Phantomhive bears a heavy burden as the Queen’s Watchdog, responsible for keeping Victorian England’s sinister underworld in check. Luckily, he has the aid of his ever-faithful butler, Sebastian Michaelis…who just so happens to be a demon with whom the young nobleman has contracted in order to find and exact vengeance upon the unknown perpetrators who murdered the boy’s family and sold him to a diabolical cult. The series is called Black Butler with good reason– there are many dark and disturbing elements to the story, from the bloodcurdling child abuse depicted in Book of Circus to gory fight scenes with zombies in Book of Atlantic. However, the compelling characters, fire OPs and endings, and (in the more recent adaptations) beautiful animation keep me coming back for more. The complex nature of Sebastian’s relationship with Ciel, which simultaneously encompasses and transcends the dynamics between parent and child, servant and master, and predator and prey, is a glorious trainwreck from which you can’t tear your eyes away. Yet again, I have a preference for the English dub here– J Michael Tatum’s Sebastian is the stuff of legend, Brina Palenica’s Ciel is spot-on, and Daniel Frederick’s Grell Sutcliff restores my soul (to my ear, his voice acting beautifully suits a transgender woman who has not yet been able to fully transition). That being said, I’ve also taken a shine to the Japanese sub; Daisuke Ono’s voice has a gentle yet subtly sinister quality that suits this devil wrapped in silk quite well.4. Watamote (No Matter How I Look At It, It’s You Guys Fault I’m Not Popular!)This slice of life anime chronicles the hilarious yet heartbreaking misadventures of Tomoko Kuroki, an otaku who desperately attempts to curry favor with her high school peers in spite of debilitating depression and anxiety. Watamote is one of those shows that makes you hurt while you laugh as you watch Tomoko, time and time again, prove to be her own worst enemy as her blunders cause all her schemes to backfire. To an uncomfortable extent, I saw quite a bit of my high school self in her. If you struggled with loneliness, social isolation, and/or mental illness as a teen, I would highly recommend this show. It doesn’t exactly have a happy ending, but it’s strangely addictive. Plus, Tomoko’s Japanese voice actor is precious, and the OP is epic.5. Bungou Stray DogsMix a wide array of supernatural gifts, a plethora of literary references, and a vast cast of aesthetically pleasing characters, and what do you get? BSD! Chock-full of meaningful messages on overcoming past traumas, fighting against the inertia of despair, cultivating a sense of self-worth, and redemption, this anime does full service to Asagiri’s ongoing manga. From the zany suicide enthusiast Dazai Osamu to the weretiger/cinnamon roll Atsushi Nakajima, you’re bound to fall in love with at least one of the members of the Armed Detective Agency as they use their magical powers to fight against forces of crime and corruption that threaten their city. Excellent soundtrack, lovely animation, and characterization that progressively deepens, especially during the second season. I’ve only seen this subbed and thoroughly enjoyed it!Thanks so much for the ask!

godDAMN Kuroshitsuji/Black Butler, you’re getting dark as fucking hell! arrrrgh I LOVE THIS SERIES SO MUCH JFCCCCC it’s so wonderful! Which is a super weird thing to say after the latest, horrifying chapter - but it was also something I’ve been pretty sure for a long time happened so it didn’t come as a surprise, sadly, that it happened, although she did draw a little more of it than I expected her to show on page. Which is actually kind of nice in that this way as readers we know for a fact what exactly happened, but at the same time -- godDAMN BLACK BUTLER/KUROSHITSUJI YOU ARE DARK AS FUCKING HELL JFC

But seriously you guys if you are NOT reading Black Butler/Kuroshitsuji I 100% recommend it. It’s one of my favorite series currently, along with (of course) One Piece, Noragami, Barakamon, Handa-kun, uhh lots. But Black Butler is incredible because the art is just so fucking ridiculously gorgeous, and the attention to detail is goddamn insane. There are so many tiny little things you may gloss over the first read that later when you get more information and you look back you’re like, holy shit, the fucking sweep of hair here is actually really incredibly important, or the way that panel fades into black in this area, or the way this person is standing in this panel hides or shows exactly what you do or don’t need to see at that time of the story.... The official art is just as ridiculously beautiful and detailed. It’s just. Completely fucking insane. I don’t know of any other manga series I’ve followed for so long that is that consistently detailed and gorgeous as hell, like the level of detail and art you usually only get in one-off art pieces because the mangaka has more time to focus on it, not like every freaking panel in every freaking page in every freaking chapter, 135 chapters in. Seriously wtf??

The thing about BB/K is that it has really great characters who are very nuanced (even though half of them at first you’re like, who the hell are these fools?? even if they’re endearing lol) and the two main characters, Ciel and Sebastian, are just, UGGGGGHHH THEY’RE SO GREAT GODDAMNITTTTTTT They’re this perfect mixture of snarky, snipey, manipulative, but also super competent, really intelligent, and sometimes vulnerable and cute. Well, Ciel is always cute but that’s because he’s adorable in terms of his looks, but particularly when you start the series, it’s a delight to see how “evil” he sometimes seems inside because he’s so cute on the outside.

I will say, if you’re anything like me, as you read you’ll be like, “what the hell is with these random ass arcs?? They’re so all over the place with practically nothing to connect them!” I mean, I enjoyed them, but it also seems super wtf?? at times lol 

BUT, when you get far enough into the story, you realize some Big Fucking Shit that makes a HUGE difference in the way you see the story. And when you go back and reread, you notice all these details that tell a whole other story in the background, and suddenly there’s a lot more method behind the madness of the various arcs. I had noticed many of the oddities along the way but the thing that’s so well done about the story telling on this manga is that you always come up with a justification in your mind for this or that, and it makes total sense based on assumptions made about what probably happened in the past to lead to this or that circumstance. But once you know for sure on certain things, some of the assumptions turn out to be absolutely accurate, and other assumptions turn out to tell an even more heartbreaking story than originally assumed. And initial assumptions are already pretty dismal.

I feel like it also does a great job of keeping it always on the line like, is Sebastian more dangerous at Ciel’s side or not? Is he the “person” Ciel can trust the least or the only “person” he can trust at all?

I have SO MANY THINGS I want to talk to people about for Kuroshitsuji!!!! No one else I know is reading it up to date so I can’t theorize with anyone T_T If anyone is reading it up to date and wants to talk about it pleassssssseee I will totally talk to you! I had some newer theories I’d developed several chapters ago and the latest chapter (135) verified a few of them. So now I wonder if anyone else thinks a certain thing I think or if I’m alone on my island on this. But I can’t theorize about it at all with anyone who isn’t up to date because otherwise MAJOR FUCKING SPOILERS AHOY LIKE HOLY FUCK. 

So if you’re up to date on Kuroshituji/Black Butler and want to talk theories message me please!!!! Or some other way let me know! I want to talkkkkk T___T If you reply in this thing with a comment about the series, can you just start it with SPOILER so that anyone else just getting into BB/K knows to avoid your comment? I already loved the hell out of this series but rereading it recently after the major discoveries/verifications of the past few chapters has only made me love it even more. Fucking TOBOSO Yana is amazing. And I really respect her for how hardcore she’s willing to be in telling this story. Because let’s be real, if you’re writing a story about a devil who’s a butler of the boy whose soul he’s waiting to eat, it should probably be a pretty fucked up story to be as “realistic” as that sort of story can be. And holy shit. She is definitely going that route. jesus.

What are the things you love the most about Fellow? Also, what's your ideal date scenario with him? :)

Honestly everything about him. I think he has an amazing character design and how you can find so many references to Honest John and the Pinocchio story in him and his outfit (like the patterns on the patches of his pants are pretty clever), his personality where he's still a snarky little fuck no matter what happens and his angry outburst was amazing and his interaction with Gidel was sweet and funny(also points for the reference when Gideon hits Honest John with a mallet), then the fact that my favorite mangaka (Yana Toboso, the creator of my favorite manga Black Butler) is behind it, and she does great character and outfit designs. The way his model moves has a weird appeal to me, despite never playing the game, but I've seen how the others move and I prefer his model, but I'm bias as fuck.

Ideal date? I've... had thoughts of him taking me to an *actual* Italian restaurant (not Olive Garden, I'm looking at you @askbloatedbellyblog lol love ya buddy), or an Italian Deli, and he and I just talk about whatever and get absolutely **stuffed** to where our bellies are bloated. He possibly talks about how each Italian dish is made and how wonderful it tastes. He might even talk about his cons and how much rich people suck, which I agree to. We might even go grab some dessert or eat all the desserts the place we have gone to offers.

There's also just him and I hanging out somewhere, like a water park or we go on a picnic. Maybe he and I go to the mall or wander downtown where he would no doubt be shoplifting while I actually buy my shit.

Her questions:

1) Have you traveled somewhere recently and where?

In september I traveled to Sinaia (a.k.a. my favorite place in Romania). I miss it very much rn.

2) What literary genre do you prefer reading?

I dunno if i am picky, but I prefer to read fiction which has a combination of genres. I consider a book very good if it has lots of action, mistery, some gore and romance and characters I can relate to (if the characters are not well written, especially the protagonist, then it is a real chance I won’t finish the book)

3) Name your favorite recipe.

Pancakes with nutella and bannanas is something I think everyone knows how to make, so this is a recipe for my favorite romanian classic

CIORBĂ: it is like a sour soup and for this one i recommend the version with chicken wings and lemon (sounds weird, but it is delicious and hearthy)

In a pot (5L) boil about 8-10 chicken wings in about 3L of water or a bit more (you need to remove whatever you don’t like from it except the skin beforehand)

Then, you can start dicing 3-4 carrots, a big onion, a medium sized celery root, 1-2 bell peppers (whichever colour you prefer), a medium sized potato and add them to the pot. When the veggies are soft you can add diced canned tomatoes (about half a can or enough to give it colour) or you can use 4-5 fresh ones (also diced). If the water is reduced to half the pot you must add some more until the pot is at least 3 quaters full.

At the end you must add the juice of 2 lemons (my avice is to add half, let it simmer a bit, then add salt to taste. If it seems like there is not sour enough of salty enough add to taste so you can adjust it to your taste).

And that it is!

This recipe is the universal and healthy version and my favorite. Here in Romania (and I suppose in Rep. Moldova and some areas in the neighboorhooding countries they have this thing too) we usually use borsh to make it sour (no, not the thing made in Russia), but you can’t find it in other corners of the world, but lemon juice is a great substitute, i swear!

4) What’s the best side of your favorite character?

I have many, many faves, but today I’ll pick Darrow from The Red Rising Trilogy. I love Darrow because I see myself in him most of the time and I can’t really say he has a best part and a worst part. 

But I admit he is a great leader and his leadership skills, his power and determination are what drive the plot most of the time.

5) (related to n.4) What’s the worst side?

He has none. He is as perfect as his significant other

Ok, maybe people might say that his rage is a curse. That he burns out too quickly. But I love his rage and he does not burn out, because everyone around him is there to make sure he does not. (that and the fact that Mustang did not allow him to die and Sevro will litterally drag his arse from the Vale).

6) Why did you join Tumblr?

I was in the naruto fandom at the time and I loved many artists from the fandom (I still do) so I made a tumblr in order to show my appreciation for art and fanart and funny posts and so on. Then I became a multi-fandom blog because I can’t keep to one thing only and that’s it.

I know I am a trash blog, but hey, it is a healthy form of escapism so I won’t search the gift horse at the teeth.

7) Name five things you usually enjoy irl.

Reading, eating, traveling, cooking delicious food, listening to music.

8) What did you dream last night (or enventually, what is the dream you remember better lately)?

i dreamt of a window sill and a rainy day and a good book (I need a break from Uni)

9) What’s you favorite TV show and why?

I dunno if i have one. I was into TVD until I got tired of the writers shitting on Damon’s character (dude, they even made Klaus prefer Stefan like WTF). I watched the ending for old time’s sake and I was ok with it. Then me and sis liked Game of Thrones, because of the complexity, the magic, the mind games, the world etc. But I don’t consider it a favorite…it’s weird, but there are a lot of flaws i can’t get over. (And i am not reffering to its relation to the books)

10) Who is your favorite mangaka (or author, if you don’t read manga)?

My favorite mangaka is Yana Toboso, because she is amazing and attentive to details and has hands down, the best style and is a great writer too. i also like Hiro Mashima, because he and his editors always delivered a ton of chapters pretty quickly and his mangas always make me laugh and feel actual happiness.

I love Hino Matsuri’s style a lot, but she is not as great with the writing part, in my opinion.

11) If you had the chance to ask only one wish to the genie, what would you ask?

I’d wish my sister to have a happy and long life.

BIG REC MASTERLIST

Ok so... I’ve been reading fanfiction since I was still a fetus, and by that I mean I was 11 to 12 years old by the time. Also, I have read plenty of books too, and manga.

So I thought, why don’t make a recommendation?? Of all I’ve ever read and I can’t get out of my head? 

So, for ANYONE out there, you could find something interesting here. If not, this will be purely for self indulgence then.

B O O K S

Pride and Prejudice. - Jane Austen.  What can I say about p&p? I was fluctuated with the 2005 movie adaptation since I was 10 years old. And while I don’t tent to read the books when I’ve already watched their movies, I simply had to. And BOM! favorite book has been stored. 

The time traveler’s wife. -  Audrey Niffenegger. I bought this at a bookfair because I thought it was from a movie I had seen the promotionals for... figures out I was wrong, but this had me crying one summer afternoon. Since then I love time traveling-related books. And the movie? amazing.

Brida. - Paulo Coelho.  This made me the bookworm I am nowadays. I like to thank my abuela for that. This book is magic, and one of the reasons I’m such a hopeless romantic who believes in fate and soulmates. I can’t help it. Tho this is not the only good book from Paulo Coelho and not the only one I LOVE, this is by far my most favorite and it was my first from him.

Aristotle and Dante discover the secrets of the universe - Benjamin A. Saenz. Oh boy... this was the first book I read in english. It is special. It has a space in my heartsoul. I can’t remember how many times I have re-read it (and I don’t tend to do that) I find myself taking it from my bookshelf and searching for a specific scene so I can fall in love with it again. This is gold, it is a treasure, and when the day comes and a movie adaptation comes out I’m gonna die. 

The book thief. - Markus Zuzak. This book was so precious that I had to stop mid-way through reading the e-book version to wait half a year a buy a physical copy. This book is meant to be read while you can touch it, toss it, let your tears flow over its pages... just to enjoy the experience. I came for this book after I was reading such a good written fanfiction and the author claimed that they’ve stolen the writing style from this book. I DO NOT REGRET IT. You won’t either.

Daughter of Smoke and bones triology. -  Laini Taylor. It has been 4 years and I haven’t read the last one yet. But I love this. I love the protagonist. Reincarnation is on the list of things I freaking love about fiction and this book has it. Also, it’s the kind of book that makes you want to wish you could live in their fictional world. Just amazing. And the author?? is a ray of sunshine?? I love her.

The lux saga. - Jennifer L. Armentrout. These books made me go insane and stay up to morning. Kinda cliché-ish if you look too much into it. But that doesn’t stop them from being amazing. Hot aliens at the order. Main protagonist is relatable and a badass... why not?

The mortal instruments. - Cassandra Clare.  EVERYONE knows TMI by now. But these books made me the 18 year old I am. While Shadowhunters is like a canon divergence to the books -and don’t get me wrong I LOVE THE SHOW-, but the books? they’re gold. All the shadowhunters verse is amazing, but tmi is the life changing. I waited for the last two books to come out so it was torturing, but you can go and read them and enjoy the ride because there’s still more to come!!

Jackass! - Sawatte Ii tte Dare ga Itta yo? - Scarlet Beriko. This manga makes you love legs. LEGS LEGS LEGS. Also, Scarlet Beriko’s art style is to be put into a museum and be looked at for all day long. Friends to lovers and that’s it. SHOUNEN AI if you want it to be.

Yondaime Ooyamato Tatsuyuki. - Scarlet Beriko. This is some good shit. GOOD ART. AMAZING BODIES. LOOK AT THAT SEME. HE IS SO CUTE?! Yakuzas. Did I mention the uke being a yakuza? well he is. One con of this manga? CW dubious-consent and rape at some point but with bl one kind of gets along with it (not that it is a good thing). Still a good manga. YAOI because yes.

Doushitemo Furetakunai. - Yoneda Kou. I cried. That’s it. IT HAS A LIVE-ACTION MOVIE??!! YES?! Cute, cute all over. SHOUNEN AI.

Udagawachou De Mattete Yo. - Hideyoshico. Enjoy how a boy loves wearing dresses and make-up because he slays with everything he puts on! and then succeeding at accepting himself. Also... IT HAS A LIVE-ACTION MOVIE TOO!??! YES! SHOUNEN AI.

Hana no mizu shiru, Hana no migoro ni, Hana no miyako de. - Takarai Rihito.  I fell in love with Takarai Rihito thanks to this. I seem to keep forgetting the exact order to read all three of them, but boy at one point you’ll cry if you figure that out. SHOUNEN AI.

Yuki No Shita No Qualia. - Kii Kanna.  I’m gonna be honest and say I don’t remember anything about this manga. The art style got me and that’s it. Maybe the story did it too and that’s why I have it on my fave list but... I must have read it too early in the morning and forgot everything ‘bout it. Thing is, if I binge-read-it it certainly is good. SHOUNEN AI for sure...(?)

Me o Tojite 3-Byou. - Aniya Yuiji.  You looking for: Good art style? Checked. Angst? Checked. Childhood friends to lovers? Checked. Then I got you some news!!! this is pure as the purest cinnamon roll (at least until you read the smutty doujinshi but that comes later) and If you’re feeling like the world sucks you should read this cup of happiness. SHOUNEN AI.

Yozora no Sumikko de. - Hayakawa Nojiko. This is beautiful. Hayakawa Nojiko’s art style is precious. And this artwork is amazing. The story is full of angst and makes you go YeSSsyyYeSSSss all over. Read it. READ IT. SHOUNEN AI.

Konbini-kun. - Junko. I miss Junko. At least her bl works. She’s by far one of my faves mangakas just because she draws such cute boys I can’t help but love all of them. This story in specific is just perfect. Bullying, the character being actually gay since the beginning, and him coming to terms with it. I just love it. YAOI If you know Junko you know it.

Sora to Hara. - Nakamura Asumiko. L O V E THIS MANGA OK? I’M WAITING FOR A MOVIE ADAPTATION JUST AS DOUKYUUSEI GOT ITS OWN. MY SONS DESERVE IT. This manga is so pure, so full of happiness, so fulfilling, you’ll feel over the moon in love with the characters. Also... SUPER HAPPY ENDING?? YESS! SHOUNEN AI.

Elektel Delusion. - Yonezou Nekota. If I don’t remember wrong this was one of the firsts bl mangas I ever read. And I love it. It has a place in my heart. Well deserved. I must say it is a classic? Fumi is the man we all deserve but don’t get to own. ever. YAOI.

XXX Allergy. -  Hinohara Meguru. A recently-added to my faves mangas. This is so cute. The seme is long-haired... that’s it. Cute history and they love each other. What else do you need? SHOUNEN AI.

Mou Ichido, Nando Demo. - Aniya Yuiji.  Memory loss. Angst. Smut. Aniya Yuiji. Another reason to live for. Just cry and enjoy the ride. ALSO, REVERSIBLE COUPLE!!! HELLO???!!1 YES!!!! GO JAPAN GO!! YAOI.

Lonely To Organdy. - Ogeretsu Tanaka. I just love angst, ok? HAVE SOME. GET A BITTERSWEET ENDING. ENJOY IT AND KEEP ON LIVING KNOWING THIS ENDED UP LIKE THIS, WHAT ELSE DID YOU EXPECT? Some ghosts, some dreams, two boys... yep. SHOUNEN AI.

Veranda Nite. - Ichikawa Kei. Back at it again with the ghosts? Yes. I love Ichikawa Kei for a reason yet she hasn’t gotten me at her will (completely) yet. Nevertheless, this is awesome. I don’t remember the ending but it is a one-shot. SHOUNEN AI. 

Hana wa saku ka. - Hidaka Shoko. This is the definition of SLOW BURN. The very definition. Good art. Amazing plot. Great characters... the bl manga you needed and now you know. GO! READ! IT! It is so long you grow up with it but you won’t regret it. SHOUNEN AI (at least until they finally do the do but it is a the very end)

YATAMOMO. - Harada.  Harada scares me. But I had to give her a try (for a third time) and this is what I found. A deep plot, and good character development. Momo is the kind of ukes I love and want to protect. YAOI.

Watashi ga motete dousunda! - Junko. I’m hating the protagonist by the moment but... reverse harem. She’s a fujoshi and by being lucky she’s now with one of the best guys to ever exist in fiction. God blessed her and I want that kind of spell over me too. Funny times at the order. SHOUJO. ON GOING.

Haikyuu!! - Furudate Haruichi.  WHO DOESN’T KNOW HAIKYUU?? GO WATCH ALL THREE SEASONS! WATCH THE OVAS! READ THE MANGA! ENJOY ADOPTING OVER 500+ SONS. You won’t hate anyone, it is impossible. SHOUNEN. ON GOING.

Kuroshitsuji. - Yana Toboso. This manga is fresh, its art style is amazing, the plot would make you go :O!! and right now is the best moment to apply for this ride because it sure is a rollercoaster. SHOUNEN. ON GOING.

Kiben Gakuha Yotsuya Senpai no Kaidan. - Furudate Haruichi. I don’t know why I read this, or when... but it is amazing. I love Furudate Haruichi’s art style and this was my way of getting more full of it besides from Haikyuu!! Mystery solving is always interesting. SHOUNEN. COMPLETE.

CODA. -  Hitoshi Ichimura. Yuri!!! on ice from 2010. But instead of ice skating it is ballet and more of an open ending than rings that prove you’re a canon couple. It’s cute, you ship the characters and it doesn’t harm anyone. Read it, more people should love it. SHONEN. GENDER BENDER. shOujo?? COMPLETE.

Tokyo Ghoul - Ishida Sui. I only know my first son TG. I finished my friendship with TG:RE. What will happen to my dearest Kaneki Ken who should be protected at all costs? who knows. The manga is amazing, the anime not so much. SHOUNEN. COMPLETE.

Strobe Edge. - Sakisaka Io. I hate the ending. I hate the main characters. I love angst so I fell in love with Endou, the third wheel the other love interest of the protagonist and THE REAL GOOD BOY HERE HE DESERVED BETTER. SHOUJO. COMPLETE.

Shingeki no Kyojin. - Hajime Isayama. You know the one. Titans. Blood, sweat and tears but without good dancing. The manga is good is2g go and read it and enjoy the cliffhangers and lots of questions. SHOUNEN. ON GOING.

Yep, I read more yaoi manga than other genres... I’m a fujoshi I know that.
