So @yamelcakes was saying something about Irina listening to Margo and Sergei's phone calls and it really makes sense that she would because there is a very small circle of people who would understand what they were talking about and could check that Sergei was being truthful and that Margo wasn't passing bad information and apparently Irina has that skill set.

And I started thinking about how Irina could have fallen in love with Margo's mind, too. But where Margo and Sergei are in it for scientific inquiry and to get to Mars, Irina is much more wanting to use that knowledge to acquire power and for nationalism.

It just makes everything more fraught and Irina knows Margo's weaknesses and even though Margo's got her guard up she has to wonder even more just what was genuine from Sergei and what was manipulation.

OR NOT. WHATEVER. I AM BAD AT THIS.
