“Megaton-kyuu Musashi” The Second Season of Announced for Fall 2022

The Megaton-kyuu Musashi (Megaton Musashi) multimedia project's official website announced a second season for the television anime. The new season will debut in the fall of 2022.

Level-5 debuted a new trailer and gameplay for cooperative robot action RPG Megaton Musashi as part of Jump Festa 2021 Online.

The official Jump YouTube channel also uploaded a 50-minute “Megaton Musashi Jump Festa 2021 Special Theater” video, which features a quiz with voice actors Toshiki Masuda (voice actor for Yamato Ichidaiji), Souma Saitou (Teru Asami), and Shunsuke Takeuchi (Ryugo Hijikata), as well as additional gameplay and information. The Special Theater presentation reveals the following new information:

Level-5's Mixed Media Project Megaton Musashi Gets TV Anime on October 1

    Level-5 announced today that a TV anime series from its mixed-media project Megaton Musashi is set to premiere on TOKYO MX and BS Fuji on October 1, 2021. As the company's fifth mixed media project, it was revealed in July 2016 and its video game for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5 has also been in the eworks.

  Shigeharu Takahashi, who worked on the four Yo-kai Watch films from 2014 to 2019, is attached to direct the TV anime at OLM. Akihiro Hino, President and Representative Director of Level-5, will serve as the series composer. 

    Synopsis:

  In an ordinary town, there are people who live a peaceful and fulfilling life. But they don't know that it is a false peace. The untold truth... The earth has already been destroyed... 99.9% of the human race has been wiped out by a mysterious alien force from outer space. The enemy is named "Dracters." Eventually, a large hole was drilled in the earth and terraformed into a suitable environment for the aliens to live. Humans have no choice but to hide in shelters to escape their eyes. Waiting for the day of resurrection, which they do not know when it will come... The inhabitants of the shelter Ixia have had their memories of the day of destruction erased, and live a normal life without knowing anything about it. However, some of them, the "chosen ones," have become pilots, driving giant robots called "Rogue" and fighting against aliens. Today, another new pilot is selected...

■ About

Destroy Alien Invaders in this Cooperative Robot Action RPG

Developed in collaboration between Weekly Shonen Jump and Level-5, Megaton Musashi is an upcoming cross-media project. The game is a cooperative robot action RPG feature online battles where players control a giant robot. Pilot a robot created through a concentration of Earth technologies and fight alongside friends against alien invaders.

—Join forces with friends in battles against huge enemies. Utilize your robots special traits such as attack, defense, and recovery to carry out various strategies. Dialogue scenes between characters also occur in battle.

■ Robots

Musashi

Musashi is the strongest giant robot created through a concentration of Earth technologies. Its body stands over 60 meters tall and has a combination of three modules.

In addition to standard attacks such as its Photon Revolver, it also has a special weapon called the Defusion Blaster that it fires from its chest.

Gaudia

A support-type rogue that specializes in long-range combat.

Sparkman

A melee-type rogue that specializes in close-range combat.

Combine Parts

Freely combine parts to customize your very own robot. There is an infinite amount of potential combinations.

■ Story

This is a story about mankind’s counterattack to take back Earth from alien invaders.

In the year 2118, mysterious alien invaders called “Dracters” suddenly invaded the planet. Within a matter of days, they gained total control of Earth.

Earth was gouged out into the shape of a donut, and the planet became an alien nest. The humans that evacuated to the “Shelter,” a high-defense residential facility, planned their counterattack.

It was their last hope. The power to oppose the overwhelmingly huge arsenal of the alien invaders.

…its name was Musashi. A Megaton-class giant robot.

■ Characters

In order to take back Earth, three “Megaton-class problem children” that carry the burden of the planet’s future were entrusted with piloting the giant robots.

Yamato Ichidaiji (voiced by Toshiki Masuda) The Sinful Fighting Fiend

An utmost psychopath. When he grabs the robot’s control stick, his personality changes. He possesses high aptitude as a pilot, such as good judgment and reflexes.

Teru Asami (voiced by Soma Saito) An Elitist Without Compassion

A coldhearted narcissist. His grades are the top of his class. Calm, cool, and collected, he shows no weakness.

Ryugo Hijikata (voiced by Shunsuke Takeuchi) A Fiery and Powerful Boss

A quick-tempered and hot-blooded boss-like character. While he often gets riled up, he is actually a reliable leader who looks after his own.

Megaton Musashi is in development for PlayStation 4, Switch, iOS, and Android with an unannounced release window. The Switch version is currently playable at Jump Festa 2020, which runs from December 21 to 22 at the Makuhari Messe in Chiba, Japan.
