also while i’m here i have this very specific vision of post canon sparrow that i Know anthony is not going to give me but a guy can dream anyways i was gonna write it but i got overtaken by. other brainworms so i thought id share with the class:

in my head, the self isolation of the timeout dimension cells would do all of the kiddads pretty well in terms of like, how much self reflection can be done there? and i think it would affect sparrow the most simply because of the events leading Up To the imprisonment- aka, reuniting with henry, normal expressing that he’s still more or less unwilling to talk to sparrow without bias, and getting the code purple flashbacks without any communication afterwards all serving to triple whammy sparrow in the face he has a lot of self reflection he could do (i say this so tentatively, i KNOW anthony is not going to care).

and of my own personal opinion, i really do believe sparrow could come out of that experience WANTING to be better. he’s already shown a lot of growth through the season (no matter how much yall refuse to acknowledge it) and while he doesn’t see code purple as a wrongdoing i think he’d be very willing to admit that it Hurt people and if given the chance he’d like to make amends.

my vision for post canon sparrow? he’s on a quest of redemption. he knows very intimately that the world being so fucked up is his fault and therefore his responsibility to fix, and i’ve been very passionately envisioning him reconnecting with his druidic self, finding his wildshape again and also his magic entirely and using it to help fix the world. and he does so alone- at least, without lark and without the teens, because he thinks this is something he needs to do alone. there are some really fun spells i think could help him in this quest depending on his circle, but that’s irrelevant.

that’s MY goal for sparrow, what i would end his story with: rebuilding faerun, reconnecting with himself to show the growth he’s already had, reconnecting with henry and slowly mending his relationship with normal along the way. i think it could be really good for him!

But yes I do acknowledge he does have anger issues and that it is borderline concerning if he were to ever enter another relationship he may need to consider handling his emotions and anger better

I see comments on pinterest (cuz its all I ever use tbh) that he’s manipulative of Sophie’s feelings and I don’t know about this and there are times I think he has done that but I think it isn’t intentional and he would never mean to hurt Sophie in that kind of way

Alvar really pisses him off that’s for certain

I think in his early life (before Sophie) he has depended on Keefe for emotional support and so has Keefe so I definitely see the bromance

Most noticeably he’s more hung on about Cognates than anything really and Alvar

He actually does care what people think of him

And yes, before no he didn’t but that’s before he started blaming himself for permanently destroying his family’s reputation and respect

His family is a huge huge deal in the Lost Cities and to be tarnished due to Alden’s secret research, Alvar being part of the Neverseen, his two other children running away to join a rebellious group (as far as the public’s aware), being the only two Vacker children who ever attended Exillium, and the freaking Legacy; there was definitely a toll on him

Which is why he thought it was best he wouldn’t marry an Unmatchable in order to restore the family name

But Sophie going against Cognate stuff and not telling him who her mother was also had an effect in their relationship break

And that Sophie was really slowing the pace of their relationship

Which I don’t blame her for btw none of us really can

The Vacker Legacy

He loves his family but damn is their legacy a pain in the ass

Headcannon that he goes to his sister for love advice on how to help their relationship and she’s more involved than she’s comfortable with

His dad really spoiled him (I’m sorry but I dont think I like him very much)

Maybe a tad bit egotistical with him being the earliest to manifest (before) and being a very powerful Technopath at a very young age and ofc he’s a Vacker

He might as well have been the rich extroverted student council president of the school

And yes some of these aren’t very positive descriptions which is why I’ll end it with

He’s loyal. Incredibly loyal. His family, his friends, his Cognate, if they’re in trouble, expect he’ll be there for you when it counts; you might expect him to be really blunt and hurtful at times but he really doesn’t mean any harm and he does genuinely care about the people he loves and he makes it up to them even going as far as near-death which is most I can say for some people

Final Note: A perfect Wonderboy with a not-so-perfect soul is usually what I think of him. There are good qualities here and there and everyone has bad spirits in them and Fitz is no exception to that. Before I said pressure was Dex’s problem, Fitz doesn’t look so much affected by this because he’s been pressured all his life. Grades, appearance, his dad, everything really so he’s used to it.

He’ll have cause to reconsider his emotional issues eventually but to hate him so passionately I believe isn’t fair. But that does not mean I will not be defending his wrongdoings because he has made some mistakes but he’s also done just as much good. He stuck with Sophie when she had trouble fitting in, watching from a distance to make sure she wasn’t harmed and also allowing her to find her place in Foxfire (others believe he just up and abandoned her as a mission completed sorta thing when she arrived but I don’t think that’s the case), he was willing to risk his life to involve himself in dangerous missions and that was even before he realized Alvar was involved with the Neverseen

ppl who ship zuko with anyone from the gaang has to Watch your step i swear to god

zuko/toph and zuko/aang: TOPH AND AANG ARE 12!!!!! ZUKO IS 16!!!!! STOP THIS. no 16 year old should be dating a 12 year old i cant believe i have to say this

zuko/katara and zuko/sokka: you really need to be careful with these ships i Dont think they work AT ALL until after zuko joins the gaang ao literally Stop with the content that has the relationships start in like s1 and s2 because zuko hasnt gone through his whole redemption arc yet !!! he needs to have that arc!!!! and even if they dont actually formally get together until he joins ... its like. it just muddies up the arc imo . like he NEEDS to join the gaang because he 1. acknowledges that what he’s done is wrong 2. knows that the war is wrong 3. wants to stop the war and 4. wants to teach aang firebending to do his part in stopping the war. he joins the gaang because its the right thing to do, for the war and to make up for everything he’s done. if you make him have a crush on someone in the gaang beforehand then that muddies it up - he can’t be joining the gaang so that he can be with someone. he can’t have someone else influence his thoughts and feelings. his motives should be purely his own, to do better for himself and what he’s done, NOT because he wants to get on someone’s good side

I THINK that’s also why soulmate aus dont work, really. because that is Definitely a reason to muddy up zuko’s redemption. he shouldnt be doing it so he can be with his soulmate he should be doing it because he arrived at the knowledge that the war is wrong on his own, and he wants to amend his wrongdoings not because his soulmate is upset, but because he knows it was wrong.

(i’ve seen a few platonic soulmate fics where the entire gaang is included, which ! is better than soulmate aus with just One person to be attached to. but even then, i think a soulmate au could only work if for some reason zuko isn’t aware that the member/s of the gaang are his soulmates, so his attempts to join + make up for what he did are genuinely of his own accord)

zuko/katara specifically has a LOT of animosity and hostility between them that honestly turns me off from the ship entirely even post-redemption so yall have GOT to be careful .... but zuko/sokka fans arent exempt either. i see some nasty shit in that tag on ao3 its literally so gross...

theres already a lot of shit going on in canon bur some of you actually EXACERBATE it in fic and noooooo Its NOT ROMANTIC OR SEXY UWU ITS SO UNCOMFORTABLE STOP!! not all tension between characters is sexual/romantic tension!!! IT’S JUST TENSION!! IT’S CONFLICT!! AND RIGHTFULLY SO BECAUSE ZUKO WAS DOING BAD THINGS EARLIER IN THE SHOW!!!

i think my main point without getting into specifics is, with these 2 ships, you gotta be careful not to romanticize the whole enemies to lovers thing, because they were GENUINELY enemies and zuko was not a good dude earlier on! you cant romanticize what he did or the dynamic he had with the characters back then because it was not a good dynamic.
