Answers under the cut!
) Which labels do you use?
On paper I'm a pansexual trans man! But as per my other post, I have decided to eat all the labels available. I might describe myself as bi to cishet people, and in more nuanced spaces I identify as a he/him lesbian. I'll identify as a dyke or faggot, with friends or people who are made uncomfortable by it. And of course, we're all gay.
3) Which pronouns do you use?
He/him!
25) What queer discourse frustrates you the most?
I wrote a pretty long thing on the other post, but basically we're all in this together, we're more alike than different, and queer liberation is in everyone's best interest. I think a decent amount of discourse comes from people with good intentions, but perhaps who aren't very experienced or who aren't very educated on queer history. Some have just allowed bigotry to seep into the way they build community though and that sucks.

Tumblr media
everyone and their dog is doing it and everyone is absolutely allowed to share their opinions so i want a turn but first let me clarify:
hello im yase, been around since 1.0. I am of turkish and nogai descent and i can speak fluently in tatar, turkish but my english doesnā€™t hold 100% so i will be all over the place.
Unfortunately this will all be word of mouth and may be taken as vague posting, but I have experienced issues since the release of 4.0 and would like to give my opinions. I want to let this all off my chest this is just a huge vent basically so i guarantee my english will be terrible.
the most important point: NEVER EVER SPEAK FOR ANOTHER CULTURE. NEVER EVER SPEAK ABOUT A CULTURE YOU DONā€™T KNOW. YOU HAVE SPREAD FALSE INFORMATION AND I AM SO HURT.
another point is ITS A VIDEO GAME GUYS (does not apply to everything but some people really need to take a step back because people are concerned.)
Hereā€™s the hot topic Iā€™ll talk of first: garleans. I personally do not play one as I prefer to play characters that would never be involved in a sense with the political agenda because in real life im too stupid to comprehend anything like that so i wouldnā€™t even know how my character would behave with the hot topics. I really do think people need to take a step back and see that everyone who is putting in their input is making solid points but personally I would never compare them to nazi germany though I see why people are generalising. I always saw it as tsardom of russia with the use of roman influence as well, something obvious in naming conventions and the way the ranks/monarchy(?) works but itā€™s not so clear what the main influences of most places in this game if you have a look at the bigger picture. Without like full on spoiling, its weird to have this view to me with the knowledge that ascians are behind this. Are you implying anyone who plays or was influenced by ascians is also under this umbrella?Ā
Also why THE HELL WOULD YOU TAG SOMETHING KNOWING IT WOULD GET A LOT OF TRACTION AND RESPONSE THEN BE LIKEĀ ā€œyou guys misunderstood, I was expressing my feelingsā€ lol no.Ā ā€œ I donā€™t understand where this is coming from, and at this point, I donā€™t really want to.ā€ then why did you even fucking bother do it in private dont tag it.
You are COMPLETELY valid to feeling uncomfortable, it is fine because with how much of this world we have there will be aspects some of us donā€™t like. You are not inclined to involve yourself with someone if they roleplay as a garlean but you do not need to start publicising it in a way that will paint the community in black and white when its truly a wider spectrum.
YOU CHOOSE WHO YOU INVOLVE YOURSELF WITH AND WHO YOU PLAY WITH, PLEASE GET AWAY FROM PEOPLE WHO GIVE YOU NEGATIVE FEELINGS OR YOUā€™LL SPREAD IT TO OTHERS.
from that initial and very brief tagged post there popped up many others and new discourse is arising, opening discussions about many things which is better then being blind to it all. but if you have personal grievances with someone and you state its over, let it be over. Itā€™s not healthy behaviour. itā€™s also troubling to see someone complain a lot about the game and continue to play, no one is forcing you or holding a gun to your head. take breaks if you need to and play less frequently. like, real life is so much more important and there are people in this community that prioritise relationships with players etc.
Also, please stop fucking talking about mongolian/turkic/turkish culture like you know things. 99% of the big mouths in this community are americans. like majority are white americans.Ā
over the course of this expansion i have had many people of varied backgrounds share with me some terrible experiences and i myself have seen some truly stupid shit.Ā
WE ARE HERE TO HELP YOU LEARN OF OUR CULTURE AND WHERE TO CONTINUE DOING SO. DO NOT INTERPRET MEDIA AS ACCURATE REPRESENTATION OF CULTURE.
it is absolutely not hard to tag a post and ask around, someone will pop up. Iā€™ve been doing my very best to let everyone i know that i can help with learning about my culture or to find someone who would be more then happy to explain and share with other cultures. But when you go off of a documentary you saw of Genghis khan or only know of the tourist white people scenes of istanbul you as a community say some TRULY dumb shit.
I like to try and be patient because i myself when approaching someone of a culture i admire and am curious about i want that in turn. But if you say to me things likeĀ ā€œAinu arenā€™t realā€ orĀ ā€œTatar people have nothing in common with tribes from the Altai mountainsā€ its hard to do so.
FFXIV regions are not justĀ ā€œGermanyā€Ā ā€œTurkeyā€Ā ā€œMongoliaā€. If you think this, itā€™s clear to me you donā€™t know shit and are too lazy to explore, further just google shit its not that hard. I had someone tell me that my people could never be in this game since itsĀ ā€œStraight up mongoliaā€ fucks sake NO ITS NOT. The designs vary and i can see the differences in simple things like words because i actually bother to do research even coming from a turkic culture. There were some beautiful little things dropped that linked to not only my people but others like Uyghur and Altai. The only place in FFXIV i think could only have a singular influence is Kugane, because from a foreignerā€™s perspective thatā€™s already interesting enough. Many people have grievances and real issues with how SE has handled Domaā€™s influences and no one ever talks about that. Representation for asia in media has turned into this mess of specific east asian countries, the trio that even then gets categorized into China/Japan with brief mentions of Korean culture.Ā
Its frustrating. There are people who are happy to teach you. Who are willing to show what is wrong with the picture.
I have read several posts about Turkey/istanbul/Antalya. Yall fuckin weird you guys seem to think its in U.A.E or some shit with how you act. Itā€™s in the Mediterranean/Europe/Asia/Middle East and there is no such thing as a specific looking Turkish person. You claim everyone is specifically white/brown, HELL NO. Itā€™s a mixed nation and thatā€™s the history of the land, if you had ever fucking stepped in turkey and spoke to any person on the street theyā€™ll say their heritage that lead them to there. People claim Ala mhigoā€™s influences are turkey but i have yet to see that. As someone who has lived there and has heritage there and is strongly connected to that culture, i dont see it. sure the ala mhigan gown had patternings but thats also present in my nogai culture too because parts of turkeyā€™s society descended from the line of the Kayi tribe. Just fucking LEARN TO READ GUYS. None of you guys even know what the altai mountains mean and i could sit and explain over and over again if you let people SPEAK.
Look at Thavnairian items. We have outfits that are completely different, a full length dress and then a bustier. you canā€™t start generalising things in video games to be one culture you have to realise most places in this game have several influences. We donā€™t know a lot but everything we have been given has been varied enough to pin point it to ONLY one influence.
I donā€™t want to just keep going about this simply because im growing frustrated.
The thing with Viera complaints. I think some are valid but some are stupid. For one as I make this post it hasnā€™t even been confirmed so there is no reason for policing Viera to a severe extent. Considering all the Ivalice content in game has been an alternate universe kind of thing its dumb as shit. But feol viera being made without understanding the knowledge that people who have played rw picked up is quite frustrating. As a community, its important to help people when we have information that others may need that they cant understand the context of.
I know people are worried about them being fetishized, that is my legitimate fear too as a huge ivalice fan. But this is a repeated cycle especially when we consider generalizations like miqoā€™te especially seekers and belly dancing or when au ra arrived and people thought xaela were genghis khan basically.Ā
The game is not solid, there are so many holes in the lore and the plots and i know people hate that but we fill the gaps with our own opinions and theories. While I understand some people think we need to move forward in 2019 becauseĀ ā€œjapan is xenophobicā€, its a very difficult thing to do. THEY DO HIRE PEOPLE FOR CULTURE ADVISING. THEY TRAVEL OFTEN AND DEVELOP WITH THIS. ITā€™S NOT LIKE THEY WENT ON GOOGLE AND SAIDĀ ā€œyeah a japan land would be funā€ they literally have people hired specifically for this stuff. however, at the end of the day its a company that has yet to show it can evolve with the times. Its becoming more and more evident with the recent patterns of main titles in FF and side projects having so many issues in story/lore/management. remember 1.0 basically died being absolute garbage and this is salvaged from that.
its really late and i had a terrible evening so i may not be making the most sense but theres more important things to worry about then to make this game a miserable experience when it could be a huge learning opportunity for everyone. Thereā€™s no need to generalise people into categories because of characters they choose to develop but its important to note with majority of people standing up higher on the pedestal are those speaking for the minorities groups that have direct influences in the game.
also lol if you fucking say ainu arenā€™t real to me one more time i will fucking throttle you

Hello Emily!!! I was just wondering whatā€™s your opinion on CherylšŸ¤”
Well hello, my lovely! That sounds like a mighty controversial question to ask, lol. But, I mean, I obviously have to preface this by saying my opinion is just that; an opinion. And it may not be as glowing an opinion as some may have of her, but thatā€™s fine. Those people that love her can love her relentlessly, as much as I could not. So, donā€™t take my opinion as gospel. Please. But be warned; Itā€™s probably not gonna be all positive, if Iā€™m being honest. So, read on at your own choosing.
Anywho, to answer your question; I donā€™t really care much one way or another about her? I think like most of us, i hadnā€™t known of her much until the last few (5-7) years. Although I probably grew up during her musical hey days, her music (group nor solo-wise) hadnā€™t really reached much of the US, much less to my musical airwaves. So, musically, I suppose Iā€™m indifferent? I think, in terms of her musicality, sheā€™s a much stronger dancer/performer thanĀ ā€˜singerā€™. Her type of artistry, from what Iā€™ve accumulated from videos and such, is a little predated to an earlier 2000ā€²s feel, where stage theatrics took presence over vocals. Iā€™m not saying she cant sing; Iā€™m simply saying *I* see her tactic and drive as an artist is to ā€˜put on a showā€™ with a heavy presence of dancing rather than sing solely with the drive being vocal. Sheā€™s alright, and I hope she navigates her musical career how she wants to, fulfillingly. BUTā€¦.Iā€™m not particularly all that intrigued in her music myself.
Regarding her with Liam, which is why I assume you asked me my opinion on her to begin with, isnā€™t the most stellar. Iā€™m just gonna be honest with yall; Iā€™m not keen. So, if weā€™re looking for some Cherliam on my blog, you probably wont find much. Sorry, lol. I just get a rather odd feeling regarding them. Which means NOTHING in the grand scheme of things, because honestly? Iā€™m sure they could care less about my opinion; theyā€™re still living their lives, together, how they choose so. Bear sound like a sweet boy, and is loved by his parents. So thatā€™s all I can ask for with them. Other than that, Iā€™m not personally a fan of them together. And Iā€™m sure weā€™ve all heard one reason or another why. But thatā€™s all just a matter of opinion and how we view relationships, I guess. I meanā€¦I donā€™t much care for Zigi either. Soā€¦donā€™t take it personally. I just donā€™t vibe with it.
However, i will say I havenā€™t been introduced the best impression of Cheryl. I donā€™t share this follwing stuff because I have some personal, mean girl vendetta against her, butā€¦Some of the things Iā€™ve seen regarding her arenā€™tā€¦the best. And full disclosure: Yes, I know we all have spotty pasts where we didnā€™t exhibit the best judgement. Is Cheryl allowed to grow as a person? Yes. And I have no interest in going out of my way to hurt or attack her directly; I donā€™t care enough about her to. BUT, I had a conversation with a friend who was a bit disturbed to hear about issues she was involved with in her past. And yes, i think we all know what one of those topics isā€¦
I think it is fully fair to acknowledge that some of the things sheā€™s done in the past are unacceptable, or not condonable, at the least. And if people find personal disapproval or problems with things sheā€™s done, thatā€™s fully understandable, and needs to be respected. I know this could get me into trouble with her diehard fans, but if someone is disturbed by her past of physical aggression, i think thatā€™s very justifiable to understand and acknowledge that some people do not like what sheā€™s done, simply put. I think weā€™ve all heard of the bathroom attendant story. And yes, full disclosure; itā€™s in the past and Iā€™m sure (hoping) sheā€™s definitely learned her lesson not to get drunk off her ass like that again. Additionally, I know that situation in particular is a very big, divisive one that people either strongly defend, or strongly argue against. I cant say I know whatā€™s certain regarding that altercation, but all I can say is that the photo of the victim of the assault isā€¦.bad. Fair warning: the photo could be graphic for some.
Tumblr media
Although Chez claimed she ā€˜hit back in self-defenseā€™, the injuries claimed to be sustained by the victim look a little bit more than justĀ ā€˜defensiveā€™, considering there was hardly a scratch on Cheryl. Thereā€™s no way around disputing that. You can see it for yourself. Furthermore, she said in her book that,
Tumblr media
I donā€™t know what about THAT isĀ ā€˜scot-freeā€˜, but I digress. Regardless of the little details here or there about their differing stories, being seeing asĀ ā€˜not guiltyā€™ doesnā€™t meanĀ ā€˜innocentā€™. This is one altercation that is used against her a lot. And yes, some use it in the wrong way as ammunition to fuel arguments about why they personallyĀ ā€˜hateā€™ Cheryl, but others simply feel itā€™s important to discuss, because itā€™s not the first or last time she had been aggressive with someone. Sheā€™s also admitted HERSELF that sheā€™s been physical towards ex-partners too. She claims that she was raised toĀ ā€˜stand up for herselfā€™, and that her brothers taught her to fight, essentially. And I would fully agree with that being a reasonable means of action to physically protect yourself. But when it comes to the situations that occurred with her past partners, it didnā€™t seem to be of self-defense, in my personal opinion, but rather an irrational impulse.
While I DO agree her ex-partners are utter shitbags and she had reasons to be upset, I donā€™t personally believe itā€™s okay to lay hands on ANYONE; unless you are being physically assaulted against your will initially, then I fully understand and support self-defense. But thatā€™s seemingly not the case regarding these situations. She describes an ex-boyfriend as being a severe drug abuser. As I said before, Iā€™m not saying her ex-boyfriends are saints and without issue; I personally wouldnā€™t accept my partner abusing hard drugs either. But something about how casually she explains physically hitting him out of anger isā€¦unsettling.
Tumblr media
She later on had a big scandal involving her ex-husband, as Iā€™m sure some already know. Again, a cheating husband is absolutely trash, and disgusting. So I feel no emotional sympathy for him when it comes to his decision to cheat. And on an emotional level, I really do feel for her regarding that. But I really and truly cannot tell you guys I condone physical violence, especially in regards to relationships. At that moment, she made a really bad decision to lash out how she did. And i havenā€™t a clue why she would publish this information, cause it certainly doesnā€™t paint her in a *good* light?
Tumblr media
Now, whatever opinion you may have about relationship issues, thatā€™s your opinion, and thatā€™s fine. But I cant lie to you guys and say Iā€™m okay with one person doing this to their partner. Doesnā€™t matter who that partner is, or whether itā€™s a girl to a guy, a guy to a girl, or anything in between. Itā€™s not acceptable to me, and I hope you guys can understand why some people can be extremely upset about stuff like this regarding Cheryl. This isnā€™t meant to be a rallying cry to bash Cheryl, no. I was asked how I felt about her, and I was gonna be honest to include things that upset me, and others, about her. Itā€™s okay for Cheryl fans to admit her faults, and its okay for non-fans to admit she has made mistakes in her past that she can, and probably has, learned from. That was the sole purpose bringing up those talking points.
I'm sorry this went on a slight bit of a tangent, and that it may not have been as passive and positive as some may have expected me to answer, but...Itā€™s honest, and my opinion. I'm sure there are some great qualities about Cheryl; she can be wonderfully charitable and that is one thing I can say is admirable about her. I like that. And I hope she continues to do good, philanthropic work. Sheā€™s obviously a gorgeous woman, with friends and family that love her, and fans who adore and support her. Thatā€™s wonderful, really. Though she may not be a person I'm incredibly fond of, I do still wish her well. I hope she continues to grow from her mistakes, and that she leads a more wholesome life. Whatever criticism was said about her is only meant to show that weā€™re not without flaws. And I absolutely understand friends and followers who may not appreciate some of the bad things sheā€™s done in the past. As for her life now, she leads a much better one that is better to se. I'm sorry if this wasn't the best response to your question, but I hope it was okay. If someone disagrees with me about anything written, thatā€™s fine, and I respect your opinion completely. But i have no interest in having discourse back and forth, so...I've said my peace, and keeping it at that. I appreciate your ask, darling. Thank You! :)
