Happy Yalda Night ❤️
Pomegranate is one of the symbols of Yalda night.
Yalda is the name of the longest night of the year in Iran. We Iranians celebrate this night. All families eat pomegranates, persimmons, nuts and watermelons on this night, people go to friends' and relatives' houses and stay awake more on this night, read poetry, talk and laugh with each other.

[شب یلدا مبارک :Shabe Yalda Mobarak]
"Happy Yalda Night!" 12/21
I wish you a long and happy life like Shabe Yalda, sweet as watermelon and fruitful as pomegranates!
I hope it's not too incorrect! I did EXTENSIVE research to attempt to get the right words as well as an Old Persian Keyboard to get the proper symbols. I wanted to try and do this justice, I apologize if anything's not in the right place or completely wrong 💦
My reasoning behind this:
Since I've been working on my Xerxes AU lately. I've been doing a LOT of research on Old Persian Empire history and looked up what their equivalent of Christmas/Winter Solstice was and found Yalda. So I just thought, since I'm incorporating a bit of real history in my AU, I figured Yalda made sense for a holiday/festivity to celebrate in the Xerxes World.
Xerxes is based off of ancient Persian Empire aspects, so I thought I'd commemorate the holidays with something.
In general, I love learning about other cultures and researching virtually ANYTHING and EVERYTHING. So, I wanted to show what I'm looking into and the work I've been putting into this AU.
Also I have a poll for you:

good evening, my dear readers. i missed the anniversary by a few days, but i have been working on this project for five years now.
the last three years have been... real rough, not gonna lie. let’s all hope the next year is a little better. i hope you all are staying safe and well-temperaturized, regardless of if you live in the northern or southern hemisphere.
our heroes are settling in for a more low-key and cozy holiday this year.

Was trying to make another Fall Sunrise cover and i ended up not liking this while i was inking so i decided that maybe slapping some color mid way would help. It didn't really but i worked too hard and long on it to just delete so have this silly wip. I liked her face the most out of it all.
Anyways, i love Yalda!!! 💖💖💖

Winter Solstice
The Winter Solstice for 2023 will occur on December 21 at 7:27 PM Why are there so many Holidays and Holy Days at this time of year? Why do so many of them, especially in the Northern Hemisphere, seem to emphasize light, especially light in contrast to the darkness? Likely this is because of the Winter Solstice. Stonehenge, a Celtic monument built for the Solstices, perhaps as much as 5000…

Yesterday was Yalda or winter solstice. It is the longest night of the year and one of the most sacred days in Iranian culture. It is a tradition that pre-dates Islam and dates back to when Iranic people worshiped the sun god, Mithra. On this night, in order to protect ourselves from the evils that come out in darkness, we surround ourselves with candles, stay up all night with family and friends eating pomegranate and persimmons and reading Hafez poetry.
Yesterday was also Yalda Aghafazli’s chehelom (40 days since her passing). Yalda committed suicide after being released from prison, where she was savagely tortured. I wanted to share her story. She is one of thousands of unknown stories.
In honor of Yalda, yesterday Iranians around the world held candlelight vigils. Understandably, no one was in a celebratory mood but we still spent it together, remembering the beautiful souls who have died and the beautiful souls withering in jails.
May next year’s Yalda be full of joy and happiness. May we celebrate a free Iran and truly celebrate the coming of the light.

Yalda Night, a celebration of winter solstice also known as Shab-e Yalda in Farsi is one of the most ancient and celebrated events in Iran.
Every year, on the last night of autumn, Iranians around the world celebrate the longest and darkest night of the year, the victory of light over darkness, the arrival of winter, and the renewal of the sun on Yalda night.

Shab-e Yalda: The Zoroastrian Winter Solstice  – The World Zoroastrian Organisation

birth
The word “yalda” (یلدا‎) comes from the Syriac word yēled (ܝܠܕ), meaning “birth”. However, it is likely that the festivities themselves were adopted by ancient Persians (of Zoroastrian faith) from the annual celebration of the 'renewal of the Sun' of the ancient Babylonians and Egyptians.
