Helloo hellooo!
I dunno if anyone else has asked this already, but do you happen to have any headcanons you have for the Seven Mysteries? >:0
Heyaaaa! Thank you sm for the ask I am so happy to talk about them dhsjdhs TuT
Here are some of my headcanons :D (warning: it's long)
Disclaimer: lots of spoilers for the manga :D and lot of made up stuff too (that’s headcanons I mean)
Mitsuba (number 3) will be referred as Sousuke
Shijima-san (number 4) will be referred as Mei
and Shinigami (number 6) will be sometimes referred as Hakubo :D
Let's start with how they call each other because it says a lot about their relationships :D
Tumblr media
They have a favorite Mokke named Bertie. Bertie is actually better than them for a lot of things. Cooking, games and such. They have a little chair in their shared boundary.
The mysteries have game nights during the week end (Akane’s parents are rarely here and he always find stupid excuses to come back to school on Saturday night)
Akane: I forgot my notebooks
Hanako: yes sure. so you went at 3am on a sunday to get them back of course number 1.
They adore games, every type is okay. Their favorite games to play are either the Werewolf or Detective (even if half of them are terrible at role playing). They also really love to play games like Tichu or Hanafuda when they are fewer to play.
Tsuchigomori always tries to find new board games to test every week now.
Tumblr media
At first, Hanako tried to organize a ‘team building party’ each Friday. Only Tsuchigomori and Yako went on the first one because they were forced to. But now all mysteries come and it is an absolute mess every time.
Hanako actually loves to write stories which make no sense and often ask the Mokkes to make a play out of it. Sometimes it lasts more than 4 hours and the other mysteries want to set the school on fire to make it end. Sousuke discovered what bowling was one day and now they do one every month. They end up destroying the bowling alley Mei creates most of the time.
Tumblr media
Once Akane learned that Hanako was a big fan of space he actually started to look a little bit through it and make him watch H2G2 (The hitchiker's guide to the galaxy), it became his favorite book and movie right away. Tsuchigomori gave him all tapes (lol boomer) of Star Wars and when he doesn’t know what to do he watches all the first movies. He also discovered the wonderful world of scifi and is a big fan. He reads a lot and Tsuchigomori gives him a lot of books. Talking about books is the only conversation he can have with Akane without having the two trying to strangle each other.
They have a contest to make Mei laugh. Nothing ever worked expect when Hanako got stuck in a bin for 1 hour while trying to get one of his socks back (don't ask how it got here probably Akane who just messed with him)
Kako is the prank and puns master of the mysteries, especially because at first nobody guessed he was the prankster type. His fav targets are Tsuchigomori and Sousuke because of how jumpy they are. He has a lot of absolutely ridiculous gadgets he got from they don’t know where.
Mei is really good at having a poker face and make people believe a lot of stupid shit. She managed to make the others kids believed she was a goddess for a solid week
Mei: I have the power of ubiquity, don’t you know it’s only for gods? No wonder you talked to me like that, when I am far superior than you.
Sousuke: Oh shit! I-I am so sorry, how do we have to call you then?
Hanako’s favorite thing to do is to possess objects so he can freak tf out of Sousuke (or Akane when he has his glasses) whenever he goes out of his boundary. At this point the pink haired boy has a box of salt just to throw it on everything that is moving around him. He always make a game everytime Akane has a test to see how much he can destroy his attention (stealing his glasses and sitting on his shoulders, dancing stupid stuff next to the teachers and all. If Akane turns into his supernatural form to chase him for 15 minutes it’s a win)
Akane will do everything to make Hanako remembers he is short af.
Shinigami doesn’t know what a joke is. And that makes the others tease him a lot. Kako tried to tell him that a good joke must come at the right time. He ended up ‘joking’ about the fact that Akane was one year closer to death on his 16th birthday (it’s in December in my head). The redhead ended up sulking during the whole evening.
Kako: That wasn’t what I meant when I was talking about timing Hakubo-kun.
Shinigami:ah, I thought it was a really great joke.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
They are all terrible cooks except for Akane and Tsuchi who were dragged to be a judge for ‘the seven mysteries cooking show’ (Hanako loves to name absolutely everything). Fortunately they did it in one of Mei’s fake worlds otherwise the school would have been burned down around 5 times.
Akane tried to teach the other kids to cook one time, and he dropped the idea after seeing that Bertie was the only one who managed to make a decent looking cake.
They also all realize that Mei could create snacks and things to eat but could only replicate the flavors if she already ate one. The boys went through an absolute businessmen phase to see how to make money out of this (creating tons of fake food) but Tsuchi ended up scolding all three of them by making them write ‘No I don’t sell things to the other students to earn money’ during 2 hours.
Sousuke often asks Akane to buy him snacks/sweets from the outside world (None of the kids can go out, Shinigami can, Kako and Yako too. Only Tsuchi and Akane can be visible to humans though)
And Akane does the most tsundere shit ever most of the time
Akane: Uh? Buying you snacks? Did you think I was a fcking cart or something?
*takes his phone out of his pocket*
So what do you want?
Once Tsuchigomori realized the kids asked Akane a lot of stuff to buy. Books (because hey collections are important Mei can only create fakes anyways), food, games etc.. He started giving Akane money telling it was his allowance. Hanako sulked for a whole week out of jealousy.
Tsuchi ended up giving all kids allowances, which they gave to Akane after so he could buy them stuff. (but at least they have the impression they got moneys yep)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Mirai looooves stories. She always asks people to read her stuff even if Akane taught her how to read when he was 12 (he still doesn’t understand why she goes back to level 0 at each new lesson. He didn’t know he was that bad at teaching, rip his ego).
Her fav persons to read stories are Akane, Tsuchi (he is just naturally good at this being a teacher and all) and Mei since she creates some stuff from the stories with her powers.
She also loves to ask Yako to read her stories because she gets mad at the characters for being stupid. Hanako read her a story once, and decided to create a play with all the others in it who wanted to die. Mirai absolutely adored it but everyone agreed that Hanako was banished from reading her story so they wouldn’t have to go through this again. (Whenever Mirai comes to him someone literally jumps in front of her and reads the story for her, no matter who it is.)
Hakubo can’t fucking read and Mirai actually taught him.
Akane discovered this and went . __ . After learning he was reading her stories for 4 years when she actually knew how to do it alone (she just pretended she didn’t know how to do it because, hey it’s way better when people read it for her) .
Mirai’s fav story is the Der Rattenfänger von Hameln, because it reminds her of number 6. Even if Shinigami is really confused as to why a man kidnapping children reminds her of him (he is hurt but doesn’t know how to say it. Mirai is mostly thinking of the ‘really cool flute’ but hey supernaturals don’t know how to communicate)
She also likes the original stories written by the Grims and all thing related to mythology
Akane absolutely refuses to explain mythologies to her because she is like 4 in his head, it’s too violent for her.
He is careful with the stories he chooses even though Mirai doesn’t mind blood and violence, he is just an overprotective big bro. (and don’t worry that the others tease him about it even if they are all super sweet with the youngest )
Tumblr media
(my headcanon for 12yo supernatural Akane's appareance btw yay)
Sousuke asked to do a fake test one day (he tries to follow Kou’s classes with a mirror in the back of the classroom). Akane ended up sleeping during the whole test ‘I do this all year gimme a fucking break’ Hanako suddenly disappeared with the excuse of ‘Oops sorry I don’t know how to read’ and Mei created origamis with her test. Sousuke complained that there weren't that many people in the classroom so it didn’t feel real and Mei created a whole class full of Meis. They dropped the whole idea after 30 minutes because Sousuke couldn’t take it anymore.
Hakubo loves plants. But he is terrible at taking care of them (they die once he touches them most of the time). They have a little plant in their shared boundary (the one they go to, to have a meeting) which is called Georges and have a little hat. (It’s also in a frog shaped pot). Hakubo pretends he doesn’t see its date of death reset everyday (Kako keeps it alive for him)
Sousuke is able to see people’s emotions (when he wants to, and mostly negative emotions) and admitted that wehenevr he looks at Hakubo he is uneasy because the dude is just a big void. Once he got his first plant Sousuke finally saw SOMETHING and went :o. He understood the guy is just dense and lost af. Akane is always less stressed when he is with them but that’s something Sousuke will keep as a secret for him.
Hakubo has a magic orb to see everything across the earth and Akane once joked about the fact it looked like internet. Hakubo said he was the one who invented it. They still don’t know if he was talking about the orb or internet.
Yako loves to spend time with the kids and to teach them the stuff she knows
Yako: And now this is how you caught a frog with your mouth.
Akane: Wow that’s definitely something I will write on my resume thanks
Tumblr media
She likes to go on a bench with Sousuke and trashtalk about absolutely everyone with 0 reasons and saying the most stupid shit ever just for the sake of trashtalking.
They spare a lot with her too. She likes and knows how to fight. She usually trains Sousuke because he is a scaredy cat. Akane and Mei often spar together and it is violent af (the others see explosions in the background, they are too scared to ask wtf is happening). Hanako always says he doesn’t need to train but Yako tells him that he is pretty bad at fighting, he always ends up coming because his ego is hurt oops. (he is okay at fighting but it is not really natural. Supernaturals can learn but it takes them some times (and Amane definitely didn’t know how to fight because of how frail he was) Akane learns way quicker than the others (since he is part human) and Mei was partly created like this (human Mei thought it was really cool to know how to fight with absolutely every type of weapons))
Tsuchi doesn’t fight, Mirai is too young and Kako is too old (he just doesn't want to mostly)
Kako: once you will be 10 you will be able to
Mirai: Yayyyy
Akane: she.. she knows she will never be 10 right,Kako? Kako?
Kako: *smiles*
And Shinigami was absolutely banned from the sparring room. (the dude is a killing machine. He sulked for an entier week when he learned that, but forgave everyone when he received a new plant named Gertrude)
Mei and Sousuke often go to take photos and draw together.
They like to watch movies together and if they don't chose a movie in less than 10minutes, Bertie will automatically put Alvin and the Chipmunks. (and they will be forced to watch by the Mokke)
And that's all for now :'D I put some of my old stuff in here to illustrate a little yay
I had a lot of 'angst' headcanons too but I will stop for now TuT
This is really long I am sorry dsgdsg
But tbh don't hesitate to ask if you want more, or you have any headcanons or if you want headcanons about characters interacting :DD I love them a lot so that makes me really happy ^^
just talk to me about them plz

Kitsune! Miya Twins x Reader: Sly Foxes (SFW-ish) Part 1
Okie dokie! So here we are! First Miya twins fic! I’m super excited! I read a fic called The Fox Witch by @haikyuufairy and it was SO FREAKING GOOD! It inspired me to write this! Now- I am NOT familiar with Kitsunes or authentic Japanese culture and things like that- so PLEASE bear with me! I’m trying my best. I’m literally going to do research for this fic because I love the concept of it so much! Kitsune Inarizaki was AMAZING and I genuinely loved it! So I hope I am doing this author justice by writing something (hopefully) as good as they wrote!
Like I said earlier I am a Kitsune/Authentic Japanese virgin and basically have no idea what I’m doing with this but...I’m gonna try anyway! So without further ado, lets get on with the story!! As always if you would like a Part 2, feel free to suggest and I will be happy to provide!
Warnings: PG-13
Tumblr media
For as long as you could remember, you had grown up hearing stories of Kitsunes, the gods, demons, and all sorts of things that you had thought only belonged in the dreams of those older than you. You would leave offerings to the gods and the deities right outside their homes to try and keep the ‘bad’ demons away and have the good ones on their side if things were to turn bad. However, you never really believed any of it. They were myths. Fairy tales. Things adults would say to children to get them to behave. Right?
You had never expected any of it to be real. You had never expected that demons actually roamed the earth out of sight from human eyes. And you sure as hell did not expect to be passed out inside the temple on shrine grounds of the goddess Inari.

“There...done...,” You said looking down at the pile of boxes you had just hauled into your new house. Finally you were away from your family and had just started working in the area. Your house was one floor, one bathroom, one bedroom cottage-like house that you were able to afford each month in rent. It was nice, quiet, and you had a nice big front and backyard.
You stretched out and sat down on a chair in the dinning room, crossing your legs and pulling out your phone to check it. You scrolled through for a while as a reward for hauling in boxes upon boxes of your stuff. However, when you had finally noticed you needed to unpack your clothes or else you would have nothing to wear, you did so. You grabbed a pair of scissors and started to cut open the boxes with your clothes, and clothing hangers in them. Silently you thanked the gods that the movers were able to already have helped you set up your bed and move heavy furniture so that you wouldn’t have to do it yourself. About a half hour had passed until you heard a knock on your front door. You placed down the clothes you were currently folding and walked over. Once you opened it, you saw an older man and woman standing there with a smile.
“Hello...My name is Aikio Tanjiro, and this is my husband, Eiji Tanjiro. And we came over to welcome you to the neighboorhood.” The old woman said and gave a small bow, along with her husband.
“Well it’s nice to meet you Tanjiro-san.” You said softly and bowed a bit as well. “Please, come in, I can make you both some tea.” You offered. The two had agreed and you gave them each a pair of guest slippers to wear. They sat down on the tatami on the floor as you boiled the water for tea.
“Oh please just Aikio and Eiji are fine.” Eiji said while sitting down.
“Oh...alright!” You smiled and once the water was ready, brought it over to the old couple. You sat down with them and started to pour the water into each of their cups.
“Have you been to the shrine yet since you have moved in?” Aikio said while blowing softly on her tea before taking a small sip. You smiled nervously.
“N-no actually, I’ve been busy unpacking.” You admitted with a small nervous chuckle.
“Oh well you must!” The old woman said with her eyes widening a bit. “There are Kitsune around this town that keep us protected from demons and Yako. Bringing them and the Goddess Inari an offering is an absolute must if you plan on staying here.” She warned and took another sip of her tea. You turned to her husband to see if he would say anything about her just having one or two screws loose, but all you got was a small smile.
“Don’t look at me...,” He trailed off. “She sounds a little crazy but she is right. There are Kitsune that have protected this area for generations. It’s best to appease them now when you first arrive so they don’t harbor bad feelings toward you.” He said and also sipped his tea. You just nodded slowly in agreement with them.
‘I don’t need to...,’ You thought to yourself as the three of you sipped on your teas. ‘But if they ask again, I wouldn’t want to lie to them, or disappoint them.’ You sighed internally. ‘I’ll do it anyway, besides it will help feed the wildlife.’ You thought as you sipped on your cup.
“Don’t mind the foxes in the area as well.” The old woman said. “This area is known for them. Some may be Kitsune who just haven’t reached 100 yet, so treat all of them with respect.” She nodded in agreement with herself. And for the rest of the evening the three of you talked about whatever else came to mind about your moving in.
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
After spending the rest of the evening with the Tanjiro couple, you had finished a bit more of unpacking before crashing down onto the bed you had just made and groaned. You rolled over to look at the clock on your nightstand. You didn’t have work tomorrow so you would be able to sleep in. ‘I have to go to the shrine though,’ You internally groaned to yourself. It wasn’t that you didn’t believe in things like this, it was just that you thought it was childish, almost like Santa Claus or the old folk tales you heard as a kid. Oh how wrong you were.
The next morning rolled around, and you had only known this due to the fact that the sun was shining right in your eyes when you woke up. You groaned and rolled over to look at the clock. ‘11:30′ it read. You sighed and threw the covers off of yourself before rolling out of bed and trudging downstairs to make breakfast for yourself. ‘I’ll make breakfast, get dressed, do my hygienic rounds, unpack a little more, and then I’ll visit the shrine.’ You thought as you gently pushed around the ingredients inside the frying pan.
And you had followed that plan through. However when you had finished unpacking what you wanted for the day it was actually about on the verge of sunset. You sighed and shook your head. You stood up, stretched out, and went into the kitchen to whip up some food very quickly for the offering. After cooking what you wanted, you put it in two bowls. One for the goddess and the other for the Kitsune, covered them with tin foil, and then placed them in a bag to make it easier to carry up to the shrine.
Considering that now it was dark outside you grabbed your coat, and a flashlight. The shrine was not too far away from your house at all. It was about a half a mile away including the stairs to get to the shrine. So a trip there and back would be a full mile, which wouldn’t be bad at all. The stairs to the shrine were surrounded by wilderness, and the only thing you were really worried about were wild boars, but you knew that if you didn’t mess with them, they usually wouldn’t mess with you, so you didn’t worry.
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Slowly your legs carried you up the stairs to the shrine through the woods. Your flashlight pointed at the ground in front of you to insure that you wouldn’t fall. Every now and again you would hear the sound of something in the bushes beside you, but wouldn’t pay any mind to it. ‘It was probably just a bird or squirrel.’ You would think as you continued to climb.
You had gotten about halfway up the stairs when something had suddenly jumped out in front of your light. You jumped a bit and stared directly at it. It was a fox. The fox standing in front of your light had a basic grey body with completely black legs, a white tipped tail, and a patch of white under it’s chin. It’s tail was down but waved back and forth. The two of you stood there for a while just looking at each other.
“...Can you move please?” You asked softly. “I need to get to the shrine...I brought offerings...,” Your voice was quiet but to you it felt like it was echoing through the woods. Almost a moment afterwards, the fox looked away from you and jumped back into the woods where you wouldn’t be able to see it, even if you had tried.
However, after the fox had left, you heard a rumble in the sky and you groaned. ‘Please don’t start raining.’ You thought. And soon, almost as if the gods heard you and decided to laugh in your face, you heard the sound of light pitter patter on the steps to the shrine. At this point you were closer to the shrine than you were to your house, so you silently made a plan to go into the building once you got up there to keep dry until the rain would stop falling.
You didn’t think you were moving that fast along the steps to the shrine. Your legs didn’t feel like you were moving that fast. It was more like time slowed down, and you felt like you were moving slower. But no matter what the case, you felt the undeniably feeling of your foot missing a step on the rock/concrete steps. And you felt yourself fall forward a little to far for your liking. The next thing you remember was everything going black.
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
“Why is she here?” A stern voice asked.
“Kita is gonna be so pissed off at you-” A playful voice teased.
“Watch your language! Remember where you are!” A deep voice scolded.
You groaned softly, from the noise, your head hurting, and being woken up. You felt yourself roll over on what felt like a futon. Your eyes opened for a moment and everything was blurry. Soon you closed them and re-opened them to asses the situation you were in. You sat up slowly and put your hand on your head. Under your fingers you felt bandages around your head. You let out a soft sigh and looked up. There were four people surrounding you.
The first one looked to be fairly younger than the rest of them. His black hair was pointed straight up in a spikey kind of way. He had grey eyes, and thick eyebrows that framed his face in an intimidating way.
The second one had greyish brownish muddies short hair and eyes that matched the color of it. He looked to be a bit older than the first one, but younger than the last one, and the same age as the third one.
The third one had blondish yellowish hair with an undercut that was brown. His eyes were also brown and he held this mischievous smirk on his face as he looked at you. He looked to be older than the first one, the same age as the second one, and younger than the third one.
Finally, the fourth one had very short brown hair, blueish greyish eyes, and darker skin than the other three. Out of all of them he looked the oldest. This was the one that kneeled down and let his eyes wander along the top of your head.
“How are you feeling?” He asked. You recognized his voice as the third one you heard. “Do you feel dizzy? Nauseous? Do you remember your name?”
“Chill with the questions Aran...She can’t answer all of them at once.” The one with the yellow hair said as if he were the smartest man in the world.
“Shut it Atsumu.” He scolded. Aran then looked back at you.
“No. No. And (F/n) (L/n)...Where am I?” You asked looking around you. “Am I in the shrine?”
“Wow...Good job...Someone get her a gold star.” Atsumu snickered.
“Leave her alone.” The second one said crossing his arms.
    “Ginjima is right.” Aran replied.
“...I-is Kita gonna be mad at me Aran? I didn’t know what to do with her...I crossed her path and then there was thunder...a-and then she fell...there was so much blood...I got scared...,” The first one said pacing nervously back and forth. You sat there silently.
“Chill Riseki...Kita won’t be mad.” Aran responded.
“No you didn’t.” You replied and looked up at him. “I didn’t see anybody when I came up the steps.” Riseki furrowed his eyebrows when he heard this.
“Yeah you did! We even made eye contact...You asked me to move...,” He said looking confused.
“I said that to an animal...Where you further up the steps? If so I didn’t see you.” You replied.
“I-,” Riseki was about to say before he heard someone walking to the room you all were in. There were two sets of footsteps that could be heard. Two people walked into the room. One of them looked like a carbon copy of the yellowish blondish haired boy. And the other had very noticeable white hair with black tips.
“Is she doing well?” The man with the white and black hair said to Aran.
“Yes...She is up and about and asking questions.” He replied and everyone looked back at you.
“Did she bring an offering?” He asked.
“W-well...Yeah she was on her way up with two when she fell.” Riseki said gently rubbing his arm, a nervous tendency for the young looking boy.
“I guess it can be forgiven.” The white and black haired man spoke again. “Just as long ad you bring another one....What a waste of food..,” He said softly. While his voice held no emotion, it cut through you like a blade.
“So...Are you like the monk that runs this place?” You asked looking up at him. Almost everyone in the room looked at you as if you were stupid.
“I guess you could say that.” He replied.
“Ya aren’t gonna scold him for bringin’ her here?! What the hell Kita!” Atsumu said in a rude tone.
“No..., And watch your tone Miya. Remember where you are.” Kita said and crossed his arms. “He’s young...,” He trailed off.
“Okay but-,” You paused. “Riseki was it? Where you stalking me on my way up?” You questioned.
“N-no!” He shot back at you. “I literally walked in front of you!” He said not raising his voice but just making his words more stern.
“The only thing that walked in front of me on my way up here was a fox.” You said. Then the room went silent.
“Shit!” Riseki cried. The cussing and the sudden yell earned him a wack on the back of the head by Aran.
“It’s okay...We all messed up our first few times...,” The boy with the silver hair that looked like Atsumu said.
“However that still doesn’t excuse it...I know your getting used to this but if you can’t remember what form your in, you’re staying here.” Kita said putting his food down. You were silent until you stood up off the futon on the ground.
“I hit my head harder than I thought...,” You mumbled.
“What?” Atsumu teased. “Don’t believe in Kitsune?”
“Never seen one...or met one...so I couldn’t tell you.” You admitted and looked around. “But I think I’m dreaming at this point so...I’m gonna head home now.” You stretched a bit, eager to get out of whatever kind of a dream this was.
“You aren’t dreaming.” Kita said in his usual monotoned voice that sounded cold and strong. “And you should believe what your elders tell you.” You blinked for a moment and looked around you, at everyone.
    “...Prove it...,” You said softly.
“We don’t have to prove anything to you.” Aran chimed in.
“Awe why not~!” Atsumu said playfully. “She’s already seen one of us...no point in hiding it anymore.” And soon his body had morphed. Not too much. But a tail and a pair of ears were visible. The ears were red, and that same fur had adorned the tail, however instead of red fur on the tip, it was black. You blinked then rubbed your eyes.
“Well since now you know. I expect offerings here tomorrow afternoon.” Kita said turning away from you. He started walking out of the room before pausing. “Inari along with all of us expect it now that we have shown you kindness.” And with that he left the room, leaving you in a confused state and looking around at the Kitsune in the room.
“...I don’t believe this...,” You whispered softly.

JSHK Character Name Meanings
Just an analysis of the main cast's names.
Disclaimer: I am not fluent in Japanese kanji meanings. These are all the product of research and hence might not be very accurate; feel free to correct me wherever I'm wrong.
Also, some of the derivations and symbolism behind the names is purely speculation and part of presumed theories. They are not canon unless explicitly stated.
Yashiro Nene (八尋 寧々)
八 (Ya) - Eight
尋 (Shiro)- Question / To make a request
寧 (Ne)- Rather than / To prefer
々 - No meaning. Indicates a repetition of kanji.
Symbolism: 'Yashiro' (八尋) is homophonous with the kanji for "Shinto Shrine" (社 yashiro). It's unknown if this is intentional or not.
Hanako (花子)
花 (Hana)- Flower
子 (Ko)- Child. Also a common suffix for female names.
Derivation: From the urban legend of Hanako-san of the Toilet. (This is canon.)
Yugi Amane (柚木 普)
柚 (Yu)- Citrus, specifically Yuzu citrus.
木 (Gi)- Tree
普 (Amane)- Normal / Usual
Symbolism: Presumably derived from Amaterasu, Japanese Goddess of the Sun.
Minamoto Kou (源 光)
源 (Minamoto)- Origin / Source
光 (Kou)- Light
Symbolism: While the family name is canonically derived from the Minamoto clan, Kou's first name is presumably taken from the "mitsu" of Minamoto no Yorimitsu. (源 頼光)
Minamoto Teru (源 輝)
源 (Minamoto)- Origin / Source
輝 (Teru)- To shine
Akane Aoi (赤根 葵) (Nene's best friend)
赤 (Aka)- Red
根 (Ne)- Root
葵 (Aoi)- Hollyhock flower
Aoi Akane (蒼井 茜) (The Clock Keeper)
蒼 (Ao)- Blue
井 (i)- Well / Town / Community
茜 (Akane)- Madder red
Yako (ヤコ)
Her name does not have a literal meaning since it's written in katakana. However, it could be derived from 野狐 (yako), literally meaning "field foxes" and a type of youkai in Japanese lore.
Mitsuba Sousuke (三葉 惣助)
三 (Mitsu)- Three
葉 (Ba)- Leaves
惣 (Sou)- All
助 (Suke)- To help / Save
Shijima Mei (四島 メイ)
四 (Shi)- Four
島 (Jima)- Island
メイ (Mei)- Does not have any literal meaning as it's spelt in katakana. However it is homophonous with some kanji, including: 命 ("life"), 銘 ("signature/ inscription"), or 鳴 ("sound").
Symbolism: Shijima is homophonous with the kanji for "silence" (静寂). Since her name was shown with the kanji for silence in the anime OP, No.7, instead of her real name, it may be intentional.
Tsuchigomori (土籠)
土 (Tsuchi)- Earth / Clay
籠 (Gomori)- Basket
Symbolism: His name is canonically derived from the Tsuchigumo (土蜘蛛, literally "earth spider"), a kind of youkai in Japanese folklore. Interestingly, this youkai is known best for being slain by Minamoto no Yorimitsu.
Sumire (スミレ)
Does not have a literal meaning since it's spelt in katakana. It is homophonous with the kanji for violets (菫).
Yugi Tsukasa (柚木 つかさ)
柚 (Yu)- Citrus, specifically Yuzu citrus.
木 (Gi)- Tree
つかさ (Tsukasa)- Does not have a literal meaning as it's spelt in hiragana. However it is homophonous with the kanji 司 (tsukasa) which means "chief" or "boss".
[Edit: In chapter 78, when the twins' mother addresses Tsukasa, she uses kanji (司). But whenever Amane calls out to Tsukasa, his name is written in hiragana (つかさ).]
Symbolism: Presumably derived from Tsukuyomi, the Japanese God of the Moon.
Nanamine Sakura (七峰 桜)
七 (Nana)- Seven
峰 (Mine)- Summit / Peak
桜 (Sakura)- Cherry Blossom
Hyuuga Natsuhiko (日向 夏彦)
日 (Hyuu)- Day
向 (Ga)- Approach/ Turn towards
夏 (Natsu)- Summer
彦 (Hiko)- Boy/ Young man. Also a common suffix for male names.
I know there's a few more characters I have to cover, but this is all I have so far! Feel free to add on any more or correct me if I'm wrong anywhere.

Before the Fall - A Prequel
Hello everyone so the results are officially in, and for the 300 follower milestone all of you wanted to see a Snippet featuring Misao. So without further ado here we go...
Poignantly ignoring the stares and gawkers from the crowded streets around her, Misao walked through Takama-ga-Hara with perfect purpose and poise. With a casual tug of her sleeve, she looked at the little red silken pouch tied around her wrist with narrowed eyes. The pouch contained a pearl, a very special pearl that needed to be delivered to a Mister “Yuji Arata”. The young man’s family, she had been told, had served Inari for centuries. Inari had decided that he would be the one to carry his family’s legacy further. This boy, a child just shy of eighteen years, was to solve their portal problem and locate the missing amongst their ranks.
Misao had her doubts, of course. How could a boy, like him, manage to navigate such a problem? Not even Inari’s top retainers had been able to do as such, and now they too were amongst the missing. She covered the pouch back with her sleeve nonchalantly, hiding her apprehension expertly.
The kitsune took great solace in the fact that her trip to the human realm would last only for a night. It had been a great number of years since Misao had last been on Earth, and truthfully she had wished to never return. She had been born in the cool forests on the outskirts of Chiba prefecture, spent more than half her life there…
She… She….
She grit her teeth, unhappily. How she hated thinking about her past. That young foolish kitsune was long gone now, and she intended to keep it that way. Her life was now devoted to her Kami. Her god and goddess, Inari.
Misao’s wooden sandals clacked on the pavement of the street as she strode towards the city’s limits towards Ama-no-uki-hashi, the Floating Bridge of Heaven.
She was almost there too, right near the gate, when a mocking voice called out to her.
“Yoo hoo~  Pretty lady! Over here.”
She would rather travel the vermin filled pits of Yomi, than show she was perturbed in any way by the remark. So rather than spin some illusion and slip away, she stopped and waited for the interloper to approach her.
It was a tanuki and a rather large one at that. A fellow animal retainer with shapeshifting abilities similar to a kitsune, though the raccoon dogs served a different kami altogether. Tanuki’s were known to be a rather raunchy sort, overly fond of their alcohol and their pranks.
The raccoon dog gave Misao a lecherous grin. The smell of whiskey on the tanuki wafting towards her from over a foot away. It seemed that this particular tanuki fit all the stereotypes perfectly.
“Hey,”  He slurred and walked over to her, “Whatsa pret- hic - pretty face like you doin’....  wanderin’ out on a night like -hic- this. You uh-” He squinted down at her red and white attendant uniform, “On business?”
“Yes,” Misao said with convincing politeness, “I am afraid so Tanuki-san, I regret that we can not stay and talk longer. So excuse me, please.”
With the briefest of bows, she turned away and continued walking onto the Rainbow Bridge.
“Hey,” The tanuki grabbed Misao’s wrist, the one with the pearl, “Wait.”
Bristling at the unwanted contact, Misao tore their wrist from the tanuki’s grasp and quickly shifted into their much larger fox form.
“I would advise, that you do not do that again, Tanuki,” The kitsune spat, their polite veil gone, “It would not end well for you.”
The tanuki howled with laughter, and then in a surprisingly sober voice said, “See, that was the kind of reaction I was expecting.”
“What?”
“You’ve got everyone thinking you’ve gone soft, Misao and maybe they’re right.” He said tauntingly, holding the red silk pouch in his right hand.
The tanuki shifted into a handsome looking human with five fox tails twirling out of his back, a kitsune that Misao recognized.
“Hisoka,” Misao said through gritted teeth.
“Yako scum like yourself have no place here in Takama-ga-Hara. It’s a joke. Ever since you, Inari-sama has been welcoming more and more of your disgusting ilk into the fold. A disaster just waiting to happen.”
With a snarl, Misao tackled the other kitsune. The two of them dangling over the side of the rainbow bridge, Misao on top and Hisoka struggling beneath, “How dare you speak ill of Inari-Sama, Hisoka. How dare you go against their will.”
“I don’t blame Inari-Sama, Misao,” he smiled bitterly, “I blame you.”
And with a terrible casualness, Hisoka popped the pearl out of its silken bag and dropped it off the side of the bridge. The pearl bouncing off the many winding bridges and shintai, and tumbling down to the Earth below.
“No!” Misao cried out.
Hisoka laughed, that terrible belly laugh of his. He knew full well that Misao could not return until their assignment had been fulfilled.
And he took great joy as he watched Misao tumble off the bridge after the pearl in desperate pursuit.
Did Hisoka know where the pearl would land or end up? Did he care?
All that mattered was that Misao was gone.
