Hi! First, I must say I'm a big fan of your ramblings, they're always so interesting!

And also I found out something today and I needed to share it :

Okay so, I was watching Despicable Me 3 and the minions performed a song (Minions Idol - Papa Mama Loca Pipa) and it sounded... familiar? And yes, it was, because it had the exact same tune as the song in Rottmnt season 1 episode 17 : The Evil League of Mutants. And I thought, "Huh, this is too big to be a coincidence"

So I started looking it up. Despicable me 3 was released in June 2017, while Rottmnt ep.17 was shown in November 2018, but this is obviously a dead end.

After a little searching I found that the original song was actually named "I am the very Model of Modern Major General" by W.S. Gilbert and Arthur Sullivan in The Pirates of Penzance (1879) which is a comic opera.

I find it quite clever and hilarious that they would use a song from a comic opera to introduce Draxum, proving once again that he's a big drama queen.

That's it, I know it's not as interesting as your ramblings but I couldn't keep this for myself and I really wanted to share it. Thank you for reading my little rambling!

The one that people my age may remember is: "I Am The Very Model Of A Cartoon Individual" from the show, "Animaniacs," which aired in 1993.

The character that sings this song is Yakko, voiced by Rob Paulsen... The same Rob Paulsen who was Voice Director for Rise of the TMNT.

Juno has Yakko's skin tone, eyes, feet and nose. He has Max's ears, teeth, tail and hair when it's not in those three little pigtails. They were a purple T-shirt and lavender/greyish sweatpants, as well as a bracelets with pearls of different colors. Their hairties are blue, pink and yellow. Growing up, they have Yakko's skinny figure and height (they wish they'd have taken more from Max regarding this lol).

- They have their hair tied almost all of the time, but unties them when they're about to go feral

- How they were born is simple, Max and Yakko (adults) asked both the Warner Bros. and Disney animators to draw them a child based of them both

BONDING :

Yakko : Juno and Yakko have an unbreakable bond. Yakko is always the one reading/singing to them before bedtime. He's kind of a doting and overprotective dad, but he is the most down on earth dad and is usually the one being strict when he needs to be, on last resort. He is also the one establishing the rules and making sure the routine stays organised. He is very serious about respectong bedtime, showertime and so on. He and Juno can have never ending unsignificant convos that start at 7pm and by 11pm the convo somehow evolved into a talk about outerpace and its misteries. Yakko loves Juno's childlish innocence and every single second when he's reminded they're growing up makes him nostalgic and panicky. On the rare occasions where Juno would show a bit of anxiety, Yakko would enter a spiral about how he passed his anxiety to the kid and how it's his fault. He loves to teach his kid about everything he's passionate about, and did try to teach him piano.

Max : While Yakko is the dad who establishes the rules and the teacher dad, Max is more of the fun/chill dad that does stupid things with his child and then both get scolded by Yakko (only when it involves them unvoluntarily getting hurt in the process. Otherwise Yakko also cheers for the trouble making). Max is the one giving the nicest cuddles at any moment of the day, but also the one who will randomly yeet Juno in the pool. Like Yakko does with Juno, Max and them have an unbreakable bond. However on the rare occasions where Juno shows insecurity about their teeth, Max gets sad. One becaucause it is his own feature as well, and two because he gets scared that Juno would grow up to be like him as a teen and growing distant from his dad. Max is the one hyping Juno up for ANYTHING. He's the cool dad that allows the rules to be broken once in a while. He did try to get Juno into his sports like basket ball, skateboarding and such, but eventually accepted that Juno was skilled in none of them, and skilled in much different sports instead. But he is always here at any dance/gym competition, cheering the loudest with a sign.

Plans for the rest of 2024 and beyond.

2024 has been a turbulent year for me, to say the least. I went into this year with an entire agenda as for what I wanted to accomplish in terms of writing. Little did I know how differently things would turn out for me.

My mental health back in March/April was not great if I’m being honest. I found myself not having nearly as much motivation to write as I did before. I decided to take a break from social media, fic-writing included, in order to work on my mental health. I’m happy to report that I’m doing a lot better now, and my motivation to write fics has increased significantly since June.

During my time away from the internet, I had time to reconsider what my intentions were when it came to my writing. I always enjoyed writing for the fun of it, but I also wanted my stories to stand out from the rest. I wanted to create something that was entirely unique, something that I can look at and be proud of.

The following is a list of all of the things I want to accomplish for the rest of 2024 and beyond, highlighting future stories as well as major changes in regards to my writing.

Backstory AU/The Road To Success

I’ve always viewed The Road To Success as my flagship story. I created this AU all the way back at the beginning of 2021. Hours upon hours have been put into fleshing out this AU into the multi-chapter saga. So many changes had to be made along the way(including starting the whole story over from scratch back in 2022). The story is now over 140k+ words, and it’s nowhere near finished.

Admittedly, I went a little overboard with how much thought and ideas went into this AU. I was not aware that this project would take so many months, even years, to put together. I don’t have an editor – I write, edit, proofread, and publish every one of my stories by myself. That takes a while to do.

Back in January 2023, The Road To Success went viral. This was around the time the 3rd and final season of the reboot came out, and AO3 was flocked with fans eager to catch the hype train. For a good few months, my story was gaining an immense amount of readership, which encouraged me to pump out as many chapters as possible in a short time frame.

But, like all hype trains, the excitement from the new season release cooled down. By the fall, the only fans left were diehards like myself. I was also experiencing some major burnout from pushing myself so hard. I had other responsibilities outside of social media like work, school etc. This burnout led to several delays of new chapter uploads.

During my break, I had time to rethink several components of my Backstory AU. I made a handful of changes to The Road To Success. The most prominent one was making the story much more Yakko-centric. I wanted to make a story showing how hard work and dedication to your craft can get you to places in life you’d never imagine. Yakko is the perfect character to convey that sort of message.

Initially, I wanted to include more character perspectives beside Yakko, but I ultimately decided to size it down. We’ll still see some of their perspectives (Wakko will get his own chapter at some point), but for the most part, the spotlight will remain on Yakko. This is his story, after all. Because of this, the current version of TRTS is much shorter than I originally drafted 2 years ago.

I have thought about expanding the universe even more with additional stories, but I have decided to hold off on that until I reach a certain number of chapters (you’ll understand when the time comes). I’m currently working on a 2-parter, chapters 17 and 18, which will take priority for the time being. I will save an announcement about bonus content for another day.

The Backstory AU has really become a passion project of mine. You can say it’s my magnum opus. I intend to take my time with future updates going forward. I used to pump chapters out as fast as I can, but I don’t really feel like I need to do that anymore. I feel like my content is better when I take my time to make sure everything is right. I want this AU to be executed to its full potential. Rome wasn’t built in a day, as the saying goes.

Oneshots/Additional projects

I have always been open to doing external projects on top of working on the Backstory AU and The Road To Success. Though recently, I have cut back on the amount of oneshots that I put out. There are two reasons for this:

1. The time I spend on these oneshots takes away time that I could be spending to write up the next chapter of The Road To Success. That story is a much higher priority to me, so I would like to put my time and effort into that before I decide to work on something else.

2. There really isn’t much demand for me to pump out as many oneshots now than there was 2 years ago. As I said in the hype train analogy, when a show gets new seasons/episodes, it draws fans to social media – it gives fic writers the motivation they need to push out new content. But now that the Animaniacs reboot has ended, a majority of the casual fanbase who had jumped onto that hype train had left to other fandoms.

But while the Animaniacs fanbase is much smaller now than it used to be, it allows me to focus less on the demand and more on the product itself – that product is the Backstory AU. I feel like I can take my time on new chapters knowing the diehard fan base will still be there. As long as there is an audience, I will write for as long as I still feel value in my work.

With that being said, I am going to be putting most of my focus on the AU going forward, rather than adding onto the load. I feel less anxious that way, knowing that I have a clear path in getting a fic done with little delay.

However, I am still open to doing oneshots in the not so distant future; I’m just putting priority on a bigger project at the moment. That might offset some readers who enjoy shorter content, but do know that all of my oneshots currently posted will remain on the platform for anyone to enjoy. Not to mention all the other great content getting posted on AO3. We’re a small, dedicated community, working together to make content for our own enjoyment.

But while I’m cutting back on individual oneshots going forward, I have something that you might enjoy.

Splats Of Ink/The Drabble Collection

Back in January, I decided to try my hand at a drabble collection. I saw that a couple of my fellow Animaniacs writers were doing it, so I thought “Why the heck not?” So far, I have written 6 entries to the collection, all of which have received decent feedback from readers.

I’m really enjoying doing the collection so far, because it gives me the chance to write out those strands of ideas floating around in my head. None of the drabbles in the collection are directly related to anything major, but that was the intention. The drabble collection is like my own personal sandbox – a place where I can figure out what works and what doesn't.

I won’t say yet what you can expect for future ideas for the collection; the collection itself is sporadic for the most part. But I would like to write out some deleted/extra scenes from The Road To Success which didn’t make it into the story. There is a lot of cut content from that story which I feel is still worth sharing. Other entries will include character study, and characters which I feel aren’t shined upon that often.

These drabbles will take the place of oneshots, and will typically be released during a wait period(when I’m in the midst of working on the next chapter of TRTS). As I said previously, I will still do oneshots on occasion, if I am able to come up with an idea that I can expand upon. For the most part, however, expect much more of the drabble collection in the near future.

Conclusion

If you made it all the way to the end, I just want to express how thankful I am to everyone who has supported me and my fics after all this time. I’ve been at this for 3 years now. I have made several new friends during my time here, and I’ve seen the talent of so many people in this community.

With that being said, I will be taking my time with my fics going forward. That doesn't mean I’m gonna quit necessarily, but I will be taking my time with my fics to ensure that they can hold up to their full potential. As long as there is still engagement in the fanbase, I will continue to write fic for as long as I still hold value to my craft.

A Young Immortal

It's a story practically as old as time: two young people meet, and fall in love, and fall apart, and the only proof beyond photos and word and memory that they were ever together gets dropped into the lap of some social workers, only to fall--hard, and repeatedly--through the cracks of the American foster system. Nobody wants a hyper kid, it turns out.

But being unwanted and feeling unloved and bouncing from house to house to house, family to family to family, school to school to school, it really fucks a kid up. Messes with their heads. She's still one of the lucky ones, June Smith, given a last name her mother never bothered to pen onto her birth certificate, but she's angry. And she has every right to be.

Fourteen years old and a troublemaker by the time she lands in her final home, June is sour. June is mean. June is wrathful, angry, troublesome, a real problem child. She skips class or she fails it. She's talks back to teachers, slips behind the bleachers, gets in fights with other kids. It's not pretty.

But she hasn't ended up in just anybody's home. He's a Thai-American, a chef, owns his own restaurants - owns a few of them, actually. Turned a profit on his own hard work. Former foster kid, too. He teaches her how to straighten up her act. He teaches her how to cook, to trust, to love, to laugh. The angry June gives way like a blistering summer day into to a June not of less passion or less feeling, but a June who enjoys the breezes and the seaside and doesn't melt the world in her wrath anymore. A mellow June. He doesn't adopt her, but she changes her last name to his anyway. It's nothing personal. Too many kids pass through his door: he can't adopt them all. But he and June click - not father and daughter, but cool uncle and eager niece, falling comfortably into step like that.

At 16 June learned her first secret, got her first job: she and her uncle worked as "supernatural social workers," helping things that weren't human find their footing in the human world, nonviolent things, good things. June learned peace and patience, just like her uncle--and two years later, June learned another thing. June learned she was kitsune, spent a year at home mastering her powers, and moved confidently out into the world thereafter. She gets a job. She gets a grip. She gets a life and a second chance to live it.

June still visits home sometimes, still works weekends as a supernatural social worker. She spends the rest of her time in the gym letting her energy out, or at music events, concerts, bars, clubs. She's young and in love with her life. She's carefree, has a high school degree and stars in her eyes. She's going to move and shake the world: just you wait.

Kitsune Lore & June

Kitsune lore essentially divides kitsune two ways: by alignment (zenko for good/benevolent foxes and yako for bad/malignant foxes) or by element - of which there are 13. These are tenets I more or less follow. Zenko and yakko are reserved for internal separations: all supernatural species know at least vaguely of these two elements and divide the kitsune between them, but they are not inherent qualities. Kitsune know, however - almost instinctively! - the deeper divisions among their species, which are based on element. Although mortals tend to classify them into 13 subcultures, there are really only five: earth, water, fire, wind/air, and void, all of which come out of traditional Japanese elemental thinking.

Although initially thought to be kasai (fire kitsune). June found out in short order that she is truly kaze, or wind. As well as granting her the ability to shift into wind, ranging anywhere from a light breeze to a hard, tornado-like gust, being kaze has also made June exceedingly light of foot and well-balanced, even for a kitsune. Kaze is all about expansion–air in the lungs, free of form, free-moving. It means June is quick to adapt and always curious, forever expanding her mind and soul in her own carefree way. June tends to prefer the freedom of running as wind to the sensation of being incorporeal as shadow, just as she tends to favor her human form over her fox.

Rather than being born foxes who later attain human forms, kitsune are spirits - and only that. The spirit of the kitsune is quick and clever, exemplified on the living plane as a fox; when it first breeches the living plane, the kitsune spirit will merge with any young spirit of the right temperament. When kitsune were more common, it was assumed they were solely Japanese due to some genetic predisposition: their dying out did directly correlate with the intermarriage of many Japanese bloodlines with international families. Now, however, it is assumed that the weakest point between the spirit and living worlds resides in Japan, and the loss of the kitsune species was due to some unrelated event in the other world. Neither theory has been confirmed or denied.

At any rate, newborn kitsune spirits could meld with any living creatures, but most commonly found hosts in both foxes and humans. Over time, the species came to recognize both forms as their living homes, and so grant the ability to shift between the two at the earning of the first tail.

Most tails are earned at 100-year intervals: however, the first tail can be granted at any point between the first and the hundredth year. The nature of the kitsune lies dormant, unrecognized and unrecognizable, until the earning of the first tail: after that point, both biological and spiritual changes force the spirit host to become kitsune. (It was always there, just not always noticeable or predictable.)

Kitsune are ultimately mortal: though naturally long-lived and immune to most worldly diseases, due to their otherwordly origins, kitsune can be injured, incapacitated, and even killed in very mortal fashions. They can live only into perpetuity on earning their hundredth tail and ascending onto a plane not unlike godhood, at which point much of their dealing on the living plane comes to an end. It is assumed they can live forever then - but it’s yet to have been proven, since no kitsune has returned to an approachable plane to make this clear.
