Silly headcanon question: which clones do you think are the cutest first thing in the morning? Which ones are grumpy? Would this change when they wake up with their SO or would SO understand and make caf to help them get less grump?
Ok, I think I went a little overboard... let's break this down into a couple different categories:
Cute, early risers:
Rex - man's got lots of things to do and chaos to try and manage. He usually hits the ground running, and is the one making other people their caf
Cody - again, another one of those 'places to go, things to do', always busy types. He pretty much taught Rex everything he knows
Cute, but disoriented:
Fives - The amount of times this man has tripped over himself trying to get up and out of his bunk... There's a couple minutes of slight bewilderment and trying to remember who and where he is, but then he usually up and ready for whatever he's getting himself into today.
Wrecker - big boi is a solid sleeper that can and will fall asleep anywhere and sleep through anything. He doesn't wake up easy, but he does wake up in a good mood at least.
Adorably and endearingly grumpy:
Tech - did he just wake up, or is he coming off of his third all-nighter in a row? There's really no way too tell because whether it's been a 20 minute power nap, or a 20 hour black out, either way Tech wakes up like he's not sure what year it is, and absolutely prepared to claw someone's eyes out to get to a caf machine
Echo - granted, he's usually low-key grumpy on a regular basis because unfortunately he keeps getting attached to idiots with no sense of self preservation or common sense, but it always seems like no matter how much sleep he does manage to get, it's never enough. He just wants to be able to drink one cup of caf while it's still warm before he starts getting pulled in twelve deferent directions (#momproblems)
Hunter - in a pretty similar boat to Echo with the added bonus of waking up already over stimulated. Don't get him wrong, man loves his brothers (and his daughter) but it is 0600, and his eye is already twitching. It is too early for any of y'all to be this dang loud.
Grumpy and annoyed until fully awake:
Crosshair - usually there is an underlying hint of playfulness to his hostility - kind of like a grumpy old cat... Not right now. He's liable to actually stab someone until he's had some time and at minimum one cup of caf.
Wolffe - again, man is usually kind of grumpy by default. Now we just have the added bonus of 'not a functional human being... yet'. He will come around, he's just going hit anyone who tries to speak to him before that with a glare that's going to make them shrivel up and die a little inside. Don't hold it against him though, man doesn't even have the energy to roll his eyes yet.

THE TROJANS SOCIAL MEDIA AU HEADCANONS pt. 1
laila dermott
laila dermott is muslim!! i've had this headcanon since i read the king's men for the first time in 2019 hehe and now is my time to push it.
nabil & laila are besties. they're both muslim and both in same-sex relationships which leads to them having an understanding of each other like no one else on the team could have with them.
ntm laila fr was his standing pillar when he was figuring out his sexuality
nabil mahmoud
nabil is gay!! which is something he really had to deal with and accept due to him being muslim too (bc what am i without the religious trauma due to sexuality lore)
nabil and tony are dating each other in the socmed au!! even without the au i would like to believe and headcanon there's something happening there :))
i've written a bit more about them in another headcanon post tho.
antonio "tony" jones
tony is what like a year or two older than the rest? he's an assistant and i'm not sure how old they're supposed to be in the book tbh so i would like to think it's possible or he's an intern (i love him being an intern either way tho so i'm very much leaning into that one)
jeremy knox
JEREMY KNOX USED TO PLAY FOOTBALL (soccer), but due to him playing so aggressively and due to him always being guilty of too many fouls he switched to exy :))
cody winter
cody doesn't know what sleep is and they don't care to find out. they're living on like 2 to 4 hours a sleep a night and surprisingly enough it works for them too.
cody is also SUPER competitive which is why they have managed to be part of the captain gc. their competiteviness has led to them pushing the backliners as much as cody can and the backliners actually listen to them too.
shawn anderson
oh shawn. shawn shawn shawn.
you were supposed to be no one. a random guy on the team.
you exist to me now. i feel like i could make a whole post about just him atp.
shawn was supposed to be comedic relief for the posts i felt were too out of character for the rest of the team LMAOO, but now he actually has a personality (to me)
shawn works a part time shop at a café. even though he's surrounded by coffee at all times and drinks so much of it he's the sleepiest guy to ever exist.
like that man gets about 8 hours a sleep every day and still takes nap, but still ends up with bags under his eyes.
he's always tired for some reason and everyone is so used to it atp. like he will ALWAYS sleep on the bus/airplane, no matter how long the drive/flight is.
but when he's finally awake he's so hyper. he says the silliest things. repeats the same phrases over and over again and has about zero filter.
most of the time the zero filter has to do with the fact he speaks before he thinks. it even catches himself off guard sometimes.
i feel like this is too long and we haven't even gotten into jean and shawn dynamic so i'm just gonna cut it off here and they’ll get another part i think
derrick allen
bro we don't even know who derrick is, but apparently he's someone to me now too.
this man has crazy attachment issues, but is also the biggest simp for shawn too.
he likes going around kissing shawn and making out with shawn, but whenever shawn mentions something serious derrick acts like it's just a joke. which i guess is easy to do, because shawn is always treating everything as a joke anyways. except he's really not trying to when it comes to derrick.
jean falls victim to shawn ranting and crying about derrick. so jean respectfully ignores derrick til he gets his shit together.
and i just realised i have SO MUCH to say about derrick and shawn too so let me cut myself off.
derek thompson
same as shawn and derrick. derek is supposed to be a no one, but here i am and suddenly derek is being perceived by me too
SOOO derek was supposed to be like the third party with derrick and shawn. it was supposed to be the three of them flirting and making out and being little shits but then y'all were asking about derrick & shawn and i decided yk what let's do it. then later the short oneshot was written by oomf and derek got mentioned as the one shawn is in love with and i was like oh... i fucked up the dynamic. but in another universe it would've been the three of them ig
ANYWAYYSS derek takes medication. i haven't really decided on what kind of medications, but while thinking about him i always imagined either depression or adhd or both idk
and i have so many more headcanons for the au, but this is too long so i´ll post part 2 another time :))

Codywan week - day 5
I'm aware I'm late and I apologize for that, I didn't have much time for writing in the past few days and I'm only catching up now. I hope you still enjoy my story for day 5 of the @codywanweek. You can read it here, on Wattpad or on Ao3, whichever you prefere.
Prompt: original Kenobi series script, hurt / comfort, only one bed
A/N: Okay, so, for the record, I kinda forgot how exactly the Kenobi series is so I'll just make this up and you are going to pretend it actually lines up, thanks y'all for your definitely voluntary cooperation.
When Obi-Wan accepted Bail Organa's request and went looking for Leia, he didn't know he wasn't the only one looking for her. He should've expected it, Bail wasn't above sending more people just to be sure. Not when it was about his daughter.
It was a shock when he met his former commander, the man who betrayed him and shot him in the back during order 66. They met in the clone wars, their friendship grew in the clone wars and the thing that developed between them, whatever that was, ended with the clone wars.
They were allies now. Because when they were chasing after the same goal once again, it wouldn't make sense to compete. Obi-Wan firmly believed that Cody meant no danger to him now that his inhibitor chip was gone. That didn't mean it wasn't difficult to work with Cody again after everything that happened.
They still worked well together as a team. Even if the uncomfortable silence between action was the stark opposite of the pleasant moments they used to spend in silence during the war. Even if Obi-Wan's instincts still screamed at him whenever Cody pulled out his blaster.
Despite everything, they managed to complete the mission. They found Leia, escaped the inquisitor and Vader - okay, Obi-Wan was still recovering from that encounter but no one had to know that - and were just boarding the shuttle Bail sent them to get to Alderaan. How he managed to get an empty shuttle with clearance to their location will forever be a mystery for Obi-Wan.
"Yay, that's our ship!" Leia cheered as soon as they entered the ship. Obi-Wan wanted to answer something but the little demon of a child was gone before he could as much as open his mouth. "I'm going to my room!"
"Tubies," Cody muttered to himself. Back in the day, Obi-Wan would probably correct him, tell him that nat-born children weren't called tubies and that clone cadets probably shouldn't have been called that either. As it was, he just pretended he didn't hear. He wasn't sure Cody would still be up to a witty banter. The clone grew older over the years, thanks to the clones' accelerated aging, and with that he grew sadder and more serious, Obi-Wan could feel it in the force.
  "I will just-"
Before he could finish the sentence, Leia was already back. "There is a butterfly in my room," she announced.
"Is that a problem?" Obi-Wan asked.
"Yes. I don't like butterflies," Leia informed him. It was a little odd, most children hated spiders or worms, but what else was there to expect from a Skywalker, right?
"But butterflies are lovely," Cody tried to object. A huge mistake. Objecting to a Skywalker rarely ended well.
"No, they are not," Leia pouted. "Butterflies are ugly little monsters and I hate them."
"Do you want me to take it out?" Cody offered. He was doing his best to cover his amusement but wasn't entirely successful.
"Yes. Take it far, far away."
"Of course, ad'ika," Cody agreed easily and ruffled Leia's hair, earning an outraged huff from the girl, before he went to fulfill his task. Cody was nothing if not efficient and in a moment, the butterfly was gone.
"Thank you, Cody," Leia thanked because she was well raised. Obi-Wan was proud of her. She was going to make a great politician and diplomat one day, she inherited all the skills needed from Padmé.
"You are welcome, Leia. Will you be fine on your own now, or do you need something else."
"I'll be fine," Leia assured him before she jogged off again.
After that, nothing happened. And Obi-Wan meant literally nothing. He and Cody were just standing there, not saying anything. It was rather awkward. "Shall we take a look at the rest of the ship?"
"Yeah... Yeah, that sounds like a good idea," Cody agreed.
They explored the ship, found the incredibly small cockpit, Leia's room - they didn't dare to enter -, bathroom, small kitchen and another bedroom. There was one room missing.
"Where is the other bedroom?" Cody asked but Obi-Wan could tell he already knew the answer.
"There is no other bedroom," Obi-Wan voiced it for them both. Of course there was no other bedroom. It was the Organas' personal shuttle, made for three people, Leia, Bail, and Breha, his wife. It explained the way Leia immediately labeled one of the rooms as hers. "It's fine, I will sleep in the cockpit."
"I'm not letting you sleep there, there's no room to sleep comfortably," Cody dismissed the idea.
"I'm afraid it will be necessary."
"You take the bed, I will sleep in the cockpit."
"You just said the cockpit was too small!" Obi-Wan argued.
"Well, then we will have to share," Cody blurted out. He didn't look ashamed but he did feel ashamed in the force. "I mean... We used to share sometimes. During the war."
It was true. They shared their bed sometimes, when they were planet side on a campaign and there weren't enough bunks, or when it was cold and sharing heat was the only way to stay warmer. But that's something that used to be. Before Cody shot him. People who shot at each other usually didn't share beds, Obi-Wan was sure of that. "It's okay, I will stay in the cockpit." It wasn't like Obi-Wan could possibly get a good sleep either way, he was too anxious with his former commander around.
"With all due respect, you need sleep too, general."
"I have the force, I will be fine."
"Ten years, general. Ten years and you are still the same self sacrificing di'kut. I guess it was too much to hope you got some self preservation instinct.
Now that was just insulting. But not in a bad way. Cody used the same annoyed but fond tone he used during the war when he had to convince Obi-Wan to take a break from paper work or to get something to eat. It felt like the good old times for a moment. And Obi-Wan knew that Cody wasn't going to budge until he got what he wanted. "Fine."
"I'm glad we found a solution convenient to both of us, general," Cody said. He had the audacity of smirking at Obi-Wan.
  "Not your general anymore."
"You will always be my general." Cody shrugged. It sounded like there was a deep meaning behind those words but Obi-Wan didn't have time to think about it. "I will get the shuttle flying."
Everything was fine for the entire duration of an hour and half. Until it was time to get some sleep. How was Obi-Wan supposed to sleep with someone who tried to kill him sleeping next to him, he didn't know.
"I suppose it's time to go to sleep," Cody voiced his thoughts. He started taking his armor off, piece by piece, following the same routine Obi-Wan saw him perform many, many times, until he was stripped down to his blacks. Obi-Wan removed the outer layer of his robes and his tunic but kept the rest of his clothes on. The shuttle should be relatively safe, with shields and alarm, but war has taught him to never be unprepared. And he wouldn't feel all that comfortable sleeping in just underwear with Cody there either.
"Where did you get those?" Cody asked. Obi-Wan had no idea what he was talking about. "The scars. They are new."
Right, it wasn't all that long ago that he fought Vader and almost burned in lava. Bacta could fix a lot of things but it had it's limits. "I fought Vader."
"Yes, I am aware. You just forgot to mention you almost died."
"Don't be dramatic! It's nothing serious."
Cody gave him his infamous unimpressed stare. "I'm not even going to ask you if it hurts because I know you are going to deny it. I will get you some pain meds."
  "That won't be-"
"Stop lying, Obi-Wan." Obi-Wan. The last time Cody has called him that was the faithful day on Utapau. "You know you don't have to lie to me."
Obi-Wan knew. Before Utapau. He wasn't so sure now.
Cody wasn't force sensitive. Yet he still seemed to pick on Obi-Wan's feelings. "I'm sorry you can't trust me anymore."
Maybe it was Cody's sad smile. Maybe it was the pain that radiated from Cody in the force. Maybe it was something entirely different. But it did the thing. Because no matter what, Obi-Wan couldn't bear to be the cause of Cody's pain and sorrow. "I trust you, Cody." Obi-Wan was surprised to realize that he actually meant it.
There were no words for the way Cody lit up in the force, like the gold sunbeams that used to decorate his armor. He repainted it, made it gray. Obi-Wan wasn't sure if the color was picked simply because Cody deemed it more appropriate or as a sign of mourning, because that was the meaning of gray in mandalorian culture. It wasn't the first time Obi-Wan wondered how Cody did it, how he escaped the empire, made peace with almost all of his brothers being gone. Obi-Wan lost everything too but he was a Jedi. Jedi were always prepared to let go.
Wordlessly, Cody passed Obi-Wan a pill he fished out of his med kit. Obi-Wan just hoped it wasn't a poison. Nothing in Cody suggested that he was trying to get rid of Obi-Wan but Obi-Wan was rarely sure nowadays.
"Let's go to sleep," Obi-Wan suggested. There was no reason to make it more awkward than it already was. He settled on the bed, as close to the edge as he dared. Cody did the same. This was just awkward.
"Good night," Cody whispered as he covered himself with a blanket.
  "Good night."
Obi-Wan couldn't sleep. He rarely could. Everytime he closed his eyes, he saw visions. Visions of the past, visions of how things could have been. What if he hadn't fucked up so bad with Anakin, what if he noticed that the chancellor's interest in the boy was starting to be suspicious, what if he fought more against Ahsoka being expelled from the order, what if, what if, what if, wha-
Cody put a hand around Obi-Wan's waist in his sleep. Obi-Wan's first reaction was panic. He tried to shuffle further away from Cody to which the other man grumbled unhappily and pulled Obi-Wan closer to him. The emotions were overwhelming in the beginning. Then Obi-Wan allowed himself to relax in Cody's arms. He closed his eyes again.
There were no nightmares. No memories. No visions. No what ifs. No. This time, the only thing Obi-Wan saw was the sun, warm and bright, just like the man besides him.

Who is your favorite human character from Rescue Bots?
(yet another example of a seemingly short post turning long)
My favorite human character in Rescue Bots has been tied between Kade and Dani. Dani is just a really fun character and I feel myself relating to her and her daredevilness. She in all is a pretty popular character as well.
Now I know that people don't generally like Kade
But I have my reasons.
I love asshole characters, especially ones that could be considered loveable assholes. I considered Kade to be one of the characters, even if the show didn't handle the trope well. Kade is honestly a character that needs to grow on you. Sometimes it's quick, sometimes it takes all four seasons. For me, it was the second episode.
That episode was honestly the peak of being an older sibling. How I know? I'm an older sibling.
In that episode we see our general Kade characteristics. He is egotistical, a jerk to Heatwave, and a jerk to members of his family. I honestly believe these are valid reasons to not like him, especially if your favorites are Heatwave or Cody. (Yes I am calling y'all out) However, he still cares about all of them, especially for the bots after that episode.
Kade literally older sibling freaked out when it was revealed Cody was in danger. He (mostly) kept his calm cause he is a first responder, that is in the job description to keep a level head, but he was still scared about Cody's safety. His first priority was getting there first to stop the lava, and when Heatwave revealed he was also scared for the younger Burns child, that is what started Kade's respect for him.
Now I will admit, how he got with Hayley was not a good example for a kids show. No one owes you a date just cause you save their life. However, if Hayley truly was not interested later on after that, she wouldn't continue going on dates with him. Their relationship from what we see in the show isn't the healthiest, but it's nothing bad to be purely honest. Hayley has boundaries she clearly sets, as seen in the episode where Kade gets cloned 5 times over. She speaks her mind to him, and pushes him to not be a complete jerk. And Kade respects her wishes! The show, if it did focus more on their relationship, could have pushed for Kade to have more character growth as their relationship grew. However, the show was not built to work with that kind of story plot.
As for how Kade acts with his family, you can see he instantly backtracks when he realizes his words have hurt his family. I truly believe he doesn't think before he speaks. A character flaw, yes, but it does not represent his true morals and ethics. He wouldn't be on a rescue team if he was a truly terrible person. In the episode where the bots are struck with a sickness from the meteor, he tries to rationalize the situation in his own way of coping. But as soon as he realizes that the way of coping he was using wasn't helping Cody, he changes his tune to support Cody's way of coping. In the Squilsh episode, we see him try to argue that he should be the last to leave the area, he didn't want to leave Graham behind and alone. It was Chief having to push him to Blade's ladder to make him leave and get to safety.
And it isn't like we don't see him being anything but an egotistical asshole, we see him genuinely scared. The gremlins episode is a perfect example of this. Kade had a big phobia of them, he barely got any sleep cause of nightmares dealing with them, and he didn't want to enter the power plant cause of it being overrun by them. However, it isn't like he didn't do anything to overcome it. He went to Doc Greene to find a solution, and when it did backfire, Kade didn't back down. Heatwave also showed some great character development in this episode, he didn't make fun of Kade too much for his fear, and even encouraged him to get into the powerplant. Kade was then able to overcome the fear, showing growth in his character.
And on the topic of Heatwave and Kade's relationship. They remind me so much of my own relationship with one of my best friends. We make fun of each other, we are assholes to each other, he makes fun of my autism, I make fun of him being a twink. But we are still best friends. We know the limits and boundaries of our jokes, and it isn't just us being assholes to each other 24/7. We have genuine hearts to hearts, we give each other advice, and we help each other out through difficulties in our life. This is exactly what Heatwave and Kade's relationship is, though not a direct parallel to my relationship.
Heatwave isn't innocent in the beginning with how he treats Kade, just as Kade is not innocent. They are both unfiltered, unreasonable assholes to each other. Heatwave is mad that Optimus Prime won't let him join the Prime Team, and he takes that out on being a pessimistic jerk to the situation they are in. He does not want to be on Griffin Rock, and that is evident. Kade, doesn't reasonably want to work and be inside of an alien. ANY REASONABLE PERSON WOULD BE LIKE THAT. However, it does not excuse his treatment of Heatwave, who is another sentient being. Heatwave is a genuine jerk throughout the first season. It is evident he only cares about his team and Cody. The flobster's episode is a good example of this, he won't care until it is his job. Now, he does grow out of this, which is good cause character development, we love that here.
As the season goes on we see their relationship develop into this friendly "I hate your guts but I will kill for you" situation. (Obviously they do not actually hate each other's guts, but they still act like it) This kind of character development is my favorite! The show does a good job at showing this as well. If you compare the first few episodes of season 1, with the episodes of season 3 and 4, you can see how their relationship has changed. Neither of them are scared to speak their mind, and there is obviously respect in the relationship. Kade and Heatwave have grown to understand and respect each other, while still being jerks to each other. Heatwave is not afraid to make fun of Kade and vice versa, which honestly I believe is a clear sign of a good and healthy relationship. You can point out flaws in each other, and no one is going to instantly get butthurt. Boundaries just have to be established and maintained.
I wish the show could have further explored more of these character developments, not just in Kade but in everyone. However, it is a kids show meant for preschoolers, they just want to watch cool transforming robots save the day.
Another thing with Kade is that it is so fun in the fandom sphere to add headcanons and backstory. I love a character who you can do that with.

hi im putting all my asks in one post again. these are from like the past month and a half approx? some digimon thoughts some tmnt thoughts some art musings u know the usual
Tumblr media
@waywardistics YAYY thank you so much for ordering! I'm glad it got to you & that you are enjoying it!
this is kind of a missive to everyone who ordered but: I am very nervous about pre-orders whenever I do them... nervous that not very many people will order, nervous that there will be supply chain or production dilemmas and I won't be able to get copies out to people in a timely fashion, nervous about having people's money but having an indeterminate amt of time where i have not yet "held up my part of the bargain" etc etc SO. THANK U GUYS...FOR ORDERING and being patient and im so glad it got to y'all
Tumblr media
@seanonthemoon (idk why i cant tag u BUT) interesting... i gotta be honest I don't think abt the crests that much. i agree that they're very much like heres the "girl" crest heres the "nerd boy" crest etc to the point that it becomes almost meaningless. but i think what makes them even more meaningless to me, and is probably the reason they kind of designated girl/boy crests etc is that i think like the digivices they're toys and merchandise more than they are actual narrative tools LOL. I wouldve loved something with cody and mimi! theyre both so deeply empathetic and sensitive.. theres a lot they share but i think because they look so different on the surface it would make it difficult to market that merch...booo capitalism boooo toy marketing its all sexist bullshit at least here in the u.s. idk if japan is that different though.
I'm actually a little frustrated with how often 02 and 02 related media squanders cody in general lol. he feels like a parallel of izzy, joe, and TK(season 1 tk) while also being kind of none of those and suffering through lackluster characterization as a result... and then once ken joins the team it feels a little redundant. there's a couple cody-centric eps of 02 I remember really liking but then i think abt how he's been used since in like post-series content and 02:the beginning where they made him type on the computer even though obviously that's yoleis thing but because he had nothing else to do and aghh... my blood boils. i feel like the youngest but most serious anime achetype even at its bare bones is actually rly interesting idk why they don't play it up. UM. Once again my opinion is that he should be taller LOL and maybe they should play up his kendo martial arts honorable training stuff more idk. tallest + youngest + most serious just seems like a recipe for success for me. well. theres still time. and theres always fanfic.
Tumblr media
THIS IS SO NICE TO SAY and not the first time someone has said it but i appreciate it everytime because i really admire the mm art style so much. It's like part of why I got really into the movie because I really recognized my own artistic sensibilities and aspirations in the way they stylized everything.
Tumblr media
UM And i feel like since watching the movie and looking at all the concept art and making my own art i do feel like its only become more obvious how much my own art is lacking LOL LIKE when you see something that feels so similar I think the differences only become more stark. those artists are definitely on a different level than me. But it's nice to hear people say it doesn't look so different from their pov. thank u ^^
thank u!!!!!!! i love mundanity and naturalism... there's something so beautiful abt it to me lol... I feel like my anatomy needs work actually but ive been feeling better abt it this year so it's good to hear! thank you!
Tumblr media
DLKGDSGDLALSNDF WAS IT TOO FAR..?? firstly, yeah I was thinking late teen/young adult ages for both of them ie 18-19ish, definitely not the age the kids are in the movie lol.
Tumblr media
but also they arent DOING anything in that pic it is literally just a confrontation + some innuendo... I think teens should be allowed some less than subtle innuendo.. its like one of the top 3 classically teen pastimes...
this is such a funny ask to get because i feel like i haven't been able to do thin lineart until like. this past year or two maybe LOL. UM having a line-centric art job helped I think. I started on craig of the creek back in 2022 and thats a show where we spend a lot of time inking so I had a job where I was constantly moderating my line weight 40 hours a week every week for over a year. disappointingly, much of improvement is simply horrendous amounts of practice.
Here's a tip though: I think a lot of thin lineart boils down to confidence. I think instinctively we read thick, bold, fast lines as confident but theres actually a lot of obscuring you can do with a thick line. if you're not sure whether the nose on the face or a browline should be a little more left or a little more down you can hide that with a thick line and pretend its a shadow. or hide it with a bunch of quick lines and the eye can kind of approximate where looks best among the mass.. whereas a thin line is rly singular and stark and hides nothing, it needs to be precise. so anytime i know i want thin lineart i spend a LOT of time sketching, making sure i know exactly where i want my lines to go. so im not second guessing by the time im inking...
ok thats kind of a broad tip lol... here's one thats more applicable: IF POSSIBLE, lower your pressure sensitivity on your device. most devices have some way to edit your pressure sensitivity curve. I use a surface pro at home and this is what my pressure curve looks like most of the time.
Tumblr media
When I work on a wacom it looks even more like a reverse L shape LOL. I'm naturally a really heavy-handed artist and I use a "light" or "hard" pressure curve to compensate for how hard I'm always pressing on the pen lol. if you're like me and you struggle with going too hard with the ink too fast... this will probably help a lot!
Tumblr media
SFHASLDFH I LOVE THIS ASK this is like the type of question a person gets asked when chalk drawing on the sidewalk at recess LOL. but i understand because I've been struggling also for like. months. I think I'm finally starting to nail it down though so here's some of my observations.
Tumblr media
[feel free to save this img but **please do not re-post it or share broadly**. my biggest fear in the world is to spend 30 min on some notes and become a widely proliferated art tutorial im not even kidding. i made it low contrast and difficult to read on purpose.]
my other tip is to just look at and study a lot of reference because that's all ive been doing. the tmnt are really cartoony so its difficult to use like actual anatomical reference unless ur going for that look BUT theres been so many adaptions in so many different styles that there's a real treasure trove of stuff to look at for how to simplify, stylize, and dissect these characters while keeping the recognizable essence. so theres lots to pull from.
Tumblr media
If you want to expand further, it's also good to have 5) something sci-fi 6)something fantasy 7)something mundane/slice of life. a bedroom is a really good go-to. And of course some bgs can be two or more of these things at once.
I've definitely answered asks abt bg tips before but here's one specifically for if you want to do bg design for a job:
Your portfolio should probably have at least one of each of the following 1) an interior 2) an exterior 3) a cityscape 4) a nature scene. Just to cover kind of the basics of what you'd be asked to draw on any given project.
I actually feel like I don't have that many cityscrapes in my portfolio... this is something I'm gonna try to work on in the coming year LOL. OH ALSO. This is a very basic tip and people will tell you it all the time but its worth repeating: look up portfolio websites of artists who have the job you want. An easy way to do this is to go onto imdb for any cartoon or movie you like and to find the names listed as "bg/background designer" or whatever then just google that name +"art" or "animation" most artists have some public facing internet presence so it's not hard. spend time studying their work and hold those images in your head! it's a good way to get a good idea of what "industry standard" looks like and comparing ur own art to it... I know people sometimes get bummed comparing their art to others but if you can keep your head up lol.. it'll help you figure out what you need to work on!
.
.
.
ok thats all i have to say sorry for typing so much. happy new year everybody who read this far LMAO!!!!!

TBB S3 TRAILER
Holy FUCK I was not prepared for this.
As soon as I saw the trailer posted on Instagram, I grabbed my laptop and casted the trailer on the TV and stood in front of the TV like an old asian man; hands behind the back, spine bent, feet planted shoulder width apart.
Cannot believe it's finally here and I've got a lot of thoughts that I'm going to put under the cut because holy shit, this trailer hit me like a brick.
Idk if they will be comprehensive honestly but I'm writing them down as I rewatch the trailer.
In summary though? This season is going to absolutely wreck me and I will never recover from it emotionally and probably financially too if we get a new wave of merch and shit with it too.
Anyways, thoughts and reactions under the cut-
What the fuck are they doing with that transport? They stealing something? Retrieving something? Is it a tank? Hello, where is Echo??? IS THAT FUCKING CROSSHAIR?! IN S1 ARMOR???
Tumblr media
PHEE GENOA!! so fucking great to see her again, I'm going to be absolutely devastated if they show us her reaction to Tech's supposed death.
CAPTAIN REX MY LOVE YOU'VE COME HOME!! "I thought the end of the war would mean the end to losing more of our brothers" <- that better be about Tech and not about Cody, so help me god-
OMEGA'S NEW HAIRCUT :( she looks so much older now :((
STOP CROSSHAIR LOOKS SO FUCKING SAD. I feel terrible actually... this is like,, this is a shell of a man,, like,, this is a man who's got like,, nothing. He looks awful and I swear if he doesn't get some peace of mind I'm going to lose my mind.
Tumblr media
"Omega's been waiting for us a long time." NO NO NO DON'T FUCKING DO THIS TO ME. I SWEAR TO FUCKING GOD IF YOU DO A TIMESKIP, ANY MEASURE OF TIME THAT OMEGA HAD TO BE WITHOUT HER BROTHERS AND WONDERING WHEN THEY WERE GOING TO COME AND GET HER IT'S GOING TO BREAK ME. I fucking hate timeskips so much, I swear if she's been by herself for more than a year, or even just a year, I'm going to be PISSED. If she doesn't get the chance to be a kid like she deserves I'm going to fucking lose it.
PALPATINE?! "There is nothing of greater importance to secure the purpose of this Empire" <- y'all talking about cloning? About cloning Palpatine because you have to explain why "somehow Palpatine returned"???
HEY WHO THE FUCK IS THIS?!
Tumblr media
Holy shit the animation is really good. Like that whole fighting montage?? The fucking scene on the bridge looks like,, fucking live action to me. Idk how to describe it but the animation is fuckng beautiful and I wish Star Wars did more animation because this is gorgeous.
FENNEC SHAND MY LOVE!! MY WIFE RETURNS!!! PLEASE BE IN MORE THAN ONE EPISODE MY QUEEN I LOVE YOU SO MUCH!! and Cad Bane is there too ig-
Tumblr media
"They are coming, for all of you." <- who is this. do not come for me but I cannot for the life of me figure out who this is. It's not Cody, I don't see the scar. Someone help me out here-
WOLFFE IS BACK BABY!!! FUCK I CANNOT WAIT TO SEE HIM IN TBB ART STYLE
Tumblr media
HUNTER ON PABU! Thinking they probably went back after everything and I want to see how they've adjusted and settled in, please, I am begging.
My baby, my angel, myivida, the light of my life. Fuck it's so good to see and hear you again. If anything happens to you I swear to god-
Tumblr media
LMAOO DID HUNTER JUST GET YOINKED BY A SPACE CROC?!?! WAIT THEY'RE ON THE BOAT WITH FENNEC!!!! AAAAAAAAAAAAA
Tumblr media
There are two clips that allude to the fact that they get Crosshair out of there before they get Omega and I'm going feral over it. If this means we get them reuniting with Crosshair sooner than later I'm fucking ecstatic. Like because,, that's Crosshair's rifle and they clearly cropped the screen for the sake of the trailer, right? Right??
Tumblr media
Hey where is the zillo beast?
ASAJJ VENTRESS??!?! WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE?! You're telling me,, I get a season,, with Wrecker, Wolffe, Fennec, AND Asajj? Oh be still my beating heart. Anyone hear something meowing?
Tumblr media
Also I know in the trailer it seems like she's facing off with TBB but the backgrounds don't really seem to line up so I'm hoping they don't actually face off with each other.
Tech literally only being indirectly mentioned and showing his death scene again but recolored and shit makes me feel all kinds of things.
Fuck. Fuck. Fuck. Fuck.
3 EPISODE PREMIERE?!?!?!?!?!?! fuck me.
Echo wasn't in this trailer enough and where the FUCK was Cody?!?!?!?!
Fuck.

Favorite Intrepid Heroes Characters:
Now that I have finished watching all of the Dimension 20 campaigns (currently running one notwithstanding, obviously), I want to talk about my favorite characters played by the Intrepid Heroes!
Emily Axford:
Okay, listen, Emily is a very talented player who knows how to make a character work, but this was the easiest call for me. I am in love with Unsleeping City's Sofia Bicicleta Lee, she is one of my favorite PCs overall.
The badass martial arts wife of the ultimate wife guy, whose best friend is a talking rat. Plus, she looks like Fran Drescher and I mean, c'mon, I'm just a lesbian born in the early 90s. How could I not.
I'm afraid I don't have a 'close' second for Emily, because all her characters are great and close together, but Sofia shoots out for me.
Lou Wilson:
It's kind of funny how Lou and Emily are inherently linked for me in this, because until I watched ACoFaF, I thought I'd be putting Unsleeping City's Kingston Brown down here.
However, absolutely everything A Court of Fey and Flowers' Squak Airavis has going on is so utterly impeccable. He is such a queer mess, it's amazing. (And it's linked to Emily, because something very important about him is his dynamic with his dear cousin Chirp.)
Zac Oyama:
I'm glad that ACoFaF made me pick Squak for Lou, because otherwise, this would feel like just a list of Unsleeping City characters, because for Zac, it's so very clearly and definitely Ricky Matsui.
The ultimate himbo. The courageous firefighter with his good boy puppy. Absolute wife guy even though he takes too damn long to figure that getting-married-part out. I love Ricky so, so, so much.
Though, second place shout-out to Colin Provolone from Ravening War, that lil cheese knight was so much fun to enjoy and he had so much tension, it was incredible.
Brian Murphy:
My favorite Fantasy High PC - Riz 'The Ball' Gukgak, hands down. That wanna be detective boy is too precious, plus, as an ace I was so, so, so hyped and excited about the rep in him.
Second place shout-out, once more, to Unsleeping City and... surprisingly, to Cody Walsh. I love Kugrash a whole lot, but there was something utterly hilarious to Cody.
Siobhan Thompson:
Hers was my favorite character on A Starstruck Odyssey - I love Riva. They were also such a refreshing flavor for Siobhan, honestly? They were utterly precious and adorable and sweet.
Second place... okay, look, it's Unsleeping City again, yeah. But out of the two characters she played, I actually loved Iga Lisowski more. The Polish mom who guards the dragon. Amazing character pitch, honestly.
Ally Beardsley:
Actually genuinely the hardest choice because Ally is amazing at creating characters. But as a lesbian with a certain type, I am obliged to say A Starstruck Odyssey's Margaret Encino. A hot lady with a purpose and a load of money. When they started calling her Mommy? Oh boy fans self. It was also so much fun to see a character who didn't really do combat but actually got so much done with business calls. Competence is sexy, y'all.
Second place goes to Lars Vandenchomp from Mice and Murder though. Love me a loyal himbo and they were such a good puppy? Amazing.

“‘How many time’s she’s’ what?” Hunter asked.
Sinya shook her head rapidly. “I said too much, I can’t-”
Hunter moved in close. “Tell us…now,” he growled.
The intimidation sunk into the twi’lek, and she appeared to become more uncomfortable by the second. She swallowed, her fingers fidgeting.
“How many times she’s died.”
“She- that’s not possible,” Echo muttered, eyes wide.
“It’s a curse,” Sinya shrugged. “It happened when she was young. She doesn’t like to-”
“Unless she was resuscitated, it would have been impossible for her to have died,” Tech interjected.
Crosshair shook his head. “But that blaster shot she took before she was assigned to us; she couldn’t have survived that, right?”
“I mean, she’s here, isn’t she?” Sinya replied. “Obi Wan told me about that one. It was pretty rough.”
“You can say that again; that shot knocked her out of the frontlines for six weeks,” Echo scowled.
“We’re still not sure what she lost that time,” she hummed, mouth pulling into a tight line. “She won’t go through the list with me, not that she’s added anything to it recently anyway.”
“Jainey loses stuff, too? I lose stuff all the time,” Wrecker chuckled nervously, earning a sharp look from Hunter.
“She doesn’t lose objects like that. She loses memories. Obi Wan told me that the first one she lost was of her first love.”
Tech cleared his throat. “Her-”
“That isn’t something I’ll tell you,” Sinya interrupted, her words forming a sharp edge. “That story is hers to tell if she wants.”
Wrecker shifted his weight between his feet, eyes trained at the floor. “What if she- will she forget us?”
“Wrecker-” Tech’s voice came, vague irritation along with it.
“I don’t know,” Sinya answered, the corners of her mouth coming up in a reassuring smile. “But I don’t think she could forget you boys if she tried.”
Wrecker nodded, a small grin matching hers.
The rest of the recording included Sinya saying her goodbyes and a brief squabble over taking watches.
“So it’s true then; she has to come back. She’s cursed to come back,” Crosshair rasped, his voice still shaky, as he combed Jaine’s hair away from her face, her head in his lap. “She has to come back.”
“Cuir’ika,” Tech said, his voice low. “We cannot begin to understand how this supposed curse works, or if it exists at all.”
“She has to come back,” Crosshair repeated, making it clear that he wasn’t listening to his twin any longer.
Tech sighed, pulling himself to his feet. Camp had been made here at the bank of the river, despite Tech pointing out that it was not an ideal place to set up, even for a short period of time. But there was no moving his brother.
Tech walked the short distance to the small shelter Hunter and Wrecker set up.
“Still won’t budge?” Hunter asked, already knowing the answer.
Tech gave a small nod. “His vitals show no sign of deterioration, even if he seems to be in shock.”
Hunter hummed an acknowledgment.
“Have Echo and Wrecker had any luck finding a signal?”
Hunter sighed. “Last he checked in, he was trying to find a tall tree to climb. We managed to get a partial message through to Cody, but it wasn’t much.”
Tech nodded. For the first time since- well, ever in his life, everything seemed still. The numerous sounds that always surrounded him, constantly pulling him in and whipping his brain into a faster pace, seemed to be somewhat quieter now. He could still hear them if he listened; the rush of the water flowing down the river, the leaves rustling as the wind shook their branches, Crosshair’s quiet, reassuring mantra.
“You look tired,” Hunter noted, having watched Tech’s eyes close as he concentrated on what he could hear. “You should rest.”
“I have the most training in field medical aid out of the rest of us,” Tech replied. “I should be alert if anything were to happen.”
“Tech-”
“I am fine, Hunter,” Tech asserted as he began to tap rapidly at his data pad.
Hunter sighed heavily. “Tech, don’t you think it’s time you stopped lying to me?”
“I am not-” Tech began, but was cut off by the tired incredulous look on Hunter’s face.
“We’ve never…lost one of our own,” Hunter lamented, his eyes focusing on Crosshair by the riverbank. “Years of testing and training and torture, hundreds of missions, too many close calls, but we made it through it all. But now…”
Tech watched as Hunter’s eyes squeezed closed, noticed the way his jaw and fists clenched, saw his shoulders slump almost imperceptibly, heard his breaths quicken. He always had to see the details- all of the details. He put it together in his head; it had been a long time since he had seen these tiny clues on his eldest brother. Hunter was scared- terrified, really.
“Sol’ika,” Tech whispered, knowing it would be loud enough for his brother to hear. “This is not your fault.”
Before Hunter could begin to respond, a small ping sounded from his vambrace, followed by a shout from Wrecker, not far away.
“It’s Cody,” he said, standing up.
“Sergeant,” Cody greeted, the sound of blaster fire and explosions in the background.  “Heard you boys are out on Damussa, but you said this was urgent?”
“Yes, sir,” Hunter uttered. His heart had dropped into his boots and his mouth felt drier than the sands of Tatooine. “Commander, Is the General available? This message concerns both of you.”
“We’re a bit busy,” Cody hummed, his head snapping towards some sound that barely came through the static. “Can this possibly wait?”
“Commander, it’s-”
Another explosion sounded through the comm, followed by a crash and a loud grunt.
“Hello dear,” Obi Wan’s voice dripped like honey. “Fancy meeting you here.”
“Sergeant Hunter, you’ve got your window now. Make it quick.”
Hunter tried to steady his breath. “General Kenobi, sir. It’s J-...I regret to inform you that Lieutenant Vale-”
The words choked in his throat, the air in his lungs seemed to turn to lead.
Through the static of the signal, the blaster fire, the bombs, Hunter could make out Kenobi’s faint voice. “Jainera?”
The line continued with simply the background noise of war.
“Thank you for informing us, Hunter,” Obi Wan finally answered, his voice a schooled calm, but lacking its usual character. “We are less remote and will have better luck getting a message through to Sinya on Coruscant. Stay safe, Sergeant.”
With that, the line cut, and Hunter sank back down onto the log he’d been occupying before, praying to gods he couldn’t believe in for…someone- anyone to guide him through this.
Starlight, a quiet voice hummed in his ears, causing his whole body to tense up. His hair stood on end as his eyes darted around.
“Hunter?” Tech questioned, but his voice seemed distant.
Relax, the voice called again.
Hunter scowled as he stood up, eyes searching the area. He couldn’t see anyone - or anything - that could be calling to him like this. He was vaguely aware of Tech vying for his attention, asking if he was okay or what he was hearing, but right now he could hear a threat and he needed to gather information.
I’m no threat, Starlight.
Hunter just about growled, somewhat startling Tech.
“Hunter,” he repeated, placing his hand on his brother’s shoulder, following his line of sight towards Crosshair and Jaine.
“There,” Hunter breathed, slowly approaching the riverbank. The unshakable focus in his expression and the way his stance adjusted reminded Tech of a predator stalking some prey, and not for the first time.

Note
wanna know the mods most unpopular and controversial opinions... cmon give us the scoop!!!
alright, idk how controversial they are but here goes
While TDWT is very good, it's kind of overrated
TDPI is NOT that bad y'all are being dramatic
Cody is such a nothing character, it actually fascinates me how he's so popular. he's alright I guess? sometimes he is funny? idk I feel so little about him it's insane
on that note I don't rlly care for Noco (though that's becoming more of a common take)
More of a fandom take but people care way too much about what ships and characters other people do and don't like. whatever happened to like and let like, guys
While All-Stars is bad imo, it's still enjoyable for me. mostly because Mal is so ridiculous it's funny. also TDAS likers/defenders I salute you
Sky. Is. Not. Zoey. They are not the same. Like even slightly.
While it is true that TD is a parody, that doesn't mean it's exempt from things like shitty writing and character derailment
I would say something about Duncan here but my opinion of him changes so frequently that whatever I said would be outdated in like five minutes
okay that was a lot of negativity, let's have some more positive stuff
Max is the funniest character alive, like I do not agree with the idea of him being 'annoying'. he's such a gremlin and he ruined the word Wyoming for me /pos
Katie and Sadie deserve the world actually
Beth is my pick for canon winner of TDA
I have changed my mind about Sugar and Leonard, I love them actually I have been stupid this whole time
Nemma isn't my favourite but it does not deserve the hate, it's a fine ship
I LOVE the Zeke episode of TDAS (though I am very biased)
The reboot cast is probably my favourite TD cast, I like literally all of them
Tbf I don't?? think there's a single TD character I hate??
hope this doesn't disappoint, lol

13, 14, and 15 for the choose violence ask?
Oh boy.
I am about to get unpopular (to be fair, I don't know if I'm even popular).
13. Worst blorbfication.
Admittedly, I am An Old, and have a tenuous grip on the meaning of some of these fandom words, but I believe this is just generally a term for "let's really hyperfixate on this particular character, possibly to the point of misunderstanding or completely rewriting their character." Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.
Cody. Fight me.
I love clones. I understand why they're a popular group of characters to love and write about and make art for. I adore Rex and Wolfe and Gregor. The Bad Batch boys. Beloved Howzer. But the absolute rabidness for Cody makes zero sense to me.
His main personality trait is…. competent? He is a human shaped wall for Obi-Wan to talk at. And he does talk at him. Obi-Wan has more dialogue with Rex, Waxer, and Boil (and probably some others, but TCW is long and I can only remember so much) than he ever does with Cody. He has more chemistry with Rex!
Clearly this is Codywan related, and, by all means, ship and let ship, but I just really wish people understood that 99% of Cody's so-called personality is absolutely fanon. Not canon. He's boring and flat in canon. Some people write a beautiful character for him, and I appreciate that, but please understand the FANS are making him interesting. He isn't actually interesting. And to be clear, it is the Cody fans that are the brilliant, creative masterminds behind making Cody an interesting character. That's you! Not the creators! Be proud of what YOU created! Be mad your favorite blorbo got the personality of a doorstop in canon!
Runner up is the Armorer, especially in regards to shipping her with Bo-Katan. Y'all, she is not a nice person. Again, ship and let ship, but your favorite lesbian is a cult leader who leads a cult that actively works at alienating the members from each other, she kicked Din out, called him an apostate, and told him he could only be forgiven by doing what was thought, until he steamrolled him way through the challenge, to be an impossible task. She's bad. And it's ok to let bad guys be bad! The baddies are more interesting, anyway! I can go on and on about this but I won't. If you want more, send me an ask.
Honorable mention is woobyfying any baddie. It's cool to dive into why a baddie is bad, but please, for the love of all that is good and holy, understand that it is ok, fun, right, and highly entertaining to love baddies because they are bad. One merely has to read a few of my fics to understand how much I love my garbage boys (Pre Vizsla, Maul, Dryden Vos, Orson Krennic). Let your baddies be bad. You will have more fun, I promise.
14. That one thing you see in fics all the time.
Confession: I read very little fic these days (prefer to write in my downtime), and I typically only read fic written by certain people OR fic that is recommended to me by people who know what I like. I was curious the other day, and clicked on the Obi-Wan/Satine tag on AO3 and was instantly reminded why I have become so discerning about what I read. Despite being on their tag, the first 4 or 5 fics were actually Codywan, Jango/Obi, ArmorBo for some reason, and possibly something else that was definitely not an Obitine fic. And all of those fics were not kind to Satine.
So, this is why I'm pretty picky about fics (keep in mind, I read pretty much only fics about Obi-Wan and/or Kryzes. I have extremely limited interests when it comes to fic, though I'm always up for some good Mara Jade!).
I don't like most m/m Obi-Wan fics. Not because I don't like m/m or I'm a homophobe, or anything like that, but because Obi-Wan is so often written to be a fragile, delicate flower in need of some big strong clone or not-Mandalorian Mandalorian to care for him. And Satine is some mean, bitchy blonde lady who performed cultural genocide. I hate ALL of this. (For the record, while I don't actively seek out Obikin because it just isn't my jam, every one that I have read has been great, because both of them are so well understood by those that write them).
I hate any and all Kryze slander. Full stop. Bo's hate has slowed some with season 3 of Mando (though a lot of people writing her still don't get her because they haven't seen her in anything else, and just don't realize just how far she has really, truly come, or why the absence of Satine's name is felt so deeply by those of who have loved Bo for so long). Satine hate is alive, well, and very strong.
I also do not like most fics that take you out of a galaxy far far away (I have some exceptions). I love Star Wars because of space wizards, spaceships, laser swords, and aliens. It's fine if you want to pull them out of that world and plop them in….I don't know, a university on earth, but I won't be reading it. It takes all the fun right of it for me.
15. That one thing in fanart you see all the time.
Honestly, I'm never going to gripe about art, really. Obviously, the things that bug me above pertain to artwork, too, but artwork doesn't demand the same time and commitment that reading a fic does. If art isn't for me, be it characters, or style, or whatever, I just scroll on by. If it is, I make sure to like it and reblog it and share the love.
If you want to find out what's going to make you disown me, send me an ask from the Choose Violence ask game!

Incorrect quotas firefighter Duo and Cody addition
Cody: Sometimes I like to place my hands on someone’s cheeks, look into their eyes...
Cody: ...And violently jerk their head until it snaps.
Kade: ...That took an unexpected turn.
Heatwave: So did their neck.
Kade: Something tells me Cody's going to be a bit more unhinged today...
Cody, holding a lit match and a bag of cheetos: Leave me be, Heatwave isn't home to stop me, I'm going feral.
Heatwave: Guess what number I’m thinking of.
Kade: 420?
Heatwave: No, that’s really immature of you. Someone else guess, and please take this seriously.
Cody: 69.
Heatwave: Yeah it was 69.
Cody: *accidentally eats something too spicy so his eyes start to water*
Heatwave: cody, look at me. It's okay. I would die for you. I love you so much. You're the best person I know.
Cody: I'm not crying?
Heatwave, hugging Cody in his hand: shhhh
*Cody sneezes*
Heatwave: cody, are you sick? Here, let me wrap you in a blanket and hand-feed you some warm soup while singing you a lullaby!
*Kade sneezes*
Heatwave: Oh my god. Shut the hell up.
Store Worker: Would a “Heatwave” please come to the front desk?
Heatwave, arriving at the desk: Hello, is there a problem?
Store Worker, pointing to Cody and Kade: I believe they belong to you?
Cody and Kade, simultaneously: We got lost.
Heatwave: I didn’t even bring you guys here with me—
Kade: I dropped Cody.
Heatwave: Kade, what the fuck.
Heatwave: Dinosaurs aren't extinct. I mean, Kade is walking in this room.
Cody: *wheeze*
Heatwave: You need a hobby.
Kade: I have a hobby!
Heatwave: making fun of Cody isn't a hobby.
*Kade and heatwave teaching Cody to drive*
Kade: That's a pothole. To the left!
Cody: Take it back now y'all *Drives into pothole*
Heatwave: Cha Cha real smooth.
Cody: I don't think that's how the song goes.
Kade, crying and gripping the handle: Please just take me home.
Cody: Country Roads.
Heatwave: To the place.
Cody and Heatwave in unison: I Belong!
Kade, crying harder: What the fuck?
Heatwave: Cody, what does IDK, ILY, and TTYL mean?
Cody: I don’t know, I love you, talk to you later.
Heatwave: Alright, I love you too, I'll ask Kade.
Cody: Wait- Heatwave, no-
Heatwave: Where’s Cody?
Kade: Around.
Heatwave: Around?
Heatwave: You don’t have any idea, do you?
Cody, dropping down from above: Did you know there’s a space above the ceiling?
Kade, knocking on the door: cody, open up!
Cody: It all started when I was a kid.
Kade: That’s not what I-
Heatwave: Let him finish!
Kade: Heatwave isn’t answering my messages.
Cody: Allow me.
Kade: I tried 6 times, what makes you thi-
Heatwave: *replying to message* Hello
Cody, learning how to drive: What happens if I press the gas and the brake at the same time?
Kade: The car takes a screenshot.
Heatwave: Please let go of the wheel. I’m driving now.
Kade: So, Heatwave and Cody.
Kade: According to this, you two are being accused of: Armed Robbery, Vandalism, Drug Abuse, Grand Theft Auto…
Heatwave: We had a bad day.
Kade: And… MURDER?!
Cody: It was a pretty bad day
Kade: So, Cody is no longer allowed to take the trash out at night.
Heatwave: Why?
Kade: Because Dad's caught them trying to train raccoons to fight five times in a row.
Cody, arms crossed and pouting: You'll all be thanking me when the third raccoon battalion saves your ass.

Gwuncan ship more like no function ship.
Gwen couldn't with Trent and Trent's deal.
So, imagine a boy known for being a bad boy....
He bound do more than annoy her for being the one how can't help it but steal.
Argue often with anyone he does not agree with in public.
The time away in juvie and mostly in trouble to bound to happen.
Many pranks he surely play on anyone.
No offense she can over look everything especially Duncan's fire?
Yeah.... right.
:0
She must have been delusional cause Duncan flirts with anyone too.
So yeah most of you only want them together for the color palette only of two pale people that never do wrong in your hearts due to you placing yourself in their shoes to get your away.
By the way GWEN BROKE UP WITH HIM FOR A FUCKING REASON IN CANON....
LIKE SOME OF YOU GWUNCAN COMING IN WITH I HATE COURTNEY 24/7 AND KILL THE COURTNEY FANS....
Mental ways make me sick to my stomach and more.
I like Duncan with Courtney in season 1.... don't mean I am being in your comments like kill Gwen with a shotgun.
I hate this fucking ship so bad every ship of Gwuncan.
Damn y'all mother not raise you with respect?!
Both these ships didn't fucking make it.
Geez...
Damn ok. And so? Ship whatever you fucking want but don't send death threats for a ship. Damn.
Wtf?
The hell is your problem?!
Gwen and Duncan would love me... No. They wouldn't it.
They wouldn't dare even look at you actually you why... you be Sierra is to Cody in first season they met on in the first episodes of season 3.

So I've got this thing that bothers me so bad about the entire transformers rescue bots series.
Like, I gotta tell y'all, there was NO WAY the folks on Griffin Rock didn't know that the bots were sentient before season 4!
The Burns family and the bots slip up so much all of the time in season one alone that it had me yelling at the screen.
For one, in "Countdown" (where everybody gets teleported by little bugs called 'tracers') After Frankie gets into the cockpit to escape, Dani says something that Blades doesn't like and his face shows up on the screen along with him sighing with disappointment.
When Frankie asks, Cody and Dani give her different reasons for the "malfunction". A funky router and something to do with the engine.
At the end of that same episode, the bots bust through the stone slab in the cavern to save everyone when Doc Greene asks something along the lines of, "How did the even know to find us here?"
All of the Burnses stutter and make things up until Cody makes the excuse that they're programmed for search and rescue. This makes sense, but there's no way that this doesn't look suspicious, why wouldn't the Burns family know how their own machinery works. Even though Cody is clever, why is the 9 year old, who has no qualifications know better than they do?
In "Christmas in July" the Burns family brings the bots to a corner where Doc Greene tested out the weather machine so that they can play in the snow too. Since nearly everyone else is in the town square, they shouldn't run into too much trouble, right? Anyway, Graham stands as a lookout and warns them that people are coming. Then, they all stand stiffly and carefully watch as a mom and her daughter walk by them and immediately go back to playing. They don't check to see if they are out of earshot or anything!
Wouldn't it be odd for the entire rescue team to break away from the festivities? And it's definitely suspicious to find them all standing in a corner, staring at you.
Plus in "Rescue Boy", when the bots pick up a tree that Cody used to stop a rouge garbage truck, the bots complain and Chase classifies them as sidekicks. Meanwhile the Burns and Huxley (A news reporter!) are right beside them.
How would you not hear giant robots whispering to each other?
That was a rant, but here's more cut out reasons why I think Griffin Rock knew better.
The bots openly speak to each other without using their robot voices and talk to the Burns family.
The Burns family makes up horrible excuses for the bots' strange behavior
They avoid media coverage as much as possible
The bots make obvious noises like loud grunts or screams (Heatwave and Blades respectively) when they're working.
The Burns family call them by name very often instead of saying "firebot" or their other designated titles.
The Burns family seems very emotionally attached the bots, even in public.
You'd just have to be stupid not to notice all of this! The people of Griffin Rock are dummies, but they can't be that unaware of their surroundings. Especially on an island that's CONSTANTLY trying to kill them.
Not only that, but when they confessed, they were extremely well received, even with the surprise, the citizens adjusted very quickly. And Huxley and Mrs. Neederlander betted on it! (Of course, Huxley lost). But I'm starting to think that it wasn't about whether they were aliens or just robots, but about what kind of sentient being they were. Like Aliens, or an experiment gone wrong.
Anyway, those are just my thoughts. If some can expand on these or counter my rant, I'd love to hear it! I gotta know if y'all noticed this too.
(Unless this is a super old idea and I'm just embarrassing myself ☹️)

Do you think the love triangle was forced?
I like how you say "the love triangle." I know you mean Gwen-Duncan-Courtney but like. There was a Cody-Gwen-Trent triangle before them, and an Ella-Dave-Sky love triangle afterwards. They are not the only TD love triangle out there.
I'm going to be honest, I don't personally care about the Gwen-Duncan-Courtney love triangle. I don't get the outrage. So many people see it as the end of the glorious D*ncney empire, but that relationship was crumbling before Gwen got there. I also don't care much for Gwen or Duncan as chacters 💀 Courtney all the way, and Evil!Courtney is Best!Courtney, so the love triangle did not destroy my favorite character lmao. Sorry for the rest of y'all though.
And yeah. It was forced. I think everyone believes that, and I kinda doubt you anon - that you asked this question in good faith. You just wanted to see me rant, didn't you?
And I'm gonna do it, cuz I love ranting. Yes, The Love Triangle was forced. And that's the biggest problem with it, imo. Not the result. Not Gwuncan. But all the steps it took to get there.
It's no question that Gwen and Duncan's like for each other was a little.... abrupt. They are alike, and I could even argue that they WOULD make a decent couple, but Fresh wasn't interested in writing a decent couple, and I'll touch more on that later. They were interested in the drama. So suddenly, Gwen starts missing Duncan. Suddenly, Duncan kisses her. And huzzah, one of the most controversial moments in TD History.
After all what's more soap opera than the girl's boyfriend cheating on her with her best friend? And to get to that scene, S2 and S3 were made a fuckton worse.
The thing about Gwuncan is not just that it's poorly written. It's because the writers had to demolish Gwent and Duncney to get there. And instead of putting down Gwent with grace and dignity, or having their relationship generally peter out, the writers just machet-ed it. And in the fandom's eyes, that's *Gwuncan's* fault.
In the real world you can't blame your bad breakup on the next guy your girl gets with. But this isn't the real word, this is writing. And word on the street is that TD had to fuck up Gwent so that they could get Gwuncan. So now Gwuncan represents the downfall of Gwent.
Duncney, on the other hand, was just... they needed to make the relationship worse in Action, obviously. But how they went about it (even I though I enjoy evil Courtney), did a disservice to her character arc in Island. There's nothing wrong with characters regressing, or making a dark turn, but like. You need to have a reason.
A lot of people say that reason was her anger on being rigged out. And she's right to be angry about it. But how is it Duncan's fault? (I actually have a figured out a way that makes sense but like, TD didn't. And we're examining THEM.)
So now Duncney sucks, so Duncan has a "reason," to cheat on her.
Great. So that's why S2 sucks. What about S3?
I See London. As a Noah stan, this episode doesn't hurt me, and it never did. But as a *writer*? Oof. Some of the worst slop I've seen.
I See London is completely built for the Gwuncan moment, and it's so fucking obvious. Gwen and Courtney building a friendship? It's just to make the betrayal all the harder. Duncan somehow being in London, despite being dropped off in Egypt? Yeah, just for Gwuncan. Gwen helping KIDNAP him? Which is OOC for several reasons.... Just for Gwuncan. Even Noah's elimination could be tied to Gwuncan if you tried hard enough.
Gwuncan, as a writing moment, was the root of all evil. Lmao.
But Gwuncan as a ship? I'm going to be honest, I don't think the love triangle was to set up Gwuncan. Which doesn't make sense, but here me out. Sure Gwuncan happens as a result, but the focus is less on their relationship and more about how it affects Courtney. When it comes time to eliminate either Courtney and Gwen, they make up a fake reason to have a tie. (Cody would have voted for Courtney if he didn't have some random injury.) And then Gwen couldn't just lose, but had to have a random allergy? Like the elimination is so stupid, I can't.
But wow, one half of the ship is now gone. Their relationship lasted FOUR episodes! Four! Two long-standing fan beloved ships that spanned entire seasons, are now destroyed for ... four episodes? Why?
And then they make an episode where DUNCNEY get paired together in a WEDDING THEMED CHALLENGE? Bruh. Like I'm actually sad for Gwuncan, as a ship they were disrespected so bad. The show constantly put focus on Duncney, it's so clear that the writers wanted to talk about Duncney, and that Gwuncan was just a cool conflict they thought of.
It's honestly sad, and my deepest condolences for Gwuncan fans, and any Gwuncan fan who still ships Gwuncan and believes in them - y'all the strongest soldiers.
If TD had truly wanted to make Gwuncan a thing, yeah breaking up Gwent and Duncney was necessary (and perhaps they should have ended Duncney earlier and not just Then), but they should have written Gwuncan as two people fleeing terrible relationships. Let them have the audience's sympathy. And then have Courtney be eliminated instead, and show us how good Gwuncan could really be.
The fact that in All Stars they immediately ditched the Gwuncan idea is either proof they never wanted that ship, or that the audience hated the ship so bad that getting rid of it felt like the only option. Cowards. Should have just taken it as a challenge to prove how good it truly was. That's what I would have done. (That's why i write noco)
Tl;dr. Gwuncan's cheating moment was Cool Drama, Fresh wanted to cash in on that, played the long game and destroyed their savings in the process. But they did get what they wanted! But a cool moment is just that, a moment. And Fresh doesn't even like Gwuncan.

》 Chapter 31

Explanation: Kimber and Hunter are ready to meet back up with the rest of the Bad Batch...but not before encountering a little trouble beforehand.
Tumblr media
Kimber felt like a whole new woman when she awoke.
She felt like she was floating on the clouds of Bespin, letting the wind just carry her away. She had no idea it was possible to feel this way; to be happier than she already thought she was. Though, as she turned to look at the handsome, sleeping Clone Sergeant beside her, she knew that it was indeed possible all thanks to him. Not only was Hunter the reason that she now had a new purpose, a new family and a place to belong, but he was the reason she knew what it meant to truly love and be loved in return. He had given her everything. In turn, she had given him her heart and, as of the previous night, her body and soul.
Since then, she now felt closer to him and more connected with him than ever. Not only had their physical intimacy felt just amazing in and of itself, but it brought their relationship and their love to even greater heights. Looking upon him, she knew he was truly a part of her now just as she was a part of him. He was her home; her safe haven. There were just no words good enough in any language in the galaxy to accurately describe just how much she revered, admired, adored and deeply loved her Sergeant Hunter.
She faced him in the bed, reached out and ever so lightly brushed her fingertips along his cheek, moving aside a couple stray locks of his hair. He was so serene in his sleep. This was a rare sight, seeing him in a state of pure calm and peace without any worry on his mind. She gazed at his face intently, wanting to remember this image of him forever.
It was then Hunter's eyes fluttered open, having sensed the touch of her skin on his, and he immediately smiled as her face was the first thing he saw upon waking up.
"Good morning, my Sergeant," Kimber greeted him.
"Good morning, my love," he sighed before taking her hand that was on his cheek and bringing it to his mouth, pressing a gentle kiss to her palm.
Kimber leaned forward and gently kissed Hunter, her lips feeling softer than ever. “I’m surprised your brothers haven’t contacted us yet,” she commented to him as she pulled back.
He grinned and replied, “That’s because, after my call with Commander Cody yesterday, I turned my commlink off and then I did the same with yours after we ate.” Then, to her slight surprise, he took her shoulders and pushed her onto her back, climbing over top of her with a devious grin on his face. “I wasn’t going to have anything interrupted for a third time.”
With an amused chuckle, she shook her head and said back, “Well, that explains a lot then.”
In seconds, his hand cupped the nape of her neck and he brought her lips to his in a passionate kiss while her arms encircled his waist and back, pulling him down closer. She moaned pleasantly into his mouth, which caused him to moan huskily in turn. Her hands ran up and down his back, her fingers digging into his bare skin.
He broke the kiss and growled, “Stars, Kimber, you drive my senses crazy!”
In response, she snickered and said, “I’ll take that as a challenge, Hunter.” Then she sat up just enough to start kissing up and down his neck, which withdrew a deep groan from him. She chuckled against his skin. “I’ll bet your senses just love this even more.”
He just moaned with pleasure in response. Just as he decided to start smothering her lips with his own again, the holopad on their end table started to beep.
While Kimber started chuckling, Hunter pulled away and groaned in annoyance, "You've got to be kidding me...!"
"Of all things...!" she giggled as she rolled out from under him and hopped off the bed. She quickly pulled her chest binder and dress on and walked over to the table, activating the holopad.
A hologram of the innkeeper appeared and he said, "I have a message for Kimber Sallaros."
"That's me," she told him.
"I have someone here who would like to speak with you. They're waiting for you outside the inn."
"Did they give a name or what they wanted?"
"No, ma'am. Just that they wanted you to meet them outside."
"All right. Thank you." Kimber then tapped the holopad and turned the projection off, now a bit puzzled at the innkeeper's message.
Pulling the bottoms of his blacks on, Hunter said to her, "That was strange."
"Yeah...but I guess I should still go see what that's all about," she replied as she started pulling her leggings and boots on.
"I'll come with you," he suggested.
However, she shook her head. "No, it's okay, Hunter. I'll be fine. I imagine it might be someone who heard me sing at the parlor yesterday. I'll be okay. I shouldn't be long. You finish getting yourself ready and then we can meet back up with the boys."
"Can't we stay a little longer?" Hunter groaned. "The boys can wait."
Kimber smirked at him. "Would you rather they come barging in here looking for us because they haven't heard from us for hours?"
He grimaced, which is exactly how she knew he would react. She knew full well that was the last thing he would want.
“All right,” he relented.
She walked over to him, kissed his cheek and said, “I’ll be back. Don’t miss me too much.”
As she began to walk away, however, he took her wrist and proceeded to gently push her against the wall, pinning her wrists to the wall and kissing her fiercely with what desire was left in him after having been interrupted yet again. Her legs nearly buckled beneath her as she was still getting used to his more passionate advances, but she returned his kiss fervently. He clearly wasn't ready to let her leave yet and she couldn't help but chuckle quietly as she relented and they continued to kiss each other.
"Hunter...," she lightly chided him, eventually pulling away.
Begrudgingly, he let go of her wrists, stepped back and said to her, “I’ll be counting down the seconds until you return."
A smile crept up on her face as she remembered he had said the same thing before she had gone on a flight with Tech back on Bestine. It had been sweet then and it was even sweeter now. She stole one last glance at him before exiting the room and making her way down to the lobby of the inn.
The innkeeper saw her coming and pointed to the doors, reiterating that the person who wanted to see her was waiting outside. Before leaving, she also informed him that she and Hunter would be checking out soon and he gave her an affirming nod.
As Kimber stepped outside into the long corridor of the Kuat ring, she looked around and was surprised to see there wasn’t really anyone around. She knew it was maybe a little early for some people to be up and about, but she figured there had to be some activity. Maybe the person who wanted to see her was waiting around the nearby corner, she thought. She walked towards one of the corners, looking to see if there was anyone there.
All of a sudden, both of her arms were grabbed from behind her and just as she was about to scream, something was put over her mouth to silence her. She looked to her sides and found two bigger Kuati men were grabbing her and dragging her somewhere. They were attempting to kidnap her. She tried struggling and pulling out of their grip, but they were stronger than her. She tried kicking at their legs, but they paid it no mind as they continued pulling her along. Deep down, she started to panic. Even if she got away, she didn't have her commlink to contact Hunter or anyone else to come help. She didn't have any of her weapons either. The one blaster she had kept for the mission was back inside the inn.
The two men pulled her down a ways, kicking and fighting, and then ducked into an alleyway, forcing her up against a wall. When Kimber looked up, she found herself face to face once again with Carson, the Clone-hating Rodian who was giving her a cocky grin. Upon seeing him, she shot him a glare as then one of the other men pulled her mouth guard away.
“Hello again," Carson said to her in Huttese. "I believe you and I have unfinished business.”
Kimber scoffed, “Do we? Because last I checked, I beat you and sent you running with your tail between your legs.”
“You humiliated me," he stated.
“You did that to yourself," she shot back. Then she looked to her left and then to her right at the two burly men subduing her. "I see you had to bring extra hands. What, you weren’t man enough to fight me on your own again?” she said to antagonize him.
Carson looked to the guard on her right, gave him a nod and just then, the man swung one of his fists straight into her stomach. She doubled over as far as she could go, gasping for air.
"Guess he's going to play dirty," she thought to herself.
The Rodian approached her as the guards forcefully pulled her back up and his eyes caught sight of the necklace around her neck. He reached out and grabbed it in his hand, looking it over carefully.
“Did your Clone give you this?” he inquired, a noticeable sneer in his voice when he said the word "Clone".
“None of your business," she stated firmly, unwilling to give him any satisfaction.
“I’ll take that as a yes.” He then clutched it tightly in his hand and yanked it forward, snapping the cord in half against her neck and pulling it off.
“No! Give that back!” she cried, pushing against the guards' hold on her as she watched Carson starting to walk away slowly with Hunter's necklace.
He turned back over his shoulder to look at her. “Only after you apologize to me.”
Kimber's eyebrows raised and her eyes widened in disbelief. Was he serious? He wronged her and he expected her to apologize? Surely, he had to be joking!
“You want me to apologize for you acting like a prick and insulting my family?" she questioned. Then she scoffed again and rolled her eyes. "Not a chance!”
“For assaulting me in the parlor!” he tried correcting her in frustration, turning to fully face her.
“You deserved that, Carson!" she exclaimed. "You don’t get to throw around insults and lies and not expect someone to retaliate!”
Her head suddenly snapped to the side as he then thrust the back of his hand across her face, a sharp sting irritating the skin of her cheek. She inhaled sharply, fighting the pain and refusing to show weakness in front of the one who struck her.
“You need to learn your place, woman," he told her, his tone authoritative.
That statement sparked a fire of fury within her. He had a lot of nerve to say something like that to her. She looked up at him, an icy glare in her eyes while simultaneously smirking defiantly at him.
She replied to him in Huttese and a dark tone, “I already know my place. It’s between you and the Clones.”
Carson scoffed at her. “You’re a fool. They’re not your family. They’re not even real people.”
That made Kimber snap.
In reaction, she reared back and threw her head forward, headbutting him hard in the face and causing him to stagger back. However, she'd never done anything like that before, so now she had a pounding pain in her head and her vision was blurring. That probably wasn't a smart idea.
Carson cried out an order to his men and one of them connected his fist with her stomach again, this time a lot of harder so that when she flopped over and gasped for air, only a choked sound emerged. The two men released her arms and she clutched at her stomach. While she was temporarily incapacitated, Carson backhanded her once again across the face and she cried out in pain. The guards withdrew vibrobatons from their belts and started beating her, striking her in the legs first to get her down on her knees, and then on her back and shoulders.
Her body and senses were all overcome with pain as the three men started overpowering her. Flashes of her captivity and the Tuskens abusing her appeared in her mind. She was defenseless and, to her great detriment, she hadn't been trained on how to handle multiple people in a fight. It had only ever been one on one. The guards were both stronger than her and Carson was taking hits when he could, but was mostly watching, enjoying watching her suffer as she continued screaming and crying out in agony.
Kimber was overwhelmed; she couldn't see a way out as they kept weakening and hurting her, her body slumping to the ground. Why had she told Hunter to stay behind? Why hadn't she brought him with her? She was going to be beaten badly or killed and left there...and he would have no idea what had happened to her.
She was trapped.
Just then, there was the sound of a blaster shot and a bolt went right between the two guards' heads. The two of them and Carson ceased beating Kimber and whipped around in the direction the bolt came from. Kimber was so overcome with pain that she didn't attempt to look.
Then she was surprised to hear a smooth, snakelike voice that she knew well speak with palpable anger, “Touch her again...and you’ll die where you stand.”
She craned her neck enough to see her partner standing at the edge of the alleyway, his sniper rifle aimed at her assailants and an angry grimace on his face.
“Crosshair!” she cried out weakly.
“Another Clone?" Carson cried out, irritated. You’ve got to be--”
Crosshair suddenly fired a shot at his feet, scaring him and cutting his exclamation short. “I don’t speak Huttese," Crosshair stated, unamused. Then he aimed his rifle again and threatened the three men, "You have two seconds to run...and I won’t miss.”
"Abomination!" Carson yelled at him before suddenly withdrawing a blaster from under his coat.
"No!" cried Kimber.
There was the sound of a gunshot...and then there was a smoking hole in Carson's chest.
The Rodian stood in place, stunned, for a moment before his blaster fell from his hand, he dropped to his knees and then collapsed to the ground, dead.
Kimber couldn't believe it. Crosshair had just killed him.
He then gave the two other men a threatening death glare that would've rivaled the sharpness of a vibroblade, wordlessly warning them that they would be next should they try anything more. They seemed to get the hint from seeing the dead body of their leader and took off running in fear right away out the other side of the alley.
Once they were gone, Kimber collapsed all the way to the ground. Crosshair immediately rushed over to her, set his rifle on the ground and dropped to his knees in front of her to pull her up, setting her up against the wall and keeping a hold on her shoulders.
“Are you all right? Look at me," he asked with concern, gently taking her face in his hands and looking her over.
She looked up at him and found him gazing at her with worry and fear in his eyes that she'd never seen from him before.
“I’m okay," she told him, not wanting to worry him any further.
“How badly did they hurt you?” he then inquired, his anger returning at the thought of her being hurt.
She nonchalantly shook her head. “It’s nothing I can’t handle.”
Crosshair tightened his hold on her head just slightly and told her sternly. "Don't lie to me, Kimber."
Her eyes shot up. He had used her name again. That alone told her that he was more than worried about her, which was true. Crosshair had heard screams and cries of pain and, once he realized they were hers, his blood had run chill. Once he saw what the men were doing to her, his only instinct was to kill. They were hurting his partner; the men were lucky he didn't shoot them on sight, but he had held back for Kimber's sake, thinking she wouldn't want to see him kill them in front of her.
As he checked her over, there didn't seem to be any visible signs of injury, but he did see some blood on her bottom lip. On instinct, he reached up and carefully brushed the blood away from her lip with his gloved thumb.
“We can’t let Hunter see you like this," he said.
His tenderness with her in that moment was so unexpected and it touched her immensely. "Oh, Crosshair!" she cried out. With the shock of everything that had happened starting to wear off and feeling overwhelmed by Crosshair's gentle attention, Kimber suddenly broke down into tears and threw her arms around his neck, clinging to him for dear life as she cried into his shoulder.
Crosshair stiffened briefly at her hugging him, but then forgot all about his initial discomfort as he heard her crying and felt her body trembling and he wrapped his arms around her, offering what comfort he could.
"You're all right, sunshine. You're safe now," he consoled her.
He knew normally she was a strong woman who could handle a lot, but this had been a different situation. He could see no other weapons anywhere, so he knew she had been defenseless and unarmed. He had seen the stature of the men who had taken her and could tell they had outmatched her in strength. Unfortunately, they'd had her at a great disadvantage and that had to have been frightening for her. That and he wondered if the harm she had suffered at their hands had reminded her of her trauma from Tatooine with the Tuskens, hence why she was now weeping and shaking like a scared child in his arms. His arms pulled her a little closer, trying to comfort her as best as he knew how, holding her tightly yet gently. Though he kept his eyes and ears pealed for any signs of movement or danger.
After a few moments, Kimber's crying began to cease and her breathing became steady as she calmed down. When she pulled away, Crosshair didn't say a word, but he reached up and brushed a couple stray tears from her cheeks. In that moment, she then flipped around with a concerned look on her face and then was crawling over to the dead Rodian's body, prying open one of his hands. Crosshair watched her curiously and then was surprised to see her pull out a Republic credit necklace that he recognized; one he hadn't seen in a long time: Hunter's necklace. She then proceeded to fix a part where it had snapped and then put it around her neck. Seeing this, Crosshair knew immediately what it meant: while they had been gone, Hunter had given Kimber his necklace and, in a way, promised himself to her. There was probably more to it than that, but that of course was between the two of them and wasn't any of Crosshair's business. He knew how special that necklace was to his brother and to see it around her neck told him everything. She really had stolen his heart completely. He was just glad Hunter had finally stopped pining for her from a distance and had acted on his feelings, whenever that had been. It was about time the fool had listened to him.
Kimber looked up at Crosshair and saw the way he was looking at her, looking at the necklace and then her face. The smallest hint of a knowing smile etched up on his mouth and he gave her a nod. Something about that made her smile just a little, too, and feel a bit more reassured. Crosshair grabbed his rifle, stood up and then held out a hand to Kimber. She took it and he pulled her to her feet, bracing her underneath her arms as she was still a bit shaky. He looked her over once more, peering peculiarly at her face and then her neck, but then he acted like everything was fine.
Once she was up and steady, he looked down at the dead Rodian and gave his leg a kick. “I never would’ve expected Kuat to be a place where random thugs mug a woman on the street," he said with a brief sneer.
“He...wasn’t just a random thug," she explained. When he looked back at her, she clarified, "I had a run-in with this guy yesterday and he was trying to get even.”
“What happened?” he asked.
“We went to a bar yesterday and, after Hunter had stepped out for a moment, this Rodian came over to me," she told him. "He had seen me come in with Hunter and started spouting off horrible things about Clones. Needless to say, I taught him a lesson in front of everyone in the parlor and, well...he didn’t like that.”
Crosshair smirked at her in response, impressed. “Well done, sunshine.”
Kimber grinned slightly back. Then she asked the question that was on her mind: “Crosshair...what are you doing here?”
“I came to get you and Hunter," he answered. "The rest of the squad is back at the ship in the landing bay waiting for you. It’s a good thing I came when I did.”
"Yes, it was." Then she laid a hand on Crosshair's arm, giving him a serious glance. "Please don't tell Hunter about what they did to me. I don't want him to worry," she pleaded.
He put his rifle on his back, gave her a sly look and stuck a toothpick in his mouth. "Tell him about what?"
His response gave her relief and she gave him a small smile of gratitude. She knew she could trust him to keep her secret.
"We should get you back to the ship before they come looking for the Rodian," he said, taking out his commlink as they both started walking and he kept a hold on her waist to support her. Then he spoke into it, "Hunter, come in." He waited for a few seconds. "Hunter, do you copy?" There was still no response for a moment and he rolled his eyes. "Ugh, I've been trying to reach him all morning."
"He turned his commlink off. He didn't want us to be disturbed last night," she told him.
Crosshair groaned in annoyance before shortly after, they heard Hunter's voice on the comm, "What is it, Crosshair?"
"It's about time," Crosshair spat before telling him, "You had better get to the ship quickly."
There was a brief pause."What did you do?" Hunter asked in a monotone voice.
"Does it matter? You need to meet back up with us now."
"I can't. Kimber left the inn and she hasn't come back yet."
"Don't worry, Hunter. She's with me."
"What? How is she with--?"
"Just get back to the ship!" Crosshair finally said, annoyed before switching off Hunter's frequency and then saying, "Tech, get the ship ready to leave immediately. We're on our way."
"On it," they heard Tech reply.
After putting the commlink away, Crosshair turned to Kimber and asked, his demeanor softening, "Are you all right to run?"
"I think so," she answered. After walking for the past couple minutes, some of Kimber's strength was beginning to come back, despite some of the lingering pain and soreness.
His hand moved from her waist as he said, "Then let's go."
The two of them took off running through the Kuat Drive Yards ring, only encountering a small number of people out and about as they went. Before long, they could see the landing bay ahead of them and could hear the Marauder's engines already running. Crosshair slowed down a little to let Kimber get ahead of him and get into the ship first.
Kimber ran up the ramp up into the Marauder and nearly collapsed into the adjacent wall before getting into a nearby chair next to where Wrecker was sitting. In front of her, as per usual, sat Tech and Echo in the pilot's seats.
"Welcome back, Kimber," Wrecker greeted her pleasantly.
"Thanks, Wrecker," she replied, slightly out of breath.
Echo spun around in his chair and smiled gladly at seeing her. "Glad you're back," he said to her. Then he noticed that only she and Crosshair were on the ship. "Where's Hunter?"
"He's still at the inn, but he should be on his way shortly," she replied.
"He already is," stated Tech, looking down at his datapad.
They all glanced at him curiously.
"You know that, how?" inquired Echo.
Tech turned his chair to face everyone and said as a matter of factly, "I still have the duplicated camera frequency from the Kuat security headquarters, which includes the outside feed. I saw Hunter leaving the inn. I also monitored Crosshair's movements and saw him veer into an alleyway where he shot someone."
Both Kimber and Crosshair went wide-eyed hearing that Tech had seen what had happened. Then both Wrecker and Echo looked surprised, too, as they looked at Crosshair.
"Is that why we're leaving in a hurry?" asked Wrecker.
"I was protecting her," Crosshair replied, gesturing to Kimber. "She was in danger."
Just then, they heard footsteps running up the ramp and Hunter appeared, hitting the control panel to the ramp to bring it up.
Seeing him finally there, Crosshair turned to Tech and told him, "Go now!"
Tech gave him a nod and pulled the ship up from the ground. Within seconds, they flew out of the landing bay of the ring, leaving the Kuat Drive Yards behind.
"Does anyone want to explain to me what's going on?" Hunter demanded, coming up into the main cabin of the ship.
"Crosshair shot someone," said Tech over his shoulder.
In response, Crosshair glared at Tech for ratting him out and then turned to find Hunter giving him an "Are you kidding me?" look.
"He was defending me, Hunter," Kimber clarified. It seemed like she was going to have to tell him what happened after all.
However, Crosshair took over and told Hunter, "I had come looking for you two when I heard a commotion and saw someone was arguing with her outside. She was doing fine until I saw him draw a blaster and I saw she was unarmed. I reacted on instinct and shot him."
Kimber looked up at him, taken aback a little. Crosshair had lied to Hunter about what had happened so he could still keep her secret; so Hunter wouldn't be so worried.
Hunter stole a look at Kimber as if to confirm what Crosshair said and she just gave him a nod.
"Shooting someone and running will make you look guilty," he then said to Crosshair. "They're going to think you murdered him."
"Technically, that's not entirely true," Tech interjected. "There were cameras in that area, so if the Kuat security were to check, they will see that Crosshair's actions were done entirely in self-defense."
It took a brief moment for Hunter to process everything. It had all happened so fast. He had just finished getting his armor back on when he had turned on his commlink and heard Crosshair's voice. The next thing he knew, he was running from the inn to the ship. Now, suddenly being told that Crosshair had shot someone was not what he was expecting to hear. However, he peered around behind Crosshair to where Kimber was sitting and moved around to face her.
"Are you all right?" he asked her, laying a hand softly on her shoulder.
She nodded. "I'm fine."
"Who was it?"
"It was the Rodian from last night."
He snickered. "I guess he just couldn't take the hit you gave him, could he?"
"I guess not. It was good that Crosshair came when he did."
He turned back to his brother. Despite his initial irritation at hearing he'd shot someone, Hunter couldn't deny that he was glad Crosshair had been there, especially since it was the Rodian that had been involved. He had saved Kimber from what could have been a worse situation and that's all that mattered to him.
"Thank you," he said softly.
Crosshair laid a hand on Hunter's shoulder. "She's not just yours to protect, Hunter. She's part of the squad; we all protect her." Then he looked down at her. "I don't regret what I did and I would do it again a thousand times over."
Kimber smiled gratefully at him.
"Well, she's safe and that's what matters," said Echo. "Now, we have something more important to discuss."
When he had everyone's attention, he then smirked, looking between Kimber and Hunter. "Did you two enjoy your time away together?"
The two of them exchanged timid looks and blushed a little. This was going to be a long flight.

After a few hours of flying and Hunter and Kimber filling everyone in on the things that had happened during their time on Kuat, the Bad Batch decided that, since they had no pending missions again, they would take time again on a nearby planet and determined Alderaan was a good choice and it was just a couple more hours away. During this time, Kimber took the opportunity to put her hair back into her signature braid and to change out of her Kuat dress and back into her Bad Batch armor. Despite loving the dress, she had indeed missed the familiarity of her armor. To her, it just reminded her that she was where she belonged. It gave her the feeling of safety and home.
They traveled a little longer until they reached the planet and found a remote area to land their ship. It was evening time when they landed and the sky was a lovely orange and red color. As they all dismounted the ship, Hunter brought out a heater and Wrecker went and gathered some logs for them to sit on as they partook in their evening meal of rations.
Once they were finished, Crosshair stood up, hoisted up his rifle and stated, "I'm going to scout the area." He turned to Kimber. "Care to help?"
Kimber smirked. Over time, "scouting the area" had become their secret code phrase, meaning Crosshair was going to go watch the sunset. While he did indeed actually do some scouting, it didn't take very long for him and so he took advantage of that time to go do his secret hobby. Ever since the first time she had followed him and he had let her join him, Kimber had started going with him a little more, still following after him, until eventually Crosshair started asking her to go with her on the "scouting" initially. He liked her company and sneaking off to watch the sunsets on any given night, especially on a new planet, had become their thing; their shared activity that they did together.
"Sure, I'll go with you," she replied, taking up her own rifle.
He gave her a nod and started walking away.
She looked to Hunter and gave him a sweet smile, squeezing his hand gently to indicate she would be back soon. He returned the smile and the gesture in understanding as she stood up from the log and followed after Crosshair.
The two of them made their way up into the nearby foothills, keeping an eye out for any movement nearby. There was some wildlife they saw in the distance, but nothing threatening. They went up further until they found a big enough cliffside for them to observe the setting sun. They set their weapons aside and sat themselves down at the edge of the cliff, watching the horizon.
After a couple minutes of silence, Crosshair turned to Kimber and asked, “Glad to be back?”
She smiled and nodded. “I am," she answered. "I did miss you boys, even though Hunter and I had an enjoyable time.”
He then smirked deviously and more wider than usual as he said back, “I can see that you did.”
Puzzled, she tilted her head at him. He then tapped the side of his neck with two fingers while still maintaining eye contact. She reached up to her neck, wondering what he was implying, but then seeing the teasing look in his eye, it dawned on her and her eyes shot open wide.
“Is there a--?”
Crosshair just smirked some more and even snickered a little.
Mortified, she turned away, her face going hot like she was back under the twin suns. There apparently was a mark on her neck from her night of passion with Hunter!
Then she heard Crosshair say beside her, “Lucky for you, I don’t think the others noticed before because your hair covered it up...but it certainly didn’t escape my attention.”
Now that explained why he had looked at her curiously back in the alley. “Blast your keen eyesight!” she exclaimed, still so embarrassed.
He chuckled some more, but gave her a reassuring pat on the back and didn't say anything more. He hadn't had a moment to properly tease her a little about what he'd seen and now that he had, that's all he was going to do. That told him enough about her time with Hunter and everything else, he didn't need to know. That and seeing her blush was satisfactory enough for him and he wasn't going to make her feel more embarrassed, so he stayed quiet while she regained her composure.
A moment passed as they kept watching the sunset before Crosshair spoke up, “You know...even for only a day...things weren’t the same without you here.”
She stole a look at him. “For everyone or just for you?”
He side-eyed her briefly, but didn't say a word.
“Crosshair...did you miss me?” she inquired further, grinning at him.
It was his turn to feel timid and he simply grunted in response, the tips of his ears going slightly pink.
She snickered. "How touching," she said, droning her voice a little similarly to his.
That got him to look at her, though the corner of his mouth twitched ever so slightly upward.
“Are you mocking me?” he questioned.
Kimber smiled innocently. “I would never. Imitation is the highest form of flattery.”
He eyed her suspiciously, but he still couldn't hold back the semblance of a proud grin. "Your impression needs some work," he teased.
"Hey, I thought I did pretty well!" she declared, elbowing him in the arm. Then her tone softened as she then said to him, "I didn't say anything before because I knew you wouldn't want me to cause a fuss...but I have to thank you."
"You don't have to thank me for saving you," he said back.
"I know I don't. That's not what I'm thanking you for," she replied. He eyed her curiously and she explained, "I heard it was your idea for you guys to run off and give Hunter and me the day yesterday. I never took you for a romantic."
He frowned slightly. "I did it so you two wouldn't be so lovesick for each other around the rest of us."
Kimber grinned and shook her head. She knew there was more to his reasoning than that, but he just didn't want to admit it.
"Were we that obvious?" she asked.
"To most of us, yes," he answered. "Though, I knew of Hunter's feelings for you from the beginning." Crosshair then shot her a warning look and pointed a finger at her. "If you tell him anything about my involvement with yesterday, I will deny it."
Kimber grinned even more. "Deny what?" she asked, emulating his response to her from back on Kuat.
His lips twitched up again in amusement, realizing what she had done. "How is it you know me so well?" he inquired.
With a shrug, she smiled sweetly and said in reply, "I've spent almost every day with you for weeks. I feel like I've learned to read you pretty well. Besides, we're partners. It's part of our job to be able to read each other. Though, just when I think I know you, you surprise me with what you did yesterday."
"Just keeping you on your toes, sunshine," he said back.
Then she reached out and took his hand, catching him off guard. "Thank you, Crosshair."
His expression softened as he looked intently into her eyes and gave her a sincere nod.
"What would I do without you?" she then questioned aloud.
"You won't have to find out...because I'm not going anywhere," he told her.
"Is that a promise?" she asked. When he turned away without saying anything, she nudged him. "Come on, tell me!"
He sighed. "Are you really going to make me say it?"
"It's not that I don't believe you. I just want to hear you say it out loud," she said to him.
With a roll of his eyes, he then said, "I promise."
Satisfied, Kimber grinned at him and then proceeded to lift up his hand that she held, raised his arm up above and behind her head and pulled it around her shoulders. Once she let go of his hand, she nestled up closer to him and laid her head on his shoulder. Crosshair remained motionless, taken aback by what she was doing. This was new to him. He knew she was comfortable with him, but she hadn't done this before. He wasn't sure what to do, so he kept his open hand out away from her arm.
Rolling his eyes again and sighing quietly, he commented, "The things I do for you, sunshine."
She chuckled. "You wouldn't keep doing things for me if you didn't adore me, Crosshair."
Crosshair at first didn't know how to respond. He looked down at what he could see of Kimber's smiling face as she gazed out at the sun, her amber eyes glimmering brightly in the glow of the twilight. In that instant, he smiled to himself and he relaxed, letting his hand come to her arm and he gave her shoulders a gentle squeeze as they both continued to watch the sun go down.
He knew she was right: he did adore her...and he would do anything for her. He had risked his life for her before and that day, he had killed someone to protect her. Kimber was his partner; together, they were the snipers and the eyes in the sky. She was his most trusted friend, his confidant, his sunshine. His nickname for her had become more than just that; it had become part of her identity with him as she was the only ray of light that existed in his life.
Now, he could no longer imagine the squad without her. She was one of them. She belonged with them. He had seen that and known that almost from the very beginning. Looking back, he had never realized just how truly important the poor desert-dweller woman they had saved would become to them and to him. She was Hunter's true love and his other half in every way. She was Echo's best friend and understood him in ways no one else would ever be able to. She enjoyed Tech's many ramblings and indulged and even took part in his passion of research. She encouraged Wrecker's love for demolition and explosives and made him feel intelligent for knowing so much about them. Then, to Crosshair, she was the one he could rely on to always have his back and she somehow understood him, too, in ways even his brothers didn't. She could read him even when he didn't want be readable. Her compassion and love for all of them was unparalleled, especially after hearing her tell the story of how she defended the Clones the previous day against the Rodian he had shot. That had struck something inside of him. He was proud of her not only for holding her own and standing up to that creature, but for how fervent she was in defending all Clones and denying the Rodian's claims. This simple woman from Tatooine was so much more than he ever imagined she would be.
It occurred to Crosshair that, on that fateful day, he hadn't even wanted to go to Tatooine in the first place...but looking back, he was more than grateful that they had. His life and all their lives had changed forever that day and it had definitely been for the better. None of them had realized that a piece had been missing from their squad and they had found it in her, a slave woman they had rescued. Hunter's senses had somehow led them to someone they never knew they needed. Now, she was a meaningful and valued member of their squad because of both her skills and her heart. She truly had the spirit, the courage and the conviction of a Clone and that only furthered the reasons why she fit in so well with the Bad Batch.
In that moment, Crosshair seemed to fully realize what Kimber was to him. Yes, she was his partner and friend, but now, there was more to what they had than that.
She was his sister.
The world around him seemed to change at this revelation and it clarifed everything he was feeling. There was no other way to explain what was between them: the care, the banter, the trust and the closeness. Kimber was like a sister to him and he would continue to care for her and look after her as such. Maybe one day, he would tell her, but for right now, that was for his knowledge alone. He figured she might think of him as a brother, but he wasn't entirely sure. Even so, he knew she still cared about him a great deal and that was good enough for him.
Despite that, Crosshair knew he would hold fast to his relationship with Kimber for the rest of his life as they both shared and enjoyed that moment of watching the sunset together.
