Casual Reminders Your Father's A War Criminal

So I was playing X-Wing Alliance with the X-Wing Alliance Upgrade Mod, which brings the twenty-five year old best Star Wars flight sim ever made into looking like something made in the last decade or two. In XWA, you get little mementos as you complete missions to decorate the cabin of your personal YT-2000 freighter the Otana.

One of them I just got after completing a mission to recover one of the probe droids that Vader's fleet had spat out all over the southern Outer Rim was a tiny probe droid toy the MC's sister builds for him. It danced and played a song called "Darth Vader Eyes." And that's a funny bit of world building, a probably scathing popular song made about one of the most evil men in the galaxy. X-Wing Alliance is so GOOD for that, a very grounded view of a Galaxy Far, Far Away from the POV of a transport pilot turned rebel pilot.

The thing is...that song. What if your father is that 'one of the most evil men in the galaxy'? How would it feel to walk into a lounge or cantina or officer's club where your friends are enjoying themselves, and you hear a popular song that makes sure to remind you that your father is a monster, lines perhaps like "your empty, shark eyes. Baby, you got Darth Vader eyes."

How do you deal with that? I don't like my parents but they're just broad spectrum bigots not a genocidal criminal. I don't like being reminded about them at any time.

But Luke? Or Leia? I can't imagine. Do your fellow pilots see you and try to quickly change the music as quick as someone can get to the controls? Do fellow diplomats and senators grow quiet during the song, but they paint you with his brush, so they just wait it out?

I don't think ppl want to meet these characters, because they are fictional, I feel like you don't see that we don't need to agree with anything a character does to like watching their journey, we don't even need to like them ,

This take can be valid with antagonists/villains, but in my post I'm talking about Christians having fanblog of superheroes they actually love and support

As for the "watching something insulting our faith" in my post it xwas more about watching stuff "against Christian value". Like, don't you find interesting how Christians have not problem frowning upon watching shows with homosexuality (which don't necessarily -directly- insult Christianity)...but are cool with shows glorifying magic/fallen angel ? (a huge trope of the super hero thing is that their half gods... it's no coincidence)

Homophobia plays a huge role ofc (many Christians act like being gay was the worst sin somehow), but I also think that's because witchcraft has been repackaged in such a likeable, friendly & harmlesss way.

Better as in they have more access to the internet and such, worse in the sense of lack of creativity, spending majority of time in front of computer/smartphone screens.

Once I jumped into ham radio band and overheard a conversation of five guys talking about random shit. I’ve caught myself listening to it for two hours straight and having good laugh, it xwas better than many podcasts XD
