Oc lore dump about Xue Hongye:

He lived with his mother, a blacksmith, on a planet. Somewhere. But he was half Xianzhou Native, which means that his mother has died by the time he was at the cusp of teenage hood. He remained in his planet for several decades, watching the short lives born and die, and tend to his mother's grave every year.

When the planet was attacked by the wingweavers, the Cloud Knights fought them and found Xue Hongye by accident. He was fighting the wingweavers, when his Core Esse activated, igniting his body in flame. As he was identified as a Xianzhou Native, he was brought back against his will and DNA tested to see who was his father.

His father turns out to be a family member of the esteemed Luo Clan, thus he was returned. He lived in Xianzhou Yaoqing, and was renamed as Luo Fengzhi. Being an illegitimate son, a half short-lived at that, has brought scorn and whispers to the Luo Family. Luo Fengzhi then made a deal with the matriarch, he would leave the Luo Family, never mention his ties to them, and never, ever come back in exchange for some wealth and a passage to Xianzhou Zhuming. Thus, an agreement was made.

As he made his life in Zhuming, Xue Hongye wondered what should he do with his life now. He found his answer when he saw a short-live craftsman made an exquisite ignitium. He searched for the craftsman's name, and begged him to take him in as a disciple. Yingxing, with much reluctance, only agreed after General Huaiyan told him to agree.

He loves being Yingxing's disciple. It was rare to find someone so passionate about crafting, and a rare genius at that. He absorb everything that Yingxing has to offer, and unfortunately, that includes Yingxing's pride.

He never quite told Yingxing why he wanted to be his disciple. Yes, being a disciple to a rare genius is one of them, but. When he gazes at Yingxing, lost in his tempering, he saw his mother, swinging the hammer. He missed her, and perhaps Yingxing's the only one who could understand. Xianzhou Natives does not erect stone tablets for the dead. They have no custom for remembering those who were gone. Some may adopt the Foxians' culture for the dead but not all. Master Yingxing still honoured his deceased family, Xue Hongye accompanied him many times.

After Yingxing's death, he was taken in by General Huaiyan, though, his passion for crafting has slowly wilted. In the end, he decided to become a Nameless, for Zhuming is too small for him, and he was a fickle man, never satisfied with one thing. He felt like a duckweed, drifting without anchor, and what better suits a person like him than travelling?

He came back to Zhuming from time to time, visiting General Huaiyan and Yunli to see how they're faring. He also had a reputation for being a playboy. He is somewhat sleazy, a silver-tongued talker.

He has a somewhat morbid obsession with death, with the time he spent his days as a child on his homeplanet, and the fact that the only two person that ever cared for him was short-lived. He had never really got better at letting go, but he's learning. He knows nothing can stay forever, and thus he will honour their memories. Pour a cup or two for the dead.

Due to that, he is somewhat possessive, willing to bend his morale to suit people he cares. When he learned that Blade is Yingxing, he let him escape the eyes of IPC, blowing the ship up. He also has no qualms killing the bounty hunters that has captured Fourteen. As long as the people he cared are safe, that's all that matters.

Anyway he's a pyromaniac and most of his inventions involved explosion, a habit that Yingxing, and later Huaiyan, had tried (and failed) to hammer out of him. He has a cheerful personality, and loves talking about anything. Don't be fooled though, he never tells anything about himself.

He and Fourteen met when Fourteen was in a middle of a hunt. He gathered that this rude man was actually being rude to get them to safety, and decided to help him out. After that, he declared that they are friends (Fourteen fervently denied that) and decided to give him his numbers. Then, they met and depart, each on their own journey, but still near at hearts.

Xue Hongye (about Fourteen): Hehe, Fourteen may look all gruff and scary, but he's actually rather soft under all those thorns. He might not talk much, but when he does it's never dull. I actually disliked those honest knightly type, so stifling but he is so bad at lying it's adorable. I wonder if he's down to get a meal with me again?

Fourteen (about Xue Hongye): I despised silver tongued men with questionable personality, but when it's him I'm surprised that I don't mind. But then, he is much more than that. A talented craftsman of his own league and he's very good at socialising. A very interesting fella for sure. I wonder if he's around, maybe I can snag a free meal from him again.
