Xue has heterochromia. She has one grey and green eye 🩵💚

Her name was inspired by Sokka's first love, Yue. But Linzin still wanted the name to be unique to their child. Xue in Chinese means "snow"

For the first month, Tenzin catches Lin simply staring at their baby. Lin is studying every single detail of Xue (her dark black hair, hands, feet, eyes when she looks at her). Lin cannot believe that she could create something so perfect and small. Also Lin was not prepared for the baby coos, lips smacking, and squeaks

Lin can stare at her for hours and not be bored at all

Xue loooooves to have playtime at 3am. She's babbling and grinning and wiggling around when she sees one of them moving around. Lin or Tenzin try to get her to sleep, but baby Xue wants to play and talk to mommy and daddy

Xue is usually more excited when she sees Tenzin coming around, and it annoys Lin. She thinks it's only bc of the blue tattoo that captures Xue's attention

She falls asleep the fastest in Tenzin's arms. He tells her stories while carrying her and she's dozing off

Her first word is "nana" after the bananas that Lin cuts up for her

Lin hardly goes out with Xue and if she does, then she covers her with a blanket for privacy or moves in disguise so that no one detects her

Xue pulls on Tenzin's beard and Lin laughs at him

Lin and Tenzin spend a lot of time in the South Pole to be with Katara, so she can bond with Xue. It's the best move ever bc Xue is obsessed with her grandma and all the waterbending she does. She doesn't want anyone holding her or interrupting her time with Gran Gran

She calls Katara "Gan Gan"

Xue is a winter baby and loves to snuggle up to Lin or Tenzin when they're out in the snow. She cries and gets fussy when Linzin tries to bring her inside and away from pretty snow. Lin "She's like a polar-bear dog..."

For some reason, Xue is afraid of frogs and screams bloody murder and runs to Lin for protection

Now how was Pema's reaction?

Shocked. Gagged. Disbelief. Thought someone was smoking all the drugs in one hit. Worried that Tenzin would neglect their children in favor of his child with Lin. Tried to hide the fact that the news didn't bother her. Tries to convince herself that she made Tenzin a father first as she compares herself to Lin. "I married him first. I gave him children first." But Lin still holds all the other "firsts" in his life. She thought she could stay in RC and be strong, but she finds herself wanting to run away with her kids and get as far away from them.

1. What’s your favorite character(s) to write for?

Oh my, I’m have so many fandoms. But yes, I do have some favorites.

Zuko- ATLA- He’s such a ball of angst, anger, righteousness, strong morals and overall, a beautifully mature and complex character, that writing him is just a joy.

Yi Jeong- BOF- While the drama is s*it, Yi Jeong is truly a fascinating character. He has layers of complexity, pain, intelligence and just enough cruelness in him to make him a character with grey shades and fun to write.

Ulquiorra Schiffer- Bleach- My erstwhile favorite. He is cold and emotionless on the surface, but is a very deep character. I loved writing him till the author of the series made the series unwatchable.

Toph Beifong - ATLA- Wonderful badass. She is the right mix of badassery and chaos and evil to make her a treat to write.

Azula- ATLA- OOOH!! She is my absolute favorite. There is just so much to explore in this character. There are so many shades to her that it is a writers delight to depict her.

Selim Bradley- FMA- Even though I have only written one fic involving him, I had so much fun. Someday, I would like to revisit him.

Nam Seon ho- My Country:The New Age- Oddly, I am having trouble writing him, even though he is one of my favorite characters of all time. When I wrote him through Hwang Sung Rok’s POV, I had no issues writing him. But his own POV is proving to be a nightmare. 

Wei Wuxian - The Untamed - I’m writing him in first person present tense and enjoying every minute of it. He’s a fun character to write.

21. Is there an idea you’ve always wanted to write, but haven’t yet?

Oh so many! But I’ll enumerate a few.

ATLA: I always wanted to do a Zutara take on Hunchback of Notre dame, where Zuko is the Quasimodo equivalent and Katara as Esmeralda, while Ozai is Calude Frollo’s counterpart. In this case, however, Quasimodo and Esmeralda do fall for each other.

The Untamed: Lan Wangji is an efficient, ordered and no-nonsense cop. His longtime partner, Nie Mingjue, just got promoted so a new transfer from a different station is appointed as his partner. In comes Wei Wuxian and upsets everything that Lan Wangji holds true. Things get further complicated when Wen Ning, someone Wei Wuxian knew during his high-school days, is accused of a murder. To make matters worse, Xue Yang is hovering around them. Poor Lan Wangji cannot catch a break!

Fullmetal Alchemist- Brotherhood: I have always wanted to do a fic about Ling Yao’s first years as the Emperor of Xing.

There are more but I will stop here, lol.

39. What area of writing do you feel strongest in?

I am very good with emotions and getting into a character’s head and sticking to POVs. Nam Seon Ho is the only one (apart from Zane Bertholdt from my original novel) who has given me as much trouble as he has.

I thought about this reading your pregnant lin chapter on ao3

I think Xue would love Ikki (really, her favorite sister in the beginning) even if she only became aware of her existence when she was 4 years old (Ikki avoided her like the plague)

xue thought she was pretty and fun even though she was nice when the little girl was away

I think Ikki already put her at risk as a way to scare her (she didn't imagine drastic consequences, she was just blinded by hatred for the whole situation and Pema never made a point of lessening her pain) maybe Xue will get lost or something like that

lin would go crazy with the situation and after a few hours ikki would end up admitting to jinora what he had done

Jinora couldn't handle it (she really loves her sister xue despite her family chaos) and would tell

ikki enters the room with pema (I hate her but she's a mother) and lin would walk up to her calmly and just ask her where she abandoned xue

I think everyone in the room (tenzin, katara, bumi, kya etc) couldn't believe it but when they saw the panic on ikki's face they got confirmation

I think no one wanted to talk to her for a while, I think the silence killed her because even Pema was upset with her actions - but she doesn't understand, her mother always wanted the girl to disappear.

Never again was she alone with Xue and she noticed the sentinel around her actions with her sister and understood

I think she understood her feelings a few years later but Lin didn't allow any approach (we can't blame her, she was traumatized) but Xue still adored her

Tenzin kept her quiet so he wouldn't freak out but he "got over it" a few years later, but that completely drove them apart, he loves his daughter but he managed to stare at her in the first few months

Awww I can also see Xue loving Ikki a lot and not understanding why there's some disconnect. She just loves Ikki and wants to spend lots of time with her.

Xue doesn't remember that she got ditched by her big sister. But she remembers calling out for her and Mommy and Daddy to come get her. This is her biggest nightmare since she was a baby and all she wants is to be with her family.

I can see this incident creating a lot more distance between Tenzin and his kids with Pema. Lin just wants to raise Xue in private and protect her from the drama. At the same time, Xue has her older siblings and she deserves to know them and be with them too. But if Ikki is going to act up like this to hurt Xue, then Lin won't allow it and neither will Tenzin

Tenzin is angry at Ikki because that was extremely dangerous and Xue is innocent. He is ok with Ikki being angry with him, but doesn't want her to direct it at Xue.

For the most part, both AU Linzin and canon Linzin having a baby is hypothetical.

Canon Linzin had their baby, Xue 🩵💚 and she's doing great with them.

AU Linzin, I'm not sure if they will have her. But if they did, Linzin will be hearing this quite often in the house:

"Kang, give me Xue! You've been holding her for too long!"

"I don't give a fuck." Continues to hold baby in one arm and munch on apple with other hand. "She's my sister."

"She's my sister, too. It's my turn to hold her!"

"You can have her when she needs a diaper change."

"Ugggh!"

The Beifong siblings have no problem accepting and loving their newest baby sister 🩷 except they do judge their parents bc they know exactly how she came to be in the world
