This is Roz Kaveney. We've been friends since 1985, and I can attest that she's been on the right side of history. I learned so much from her:
You should read this article. (And if you do, post your favourite quote or thing you learned from it...)

Dec 20th kicks off my new NYC residency “Library & Archive”, at Friends and Lovers in Brooklyn from 7:30 PM–4 AM!
The night opens with a live beat / deep listening session (7:30–9:30 PM), where I’ll be experimenting with new sounds from my Wake n Bake Vol. 1 project and sharing rare gems from my archive.
Then, the party shifts into night time vibes with DJ sets by the incredible Dylan Ali and Stonie Blue, whose selections are always inspiring, experimental, and guaranteed to keep ya ass shaking on dance floor. I’ll also be spinning a set dedicated to the early-mid 2010s blog, Tumblr, and SoundCloud eras—an ode to my party-era tribe (Sway Kids🔥🔥🔥🔥)
Plus, The New Cari.com magazine will host a pop-up celebrating their latest art issue alongside treasures from their archive.
This is a Xtra Creative House Idea
Big up the God @run_p !
It’s gonna be a maaaad ting! You should never miss my DJ sets, and let me know who you’d love to see at the next Library & Archive NYC (L&A:NYC)!

With Alberta and other Canadian provinces passing laws against trans youth, you may be curious about how much autonomy the law actually gives to children.
I recommend this article that just came out:

In the 1970s, some gay community leaders turned their backs on the “less respectable” (read: trans, gender-weird, drag-performing, poor, racialized and/or flaming) members of their community in a cynical ploy to gain acceptance and power for themselves—at the expense of their more marginalized peers. There’s no better example than when, in 1973, the New York Pride Committee tried to bar trailblazing trans women of colour Marsha P. Johnson and Sylvia Rivera from participating in the Pride parade because they were giving the organization “a bad name.” This decision by the local Pride committee exemplified a broader trend where some gay activists sought to push out more marginalized community members to win respectability and influence.  Flash forward 50 years and history is repeating itself in Canadian politics. As anti-LGBTQ2S+ hate rises across Canada, with even CSIS sounding the alarm, and trans lives being used as a political punching bag by far-right groups, Melissa Lantsman and Eric Duncan, the two (and only two) openly gay Conservative MPs, and other Conservative MPs who’ve called themselves our allies, are turning their backs on LGBTQ2S+ rights.

OPINION: The paper of record is under fire for its transphobic coverage. How did it get this bad, and who is calling the shots?

I'm not done hating on Xtra yet, I want to laugh how it was never included in anything. It's not in the timeline in the 10th Memorial Book (Xtra released September 22, 2003):
Tumblr media
They put Raid of Arms in here though. You know, the lost media no one knows anything about that was exclusive to i-mode devices as part of the Guilty Gear Club website:
Tumblr media
There's a list of books further down that doesn't have Xtra either. I included the top of the Soundtrack section to show I didn't crop it out or something.
Tumblr media
Xtra was the only volume published by Kodansha instead of Studio DNA, Enterbrain, or Ohzora Publishing like all the other volumes, so none of the "other books in this series" advertising sections in any of the manga would have had it even if it did sell well and was popular.
That said, ASW never even announced its serialization OR physical volume release on their website. This is an October 2003 archive and the latest news were from August 1st and July 16th.
Tumblr media
The next site archive Wayback has is from November 27, 2003, and updates to include a bunch of stuff from December '03 up to early February 2004, but it still doesn't mention Xtra anywhere. Xtra was serialized in Monthly Magazine-Z from December 2002 to September 2003. The guiltygearx site archive doesn't mention this serialization in any of the November or December 2002 news. This is just barely on the tail end of the era when the GGX website still linked to Sol/Ky yaoi pages, so you could probably argue that at one point ASW had more support for yaoi than it did for Xtra lol
None of the Guilty Gear Worlds mention Tyr or Mizuha either and the events of Xtra are only mentioned on the pages of characters that made cameos in it.
Like dust in the wind.

Project 2025 wants to protect the "nuclear family" by making it impossible for trans kids to have autonomy or privacy, for queers to adopt or raise families of their own, and for women to leave. Enjoy!

“Across the continent, homophobia and toxic masculinity restrict the way people express themselves and their talents. Some blame the legacy of colonialism and its enforcement of rigid gender roles; others blame local elites, secular and religious, who exploit that legacy. It is often dangerous to be unconventional and non-conforming. But there are signs of hope: many Gen Z African men seem to be less bothered about what other people think about their fashion choices and many are changing the toxic narrative and promoting freedom of expression.”
The designers behind these African fashion labels are wielding androgyny to confront conservatism

Well it's been awhile, how's everyone doing
I've been... Uh...... Same old same old I guess? I can't really remember where I was last time I was here so idk where I am in comparison lol
It seems like it's only been 2 months but feels like longer, in that time I decided that I do want to go ahead and try cutting out all social media long term rather than just migrating from twitter to bluesky and doing the same exhausting yet addicting social media shit there, unfortunately maybe a week ago I thought about how I'd maybe like to get back into the tumblr routine as I feel that I probably like this place best out of any site, but then I read an article trying to realistically judge the risks that trump will have to online trans people/spaces and decided not to get hooked on social media again if the companies are seemingly likely to outright ban trans people for fear that the government cracks down on them hosting what it will try to redefine as grooming material
It was a depressing but fascinating and important to read article btw
I also recommend reading this if you have the spoons, fair warning though that it's 24,000 words and if you download it as a pdf like it suggests then it spans across 88 pages total if you include stuff like table of contents
I did read a bit of it, specifically a bit about creating a trans micro library, as it was linked from this article
So yea now I'm interested in building a trans micro library
If anyone has any suggestions for stuff to add (links would be especially helpful but not strictly necessary if you don't have it off the top of your head) just let me know, I'd be interested in books, pdfs, zines, music, art, games, porn, whatever, also bonus points if it's transfeminine
I haven't started building it yet but off the top of my head there are a few things I plan to add:
- fucking trans women zine that I have favourited on the internet archive
- hardcoded, a transfem visual novel style porn game where you play as a transfem robot
- mp3 and flac formats of black dresses discography, along with ada rooks discography from when the album's were free to download on bandcamp last(?) winter
- some trans porn I have saved (I haven't looked in awhile but I assume I have some downloaded)
Now that I list it I realize how shit my memory is cause I swear there was more I had floating around up there but whatever I'll remember it later
Anyways yea see ya later
