Hello! I'm happy to welcome a new Val kilmer fan into our world. I'm glad you like my blog, friend.

Okay so as Val fan for 15 years and a Joanne whalley hater.. I think most of us have a reason or two for that. Not just because she's Val's ex.. I love many of val's ex girlfriends. There is a very long answer to that question.

The short one usually comes to how messy the divorce was and how she tried to tarnish his reputation as a person and an actor. Also Val being an enigmatic figure and not explaining himself often leaves room for speculation.

Thankfully Val's reputation has been redeemed with him finally opening up in his memoir I'm your huckleberry and documentary VAL (highly recommended btw)

Also if you're a Joanne fan don't feel bad. Val still loves her. Val has forgiven Joanne and they are on much better terms now. I guess I'm not a very forgiving person as he is lol. She also gave him his precious children ❤️

Reading their interviews while they still together was sweet. And they even worked together again after the divorce.

i did my usual monthly thing on instagram where i post a story about how i don't want to be friends with ppl who support joanne k.r.'s work in any capacity (which. i'm on cosplay insta soooooo) and that i feel unsafe around those people. i post stuff like that semi-regularly just to make sure ppl can see it (not that it's stopped ex-mutuals of mine who in many cases i've met irl from posting hp cosplay…..) and it's usually along the lines of "heyy my usual reminder that if you support hp you're doing a great job of alienating trans people and making them feel unsafe around you, myself included, so consider whether or not your nostalgia is worth trans safety xoxo". today for the first time someone responded to me and i haven't been able to get myself to look at the dm 💀 from the preview i've seen they're like "oh i don't support her but i still wanna do hp cosplay and i don't want you feeling unsafe around me when we meet…" and i just rlly don't have the energy to deal with that rn 💀

Heading to California

The mister and I are driving to California tomorrow. It's not nearly as exciting as you might think, it's just a town in southern Maryland.

We're going on a fact-finding mission. We might want to live there. It's early days yet, NOTHING is happening, but we'd like to have a look around. It would offer a lot more than what we have here in Denton (restaurants, shopping, medical care, etc) and we'd still be about an hour from the Edgewater gang. Bonus, we wouldn't have to worry about Chesapeake Bay Bridge traffic all summer. Not gonna' lie, when I google the town and see that they have everything from Belk to JoAnn's to Sally Beauty, it sounds like every convenience I left behind in Mt. Juliet. Man, do I miss that ease of living. There's a Lowe's, a Home Goods, a movie theater, a couple of malls, five grocery stores, a Target, and so on. The reason that this small town offers so much is that it's rubbing shoulders with Patuxent River Naval Air Station. Unfortunately, the closest airport is Reagan National in D.C., about 65 miles away. I think BWI (Baltimore) is 75. Not ideal, but not any worse than what we're dealing with now. I've been looking at real estate online, and at the moment it's in our price range. Before I build this up in my mind as the answer to everything that is wrong here in Caroline County, we're going to have a look around. I know the grass always seems greener elsewhere, but folks, we hardly have grass here. Literally and figuratively. If nothing else tomorrow I get to stop at a Home Goods (Halloween stuff!) and a Sally beauty (hair stuff!). I miss civilization so much. Our plan is to ditch Denton first thing in the morning and head over the bridge and turn south.

We'll explore, have a little lunch (so many restaurants to choose from!), and then head back home. Feels like the Amish on Rumspringa. I'll report our findings here on the ol' blog and let you know if it was much ado about nothing or has some potential. Our choices in Maryland seem to be dense urban or the sticks. This might be a happy medium. Scratch that, I do like Easton (here on the Eastern Shore) and really like their Talbot County property taxes. There's plenty to consider, and we're willing to explore the possibilities. We've been in Maryland just over two years, and I really think there's a better life for us outside of Denton. It's sure worth a look. On that note, I'll wrap this up. I hope that you keep your hearts and minds open to change. Don't be afraid to admit that you need to make changes. This may or may not be something we'll pursue, and if we do, it won't be right away. We're just in the talking stages. We do know that we need more than this. We also know that although we worked hard to make this house very pretty, it's not a house we can live in at 80 or 85. Ideally we'll need a one story house, or at least a home with the primary suite on the first floor. We're not at that point yet, but we also don't want to have to make that move when we're really old. Is it silly to think of that at 60? I don't think so. Better than 80. Those are the thoughts rattling around in my head, so I just dumped them all out for you. Pick through the mess and keep what you like. Sending out oodles of love tonight, I hope you feel it. If you need to make any changes, I'll be your cheerleader. Do it! Follow your dreams! Get what you need! Be brave!

I absolutely understand the temptation to wait for a completed fic, but I have to tell you -- at least from the writer's perspective -- it is so much fun having readers along for the ride while it's still updating. cursed book club or something. charles dickens core. either way, I'll try to make the wait between updates as painless as possible. and there's a zero chance in hell this will be abandoned, if that helps.

that really means a lot re: the handling of trauma. it's massively important to me never to shy away from the dark reality of the world as I've built it, but part of what fascinates me and what I wanted to explore here is that tension between oppressive circumstances, the trauma/ramifications of that, and just. normal people. living their lives. who (in this case) happen to be a bunch of otherwise decent and pretty good-hearted teens. domestic dystopia, if you will. the darker subject matter should always exist in service to the story rather than for shock value, so hearing feedback that it's not gratuitous is extremely, extremely validating and quite honestly always a relief to hear. xoxo

Here’s one of my first candles that I made in 2020/2021.

The vessel is a vintage ceramic planter that was gifted to me for candle purposes by Joanne Harvey (I really loved that planter - it’s beautiful) and the candle was purchased by Erika Patricia Zavala xoxo

This candle....I cannot remember if it was a regular candle or if it was one of my Magpie Treasures Candles with a gift inside. If there was a gift inside, it was likely one of my crystals or precious/minerals necklaces that I used to make.

The fragrance was in patchouli fragrance and essential oils.

✨ SMAC 2024 - DAY 2 ✨

On the second day, we invited our queen Ryana Violet to be our insider on the orange carpet at #SMAC2024 🍊💜

RYANA TV is at your service to ask your favorite characters about how the feel at the event.

First, we found Chase Wraiths from "The Trickster" who cosplayed Roland Holiday from "Hiding Holiday" by FLX Pictures.

💜: I remember your cosplay of Roland Holiday last year. How are you excited about new episodes coming next month?

💛: MY JAW DROPPED! I'M SO EXCITED AND I CAN'T WAIT!!!

Then, she encountered May Bradbury from "The Trickster".

💜: So how did you react to yesterday's Kiss Marry Kill answer of your voice actress @ alittlemid ?

🧡: I'll speak to my lawyer... Just kidding, that was a really tough choice and I'm ready to die for her XOXO

Not so far away, Ryana found Adam and Joanne who played Rose and Dave in "QUEST".

💜: Congratulations on your engagement, darlings!

🤍: Thank you. It's so funny that when "QUEST" came out, people were already like "oh, I hope Rose and Dave end up together".

🖤: And here we are 😁

Then, our queen bumped into another queen, Karina from "The Trickster".

💜: Apparently, you're everyone's favorite character in "The Trickster".

💖: I do my best to stay on top. Everyone loves female villains, too.

In the end, Ryana talked to Mia from "MOVE ON" about the performance.

💜: The way you changed SMAC's scene into a dance floor was so AMAZING! Everyone is so excited about "MOVE ON"!

🤍: And it's not even the beginning. It was just a warm-up 👀

And it WAS a warm-up because Mia, Caesar and Valerie just showed up in the outfits inspired by BRAT by Charli xcx. Anyone joining 💚 BRAT summer 💚?

They're setting up new trends, darlings. And I'm a trendy queen, so I wore my BRAT summer dress as well. Call me Ryana Bratty cuz I'm a BRAT.

And then we found our beloved director MG Milosh. We can't wait to see "MOVE ON" as a final product.

💚: I hope it's gonna be released on the next year's SMAC.

🖤: Umm... hopefully? If enough people kick me in the butt so I'll move on (no pun intended)

Today, a month ago, I went to a Lady Gaga concert for the first time and it was one of the best experiences of my life. I will never forget the day I bought the tickets: I was in class, then my friends and I told the teacher and she was very happy for us. And of course I will never forget the day of the concert in Barcelona. At first it was going to be September 22 but was delayed to January 14 because of fibromyalgia. There is no better way to start the year. We were very lucky that by then she was recovered. And wow if she was! She was incredible during the two hours, she did not stop for a second. At that time she made me feel a roller coaster of feelings, from pure euphoria to tears when she dedicated 'The edge of the glory' to the attacks in Barcelona. I've always liked Lady Gaga, but since that day I consider myself her fan and I'm very proud to be a Little Monster. I am very sorry for the people who have not been able to see her for the cancellation of the tour and I hope that Joanne will recover soon, which is the most important thing. On the next tour I will be for sure and hopefully have enough money to meet her in person. It would be a dream come true.

It's Tuesday and I'm Tired

It's 8:22pm and I swear I'm fighting the urge to go to bed. I've done a lot today - cranked out earrings, mopped the floors, two loads of laundry, weeded and watered, stained the wood that Mickey will use to make earring displays for me, and so on. I made good use of my hours, but I'm whipped. I didn't use to get tired from busy days. Is it age or have I allowed myself to get lazy? Either way, it's not fun. BUT...tomorrow will be fun. We've got several errands to run in Easton, and I'll be in STORES.

Granted, one of the stores is Lowe's, so that doesn't really count, but I'll also be in Michael's and maybe even Target or Kohl's. It's like a vacation! Do I sound excited? Is that sad? Know what's not sad? I've made tons of progress with earring inventory! The Halloween batch is coming right along. I have my sister's approval on these polka dot sets. I ask her opinion when I'm not sure, and she gave these the green light.

And those ghosts have been glittered and glazed.

Speaking of my wonderful, kind, generous, and thoughtful sister...look what she sent to me!

Stacks and stacks of beautiful paper! I feel like I won the lottery. I'l explain. That scrapbooking paper is what I use to make my cards and I can't find it around here. The JoAnn's in Easton only sells fabric and limited craft supplies. Michael's in Easton has a sparse supply of paper that never changes and it's mostly baby shower and wedding stuff. They still have Valentine and Easter paper out from last spring. I could drive an hour to Hobby Lobby in Dover but I don't like Hobby Lobby, and if their website is correct there's not much paper in stock anyway. So I've had to order online and pay extra per sheet pus shipping. Not good. My sister popped into the JoAnn store nearest to her and scooped up all of this fabulous paper at ten sheets for $3. I have ten sheets of each pattern and I can make 4 cards from each sheet. SCORE!! Even better, she included the blue plastic storage bin! I can't tell you what a relief it is to have this in my supply cabinet. I can coast a long time on this oh-so-generous gift from my sister. I should have taken a prettier photo of this bounty, but I was so excited when I opened the box that I snapped that between happy dances. I'm thrilled to my toes! That's it from me tonight. I'm heading upstairs for a long soak and a hard sleep. I'll be taking this pretty girl with me.
