min ho x gn!reader
wc: 2.5k
genre: enemies to lovers(?), reader is Q’s twin not twin ( tangerine & lemon vibes)
synopsis: your back and forth flirting with min ho takes an unexpected turn during chuseok.
warnings: some mentions of self-doubt
a/n: 1st fic from the 1k celebration! I do have a part two in mind, but i’m not sure if people would like that! lmk ur thoughts!
edit: here is part two!
You made your way over to Q’s dorm, knowing that you would have to see him.
Minho was the bane of your existence, and you were never one to enjoy his presence. He had seemed to be in an even worse mood recently with Kitty’s arrival and her meddling with everyone’s life. You loved Kitty, even though she did have her moments where she was a little all over the place. You had actually met her before the rest did, talking to her sometimes when Dae was facetiming her and you were studying with him.
Knocking on the door, you were surprised to see Minho open the door. He stared you down for a second, the air being awkward between you two the only sound being the facial mister in his other hand.
“Are you going to just stand there or are you going to let me in?”
Minho rolled his eyes and moved out of the doorway to let you in.
Waltzing in, you took to knocking on Q’ door, hearing some groaning coming from the other side. You opened the door, seeing Q laying in his bed still half asleep.
Grabbing his blanket, you puled it off of him.
“Morning sleepy head!”
Q groaned and lifted his head up from his pillow.
“Why are you here now? I thought we were meeting up for coffee.”
“My sweet darling brother, I couldnt just come because I miss you?”
He squinted at you, not buying your story.
“Okay I wanted to seeing if someone was here, but it seems that they didn’t stay the night today.” before he could respond, Kitty walked into the room yawning and seemingly in her pjs.
Your eyes widened and so did hers when she realized you were standing there.
“Kitty!”
“Yn!”
“I promise this isn’t what it looks like-”
You backed out of the room, awkwardly shaking your head.
“It’s fine! I’ll just be out here!”
Closing their bedroom door you heard the most obnoxious laughter behind you. You took a deep breath in, and turned your head to see Minho sitting on their couch with a cup of tea in his hands. You went to go sit down next to him, sighing.
“So it looks like you found out.”
“Were none of you planning on telling me?”
“Of course I wasn’t going to tell you, I’m not your handler.”
“Well of course not, you’re my lover.” you said leaning close to his face, batting your eyelashes at him.
You both stared at each other, and he nudged you away, feeling slightly awkward with you so close to his face. He didn’t want you so close, his heartbeat being slightly faster at your proximity.
“Shut up. That’s not even remotely funny.”
“I never said it was a joke.”
You both started bickering about it, not noticing when Kitty and Q came out of their room.
They both stared at you guys arguing with a small smile on each of their faces. It seemed obvious to everyone except the two of you that you guys were into each other, but if they told you guys they knew both of you would start spiraling.
Q liked seeing his sibling so happy, especially with Chuseok around the corner. Both of you weren’t going anywhere since you guys were expats, but seeing everyone go home always made you more homesick than normal. He remembered when his parents decided to adopt you, saying it would be nice for him to have a sibling that was his age. He was worried that you were going not like him, but you both took to each other fast. Being joined at the hip since your adoption, you always joked that you guys were twins, despite not even having the same birthday. But you made sure no one knew that your birthday wasn’t even the same day, making everyone everywhere address you both as twins.
He cleared his throat which made both you and Minho turn your attention to him & Kitty.
“Are you ready for that coffee?”
—
You had spent more and more time in Q’s dorm now that you knew Kitty was also there. It was refreshing having someone else deal with the guys, even if she did have some drama with Dae.
You weren’t the closest with Dae this year, having distanced yourself with all the drama he was swept up in. You pitied him a bit, being able to clearly tell his relationship with Yuri was a facade. Still, with Chuseok being in two days, you knew that it would be hard for him.
Walking into the living room of your brother’s dorm, you sighed and threw yourself ontop of Q. He groaned when you landed on him, your elbow hitting him in the ribs somehow.
You smiled at the noise he let out, seemingly satisfied.
“Have you seen Dae today?”
“No, he went home already. Something I guess came up? I’m not too sure, he seemed a bit stressed out about it.”
You hummed, a bit sad about it. Dae had left KISS early, and you weren’t able to talk to him.
The front door opened, and Minho walked in, letting out a sigh when he saw you there.
“Oh great, you’re here.”
“Aw Minho, did you miss me?”
“Do you think a dog misses it’s fleas?”
You stuck your tongue out at him, and he reciprocated it.
“Do you two ever get tired of arguing?” Q said, looking up from his phone.
You rolled off of him and went over to Minho, wrapping your arms around him.
Minho tried swatting your arms away, but you squeezed him tighter.
“Aww come on Q, you’re telling me that you don’t think we love each other?”
Minho’s mouth dropped wide open when you said that, never wanting to hear the word love come out of your mouth pertaining to him.
“I could never love you, you’re too annoying.” He grumbled wiggling himself free from your grasp.
You pouted and let out a huff,
“Minnie, you’re being too mean.”
The face that he had made left you satisfied and you went back to the couch with Q.
The silence that encased the three of you wasn’t awkward per say but you could’ve done without it.
Minho cleared his throat and both you and Q whipped your heads towards him.
Minho had always thought you guys were sometimes weirdly in sync like that, and it made him second guess if you guys actually were twins.
“So, are you guys going to Kitty’s chuseok dinner?”
You blinked at him, not even knowing that Kitty was hosting a dinner.
Q nudged your arm and you glanced at him with a small frown.
“Yeah, we’re going, are you?”
“No, I have a date with Lulu that day.”
You smiled at the thought of him going on a thought with Lulu, knowing that somehow he would probably mess it up.
“Lulu, huh? Sound’s interesting.”
“We’ve been flirting since her trainee days, it’s going to be amazing.”
“Well it’ll be fun to hear about!”
Q had said something to Minho about it, but you tuned out of the conversation, sending a few texts back and forth with Kitty.
She asked if you were busy, and if you could help her with the grocery shopping for the dinner (you assumed she assumed you were down to go to the dinner).
You told her you could meet her at the entrance of their dorm building and she said she would be over there in a few minutes.
You quickly got up and grabbed you bag, giving Q a quick hug.
“You’re finally leaving?”
“Don’t worry Minnie, I’ll be back soon!” You blew a kiss at him and laughed at his reaction, leaving both boys shocked.
—
Kitty’s chuseok was finally here, and she was running around the dining area, grabbing the last few things for the table.
You had shown up a little earlier than everyone, having promised Kitty you would help set up. You were finishing the table settings, turning around to grab the last of the silverware, when you accidentally ran into someone.
“Sorry! I didn’t see you-”
“Of course not. You tend to not look.”
You made eye contact with Minho, who seemed unamused. You had a slight frown on your face, ignoring his quip.
Sidestepping him you scurried along, finishing your task.
Minho was caught off guard, you never didn’t respond with your own quip, always being a thorn in his side that he seemed to not be able to get rid of.
The rest of the night you ignored his presence, choosing to sit next to Alex and leaving him to sit with Madison. No matter how annoying he thought you were, he did think you were lightyears better than Madison. He felt off somehow, seeing you act so different. Yes you were still laughing and making jokes with everyone else, but he could tell that your smile didn’t fully reach your eyes, and that you seemed to keep your laughter short.
Before he could ask you if anything specific was wrong, his phone buzzed with a text from Lulu. He had been so focused on you ( and also ignoring Madison), that he had forgotten about his date. You had excused yourself from the table before he did, stating that you just weren’t feeling well. Q had given you a worried glance but you shook your head at him and he seemed to get the hint that you wanted to be alone. You had assumed it was the twin telepathy that you both have.
His eyes had followed your retreating figure, and he muttered a goodbye to Kitty who was confused that he was leaving. He mentioned his date with Lulu, and walked towards the exit, hoping he would find you around there before his date.
You sat on the steps of the school, pulling your sweater’s sleeves over your hands, letting the tears flow from your eyes. You were frustrated for feeling so homesick and wanting to act normal like your brother. He seemed to not be as homesick, knowing that sometimes your relatives could be harsh. He also seemed to be doing well this year, having a good group of friends and a loving boyfriend. You knew that even though his friends were also your friends, besides Kitty you sometimes felt that they felt forced to be around you.
Minho had found you sitting on the steps, and he wasn’t really sure what he was supposed to do, or say at this point. He had never expressed any interest in your emotions other than your annoyance, and he also was just horrible at comforting people. Ignoring the vibrating of his phone, he went and sat down next to you, waiting for you to realize he was there.
“Q, I love you but I wanna be alone right now.”
“Well, I’ll pass on the message to him.” you glanced at the owner of the voice you knew so well, not knowing what to say to him.
You sighed and turned your focus on the sky once more.
“Don’t you have a date to be getting ready for?” you had meant for it to come out snarky, but you both could tell it just came out more sad than anything else.
He nodded and hummed.
“Yeah. But you seemed to need someone to talk to. And lucky for you I’m not only incredibly attractive-”
“And humble apparently”
“But I’m also a great listener.”
You turned to meet his gaze, not seeing a hint of a joke in his eyes.
“I’m just homesick.”
He nodded, knowing how that felt. For him he felt homesick with his mother, spending time with her and getting to see her all the time. His father on the other hand– well he had assumed that a normal father-son relationship boiled down to sending presents when he seemed to remember he had a son.
“I know it’s dumb too, but I feel like I’m just annoying to everyone sometimes, and that everyone except for a few people only see me as Q’s sibling. I just feel out of place sometimes. It’s not always a feeling that’s there, but today it is.”
Minho didn’t realize that you had felt this way. As annoying as you could be, he found that you truly cared for your friendships, and always kept within boundaries. He knew that if he were to ask even your classmates you were well liked, keeping to yourself but willing to help those if needed.
“I know I’m probably the last person you wanna hear this from, but you’re not annoying.”
You gave him a skeptical look and he let out a soft laugh.
“Okay, sometimes you’re annoying. But you’re someone that people really enjoy to be around. I know whatever I say may seem hollow, but you really do mean a lot to people. I don’t think people just see you as Q’s sibling, I believe they see you for you. You’re kind, smart, and witty.”
You stared at him, a little shocked at how he saw you. All this time you thought he actually hated you, but perhaps you were wrong?
A small smile crept onto your lips, and he felt something in him swell at your smile.
“Thank you, Minho.” you whispered, fiddling with your sleeves.
He wasn’t sure what it was, but there seemed to be something between the two of you. Neither one of you said anything, the silence palpable . Both of you failed to realize that you were both leaning closer to each other’s faces, close enough to kiss until his phone started ringing.
The ringing snapped both of you out of whatever trace you were in, and he looked to see who was calling him.
You saw his phone screen light up with Lulu’s name and contact picture, and you immediately felt awkward. He had a date tonight, and whatever almost happened between the two of you was most definitely a bad idea.
Minho seemed torn as to what to do, until your voice reached his ears.
“Answer it.”
He hesitated for a moment longer before getting up from the stairs and answering the call.
Lulu was calling to let him know she was running a few minutes late, traffic being bad for no reason. She told him that she’d be there as fast as she could, and that she was happy to see him.
He nodded along to what she was saying, acutely aware that you were behind him, hearing him agree with what she said on the phone.
He quickly hung up and turned back around to apologize to you, noticing that you were gone.
You had left when he got up sprinting to your dorm, heart beating fast and head full of thoughts of what could’ve happened between the two of you if she hadn’t called.

02. The note under your desk | Minho (xo kitty)
”it all started with a note under her desk.”

Thanks for reading <3 @myahwritesss @sparkysparking101 @suzzie63 @upsidedownjill @lovely-hao @lupinette @seoli-16 @rory-cakes @sir-simp @rubes26 @chaerins-world @sadiebrookeholt @sincerely-aaronette @instabull @itsnotino
——— MASTERLIST | 02. Kind Regards, N | NEXT ———
Minho bunches up the note in his hand and pounds it into the wall. The paper bounces easily and falls, crumpled, onto the floor, which does nothing to ease the kind of anger bubbling up through his chest.
What nerve, he thinks as his eyes see all red, who the fuck thinks they can mess with him and get away with it?
He’d almost laughed as he read the words once. Again, and again. Until the reality had kicked him in the balls and he came to the conclusion that whoever this person is, they’re messing with him.
Dear Minho,
First off, that’s such a patronizing way to ask for help. Not even a please? Who the hell do you think you are? What you need help with are your manners, bro. Oh and I’m not Kimberley and I will definitely not pass on your message. Maybe you can try asking again — nicely, and then maybe I’ll consider telling her about you.
Also, Kimberley doesn’t sit at this desk. Maybe you should’ve known that first before even making a move. Kind regards,
N <3
A stranger.
A stranger had read his note. And this stranger might know exactly who Minho is. Great.
Now his entire reputation is at stake because of this stupid idiot who thinks it’s fun to pass on messages like love letters.
A knock sounds on his door and before he can ask, Q’s head pops in, “hey dude. You got a minute?”
“That depends,” Minho sighs and leans back into his plush bean bag, “I’m currently in the middle of a crisis.”
“What happened?” Q frowns, closing the door behind him before settling down on the carpet opposite.
Minho opens his mouth. Closes it. Regards Q with narrowed eyes. Then, a scowl forms onto his face.
Q blinks, “what? What did I do?”
“If I tell you, you cannot tell anyone.”
“Uh—sure, okay.”
“Swear it on your mother’s head.”
“Wha—Minho, come on. Just tell me—“
“Swear it.”
“Okay okay fine,” Q rolls his eyes, “I swear on my mother’s head. Now tell me.”
Minho recaps everything from the moment he’s dropped the note underneath the said desk to the episode that occurred just a few minutes prior.
Q cannot help himself but laugh, covering his mouth in an attempt to calm himself down as the other boy’s face twists into a ferocious glare that would’ve sent anyone running home, “oh my god,” Q says, trying to hide his chuckle, “this—you—oh my god, this person’s hilarious!”
“It’s not funny!” Minho rages, hands going up to grapple through his locks, “what am I supposed to do now?!”
“Well, assuming that it’s a girl from the handwriting,” Q shoots him a pointed look as he settles more comfortably against the couch, “I’d say you should write back.”
“And say what? That it was a mistake?” Minho rolls his eyes.
“No, but if she’s sitting in the front row, maybe she has all the resources you need. Ever thought of that?”
At that, Minho straightens and looks at his best friend as if a lightbulb has struck, “you think she’s smart?”
“I believe so. Why else would she be in the front row?” Q shrugs.
“Q,” Minho’s eyes fly up to his as a smile breaks across his face, “I think you’re a genius.”
“I know,” Q grins, “thank me later.”

Nina is half asleep when her fingers curl over the note under her desk.
It hadn’t been her intention to find it, but somehow it seems as though fate enjoys playing tricks on her. Huddling behind her stack of books and quickly ripping it open under her desk, Nina quickly places the paper over her copybook, slouching over her desk as though in deep thought when in truth she’s reading over the words with barely concealed amusement.
Dear N,
Well well well, nice to meet you. I guess I should apologize for my “patronizing” behaviour, as you said, but maybe you should just tone it down a little. Juuuust a little. Violence was never the answer, honey.
Anyway, since you’re the one who received my beautifully crafted handwritten letter, maybe you’d like to help me out with my horrible grades.
Pretty please? I’m asking nicely this time ;)
Yours sincerely,
Minho.
P.S: you know my name but I don’t know yours. Care to share?
Nina shouldn’t answer. She shouldn’t get involved with such a boy who seems to suck at flirting and who’s desperate enough to do it for the grades. Yet, his half-baked attempts only cause an amused smile to slowly crawl up her lips, one that she quickly hides when Professor Chung turns to ask the class a question.
Hiding behind a curtain of hair and leaning over her desk, Nina takes out a fresh piece of paper, and starts to write.
———
Dear Minho,
who even calls anyone “honey” these days? I think you need a real-life update. In any case, why don’t you ask the library for a tutor to help you out? I’m sure they’ll have much better resources than a random stranger from lecture.
Try it out, it might work wonders for you. Who knows, maybe you could use your flirting skills then ;)
Sincerely, N.
P.S: the first letter of my last name is S. That’s all I can give you for now.
———
Dear N.S.
I finally have some initials to call you by. Nice, although, a name would’ve sufficed. I’ve tried the library, horrible staff and the tutors are just there because they want a piece of me. What can I say? I’m a horribly enchanting man who cannot go anywhere in peace. So please, help me?
Kindly,
Minho
———
Dear Minho,
bold of you to assume that they’re enchanted by you.
I don’t know, should I help you? You’re not being very convincing. Then again, what do I know? I’m just some girl whose notes you need in order to get good grades right? Reality check, my man. Maybe you need to realize the world does not revolve around you :)
Kind regards,
N.S.
———
Dear N.S,
I’ll just say it’s still not fair you know my name and I don’t know yours, so I’m holding that against you. You keep insulting me but you also keep answering my notes. Either you’re a masochist and enjoy watching me suffer or you’re just a little bit entertained. I know I am even though I’m still struggling with Psychology.
Kindly, Minho.
———
The water is icy cold.
Minho’s limbs are freezing by the time he’s twenty laps in, the heat slowly spreading from his heart to the rest of his muscles as he keeps moving through the water as easily as a fish in the sea. This is where he feels the most alive, the most content.
Underneath the surface, everything is dulled out. He can only hear himself, the echo of sounds and voices drowned out by the alienated air pulsing through Minho’s ears.
Breaking through the water with a shaky breath, he quickly swims towards the edge and grabs on. On the other side are toddlers with their swimming instructors, voices loud and bouncing off the walls of the indoor-heated pool.
Minho grabs onto his cap, tugs it off his head before shaking out his hair. Part of him feels guilty for not doing more but he can’t find it in himself to continue for today.
“Hey if it isn’t Minho!”
The said man turns to find one of his swim mates, Jung Kiseok, striding towards him with purpose. He lifts a hand in greeting, “hey man.”
“Long time no see!” Kiseok claps him on the back before jumping into the water, the edges sloshing as he does so, “what have you been up to lately? You don’t seem to be around much.”
“Yeah I’ve been trying to save my grades,” Minho grimaces.
Kiseok groans sympathetically, “Oh I know how that feels. You found a tutor yet?”
“I don’t like the library tutors,” Minho sniffs, causing his friend to laugh, “why don’t you enter a study group? Wouldn’t it be easier?”
“Study group? How’d you find those?”
“Just go on the School Portal, man. They’re everywhere, for every subject.”
Minho straightens at that, eyes wide with hope, “how am I only finding this out now?”
“Shit, you really haven’t been studying have you?” Kiseok laughs even harder, “I’ll send you the link to one if you want. I know the TA in charge well.”
“That would be great, thanks.”
it isn’t until that night that Minho opens up the letter found underneath the desk from his Psychology class this morning. He finds that, ironically, he looks forward to having snippets of conversation with that infamous N.S. It somehow makes his day a little better, a little brighter. He wishes he can know what she looks like, at least.
Muscles aching and hair still wet from his shower, the said young man settles onto his couch with a heavy, tired sigh, before finally giving in and opening up the letter.
Dear Minho, okay. You got me. I’m actually really entertained by our conversation so yes, caught me red-handed. I wouldn’t have imagined that you would answer my note after the first time. Question: why did you take Psych if you’re struggling? I’m sure there must be another elective you can take.
Anyway, I’ll play nice and forward you the latest notes. Just give me your email.
Kindly, N.S.
“Yes,” Minho mutters to himself, inwardly punching the air as he quickly scribbles down his response and folds it as small as he can get it to go.
His phone suddenly vibrates. The young man grabs hold, presses down onto the call button, before placing it by his ear. “Minho, how are you?” “Eomma,” he switches to Korean, the language flowing smoothly through his tongue, “I’m good. How are you?”
“You’ve been very quiet lately. How’s your swimming going?”
“it’s alright,” he lounges back onto the couch, “same old.” “I hope you’re not skipping swimming practice.” On the contrary, it’s school he’s skipping out on. Not that she needs to know that.
“No Eomma, everything’s fine okay? You don’t have to worry.”
“and your grades?”
He clenches his teeth, “my grades are fine.”
Another lie. It’s the only thing that will keep his mother’s nose out of his business. They talk for a few more minutes before his mom is called back to work, and Minho cuts off, head resting back against his couch as another exhale escapes his lips. Lying to his mother had never been in his plans, but he finds it’s easier to do that rather than having her on his back about every little single thing. He’s surprised she has even let him be on his own for more than one day, considering that she used to pester and harrass him about being on time and being perfect at everything he did.
It was tiring. And Minho had grown sick of it.
His phone pings once more. Minho looks down to find Kiseok’s message with a link tot the Study group he’d been bragging about earlier.
Maybe that will help him out.
————
“You going to study group later?”
Nina looks up from her book. It had been one of those rare occasions where she could actually rest after this hectic week that had just passed —what with her midterms coming up, her assignments, and having to find a part-time job to finance her living situation.
It’s also a very rare occasion that her roommate actually reaches out to talk to her like she actually exists. It’s so surprising that for a minute, Nina just looks at her in surprise without registering anything she has said.
“What?” Nina asks blankly.
Her roommate — her name is Karen Liu and she’s a cheerleader —cocks her head at her, long hair streaming down her left shoulder, “you okay?” She asks, “you seem a bit out of it lately.”
It’s not the first time that Karen tries engaging with her and for that, Nina feels grateful. But the thing is, Nina feels so…blank in comparison. Karen’s life is filled with colour and pops of bright vibrancy that seems to jump out of the page at you. She’s someone bright, bubbly, funny, everything that anyone’s ever wanted to be. She’s popular amongst the boys and the girls, so can Nina face her without ever feeling like she’s never enough?
So Nina avoids her. Like the plague. And despite Karen’s greatest attempts at reaching out to her, the latter would rather have it that way.
Nina isn’t someone ready to be thrust in the spotlight. She never was.
“Uh yeah,” she stutters out a reply upon realizing that Karen had been waiting all this time, “I’m good, just busy. And yeah—I’m coming to the study group later.”
A smile so bright fills Karen’s face, “great!” She chirps before slinging her tote bag over her shoulder, “I’ll see you then!”
Great. Now Nina has no other choice than to show up now that she’s made a promise she can’t avoid. And it’s ironic really, considering that she’d been planning to have a quiet evening to herself, listening to her favorite music and watching the latest videos about marine life; more specifically about orcas.
The afternoon goes by quicker than she wants it to and before she knows it, she’s walking straight into the library at five on the dot as the sun slowly descends in the horizon and glazes everything in summery gold despite the fact that it’s freezing outside. Winter is coming. Nina can feel it in her bones.
There are already a few people there and she quickly takes a seat next to a guy she hasn’t seen before. Karen sends her a subtle wave from across the table and she waves back shyly, before focusing on gathering her books from her bag.
“Right, thanks for coming everyone,I’ll just do a quick intro for the new faces around here,” the TA in charge stands and leans his palms against the table, making sure to get a glimpse of every face, “my name’s Alex and I’ll be in charge of the Psychology study group. Make sure you come every week because we don’t normally linger too much on each topic. These sessions are here to help you get a better understanding, not to actually revise any material.”
Nina nods along with everyone else, already knowing all this. She clicks and unclicks her pen out of habit.
“Today we’ll be reviewing on the different mental disorders. I’ll be passing out study sheets and key points to take note of for each,” Alex starts handing around some papers as he speaks, “feel free to ask any questions. Before we begin with the questions, have a quick-read though and discuss with the partner on your left.”
Nina turns instinctively towards a young man who seems unfamiliar, a new addition to the study group probably. He’s nicely dressed, with a crisp white polo and a beige cardigan thrown over him, pretty features framed by stylish locks.
“Hi,” his voice is deeper than she’d imagined, “my name’s Minho Song, I’m new to this study group thing and I pretty much hate Psychology. I’m a Sports Science major.”
He reaches a hand out and she shakes it, “hi, I’m—“
Wait.
Minho?
Could it be—
Her Minho? The guy with whom she’d been exchanging messages with all this time?
No way. No. The world can’t be that harsh to punish her like that.
“I’m—uh—“ Nina’s mind blanks out. Shit. She needs a new name, “my name’s Na—Nana.”
His brow dips in a furrow and Nina quickly realizes that he knows her initials, “I mean—yeah Nana Liu! Yeah. That’s my name.” She laughs to hide her nervousness, “nice to meet you.”
He seems amused, at least, “you from here?”
“No I moved here after high school,” good. It doesn’t seem like he’s suspicious in the slightest, “what gave me away?”
“Your accent. You speak English with an accent I can’t place.”
“Ah yes, well—it’s not my mother tongue.”
“What is it then?”
“I speak French, normally.”
“French,” his eyebrows rise up, “interesting. How come you ended up in Korea?”
She shrugs while trying to calm down the wild beating in her heart, “I thought it’d be cool to live here.”
“And how is that turning out for you?”
“Uhm,” quite horrible but she can’t say that, especially not to a native Korean guy whom she just literally met a few minutes ago. Although, if this is the same guy from the notes, then —
But what’s the chance of having two Minho’s in the same course as her and who are majoring in Sports Science?
She tries to probe a bit further, “so…sports science huh?”
Thankfully, Minho provides her an immediate answer to her silent question, “I’m a swimming athlete. Got a scholarship to study here.”
“Ah. That’s cool.”
Shit. So she’s right. Her gut feeling never lies.
“And you?”
“I’m a marine biology major.”
“Guess we have one thing in common then.”
“Oh,” she cocks her head at him, which is?”
“We both enjoy the sea, or the idea of it, anyway.”
“Okay guys,” Alex is quick to interrupt, “let’s focus on the work that needs to be done and we can get to know each other later, right?”
That shuts her right up, bringing back the reminder that this Minho is the same guy who’s trying to get her notes. Pompous, self-centered and insolent….somehow, this Minho standing before her doesn’t seem to add up to that same guy.
Nina manages to focus on the task at hand, pushing back her own personal feelings in order to get this assignment out of the way. Together, they discuss the ways in which Bulima and Anorexia are different and she really tries not put her focus elsewhere, stuffs it at the back of her mind like a secret she wishes to forget.
It's a long hour of work before Alex finally calls for a discussion. Then, he summarizes the content for the night before he lets them off, "remember," he calls out, "don't study by heart. Study first to understand."
"You done for the night?" Minho asks as they are packing up their bags.
Nina glances at him in surprise, "uh yeah. My classes are over. You?"
"I have this god awful swim practice I gotta get to," he tugs at his bangs in a manner so childlike she can't help but find endearing.
"Somehow, I'm very glad not to be in your place right now."
"That's because you haven't seen me swim."
Nina laughs, "I like the ocean, I'm not a big fan of swimming."
"Why not?"
"Well, nobody ever taught me how." She flushes upom realizing how sad that sounds, "well, it's not like an essential skill--"
"Uh I'm pretty convinced it's essential," he smirks at her.
"You're just biased because you're a literal mer-man."
"Merman?" Minho chortles, "oh god, haven't heard that one before."
it is only then that she realizes they're the only two left in the study room. She looks around, amazed that she had been so caught up in conversation that she'd barely heard any of the other students leave.
Minho seems to think so too as he slings his backpack over his shoulder, "let's get out of here."
"Do you like it?" Nina asks as they exit the library. The wind has picked up its pace, a lot colder as it whips across her face.
Minho shoots her a glance, "like what?"
"Swimming. Do you like it?"
There's a small pause. "I do."
"How...how does it feel? To swim?"
He takes his time to answer, “it feels…peaceful.” He looks at her then, eyes softening, “as if you’re the only one left in the world.”
Nina wonders how that feels like. And how, in context, is it defined as peaceful. Because she’s been alone and she feels like she’s alone despite being surrounded. And yet, peaceful is not the word that comes to mind.
“That sounds nice,” she murmurs absentmindedly, before spotting the gymnasium in the distance, “well, I guess that’s your stop.”
“Yeah,” Minho’s face creases into a soft smile, “I guess I’ll see you next study session. Don’t miss me too much.”
Nina chortles at that, “dream on, merman.”

word count : 1.1k
It'd been exactly two hours, twenty seven minutes and four seconds, five seconds, six seconds…
"You know I can feel your eyes burning into my face."
Putting down your biology textbook aside for a minute before you turned to face the one who’d been looking at you as though you’d disappear at any given moment.
Minho stared at you, now narrowing his eyes as he scoffed lightly,
"I'm not staring."
You deadpanned him as you raised an eyebrow.
"Okay then, do what you called me here to do. Study."
You nonchalantly said, ignoring the slight pout forming on your boyfriend's face because today you definitely didn't need to waste any time.
"Oh come onnnn it's been almost 3 hours!"
He said in a whiny tone that even if you didn't want to, made you bite your inner cheek to prevent yourself from grinning.
You wouldn't think he would complain about not getting attention because he didn't ever have to actually. If he wanted it, he'd get it unasked, be it from your friends or you.
But lately, both Q and Dae had been busy with their own studies, hence that also meant spending less time with their other best friend.
And as for you, you weren't one to deny your oh so lovely boyfriend of attention, in fact you'd welcome him with open arms when he would suddenly hug you tightly or when he'd kiss you at any given moment.
Unfortunately for him, you'd also been busy with your own studies, having to work a bit harder since you struggled in a few subjects.
Still, you paid no mind as you continued to read over the text about chromosomal disorders even if you could see from the corner of your eye that Minho had moved closer to you.
You had both decided to study together, having done your studying alone in your dorm but on his insistence to study together, you agreed to come over to his place, currently sitting at his desk with all your necessary items laid out.
"Why do you even need to continue studying when you have the most handsome, amazing, fantastic and bloody hot guy right by your side?"
Snorting at him, you turned your gaze to look at him from the corner of your eye,
"Please, I'd never say bloody hot, that is such a…British thing to say."
"So you do admit everything else is right?"
He smugly said as he smirked at you.
"I don't have time to feed your ego, I'm busy."
Sighing, you turned away from him as you now moved your chair to have your back facing him.
If you could have been able to see his expression, you'd probably have laughed because he just puffed and leaned back in his chair, crossing his arms. He felt even more frustrated because frankly he was tired of studying now.
Suddenly he got an idea that he knew would make you give in to him and as much as he found your current ignorance appealing, he'd never admit that to you, he wanted your attention then and there, and with him.
Scribbling on a piece of paper, a cheesy equation he'd found on instagram while scrolling on his explore page, yet he knew you'd find it adorable.
9x - 7i > 3 ( 3x - 7u )
9x - 7i > 9x - 21u
-7i > - 21u
i <3 u.
Lastly, finishing it off by drawing a small heart and adding a " ;) " at the end.
He folded the paper and quietly moved behind you, putting his hand above your head and slipping the note on the page you were reading.
Your gaze shifted to the sudden movement, curiously eyeing the note that was laid in front of you.
Putting your book on your lap, you opened the note with a little suspicion, Minho's face having a small grin upon successfully diverting your attention.
The second you opened the note, you read over the contents still keeping a straight face up until you saw the small "i <3 u” with a little winky face.
Snorting at the cheesiness of the note with an equation you were pretty sure you’d seen saved one of your plenty Pinterest boards,
“Love, we don’t even have a maths exam next, we have biology.”
Turning your chair you faced him, you bit your lower lip to prevent the grin from showing on your face.
It was Minho’s turn to now deadpan you,
“Even after I wrote such a…such a meaningful message portraying my true feelings, yet you’re still worried about studying when it’s almost been three hours already and you’re not even paying attention to me or what I want to say.”
“Babe I’m pretty sure I already saw this on Pinterest...and not to mention this is just 8th grade algebra.”
He glared at your words after his overdramatic speech to which you couldn’t help but burst out in giggles, he seemed like an angry little puppy when he glared at you like that.
“Okay okay fine, what do you want to do? I should take a study break anyways”
You asked putting aside the book, making sure to carefully place the note between the pages acting as a bookmark you’d always cherish.
With those words, it was as if a switch was flipped on his attitude and his eyes lit up as he grinned, excited to finally have your attention.
“So what I'm saying is we should…”
[ A few hours later, still, your “fifteen-minute break from studying suddenly extended to hours, as usual. ]
Laying on Minho’s bed, you’d both finished watching the final episode of a show that you binged on together, the laptop going into sleep mode since having been ditched after a while.
Minho laid down with his head in your lap, you sitting upright as you caressed his hair, something you loved to do and well who was Minho do deny his lover's affection when he admittedly loved it just as much, maybe even more.
"You know, I know I say you should be lucky to have me but honestly I got lucky having you."
He said randomly while looking at you, a gentle smile on his face and gaze shining with sincerity.
Even if it was quite a simple sentence, your heart still fluttered at the sincere tone and you too now had a small grin forming.
You hummed, now smiling at him, nodding as you pushed your fingers through his hair strands, gently patting them down as well.
"I meant it though. What I wrote in that…note." He said grinning up at you.
"Though I'm sad you didn't take me seriously at first." He slightly pouted to which you giggled at how offended his tone was.
"That's because you're an absolute idiot." You told biting your lip and just as he was about to protest, you leaned down and pecked his lips to shut him up, smiling at the way he complied so easily to you.
Moving back a bit, you whispered so tenderly as if the words should only be between you two.
"But you're still my idiot and I love you too."

you would bet on it? // min ho x reader
character: min ho
show: xo kitty
tags: frenemies to lovers, gender neutral reader, work place romance
warnings: maybe ooc?? i don't think so but yk, cursing, might have done some heavy self inserting oops
Kitty peaked around a corner, her head darting right and left before she proceeded down an alleyway.
It was just her luck that three boys were standing at a nearby building when they saw her sneaking around. Min ho raised a brow. “What on Earth is she doing?” His words caught Q and Dae’s attention, and they both turned around to watch.
“Maybe she’s just.. Meeting someone?” Dae chuckled nervously, trying to think of a perfectly logical and ethical reason Kitty was sneaking through an alleyway.
Min ho raised a brow. “Or buying drugs. We should follow her.”
Q shook his head, snickering lightly. “You just wanna follow her because you’re nosy.”
Min ho raised his hands in defense. “Sue me– Now let’s go.” He pivoted, going down the same alleway Kitty went down. Dae and Q shared a look before following him.
Kitty walked along for a while, much to two of the boys’ relief, exiting the alley after a short time and heading a way that was much more normal. She was acting oddly suspicious, though.
After some time, she arrived in front of…
A restaurant?
The three boys looked at each other with confused faces before continuing to the entrance.
Kitty walked inside, waiting up at the host stand for a second before you approached her with a grin. “Kitty! Good to see you, you can–” You paused immediately when spotting a very, very amused Min ho.
“You work at a restaurant, seriously?” He chuckled, raising a brow down at you.
Kitty whipped her head around, “Wh– Did you– You followed me?!”
Q and Dae quickly went in upon the realization that Min ho had blown their cover, Dae walking to the other side of Kitty. “We were just worried– You were acting really suspiciously–”
“We thought you could’ve been buying drugs.” Min ho grinned.
Kitty gawked at him. “What– That’s so stupid–”
You cleared your throat, crossing your arms. “What the hell are you guys doing here–” Before you could properly question the boys, you spotted your manager walking over. You blew out an irritated breath before putting on a fake smile. “How many in your party tonight?”
Min ho was loving this way too much. “Oh, just the four of us.” You so desperately wanted to wipe the smug look off of his face, but alas… You did value your job.
“Great!” You spoke through clenched teeth, grabbing four menus from behind you. “You can follow me right this way.” You took them to a section belonging to a server who had just arrived, so it was completely empty. After they sat down and you advertised your company’s rewards system with very red cheeks, your manager finally stopped watching you. Immediately upon their eyes being taken off of you, you exploded. “What the hell are you guys doing here?!”
“Kitty was acting weird. We swear we didn’t know she was coming here.” Q explained, chuckling nervously. He didn’t particularly like the idea of two of his best friends being upset with him over one of Min ho’s dumb ideas.
Min ho leaned back in his seat. “And I’m glad we did. Otherwise, we never would’ve learned of this little secret.” He motioned to your uniform, which caused your cheeks to go redder.
“Well, I’m sorry but not all of us can go through life completely supported by our ‘Mummy’s’.” You mimicked his accent toward the end, huffing. “Some of us actually have to support ourselves.”
Min ho rolled his eyes. “Right, like it’s so hard.”
You gawked at him. “Min ho, you would not survive a customer service job. Honestly, I would bet on it.”
This intrigued him, and he quickly leaned forward in his seat, turning to face you. “Oh, you would bet on it? Really?”
“Mhm. You would not survive in the restaurant industry.”
Min ho hummed. “Well, if you’re so confident, then let’s bet.”
“Fine. If I win?”
“I’ll do anything you ask of me. No objections.”
“Hm.. Okay. And if you win?”
“Same thing. Whatever I ask of you. Zero objections.”
Though you didn’t like the idea of Min ho being able to hold something over your head, you were confident enough that you felt comfortable despite the stakes. After a moment, you spoke. “Fine. Deal.”
Min ho grinned. “Deal. I’m looking forward to winning this bet.”
“In your dreams.” You rolled your eyes at him, backing away to finally allow the server to do their job. On your way out of the section, you caught Kitty who mouthed a “Sorry”. You shook your head, waving your hand at her in dismissal. Really, Kitty had done you a favor. Now you had the chance to one up Min ho.
After further discussion over text, you spoke to your manager about a friend who wanted to come in for an interview. Lucky for you, your shop was severely understaffed due to a mass of server’s quitting, so the manager didn’t hesitate to hire Min ho.
His first day was an absolute wreck.
He spilled a salsa bowl on him, which to anyone else would be a mere inconvenience, but to Min ho, it was the end of the world.
“I just bought these pants!! They're designer!!"
You shrugged. “It’s your own fault. Maybe you shouldn’t be so clumsy.” You were admittedly being hypocritical as you had broken and spilled your fair share of things on especially busy nights where you had to help.
“I hate you.”
You grew very familiar with those 3 words the more you worked with Min ho. His first few weeks, he let everything get to him. The customers, the messes, the way he smelled after work. Restaurant smell. You’d grown accustomed to it, so you hadn’t even considered that to be something that would’ve bothered him.
Much to your surprise though, he was very good at the customer service aspect. In some ways, it made sense. He had a way with acting charming, and he was fluent in Korean, which helped with the locals. He also only kept his complaints to when the two of you would be walking to the dorms together once you got off.
The thing that surprised you most, though, was how much you enjoyed spending time with him. You were used to server’s coming up and talking to you on slower days, the host stand often being a hangout place. You assumed Min ho picked up on it as he had suddenly begun hanging around there, too, when his section was deserted.
He waited for you after work. Even when he had been cut and could’ve gone home earlier. He excused it that you shouldn’t be walking alone at night. You didn’t really care about his motives, but you appreciated it. It was a nice gesture.
After 2 months, he still didn’t quit. You were beginning to worry he’d want to cash in his prize for the bet since it seemed like he had no intentions of losing. What would he make you do? The options were endless. You still had a slight hope that you could win but…
At the same time, you didn’t. You liked working with him more than you thought you would, it would be a little disappointing if he quit.
One night, though, his unwillingness to quit was really proven.
He had scheduled a date a few weeks in advance with some famous girl or something, you weren’t sure. But, he had also forgotten that he had a shift that same night.
He was up by the host stand, talking with you when he felt his phone buzz. He looked around to ensure your manager wasn’t near before he picked up.
“Hello?” After a few seconds his eyes widened. “That was tonight? Oh– I’m so sorry I must’ve forgotten, I–” He was cut off and a few more seconds passed where you heard muffled speaking through the phone. “I’m at work. Wait– Oh.” He said your restaurant’s address before he was hung up on. He blinked for a moment before putting his phone away.
You raised a brow. “What was that?”
He ran a hand through his hair. “I forgot I had a date tonight.”
“Oh. Well, if you need I’m sure one of the other servers could cover for you, I mean, even I can–”
“No!” You paused, blinking up at him. He shook his head. “No. What if we get busy? The dinner rush hasn’t even come in yet! I can’t desert you like that.”
You felt a blush creeping up your neck. He couldn’t desert you like that?
Before you could question his wording, a very pretty girl walked up to the two of you, clearing her throat. “Min ho, are you ready to go?”
The girl rolled her eyes, pulling out a small mirror and lip gloss. “Yeah, and? You don’t need a job, Min ho. We can just leave. It doesn’t matter.”
Min ho looked over. “What? I told you I was at work–”
He shook his head. “But it does. It’s a responsibility.”
The girl glanced at him before putting away her things, grinning. “Responsibility? When did you get so mature? It’s hot.. But seriously. Let’s go.”
Min ho groaned, a hand going over his face. “I already said–”
Before you could stop yourself, the words were already leaving your mouth. “I think he already said he wasn’t going.”
The girl looked at you, scoffing. “And you are?”
Min ho stepped in front of you, crossing his arms. “They’re my coworker and friend. Plus, they’re right. I told you I couldn’t go already.”
The girl clenched her fists before putting her hands on her hips. She stared at the two of you for a second before huffing. “Fine. Fine! I’ll leave. But I’m texting you later to reschedule.” She glared at you, then turned around, heading back out.
You looked between him and her figure, which disappeared into a car.
There’s one thing she said that you agreed with.
This new maturity was hot.
A few hours later, the two of you were walking back to the dorms together. You sighed dramatically. “Y’know what– Fine. Fine!”
He raised a brow. “What are you on about?”
“Fine, you win.” You stopped walking. “You win the bet.”
He stared at you for a second before his brows raised. “Oh. Right. That.”
“Don’t tell me you forgot.”
He shrugged, his hands going to his pockets. “I guess I did. But, hey. I told you I could do it.” His nonchalant expression turned into a grin.
You rolled your eyes. “Well..”
“Well?”
“What do you want? I agreed to do anything you wanted. No objections.”
He thought to himself for a second. “Hm… I’ll need to think on it.” He kept walking.
You gawked at him, whining and following him. “Min ho– That’s not fair! Now I’m gonna have to walk on eggshells!”
“Ooh well.”
The two of you continued your walk, and you continued to pester him to no avail. By the time you got home, Kitty had retreated to her room, so you went to yours. You got ready for bed, flopping down with a hum. You grabbed your phone off your bedside table when you saw a text from Min ho.
min ho: okay, i’ve made up my mind.
min ho: i want..
Min ho: a date.
Min ho: this friday. i’ll pick you up at 6.
Wait.

Kitty had thought that Yuri was drop-dead gorgeous from the moment she met her. She had felt her heart pound heavily that night at Min Ho's party, before she dreamed of all their tension and the release that kissing her red-lipsticked candy lips would provide. She thought it as they danced together at the talent show, butterfly wings fluttering in her stomach as they moved their fans like Luna moths rather than monarchs.
But none of that had prepared her for this.
Min Ho sat on the floor of her new dorm room, tossing pop rocks at her and rambling about his mom's new movie. "Oh, Min Ho," she said. "You do not want to start throwing candy at me."
"But... I do," he said. "I know you stole my buckwheat hand cream." He shrugged. "Just admit it. And you can make all this," he threw another pop rock at her, "stop."
"Mmm," Kitty hummed, "no. A little extra cleaning later isn't worth admitting to something that I definitely didn't do." Her voice was filled with false bravado; they both knew that she was in fact guilty.
"I'll dump them over your head if need be," Min Ho said.
"Sure you will. It's your way of saying, 'I'm glad you stayed, Kitty. I'm so happy you weren't expelled because-"
She cut herself off.
She had to.
Because the most beautiful girl ever had walked into the room.
Yuri wore a pink cardigan, eye-grabbing and soft. Her sweater paws covered her hands, showing nothing but the bright blue nails that matched her undershirt. She was a rainbow...
And Kitty felt her suck in a breath.
Because...
Her hair.
Her hair, that was so soft to touch, was... well, different.
Instead of long locks, she now had luscious layers. The bottom cut off at her shoulders, framing her strong chin and bringing out the hardness of her jawline while still accentuating the softness of her cheeks.
It suited her.
Oh, how it suited her.
And how Kitty's face was warming as Min Ho looked from Kitty to Yuri and back again. They stared at each other for a moment, and Kitty smiled brightly as Yuri walked over to her.
"Hey," she said. Her winged eyeliner was sharp, but the corners of her eyes were crinkled as she smiled that odd little half-smirk that Kitty had imagined so often over their school break. That smile that Kitty had anticipated seeing again every time she closed her eyes.
"Hey," she said back, and Yuri shoved her hands into her cardigan pockets. "You look..."
"Awkward?"
"No," Yuri replied. "I was going to say 'well.'"
"Oh... yeah." Kitty nodded, feeling like an idiot. "I am. Well, I mean."
Yuri raised an eyebrow. "Why are you looking at me like that?"
"Oh," Kitty said, scrambling for a reason. God, her cheeks burned. Her stomach fluttered. "I was just thinking... your hair."
"I know," Yuri rolled her eyes. "It's a mess."
"At least you know it," Min Ho chimed in, and Kitty and Yuri glared at him in unison.
"No," Kitty said. Then, in a quieter voice, "I was going to say that it looked..." Exquisite. Gorgeous. Luscious. Adorable. Sexy. "Good," she concluded lamely. "It looks good."
"Mmmm, thanks," Yuri said. "But not much of a compliment, as I look good in anything."
"Yeah," Kitty said. "You do."
"You're being weird," Yuri said. "Why are you being weird?"
"I'm not," Kitty protested.
"Yes. You are," Minho interjected. "Then again, when are you not?"
"Hey." Kitty held a hand up at Min Ho. "I prefer quirky."
"That feels more accurate," Yuri said. "But your quirks are cute, yeah?"
Cute. Cute. Cute. She thinks I'm cute.
It means nothing. You're friends. The next generation.
So Kitty forced herself to smile. "Thanks," she said.
"Now come on," Yuri said impatiently. "Let's go get some lunch. I bet you're dying for some Kimchee after weeks of nothing but bland American food."
"It's not bland."
Min Ho laughed. "It definitely is. I've had baked chicken."
Yuri nodded sadly. "It hurts to agree with Min Ho, but yeah. Here, Come with me." She grabbed Kitty's arm and started to lead her out the door, and Kitty's arm felt electric everywhere that they made contact.
It means nothing, Kitty reminded herself again.
And she walked out of the room arm-in-arm with her friend. The one that she was in love with.
She didn't even care if she came back to a bed full of pop rocks, because she was here.
She was home. With her friends. With the ever-present phantom hands of her mother stroking her hair and laughing in the breeze.
And that was enough.

Hi! If you take fanfic requests I was wondering if you could write something for me. So I was wondering perhaps if you would write a fanfiction (a short one) based off a prompt. But it can be whatever you feel you writing or whatever fandom your in the mood for writing. Anyways the prompt is... spraying whipped cream on the other's nose and kissing it off. It's a okay if you aren't taking requests or in the mood to write this I just thought it was a fun idea and I wanted to share it with ya! <3
Here's the link to where the prompt is from
"Minho, what are you doing?" Kitty asked with an eyeroll as her boyfriend was playing with the whipped cream bottle. All of a sudden, he sprayed some on her nose. The redhead mock gasped, trying to swipe the can away from him and failing.
Minho kissed the whipped cream off of Kitty's nose and kissed her softly. Right then she swiped it from him, spraying it into his nose. He mock gasped, "Oh, I'm gonna get you for that!" Kitty giggled and ran off, making Minho chase after her.

Current obsession: the new K-pop group BOYNEXTDOOR, Speak Now (Taylor's Version) that's about to come out, the Barbie (2023) movie, writing 'XO Kitty' drabbles and fanfiction, eating mango
Currently reading: just finished another year of uni, so i'm currently avoiding books lol

I was tagged by both @onlygenxhere and @claire8216 so thanks for that!
Last song: Girl’s Not Grey by AFI
Currently watching: Literally just finished the season finale of Silo and adfgl;kjhadfglkjdfg. but also weekly episodes of Nancy Drew and Netflix binging Doom at Your Service
Current obsession: um. if we are talking about like. gremlin brain won’t let me not constantly look it up, there are two board/card game kickstarters that i’m thinking about backing and i keep checking to see how they are doing. if we want the more media-centric fandom version, still haven’t found anything that has made me go as hard as jatp.
Currently reading: kinda rereading the Circle of Magic series by Tamora Pierce. and random fic that my brain will allow. but honestly, reading anything has been really tricky lately.

—love countdown
min ho x gn!reader
genre: the lightest angst, fluff
wc: 2.2k
synopsis: minho’s party brought to light a few things.
a/n: thank you for all the love on part 1 ! As of right now there are no plans for a part 3 but if something comes to me it’s possible!
The days after the interaction with Minho, you avoided him at all costs. You still hung out around their dorm, but always checked with someone if he was there. Both you and Kitty had an eventful chuseok and were always asking for advice and to rant to Q.
Today was the same as the other days, you invited your brother and kitty out for coffee.
“Kitty, I love you but can we please talk about something else?” Q said, sipping on his coffee. She let out a huff and turned to you.
“So, what’s going on between you & Minho?” she said slyly, giving you a knowing glance.
“There is nothing going on between me and him. I’d prefer to not talk about it.”
Both Q and Kitty could immediately tell that something had happened, but you were too stubborn to say anything.
Feeling the air grow stale, Q brought up something he had hoped would lift your spirits.
“Have you guys decided what you’re wearing to Minho’s party?”
You glared at him, he was so oblivious sometimes.
“No, I’m not going.”
“Me either, he hates me plus Dae’s going to be there.”
Q sighed.
“Come on, you really wanna spend a Friday night inside?”
You and Kitty glanced at each other before nodding your heads.
“I think it’s a perfect day for a movie night don’t you think Kitty?”
“Why you’re absolutely correct, Yn! We should look at our watchlists and make a spinner for it!”
“That sounds like a great idea!”
Q just watched the two of you act this out, half amused.
“Are you guys really going to let Minho, Dae & Yuri ruin your fun?”
“It’s Minho’s party, he probably doesn’t even want me there.”
“You never know if you don’t go. Please?” Q held your hand and you rolled your eyes.
You hated when he acted all cute, he knew that you’d eventually cave and say yes.
“Fine. But only if you help me look for an outfit.”
“Deal. I’ll text Florian to come with us. Kitty?”
Kitty smiled at the two of you, a look of determination crossing her features.
“I’m going too. I’ll prove to Dae I’m over him!”
Both you and Q stared at each other, knowing that was far from Kitty’s truth.
—
Minho’s date with Lulu had gone just okay. She was great, but his mind seemed to be somewhere else the entire night. He couldn’t get it out of his mind the way you stared at him, and the way he almost kissed you.
If you guys had kissed how would you have reacted? He wasn’t sure if you even remotely felt how he did. Hell, he wasn’t even sure how he felt about you. He had always just seen you as annoying, but deep down he knew he saw other things in you. It frustrated the hell out of him feeling this way, and with you acting all strange afterwards, it made him more frustrated.
He had thrown himself into the planning of the party, not even knowing if you had decided to go.
He had gone to Q, pretty much asking him in a roundabout way if you were going with him.
Q had just said some skeptical things, and didn’t clarify anything for Minho. He sighed, and shook his head, trying to figure out the last finishing touches of his outfit.
—
The music was blaring from the speakers and you were already regretting this. Out of the two of you, Q seemed to be the more extroverted one. You enjoyed going out from time to time, but you also loved your space. The music was so loud that you could hear it from outside. The bouncer was letting everyone in from a list, and you weren’t even sure if you were on there.
Did Minho even want you at his party?
You and Kitty finally made your way inside, looking for Q and Florian. Kitty looked stunning, and she really seemed to glow with confidence. You felt comfortable in your outfit, having had Florian and Q have the last say so.
Your shoes were slightly uncomfortable, since they were brand new. You cursed yourself for choosing the new ones instead of your trusty going out shoes, but everyone argued that they matched better.
Minho was sitting with Dae at the bar, happy his friend showed up. They were chatting away, when he saw two people pass by him, both standing out. He excused himself from Dae & walked in their direction, stopping in his tracks when it saw it was Kitty and you.
Kitty looked great and he was surprised she could clean up nicely, but you. You made him speechless. You looked amazing, and also so relaxed. He saw you laugh at something Kitty had said, and he saw the way your eyes lit up when Q found you both.
He wanted to go up and sweep you away from everyone, to tell you how great you looked and how happy he was that you were there.
You had been eyeing the entire club, finally making eye contact with Minho.
Both of you felt as if time stopped for a moment, just the two of you staring at each other, a sense of yearning in the air. You quickly looked away, a faint heat felt on your cheeks.
You reached up and touched your cheek, catching the attention of Florian. He smirked at you, knowing that if he looked in the direction you were staring at a few seconds ago, he would see Minho.
Florian and Q escorted the two of you to the bar, getting you both mocktails. You knew underage drinking was frowned upon heavily in Korea, but had done it in the comfort of your dorm before.
Kitty thought that your drinks had alcohol, slightly surprised when Q told her that they were alcohol-free. Florian quickly remedied that, pulling a flask out and pouring some clear alcohol in all of your drinks.
You all clinked your glasses together, your heart feeling lighter with the presence of the people around you.
—
An hour had gone by, and you had lost track of where Kitty had gone. She could very obviously not hold her liquor, and at this moment neither could you. You found yourself in the lounge, your eyes focused on your cosmopolitan.
You knew you were possibly drunk, but you didn’t really care. The past hour was pretty much spent babysitting Kitty, making sure that she stayed away from Dae, who much to your surprise showed up. You knew this wasn’t his scene, and when you saw Yuri in the crowd dancing with her friends, put two and two together. They came on a “date”, but at least seemed to be having fun together.
Q and Florian had snuck away somewhere wanting some alone time. The very thought of your brother having alone time with his boyfriend made you wanna gag. They were super cute together, and you really were happy that he was happy. You couldn’t help but be jealous, you wanted that.
You sighed, not noticing someone sat next to you.
“Tired?”
You turned to the owner of the voice, seeing one of your classmates sitting next to you.
Jace was an expat like you, coming from England. He was a year older than you, but shared the same chemistry class with you. He was Alex’s TA, and you would strike up conversations with him about topics whenever he looked super bored.
You smiled at him, nodding.
“Tired. Don’t you just hate it when you’re the only one who’s like, alone? alone… a, lone… that’s a funny word.”
Jace had an amused look on his face, letting out a laugh. It was so obvious you were tipsy, the slight slurring of your words making him laugh.
“I do hate it sometimes, but sometimes you just gotta think there’s someone out there for you.”
You leaned in close to his face, evidently unaware of all the personal space bubble rules you were breaking.
“Do you think there’s someone out there for me?”
Jace’s eyes scanned your face trying to figure out what he should say.
“I think so.”
You hummed, nodding your head. You pulled back from his personal space, content with his answer.
Jace held your hand that was next to his, intertwining your fingers together.
“Has anyone told you that you look stunning tonight?”
You gave him a lopsided grin.
“Only tonight? You don’t think I look stunning in our very attractive uniforms?”
He laughed, and shook his head.
“You look good everyday.”
“You’re such a charmer.”
“Is there anything wrong in me telling the person I like that they’re attractive?”
You felt your heart stop for a moment, at his very sudden confession.
“Jace, I didn’t know-“
He smiled at you, gently squeezing your hand.
“I didn’t expect you to. Plus I figured I didn’t have a chance with Minho interested in you as well.”
Minho. You had tried so hard not to think about him all day, and the mention of his name made your stomach turn.
“Minho does not like me, and there’s nothing going on between us.”
That last part of the sentence made your heart ache, but you were too far gone to want to notice it. Minho was someone who you wanted, but didn’t want you. As much as that hurt, you had someone in front of you who did like you.
Jace brushed some of your stray hairs behind your ear, and his hand hovered over your face.
“Would it be alright if I kissed you?”
“Okay.” you whispered to him.
You both inched closer, nearly kissing when a clearing of the throat made the two of you jump.
You both turned your heads and saw Minho standing there.
He had a very neutral look on his face, but his eyes were telling a different story.
“Oh hey, man. What’s up?” Jace said, the slight annoyance in his tone noticeable.
Minho had a tight lipped smile at the two of you.
“If you’ll excuse me, I have to take Yn to their brother. It’s very urgent.”
You got up, albeit a bit wobbly, and gave Jace a sympathetic look.
“I’m sorry, maybe we’ll catch up later?”
“Yeah no worries, go see what happened. You know where to find me.”
Minho rolled his eyes, his jaw clenched.
You made your way over to him, and Minho took you by the hand and led you away.
—
It took you all of two seconds to realize Minho had lied to both you and Jace about Q needing you.
“Minho, where are we going?”
You were met with silence.
You both finally made it to a secluded area of the club, which you assumed was the VIP lounge.
Minho finally dropped your hand and ran his hand over his face. He stepped away from you, clearly trying to create some space between the two of you.
“Minho?”
He sighed and looked at you, clearly annoyed.
“What were you doing before I got there?”
“I was talking with Jace.”
He let out a humorless laugh.
“If that’s talking, I must be the president of Korea.”
You didn’t understand where this was coming from.
“What does it matter to you? My business is my business.”
“It matters.”
“You’re deflecting. What does it matter that I was talking with a guy?”
“Because.”
You were getting frustrated with him now, the alcohol in your system making it too difficult to have any sort of conversation without showing your true feelings.
“Minho, we’re talking in circles. My love life, my friendships don’t pertain to you. I can talk to whoever I want to talk to. Obviously since you can’t tell me why it matters to you then it doesn’t mean anything.”
You blinked and before you knew it, his arm was wrapped around your waist, pulling you flush to his chest.
“Minho?”
He stared into your eyes, hesitant on what he would say.
“It matters because I like you.”
Before you could say anything, he leaned down and pressed a soft kiss onto your lips.
When he broke apart from you, he rested his forehead on yours.
“Who you talk to matters to me, because I like you.”
“Minho… I like you too.”
He smiled and kissed you again, making your heart swell with happiness. He peppered your face with kisses, and you laughed, not ever having seen this softer side of him.
—
Some time had passed, you both migrated to the couch.
“So.”
“So what?”
“Can I take you on a date?”
You nodded and kissed his cheek.
“I’d like that very much.”
The music outside of the room stopped, and the both of you looked at each other confused. You checked your phone, and saw that Q had texted you that Professor Lee and Principal Han had found out about the party and were currently breaking up the party.
You quickly got up and grabbed Minho’s hand, sprinting to the doors, as quick as you could.
A bunch of your classmates were also running, and Minho caught on pretty quickly to what was happening. You both ran out of the club, making it a few blocks away from it until you both ran out of breath.
You guys had made it to a nearby night market, and you texted Q that you were alright.
Minho grabbed your phone out of your hands, and put it in his suit pocket.
You looked at him confused and he just smiled at you.
“So, how about that date?”

rile you up | lee Minho (xo kitty)
You’re Minho’s latest form of entertainment and he cannot just get enough of riling you up.
Genre: romcom, slice of life, school!au, minho is a little dick
———
“Fuck you, Minho.”
“What a ray of sunshine you are on this fine day.”
You grit your teeth together, almost grind them to nothing, and repeat the words with even more conviction, “I said fuck you.”
”Watch that tongue sunshine, might fall out if you’re not careful,” Minho’s grin just widens at the way your eyes have narrowed into slights. If looks could kill, he would’ve been shot int he head twice, revived, and shot once again. But thankfully for him, your narrow-eyed stare is nothing scarier than a cute kitten ready to take her claws out.
It’s a boring, rainy and muddy Wednesday afternoon and you really don’t want to be here, in English Lit, listening to professor Lau drone on and on about love and friendship in the verses of Lord Byron’s poems and how, if you read in-between the lines and analyze the intonations, the words, the onomatopieas, you’ll find a much deeper definition of Lord Byron’s feelings.
And Minho sitting right beside you is not making it much easier.
“You’ve got a pimple growing on your left cheek,” Minho squints at your face as you turn away, cupping your face with your hands as your eyes find the lock tick, tick, ticking at the far end of the classroom. Thirty more minutes of this torture.
“Can you just stop hyper-analyzing me like I’m some kind of lab rat?I’m really not in the mood for this right now.” You snap back.
“Woah,” Minho sighs before he shakes his head, “you really did wake up on the wrong side of the bed today.”
“And you, my friend, need to mind your own business.”
“Minho and Y/N.”
Professor Lau’s voice causes both of them to wince, physically, before looking up to see the said old man with bespectacled glasses, the book of poems in his hand and his eyebrows raised as though he expected better.
If you’re being honest, you really do enjoy Professor Lau’s classes, normally. Normally.
But not today. Today, you’re having a completely off day. You woke up late, you couldn’t sleep at all last night, and all the coffee had run out by the time you’d made it to campus. Your grades are suffering and you’re currently trying to ploughing through all the assignments without drowning.
And the worst of it all, you miss home.
You miss your mom. You miss your family, your brother with whom you would fight with at every occasion and play Mario kart with. You missed your grandma, your aunts, the food they cooked, the shared laughter, the smiles…
You’re in so deep in your thought process that you haven’t even registered that Professor Lau is telling you off until he calls for your name that brings you back to attention.
“—yes?” Your eyes flit up to Professor Lau’s and a wave of emotion suddenly takes its toll on you. You try hard to blink back the sudden burn of tears at the corner of your eyes, crawling up your throat.
“I was expecting better of your behaviour, miss Y/N,” he says, pointedly looking between you and Minho with pursed lips, “in my office after class. You’re up for cleaning duty.”
Great. That’s exactly what you need. After everything.
Fucking. Great.
———
“These pretty hands cannot clean,” these are Minho’s first words as the rest of the class files out to leave you two alone on cleaning duty and as you had predicted, there are papers all over the place, test papers and pens and pencils, “I’ve taken care of my hands all these years. I am not ruining it just to clean a classroom.”
“You are so freaking dramatic,” you roll your eyes, standing up to find the cleaning supplies that are stacked at the back of the class, in the storage closet, “let’s just get this over with and we can both move on with our lives and I won’t have to see you again for the rest of this week.”
“What’s up your arse, dude?” Minho follows you, one hand leaning on the doorframe as you start pulling out the duster, the cleaning rags and the shiny new broom that Professor Lau is currently obsessed with, “you’ve been acting really weird.”
“What?” You scoff, proceeding to hand him the broom because you know he’s never going to be the one on his hands and knees cleaning the floors, “I’m not. I’m just tired.”
“No, you’ve been acting off all week. You’re all snappy, your dark circles are so prominent you look like a walking zombie and you keep asking me to go fuck myself,” Minho rolls his eyes, “also, how do you use this?”
“Jesus chri—“ you make a move towards him, grabbing the hand holding the broom while struggling to circle his back and grabbing the other, “you keep that thing steady, then you brush the dirt from this one—“ you grip his hand and shuffle it over the floor in a sweeping motion, “until it goes into the pan. Got it?”
It's only then you realize the warmth emanating from Minho's back. If you move a little closer, you could press your cheek against him. He smells like something citrus and fresh mint and man.
Somehow, it makes goosebumps explode all over your skin. You step back abruptly, noting the heat searing through your palms where you had touched him just as he turns to face you, "you seem to be a natural at this. Why don't you do it?"
"I'm gonna take care of the floors," you're glad for the distraction that comes in the form of the rag, for there's a knot of heat in the middle of your chest and you're not quite sure how to deal with it, "let's just get this over with."
There's a long moment of silence as both of you focus on your tasks, which helps to calm down your nerves. Somehow, the sound of Minho's brush is conforting to hear.
Until he speaks up, "so you're gonna tell me what's wrong?"
"Why should I tell you, of all people?"
"Because there's nobody else around and seeing you all mopey makes me actually feel bad for you."
You wipe off the dusty corner by the teacher's desk, "Do you have any ounce of decency in you somewhere?"
"Not when you're involved," Minho snickers.
You whip around, throw the balled-up rag at him and smirk in satiafaction when it hits him square in the head, "ow--what the fuck, Y/N?!"
Glad that you managed to piss him off, you turn and continue, "oops sorry. My hand slipped."
It's not ultimately Minho's fault that you're more anxious, more easily irritated than usual. So you can't really take it out on him. But he doesn't make it any easier either.
Thankfully, the rest of the cleanup goes smoothly as butter and he parts ways with the excuse that he needs to go find his aupposed lunch date, to which you merely rolles your eyes and headed for the dining hall alone.
It doesn't normally bother you to be alone. On the contrary, you relish in those silent moments of freedom without having to hear an earful from Kitty and Q, or having Yuri complain about yet another one of her life's family miseries.
But as you find a vacant seat by the door, you can't help but suddenly feel a little small in a room full of people who seem to be right where they should be. And something in your heart constricts and clenches so hard it causes a soft sob to die at the back of your throat.
You grip your spoon a little tighter and bite down so hard on your lip that you feel the tangy taste of blood.
It feels lonely.
------
You're kind of sick.
Not physically sick.
Just sick of hearing christmas carols ringing all over campus. Sick of smelling hot chocolate in the air, sick of seeing luggages being dragged on vacation.
Sick of being here.
For an international student, returning home for Christmas was never an option. The airplane ticket is too expensive for your familt to afford, and you wouldn't ever impose that on them. But if you had to admit to that selfish part of you; you wished you were privileged enough to get to fly out at every chance you got.
Alas, that is not the kind of life that you live.
So when the doorbell rings at seven-thirty in the morning on Christmas Eve, you're more than surprised to find none other than Minho standing by your door with his hands in his pockets.
"Wh--Yeah? What do you want?" You frown upon noticing the lack of luggage behind him. Knowing Minho, he packed like a diva.
He hums and peeks inside your flat, causing you to shuffle into his peripheral vision, "what do you want Minho?"
"You're not packed."
"Wise observation, smartass."
He brushes past you and strides inside, taking his shoes off casually by the door, "why not?"
"None of your business."
He throws you an exasperated look, "you gonna keep being like this?"
"I don't know, are you gonna keep annoying the hell out of me?"
He can't help the grin that spreads over his face at that, "you're fun to mess around with."
"Well for your information, it's not fun. Not for me," you don't hesitate to walk over before grabbing onto his arm and tugging over to the door, "really. I'm fine. Now leave."
"I'm surprised you're not going home for Christmas," he continues as you're pushing him out of the door.
It stings, "why?"
"International kids usually do," he folds his arms, proceeds to lean into the open doorway and you got another whiff of his scent, "what? Daddy didn't want to pay for you this time?"
"My dad died. Two years ago."
There's surprise first, that flashes through his eyes. Then realization slowly dawns.
There’s some kind of weight in your chest. Like your heart has just broke.
"What?" You laugh but it's dry and twisted, "cat got your tongue? Too shocked to speak? Poor little Y/N, who doesn't have a father to pay off her credit card bills, right?"
"I didn't know--"
"Of course you didn't. You never asked."
"I'm--" he swallows, looks away, "—sorry."
You scoff, "don't. It's okay. I've been over it for the past two years."
It's not what he says but rather the way he looks at you that makes your insides shrivel up with dread and fear and the idea that he'll never look at you the same way ever again.
Because the thing is, no matter how much Mjnjo teases you, bullies you into oblivion, you do enjoy the attention, the banter. It's almost as if it's better than just being ignored altogether.
And amidst all his teasing and his annoying personaity, there are bite and smidges of Minho's kindness smattered in-between, flecks of tenderness that makes your heart soar, your brrath
To have such a man look down at you, pity you, makes you want to be sick.
"Y/N--" you cut him off before he can even try to make it up to you, "it's fine, Minho. Just drop it--"
"Wha--I said I was sorry, don't give me that look--"
"I said drop it!" You swerve around on him, anger bubbling from deep within your chest as blood pulses through, rushes through you, "for one goddamn second, can you just leave me alone?! I don’t need this—this constant bullying of your part! It’s tiring and it’s just so goddamn frustrating and humiliating so will you just stop?!”
The shocked silence that follows your sudden outburst is heavy. If the tension had been thick before, it’s now so hard you can barely cut it with a knife. You try to regulate your staccato breaths, try not to let your body take over your mind as you focus on breathing in, breathing out, breathing in. Breathing out. Just like that.
Calm. Like water. Like you’re a river that never stops.
“Just go, Minho,” your words are bitter. You can barely look his way, an overwhelming surge of irritation, guilt and hurt swimming through you.
Thankfully, the young man seems just as surprised as you are and leaves without even a backward glance. That’s when you finally cave in and allow your legs to crumble to your floor. Pressing your head against the door, your body instantly gives into the sadness that crumbles through you like used up tissue, soaking in all the tears that are suddenly cascading down your cheeks without restraint.
You cry yourself to sleep that night.
———
“Minho, I’m really sorry about my behaviour.”
You stare.
Your reflection stares back.
Shit. This doesn’t feel right. You close your eyes, exhale a soft breath, and open them once more only to find a set of familiar brown eyes gazing back at you.
It’s just the day after Christmas and though the majority of your friends were still off campus, you’re well aware that a certain Korean young man has decidedly stayed back because of his mother’s offshoot shooting commercial.
However, you still hadn’t gotten the guts to go back and ask him for a formal apology yet. Did you even need one when he’d been the one prodding you with a stick like he would with a nest of aggressive bees?
Oh well. You decided you’d be the bigger person and make the first move. As always.
So you look back to your reflection with renewed determination, take a deep breath before forcing the words out, “I am really sorry for my shitty behaviour, Minho, I should’ve—no,” you shake your head, start again and clasp your hands together for good measure, “I’m really sorry if I offended you in any way, I was hurt—no. God. I sound so pathetic.” You can’t help but curse at the mirror.
Inhale. Exhale. Deep breath. And you try once more, this time adding a small smile.
“I’m really sorry for everything that I said. I was being a bit insensitive and wasn’t in the right headspace—“ you break off with a frustrated snarl, “god! Why is it so hard to apologize to the dude?!”
“The dude’s standing right here.”
Shocked, you swivel around only to find none other than the said question in person leaning against your doorway, eyebrows raised and a semblance of a smirk lining his lips.
“M—Minho,” you feel like slapping yourself for sounding like a stuttering goldfish. Quickly, your hands smooth down your sweater, hiding them in the big bell sleeves as your eyes find everything — anything, to get off his face, “what—what are you doing here?”
“I was looking for you, actually.”
“Why?”
You’re still not looking, deciding that the faint crack in your dorm room is much more interesting.
Minho’s footsteps approach as he strides close, close enough that you get a whiff of his expensive cologne and restrain yourself from sighing out loud.
The bastard smells too good, you feel like crying.
“Why?” He scoffs, “isn’t it obvious?”
“Not really.”
“Alright. Fine,” you’re still not looking at him, which is why you almost jump out of your skin the moment you feel the gentlest graze of his fingertips at your jaw.
“Wha—“ you stutter, eyes flashing up to his on instinct.
Dark brown meets swirls of maroon. You almost lose your breath.
In the mid-morning light with sunshine falling over half of his face, Minho looks like he’d just walked out of some fashion magazine.
“What are you…doing?” You manage to murmur out. Barely.
It’s hard to concentrate when he’s right there, in your personal space, looking a little too dashing for his own good.
“You’re right. I was being a selfish dick to you two days ago,” his grip on your chin is firm, his dark eyes even firmer, “so I’m sorry if you took it the wrong way.”
You laugh, “wait—is Minho actually apologizing? To me?”
“Don’t get used to it.”
“But this is a legendary moment,” you fake a mocking gasp at him, “I should record this right now.”
“Don’t make me regret it, Y/N.”
Chuckling, your eyes crinkle up as you allow yourself to roam over his features, “okay okay, I’ll stop.”
Minho fidgets and doesn’t say anything back. Weird, considering that he has a comeback for everything. You feel his hand drop from your chin as he takes a step back, lips pressed together and face looking like he’s uncomfortable being here.
Do you make him uncomfortable? It’s not a sight you’re used to seeing. Something tugs at your heartstrings but you try and ignore it.
“What is it?” You ask instead.
“There is…” his eyes dart away, “something I need to tell you.”
“About?”
His hand drops. Instantly, cold swoops in.
“About me. And you.”
You squint, “Minho I swear, if this is one of your stupid jokes again—“
“I like you.”
You blink.
He gazes back. His eyes. They’re gazing straight at you. Focused. Intense. Hot.
So hot it causes a flame to burst in your chest.
Wait…your mind backtracks, what?
“You—“ your mouth opens. Closes. Opens once more, "I'm sorry--what?"
His eyes answer in his stead. Dark orbs swirling with a depth that makes your skin explode in goosebumps. You realize, all too soon, how close you are, how -- if you want -- you can diminish the space between just with one single step forward.
"I like you," he says it honestly. Somehow, you relish in the way he says it. Clear and transparent. No inside games, no beating around the bush, "maybe more than a little."
You sense a but. "And?"
He rolls his eyes, "and maybe I just don't know how to show it."
"You mean, acting like a five year old boy who bullies his crush for fun because he likes her?"
"Something like that."
"Okay," you drag out the word in hopes that it will hide the way your heart suddenly skips a beat, the way your legs feel weaker at the knees, "so what--what now?"
"Well, that's the part where you tell me you like me back--" Minho catches himself upon seeing you raise a brow at him, "--or not. Your choice, your rules, doll."
Doll? You can feel the flame bursting through your chest and squeezing your heart. It aches so much it hurts, though it seems that your smile can't help tugging at the corners of your lips as you watch him and despite his seeming nonchalance about the whole matter, there's the slightest sheen of pink that gives him away.
Cute. Your brain chants.
"Well," you tilt your chin up in what you hope is a confident manner, "you normally take a girl out to dinner first."
"Is that a yes?" Minho smirks.
"Did you hear what I said?"
"Yes, yes I heard alright. Fine," he sighs and crosses his arms over his chest, "tomorrow night. Dinner. Be ready by six. I'll pick you up."
"Tomorrow? But wait I--"
"You better be there, doll."
And with that, he swivels on his feet and walk away while whistling a soft tune, leaving your heart flooded with a tide of mixed emotions that erupt through your chest and butterflies running along your skin.
---
Minho: I'll come pick you up by six. Be ready then. Wear something cute but casual. Nothing fancy.
Y/N: i like how you're telling me how to dress up when you're the one who's supposes to be wooing me.
Minho: oh you don't have to worry about that.
The way he replies so smoothly has goosebumps running along the back of your neck and you squeeze your hands into fists. You're still sitting on your bed, trying to digest all this new information as another flurry of messages burst through your phone, probably fron Kitty's latest reaction your news.
Kitty: what?! Minho?! And you?! He asked you out?!!! Omg how did I not see this coming!!!
Y/N: i thought you were a matchmaker.
Kitty: well YEAH before he went and ruined it!!! Anyway, what are you WEARING?!
Y/N: i have absolutely no idea. He said something cute but casual, so I'm guessing there's not gonna be any fancy dinners or anything.
Kitty: omg!! Minho and casual doesn't sound right. Maybe he really is trying to woo you!!
Y/N: should I wear shorts? Pants? A skirt?
Kitty: definitely no pants. Maybe that cute skater skirt you wore to Yuri's party last semester?
So you do. The skirt's baby blue colour contrasts well with the simple white tshirt you decided to wear with it, and throwing on a beige cardigan and some white sneakers complete the look. You add a small blue bow into your hair to match, and take one last look at yourself in hopes that you're looking exactly how Minho wants you to--
No. That's the wrong way to go about it. Minho likes you. Yes. You. Not the girls he's always so uses to seeing. You don't have to impress him.
That’s how you meet him right outside your door, with your newly-found resolve as you catch the simple white tee and ripped jeans, hair styled just the way he likes it, just enough to make every woman’s heart swoon.
His eyes do a once-over, “not bad, Y/N. You clean up nice.”
“Not bad?” You scoff, “I’m sure there are much better adjectives to use.”
He grins, “we’ll see.”
Minho brings you over to the Han river by electric scooter, with you standing in front and holding on to the handlebars as he guides you across the street even though it’s technically illegal for people to do such a thing. But with the wind in your hair and Minho’s warmth at your back, you don’t find yourself complaining.
“Han river?” You raise a brow at him as he parks and pays for his e-scooter ride, “really? So cliche.”
“The Han River is a classic,” he looks at you pointedly, “and I’ll have you know, I’ve never brought anyone here before.”
“Ooh, does that mean anything?” You wriggle your brows and he scoffs, looks away, “shut up.”
You weren’t expecting him, of all people, to be a fan of romantic gestures such as this. But when he parks his scooter in favor of walking alongside you by the trail — even with his multiple complaints about the dirt being too dirty and people needing to revisit their wardrobe fashion — you can’t help but wonder how much effort he’s putting into just being with you. Because knowing Minho, walking on crushed grass and having his shoes in dirt is quite a big deal.
“Look, do you want to be swooned or not?” He replies when you ask him the question, even looks offended that you’d dared ask such a thing, “I thought girls loved it when boys brought them here.”
“Yes I know that,” your grin is so wide that you’re surprised it hasn’t broken your face in two yet, “and don’t get me wrong. I love it, but I never thought you—of all people — would bring me here, of all places. It’s just not…”
“Not what?” He scowls.
“Just not you,” you confess, and then, seeing that his frown seems to take a permanent fixture on his face, you quickly add, “so the fact that you’re doing it…thanks. It means…something. You know?”
Heat springs through your cheeks at the sudden confession and you quickly look away, anywhere, but not before glancing at Minho to see that he has a faint smile dancing across his lips.
As the evening wears on, you get to talk about everything and anything; from worries about your future and the rigorous routine of adult life, about which game box is better and which restaurant serves the best korean noodles, which Minho argues does not exist, considering that every single noodle joint in Seoul is a pro in making them.
"We're the city of noodles and gimbap, obviously there's more than one good noodle stop."
"You speak like someone who hasn't tasted Uncle Cha's food yet. You know, the snack from across the road to campus."
Minho's nose wrinkles, "nah I'm good--"
"Oh no you don't," you grab onto his arm before he has a chance to run away, "nu-uh. Let's go get them right now, actually."
Surprisingly awed by Cha's cuisine, Minho has no other choice than to grumble out a faint agreement. It's no secret that it makes your day.
"But the environment--" Minho shudders, "I think I saw a cockcroach scuttling about in there."
“Oh yeah,” you let your eyes follow the wall and trail back up to him, pointing at his face, “there’s one.”
Shoving you playfully, he pulls out his tongue in such a childish manner you can’t help but burst out laughing.
You decide to take the walk back along the Han River even if it makes a detour, stopping by a coffee shop to grab some hot chocolate. The city lights now illuminate the city like stars scraping the earth’s surface and you can’t help but feel amazed by how beautiful the scenery is, with the wind trickling through your hair and soft music from busking sessions in the background.
“I’ve never actually walked along the Han River before,” you confess to him as you gaze down at the black waters sloshing against the river edge, “thanks, Minho.”
He has the look of a satisfied five year old child who got a gold star for his best behaviour, “you’re welcome.”
“Who knew you’d be the one to bring me here?” You jostle his shoulder playfully before taking a sip of your hot chocolate.
“What’s that you’re implying?” He frowns.
“That you’ve surprised me and my expectations.”
“And that’s supposed to be a compliment?” He looks horrified and dramatic, “you’re harsh, Y/N. I’ll have you know, I haven’t—“ he stops himself just in time for you to swoop in and push, “yeah? You haven’t what?”
“Nevermind,” he sips his own drink and you notice the way his ears have turned red.
You giggle, “tell me, have you gone on dates before?”
“Wha—of course I have! What kind of question is that?!” You keep on laughing and laughing at his face, shaking your head as you try and muffle your chuckles the best you can, “oh god—oh my god, you never have. It’s written all over your face—“
“You talk too much,” he mutters into his drink and turns away from you, ears as red as a fire engine.
You nudge him, smiling, loving that side of him that he’s never really shown anyone before. Because you all know the cool, confident Minho. But this, this side of Minho is uncharted territory.
And you’re all here for it.
“Why not, though?”
His eyes narrow as he looks back at you, “what?”
“Why haven’t you brought anyone out before?’ You fidget with your cup, glad that it’s warming your hands so you can busy yourself with something, “because I’ve seen you, with different types of girls. All the time—“
“Yeah that didn’t mean anything.”
“But you still went out with them.”
“Is that jealousy I hear in your voice?”
“What?” Heat flushes through you, “no, I just—“
That’s when you feel it. His hand, fluttering up to yours. He pries your hold from your cup gently before bringing it down between you, fingers entangling with yours like they’re meant to be there in the first place.
And when your eyes flutter to lock onto his, there’s liquid warmth in those pools of brown, a tenderness you’ve seldom seen before.
“This is new too,” he murmurs then, “all of this.”
Your heart skips a beat. There are no words to be said.
You swallow thickly, look away, and don’t miss the soft chuckle that falls from his lips as he keeps swinging your hands back and forth between you, his smile a permanent fixture on his face. One that your lips mirror faintly as you keep walking back towards your dorms in comforting silence.
———
“Was that romantic enough for you?”
Minho’s question is met with a chuckle from your part as you finally reach your dormitory. A few stray students are still studying deep into the night, some already asleep on the deep blue couches in the common room as you make your way through, hands still entertained from earlier.
Your heart has been skipping and rollerblading into ecstasy ever since.
“Hmm,” you hum, even tilting your head in thought, “guess so. Though if I had any complaints—“
“You wouldn’t tell me, because there aren’t any,” Minho finishes for you, “right?”
“Oh i have plenty, but I’ll keep it for another time,” you flash him a mischievous smile. You’ve reached your corridor by that time, your words causing Minho to shoot you a suggestive look.
“another time?” He repeats with a cock of his brow.
You bite your lip and look away to avoid the fact that there’s a faint, yet growing smile on your face, “yeah. Maybe.”
The said young man’s lips pulls into a small smile, “I can work with that.” He murmurs, and something warm pools in the middle of your chest.
It’s hard to control yourself around Minho especially when he’s not being a little shit. Because the fact is; he’s very enticingly charming and likable.
“Well, that’s me,” you’ve reached your door then, glad that for once your dorm room is free of activity since both your roommates have gone home for the Christmas season, and turn towards Minho.
“Thanks you, for tonight,” your cheeks are warm with heat but you can’t resist grinning up at him, “I had more fun than expected.”
Minho sucks in a dramatic breath, “wow. I think i finally got a compliment out of your mouth.”
“Trust me, that’s me being nice.”
“I know,” he flashes a grin at you and before you know it, his arm has gone up to press against the doorway, caging you in and suddenly making you feel smaller than you are already. His body heat rolls into you in waves, the scent of his boyish cologne making you dizzy as your body leans into him unconsciously.
“So,” he breathes. He’s so close, so close that if you move just a little, your noses would brush, “since I’ve taken you out on a date, do I get to kiss you now?”
Air stills in your lungs. Your teeth find your lower lip.
“It depends,” your whisper is so soft he barely catches it, too enthralled by the way your mouth curves and moves with the words, “will you take me out again?”
“If her highness wishes,” Minho chuckles, tilting his head so that your noses brush. Electricity zaps through your body, goosebumps raising at the back of your neck, “I’ll take you wherever you want.”
Your eyes lock. There’s warmth, want. Desire swimming through his own pools of brown.
“Sounds like a promise,” you breathe, “so when will that—“
“Y/N.”
The way he says your name has a knot tightening in your stomach. Your body tenses in anticipation.
He’s gazing at you as if he’s only just seeing you. His lips are so close, you can feel his breaths on your lips. Hot against cold. He smells divine.
You’re so lost in your own daydream that you respond a few seconds late, “y-yeah?”
“Do me a favor?”
One hand cradles your cheek. You freeze.
“Hm?”
“Stop talking.”
And before you can do anything else, his mouth presses against yours.
Fireworks explode. Behind your eyelids. Through your body. Blood races and your brain goes fuzzy with want and desire as Minho’s other hand wraps around your waist to tug you in, his other hand clasping your jaw firmly as he kisses you. Once. Twice. He’s a good kisser, yet so gentle and tentative.
You’re taken by surprise for a few seconds, before you finally melt into him and kiss him back. A sigh escapes you as your hands go up to wrap around his neck, and the groan of satisfaction he lets out makes your entire nerves buzz with delight.
Tilting his head to the side to kiss you deeper, longer, you let out a gasp against his mouth as he pulls you even closer still, as if he can’t get enough of you. You haven’t realized you’re pressed to the door until your back meets the hard wood underneath and you yelp softly at the way his tongue swipes over your bottom lip to ask for entrance.
He kisses you softly, yet so firmly as if you’re the only thing keeping him alive, satiated. His hand at your hip moves up, tracing the back of your spine, the side of your rib cage before brushing against the corner of your bra and making you squirm while your hands curl into his hair. You tug, causing a grumble to echo out of Minho’s chest. His tongue darts in and you part for him like melted butter so that he can kiss you and ravage you without restraint.
Everything falls away, with only Minho being your anchor. You smell him, feel him against you, and want nothing else other than the dizzying rush that makes your stomach erupt with fireflies.
Your mouths part with a pop and he takes this chance to nip at your jaw, littering kisses down your neck before suckling on a soft patch of skin. Your body reacts instantly, curving into him as your lips part in a soft, minuscule moan. That’s enough to snap him back to attention.
He gazes up at you, chest heaving and all heavy breaths. His lips are swollen and red and just so beautiful. Hair tousled like he’s just tumbled out of bed and you quickly decide that’s the look you love best on him.
The curfew bell sounds and he curses.
“Minho,” you murmur when he leans in, noses brushing to capture your lips into his once more. You sigh, eyes falling shut as he takes your next set of words away.
It’s almost as if he’s drunk on you, as if he just can’t get enough.
The thought makes you shiver. Your heart swells with emotion.
“Minho,” you murmur once more against his lips. He groans, pulls away onto to bury his face into your neck and humming, “yeah?”
“Curfew’s in two minutes.”
“I know,” he’s pressing open-mouthed kisses over your collarbone and you can’t help but whimper and cradling his head closer to you despite trying to make sense of your thoughts.
“Y—You should go,” you stutter out but it’s almost like you’re talking to yourself. He’s clearly in his own world, suckling onto your skin and leaving purple marks to claim you as his. He pulls away, groaning appreciatively at the sight you make.
“Do I really have to go?” His dark eyes — darker than you’ve ever seen them — flickers over your features. There’s a kind of hunger to them that makes you shiver.
“Yes,” you stammer out, heart almost bursting out of your chest when the boy merely tugs you close before he rests his head atop yours. He holds you, breaths you in, and your eyes close on their own accord, taking in the moment like it’s the last.
“I’ll see you in the morning,” his whisper grazes the shell of your ear and you shiver. He pulls back and there’s the kind of crooked smile that makes your heart tighten, “goodnight, Y/N.”
“Good night, Minho,” you murmur and dropping a last kiss atop your temple, you watch him walk away, raising a salute with his hand as he does so.

A Wish Fulfilled
A/N: I’m sorry if this is full of errors, I am far too exhausted to keep my eyes open for another second longer 😅 I also have a (very long, very angsty, very lovely) fic which is almost complete and that I will be adding to The Enys Chronicles tomorrow, stayed tuned! 💗 For now, I hope you enjoy this wee drabble, friends! xo
~~~~~~~~~~~~
The November rain pattered off the window of Dwight Enys’ study, whispering its wintery secrets. The frosty afternoon and incessant rainfall, however, was no match for the loving warmth of the room itself.
“Dear little Isabella is very sweet, is she not?” Caroline rhetorically asked her husband, carefully studying his concentrated features as he examined his appointment diary at his desk.
The Enyses had returned from a visit to Nampara barely an hour ago. Caroline and Demelza had hoped to have a civilised cream tea with their husbands and catch up on each other’s news as they had barely seen each other all month with Ross’ tasks taking him all over Britain - and Dwight and Caroline themselves had been in London for over a fortnight. The ladies’ plan was foiled the moment the Enyses walked into the house, as Clowance and Jeremy immediately dragged their uncle Dwight into the game they were playing with their father and youngest sibling. Ross had devised a new game of hide-and-seek, one which involved a chase, whomever managed to find and hold baby Bella before the seeker caught them was the winner. And so the ladies had sipped their tea alone at the table, raised voices exchanging pleasantries, their teacups hiding their smiles as they fought to maintain their put-out pretences.
Dr Enys’ features softened as he thought of the newest member of the Poldark family, whom he had assisted into this world two months ago. “She is lovely,” agreed Dwight, his tone soft; there was something about babies that was so inexplicably comforting to him - perhaps it was their enchanting innocence. And with large blue eyes like her mother and wisps of dark brown curls like her father, Isabella-Rose was most definitely enchanting.
“Just think, Dr Enys, the next child you deliver could be your own,” Caroline hinted, smothering a smile from the armchair Dwight had installed for her in his study.
The doctor let out a soft chuckle as he continued to write in his diary. “God willing, my love,” he murmured, glancing at her before taking a piece of parchment and beginning a letter of correspondence to Dr Pinel, with whom Dwight had worked closely during and after his time in France these past few months.
Caroline hummed, now grinning mischievously from behind her book. She discarded the novel, schooled her grin and stood up, moving to casually rest against Dwight’s mahogany desk, her hands clasped against the edge of the table as she stood next to him. Caroline pointedly stared at the doctor, a small smile on her face as she placed her hand on his shoulder. Dwight’s eyes met her own and he returned her tender smile, his hand momentarily resting on top of his wife’s.
Caroline huffed quietly as he resumed writing; how could one so intelligent be so stupid when it came to picking up hints? “Well, pray check your diary and see that you be free for such an occasion around May.”
“May?” Dwight repeated absently with a small chuckle, his quill still scratching the parchment as he noted down possible treatments of psychosis. “But it is already November-“ A dawning realisation stole the end of his sentence and ruined his neat script as his hand slackened in surprise.
Satisfied that the news had sunk in, Caroline smiled smugly: smug that she had managed to hide her condition from him and surprise him. But most of all, Caroline was smug that she - that they both - had not allowed life’s greatest hardship to snatch away any future happiness.
Dwight rose from his seat and stood opposite his wife, simply running his eyes over her, his gaze clinical and disbelieving, hopeful and uncertain.
Caroline pulled anxiously on her fingers; it was not often cool, calm and collected Dr Enys was rendered speechless. “My love?” she asked, her eyes searching his. “Are you alright?”
“Alright?” Dwight softly repeated. He laughed and shook his head; never had there been such an understatement. “My darling, I am so ecstatic I am quite afraid to move for fear this is all a dream.” Even in the muted winter light, Caroline could see that his eyes were filled with tears.
Caroline then felt her own eyes prick with tears, a surge of relief and happiness filling her being. “Fear not,” she murmured, carefully taking her entranced husband’s hand and pressing it carefully against her abdomen; a small, but readily detectable, curve was present.
A beaming smile stretched across Dwight’s face; it was truly no dream, it was a wish no longer.
Caroline closed her eyes in anticipation of a kiss but instead felt her body jolt forwards and upwards as Dwight lifted her from her waist and spun her around like a madman. “Dwight!” she gasped, shrieking and laughing as the room spun around her, her feet brushing the curtains, bookshelves flying past her gaze.
Grinning like a fool, Dwight put her down and stumbled, dizzy from the action but more so from Caroline’s news. Just as he was about to lean in and kiss her, the doctor within him bubbled to the surface and drowned out the expectant father. It had taken them a long while to come to expect, and it was certainly not for want of trying. “You must have at least one strengthening tonics a day,” Dr Enys ordered, his mind whirring as he thought of the ingredients he would need, “It will be good for both you and the child.” The child! A child! Their child!
Caroline rolled her eyes gently; they both knew she would be drinking no tonics unless Dwight poured them into her slackened mouth while she slept. “Dwight.”
Dr Enys held up a finger. “My love, I’m afraid I must insist.” He leaned over the ruined piece of parchment on his desk and dipped a quill in ink. “Have you any sickness? I can prescribe something depending on its severity. Are you feeling alright now?” He glanced at her; she didn’t look pale. She looked beautiful and happy and radiant.
“Dwight.”
“Of course some exercise every day is important,” Dwight continued. “Not too much, though,” he warned, now very much babbling. “A walk around the gardens shall do fine. We can walk together after some supper,” he offered as he continued scribbling things on a piece of parchment, his brain going a mile a minute. “Hmm,” Dwight then said, turning and narrowing his eyes at the bleak day. “But only if the rain stops, lest you catch a chill.” He felt a gentle hand on his back.
“Dwight.” Caroline was smiling now.
“May, you say, my love?” Dwight double-checked, unable to prevent another smile forming on his handsome features. “Well, if you wish to return to London then we must go soon because you will not be in suitable condition for such a long journey come March or February,” he told her, continuing to scribble on a piece of parchment, his hand trembling with excitement. “Oh, and-”
“Dwight!” yelled Caroline, flicking his bicep and grinning with impatience.
Dwight’s head snapped around to look at her, his blue eyes were round in surprise. “What?”
“Dr Enys, I wonder, could you be persuaded to stop worrying for long enough to give your wife a well-earned kiss?” Caroline asked, her tone teasing and flirtatious.
With a slightly guilty smile, Dr Enys dropped his utensil and straightened his spine before quickly closing the distance between them. He smiled softly as he brushed his hand against the barely detectable swell of her abdomen. “I think that can be arranged,” he purred as he placed his hands on either side of her face and kissing her deeply.
Caroline’s arms went about his neck as she deepened the kiss, not a single beam of light passing between them as they embraced.
Dwight paused thoughtfully as he broke their kiss; he wondered if anyone else knew. Did Demelza know, or suspect? Did Ross know? Well, they would know within the hour, he would ride there and share the news himself, it simply could not wait. He must also write to the Blameys, Sam and Rosina, Kitty and little James, his only living aunt, George, Caroline’s aunt...
Caroline’s mouth swished from side to side to contain her smile and imprison a laugh at her husband’s predictability. “Good Lord, Dr Enys, I can practically hear the quill on the paper already. At the risk of not being clear, you may not write to every single acquaintance that pops into your head to inform them of our news. We shall tell the Poldarks and the Carnes at dinner on Sunday over some of Demelza’s delicious pie and any other bodies who happen to hear of our news may do so then, but only once our dearest friends are aware,” she warned without heat, wagging her index finger at him.
Dwight barked out a laugh, which echoed throughout the study and floated down the long corridor. “Must you always read my mind?” he wondered, smiling, as he tucked a stray curl behind her ear.
Placing both her hands on his shoulders, Caroline pressed a kiss to his mouth. “I suppose it is the consequence of our abiding love for each other, or something to that effect,” she teased, though her eyes were soft and shining.
Dwight smiled softly and kissed her again. And again. “Or something to that effect,” he murmured against her lips.
