You’d learned more in eighteen months than you had in over eighteen years of formal education.

The first lesson came on your second morning alone: hotteok tastes better when it’s made for you. Even if the cook gets distracted by the background music they themselves are generating. Even if the edges are crispier than they should be, and the centers are a bit gooey, or there’s pre-packaged mix dusting over your previously clean countertops. Even if that hotteok is cold by the time you stop kissing and start eating, you know now that few things in life are sweeter.

He is, of course, but the point still stands.

Showers, you’d learned, are colder when you take them alone. This was a surprise you grappled with for weeks and a confounding reality you still struggle to square. A scientific mystery, then and now.

All of the hot water was yours — exclusively — to use as you pleased. You didn’t have to scramble, soap-covered and squealing, for the prime spot under the shower head. Cold air didn’t nip at your damp skin when you lost territory because you didn’t have to compete for any in the first place. Still, without whole-chested laughter to echo off the walls, not much existed to separate your body from cold porcelain.

The absence of personal space isn’t something you intend to ever take for granted again.

Of all the things you’d realized in your uncharacteristically quiet apartment, one thing hit a little harder:

Love looks different every day.

Sometimes, it comes at an odd angle. It’s spending all thirty minutes of a daily allowance with a phone propped against a faucet. It’s staring up at someone’s chin, watching fondly as they brush their teeth, and smiling when they remember — without being told — to put the cap back on the toothpaste.

Other times, it looks like an Excel spreadsheet of pop culture news, fastidiously collected and organized so that no groundbreaking celebrity gossip goes unreported. It’s incredulous eyes and a scandalized mouth hanging open, interjecting occasionally with, “Wa, jinjja?”

Every now and then, it looks like handwritten letters with thick, black redactions applied after the fact with a far heavier hand. Though you couldn’t tell where in the Republic they came from, you knew — without question — that government censorship does not apply to hastily doodled hearts.

Today, however, love doesn’t look like much of anything because its hands are covering your eyes.

It sounds like clean spoons clattering back into the dishwasher you’d been emptying, entirely unaware that the door down the hall had opened and shut out of earshot. It smells like army-issued shampoo and Thai milk tea from that little spot near the train station, where surprise journeys home occur two days ahead of schedule. And it feels like the ground shifting beneath your fluffy house slippers; the Earth now back on its axis and ready to resume spinning like it should.

Tonight, love will taste like hotteok for dinner — and you won’t have to make it yourself.

you know how i think it happened,

one day, jimin was chillin with his pet snake and then it was like “did u know there are these huge ass pipes going up and down this castle they lead to this weird ass bathroom with a statue of ur great great great great granddad on it”

Makin’ Magic Names!

I’ve noticed before how interesting the Magic Town townie names are, so I wanted to make a list. At first I found them by seeing who popped up in-game, but @2spooky4blue mentioned there’s a way to find them in the game files. I saw the file Live.iff, opened it in IFF Pencil and lo and behold there’s all the Magic Town names! So thanks to that file I found every single name, rather than lucky passerby while playing.

The names get pretty interesting. A lot are suitable witch names (obviously), but there’s also quite a few that could fit medieval sims. Even some old school goth sounding names, or just edgy & alternative, like Rot. Also some are just downright strange, like Thog? lol

Being an American right now is so fucked up. Like hi I'm living my life. I'm gay. I'm doing great. My government is trying to take away my human rights. I can vote but it might not do anything because of gerrymandering. Sometimes people here deliberately spread deadly viruses because Freedom. We're told this is the best country in the world. I can't escape. I don't want to leave. I want to escape. I love the land itself. The government is like five steps from actively trying to kill me. We have brand new lawmakers who better understand the will of the people. The highest court in the nation is rigged to side with fascists. I'm graduating soon and I have an incredible life ahead of me. My planet is dying.

A better picture of Xessi with a more in character expression. She is a sweet old lady, but she has a spine of steel. Don't mistake her soft smile and kind mannerisms for an easy mark. She didn't get on the captain's council by baking cookies.

so this little old lady is a character of mine that was a background person in an RP but I liked so much I hung onto. Xessi is a nearly life long resident of Lions Arch, Having built her various businesses from the ground up. She is best known for being the Madam of the finest brothel in Lions Arch. The Saphire. She employs those who want to be there, and helps those who come into the profession out of desperation find other work that better suits them through her network of contacts. . Her employees have protection and healthcare and are paid well. But in business with her various shipping ventures and trading businesses as well she is Ruthless. She joined the Captain’s Council after the Sapphire (her primary business) took off and she was able to buy her seat in Lions arch tradition. She has been on of the longest standing members of the council at this point.

Day 14: its Rez! So I just got back later yesterday from Vancouver FanExpo, and well, I fell behind because I had no time to draw while dressing like a plastic spaceman for charity. So prompts have gone out the window for the moment. Have Rezzak, who is Xessi's son and occasionally is a bouncer at her establishment when he is not out at sea as a adventurous acquisitionist.
