In addition to finchs xephian post i was thinking about wwwwhatever they call strife and rythian yesterday because i think they could be interesting. Im imagining now rythian bouncing between both relationships and realizing everything is very unfortunate and he has bad taste

is xephna technically rare pair? it was when I was into it since there was no art for sooo long. if not then xephrythna maybe? not sure what counts

To me xephna is less rare and more underrated? but that might just be because of different fandom experiences -shrugs- Personally its not my favourite lalna ship, that award goes to nanocoffee which i looved as a teen, but ive grown to like xephna more recently! Even if i personally dont think its a rarepair i wrote my thoughts down :]

Lalna wears his heart on his sleeve, Xephos is full of secrets, You would think this would cause problems but makes things easy for them. Lalna doesnt ask Xephos about how fucked up he is, and Xephos doesnt need to guess how Lalna is doing. No mind games, just honesty. Of course, if this is Yoglabs!xephos we're taling about, then mind games are a necessity

To me their relationship is friendly banter and passionate nights and knowing things about the world that no one else does. Its tripping over eachothers tools and getting into eachothers spaces and being a pest but you cant quite live without it... well Xephos cant. Lalna is his comfort mad scientist, his silly rabbit, his good time boy. After all this time, he can always talk to Lalna.

About most things, anyway. Dont worry about it.

At first, Lalna just thought Xephos was fascinating scientifically. He's more of an engineer...wizard...science guy than a biologist, but still! As someone who feels things deeply, Lalna would be the first to confess his love for xephos. Who in response panicked a little, but once the nerves wore off happily returned the feeling.

Xephrthna

the e in that name is doing a LOT of heavy lifting joking aside I like both Xephian and Rythna for different reasons and combining them is v inchresting!!

Xephos finding the dramatic wizard baffling at first, and Rythian finding Xephos neurotic and high-strung attitude abraisive. But then something... weird happens. They end up running into eachother when in an open mood, and get to chatting, and find that they have a lot in common. A friendship blossoms from there, and eventually into something more. Xephos is upfront with Rythian that he's "kind of dating someone else but we have an open thing going on" before anything happens, and rythian doesnt mind it. But he doesnt tell rythian who the other person is, and rythian never asks. He assumes its honeydew, or prehaps someone he doesnt know. Xephos is fine not talking about it, enjoying their one on one company.

Rythian teaching xephos magic, getting frustrated when he gets distracted, but then xephos calls him "a brilliant wizard" and he decides to forget his anger.

If you throw lalna in the mix i feel like it would. pardon me. explode.

I have this idea of pre-nuke (the tekkit server one, the OG war) Lalna and Rythian being aquainted but dont quite know eachother, then everything goes to shit and rythian blames lalna but thats about it. Like theres no deeper beef than that... until Lalna nukes the base BUT DONT WORRYABOUT IT.

Things begin to cool, while Lalna does enjoy yanking rythian around, he decides one day to approach him peacefully, wanting to make ammends. Rythian, naturally and rightfully suspicous, asks why and Lalna only says

"A friend asked me to" Suprisingly this works, at least enough for Xephos to finally feel comfortable enough to tell Rythian that the other guy he's seeing was actually rythians long time rival - Lalna

Rythian is uh. mad. and it takes a while for him to warm up to Xephos again, but he cares for him, and decides to try and make it work. He and Lalna are awkward for a while. But one day when Xephos leaves the two of them while on an errand, they get into a fight that ends with one hell of a makeout session, and more. Xephos comes home to a messy house and bedroom, with a passed out rythian sleeping across Lalnas bare chest. Lalna waves to xephos, Xephos is quite happy that thats been sorted.

Xephos kinda becomes the mediator for tension between Lalna and Rythian. They're still working out shit, a LOT of old anger there, but both want Xephos to be happy, so they'll do anything for him.

favorite thing about them: i just really like tekkit era xeph,,,, his dynamic with lal and honeydew has such a good vibe and tbh the found family energy is off the charts i just,,,,,,,, man. love them.

least favorite thing about them: everything that happened in yoglabs

favorite line: i can’t think of any specific lines but literally everything that ensued during the little maids episode and that one episode of jaffa factory where he works for sips is. literally hilarious. also the galacticraft yoglabs ep when simon’s like “can i have some oxygen im running low” and he goes “fuck you here’s a moon buggy” and then acts surprised when simon starts suffocating

random headcanon: OK OK OK i yelled abt this on discord once but now it’s permanently embedded into my brain that xephos starts calling lal “my lalna” as a joke like ahaha there’s so many of you how will i keep track but eventually it’s just a genuinely sweet thing that xephos likes calling him and lalna calls him a sappy idiot but it does make him melt a bit and xeph knows it.

unpopular opinion: people are like really angst heavy when it comes to yoglabs? like don’t get me wrong it makes me sad and i will absolutely talk angst with you but if there’s no recovery what is the point

“Stop being so cute.” Rythian said, poking Xephos in the cheek.

The man chuckled and sigh dramtically, pressing into Rythian’s chest. The two had been laying on his couch for quite sometime, listening to indie music and watching some bad television. It was the perfect end to a perfect day.

“You love it when I’m cute.” Xephos chuckled, kissing his bare neck. His scarf was over towards the side, having no purpose now that they were home alone.

Rythian chuckled. “You’re right. I do like it.” He leaned down and kissed Xephos affectionately, nuzzling their noses together afterwards.

A few years ago, if you were to tell Rythian he’d be this happy with his mortal enemy’s best friend, he wouldn’t have ever believed you. But now, holding his lover against his chest and combing his fingers through his dark hait, he realizes this was the best decision he’s ever made.

Xephos had a degree in physics, but his old friend, Simon Honeydew, had asked him to help him with his new bakery, Jaffa Inc. So Xephos did the finances and helped baked with him. He also happened to be his old arch-nemesis best friend and old college buddy.

Rythian, on the other hand, worked at a tattoo shop and was a spray paint artist. He had only visited the little bakery a few times for various reasons, but the moment he and Xephos’ eyes locked, he was over the moon and in love.

While Simon and Lalna never really approved of the relationship, Xephos continued to visit him, even getting a small tattoo just to meet and talk to him for a few hours. He loved Xephos more than anything in the world, and nothing would change that.

Their quiet moment was soon interrupted by a phone buzzing. Xephos groaned and reached for his phone. “…It’s Simon. I told him I was taking the day off.” He sighed.

“Don’t answer, then.” Rythian shrugged.

Xephos sighed and crawled off of his boyfriend. “Sorry, Ryth. I gotta take this.” Rythian sighed and sat up, watching Xephos take the phone call.

“Hello? …Simon, I’m not coming in right now. Wait, what? Slow down, I can’t understand you!” Xephos took a long pause, his expression getting more and more worried. “Simon- Okay, okay! I’ll be right over.” He sighed. “Yes, okay. See you.”

Xephos looked back at Rythian with a sad expression. “I…I have to go. Simon said something about Sips’ place across the street, mentioned a robbery? I dunno, but it sounded pretty bad. I’m really, really sorry, Ryth.”

Rythian sighed, his heart heavy. “It’s fine. Do you need a ride over?”

Xephos nodded. “I’m really sorry, I’ll make it up to you, I promise.”

Rythian took his hand and pulled him close. “Hey, I said it was fine.”

The brunette kissed him gently. “We can swing by McDonald’s once I’m finished up, okay?”

Rythian smiled and grabbed his scarf. “I thought you hated McDonalds.”

His sapphire-eyed lover smiled up at him as he grabbed his helmet. “Don’t worry about it, you like it and it’s fast and cheap. You know Simon doesn’t pay me that much.”

The tattoo artist smiled and wrapped his srm around his boyfriend’s waist. “Fair enough.” He grinned, kissing his forehead.

THE RESULTS ARE IN!! Now for my very intellectual observations

1. Honeyphos

I knew from the beginning that Honeyphos would win, all the other votes combined barely surpass it (50% or 56% if you count ‘other’) So my hypothesis so to speak was confirmed.

I’m most surprised that Striphos was so low, I thought Strife x Xephos was much more prominent, yet it tied for last place. Contrarily I am not surprised Xephmadia was also in last place, being the singular straight ship in the gay fandom.

Pleasantly surprised that Xephna got 19% at 2nd place, but that’s a personal win XD

I am still very very curious what people who voted ‘other.’ I saw a tag that said they didn’t really ship Xephos with anyone which is why they chose that, and I liked that answer a lot. Other people who chose other, was that also why you chose that answer? Or are there some secret crack shippers out there who don’t wish to be identified? /j

I kinda covered Xephian in my xephrthna but I contain multiple ideas for the same ship and offer you: Protective Rythian increasingly worried about his boyfriends obsession with this labratory. Trying his best to be supportive while being distrustful of science and labs. Helping him with the magical research the facility dabbles in, but being at a loss otherwise. Watching as Xephos becomes unreachable. He's still there, he talks to rythian, but he looks past him, lost in thought, half present in most conversations. Theres parts of the facility he's forbidden to enter. "for safety reasons" Xephos insisted, but Rythians knows he's lying. he knows something more is going on, but desperately needs Xephos to tell him first, to be vulnerable. To trust that he wont run away from whatever it is Xephos has done.
