i think it's the "diversity in slavic countries looks different than in the us" part that people don't get? like because diversity isn't such a buzz word here (what even is the russian equivalent lol) people immediately think of it in american terms and forget that russia is ethnically diverse as fuck

ugh we have a long way to go. even in russian media the majority is ethnically russian, and everything is focused on moscow and saint petersburg. and even if we made an effort to include more minorities, there’d be push back. and that’s why we should do it. but you’re right! russia is diverse as fuck! but we only talk about it when we can benefit from it, in public forums and such, ‘there’re more than 100 languages spoken in russia’ and ‘братских народов союз вековой’. time to actually include ethnic minorities in the media! not even talking about lgbt....
