also love the idea of their kids asking Xander to dance except he's Not Laslow and canonically can't dance, so he just has them stand on his feet and he awkwardly shuffles around the room with them

This time, he woke up as Inigo of the indigo skies.

At first his mind was blank, vacant of all thoughts alike. Everything stalled but resurfaced as the gears in his mind turned again. It took another moment before he regained his bearings and recollections of who he was.

And this happened quite often. Occasionally, he would catch glimpses of himself in a mirror, feeling like an alien in his own body despite it belonging to him. It was difficult trying to separate which memories were from Nohr or Ylisse or even from Valla. Most days were a murky, undefined dream. Yet he held fast onto miniscule details like a ragged cliff, a deep ravine, or a brush of blue sky. Other days, his memories did not seem to belong to him.

Gradually, Inigo flexed his hand. He rested in a cot inside his tent. Warm sunlight found its way through a small gap, blinding him momentarily. Once he regained mobility in his hand, he noticed a band of silver on his finger.

It was a ring. His mother’s wedding ring.

As he moved to sit up, his ring reflected onto the walls of the tent and he remembered which life he was holding onto now.

  This time, he woke up as Laslow, retainer of Nohr’s crown prince.

Laslow stirred, ever so gently. Someone had drawn back the mahogany curtains, allowing sunlight to settle across his face. He wondered if it was intentional or not, but the light wasn’t blinding. It was a rather pleasant, soft glow. He felt safe and warm nestled between the sheets.

Slowly, he rose. Sheets slipped off his chest and bundled around his hips. Laslow rubbed his eyes and noticed a figure sitting quietly at a rosewood table, writing in a brisk manner with a plumed pen. Before he called out to the figure, a flash of silver caught his eye. On the opposite hand held another ring. A silver band that wreathed a light blue stone in the center, signifying an oath only their lips whispered softly of.

Laslow smiled, admiring the craftsmanship and the way light glinted off of it. It was dazzling, shimmering, ethereal almost. When Laslow asked why the prince chose an azure stone, Xander smiled and said it reminded him of their first encounter.

He, Laslow, appeared seemingly from nowhere. Before Xander received word of Laslow’s appearance in court, he was in his study, finishing a report just when his father’s messenger was sent to fetch him. As he prepared to leave his room, Xander glanced at the window and saw a clear, cerulean sky. Seldom did Nohr have beautiful skies, but today—that day felt like an omen.

And this same sky was reminiscent of the gemstone’s color.
