It has been more than 20 years since BtVS. I think we've grown; we've matured; we have moved past the need for a bloody ship war... so can we please 🥺 do a little bit of a ship war but like... just for fun?

The really frustrating thing about the scene in Buffy The Vampire Slayer where Xander encourages Buffy to take Riley back is that in theory it's actually a really good character moment for Xander. It should be a very effective sign of character development that he's moved on from Buffy and matured past jealousy to the extent of actually encouraging Buffy to pursue a relationship with someone else. Xander's advice helping him realize that he hasn't properly expressed his love for Anya is also great and the scene where he tells Anya how much he loves her is actually really sweet and well written despite all the problems surrounding it, but everything that makes this plot line work from Xander's perspective is undermined by how in this specific context Xander is giving really shitty advice and Buffy shouldn't actually take Riley back.

BTVS brainrot has set in I keep imagining a scene in s7 like the one in Friends where Monica roasted everyone on Thanksgiving, but it’s Giles getting fed up with everyone and Xander says something like “We’re sick of all your quiet judgement!” and Giles goes “Oh, you want loud judgement? (to Willow) Magic junkie, (to Faith) convicted felon, (to Spike) neutered serial killer, (to Anya) left at the altar by XANDER, (to Buffy and Xander) demon shaggers, (to Dawn) klepto ball of light!”
