I just want to hug my high school self so much. Man, this past year with Vkei (visual kei) has been difficult. I mean first Atsushi Sakurai then what a week later, Heath from X Japan passed, and now Reita from The GazettE. Like, I don’t know how much more of my musician’s that helped shape me into the person that I am today passing away I can take…

HEATH, beloved bassist of X JAPAN, has passed away at 55
Tumblr media
The music world has been struck with somber news as it came to light that HEATH, the bassist for the legendary rock band X JAPAN, has passed away. At 55 years old, his death was unexpected and has left fans and fellow musicians in a state of mourning. The tragic revelation surfaced through investigative efforts by the publication "Women Seven."
X JAPAN's leader, YOSHIKI, conveyed his grief through social media on November 3, accompanied by a photograph in mourning attire. His sudden return to Japan, canceling all scheduled commitments, including an 'Award of Honor' ceremony in the United States, was an emergency driven by this unforeseen bereavement. His journey led him to a certain facility in Shinjuku, Tokyo, where he faced HEATH in silence, bidding a final, wordless farewell.
Close acquaintances of HEATH unveiled that he had been battling ill health since the beginning of the year. A medical consultation revealed cancer, which was unfortunately found at an advanced stage. By late October, only a short time after the discovery, HEATH had succumbed to the illness. The rapid progression of his cancer left no time to inform even his bandmates of his condition or the ensuing battle.
Despite various issues that led to X JAPAN's inactivity since 2018, including internal strife among members, it was HEATH, as sources close to him recount, who held onto the hope of reuniting the band until his very last moments.
The upcoming issue of "Women Seven," releasing on Thursday, November 9, will delve deeper into HEATH's role as an irreplaceable figure within X JAPAN, his relationship with the members, the current estrangement between YOSHIKI and Toshl, and what the future holds for X JAPAN in the wake of HEATH's absence.
HEATH's departure is not just the loss of a band member but the fading of a dream for many loyal fans who had hoped to see X JAPAN together once more. His legacy will undoubtedly continue to resonate through the music of X JAPAN and the hearts of those who supported them throughout the years.

It has been reported that Hiroshi Morie, known more commonly by his stage name "HEATH," has suddenly passed away at the age of 55.
He is best known as the bass guitarist for the J-Rock band, X Japan.
What a tragic loss, and may he rest in peace. In commemoration, I'd like to post one of his songs, "Meikyuu no Lovers," which was used as the second ending theme to Detective Conan, which I find is an underrated gem among the many songs the anime features.
A fun fact about this ending theme specifically is that, for years, along with the second opening theme, it was never really shown outside of Japan, likely due to licensing issues with the songs. Whenever international broadcasts got to the episodes that originally used those songs, they would instead repeat the first opening and ending themes. It wasn't until the remastered high-definition version of the original anime started streaming on Crunchyroll and Netflix in 2021, that these credits were available for viewers outside of Japan to see officially for the first time.

HIDE Inspiration Talk 50 (# 19 - 20) - Translation
Demo Tape
When I was still in my indie days myself, I collected demo tapes of Japanese indie bands. From Osaka’s Veil, to Anthem [metal band, founded 1981, disbanded during the 90 but reunited and is still active] to Sabbrabels [metal band, 1980 – 87, reunited in 2015 and again in 2019, still active], and also a lot of punk bands. I loved indie-tapes. There was an event called Music Seminar in New York where several bands were playing music at a livehouse for 24 hours, and having only just debuted, we went there as well. At that time, there was a really cool band, and I wanted their tape at all cost, so I went to their dressing room and managed to get it. Now, come to think of it, that band had been Biohazard [Punk/Metal band from New York, 1987 – 2005], when they were still completely unknown. I remember how there was no one else coming for them. But, I never made any demo tapes myself. Saver Tiger didn’t make any, nor did X after I joined. I collected tapes like that, but I didn’t create any.
Christmas
Christmas is a merry time when people want to be merry all over the world. My ideal Christmas comes with a meticulously planned date. If you’re going to celebrate anyway, you better go over the top (laughs). In the past, there was a short period when Yoshiki was not seen in public after a collapse. Just before Christmas, he finally went out in public again, just in time for the Christmas party at a certain billiard hall. I remember Yoshiki enjoying himself excessively at that time. Actually, I had been organizing that party. Afterwards, I thought that I never wanted to organize a party again. Being the host, I had invited a lot of people, but when it was to start, no one showed up. I was so surprised. I remember well how flustered I was, thinking, “Huh, what do I do if no one comes?” Last year, we were rehearsing at the studio and had an abundance of chicken from Moss Burger. Heath’s words while looking at it were, “Christmas is really a desolate time. People are snuggling up to each other because it is so lonely.” Those words were very deep (laughs).
