When I say that Brook and X butt heads when they first meet, I mean it
"Brook, I need to turn in my report to Commander Signas," X explains. "Stay here and do not move, okay? I'll be out in just a second." Brook rolls her eyes as she nods. X, however, doesn't take that as an answer. "I mean it, Brook," he sternly repeats. "Do not leave this hallway." Brook groans, giving him an exasperated look. "Fine," she grumbles. "I won't." X gives her one last meaningful glance before turning to the door and entering the room.
And now.
She waits.
And it's boring.
Brook lets out a huff as she looks off to the side. Seriously, who does X think he is? She's not some kid; she's more than capable of taking care of herself, thank you. With that, she decides that maybe she'll take a small look around. It won't take too long, and she won't wonder off too far. She just... wants to see. The Maverick Hunter Headquarters are... the stuff of legend, after all. Not even the Guild has half the equipment here.
Besides, what could she possibly hurt?
With one final glance back to the door X had went into, Brook decides to chance it and head off on her own. There's... not too many landmarks; reploids don't need to make mental maps nearly as much as humans do, after all. But it's all cool to see nonetheless. She's so engrossed in her exploring that she doesn't hear the footsteps that come up behind her.
"How on Earth did you manage to get in here, kid?" asks a... somewhat familiar voice, as Brook feels the hood of her coat get picked up. She yelps as her feet leave the ground, leaving her facing... Massive? Matisimo? Brook doesn't quite remember his name. Just that it started with an 'M'. The green clad reploid had been there in the Maverick outbreak she'd helped out in, Brook recalls. ...It speaks volumes on how entrenched she'd been in wandering that she didn't notice him. Or a testament to his self control for such a huge reploid to be able to sneak around.
"Well?" The hammer weilding hunter asks. "Seriously, kid. You're not supposed to be here. You could get hurt." Oh. Of course he wouldn't recognize her. She'd been Minnow at the time. Even so, his tone is quite annoying. And Brook can't help but glare at him for it. The green clad reploid merely raises an eyebrow at her. He lets out a sigh as he turns back towards the hallway she had just left. "Alright then," he muses. "Guess we're going to Signus."
Wait.
That's where X is at.
Crap.
Well, there went any chance of not getting in trouble...
As the reploid carrying Brook makes his way back through the corridor, she notices a sight that makes her heart sink.
A very peeved looking X.
Wonderful.
"Oh, didn't realize you were back, X," the green clad reploid says. "I'd stay and chat, but there seems to have been a stowaway." At least his tone is amused.
"Thank you, Massimo," X replies, and there it is. That's his name. "I'm afraid she's not quite a stowaway. She's with me. This is Brook." And oh. That look. X is definitely not happy with her.
"...What?" Massimo asks, completely confused. "You babysitting or something?" X heaves a sigh.
"Something like that," he admits. "It's a long story. But, I will be speaking with her about wandering off when I *specifically told her not to.*" Brook can't help but wince. He's absolutely mad. Massimo shrugs, finally letting Brook down from his hold on her coat. And before she can even take a step, X has her hand in his grip. "In any case, I hope we can catch up later," X continues, not letting her go. "Maybe I'll be able to explain everything. For now, however, I unfortunately have to leave. There are a few things I need to prepare."
Massimo nods, waving to them. X waves in kind as he drags Brook off. Mindful of his pace and grip, of course, but definitely dragging her. It's when they exit the headquarters, and X still has not let go that Brook begins to protest. "X, seriously," she complains. "I'm not a kid! You can let go of my hand now!"
"Oh really?" he snaps. "Because I seem to recall telling you to *stay put.* And yet, you seem to have been unable to do so." Brook snorts, beginning to try and wriggle her hand out of his grasp. It's fruitless, of course; gentle as he is, X is still a reploid with reploid strength. He's not letting go unless he wants to.
And he definitely isn't going to.
But she's going to make her displeasure at the fact known.

Gangster Paradise
Jason Todd x younger brother reader
Jason is a rapper with a biological younger brother
(Note, Jason didn’t die in this story)
Warnings: some swearing
Being a kid is the best thing if in the right environment, Jason wasn’t one of the lucky ones.
Luckily, he was adopted by Bruce Wayne in good time. Becoming Robin was a good thing for him, Jason felt like he could let all the anger out.
Jason was a teenager when he found out Willis Todd, his father, had another son. Jason panicked as he didn’t want you to have the same upbringing as him, Jason fought to get you out of that house.
The social worker said that Foster care was the best thing for you, Jason agreed, but only if his adoptive father would do it.
Seemed unusual, but not unheard of, Jason had become a big brother. You were Jason’s light as he carried you through the street on his shoulders.
Jason held onto your little hands as he walked gently with you, smiling brightly as you chuckled.
‘Jay Jay’ you said, babbling as Jason choked up, he was your first word.
Once Jason turned 18 he was legally an adult, he wanted custody of you now that he could be a legal guardian.
Jason did it all himself and at such a young age, he’d heard that Bruce started fostering a young boy named Tim, dropping in occasionally to check in on his dad. By this point Dick had moved away.
‘Ready for school?’ Jason asked you as you cleaned up your bowl, finishing your cereal.
‘Yeah’ Jason smiled, ruffling your hair, as he handed you your school bag.
Jason enjoyed his role as the big brother, the school runs and working while you were at school. Rent and bills were tough, but thankfully Jason got an allowance from Bruce that helped.
Parent teacher conferences were tricky as some of the teachers always asked to speak to your parents, to which you politely reminded Jason was your guardian.
The smile on Jason’s face when he saw how well you were doing, better than he did without the distractions.
‘That’s your older brother?’ One of your friends remarked, now a little older as you nodded.
‘Damn’ she remarked as she took him in, you cringed your face as Jason came and hugged you, picking you up at the gates.
It was summer, the hot air filled as Jason walked in just torn jeans and a tank top, his muscles and tattoos on show.
‘Everyone is staring Jay’ you commented as Jason saw some of the teenaged girls looking.
‘Please ladies, I’m old enough to be your dads’ Jason called out, laughing as you buried your face.
Typical teenage attitude and finding Jason embarrassing. The drive home was fine, Jason played his new single for you, getting your approval.
Jason was always a musical guy, he had a passion and he wanted to experiment with how far he could go. Not thinking he would get the chance to make actual music. Making it into the music industry.
Your teenage years were similar to most as your body began changing, you experienced the normal cycle of emotions and everything else that follows.
However, Jason noticed there was something different about you lately. You weren’t just moody, you were secretive and it concerned Jason. The two of you were close, you shared almost everything.
‘He’s allowed to have some secrets’ Bruce commented, typing away on the bat computer, Jason nodding.
‘I know, but this is different B, he seems different’
‘Teenagers are different to toddlers’ Bruce finished as Jason agreed.
Thinking he would just have to try and talk to you, hoping you would open up.
‘I want us to chat bud, something is happening y/n. You seem different’ Jason admitted to you, you played with the food on your plate a little.
You sighed as Jason looked into your eyes, you knew you would have to open up eventually. You trust Jason with your life, you love him. You’re certain he loves you too.
A man doesn’t agree to drop everything to raise his baby brother, not without feeling love.
‘You can talk to me about anything y/n’ Jason said as he stroked your pinky with his finger a little.
‘You sure?’ You asked, hesitating as Jason nodded with a smile.
‘Of course, you can tell me anything’ Jason insisted, not breaking eye contact with you.
‘Jason, I’m gay’ you admitted, searching Jason’s face for a reaction.
He didn’t speak for a few seconds until he cleared his throat, his eyes burying into yours.
‘You sure?’ Jason asked for reassurance, you nodded as Jason rose to his feet.
‘Stand up’ he said, his face not giving anything away, you stood up as Jason took a step towards you.
Jason’s arms wrapped around you as he held you in a bear hug, your face resting on his shoulder, Jason gave you a small pat on the back. His big frame engulfed your small one, a time passing of the sibling love.
‘I love you no matter what’ Jason said in your ear as you nodded.
‘Love you too’ you smiled, the two of you pulled away from the hug.
A couple years had gone by since Jason began making a name in the streets of Gotham, and not just as a rap artist, but as the bad Red Hood.
Jason would never let you join his team as he wanted nothing more than to keep you safe. Jason would die before he let anything happen to you.
Jason stood on stage as he performed in his latest tour, you in the front row. Smiling bright as you watched your older brother proudly.
Jason came over and gave you a quick hug as he walked through the audience, the audience cheering loudly.
‘My little brother’s here’ Jason announced into mic, smiling as he pointed over at you.
Jason smiled proudly as he finally got you to agree to be in his music video, he had you just do poses for the camera, walking through the streets with his dog.
The track played in the background, Jason lip synced as you gave your all for the first time. Jason would’ve called you a pro, but he was biased.
You grew some popularity with appearing in Jason’s music video, Jason of course wanted you to do more with him.
‘So, this is where the magic happens. Nothing too big, we’ll just have you sit and fill in some of the backing vocals’ Jason said, handing you the headphones.
Jason was smiling as he watched you singing in the recording booth, doing some backing vocals.
‘You ever thought about doing a single?’ Jason asked you as he walked with you to get some lunch.
You laughed a little as you showed a shy side, Jason was serious and thought maybe you could do some singing in your own.
‘Oh you’re not joking?’ You replied, Jason chuckled.
It was a shy moment as you stepped out of your comfort zone. You sang a melody as Jason smiled proudly watching.
‘Shit, he’s good’ Jason mumbled to himself. You came out of the booth, a small smile on your face.
It had been a year and Jason was getting you in his record label, he wanted you to be a solo artist like him. He wanted you to do your own thing.
You found a new passion for this line of work, it was all you ever thought about.
It wasn’t long before you and Jason were on stage together, performing together.
Jason featured you in his videos more, you did the same for him.
Jason was up for a music award, you were cheering the loudest when Jason won his award, walking up the steps as he was handed the trophy.
‘This is amazing, thank you guys so much, really, thank you. I want to thank my baby brother y/n more as he is such a supportive person, the best person I know. Love you bro, thank you all’ Jason spoke into the mic.
The stages lights hit different tonight as Jason began his latest tour. He had this flood of memories, seeing how tiny you were to who you are now.
There was always this speculation, or stereotype that Jason is this hard guy. Tattoos everywhere, even a couple on his face, however, he really is just a big child. He loves so hard and is a different person when with you or others he’s close to.
Your biggest hero is Jason, along with him being your role model. The teenager who dropped everything to raise you, to a man who gave you his mantle.

Haha one step closer to posting the first chapter of the Tibblings Fic, there are just a couple of characters that needed to be introduced before hand! So let's get started!
Going from left to right btw
Starting off with Valerie!
She's Giovanni's daughter and is going through her "moody Teenager phase". She's angry at the way her life is going after her parents get a divorce and Vanni begins to date Lib. It only gets more akward for her whenever she finds out that Lib is her art teacher. She doesnt want to get in the way of Giovanni's and Libs relationship, and lies to her Dad whenever he ask her if she likes him dating Kib. Whenever she distance herself from Giovanni and Lib she can be quite friendly. She's in charge of year book photos for her school and news paper.
She's a sweet girl with a big personality, but she can become a nervous wreck. Especially around David, who she has a tiny crush on and admires a lot.
Giovanni is Valerie's Dad, Libs boyfriend, and Tibbs very best friend. He's divorced from his horrible ex wife and is in a very healthy and loving relationship with Tibbs sister, Lib. He's trying his best to navigate Valerie's moodiness post divorce. He loves Valerie and let's her know that she comes first before any woman, but he also needs her to try and get along with Lib.
His friendship with Tibbs is one that he cherishes to the fullest. Heck, if he never met Tibbs he would probably be a catholic pastor like his mother wanted him to be. As teenagers Vanni followed Tibbs to whatever rebellious scheme Tibbs had in mind. Drinking Beers Tibbs took from the gestation he worked at? Why not. Smoking MJ in the bed of a truck? Sure, sounds fun! Helping Tibbs run from the cops because of God's know what? Absolutely! What are friends for!
Gracie was also in a friend group with Vanni and Tibbs as teens. After moving all the way from Oklahoma to Hawaii she instantly took a liking to the two boys and they all went and caused chaos together.
She mellowed out a lot after Tibbs left and sparked a romance with Tibbs brother Budd and eventually married him. She finds all aspects of their marriage to be fine except for whenever it comes with her struggle with intimacy. See Gracie is Ace, but in the time period the fic takes place in Gracie doesn't understand that there's a term for how she feels. Which sparks an issue between her and Budd as he doesn't understand Gracies feelings.
Budd and Gracie do however have a kid together named David. And Gracie loves him to pieces and does her best to raise a good gentleman. She works as a pre k teacher and connects to Lib a lot since they both are in the same career field. She still stays in contact with Giovanni and the two meet up for a drink every now and then.
David is a sweet younge man but is a dumb as rocks. He doesn't do well with sit down and listen to what the teachers tell you, he's more hands on. Which is why he can't tell you what 12 x 12 is but he can go on on and on about sports, especially foot ball! Explaining just how to throw the ball just right or the different positions in a foot ball team. He does tutoring to help him get his grades up so he can stay on his school's football team.
He's fairly popular around the school and always sparks up a conversation with Valerie whenever she comes and takes the teams pictures for news paper or year book. Joking around how their basically cousins, much to Valerie's dismay.
He helps Budd out in the bakery on the weekends and after his tutoring sessions and foot ball practice. Coming straight to the store ready to work until it's time to close. It's a routine that Budds been putting him on for years and he's enforced it a lot ever since Budd let David join the foot ball team. Wanting to make sure that David stays out of trouble and not go around doing things he shouldn't. Which it isn't like David would do anything, he knows better then to go out and do dumb things. It's no use trying to argue with Budd over it though, so the only day that David isn't working is on Fridays for his games.
And my favorite part of creating characters! Voice claims!!!
David is my favorite one! Chicken Joe's Voice is just so great to listen too!
#almost there guys! chapter 1 is going to be posted tonight!#the muppets#muppets#muppet ocs#giovanni#valerie#Lib#David#Gracie#Tibbs#Tibblings#Budd#Rose&Tibbs❤️#ocs#art#janice muppets#voice claims#go watch Surfs Up its MUCH better then happy feet.

Little steps (George Weasley x reader) | pt 2 - Interest
Pairing: George Weasley x reader, (hinted) OC x reader
Part 1
Word count: 3059
Summary: When the term starts Y/N tries to enjoy everyday life at Hogwarts, finds herself treated by the twins no more as just their brother’s friend or the popular girl and is excited for the Triwizard tournament to come. The announcement of the Yule Ball leaves her with many propositions, when she already thought she had a date set
Warnings: just a few swears
A/N: Strap back folks, cause I let loose. Didn’t want to rush things and was worried about the pacing of the plot. Excited for the next part cause we’re getting there...
September, 1994
This year was going to be a good one. All three of your previous years at Hogwarts, you and your friends never got to enjoy the ordinary. Each and every time, something was brewing, only to blow up right before the school year ended. Evenings spent on studying and essays were followed by trying to save the world. Or Hogwarts, at the very least. But not this time. You were trying to push back the memories of what happened after the Quidditch World Cup final and just be a teenager.
You sat between Hermione and Harry at the welcoming feast. The sorting hat had sang its song, and you curiously watched the sorting ceremony, wondering who’d join your house this year. But the most exciting thing that happened was, without a doubt, the announcement of the Triwizard Tournament. Even if it meant cancelling the Quidditch Cup that year, you hoped it would prove entertaining enough. You were also looking forward to what having students from two foreign wizarding schools would change in Hogwarts’ life. Only you’d have to wait two months to find out.
The next day was your first day of class, when everyone was starting to get back to their Hogwarts routine after weeks of vacation. The table was busy, some were discussing magical ways of making oneself older a few seats further, some were discussing their new timetables. You studied yours, chewing your toast and listening to what your friends had to say about it. -Today’s not bad… outside all morning, - said Ron, running his finger along Monday’s column -Herbology with the Hufflepuffs and Care of Magical Creatures… damn it, we’re still with the Slytherins… Herbology with Hufflepuffs, huh. You smiled a little to yourself. You had some friends in that house, two of them – Matthew and Eric – you’ve known since childhood. You even went to muggle elementary school together, before your adventure at Hogwarts began – your parents, even though pure-blood and rather wealthy, were progressive. Eric was a year above you, but Matt was your age, so you’d partner up in herbology. This year it would be slightly different, as over the summer things between the two of you changed a bit.
In the first weeks of the term, things had slowly but surely settled down. You had a new, as usual, questionable DADA teacher. Hermione decided to found S.P.E.W., trying to fight for house-elves’ rights. Although slightly unsure of her methods, you couldn’t help but agree with her message. In your world, it seemed normal, in the mansion owned by your dad’s ancestors it was normal, you never questioned it. But in your parents’ household there never was one, and you were just fine.
The day was nice, mid-September air still quite warm as you were making your way through the open corridors near Transfiguration. Your thoughts were shifting between schoolwork and leisure. As you were approaching an intersection, you heard quick, heavy steps. Most people were already in the great hall, as lunchtime started not long before.
Fred and George ran out of one of the corridors, ran past you sparing a glance in your direction as you watched with interest, and then they hopped a half wall to hide behind it. What was it this time? After them, emerged Filch, panting heavily.
For half a second you panicked. Would he blame you for whatever they did? Take you for an accomplice?
It wasn’t logical, you were just casually strolling, but you wouldn’t put anything past the old maniac. You tried to keep yourself together when he looked at you expectantly. Quickly, you pointed into one of the corridors. Your chances were 50/50, he could believe you and let himself be fooled, or see right through you, finding it suspicious, that you tried to help him and try to convince the Headmaster to allow him to tie you in his beloved shackles that were always ready in his office.
He ran. You slowly pretended to continue your way, until he was gone, when you approached the wall the twins were hiding behind. -Bli-meey, he definitely added something special to his oatmeal this morning, he never lasts this long -said George to his brother -I expected him to snuff out halfway through! -added Fred -You lads owe me one. – you said smugly, crossing your arms over your chest -That we do, flower. – George said, smiling at you, showing off his dimples -Just say a word when you wanna break some rules – Fred winked at you, then grinned at his twin and the two walked away, as you forgot where you were going before that encounter.
October, 1994
October was passing quickly in huge amounts of work, as if all the teachers made some kind of pact to rob you of free time. George and Fred seemed more confident in their bantering with you, though.
Before you knew it, there was just a week left until Halloween. You were now in the entrance hall, in front of a sign Ron was reading out loud:
TRIWIZARD TOURNAMENT
The delegations from Beauxbatons and Durmstrang will be arriving at 6 o’clock on Friday the 30th of October. Lessons will end half an hour early —
-Brilliant! - said Harry. -It’s Potions last thing on Friday! Snape won’t have time to poison us all!
Students will return their bags and books to their dormitories and assemble in front of the castle to greet our guests before the Welcoming Feast.
The following week, the faculty was getting more and more nervous. The castle was being thoroughly cleaned and everything was supposed to be perfect for the visit. When the time for the feast came, you and your friends arrived in the great hall, which was decorated beautifully overnight. Enormous silk banners hung from the walls, each of them representing a Hogwarts House: red with a gold lion for Gryffindor, blue with a bronze eagle for Ravenclaw, yellow with a black badger for Hufflepuff, and green with a silver serpent for Slytherin. Behind the teachers’ table, the largest banner of all bore the Hogwarts coat of arms: lion, eagle, badger, and snake united around a large letter H.
Before dinner, everyone headed to the Entrance Courtyard to greet the guests. Examining all the young witches and wizards from both schools you couldn’t help but feel slightly intimidated. But nonetheless, you were looking forward to the following months, when the events of the tournament were explained to you scrupulously.
The next day was Saturday, which would usually mean late breakfast for most, but not today. Students were huddled around the Goblet of Fire, placed in the centre of the entrance hall. You watched curiously to see who could become the Hogwarts champion.
George, Fred and Lee decided to try their luck with aging potion, all three taking a drop of it and clearly confident in their ability to survive win the tournament and split the prize.
When you saw George follow Fred and step over the age line to place his name in the goblet, your eyes narrowed down a bit. You were just about to contemplate, what if, when- Loud sizzling noise and the twins were thrown back, rocking long, white beards. You laughed at the sight, just as everyone else. But you also felt something else deep down, which you didn’t give a thought – relief.
November, 1994
November was weird for you. Harry was chosen to be Hogwarts’ champion along with Cedric Diggory, but Ron wouldn’t believe he hadn’t thrown his name in, so now your group of friends was split. You thought the whole conflict to be a tad ridiculous, but you found yourself alone with Harry more, who most of the school seemed to hate now.
You and Hermione helped him prepare for the first task of the tournament, once you learned what it would be. Thanks to Moody’s tip, you spent hours practicing the summoning charm. You grasped it faster than Harry, and you tried not to show that it worried you a bit.
The 24th finally arrived. You found a place for yourself in the wooden stands, fellow Gryffindors around you. George and Fred were doing rounds, taking bets. After it seemed they were finished, as the first contestant was about to walk out, they took an empty spot next to you. -Care to make a bet, young lady? – said Fred, leaning down a bit and wiggling his eyebrows at you. -Gambling, huh? – you said, smirking and looking between the boys -Sign me up. -Atta girl. -George said and opened their suitcase once again. You were thankful your cheeks had already been a bit pink from the November chill as you were taking out the money. -3 galleons for Ced, 2 for Harry. – you handed them the coins -just don’t tell him -You pretended to whisper but just loud enough that they could still hear you over the crowd.
At some point after the task had started you got a bit cold and decided to put on the warm scarf you packed in your bag just in case. In the tight crowd, you clumsily fumbled with the bag and the jacket, trying to wrap yourself up. You were about to attempt to hold the bag between your knees to avoid placing it on the floor, when a big hand reached out to you from your right. You looked up to see George silently offering his help. You smiled and said ‘thanks’ just above a whisper. Handing him the bag, his warm hand brushed your cold one for just a moment. You put the scarf on, took your bag back and resumed your spectating position, this time, just a bit more to the right.
December, 1994
At the beginning of the month, the Yule Ball was announced. For you, it meant hordes of boys asking you to be their date. Even ones you haven’t exchanged a word with before. Some of them you politely declined, some of them just got a short ‘no.’
Professor McGonagall took it upon herself to make sure students from the house of Godric Gryffindor knew what they were doing on the dance floor, and not behave like a babbling, bumbling band of baboons.
And so, you were all gathered in her classroom, cleared of all desks, boys on one side of the room and girls on the other. When she called Ron over to demonstrate, you couldn’t help but stifle your laughter at your friends awkwardness, when he was asked to grab her waist. Soon, she directed everyone to pair up and practice.
Just like always in these situations, you kind of stepped forward, trying not to be awkward and hide, but at the same time looked around the room a bit nervously – wondering who’d ask you, if you could afford to pick and choose or if anyone would come up to you at all.
Your eyes involuntarily found George Weasley across the room. But you didn’t expect him to also look in your direction. Neither did he, but he tried not to let it show. You weren’t able to predict, what he’d do next. You didn’t know what you wanted in that moment, either, as your thoughts seemed clouded. Whether it was for him to run over to you and sweep you off your feet or just leave you, in your nervous state, so he didn’t have to witness you like that. After all, it was unlike you. Y/N Y/L/N, the talk of the school.
You’d rather not think about what your facial expression looked like, when you saw his eyes on you, his lips slowly curling into a small, shy smile.
You were brought to the world of living by Dean Thomas who walked up with a kind smile, holding out his hand for you and asked you to dance. You liked Dean. He was nice, smart, tall and cute. You said yes and smiled charmingly. When you glanced at the spot where George stood previously, for just half a second, he wasn’t there anymore. You weren’t sure what you expected. Why would he? Besides, it was just George after all, right?
Dancing with Dean, there was some small talk about classes, a few jokes about poor dance skills, and before you knew it, Professor McGonagall thanked you all for your time and you were dismissed.
The group headed to the wide, wooden doors at the back. Dean still beside you, the two of you also making your way out. -You know who you’re going with, then? – he asked you. -To the ball, I mean. - You didn’t, to be fair. You assumed you’d be going with Matt. -No, not really – you replied, skipping the details. -So.. any chance you’d like to go with me?.. – asked Dean, smiling shyly and looking down at your face, bringing his hand to the back of his neck. You felt someone’s eyes on your back, or maybe you just imagined it. Shit. You didn’t expect that. You looked at the tall boy beside you, trying to hide your shock. In the corner of your eye, you see two tall gingers pass you by in the corridor. You liked Dean, you thought again. He was cute. -No.. sorry, mate… - you muttered, truly apologetic -Hope you find somebody nice, though – you offered him a wide, hopeful smile. -That’s alright. Had to try my luck, though – he said, nodding and grinning to you. He truly seemed to take it well. –See you around – he gave you a little wave, which you returned, and picked up his pace, losing you in the crowd. So you walked the rest of the way to your common room, in the black-and-red sea, making a little mental plan of the homework you were to do for the rest of the day.
A week later, you made your way to the library in the afternoon. You seized the moment when you were in a relatively good mood and decided it’s a good opportunity to work on some assignments, to maybe wrap them up before the Christmas break.
Walking through the library you were trying to find an optimal spot for your little session. When you picked one, you walked into the aisle and were about to sit down when you spotted George sitting in the opposite row, facing the bookcase, away from you.
He didn’t see you, as he was bent over a book, his hand supporting his head and holding hair out of his face, elbow propped on the desk. He held a quill in his other hand and seemed – focused? Maybe just a little distressed. You caught yourself staring but you couldn’t blame yourself – you don’t see a Weasley twin working in the library often. In fact, you rarely see them separately.
You looked around, stepped back and forth awkwardly for a bit, unsure what to do. You heard him mutter a few curse words to himself and have to hold back a chuckle. You debated just sitting down and just getting to your work, but you take a few careful steps to try and look through his shoulder aand-
Defence Against the Dark Arts. What sometimes seemed to be the only thing you were good at – Merlin had your back. You decided to take your chance, your own schoolwork be damned. You walk up, lean on the desk next to him- -You come here often? – was not what was supposed to come out of your mouth, but it did, before you could think it through. Merlin would surely be proud of the bunch of curses you directed at yourself in your thoughts. What was wrong with you?!
George was looking up at you with wide eyes but amused smile.
-Eh, erm.. you need any help with that? – you tried to save yourself, gesturing at his parchment -I’m pretty good at DADA, ahead of my year, actually… - you continued, looking down, because if you kept looking into those warm, brown eyes, you’d surely be finished. -Uh, yeah, sure – he answered, chuckling slightly -I mean, I could use the help -He straightened up and shifted slightly as you grabbed the back of the chair next to him. -I don’t come here often… -he said under his breath with a cheeky smile.
After you settled into the seat next to him, surprisingly, the both of you relaxed pretty quickly. Even if you suspected it had been the first time the two of you properly talked alone. It was nice, your banter was natural and you actually managed to help him with the assignment, your own ones long forgotten.
-Thanks, Y/N, I really appreciate it. I’d probably rot in here, trying to do it myself, or just give up – he said and rolled his eyes, packing up his things and you were getting up. -No problem, really. I know how often you just need someone to put it in different words and everything starts to click. – you paused for a moment -I’ll see you around, George. – you started to slowly to walk away -Yeah, see you.. -he had packed his things already, and was looking at your back, retreating- -Hey, Y/N? – you stopped and turned back, looking at him curiously, your eyes telling him you were listening. -D’you have a date to the ball? – he asked, not believing his own words. Matt still hasn’t asked you. You suspected why, after you and Eric went a little far with your teasing when you hung out the other day, he got a little salty. But you knew he’d get over it, it wasn’t really serious, and there was still almost two weeks to the ball. -Noo.. -your tone almost saying ‘go on’. -Fancy going with me? – he asked looking into your eyes expectantly, but his voice was soft, and if we weren’t talking about George Weasley here, you’d say shy. You really had set your mind on going with Matt, Georges question was really surprising. You were not aware that was the case for the both of you. You’d never expect that. Yet the idea was interesting. You knew you’d have fun with him. -Yes – you smiled sweetly and bit your lower lip a bit, standing small in front of him He let out a breath, grinned at you and nodded too, looking away -Yeah, cool.. wicked.. – the last part almost inaudible.

Iron 7 (Peter Parker x F!Oc)
Words: 2, 323
Masterlist
Chapter 6
Post-credits scene (Iron man 1) / Chapter 8
2010
"It's unfair that I can't go," Lily complains, walking into the living room.
"You should get used to it," Jess says without taking her eyes off the television where they’re playing the replay of the grand opening of Stark Expo. "No one else can find out who your father is.”
Lily leans against the back of the chair where Jessica is.
“It’s unfair. My dad hasn't even said anything about going, lots of kids have fun there,” She sighs.
The screen highlights the dance of some women in small red shorts and tops, referring to the armor. And to Tony with a huge smile showing his great achievement.
"Even he has more fun than me,” She grimaces. "Although, I think he’s more cocky now than before…”
“Big word,” says Jess. "Stop complaining. Maybe one day, I can take you.”
"Seriously?"
"If your father lets us visit him for free, of course,” She turns to see her and smiles. “Now finish your homework.”
“Fine."
Lily returns to the table with all the homework that her math teacher left her after her private class. She expected to go to school like a normal girl, but Pepper and Tony insisted on hiring several teachers to visit her during the week. "We can't risk it," They said, much less when reporters and practically the whole world follows Tony in every move since he broke the news about the Iron Man.
She can’t complain, some subjects are fun and she advances very fast, if she were in a school, she wouldn't be able to do it. In addition to the private lessons she has some with Happy, she appreciates that too. It's fun to see Happy struggling to learn the subjects with her.
"Hey, Lily. You have to see this,” Jess says from the living room. Lily returns and this time sits on the couch to see her father in the Senate or the military committee. Obviously, television doesn't show everything, but enough to see that her father just makes fun of everyone, especially that businessman Justin Hammer.
"Very cocky.”
Both girls nod.
***
"And I also learned about worldwar-two, but Professor Edwards said it would take us longer to do our research because there is so much information," Lily informs walking next to Pepper.
"I'm glad you're enjoying your classes, honey," She says with a smile, but then sneezes.
"Are you sure you shouldn't be resting?" The worried girl asks.
"I'm fine, don’t worry.”
They both go down the stairs until they reach Tony's workshop. Pepper puts the combination and they enter. Lily, seeing Tony for the first time in a few weeks, runs towards him. Tony gets up from the chair and receives her with a hug, bending down to her height.
"You should also greet me this way, Pepper," Tony teases. Pepper rolls her eyes, but she can't help a smile at the cute image.
"Why didn't you wake me up when you arrived?" Lily asks as they part. She crosses her arms.
"I could hear your snoring outside,” He jokes. “No nightmares?"
"Didn’t have any this week.”
“Good, and enough waiting for me on the couch, last time you complained about back pain. Those complaints are not allowed until you’re fifty years old... or thirty, it depends,” He nods, ruffling the girl's hair making her laugh.
The moment ends when Pepper remembers why she was upset with Tony. Now they both walk around the workshop discussing things. Lily listens to them as she sits in the chair where Tony was. She frowns when she sees a brown box, but Pepper's comment distracts her.
"The Expo is a gigantic waste of time.”
“There’s nothing more important to me than the Expo,” answers Tony. “It’s my primary point of concern.”
"Hey!" Lily complains. “What about me? I’m your daughter! And you haven't taken me to Stark Expo yet, so unfair…” She says with a pout.
"What?" Tony says from the other side. “I'm sorry, kid. Grown ups talking here!" He answers by pretending not to have heard her.
Lily makes a face.
"The Expo is your ego gone crazy,” follows Pepper.
Lily stopped listening. Photos of boring cars on Tony's computers are more interesting than Pepper scolding her father. She only lifts her head when they return to the entrance. Tony trades a painting for an Iron Man painting. Then, suddenly, Tony appoints Pepper CEO of Stark Industries.
"Trying to figure out who a worthy successor would be,” says Tony over a few glasses of champagne, "and then I realized, well since she's only eight, she can't run a company,” He points out to the girl.
"Yet!" She yells from her place.
"It’s you. It's always been you.”
***
"I think I'm ready for that training," says Lily pulling the ropes of the ring in the middle of the room.
"Not yet, Smarty," Happy replies.
"But I'm eight now and I can outrun you.”
"Anyone can outrun Happy, kid," adds Tony.
"So why did you tell me to come if you won't let me train?"
“Watch us and learn.”
Lily makes a face. She’s getting tired of everyone forbidding her so many things.
It doesn't take long for Pepper to walk in asking Tony for a signature. Lily walks over to the white chair near Pepper. She sighs, she's about to complain to her, but the presence of another redhead interrupts her. She had never seen that woman and apparently she also distracts the two men.
"What’s your name, lady?" Tony asks
"Rushman. Natalie Rushman,” She introduces herself.
“Hi," greets Lily. Natalie looks at her with a smile.
"Wait, I thought no one should know about Stark Jr.'s existence,” Tony points out.
“She’s already signed a confidentiality contract. Don’t worry.”
Tony shrugs and invites Natalie into the ring. She obeys. Pepper sits on the couch next to Lily and Tony pulls her aside to sit on the same couch.
"Now she’ll be your assistant?" Lily asks. Pepper nods. “Wow, you used to be Tony's assistant, now you have one. I wish I had one,” She says.
"I want one of those too," says Tony. And with that, they argue again. Lily rolls her eyes, but something else interrupts her thoughts and the discussion.
Apparently Natalie is more than capable and better trained than Happy since she manages to throw him to the floor in one movement. The three of them get up from the couch.
"Happy," Pepper squeals.
Lily goes back up to the edge of the ring and smiles seeing how Happy gets up with difficulty. She raises her head to see Natalie.
"Cool! Can you teach me to do that?"
“Sure."
"Definitely not," Pepper and Nat say at the same time.
"Why not?" Lily frowns and steps out of the ring
The second redhead clears her throat, she puts on her shoes and talks to Tony about some documents. In the end, they finally finish the paperwork for Pepper to become CEO. Natalie leaves. Tony and Pepper start talking about a trip to Monaco.
"What? Are you going to travel again? You just arrived,” The girl complains, drawing their attention.
“It'll only be a couple of days, Lily," replies Pepper.
"That's what you always say.”
“Hey." says Tony. "It's a business trip, kid.”
"That too you always say,” She rolls her eyes. Pepper looks surprised, that's not how she used to act before. "Can I go this time? I can do my homework there.”
“Sorry, but no. Remember that you’re still a ghost." says Tony
She frowns.
"That's not fair. You always leave me here, I can't even go to a park and you don't let me accompany you, you’re hardly home anymore,” She says, raising her voice and causing a certain tingling to appear in her hands.
"Watch your tone, Lily,” says Tony starting to get annoyed. He looks down at the girl's clenched hands. "Turn that off, now.”
"Just this once, I promise to be good. If you want, I'll stay at the hotel,” She insists with a frustrated sigh. She opens her hands to avoid making a mess.
"I said no, young lady.”
"But-"
"Lily Stark, I said no,” Tony ends with a firm voice.
The little girl clenches her teeth and runs out of the place before they can see her cry from anger.
"Huh, it brought out your moody side too, Tony," Happy says from across the room.
Stark sighs.
"I'll talk to her when we get back.”
Pepper feels guilty. Maybe they’d been more absent since Tony announced the identity of Iron Man and now it’ll be worse because of the new job. She wants to follow her, but she knows better to leave her alone for a moment.
***
"Hey, you broke your record," Jess says, handing a bottle to the girl, who gasps. She takes it and sits on the chair next to the girl.
It's been a couple of hours since Lily started running through the gated area of the Stark property.
"Can we do something else?" Lily asks.
Jess takes out the notebook where the itinerary is written.
"I suppose we can rest for a while," Jess replies, taking off her sunglasses.
"You didn't do anything, what are you going to rest from?" Lily says with a smile.
"I can't be in the sun that long, I want to be tanned, not burned.”
"If you say so.”
After the break, Lily continued with her task, finishing earlier that she is used to. The rest of the day, they both decided to just relax with some masks that Jess had brought.
"Why do they smell funny?" Lily asks feeling the texture of her mask.
"That's coconut, you'll get used to it,” answers Jess. “Afterwards we’ll paint our nails, we’ll watch romantic movies while we eat ice cream. It’ll be fun.”
"Why are we doing this?"
"It's what some girls are used to doing when they are alone or with their friends.”
Lily nods. "Why?"
Jess laughs. At this point she’s already used to the onslaught of questions that she sometimes receives.
“It's fun, it's also girls quality time, you know, they talk about handsome people, the boys they like from school. It’s a distraction that sometimes we need, even from parents.”
Lily frowns.
"Do you need a distraction from your parents?"
“Okay,” Jess gets comfortable on the bed to sit in front of the girl. “Many times, especially when you’re a teenager, you argue with your parents and it’s normal. That’s why it’s good to have friends with whom you can vent. Trust me, if I didn't have my friends, my relationship with my mother would be a disaster. But it's not a bad thing,” She clarifies when she sees Lily's grimace. "Parents also need to get away from their children a bit.”
"Is that why Tony travels a lot?"
"I don’t think so. He’s an important businessman and he just wants to take care of you, that's why you should stay here.”
"It's not fair,” She crosses her arms.
“Yes, you should get used to that too. When you’re older it’ll be a little easier.”
Lily's head fills with more questions.
“Jess."
"Yeah?"
“We're friends?”
"Of course.”
"Can I vent to you about my dad?" Jess laughs.
"Tell me everything.”
They both talk about many things and do girlish stuff. Lily learns a few things as Jess tells her about her life as a student and everything she does when she’s not taking care of her. At one point, she wishes she had that life, but, even if she could go to normal school, she couldn't have all of that, at least not like Jess.
Night comes, Jess sleeps in the guest room leaving Lily in her room. The great Stark mansion is completely silent, the nightmares that had not tormented the girl for several months return and this time, they’re worse.
She’s on the floor of an empty room, the four walls are completely white. She doesn't see anyone else, but she knows someone is watching her. She wants to ask for help, she wants to scream, but no matter how much she opens her mouth, nothing comes out of her. Her torso and arms are trapped with a straitjacket. She tries to get out of it, but everything is useless.
The tickling starts in her hands, but this time she’s not in control and quickly spreads throughout her body. She wants to burn the straitjacket, but in the dream it’s not possible.
"Lily!"
The girl suddenly wakes up sitting on the mattress. She looks everywhere, but her mind is still in that empty room. She falls off her bed, but keeps moving until a wall stops her.
“Lily, it's okay! Quiet! You have to breathe…” Jess says in the dark.
“Don't!" screams Lily. Her chest rises and falls rapidly. "Please don't hurt me!” She sobs. “Please, please…”
"Lily, it's me!” The girl approaches the girl and touches her arm, but she removes it immediately when she feels the high temperature. Jess screams in fright, causing Lily to jump in place of her. "J.A.R.V.I.S, turn on the lights!” She orders and the AI obeys.
Lily blinks trying to focus her vision, when it happens, what she sees is another fear: Jess is in front of her looking at the blisters on her hand.
She had done that. Lily burned Jess.
Memories of when this happened with her mother come to her mind, causing her panic to escalate.
She doesn't hesitate twice to leave the room, ignoring Jessica's calls. She runs through the house, down the stairs and to the workshop. J.A.R.V.I.S lets her in and sets the code so that no one else could enter. Finally, Lily goes to one of Tony's cars and hides underneath it. She bends her legs and hugs them to her chest. The only thing that can be heard in the workshop are the uncontrollable sobs of the girl.

Bare My Soul {Jon Snow x Reader Oneshot}
Requested by: Anonymous Wordcount: 3865 Summary: You couldn’t have picked a more unfortunate time to tell Jon Snow how you feel.
The people of Winterfell were a lot like the place that they inhabited. They were tough, they were a bit weathered, they held strong against whatever came against them. It was a great place to be raised, in your opinion. There was nowhere better, and no one under whom you would want to be a ward of than Eddard Stark. Living under his rule was better than anything you could have imagined if you had stayed in King’s Landing with your mother, where your father Arthur Dayne had served the former King. You might have been raised a Princess, but you were not the petty sort. That was more so for the likes of the girl who was like a sister to you, Sansa. There was another reason why you liked to be here so much, and that reason had a name - Jon Snow.
He had been one of the first to comfort you when you had been exiled from your home and brought here to live in an entirely new environment. It had taken you a while to thrive under these new circumstances, and he had been with you through each step. You initially depended on Theon, a fellow ward, but he had an easier time coming to terms with everything, and instantly became like a brother to Robb Stark. For you, things were slower. Harder. But those first few years taught you to be thankful for what you had, to rise above any of the negative thoughts, to accept challenges head on because there were very often amazing rewards. Such as an amazing family full of brothers and sisters - and Jon, who you always set apart from the rest.
You’d had a crush on him since you first saw him, with his thick black curls always just a touch too long. He was rather shy, quiet, and was treated different from everyone else. Perhaps he saw the same thing in you and why you two became such kindred spirits. Being about the same age, you had the same lessons together in everything - horse back riding, reading, writing, self-defense. The latter of which only because Ned didn’t believe that you should be learning to sword fight as a lady. But that was fine, because you grew up believing that you would always have your big brothers and Ned there to protect you.
Becoming a teenager was not an easy thing, whether a male or a female. You were lucky to have Catelyn Stark to walk you through your feelings and your changes, but you weren’t expecting just how big these things were! The things that you felt when you looked upon Jon almost seemed ... sacrilegious. So you kept yourself busy as much as you can, employing your time with things like needlework and sewing. It was meticulous but dreary work, but at least it kept your mind off of Jon, and what he could be doing right now. Once in a while, you would sneak a peek out your window and see him and Robb working on their sword skills, clashing against one another without actually attempting to cause any pain. It was a surprisingly nice day for Winterfell, and they were just wearing tunics with arms exposed.
His biceps were all that you could think about for three days, which confused you because who gets all swoony over biceps? You couldn’t even ask Catelyn about it because she would disapprove immediately of any feelings for people within the castle. Curiously, the thoughts evolved to those of his leg muscles, which were quite toned as far as you could tell. You hadn’t seen him wear anything less than pants so you could only assume.
During dinner time, you gazed over in his direction more times than you had wanted to, only to be pulled out of it by Arya nudging you to get to the bread. At least she could always be counted on to bring you back to reality. You passed over the basket of bread, taking a small amount for yourself, then allowed your eyes to return to where you were looking before. To your surprise, you met his dark ones which were situated right on you. At the exact same moment, you both turned away, missing the blush that appeared on each other’s cheeks.
-
You thought that after being a teenager, you would get used to change, but now that you grew older, and were past the age that most women of your standing would be getting married, things were getting more and more confusing. You searched for something that would stay the same, and the only thing that appeared to be like that was Jon. Reliable, stoic, moody old Jon Snow.
He had the same routine for over a decade now, and you knew it off by heart. He would take walks at the same time, fight with Robb at the same time, eat at the same time, snack at the same time, visit the horses at the same time, even take his direwolf Ghost out at the same time each day. There were a few times when he deviated, and your paths crossed, which you hoped for each and every time you woke up in the morning.
Today, though, as you rose up from your bed, with the thin morning light coming in through your slotted window, you felt a change was coming. The King was coming to Winterfell, and with him, the Lannisters. You narrowly escaped being picked to be Joffrey’s betrothed and a future Queen, and you were forever grateful to Ned for that. He had pointed out to his friend, the King, that you were just the daughter of a knight, not one of a Lord or a high-ranking noble. This had lead to the decision that Sansa was to be a contender.
You dressed quickly into your best dress for the occasion. It wasn’t everyday that you were going to meet the King and his Queen. The gown that you had chosen was of a light blue color, high-necked with ruching all around. The fabric of the sleeves was lighter, just about see through to show off your shoulders. It was a special gift from Catelyn for your last birthday, as you needed a new gown to show off how you have become a woman. It was accentuated with a white belt that matched the snow that often fell on this place. Your hair was styled upwards, with many pins keeping it up. A couple of splashes of cold water on the face to bring out a natural flush was all that you needed, and you were ready to descend and wait with your family for the King to come.
As you left your chamber, you came face to face with Jon. His hair was pushed back out of his face and held with a bit of wax, styled nicely for the occasion. “Heading down?” He asked. You nodded, closing your door behind you, as a lady’s room should only be seen by her and her chambermaids.
“You look nice, Jon,” You said, taking in the fur coat, and his dark and sparkling eyes. It wasn’t the first time that you had complimented him and it was unlikely to be the last.
“You do too, y/n.” He said, a small smile playing at his lips. “Shall we go down together?”
“I’d like that,” You nodded. It would be improper for you to hold hands, or even to link arms, so you had to settle for walking by his side. Everyone else must already be lined up outside for there was not a soul to be seen inside of the castle. The staff must be working on the feast that would be served tonight, for even they could not be found. “I suppose we’re going to have to be kissing the rear of the King and Queen the whole time they’re here, aren’t we?” You said, making a joke. You were at least comfortable doing that, since you had been doing it since you were a child. Jon let out a surprised chuckle, clearly not expecting that.
“I suppose we are,” He said. “Just don’t let Dad hear you say that.”
“Or Catelyn.” You said with a shudder.
You might have been taken in as one of the Starks but you noticed that Jon had not. The word ‘Bastard’ had been thrown around a lot, and when you found out what it meant, you couldn’t understand how it was an insult. More than once you had witnessed Catelyn being rude to Jon, and had asked her why, but she never gave you a good answer. It just made Jon all the more endearing.
“Definitely not,” He agreed. “The dress - it’s very nice.”
“Thank you,” You said, smoothing down the front of it. You didn’t have any more time to talk, for you reached the front gates, and went to your respective positions. You were beside Theon as the Ward, while Jon hung even further back. You kept looking his way though, because he did look good today. And you could have sworn that he was looking right back at you. Your cheeks stayed pink, not because of the cold water from earlier, nor because of the chill in the air.
-
You had a bit too much wine during dinner. You felt the eyes of Cersei on you more than once, and felt an almost jealousy coming off of her. You had asked Catelyn about it when you had a moment alone, and your motherly figure assured you that it was because she took a dislike to any beautiful young woman who might catch her husband’s eye. You shuddered at the thought of the King thinking that you were beautiful, or trying to seduce you. “I may just go on a stroll before bed, I’m feeling a bit warm,” You told her. She nodded, and sent you on your way.
On one of the open walkways that looked out at the courtyard, you paused as you thought you saw some drunk nobles stumbling back home. It was hilarious to watch so you leaned against the short wall and watched.
“It’s getting a little cold,” Jon Snow’s voice said after a couple of minutes. He joined you, standing a short distance away and leaned over to watch as well.
“I’m still feeling a bit warm,” You admitted. “I might have had a little too much wine,” You finished this with a giggle, further proving your point.
“I was watching,” He said with a chuckle of his own. “You seemed to be uneasy. Are you alright?”
“You know what - I’m not great!” You announced, turning to face him. “I was hoping that this visit would be smooth sailing, but Joffrey seemed like a -”
“Keep your voice down,” Jon whispered, but you carried on.
“-a not very nice boy, the King does not act at all proper, and the Queen dearest was staring at me, no, more like, glaring at me! And do you know why she was staring at me? Because she saw me as a threat to her husband. How outrageous is that?”
“I wouldn’t say it’s outrageous,” Jon said, but you continued on before he could say too much more.
“As if I would ever want to sit on the lap of that man, like the loose women do. Oh yes My King, the smell of roasted mutton does suit you very well! Oh no my King, that tunic doesn’t make you look like a wild boar at all!”
Jon quickly put his hand over your mouth, and dragged you back to the stone wall, out of the ear shot of anyone who might be listening below. “Keep your voice down! You could be killed for saying some of those things!”
“Let them kill me then. Show them that I am owned by...” You noticed at that moment just how close to you Jon was, and that his hand was still lingering quite close to your mouth. It made you feel even warmer, having him near. Your eyes were on his, steam from both of your breaths meshing together in the small space between you two. “No one,” You said, a lot softer than before. “Jon? I - I might be a little drunk from the wine, but there’s something I want to tell you.”
“I have to tell you something too,” He said with a short sigh. But he didn’t move back. You were against the wall, feeling the cold stones against the thin fabric of your dress. Your hair was coming undone from the style that you had put it in, and thin tendrils were descending towards your shoulders.
“I want to say it first,” You said. Jon lowered his hand from where it was and nodded. But he was ready to cover your mouth once more if you said anything bad about the King and his family, no matter how warranted it was. “I’ll never belong to anyone, Jon Snow,” You breathed heavily. “Unless it is you who would have me.”
Jon studied you for a second. You couldn’t read his eyes. You were starting to grow light headed and rested even more against the back wall, nervous for his reaction.
“You’ve had a lot to drink tonight, perhaps we should speak in the morrow.”
“Don’t you dare do that,” You said, pushing him away from you now. Being close to him didn’t seem like it was as good an idea as it had before. “I’ve been in love with you since I was a child. Since I can remember. And if you don’t feel the same way, then that is fine, I can accept that. I hope that you find someone who makes you happy. But don’t you dare tell me that I’m lying. Or that I’m only saying it because I had too much to drink. If anything, the wine gave me the courage!”
Jon took your push quite easily, barely taking two steps back. He still remained quiet, as stoic as ever. It was lucky that you had learned how to wait for him. He had to rub his two brain cells together before coming up with what to say. You crossed your arms in front of your chest. “Well? Either break my heart or make it whole, I do not much care wish, as long as you say something.”
That was a lie, you did care. You cared very much. But you needed an answer. Your heart was beating so quickly in your chest, you could feel it throughout your whole body.
“I love you, y/n Dayne,” Jon Snow told you. That was all that you needed. The alcohol did the rest. You closed the distance, throwing your arms around his fur-lined shoulders and kissed him with all of your might. It was a bit hard, a little messy, tasted like leftover dinner and wine but it was an amazing kiss nonetheless. One that you had dreamt about on more than one occasion. A warmth spread from the top of your head down to the tips of your toes. Jon’s arms went around your waist, hugging you close. When you finally had to breathe, you stepped back, your eyes wide and awestruck at what had just happened.
“You love me! Then we must tell your father, Jon. Perhaps he may let us wed! He tried to make matches for me in the past but I refused them all because the only person that I could picture being with is you. If he’s in a good mood, he may just say yes!”
“I cannot wed,” Jon said, the happiness that he had been feeling slid off of his face. You’ve never seen him look more sorrowful in all of your life. You took hold of his hand and squeezed it.
“If it’s because you’re a bastard, you know that I don’t care. And neither does your father. We might get some opposition from Catelyn but if it really all that bad, we can run away! Take different names! Live as if we are a married couple. The Gods would surely forgive us.”
“I didn’t come here to tell you that I love you,” Jon said, turning away. “I wish that you said nothing.”
“How can you be so cruel?” Now it was your turn to have your happiness disappear. “That’s the most heartless thing that I have heard you say. Were you just lying to me now? Mocking my feelings?”
“No!” Jon said, squeezing your hand. “I could never lie to you. You know me too well. You were always able to catch me.”
“And don’t you forget it,” You said, pointing your finger at him. You saw in his eyes that he was telling the truth. He felt the same way that you did. “So why can’t we get married? Why do you wish that I had said nothing?”
Jon let go of you, and ran his fingers through his hair, the wax melting away and the curls parting beneath his touch. He looked at you once more than looked away. He couldn’t say it to your face, which made you realize that whatever it was.. it was terrible. “Just tell me, Jon. Just tell me now,” You whispered.
“I’m going up north, to the wall. I’ve pledged myself to the Knight’s Watch. I’m leaving as soon as soon as I’m able.” Jon told you, still facing away.
You stared. And you stared. And you stared.
All of those good feelings that you had dissipated entirely. Now you felt cold. You felt raw. You felt as if you had been skinned and then salted.
“You were going to leave without telling me how you feel?” You asked, feeling glued to the floor. You couldn’t walk away from this conversation as much as you would like to. It had sobered you up quickly. “No - you have gotten better at lying, Jon Snow,” You whipped your hand away from his as quickly as possible, hiding it behind your back so he could not snatch it again. “Because I can’t see it in your eyes, but you cannot possibly love me. If you did, you wouldn’t bear the thought of leaving me, because that’s how I feel about you. I would have followed you anywhere, you know that, but you are going somewhere that I cannot go.”
Jon opened his mouth to say something but then closed it. The hallway was filled with a heavy silence until you broke it again. You shook your head at him, and walked backwards. “I wish I never cared for you, I wish I never met you.”
And with that, you tuned on your heel and went to your bedroom, locking the door behind you with a chair so that no one could possibly come in. You threw off your silly, frivilous gown and let it lie on the bed without you hanging it up properly. You crawled under the covers with it still there, and let your tears guide you to sleep.
-
Until the day that Jon left, you didn’t say a word to him. You refused to be in his presence unless it was absolutely necessary. And the worst part was - people had started to notice. Sansa had even left her ‘Joffrey’ mind-state to ask you if you and Jon had gotten into a fight, and if she should tell her mother.
“No - he’s leaving soon, and then things will get better,” You assured her, though you were not too sure of that yourself. Jon did sometimes linger near a doorway while you were in the room, such as in the library when you took your lessons with the maester, but otherwise, it was hard to spot him anywhere. He kept to himself, packing his things and preparing for his journey.
When he was about to set off, you were in your room, watching from the window. He was packing up the horse that he was taking, with the youngest Lannister going with him - Tyrion. He looked up and caught your eye, but you turned away and ducked against your wall so he could not see your tears. Despite the best efforts of the maids, your gown was in wrinkles on the bed. May Catelyn forgive you for this for you would never forgive yourself if you did not.
Using your sewing scissors, you cut the high neck off of the gown, knowing you could fix the hem later. With it flying between your fingers, you ran out of your room and descended down the stairs, nearly tripping over the stupid long skirt that you were wearing. You rushed out into the courtyard to see Jon getting onto the horse, slipping his feet into the stirrups.
“Wait!” You called out, hair flowing loose behind you since you had not intended to leave your bedchamber today. Jon steadied the horse but did not hop off. He had those sad eyes again, the look he’d had since you two had talked in the hallway. You approached slower this time, not wanting to startle the horse, and lifted up the fabric for him to take. “Please - don’t forget about me.”
Jon did take it, running the fabric through his fingers. He lifted it to his face and took a deep breath of it - it smelled of you still. “I never could, y/n,” He said your name tenderly.
The rest of his company grew restless to the point where he was tutted at. “If we want to make good time, we must leave now,” Tyrion said from inside of his carriage.
You pleaded with Jon through eyes alone, begging for him not to go. It wasn’t too late for him to change his mind, he could get off of his horse, he could stay here with you...
But he didn’t. Instead, he tied the piece of fabric around his wrist. “It’s for the best, y/n,” He said, turning his horse around so he could no longer see you. Evading you, more like.
“For whom?” You asked. You were given no answer in return, just the sound of the horse neighing as it trotted it’s way towards the gate and away from you. You stood there until he was out of sight, and then an hour more, willing it with all of your heart that he would turn back and you would see him galloping his way back towards you.
But nay. Night came along and the weather became frosty, forcing you inside, forcing you to change the way you thought of your life for if the man who claimed he loved you ran away ... well, you had a lot of thinking to do.

For the first time, Dean’s sleeping with a woman other than you. You remember Cassie, her satin-pretty skin, sweet voice, and with that came the memories of Dean coming home from a night out with her, cheeks flushed, clothing disheveled.
You and Dean aren’t a thing, technically. But it still stings, knowing that he’ll take another woman over you.
Sam, on the other hand, isn’t nearly as moody as he’d been lately. On the way back from getting food, you’d spotted him in the crappy motel gym, doing pull-ups on the small set-up in the corner. His lanky body shows promise of muscle, and sweat glistens on his skin. If he keeps this up, he’ll be a beast within just a couple years.
You’re halfway through a cheeseburger and a Golden Girls rerun when Sam comes back, bare-chested with a towel slung over his neck. His jeans are dripping wet; evidently, he’s taken a dip in the motel pool to cool off.
“Hey.” He eyes the brown paper bag. “What’cha got?”
“Burgers.” You pull his special one out of the bag and set it on the table. “Got one for you, thought you might get hungry. No pickles.”
Sam exhales sharply and nods his appreciation before grabbing the food and unwrapping it. His nose curls as he takes a large bite, and he sighs in satisfaction. “This is good,” he says, sitting down on the one chair that isn’t wobbly. “Where’s Dean?”
A pang of annoyance shoots through your gut. “With Cassie.”
Sam immediately catches the tone of your voice and looks up. “You’re upset?”
“Hell yeah, I’m upset,” you snap, a little harsher than you wanted. “I’m sorry, I just… I guess I forgot how much he likes to sleep around.”
“Talk to him about it.” Sam chews thoughtfully on his burger. “This thing with Cassie… you know how deep in it he was with her.”
“Sam, she was his first girlfriend, he was head over heels for her.” You feel the tears start to well up, and you set your food down, quickly wiping them away. “It’s fine, I’m just jealous and it’s stupid.”
Sam doesn’t speak for a while. When he finally does, his tone’s a little deeper, something there you’ve never heard before. “If you need anything, you know I’m here.”
You narrow your eyes. “What do you mean by anything?”
“I mean,” Sam sets his burger down and clears his throat, “I know it’s… we’ve known each other for a long time, since we were kids, and…”
“So, wait…” you sit up, folding your legs underneath you, “you’re open to…”
“Sex?” Sam shrugs. “Why not? You and Dean aren’t, y’know, a thing. Doesn’t mean you and I can’t…”
You think about it. It’s true that you and Dean aren’t strictly together. It’s always been just sex. And Sam’s right there, an apparently willing young man who could probably go all night. But he’s just lost his girlfriend not six months before… he’s not ready to move on.
“We’ve never—” you stammer, “you and I never… are you sure?”
Sam’s eyes darken, and he stands up, pacing over to the bed. “I always thought about you,” he says, “when we were teenagers. Always got off to the thought of you sucking my cock or getting to fuck you when we were alone for those weekend hunts Dean and my dad used to do.” He kneels on the bed, taking your food from your hands and setting it on the nightstand. “Been thinking about that again lately. A lot.”
You swallow as he dips his head to nuzzle the side of your neck. The heat radiating off his skin is arousing in and of itself, and when one of his hands skims up your bare thigh and dips just below the fabric of your pajama shots, you practically melt for him.
“Sam,” you whisper… “are you sure?”
In answer, he kisses you, breathing in deep as you lean up, trying to get closer. His lips aren’t as full as Dean’s, but damn, the boy knows how to kiss. He slips one hand around the base of your skull and moves forward, pushing you onto your back. He’s already hard, and you moan when he grinds himself against you, his jeans still wet enough to soak through the fabric of your pajama shorts.
You pull back to tug your shirt over your head, and when Sam sees your breasts, he lets out a primal growl and dips his head, sucking one nipple into his mouth. You arch up at the sensation, hands tangling in his hair and holding his mouth to your breast.
He makes quick work of your pajama shorts, groaning with need when you pop the button on his jeans and slide your hands over his ass, edging the still-damp fabric down. His length falls onto your stomach, warm and long and thick. You’ve stared at it a few times, knowing he likes to grab a peek at you as well, but you’ve never imagined the youngest Winchester is packing that much below the belt.
Sam notices you hesitation, but takes it in stride. “What’s the matter?” He presses his nose into your cheek. “Scared?”
You cup his balls in one hand, squeezing lightly and raking your nails over the soft skin. Sam shivers and growls in response, the sound rumbling high in his throat. “Not at all,” you grin, nipping his chin. “But we need a condom.”
The encouragement only causes Sam to growl posessively and claim your mouth with his again before standing up and going to his bag. There’s a brand new pack of condoms in the front pocket, and as he pulls one out, you wonder if maybe he’s planned ahead, just in case this happens.
He rips it open as he strides back over and kneels on the bed, sheathing himself in the thin latex and adjusting the ring at the base around his shaft. He comes back to cover you, and his body presses yours down into the mattress. Your mouth falls open when he takes his cock in one hand, sliding the thick head through your folds.
“Wetter than I thought,” he grins against your lips and shifts his hips, quickly finding your entrance and notching himself there. “Fuck, Y/N…”
You grab his shoulders as he starts to push inside, a loud whimper leaving your throat. He’s big, but you’re wet enough that he easily slides in, the stretch enough to make you hold your breath. Both of his massive arms curl over your shoulders, holding you still underneath him as he rolls his hips, easing his cock further inside you.
“That’s it,” he murmurs, his chest heaving with the effort of holding back, “that’s it, Y/N…”
You spread your legs wider, changing the angle of your hips, and that does the trick. With a soft thrust, he slides the rest of the way in, bottoming out against your cervix and emitting a primal groan. “Oh fuck, Sam,” you gasp, “fuck… fuck me…”
Sam looks down at you as he starts moving, long, slow rolls of his hips that make you shudder at the sensation of him filling you. His cheeks are flushed, pink lips now slightly swollen and parted. Every muscle in his body tenses, and when you rake your nails down his back, his thrusts grow stronger and more passionate. His warm skin slide deliciously over yours, and you wrap your legs around his waist, tipping your head back to try and get some air.
“Shit,” Sam breathes, “you’re so fucking good… so pretty…”
You clench at his words, and he stiffens, his hips pressing hard against your ass. His fingers graze your cheek, and when he starts thrusting again, his movements quickly become quick snaps and grinds that have you melting underneath him. You can’t hold back any more, and all kinds of sounds begin to fly from your lips. Sam’s vocalizations increase too, and you’re pretty sure anyone within a two-room vicinity could hear you.
“Just like that,” you groan, one hand sliding down to hold Sam’s waist as he begins to pound into you, the other sliding between your bodies to rub your clit. “Like that, Sam, make me fuckin’ cum…”
Sam squeezes his eyes shut and tilts his hips, dropping them down so hard your skin smacks together. Your orgasm starts to build, and you arch your back, trying to get him to go faster. When you curl your legs around his waist, he takes the hint, holding himself over you and snapping his hips against yours.
“I’m gonna cum,” he mutters breathlessly, “cum with me…”
You sling your free arm around his neck, holding him as close as possible as your orgasm starts to crest. Your legs tremble on either side of Sam’s hips, and you can’t hold back the loud, gasping sobs of pleasure as he pushes in deep and cums hard. The rapid throbbing of his cock is the final kick you need, and you hold him tighter as your orgasm crashes over you.
It takes several minutes for you to relax enough to let Sam slip out of you, his cock still half-hard despite the strength of his orgasm. He slumps beside you, one arm still curled over your stomach.
“Wow.” You stare up at the ceiling, blinking slowly as you slowly come back to earth. “Sam, that was…”
He kisses your shoulder and lays his head on the pillow beside you. “Yeah… it was great.” Then he takes a sharp breath. “Hey… you know you don’t have to worry about me, right?”
You exhale softly and brush a finger over his lips. “I know… I just can’t help it. I want you to be okay.”
He nods and pulls you close, kissing you gently. “I’m fine.”
***
Dean returns early the next morning. The curtains are closed, as usual, and the lights are off. When he enters the main room, however, the sight that meets him is nothing like what he expected.
You and Sam are cuddled up under the sheets. His arm’s curled around your shoulders, his fingers barely brushing the top of your bare breast. Your head is on his shoulder, and his jaw rests against the top of your forehead. His jeans are piled on the floor, along with your shirt and pajama shorts.
Anger wells up inside Dean’s chest, and without thinking, he grabs his brother’s pants from the floor and throws them onto his bare chest. Sam jerks awake instantly, reaching under his pillow for a weapon that Dean knows isn’t there.
“Dude, what the—?”
“We’re leaving in thirty,” Dean growls, watching Sam blink in confusion.
“What?” Sam stares up at his brother, then down at you. Surprisingly, you’re still fast asleep. “Dude, it’s fucking…” he checks the clock, “it’s not even seven.”
“I don’t care.” Dean shoots an icy glance at your sleeping form. “I’m gonna go put some gas in the car. When I get back, I want both of you ready to go. You got it?”
Sam sits up, holding the sheet over his hips. He knows exactly why Dean’s upset, but feels no remorse for what he’s done with you. “Yeah. We’ll be ready.”

A/N: I wrote this miniseries in the first person perspective of Drake Walker. It follows events in Book 1 of TRR, but not everything is as you’d remember it from the story. Some things have been altered to better fit this fanfic.
I really enjoyed getting into the brain of Drake, and I hope you like it too. He’s a stud, and I love his sexual, angsty mind.
There are THREE parts to this miniseries. They will be released tomorrow and the following day. Enjoy!

My name is Drake Walker and I have a dirty mind. I know what you’re thinking. Of course I have a dirty mind, I’m a guy, right? Well, I have to concede that one for that very fact, but it’s more than that. To me, a mind consists of three major influences that can make it dirty.
First, are the things you wish you could say to people, but it wouldn’t be proper including the wide variety of curse words known to the world. Next, are all the crappy experiences in your life that muddy up your outlook. I can admit, I’m snarky, angry a lot and a real pill sometimes, but it all comes with the territory. And last but certainly not least is sex.
What an incredible experience. So incredible that it’s constantly on my mind. Countless dirty questions fill my brain like when is the next time I’m going to fuck someone, where will it be, what position will she be in? Oh, the thoughts are endless. Throw in a particular woman? You’re fucked — mentally. That’s me right now, in case you were wondering. More on that in a bit.
The female body is the most beautiful work of art that God ever created — of course there are exceptions. Like when a woman has a smoking hot body but her personality is so hideous that her sex appeal is lost. At least to me it is. There’s plenty of those around, but thankfully, there are some that surprise you. The ones that have it all — endless talent, sense of humor, dazzling personality, and such stunning looks that you have to pinch yourself to make sure you’re not dreaming.
My brain has been working overtime ever since she walked into my life. Well, butted into my life is more like it. And it’s been hell. Everything was just fine before she came along. Not great, but fine.
I live in the royal palace in a small Mediterranean country called Cordonia. I know what you’re thinking and no, I’m not one of those stuck up noble pricks. My best friend might be the Crown Prince, but he’s not one of those pricks either. If he ever tried to be, I’d damn sure call him out on it. I wasn’t born into this life with a fancy title or hundreds of acres of land in my name.
I was born to wonderful parents, who despite their status as commoners in the kingdom, made me feel like I was the richest kid in the world. Not by money, of course, but with life experiences and lessons only those who work hard for a living can impart to their children.
My dad was a part of the King’s Guard in charge of protecting the two princes before he eventually moved up to Head Guard watching over the King and Queen. He’s Cordonian, born and bred.
My mom stayed at home with me and Savannah, my younger sister. She was born in a small town in Texas in the United States, but stayed in Cordonia after meeting my father during a European college trip she took with her friends.
They fell in love almost immediately and were each other’s best friends. I’ve always looked up to them. Always thought how great it’d be if I could find that too. I often dreamed of meeting a beautiful woman who I not only was in love with, but we were as close as two people could be. Friends, lovers, partners. What a fulfilled life I’d live.
Of course, that meant I’d have to actually find a woman who was willing to put up with my sarcasm, moodiness, and the permanent scowl on my face. And to be honest, it wasn’t looking that great.
Back to the dirty mind thing — don’t worry, I didn’t forget. As I was saying, a dirty mind can develop over time as a result of many things. And I’ve been through a lot in the 27 years I’ve lived on this earth. Okay, fine. It’s not as dramatic and horrible as some people have endured, but I’ve had my fair share of shit thrown at me.
My dirty mind, in particular, consists of many dirty words. You’re listening, so you might as well get used to it now. I cuss... a lot. You would too if you had to hang around the palace every day dealing with snobby, rich assholes who think their shit don’t stink, and that it’s perfectly okay to treat people beneath them like undignified trash. These people have no idea what life truly has to offer. All they care about is their political status in the kingdom, and how they can make more money doing as little for it as they can.
As you can imagine, I have to keep a lot of my thoughts to myself. Unfortunately, you’re going to have hear them all. Consider yourself warned.
My dirty mind also consists of all the shitty things that’s happened in my life that’s left a bad taste in my mouth.
Remember my dad? Head of the King’s Guard? Yeah, well, he was killed while attempting to save the king during an assassination attempt. That sure was nice growing up without a fucking father. I was 13. A brand new teenager with raging hormones and in desperate need of a strong, male role model to keep me on the straight and narrow. It fucking sucked. My dad was everything to me. He was a friend, a teacher, and the best father in the whole world.
When he died, I had to step up to be the man of the house. Sure, my mother was strong — she’d always been strong. But she was having a hard time coping with dad’s death. Savannah was only nine at the time, and was made fragile by the sudden and horrific change in her life.
I didn’t want my mom and sister to worry or feel unsafe with my dad being gone, so I immediately filled that role. And it was fucking hard at first. There was no time for me to cry or grieve because I had to be strong for my family. I had to show them it was all going to be alright even though I had no fucking clue if that was actually true.
My dad’s partner in the guard was Bastien Lykel. He was a great guy. About half my dad’s age, but just as competent. He learned a lot from my dad, but also brought natural talent of his own to the table. Anyway, after we lost dad, Bastien sort of stepped in for us. Not that he ever tried anything with my mom or pretended to be our father — he knew better than that.
On his off duty time, Bastien would spend most of it with my family. He’d tell us stories about working with our dad and help mom with any chores around the house. As time went on, Bastien kept up with what he could, but got increasingly busy with work as he moved up the chain in the King’s Guard.
Mom never really got over dad’s passing. I don’t blame her. I didn’t either. I still miss him every day. But she handled it differently. Money was a real struggle after he passed. It was something she constantly worried about.
Liam, my best friend and prince of Cordonia, talked his father into letting us move into the palace. The king was more than happy to oblige. He was grateful for my dad’s sacrifice so that he may live, and must have noticed how we were struggling. It was kind, and not what I expected as a commoner.
I was 16 by the time we had settled into our new digs at the palace. Savannah was over the moon about it. She always loved hanging around the noble girls her age. She was into all that crap. Fancy dresses, gaudy jewelry, fake smiles. Not that she assimilated to them. Thank God for that. Despite adoring that pretentious life, Savannah remained down-to-earth and never forgot her roots.
It wasn’t long after that when Mom left to move back to the United States. Yeah... wasn’t that swell? Not even a full-fledged adult yet and both parents were absent. Dad died protecting the king, but mom straight up left us. Don’t get me wrong. I love her and will always love her. I know she had to do what she needed in order to deal with losing dad. So did I. But it was hell on Savannah and me.
Mom must have noticed we were strong and independent enough to live on our own. We had stable living quarters at the palace, and were well taken care of in regards to basic needs: food, warmth, shelter. So... she split. Went back to her family ranch in Texas. We talk on occasion, but there’s definitely more than an ocean that comes between us. Hopefully, someday, we can repair that disconnect.
Okay, now that you know a little bit more about me, let me tell you about this girl. Her name is Bragnae Bennett. I first met her in New York when Maxwell, Tariq, and I took Liam to the States for a guy’s only trip — a bachelor party of sorts. Liam would soon have to choose a woman to marry that would eventually rule at his side as Queen of Cordonia. This trip was meant to forget about all of that and have fun – just us guys. At least that was my plan.
On the last night of the trip, we stopped in a crumby bar for a late dinner and drinks. And there she was wearing a white collared shirt, black pants and a maroon apron ready to take our order. Listen, the first time she strolled up to our table, my jaw nearly hit the floor. Luckily, she was looking at the other two as she introduced herself, which gave me a chance to wipe the figurative drool from my mouth.
Long, silky black hair pulled into a messy bun on top of her head, naturally tanned skin, sparkling amber eyes, and delicious curves that would elicit an arousing response in any man. And it did. Maxwell and Tariq were just as captivated as I was, not to mention Liam, who stepped into the bar a minute later. Now it was her turn to be captivated. Of course she was. They all were.
Liam stood six feet and two inches tall – two inches shorter than me, I might add – and he was nothing short of a blonde Adonis. The ladies already swooned for him because he was the prince, but take that title away, and he’d still have no problem adding notches to his bedpost. With his ocean blue eyes and well-proportioned body, Liam was every woman’s wet dream.
So, you can see why Bragnae would immediately turn her attention to him as he made his way to our table that night. We enjoyed our burgers, drank a ton of whiskey, and all stole glances at the goddess that was our waitress. Then, Liam boldly asked her to join us after her shift was over. A part of me was more than happy to have more time to look at her, but a bigger part was annoyed.
Obviously, she was taken with Liam, so there went my chance with her. I never stood a snowball’s chance in hell with women when Liam was around. Yes, I can admit that the good Lord blessed me with attractive features. Brown hair that looked good at any length with eyes to match, a strong jaw line, and the ability to chisel well-defined muscles on my body certainly helped me get laid. It damn sure wasn’t my personality. But with Liam there? It was no contest.
You’d think it’d be easy for me to hate the guy, but I can’t. He’s my best friend. My brother. We’ve been friends ever since we were kids, and we’ve always had each other’s backs. I’d do anything for him, and I have. Dropped out of college, a life I was keen on living away from Cordonia, and came back to keep Liam company after an attempt on his life. I wouldn’t give up my own happiness for just anyone. There’s few people I care about in this world, and Liam is one of them. The rest can all fuck off.
So, as you can see, I put up with all the bullshit for him. He needs me. He needs someone to give it to him straight, to keep him humble, and to keep him safe from all the selfish vultures that lurk around the palace wanting more for themselves than for their Crown Prince.
So, when Liam showed interest in Bragnae, I had no choice but to back off. It was stupid as hell for him to get her hopes up for the one night. Then again, maybe that’s all she wanted. A hook up. From what I understand, none of that occurred. At least a kiss and maybe some light fondling if I knew my friend. But whatever transpired between them that night after they snuck out of the club together was enough to prompt Bragnae to make a life changing decision to temporarily move to Cordonia for the chance to compete in the Social Season to win Liam’s hand.
Ugh. The Social Season. Don’t even get me started on that. As if Liam didn’t already have a parade of ladies vying for his attention, the kingdom made it a season for the prince to choose his future bride.
And Bragnae accepted Maxwell’s invitation to take part in it. I have to admit. I lost some respect for her when I saw her climb aboard our private jet back to Cordonia. I thought she was just another crown chaser, but believe me, I didn’t think that for long. She proved me wrong almost immediately.
I won’t bore you with everything that’s happened since she arrived in Cordonia, for your sake – unless you want me to tell you how many pathetic times I stroked my dick thinking of Bragnae, wishing I was inside her instead. Don’t worry, I’ll give you the highlights though.
Obviously, I wouldn’t be telling you any of this if the damned woman didn’t mean something to me. With her being a suitor for the prince, I knew she was off limits. Maybe that made me want her more. I don’t know. But she was more than just a pretty face and a sexy body. God, the dresses she wears. I get hard just thinking about it. The way she elegantly walks into a room, swaying her hips in an unknowingly sexy way grabs my attention every time. I’m not the only one.
Being the exotic foreigner, Bragnae had captured the attention of many men and even some women with her alluring ways. She truly was the complete package. She knew how to have a good time, spoke her mind, and was gracious, even to those who didn’t reciprocate. And oh boy, did she give me the business. Still does. It’s like I’m her number one target that she attempts to crack. She always wants me to have a good time. What did I do to invite that kind of attention from her?
I’m quite set in my ways, but damn if she hasn’t already broken down some of my walls. I hate her for it. Okay, more like, I hate that she was able to do it. She makes me smile, damn it, and I’ve worked on this scowl for years. How could she do this in such a short amount of time? I’ve come to the conclusion that she’s some sort of temptress. She has to be. Someone with mystical powers of enchanting men, and bending them to her will.
Yeah, I’ve got it bad, but there were specific occasions that led me to believe she might also be into me as well. I know, I know. As I’ve already established, no woman passes up Liam especially for someone like me. So, I’m sure I’m fantasizing about this.
Aside from a few looks and smiles she had cast in my direction at the Masquerade Ball and derby, there were some instances that felt deeper. Like when we went to Lythikos, and that witch Olivia mocked me and my sister for no reason whatsoever except to be cruel. Bragnae stood up to her for my sake, which I wasn’t expecting. I hauled ass out of there wanting some fresh air and a chance to see a meteor shower. Low and behold, Bragnae followed me out.
We ended up having a heartfelt talk that came out of nowhere. I think this was the first time I really started to like her. I was attracted to her from the beginning, but it was when we were lying in a snowbank looking up at the shooting stars above us when I felt a twinge in my heart. I badly wanted to reach out to her, but knew that wasn’t appropriate. As the snow started the fall and we walked back to Olivia’s estate, Bragnae surprised me by slipping her hand into mine.
I instantly felt electricity from her touch. I was almost too stunned to speak. She told me it was for safety, but I could see the truth in her eyes. We had connected in that moment, and holding her hand felt right. There was no way I was letting go. So, we held hands until we reached the manor. Everything changed for me after that night.
Perhaps it was just me and my wishful thinking, but ever since we left Lythikos, I felt that Bragnae was intentionally getting closer to me – physically. It seemed she would find ways to touch my arm during a conversation or sit by me when the opportunity presented itself.
After the Royal Regatta, we went to the beach for a little fun in the sun. She insisted on rubbing sunscreen over my back. I protested only for appearances. Thank God only the ocean could see my face because I was having a hard time keeping my sanity as she rubbed her soft hands up and down my shoulders and back. It sent a shiver down my spine.
Then, she let me return the favor. God, it was amazing. I had a legitimate excuse to touch her… in public… and she was wearing a swimsuit. Up until that day, I hadn’t see more than flirty cleavage when she wore her dresses. She was so close to being naked that day that my heart nearly stopped. As I worked my hands over her back, my eyes traveled down to her glorious ass. Her cheeks slipped out a bit. As soon as I felt my dick twitch, I knew it was time to bail.
We jumped in the ocean soon after that. Seeing Bragnae dripping wet from head to toe quickly moved to the number one slot in my spank bank. The release I had later that day after remembering our shared touches, and seeing her so deliciously drenched by the ocean was amazing.
And just a few days ago, after we arrived in Applewood, it was my birthday. Liam told Bragnae even though I asked him to not make a big deal about it, damn him. So, Bragnae took it upon herself to organize a night out at a country-western bar in town in honor of my birthday.
If it was anyone else’s suggestion, I would have heartily declined, but I was curious what she had planned, and definitely wanted to see her in a bar setting with a cold drink in her hand. When we arrived, she took me up to the bar and got me a free drink. She chose whiskey – my favorite. She didn’t make me suffer with some embarrassing girly drink. No, she ordered my most favorite libation on the planet.
I let it slip that I thought she was hot, and of course she called me out on it. There was nothing this woman missed. Later on, we found ourselves on the dance floor, and of all people, she shimmied over to me. Even though I told her I was a rotten dancer, she delicately placed her hands on my hips and told me it was as easy as swaying to the beat. She smiled up at me with a glimmer in her eye.
I could chalk it up to it being my birthday, and that’s why I received so much of her attention that night, but the vibes I was receiving from her was more than a friendly gesture. And as if that night wasn’t already better than I anticipated, I willingly shared a sappy story about my childhood birthdays with her, which prompted an unexpected embrace from Bragnae. She pulled me in tightly, her breasts smashed against my chest and her arms clutching my back as she stood on her toes to hug me.
I was stunned for a split second before my brain told me to wrap my arms around her soft, warm body too. She smelled like a fucking angel – citrusy and sweet. It’s my new favorite scent.
You’re all caught up now. Maybe you see what I do, and maybe you don’t. Either way, I’ve got Bragnae on my mind constantly, and it’s becoming a problem. I even began calling her by her last name in an attempt to seem nonchalant and casual on the outside, when I’m really about to hulk out of my own skin because I want her so badly. Hopefully, she couldn’t tell.
I’ve been trying to hide it for the past month now, and it’s becoming more difficult by the day. I don’t want to tell her how I feel, even though I really do want her to know, it’s not right. She’s here for Liam, and that’s that.
It was the morning after the Apple Blossom Festival. Thank Christ that bullshit is over. Bragnae looked cute in her authentic peasant costume, but that was the extent of the excitement for that day. Now, it was time to blow off a little steam.
Liam was actually available this morning for a little work out before he had to attend a few meetings later on in the afternoon. It was nice to have this time with him. Liam had been my work out buddy since we were old enough to start using the gym equipment, which is why both of us are exceptionally toned and buff. I spend a little more of my time in the gym than he does – sometimes three times a day when I’m really bored.
“So, is your dad putting pressure on you to pick a particular suitor?” I couldn’t help but wish they were pushing him away from Bragnae.
“Yes, of course, he is. He and Regina both keep talking up Madeleine.” Liam continued his set of bicep curls.
“And what do you think about her?” I knew what he thought because I thought it too. Again, just hoping for his attention to be swayed to anyone but Bragnae. I focused on pumping up my own biceps as I waited for his response.
Liam gave me a knowing look through the mirror. “She wasn’t good enough for my brother, and she’s definitely not good enough for me. I hate that they’re pushing her onto me like this. I feel bad for her in a way,” he said as he returned the weights to the rack. “She was so close to becoming queen before Leo abdicated the thrown, and now she’s back to try again. It’s pathetic.”
I loved when he was candid with me. He knew he can trust that I wouldn’t repeat his words. That’s what best friends are for. Support and total discretion. “She’s passionate at least,” I laughed thinking about her desperate need for the political spotlight.
Liam wiped his face with a towel. “Passionate for the crown, maybe. But me? It’s all a fucking show. If she’s chosen, I doubt we’ll even fuck. She hasn’t once tried to kiss me when we’ve had moments alone. All the others have. I don’t even think she likes men.”
All the others have. I shuddered at the thought of him being with Bragnae. I hoped to God they hadn’t had sex yet. I haven’t quite figured out what type of woman she was in that regard. What I do know is that she’s smart and adventurous. She dresses provocatively, but with a certain elegance. Who knows if she’s promiscuous or not?
I’m torn on the topic. I love a bold woman who knows what she wants and takes it. It’s nice when a girl comes with experience, but she’s also not just giving it away to anyone who asks for it. If that’s how Bragnae was, I would be happy to know that. Still, I couldn’t bring myself to ask Liam if they’ve gone that far. We’ve talked about sex plenty of times, but this was different. It might be too hard to listen to Liam tell me about how she was in bed. It’s something I’d rather find out for myself.
“Yeah, Madeleine stands out to the masses, but definitely not your style.”
Liam took a swig of water. “I’ll tell you, though, I really like Bragnae.”
Fuck. “Oh, yeah?”
“Drake, she’s amazing. She’s not only beautiful, but she’s insightful too. I feel like I can tell her anything. The people seem to like her, the press too. I’m really hoping my father and Regina give her a chance.”
Damn it. He really likes her. Am I fucking surprised? No. She is amazing. No doubt about that.
“What do you think of her?” Liam asked.
How do I answer this without making it sound like I really like her too? “I think she’s great. She doesn’t seem to have her head in the clouds like most of these women, and she’s genuine. You know that’s always something I can appreciate.” Okay, that was good. Very Drake of me to say. I think that was good enough and wouldn’t blow my cover.
“I’m glad you agree.” He said, taking a seat on one of the benches. He looked down at the floor with a smile on his face. “That body. She’s so fucking hot. I wish I could spend more time alone with her. I hate the fucking tight schedule they keep me on.”
I blew out a slow breath of relief. Sounded like he hasn’t gone all the way with her. Normally, at this point, he’d be boasting about his opportunity to be with her, but instead he was pining over it. But how long would it last?
“Yeah, I can imagine how rough it is.” They pull him in every direction they can. I wish he’d just tell them to shove it up their ass once in a while. “You’re the prince, man. Do what you want.” Why the fuck am I encouraging this? I hate myself.
Loud music was suddenly audible through the walls alerting us both. As we left the gym, Liam and I walked down the hall to a room where the door was cracked open a bit. Liam pulled it open the rest of the way, and halted in his tracks.
I noticed a stunned look on his face before I saw what was happening inside the room. I stepped up to the doorway, next to Liam, and saw Maxwell leading a choreographed dance flanked by Hana and Bragnae. My mouth fell open in shock as my eyes poured over Bragnae’s body.
She wore a hot pink sports bra top and black spandex leggings that were glued to her skin. Kevin Rudolf’s Let it Rock blared over the speakers as they danced in sync with each other. The beat was fast paced and lively. I actually liked the song – even more so now that I watched Bragnae dance to it.
She moved with ease, spinning, dipping, twirling in rhythm with the song, and it was mesmerizing. The way her hands explored her own body so seductively made my dick jump. Oh, fuck. She just bent over. Now, she and Hana were slowing it down, mirroring each other as they slowly dropped to their knees on the floor. Pumping their bodies on the ground and thrashing their long hair from side to side. Within seconds, the ladies slowly rose again.
I glanced at Liam briefly to see his reaction. He was enthralled, just like me. I was rarely jealous of Liam, but this was definitely one of those times. Not because he was the prince, and not because Bragnae was one of his suitors, but because he could watch her now – unguarded. He could look at her without suspicion as to why he’s fucking her with his eyes.
If anyone saw the way I was watching her with insane hunger and need, they’d think I was a creep or an asshole for gawking at one of the prince’s suitors. How I wished I could look at her openly the way I wanted to. So much of my life nowadays was kept in secret because so much of my life was consumed by Bragnae.
I had no idea she could dance like this. It was like watching a strip tease, without the stripping of course. God, I wish she was taking off her clothes, too. Damn it. She was confident in her body as she thrusted her pelvis to the beat three times. And there went my dick again. I had to readjust because the pesky thing wouldn’t stay down. I was wearing athletic shorts. Thank God they’re black. My hard-on won’t be as prominent.
The song came to a close as the girls ended in a pose with their backs arched and an arm stretched above their heads. Maxwell did his own pose, not that I gave a shit about how he looked. My eyes were trained on Bragnae. My heart raced and I was breathing quickly all of a sudden. I hadn’t realized it until now. I wanted an encore… bad.
Liam started clapping, which got their attention. Fuck. I wasn’t ready to be exposed as an onlooker yet. My dick was still hard.
“That was phenomenal,” Liam said as he made his way over to them. The room they were dancing in was quite large. It was a multipurpose room used for collective work out routines such as their dance and whatever else the royal family wanted to use it for.
I watched Bragnae as she spun around to face Liam with a surprised expression. Apparently, despite the few times she turned around in our direction, she hadn’t noticed she had an audience. Then, her eyes focused on me. A brief smile crossed over her lips before she looked away. She was embarrassed? Why? That was unbelievably hot. If I could hit replay somewhere, I would.
My dick finally gave me a break, so I walked into the room to where they were standing.
“Are you three practicing for a show that I’m unaware of?” Liam asked with a sparkling smile.
Maxwell laughed. “Nah. The girls just wanted to work out in a fun way, so we put together a flirty routine. You know me. I’m always up for dancing.”
“Yes, and it was incredibly exhilarating!” Hana said with enthusiasm, albeit a bit breathless. “I’ve never danced like that in my life. My mother would have a heart attack if she saw that.”
Yeah, I bet she would. That dance was pure sex.
“And you, Lady Bragnae? Do you dance like that often?” Liam asked politely, but I knew he wanted to see if there’d be a repeat performance in the future.
We were both thinking with our dicks in that moment. And I couldn’t blame him. I was still in awe of what I just witnessed, so I was perfectly fine letting Liam speak to satisfy both of our curiosities. I did my best reconnaissance when I observed with my eyes rather than inquired with my mouth anyway – usually because my words would get me into trouble.
Bragnae nodded as she finished taking a long drink from a water bottle. Her chest glistened from the work out, and her quick and heavy breaths pushed her breasts out every time she inhaled. Goddamn. I raised my gaze to her eyes again in an effort to keep my dick out of the matter. No need to awaken him again. Not until I could at least be alone.
“I dance recreationally like this from time to time, but I’m not a part of a crew or anything. Just for fun.” Bragnae offered up a dazzling smile as she regained control of her breath again.
“I asked the other ladies if they wanted in on this, but Kiara declined saying she was too good for it. Penelope always mimics Kiara’s responses, so she was out. Madeleine acted like she didn’t even hear me when I asked, and Olivia said, and I quote ‘dream on, home boy’.” Maxwell shook his head and chuckled.
Liam extended his arm to the three of them. “Well, why don’t we all walk next door and grab a protein shake. Drake and I just finished working out as well.”
Hana’s face lit up with excitement at the suggestion, and Maxwell put some equipment away before he started for the door. I waited until Bragnae agreed before I turned to leave the room. I was sure Liam was waiting to walk next to Bragnae as they left the makeshift dance studio, so I wasn’t even going to try.
It was convenient for me that Liam also enjoyed working out, and considered it as much of a hobby as I did. That meant that as we got older, the gym equipment got better and there was a small protein stand built into the estate. Here at Applewood and back at the palace.
I made it to the counter first. With chocolate and vanilla protein powders as options, they also offered a few other flavors as add-ins. I would shake it up from time to time, but my favorite was chocolate-cherry. I placed my order with Jean, the middle-aged woman that worked the counter, and stepped back for the others.
Maxwell ordered a chocolate-banana, Hana got chocolate-strawberry. Like I guessed, Liam and Bragnae strolled up a minute later in a slow paced walk. He offered for her to order ahead of him, but she declined so she could look at the options. Liam asked for vanilla-strawberry, his favorite.
Bragnae stepped up to the counter. “May I have a chocolate-cherry, please?” Jean nodded, and turned away to fix the drinks.
I looked down to conceal my smile. She ordered the same thing as me. I knew she had good taste.
“Drake? Here you go, honey.” Jean placed my shake on the counter.
I walked up to retrieve it. Bragnae was still standing there when she looked over at my drink. I removed the wrapper to the straw Jean had set next to the cup, and pierced the plastic lid.
Bragnae’s eyes met mine as I smirked. “You ordered the same thing as me, by the way.”
She beamed. “I did? Well, we have good taste.”
“That’s exactly what I was thinking.” Before I could think of what to say next, Jean had placed the other orders on the counter. I got out of their way and walked to a nearby table. The others joined me along with their shakes.
“You know, ladies, you’re welcome to work out in the gym, too, if you want. Here and back at the palace. I’d be happy to show you a thing or two if you need assistance.” Liam, the ever-willing prince. I chuckled at his invitation. This was guy code for, I’d love to see more of you in your tight clothes while working up a sweat. And then maybe we could take a shower together afterwards.
I knew my best friend, and I knew myself. We were both thinking the same thing. However, I doubt that comment was intended for Hana even though she was also beautiful and beyond talented in almost every capacity.
“That’s nice of you to offer, Your Highness,” Hana said before taking a drink.
“We got quite the work out in today. Full-body. Do you guys do that every time you’re in the gym?” Bragnae asked. She looked to Liam and then to me.
Liam had just taken a swig of his shake, so I answered. “Nah. We break it up. Today was just arms and abs.”
I kept my gaze on Bragnae as her eyes shifted down the length of my arm. She had her elbows on the table holding her shake up just below her chin. Her fingers absentmindedly moved the straw in and out of the lid as her eyes locked on my bicep.
I know I shouldn’t have, but I knew she was impressed, so I clenched my fist and flexed my bicep for a split second to gauge her reaction. I smiled inside as I saw her lightly gasp before taking a drink and looking away.
“Ooh, Bragnae, we better get going if we want to shower before the next event,” Hana said looking at her watch.
Oh, nice. A shower. Are they going to shower together? That’s what Hana made it sound like, or maybe that’s what my dirty mind wanted me to hear. Either way, picturing Bragnae naked in a hot and steamy shower was definitely an image I wanted to fill my mind with. If Hana happened to be showering near her, that’d be okay too. But I’d prefer to be in there with Bragnae instead.
“And what is the next event for you ladies?” Liam asked.
Bragnae and Hana stood from the table, prompting the rest of us gentlemen to do the same. “We are having tea with the queen. All the ladies are expected to be there and on time.” Bragnae emphasized the last part with a different inflection in her voice and widened eyes.
Liam laughed. “Yes. It’s best not to keep her waiting.”
“Oh, I know. If I’m late for another event, Bertrand will give me a very stern talking to for ‘besmirching House Beaumont’.” Bragnae spoke emphatically, and teased Maxwell by pinching his cheek.
“You and me both,” Maxwell told her. “Now, get going, so Bertrand stays off both of our asses.”
Bragnae laughed and waved before turning to walk away. My eyes traveled down to her magnificently presented ass. There should be a standing rule that Bragnae always be in tight, spandex leggings when she wasn’t wearing a dress. Jesus Christ, she could stop traffic. And I’m getting hard again. Time to go.
“Alright, I’m going to get cleaned up as well. I’ll see you fellas later.”
~
The next day was the traditional fox hunt for the royal party. Our ancestors used to hunt fox for sport, but today, the event only retains its name. Good thing too because I bet over half of these so-called nobles had never even held a gun, let alone knew how to use it.
This was actually an event I was happy to be a part of. We had to ride horses across a three mile trail through the woods and a bit of the mountains. This was my forte. Growing up with a mother who lived on a ranch in her youth, I was practically raised on a horse. I got up early and headed to the stables to pick out my horse for the day before the fussing nobles ruined the experience.
Since Lonestar, my mother’s horse, was at the stables near the palace, I had to find a different steed. Natalia was always my choice when we came to Applewood. We got along well, and she was better for more experienced riders anyway. She liked to run, so I thought I’d take her out to the field before the fox hunt to stretch her legs a bit.
After she was saddled up, I hopped on, and led her out to the field to trot, being sure not to tire her out too much before the trail ride.
Before long, the nobles had assembled and the fox hunt had begun. I was at the end of the procession, but I led Natalia to the sidelines, so we could pass a few people. There was no way I was going to be stuck behind Penelope while she was telling her hundredth story about her poodles that morning. Plus, I wanted to find Bragnae.
After seeing how she ogled the muscles in my arm, and not Liam’s, I figured it was time to stop playing this game. I needed to start being nicer to her, and explain myself. She deserved that. And out of all the people I wanted to be a prick to, she wasn’t even on the list. So, it would end today.
As I made my way through the trail, the crisp air was refreshing. The woods surrounded the manmade path. It was beautiful, save for the bickering nobles. I shook my head in disgust at them. It was a shame they couldn’t appreciate what was around them. Just shut the fuck up, and enjoy the ride.
I finally saw Bragnae up ahead. She was on a black horse – oh, wait, that was the horse who won the derby. Huh. I wondered how she happened to possess her. Bragnae was riding alongside Hana who was showing her some sort of dressage move. I smirked thinking about Hana’s plethora of talent.
I wasn’t going to intrude on their moment, so I kept my pace and position in hopes that Hana would ride off eventually. My patience had paid off as Hana rode ahead a minute later. Now was my chance.
I squeezed my legs around Natalia and gave her a slight kick with my heels to give her the sign to trot ahead. When she approached Bragnae and her horse, I pulled back on Natalia’s reins to keep up with Bragnae’s horse.
“Hey, Bennett. You look nice.” She did, too. She managed to find a rider’s outfit. A maroon jacket and tight, brown pants with knee-high boots.
Bragnae pulled back in surprise. “Wow. Opening with a compliment, huh? You feeling okay?”
I chuckled. “Yep. Just fine.”
“I’m surprised to see you out here today. I would have figured all the nobles would have repelled your desire to join us.”
“This is actually something I love doing. Riding horses, I mean. And it’s entertaining to watch the stuffy nobles fuss over their blazers. It amazes me how much they’re missing what’s around them, though.”
“Is that why you’re smiling more today?”
I couldn’t help but smile again as I looked at her. “It has more to do with who I’m riding next to.”
She feigned a surprised gasp, complete with a hand over her heart. “A second compliment!”
“If you’re lucky, you might get a third.” I loved bantering with her. It was always fun.
“Oh, then let me find a four-leaf clover really quick.” She winked at me with that dazzling smile I liked so much.
I sighed giving Natalia a couple pats on her neck. It was time to be honest with her. I needed to explain why I’d been such an ass to her. “You know, when we first met, I wanted to dislike you so badly.”
Genuine surprise highlighted her face. “Why?”
“Well, you were crashing Liam’s bachelor party. That was supposed to be our last night out together before all this nonsense. I don’t get to spend much time with him, and now, I’m lucky if I get to spend five minutes with him before a noble girl throws herself in front of him.” I also didn’t want to like you because I knew I couldn’t have you. Wish I could tell her that.
I looked over at her to see a somewhat pained expression. “Sorry. I didn’t mean…”
“I knew what you meant.” There was compassion in her eyes. Thank God. The last thing I wanted was her thinking I was insulting her in any way.
“Anyway, I know we got off to a bad start, but somewhere along the way,” I paused to gather my courage, “…things changed.” I hope she could read between the lines.
“I wanted to dislike you too,” she replied.
Now it was my turn to be surprised. “You did?”
“Well, yeah! I mean, you were a total dick to me.” She turned toward her horse, stroking its mane. I was a complete dick to her, and I hated that I did that. “But now…”
“Now?” My nerves were making my hands shake. I gripped the reins tighter as I waited for her response.
“It took time, but I figured out that you’re actually human under all those scowls.”
I shook my head as a smile crept over my lips. She wove a joke into her reply, and it was the cutest damn thing. Now the air was cleared, and it felt good. “Well, this has all been touching, but I need to rescue Liam from his family for a couple minutes. I’ll see you later.”
“I hope so,” she grinned.
Damn, that went well. I heeled Natalia again to get her to trot towards the front of the procession.
Soon, the trail led everyone to an old village where we would all have dinner. I was starving and very much looking forward to eating the giant feast. As everyone got in line to be served, I saw Tariq and Bragnae talking just ahead of me. His body language suggested that he was into her. I knew from the bachelor party in New York that Tariq was attracted to her, but he hadn’t done much more than mention it at the time. Not that I saw anyway.
As I moved forward in the line, I watched Liam trade places with Tariq. His body language was even more obvious. Liam had it bad. I could easily recognize when he was really into a woman, and there was no mistaking it here. But the stakes were even higher this time around. Liam was looking to pick a bride, a future queen. I didn’t know if he was in love with her, but he’d been much more preoccupied with her than any other girl I’d seen him with.
Later that evening after we got back from the ride, I helped the stable hands corral the horses and take their saddles off before I headed to my room. It had been a long day, but despite the length of the ride and being outdoors all day, I wasn’t ready to call it a night.
I needed to see Bragnae again. For some reason, I felt that I didn’t get my fill of her today. Then again, I felt like that every day even when I was with her. Maybe she’d like to go to the gym with me for a late night work out. Would that be too obvious that I wanted to spend time with her?
I decided I didn’t give a shit about that. Some of her signals made it seem like she was into me, so maybe she’d be happy to come along. I changed into a razorback tank top and athletic shorts and made my way to her room. I hoped she wasn’t asleep yet or otherwise busy. Her room wasn’t too far from mine. Liam made sure of that. At the beginning of the Social Season he had asked me to keep an eye on her. At first, I was unsure about it, but that quickly changed. If anything, I was grateful that I had an excuse to be hanging around her.
I came up to her room, and the door was wide open. Does the woman not enjoy privacy? I peeked my head in the door frame searching the room with my eyes before spotting Bragnae straddling the floor, resting on her knees. Her hands pressed against the floor in front of her as she slowly moved up and down.
My eyes nearly bulged out of my head. What the hell was she doing? She was still wearing her riding pants, but had removed her blazer and took her hair out of the bun it was in, and cascaded it over one shoulder. I was frozen. Only my eyes could move.
Bragnae’s eyes were closed, and I watched as her full lips transformed in what looked like agony to relief. It was incredibly erotic to watch her in this way. My dirty mind pictured myself underneath her. I wouldn’t mind at all if she wanted to ride me like that. Seeing her now made it easy to imagine her legs squeezing my hips as she felt every inch of my dick inside her.
My hardened and impatient cock brought me out of my trance. I needed to make my presence known before someone noticed I was just standing in her doorway watching her like some fucking pervert.
“Need a hand there?” Fuck. That was my dick talking. Why did I say that? Fuck.
Bragnae’s eyes snapped open, and an embarrassed smile crossed over her lips. “Hey, Drake.”
“Whatcha doin’?” I was genuinely curious.
Bragnae slowly stood up. “I was just stretching. It’s been a while since I last rode a horse.”
Hmmm. Could that also mean it’s been a while since she’s ridden a man that way? I know if she rode a stallion like me, she’d be sore. No getting around that. Her inner thighs would strain to hold onto me as I would thrust into her over and over again making her come so hard she’d struggle to breathe after her screams of pleasure finally subsided.
I cleared my throat to push the thought out of my mind. “I ride pretty regularly, so I’m used to it by now.”
“What are you doing for the rest of the night?”
I’d love for the answer to be you. “I was actually going to head down to the gym, and I was going to ask you if you’d like to join me, but I guess you probably don’t feel up to it being sore from the ride.”
“No, I can still go,” she said immediately with a smile. “Just give me a minute to change.”
Wow. Cool. So, she doesn’t mind working out even as sore as she is. I didn’t want to get too excited, but I was pretty sure it was because of me. At least I hoped so.
I nodded after processing her response. “Yeah, sure. I’ll just be outside.” I closed her door behind me, and leaned against the wall.
My heart was starting to race again, and butterflies fluttered in my stomach. I took a couple deep breaths to calm my nerves. After another minute, her door opened and Bragnae emerged wearing an electric blue sports bra top, similar to the one she danced in, and black spandex leggings to match. Her stomach and lower back were completely bare.
My dick took over again. It was making my eyes get lost in her body that was standing so close to me that I could feel the heat between us. I had a sudden urge to tuck the tip of my finger just beneath her waistband, and roll it across her pelvis, undoubtedly making her tremble. My gaze traveled up to her top where the most spectacular cleavage I’d ever seen peeked out.
The tightness of her outfit pushed her breasts up and together. If I wasn’t mistaken, I was pretty sure she had pulled that zipper in the front of her top down even more than it had been the other day. She was flirting with her clothes, and I was completely onboard with that. If she only knew what her outfit was doing to me.
Thank Christ my brain woke up in time to save me from myself as my eyes returned to hers. “Shall we?”

I’m Gonna Stand By You
I Take Pride In What I Am 2020 Prompt: Brave Pairing(s): Silver & Gray, Rogue & Gray, Silver x Mika
A Collaboration by @mdelpin and @oryu404 AO3 | FF.Net
Summary: Gray didn't plan on coming out at his grandfather's 59th birthday dinner, but he couldn't take even one more of his grandfather's hateful opinions. Worried at how his family will react he hides away only to learn that he is not alone.
Gray age 15, Rogue age 12
June 1, 2006
The atmosphere had always been different whenever Gray’s grandparents were around. Tense and uncomfortable, and Gray knew that it had everything to do with his grandfather. It was a shame, really. His grandmother was actually quite nice, but he hadn’t looked forward to seeing her in a long time, and it was safe to say that he wasn’t the only one who felt that way.
Argent Fullbuster was an intimidating man. He was strict and harsh in his opinions, which he never kept to himself. On the contrary, he’d belt them out to anyone who would and wouldn’t listen, never being subtle when he voiced his criticism.
And he criticized a lot.
Few things seemed to be up to his standards. Even when he’d give his praise, he’d always find a flaw, and he never hesitated to point it out.
He’d commented on one of Gray’s passes when he’d come to watch one of his hockey games, even though they’d played an amazing game and won. He’d told Rogue he could’ve gotten a higher grade for his essay if he’d tried harder, even though he’d scored the highest grade in his class. Their parents were never spared either.
No one ever spoke too much about it, but now that Gray was a little older, he was more aware of how his parents’ behavior would change, starting well before a visit.
His mother would fret about cleaning the house, what to prepare for dinner, or making sure Gray and Rogue looked presentable. His father would become distant or get moody, burning through his cigarettes in no time.
Gildarts made sure not to be around, and Gray guessed that was a good thing. He couldn’t imagine the man keeping his mouth shut the way his parents did when Argent would go off about whatever displeased him. Cana had downright said she didn’t like him and would stay with her own grandparents whenever she got the chance.
Gray could see the extra effort his mother would always put in to please Argent, but it never seemed to make any difference. He and Rogue would too, they’d speak more politely and mind their manners. But Gray was getting sick of conforming to his grandfather’s impossible standards.
He was 15 years old. He didn’t want to be told what to do, what to say, or how to act anymore. And he certainly didn’t want to waste his energy on someone who would never accept him as he was anyway.
Gray had suspected that he wasn’t straight for a while now. He received plenty of attention from girls, something he didn’t always enjoy but certainly wouldn’t complain about either. Still, he couldn’t deny he was attracted to guys too. It took him some time to figure it out. At first, he’d mistaken it for admiration or maybe even jealousy, until he realized that he didn’t want to be that guy.
He wanted to be with that guy.
Grandpa Fullbuster, of course, had a very outspoken opinion about faggots, as he called them.
He’d use the slur whenever he saw fit. Watching a sports game and the ref made a call he didn’t agree with? Faggot. Someone cut him off on the road? Faggot. A man acting or presenting in any way that didn’t match his definition of manly? Definitely a Faggot.
Gray had so hoped that the subject wouldn’t come up today when his parents had invited his grandparents for dinner to celebrate Argent’s 59th birthday. He was already having trouble dealing with the usual scrutiny his grandfather was delivering, struggling to keep his expression neutral and his mouth shut. But then, right after dinner, when they were sitting in front of the tv, there was an item about the annual pride event on the news.
“Pah! What’s there to celebrate? All these faggots do is make themselves look like fools!” Argent boomed. He took a sip of his scotch, then raised his glass at the tv as if he was addressing the people on the screen directly, “You’re all going to hell, you can be proud of that!”
The awkwardness that followed was smothering, and Gray looked at his family members curiously to see their responses. His grandmother fiddled with the purse on her lap. His mom was putting the dishes in the dishwasher, not giving the matter any attention whatsoever. Rogue was reading a book, only glancing away from the pages for a second before ignoring the situation again. His dad was just staring at the tv with a blank expression like he’d do so many times when Argent went off about something.
No one said or did anything. And although it was nothing new, today it was the last straw for Gray. He got off the couch abruptly and stormed out of the room before he could say something stupid.
“Where are you going?” Rogue asked, following his movements.
“To hell, I guess.”
Like that.
Gray could hear a plate shattering on the floor and a commotion rising, but he didn’t stop to listen. He slammed the door of his bedroom shut and flopped down on his bed, putting in a pair of earphones and raising the volume of his mp3 player as high as it could go in a bid to drown out the sound of his grandfather’s yelling.
Whatever he had to say, Gray didn’t want to hear it anymore.
When his dad came into the room a few songs later, he was still laying in pretty much the same position, music blasting into his ear as he tried to calm his angry thoughts. Gray paused the song, ready to face a scolding for disrupting the peace, or a demand for an apology which he was unwilling to give.
Gray certainly didn’t expect his dad to sit down next to him on the bed and burst out laughing. That’s it, he thought, all the research he was continually doing for his work must have gone to his old man’s head. Either that, or he was going senile at a very young age.
“What’s so funny?” Gray huffed.
“I just can’t believe that out of the very few people I have ever seen brave enough to defy my father like that, one of them is my teenage son!” his dad chuckled, wiping a tear from his eyes. “Man, I haven’t seen him that pissed since the time I told him I was dating a guy…”
“What?” Gray’s eyes widened in surprise, and he sat up, “What do you mean?”
His dad regained his composure and turned more serious, but the smile never faltered. “I’m sorry, kid. If I’d realized, I would have told you this sooner,” he apologized, “Maybe then you would’ve had someone to talk to and known you’re not alone.”
“I’m bisexual,” Silver admitted, and suddenly his behavior around Argent made even more sense to Gray than it already had.
“Wow, that sucks,” Gray blurted out, still stunned by his father’s revelation. “Not the bisexual part, I’m pretty sure I am too, but…you’ve had to deal with that asshole’s bullshit for all those years?”
“Yep,” Silver laughed, but Gray wasn’t fooled. He could sense something painful his dad was trying hard not to let show, and Gray hated to think about what it would’ve been like for him, growing up with a father like Argent.
“It does suck, but I’m used to it. At this point, I just try to ignore it. You know how he is, he won’t change his mind, and nothing we do is ever good enough for him anyway.”
“Right,” Gray rolled his eyes,” Is he gone already?”
“Yeah, he tried to yell at me for my less than adequate parenting skills, but I told him I had something more important to do.”
“But wouldn’t that mean that his parenting skills were also inadequate?” Gray pointed out.
”Good luck getting him to admit to anything like that,” Silver shrugged in resignation, “Anyway, your grandmother was able to convince him to take her home before he lost it.”
Gray had to admit he was surprised to hear his father had stood up for him against his grandfather, he’d never expected it given how his father seemed to be off in his own world whenever Argent was around.
“He was furious, though, won’t that make trouble for you guys?”
“Let me and your mother worry about that,” Silver said reassuringly as he pulled Gray into a tight hug. “Honestly, at this point in my life, I could care less about his opinion.”
“You’re my son, and I’m proud of you for being brave enough to stand up for what you believe in.” He kissed the top of Gray’s head, patting his shoulder before letting go.” I know it’s not easy to do.”
Gray still couldn’t get over how everything had gone down. Just a few weeks ago, he’d been trying to figure out whether to tell his parents at all, not sure how they would react to his news. He’d never expected it to go this smoothly, and he certainly never expected to learn his father was the same.
“When did you know you were, you know?” Gray wasn’t sure if he was overstepping boundaries, but he’d never met anyone else who felt the same way he did, and he had so many questions.
“Bisexual,” Silver enunciated as Gray gawked at him with wide eyes, “It’s okay to say it, it’s not a dirty word, and it’s not something I ever want you to feel bad about, okay? I was never able to be proud of who I was when I was growing up, I always felt like I had to hide it. The last thing I want is for you to experience that.”
He scratched his head, “As for your question, I think I always knew, I just wasn’t really at liberty to say or do much about it. Things are a little better now,” he smiled in encouragement.
“What about you?”
Gray gave a half shrug, suddenly feeling shy after all his earlier bravado.
“It’s okay,” Silver ruffled his hair, “I know you’re not much of a talker, you don’t have to share anything if you don’t want to. There are some things I won’t be able to share with you either.”
“What’s it like to date a guy?” Gray asked eagerly.
His father peered at him, the corner of his eyes crinkling, before giving him his answer, “Well, the first time can be kind of nerve-wracking, like most firsts usually are, but ultimately it all depends on how you feel about each other. If you find someone you really love, the rest just becomes less relevant. It’s the same for dating women.”
For a moment it seemed like his father had once gone again off to whatever world he escaped to whenever his grandfather was around, but just when Gray was about to say something, his father turned to him with a teasing grin.
“So what about you? Have you dated anyone? I remember what it was like to be on a sports team, I doubt things have changed that much.”
“Not exactly,” Gray muttered, not really wanting to get into the few hookups he’d had when he was trying to figure stuff out.
“Is Mom not coming in?” he looked to the door, wanting to change the subject but also finding her absence decidedly strange.
When Gray glanced back at his father he thought he caught the barest traces of sadness on his face, but it was quickly replaced by a blank expression, making him wonder if he’d just been imagining it.
“I wouldn’t read too much into it. Your brother got a little spooked with the yelling,” Silver explained, “She’s making sure he’s okay.”
Gray nodded his understanding, but remembering the clatter of the plate breaking as he stormed out of the room, he couldn’t help but worry that maybe there might be more to it than that.
“Hey,” Silver was quick to reassure him, “unlike my father, your mother will always love you no matter what. Remember that.”
“Okay.”
“I know you probably have a lot more questions, but there are some things I want to talk about first.”
Gray slipped him a curious glance, unsure of what his father wanted to talk about, but he settled down to listen.
“I want you to be careful. Things have gotten better over time, people are more accepting, but unfortunately, there are still plenty of them who aren’t. Don’t engage them, you never know what they’re capable of.”
“And speaking of being careful, that applies to sex as well. Always use protection, whether you’re with a man or a woman, because-”
“Yes, dad, I get it!” Gray interrupted. He’d had the talk with his dad already and had no intention of repeating the experience.
“Alright, alright,” he glanced at Gray with a mischievous grin, “Wanna really piss off your grandfather?”
“What did you have in mind?” Gray couldn’t help but smile at seeing the excitement on his father’s face.
“Well, the Pride parade in Crocus is on Saturday, wanna go?” Silver twisted his wedding ring as he waited for an answer. “I always wanted to go to one.”
“Sure,” Gray replied, feeling closer to his dad than he had in a long time and wanting to experience his first parade with him, “I’d love to go.”
“Maybe we can all go!” Silver exclaimed eagerly, “Come on, let’s go find your mom.” He hurried out of the room, and Gray chased after him, caught up in his excitement.
When they reached the living room, they were greeted by the sight of Mika talking to Rogue quietly. There was something about it that made Gray feel uneasy, but his dad didn’t seem to notice.
“We’re all going to attend the pride parade in Crocus this Saturday,” Silver announced with a smile.
“Crocus? That’s quite a ways away,” Mika reasoned, “Don’t you think we should discuss it first?”
“What’s there to discuss?” Silver asked, stiffening at the apparent lack of enthusiasm coming from his wife.
“Silver, I get that this is exciting for you, but this is about Gray, not you.”
“And just what the hell is that supposed to mean?”
“I’m not having this discussion here,” Mika countered, her lips pressed into a thin line.
“Fine!”
Silver yanked the sliding door that led out to their deck open, storming outside. Mika turned to look at Gray and Rogue, flashing them a half-smile, “Everything’s gonna be just fine.”
She followed her husband outside, gently closing the door behind her.
Gray’s eyes were fixed on his parents, and although he couldn’t hear their words, his father was obviously upset. He watched as his mother tried to put a hand on his father’s shoulder only to have him shrug it away and step back. He didn’t really understand what the fight was about, but it seemed much too hostile to just be about whether they were going to attend an event or not. And he couldn’t help but feel that it was his fault that they were fighting.
“Do you want to play a video game?” Rogue asked, getting up and turning away from the sliding door, drawing him away from the guilt that was gnawing away at him.
“Yeah, sure, it’s not like we’re doing much good up here,” Gray agreed, giving one last look at the arguing couple before following his brother downstairs to the entertainment room that their dad and Gildarts had set up in the basement.
“Which one do you want to play?” he asked as he turned on the tv and the game console, searching through the games they owned.
“Co-op fighter?” Rogue suggested with a small smile, “We can pretend to kick grandpa’s ass.”
“If only,” Gray snorted and inserted the game, grabbing a controller for each of them. He wasn’t sure what he’d expected from his brother but was glad to find that he didn’t seem to be making a big deal out of the situation.
“I’m sorry for causing a scene, heard the old bastard freaked you out a little,” he apologized as he picked his fighter, waiting for Rogue to choose his.
“It wasn’t your fault,” Rogue shrugged, “He was the one who made the scene. It’s so stupid, we always have to behave around him, but he’s the one who can’t act like a decent human being. You should’ve seen him, he went rabid.”
“I seriously don’t understand how Dad came from that man,” Gray grumbled, “they are so different.”
“Yeah, I feel bad for him sometimes, I guess that’s why he always acts like he’s off somewhere else while they’re here,” Rogue noted, “And poor mom is stuck serving Grandpa while he sits there saying shit about dad.”
Hearing his brother mention their mom reminded Gray that he still had no idea how she had reacted to his announcement.
“Hey uh, what did mom say after I left?” he asked hesitantly. His worries regarding her opinion still bugged him. The response she’d given when his dad mentioned the plan for Saturday, and the fact that his parents were having a fight over it had only worsened them.
“Not much, just that it was going to be okay and that I should come to you and dad with my questions.”
“Oh,” Gray looked down at his controller, trying not to feel disheartened by that. He guessed it wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t what he was hoping to hear either.
“She isn’t disappointed in you or anything,” Rogue added quickly, “I think she was just overwhelmed. There was a lot of yelling.”
“Yeah, you’re probably right,” Gray forced himself to smile at his little brother, not wanting to stress him out any further. He gestured toward the screen, “You ready to go?”
“So are you gay?” Rogue asked, still scrolling through the different character options to pick his fighter.
“Ish? I like both, so that makes me bisexual,” Gray spoke the word confidently like his dad had told him to, remembering their conversation.
It was the first time he’d used it to refer to himself, and though he’d thought it would make him nervous - like there was no turning back from it anymore- he just felt right. It wasn’t any different than saying he played hockey. It was only another part of who he was, and his dad was right, he should be proud of it. No matter what others might have to say.
“That’s cool,” Rogue replied much in the same way he said anything, finally settling on a character. “All set.”
Gray snorted at his response, wondering what else he could have possibly expected from his brother. “Let’s do this.”
They played for a while, waiting for their parents to call them back upstairs, but when it didn’t happen, Gray forced himself to focus on the game. Trying to beat the waves of enemies helped him distance himself from what was going on.
“Hey, Gray?” Rogue spoke up in the middle of a boss fight, “Do you think they have video games in hell?”
Gray peered at him curiously, wondering where that had come from. “No idea, why?”
“Just wanna know because you suck so much I’m afraid we might not finish this game before we get there.”
Gray gawked at him for a moment before collapsing into a fit of giggles, “Man, I sure hope mom and dad weren’t counting on too many grandchildren.”
“What are you doing?! You got us both killed!” Rogue protested with such outrage that it only made Gray laugh even harder.
Gray’s expression softened as he studied his brother. “Guess we’ll just have to finish it in hell then.”
“I’d rather finish it now, just in case the rumors of blazing infernos are true, thank you,” Rogue rolled his eyes, setting up the game for another try. “And just so you know, you’re on grandkid duty. You like both, so you still have a chance of making it happen.”
“No promises,” Gray smirked, he did like girls, but he seemed to be more interested in boys at the moment.
“True,” Rogue said matter-of-factly, “Who’d want to date you?”
“You’re alright, kid,” Gray declared with a lingering chuckle, ruffling Rogue’s hair in the way his brother absolutely hated.
“And you’re annoying,” Rogue pouted, “but you’re also pretty badass for giving gramps the big fuck you.”
“That did feel good,” Gray confessed, getting up to grab a soda from the mini-fridge and tossing one to his brother.
Gray felt relief knowing that his father and brother both supported him. As for his mother, he decided to trust that she would love him no matter what, just as his father had said. There wasn’t much else he could do until he had a chance to talk to her.
He wondered what the outcome of their parents’ fight would be, hoping that they would still be allowed to go to the parade. It seemed important to his dad, even if he had framed it as a way to piss off Argent, and Gray wanted to offer him the same support he’d been given. It was easy to see there was a story there, and he hoped that someday his father would trust him with it.
As for the game, they never did end up finishing it, too wound up by everything that had happened to stay focused, but Gray felt closer to Rogue than ever. He made himself a promise that he would always have his back, and if anyone ever had the balls to give his little brother a hard time for who he was, Gray would give them hell.

Part One - the beginning
It was a beautiful late summer’s day, the birds were chirping and the leaves were starting to turn that burnt orange colour just in time for fall. Everything seemed right with the world, but Ava’s world had seemed to crash and burn and there had been noting she could have done to halt the plan that fate had set in motion. She was a firm believer in everything happening for a reason but why did it have to be her dad? Although his send-off was a nice one, just like he deserved but she still hadn’t been ready to say goodbye to him.
Ava sighed at her reflection in her mirror before making her way downstairs, as she walked into the living room her little sister Morgan looked up from her drawing and gasped, “you look like a princess!”
Ava smiled and smoothed her fingers through her newly dyed blonde hair, “we can both be princesses together then,” she grinned, Morgan giggled and went back to her drawing, she didn’t fully understand what was going on.
Ava looked over at her stepmom who gave her a sad smile, “every time I looked in the mirror I saw him. I needed to make a change,” Ava explained, fiddling with the ends of her hair.
Without a word Pepper pulled her into a huge hug, after a moment she said, “you don’t have to explain, you look beautiful and I’m so glad your back in New York.”
Ava smiled as they pulled away from each other, “dad would have wanted us all to be together, besides I’m definitely not a Californian girl, some of those girls were horrible,” she chuckled, she was so excited to be attending NYU with her old friends and she was even more excited to be staying in the dorms, “and, there was a clear reason why my dad got full custody of me when he and my mom got divorced,” she said, rolling her eyes making Pepper laugh.
“So,” she continued, pouring herself a cup of tea, adding a touch of cinnamon and ginger to it, “which of dad’s things need sorting through? I want to help,” she added as it looked like Pepper was about to argue.
Pepper sighed and nodded, “Rhodey is sorting through the lab, there’s so much shit in there that he’ll probably need a hand.”
Ava nodded and made her way back out of the room and towards the lab, ruffling Morgan’s hair as she went. As she walked into the lab she smirked as she saw Rhodey’s head stuffed into a tall storage box, muffled swearing was coming from the inside of it. She giggled and leaned against the doorway of the lab as Rhodey wrenched his head out of the box, spilling packaging peanuts everywhere.
“Need a hand Uncle Rhodey?” she giggled behind her hand as Rhodey grimaced, brushing peanuts off of his clothes.
“I’d be grateful for the help kiddo,” he nodded, “nice hair by the way.”
Pepper was right, the lab was just full of shit – Tony really had been a hoarder – he probably had never used any of the stuff they found. They found loads of interesting stuff though like an old newspaper article about Ava’s grandfather from the 40’s. Rhodey and Ava had a good old laugh about the photographs they found from Tony’s old college days. Ava unearthed an old jersey that had to be the softest material that she’d ever felt and it somehow still smelled like Tony. She made a mental note to take it off to college with her.
She was sorting through her dad’s desk when she came across a memory stick along with a cutting from a newspaper article.
“Rhodey…” Ava asked slowly, “what’s this?” she asked, upon further inspection she saw that there was a note attached to the back that read, ‘for Ava.’
Rhodey chewed his lip and walked over to her, placing a hand on her shoulder, “you should watch it, your dad would have wanted you to.”
Ava nodded without a word and she quickly set up the laptop to plug the memory stick into. Straight away she saw a younger Tony Stark sitting on a couch; he looked up at the camera, flashing that signature grin. Ava felt tears brewing in her eyes.
“Hey kid, you’re actually having your first nap of the day right now, I can’t believe that you’re a week old already. I wanted to make this video for you to watch after I’m gone which will hopefully not be for a long time. So, if you’re watching this I’m dead, I’m hoping that I had a good run,” he chuckled, “just wanted to tell you kid that no matter where you choose to go or what you choose to do I will always be the proudest of you. You will always be the best thing that happened to me. Whenever you feel sad or alone just watch this video and know that I’m with you till the end. I love you baby girl,” with those final words Tony flipped the camera off.
“You alright kiddo?” Rhodey asked, Ava sniffled and nodded, wiping her tears away, unplugging the memory stick and slipping it into her back pocket.
“I’m fine, I just didn’t know he had it in him to be so serious that’s all,” she chuckled, trying to make light of the situation. She looked further through the desk and picked up the newspaper cutting that she’d seen earlier. Ava frowned as she read the title, ‘Tony and Natalie Stark welcome miracle baby, Avaline.’
There they were right on the front page and in her dad’s arms pink and tiny, with jet black hair was her, “why was I a miracle baby Uncle Rhodey?” she asked and Rhodey smiled weakly.
“Your mom was told by the doctors that there was only about a 20% chance that she’d be able to get pregnant. When you were born without a hitch your dad swore that it was a miracle and he rushed to announce it to the world.”
“Oh,” Ava lamely finished, blinking back tears as an awkward silence settled in the lab, “I should um start packing for Greece, I leave on Friday and I haven’t even started yet.”
“Okay,” Rhodey nodded understandingly, “I’ll see you later.”
Ava nodded and smiled, thanking god that Rhodey was so understanding, “bye Uncle Rhodey,” she escaped to her room and sighed, she hadn’t exactly lied to get away from the awkward situation. She really did need to pack for Greece. She was so not organised.
About an hour into packing she huffed, feeling extremely bored and started scrolling through her phone. She noticed that her friend Wanda had put a message on the group chat that they had with their other friend MJ.
“Hey ladies! Are we all ready for Greece?! I’m actually so excited; we all deserve the sun, the sea and some excellent food if you ask me! Just got an email from college administration saying that the dorms are co-ed this year! We could be rooming with some hot guys! Ava, you chose the right time to enroll in NYU darling, I wish it was under better circumstances though! Ciao for now xxx”
Ava giggled as she read the message; Wanda had just split up with her boyfriend so it would be great for her if she got roomed with a cute guy. In fact, it’d probably be great for Ava too. It was in that moment that she was determined to stop moping around and make a fresh new start. It was what her dad would have wanted for her. She placed the newspaper cutting about her birth on her desk so she’d remember to pack it for college; she kissed her fingers before touching her dad’s photograph.
“Miss you dad.”
--------------------------------------------
Bucky smirked and laid back on the bed, resting his arms behind his head as Natasha walked out of the bathroom, rubbing a towel against her damp red hair. She was so beautiful; she was everything that Bucky had ever dreamed of. Nat looked at Bucky and saw the look on his face and his lust filled eyes.
She rolled her eyes at him playfully, “what are you smirking at gorgeous?” she asked, a smirk to match Bucky’s spread across her face.
“You,” he said simply, “come here,” he chewed his lip, almost whining and Nat huffed with a grin.
“No,” she giggled, backing away from both him and the bed, “you’re gonna get me all dirty again,” she casually flicked her wet her hair over one shoulder and fluttered her eyelashes, knowing what it did to him.
Bucky pouted like a moody teenager, sticking his plump bottom lip out and giving her his best puppy dog eyes, “but we can get clean together again,”
Nat giggled and relented, getting back into the bed with him again, leaning over him to kiss his lips, “god, you are actually beautiful,” Bucky flushed scarlet at her words and tried his best to play it off like it was nothing and he tried to act like her words had no effect whatsoever on him.
“Bucky Barnes, are you blushing?” she teased, nudging his shoulder, making Bucky flush an even deeper colour.
“No!” he said completely unconvincingly, trying to hide his bright red face in the pillow, “leave me alone,” he grumbled, making Nat laugh.
They both heard the distinct sound of a car door slamming and footsteps walking up the gravel path. It didn’t really bother Bucky that much because Nat had told him in the past that she had a roommate. Nat on the other hand, jumped up instantly and padded over to the bay window, discreetly peering out of it as she checked her watch.
“Fuck, shit! Oh my god! Bucky you need to go, like right now!” she spoke frantically, pushing her hair off of her forehead.
Bucky frowned; he couldn’t see why she was so worried, “why? I really want to meet your roommate.”
“Bucky, jesus! I don’t have a roommate, it’s my boyfriend!” he didn’t have time to be so shocked because Nat was urging him to get out of the bed and get dressed. She had to be joking.
“I can’t believe that you didn’t tell me that you’ve got a boyfriend!” he hissed as he pulled his jeans on, “we’ve been sleeping together for months!”
“Never mind that now! Out the window!” she whispered and Bucky’s eyes almost bugged out of his head.
“Out the window?!” he repeated, making sure that he’d heard her right, he was so pissed off beyond belief.
“Yes!” Nat whisper shouted, obviously getting impatient which Bucky thought was rich, “do you want to get beaten up? If you do then by all means stay!” she hissed, flinging his shirt at him.
“For fucks sake!” Bucky grumbled as he climbed out of the window and almost literally shimmied down the drainpipe, “I’m getting far too old for this.”
Steve and Sam both started over the table at Bucky with identical dumbfounded looks on their faces as Bucky finished his crazy story, “I know right,” he chuckled – he could see the humour in it now – as he took a sip of his beer.
“God, I haven’t climbed out of a window since our own college days,” Sam chuckled, shaking his head at Bucky, “and you’re doing it as an actual adult,” he slapped his knee as he laughed about it, obviously finding it really hilarious. Bucky glared at his friend, his pride was still hurting days after climbing out of that window.
“Where the hell do you go to meet these crazy women?” Steve asked, half in awe and half in astonishment.
“Crazy but hot Stevie, that’s the best thing,” Bucky smirked as Steve rolled his eyes and Sam looked kind of proud, “just in bars and stuff man, the usual places where you’d go to meet women,” Bucky shrugged, draining the last of his beer.
“Yeah, well I don’t think that’s working out great for you is it Buck?” Sam chuckled.
“I agree with Sam Bucky and I seriously think that you need to take a holiday or something,” Steve muttered as he got up and went to get the next round of beers.
Bucky shuddered, he couldn’t think of anything worse, he loved going on holiday – like most people but he was terrified of flying. He was bad enough when he was with other people, never mind flying on his own. He hated that it was one of his biggest fears, he really needed to conquer it but it was easier said than done. Sam watched his friend, knowing that he was worried. When Bucky realised that Sam was looking at him he laughed Steve’s comment off casually.
“Is he crazy? Going on an airplane on my own? No thanks.”
“He’s right man; you seriously need a break before you start your new job. And, it would help you forget about what happened last year.”
Bucky’s blood ran cold at Sam’s words, “mate, please do me a favour and don’t talk to me about last year. I don’t want to talk about it.”
“Okay, okay,” Sam relented, holding his hands up, “but if you figure that you do want to talk about it then I’m here for you.”
“Thanks man,” Bucky grinned, clinking his empty bottle against Sam’s, thanking for his best friends.
Maybe Steve was right, maybe he needed to let himself go a little bit more. He was looking forward to what the future had in store for him.

“… And one last warning students, please be careful as you venture to outdoor classes such as Herbology and Care of Magical Creatures this year. Teachers will be waiting to escort students to these classes in an effort to lessen incidents, but I must ask that no one venture to unpaved areas when getting some fresh air. Our groundskeeper is working to fix the problem, but until that time, please exercise extreme caution. That is all!” Dumbledore clapped his hands together, dismissing everyone from the first feast of the school year.
You stepped up from the table with the rest of your housemates and made your way to the dormitories, gossiping about the unnamed threat Dumbledore had mentioned.
“This happens every year! We get here, first day, and get told ‘Don’t go on the third floor west corridor— you’ll be slaughtered!’ ‘Watch your step on the moving staircases, students, portable volcanoes sprouted up over the summer and we’ve yet to remove them. Sorry!’ Honestly, dad never told me it was this bad in his day,” your housemate, Evan, laments.
“We don’t even know what’s outside!” Your best friend Vivian adds. “If we knew, maybe we could be more prepared.”
“True,” you say. “I hope they take care of whatever it is soon. I don’t want to spend all my free periods in the stone courtyard.”
“What’d ya think it is?” Evan asks, poking you with his elbow. “Erklings? Chupacabras?”
“Oh shut up, Evan,” You say, poking him back. “Chupacabras don’t even live in Europe. They’re native to Puerto Rico–“ you trail off as your throat catches, due to your first sight of pale blonde hair.
Evan follows the line of your stare over to Draco and laughs. Vivian just groans. “Please Y/N, I thought you were over this!”
“Sorry!” You huff, crossing your arms as your face heats up. “Not my fault he gets more attractive each summer.”
“Well, don’t get your hopes up, I think Malfoy’s nose is too high in the air for him to see you,” Evan jokes. “Didn’t you hex him last year outside Charms? Whatever happened to that?”
“Yes,” you grumble. “Believe me, I’m well aware how annoying he is. I just wish he wasn’t so hot.”
Vivian feigns throwing up. “Please, quit while you’re ahead, Y/N.”
◈◈◈
As it turns out, Erklings end up in your Defense classroom as opposed to the sprawling lawns outside. Professor Moody has a taste for the hands-on that Professor Lupin did, but with a slightly more dangerous twist. Not that you mind, of course. When Professor Moody drops the cage onto the floor of the DADA classroom and asks for a volunteer, your hand is the first one up.
“As usual, Ms. Y/L/N is the only one of you who wants to participate!” His good eye focuses on you in almost a sympathetic way. “Let’s have someone else. Longbottom!”
Poor Neville. He was never ready, Professor Moody should know that by now. You wait patiently as he calls on several other students. Hermione is the most successful with the Erkling so far, using the Melofors jinx to encase it’s head in a pumpkin.
“Well done, Ms. Granger,” Moody says, using the Impirus curse to make the Erkling walk back into its cage. You shiver a bit— you’ve still not gotten used to seeing the former auor use unforgivable curses in classroom settings. “However, if this Erkling were larger, more powerful, it would still be able to sing loud enough to affect you even with its head covered.” His beady eyes scanned the group of you again, fixing on you at last. “Y/L/N, I assume you know the spell I’m looking for?”
You jump to your feet eagerly and head to the center of the classroom. Professor Moody opens the cage again, and out comes the Erkling, singing it’s eerie and hypnotizing song. The Erkling you’re working with is small and you’re old enough that the creature’s voice doesn’t affect you as much as it would a young child, but you feel your thoughts become a bit muffled anyway. You fight the feeling of passing out and put all your energy into casting.
“Pullus!” You whip your wand in an ark and the Erkling transfigures in a pouf of feathers. The cloudiness in your head fades, and you find yourself standing before an ordinary chicken instead of a child-eating elf. You smile as Professor Moody leads the class in hearty applause.
“Well done! You see, Erklings are very susceptible to the Pullus transfiguration. Even if an adult Erkling has a teenager such as yourselves under it’s spell, even a weaker version of the charm will be enough to allow you to gain the upper hand,” Moody explains.
You head back to your seat and ignore Hermione’s calculating stare. Instead you notice Draco watching you with interest. You glow anew, and take your seat next to Vivian. Everyone then takes turns transfiguring the Erkling with the Pullus charm. As Draco walks back to his seat after successfully transfiguring the creature, he catches your eye again. You turn to Evan behind you and tell him maybe Malfoy’s nose isn’t too high to notice you yet.
◈◈◈
In early December, cold rain is pelting the castle walls. The school is abuzz with talk of the Yule Ball, but you were more interested in the baby Kappas that Hagrid had mentioned you would be studying today. The rain was the perfect day for them to be observed swimming in puddles.
You’d almost made it to the alcove where your Creatures class met when you realized you’d left your outdoor rain cloak in your last class. “Bollocks,” you mumble. “Vivi, cover for me? I’ll be back as quick as I can.”
“But you can’t go down the path to the forest alone, Y/N!” Vivian argued. “It’s pouring, you’ll hardly be able to see as it is!”
“I’ll be fine, nothing bad has happened to anyone all term anyway. I’ll be okay walking to one class unsupervised, ” you insist, and sprint back up the stairs two at a time to the Charms classroom.
When you return to the alcove, your class is already gone. You secure your bag and slip your rain cloak on, fastening it tight, then venture out into the torrential rain.
You hate to admit it, but maybe Vivian was a little right. It’s hard to see ahead through the wall of grey the rain creates. Water keeps getting in your eyes despite your hood. You pull your wand from inside your robes and prepare to cast the umbrella charm when something slams into your thigh, knocking you to the ground.
You scramble on the wet grass, trying to right yourself. The next blow lands on your upper back, and you cry out in pain. Your hood falls off and rain flows freely into your eyes, but you squint against it and let out a small growl of determination. Before the next hit can come, you roll to the side and raise your wand, only to feel instantly frozen in fear.
A very wet, and absolutely murderous Red Cap glares down at you, bone club raised and at the ready. You stare helplessly back at it, rain running straight into your wide eyes without you even noticing. You can only look at it’s dark and dirty hat, and think about how your blood is going to saturate it next.
“Titillando!”
The Red Cap collapses into a fit of laughter and falls to the ground, clutching its sides as it’s hit by the tickling hex. You hear another spell cast, and the Red Cap goes flying away from you in the opposite direction. As soon as it’s out of sight, you flop back onto the wet ground, still in shock. Someone comes running from the direction of the castle, and you didn’t think you could feel more surprised than when you see Draco Malfoy’s face hovering over your own.
“Y/N? Are you alright?” The hood of his own rain cloak has fallen back, presumably when he was running. His fine hair is getting soaked and sticking to his forehead, and his hand is on your upper arm, trying to get your attention. “Y/N? Are you listening? Can you stand?"
Instead of answering, you burst into sobs.
“Oh no,” Draco says. He puts his own wand back into his robes and grabs your shoulders to pull you into an upright position. “Y/N, come on, let’s get you back to the castle.”
“B-but the Kappas…” You sniff.
Through your tears and the rain, you barely make out his tiny smile. “The Kappas can wait. I think you’d better skip this class.” Draco finally is able to get you standing, and you lean against him as you continue to sob all the way back inside.
“It’s a good thing I was running late, too. You were the last person I’d expect would need help, though.” Draco says as he sits you on the first bench you come across. “Do you need the hospital wing?”
You shake your head, finally calming down. “No, it only got me twice. Just a bad bruise, I’m guessing.” You pull off your rain cloak and take in your soaked clothes. You take out your wand, intending to charm all the water off, but your hand is shaking too badly. Your hand drops into your lap helplessly, and you sigh.
“Let me,” Draco says gently. He waves his own wand and you feel the water pull off both of your robes, and it collects into a ball that hovers in front of the two of you. Draco flicks his wand and it flows under the crack of the door and back outside.
“Thank you,” you say, suddenly becoming aware of your embarrassing situation.
“Anytime,” Draco replies. “What happened? You’re never one to freeze up in the face of danger.”
You play with the edge of your uniform skirt nervously. “Red Caps are my one fear. They killed my only sister when she was just a baby, while my family was on a camping trip.” You rub your nose. “I was too young to know any magic, and by the time my parents came it was too late to save her.”
“I’m so sorry,” Draco says after a beat. “That must have been very traumatic."
You give a small shrug. “I don’t remember much about her. I always tell myself I can take down any Red Cap I come across, because I can, but the times it’s happened since that day I always get scared and can’t move. It’s just frustrating.”
Draco scoots a little closer to you on the bench as a few more tears roll down your cheeks. “For someone as talented as you in Defense Against the Dark Arts, I’m sure you just need some practice.” He places a warm hand on your bare knee, causing your own palms to start sweating.
“I don’t think it’s a good idea for me to go wandering around our Red Cap-infested school grounds after what just happened,” you manage, despite your sudden breathlessness.
“As if I’d let you go alone,” Draco says with a hint of smugness.
Your jaw goes slack. “You’d go with me?”
“Sure,” Draco shrugs. “The two of us should be able to manage with no problem.”
“Um, you are aware even small Red Caps can kill you, right?” You scoff.
“So? I’ve already gotten rid of one with no problem.”
You bite your lip to keep from laughing. Draco had turned your mood around. “Alright. We can go out and hunt the Red Caps if you really think it will help.”
Draco beams a perfect pearly smile. “Wonderful.”
◈◈◈
Two days later, you sprint down the staircase to meet Draco for… whatever you’re doing. This is not how you had imagined finally getting to spend time with Draco, but you’d take what you were handed. Besides, this was a two birds with one stone sort of deal: conquering your worst fear, and hanging out with your crush. Normal stuff.
Today the sun is shining during your shared free afternoon block, and you feel a blush heat your cheeks when Draco takes your hand and leads your outside. After you make sure no teachers have seen you slip out, the two of you head to an open spot of grass.
“I don’t see any,” you observe, scanning the hills. “I can’t see any of their holes, either.”
“Do you reckon they live in the maze?” Draco suggests. “Maybe they’re part of that particular challenge.”
“But then wouldn’t they be magically contained inside the shrub?” You counter. “If the entire grounds are infested so bad we can’t go to classes, they can’t be part of the Tournament. Unless it’s something we don’t know about.” You add.
As you both look out across the empty landscape, the small knot of nervousness that was in your stomach starts to subside. Perhaps there were fewer Red Caps than you had been led to believe, and your attack on the way to Magical Creatures class had just been an unfortunate accident.
Draco suddenly grabs your arm. “There! Look! One is coming now!”
From far down the hill, a tiny red dot emerges from a tuft of grass. It’s lumbering up the slope towards the two of you, and almost instantly the ball of nerves returns. You feel like you’re going to throw up. No, you’re not going to do that in front of Draco. He’s right there, he’ll help you if anything goes wrong.
“I’m ready,” you say, trying to muster up some confidence by readjusting your grip on your wand and taking a deep breath.
The Red Cap disappears behind the curve of the hill. When it comes back into your line of sight, it’s much closer. And there’s about eight more with it, all looking deadly with their bone clubs and dirty clothes.
“Um, Y/N? Maybe we should go…” Draco whispers, his grip on your arm suddenly tighter. “Nine is a lot for just the two of us.”
But while Draco was faltering, you only felt more determined. “Nope, I’m doing it.” You pull free from his grasp and take an offensive stance at the oncoming wave of Red Caps.
“Merlin,” Draco mutters, but he pulls out his own wand and stands beside you.
The first Red Cap starts running, and you hit it with a stun jinx. Draco follows by casting Expelliarmus, and the creature and its club go flying in opposite directions. Once the first Red Cap is down, the others start to charge. You and Draco take down a few more, but there’s still five left and they’re closing in fast.
“Run for it!” Draco drags you away, and together you sprint back towards the castle. You keep looking behind you, throwing jinxes at the remaining Red Caps running after the two of you. One throws it’s club, which narrowly misses Draco’s head.
You stumble up the steps towards the entrance back to the castle, but your toe catches on a wonky stone and sends you flying down the corridor, taking Draco with you. You both land in a heap. As you scramble across the floor to get further away from the grass, you spare a glance over your shoulder. The remaining Red Caps have stopped where the lawn ends, and just stare angrily back.
“Draco, look, they’ve stopped,” you pant.
Draco follows your line of sight, and you watch the Red Caps disperse before collapsing onto the floor on your backs.
“I did it.” You smile to yourself as you stare at the stone arch above you.
Draco turns his head to look at you and you do the same. He gives you that same breathtaking smile from two days ago. “You did! Wasn’t so bad, was it?”
You can’t help but giggle, and Draco joins you. “Honestly, it really could have gone much worse!” You admit.
“Do you feel better?” Draco asks.
You think on it for a moment, lost in his pale blue eyes. “Yeah, I think I do.”

Twinning! (Hope Mikaelson x Reader fic)
Requested by anon: Hey! I’d like to request being hope mikealsons twin sibling. Just how that family and friend dynamic would work - would they be a second tribrid, a hybrid, a single supernatural something (witch, vamp etc)? Interactions with fam and friends. Home life at the compound, and at school. Training with hope. Hope being annoyed about how you’re taller than her and insist on jumping on you so she can be tall too... etc. really love your blog btw :)
Word count: 1154
Being Hope’s sister was both the best and worst thing in the world. It was the best thing that could have happened to you because there was no one else in this world that you would rather spend all of your time with. And it was also the worst thing that could be because of what was currently happening. Ever since you and Hope had hit puberty, you had experienced a massive growth spurt, whereas Hope….stayed Hope. There was an inch grown here and there, but she still only managed to reach your armpit in height. It was infuriating to her because she was supposed to be the same height as you were! Wasn't that part of the deal when it came to being twins? So, in order to compensate for nature’s apparent mistake, Hope was currently perched on your back as you made your way towards the kitchen in the quest for more food.
“You know, I'm getting really tired of carrying around dead weight whenever I want to go get some food.”
“Oh shut it (Y/N). You're a tribrid, so it shouldn't be a problem carrying me around.”
“Last time I checked, I had a sister who was also a tribrid. Maybe she should learn how to walk on her own and not depend on her sister for such basic tasks.”
“Maybe I like this more than you know. Now stop talking and get us to the kitchen.”
You rolled your eyes as you made your way towards your favorite part of the house, the kitchen. Aunt Freya and her girlfriend Keelin were making roast pork, and your stomach growled as you picked up the scent. It appeared that Hope was hungry too as she jumped off your back and yelled, “The first one to make it to the kitchen gets to eat most of the food!”
“Hey, that's not fair! I carried you most of the way here!” You realized that you were yelling into thin air, so you went off at a run in an attempt to be the first to sit down at the dinner table.
When you managed to get to the kitchen, Hope was already sitting in her seat with a huge plate of food in front of her and a smug smile on her face. “Nice of you to join me for dinner, (Y/N).”
You answered her by giving her a mock glare and sat down opposite her. “There had better be some left for me after you're all done.”
Before Hope could throw a piece of food at you, you heard one of the doors close. “How are my two favorite girls doing?” Your dad came out from his room and gave both you and Hope a kiss. Apart from Hope herself, Klaus was the only person who knew what it was like to be born as more than just a vampire or a werewolf. Your mom was really helpful with helping you and Hope control the werewolf side of your nature, whereas Aunt Freya gave you her grimoires to study. It felt great to have all of your family members be so supportive of all of your different abilities, but there are times when you actually preferred to be at the Salvatore School. There, you were surrounded by people your own age, and attention was not constantly on you. There was also combat training with both Dr. Saltzman and Hope to look forward to every week. Also, there was also the matter of Lizzie being at the school. Throughout the last few months, you had developed a kind of friendship with the blonde, and you hope to be back soon so you could see her again. You only realized how distracted you were until Hope leaned into your field of vision making smooching noises.
“Thinking about a certain blonde, (Y/N)?”
“Shut up, Hope! I was thinking about school.”
“Mm-hmm.” Hope raised her eyebrows as she took another bite.
“Which blonde are we talking about?” Your dad and Aunt Freya both sat down and looked at you with interest.
“I will tell you when and if there is something to tell. The keyword is if.” You could feel your ears starting to burn up with embarrassment, and Hope’s poor attempt at concealing a snigger made your ears feel hotter than before.
“Speaking of which, how is school going?” Your mom chose this moment to come to save you from further questioning.
“It’s going pretty good. Hope and I are training regularly with Dr. Saltzman, and we’re learning how to control our abilities at school. It’s pretty fun.”
“Why aren’t you telling her about your ‘thing’ for...you know who?” Hope was cackling as she stuffed more food in her mouth, and the entire family turned to look you.
“The person that Hope is talking about...is Lizzie Saltzman.” You could feel your face burning again.
“Ohhh… one of the Saltzman twins. Well, if she gives you any trouble, I’ll go to the school myself and this girl can and I can have some words.” Everyone rolled their eyes at Klaus as he took another sip of whiskey.
“Well, tell us how things go and we’ll take it from there.” Your mom glared at your dad as she went to go get some food.
“Now, didn’t it feel nice to finally tell the truth about your feelings to everyone?”
“Shut up, Hope!”
-----
Life at the Salvatore School was as close as you could expect to be normal. People treated you like one of their own, and you got to spend as much time as you wanted with your sister. There was just something about living with fellow supernatural teenagers that made you feel at home.
“Did you know...that I feel your technique improving with every training match.” Dr. Saltzman barely managed to grunt out his words as your sticks clashed together. There were beads of sweat collecting on his forehead, and you gave him a very smug smirk.
“At least you’re not training with Hope. I know for a fact that she does not let up until her opponent is flat on the ground.”
“You know...I can hear you.” Hope’s moody voice carried from the grass as she sat on the side looking at her phone.
“I know you can hear me, which is why I said that in such a loud voice.”
“Everyone knows that I can still beat you on your ass, which is why you’re so jealous of me.”
“Who’s the jealous one? You’re the twin who got the shorter end of the stick.” You laughed as Hope threw a clump of dirt at your direction.
“Okay, since the two of you seem to be itching for a fight, you might as well get started.” Dr. Saltzman handed Hope his sticks, and Hope immediately hopped down and faced you.
“Ready to start, sis?”
“Ready whenever you are.”

The One With The Prom Video
⇻ For twenty years, you had always viewed Jung Hoseok as your best friend’s cousin, who you could also probably call a close friend considering all he had done for you. It takes you one night and a home video to realize just how much he has done, and just how much you truly feel for each other.
Pairing: Hoseok x reader Genre: Fluff, mild angst (if you squint really hard?) Words: 5k Inspired by: Friends Season 2 episode 14, “The One With The Prom Video” Warnings: Mild language, mentioning of alcohol, mentioning of drugs
You were ten years old when you first met Jung Hoseok.
You don’t remember anything special about the details of the day. What you were wearing, what he was wearing, what you said to each other. You assumed you were wearing something along the lines of Bermuda shorts with a camisole over t-shirt combo from the department store you always shopped in with some obnoxious neon jewelry that you seemed to always wear in the fourth grade. He was probably in something like basketball shorts and a t-shirt, like most other boys his age wore. None of it really seemed to be that important at the time.
Jung Hoseok was always just your best friend, Hana’s, older cousin. He was constantly hanging around at her house since the two of them were stuck together more than glue itself. His family lived right next door so it was uncommon to find the two of them separate. This, unsurprisingly, meant that you saw quite a bit of him as well.
You never attended school with him. Aside from him being two years older than you and Hana, you also both attended an all-girls private school until high school, while he attended a co-ed public one. Once you hit high school, you both finally convinced your parents to let you attend a co-ed private school instead.
In your elementary and even middle school years, you loved being able to have Hana all to yourself at school, since you knew once she went home, she would practically be at Hoseok’s beck and call.
Even though Hana and Hoseok were close, when they were younger it was less of a friendship/close family relationship. More like Hana following Hoseok around trying to do everything he did, since he was older and in association, cooler. It took until she finally hit her moody teenage years to grow a backbone and stop doing everything Hoseok asked her to.
For a while, you didn’t see much of Hoseok. He was around age sixteen, and you and Hana were fourteen. Hana had said that his parents had shipped him away to some dance camp for the summer. It was in hopes that his semi-“rebellious” phase – that honestly was the worst way to define Hoseok getting detention twice for being late to school – would dwindle down.
When he had returned at the beginning of the school year and you saw him again, he had changed. He was a lot friendlier towards both you and Hana, and had grown about three inches. His jawline had slimmed down and he looked a lot older than he had in June when you last saw him. Even though he looked different and was a bit kinder, he was still the same Hoseok you knew before the summer had started. This was proven when you went to pour sugar in your cereal one morning after sleeping over and the top fell off, making all of the sugar in the container dump into your Rice Krispies.
Yep, the same, annoying Hoseok.
To be fair though, you had changed as well. You turned fifteen over the summer and one of your birthday presents from Mother Nature was boobs! Yep, that’s right. Boobs. You had gone up two whole cup sizes and had grown an inch as well. You and Hana had also spent the summer learning how to properly do makeup – no more of that too dark foundation and blue eye shadow from the local drug store. You spent almost all of your birthday money at Sephora and stayed up all night watching tutorials on YouTube in preparation for the start of high school in September.
Looking back on that summer now, fifteen years later, you find yourself laughing. You cared so much about how others would perceive you as you entered what you thought would be the most important years of your life. It’s comical now, at age thirty, that you really thought high school would be the prime of your life.
Now, at age thirty, you had already been engaged once. That lasted for a hot second before you realized you had more attraction to a closet door than you did to the guy and broke it off after a month. You had also gone to college and gotten your degree in secondary mathematics education and had a full-time, paying job as a geometry teacher at the local high school. You were still wallowing in student loans, especially since a teacher’s pay is pretty much shit. The kids could be assholes sometimes too, but when you’ve had a rough day, you still had Hoseok and Hana to cheer you up after all these years. Except now the cheering up included a bottle or two of wine.
That’s how you ended up here, sitting on the couch in Hana’s living room on a Friday night. Your group had expanded over the years, now including a girl named Yeona that Hana met in her first college class, and two boys named Namjoon and Jimin. Hoseok and Namjoon were roommates all throughout college and stayed in touch even when Namjoon moved in with Jimin, who had posted an ad online about needing a roommate. The six of you had been there for each other throughout the good, the bad, and the ugly over the course of the past decade.
It was finally time for Hana to join the club: the “I’m in my 30’s and still don’t know what the fuck I’m doing” club. Her birthday was on Sunday and in preparation for the huge party you would all have to tolerate tomorrow, you decided to pre-game with some alcohol and old home videos from the comfort of Hana’s living room. She had found a huge box of unlabeled DVDs at her parents house the previous week and decided that in celebration of her thirtieth time around the sun, she wanted to spend her Friday night watching the lot of them. The sixth movie of the night was playing on her flat screen, where a video of Hoseok and Hana playing his dad’s drum set at ages three and five could be seen by the six pairs of eyes glued to it.
“Hoseok, why the hell are you holding the sticks like that?” Yeona choked out through her laughs.
“I could barely hold a pencil at age five, how the hell was I supposed to know how to properly hold drum sticks back then?” he retorted back, taking a swig of his IPA.
“I bet you still wouldn’t be able to hold them correctly now,” you giggle in response from your seat on the floor.
“Hey! I’m very musically inclined!”
“With your voice and your dance steps you might have called yourself as J-Hope, but when it comes to instruments you’re J-Hopeless,” Hana retorts.
“Wow, very original, never heard that one before,” Hoseok mutters, lips touching the beer bottle but not taking another sip. “I thought we agreed to not bring up that nickname ever again?”
“Oh come on Hoseok, this is a night of reminiscing. I for one, would love to reminisce on how you insisted we call you J-Hope the first summer after you went to dance camp because you thought you were some hot shot with every ounce of swag you could have,” you say, trying desperately to hold back a string of laughs.
The rest of the group let out laughs of disbelief at the mention of Hoseok’s short-lived teenage nickname.
“Okay that’s enough, onto the next one,” Hoseok announced, trying to ignore the comments Hana was making about no doubt more embarrassing things from his adolescence. He stood up from his spot on the armchair and placed his beer on the side table before walking over to the DVD player. He ejected the disc and without looking placed another one in the slot and pressed play.
The laughter had finally died down by the time Hoseok had sat back down on the blue armchair placed next to the couch.
Everyone focused on the TV, waiting to see what memories would appear next.
When the screen finally loaded, you were met with the image of your parents standing with Hana’s mom in her kitchen. Hana’s dad’s voice could be heard from behind the video camera. Your dad had a regular camera in his hands, and they all seemed to be excited about something.
“Are they coming downstairs soon?” your mom asked Hana’s, looking excited.
“Yes, mom, we are,” you heard your own voice from behind the camera. It panned around and you’re all met with the image of you and Hana, dressed in gowns with hair and makeup done, ready for your senior prom.
You smile faintly, remembering how much effort you had put into looking nice that night.
You shopped for months for the perfect dress before deciding on a champagne colored mermaid dress with beading up the bodice. Hana had done your hair in a half-up, half-down look and you had done a dramatic smokey eye to compliment your bronzed skin. You remember tanning outside with Hana for two weeks straight trying to get enough color to look good in the dress.
Hana had spent just as much time on her appearance, wearing a silver dress that was also beaded from head to toe. Her hair was completely up with loose curls framing her face and even though she had done formal makeup, it looked minimal on her but it worked. She never needed to wear much anyways.
You heard saw Hoseok shuffling in his chair from the corner of your eye. Turning to look at him, he stutters out, “Oh, we don’t have to watch this.”
Complaints came from the others, insisting that they all wanted to continue watching. Hoseok continued to shift uncomfortably in his seat as his attention shifted across numerous objects in the room. You stared at him confused, but returned your attention to the screen again.
“Oh you look so great! So beautiful!” you hear from your parents behind the camera.
“Dad! Turn the camera off!” Hana whines, attempting to push the camera away from her face.
“This is a momentous occasion sweetheart! You only go to senior prom once!” he chuckles.
“Unless you’re Hoseok, then you don’t go at all,” she snickers.
“Oh you hush,” Hana’s mom scolds.
“Damn, you guys got THAT dressed up for prom? I went in a dress I found at JCPenney for $50, straightened my hair and called it a day,” Yeona states, shoveling a handful of popcorn in her mouth.
“I didn’t even go to my prom. My friends and I skipped and went to the beach that weekend instead. Smoked a fuck ton of weed,” Namjoon laughed.
“It was important to us!” you exclaim. “We happened to have been asked by some of the cutest guys in our school!”
“Guys from a private school? I don’t trust it, those guys are always dickbags,” Jimin replies.
“Shush, you’ll see! When we were eighteen they were peak cute.”
“How about now? Still peaking?” Jimin chuckles.
“Shut up, Jimin.”
Chuckles emit from the group as you all turn back to the TV.
“Now that you mention him, where is Hoseok?” you hear Hana’s dad ask, turning the camera around to inspect the room. Hoseok is now visible, leaning against the kitchen counter, staring at the two girls as they walk towards him.
“Oh, there you are,” he says, moving the camera to be more in Hoseok’s face.
“Seriously Uncle Jihun?” Hoseok mutters before pushing the camera out of his face.
“Alright, alright, I’ll turn it off.”
The screen turns black for a few seconds before transitioning into the next clip. The screen is mostly black, like the clip was filmed secretly. The top halves of both Hoseok and you are visible to the screen. You’re pulling up the top of your dress.
“You uh, look really pretty tonight,” Hoseok murmurs, his arms crossed over his chest as he looks at the ground.
“Oh, thanks,” you reply back, awkwardly playing with your earring. “So, any plans this summer?”
“Not really, probably just going to the studio with Jungkook to create choreography for next year’s fall showcase. Kid practically idolizes me,” he shrugged.
You, Hana and Namjoon all laugh at that.
During his sophomore year of college Hoseok met this kid named Jungkook after he joined the same dance troop as Hoseok. Hoseok treated Jungkook like a little brother and mentored him, always allowing him to stay with him later to practice the choreography for their showcases. He would find out the next year that Jungkook had a crush on him and that was why he followed him around all the time. Hoseok was shocked to say the least and had a hard time believing that 1: Jungkook was gay and 2: that Jungkook had a crush on him. He had to let him down as easy as he could and Jungkook was so embarrassed that he stopped talking to Hoseok for a few months. They finally reconciled after Jungkook met a boy named Taehyung, who became his boyfriend and later fiancé.
“Was this pre or post confession, Hobi?” Yeona chuckled.
Hoseok shrunk even further into the chair.
“Oh, that’s cool,” you reply back, still awkwardly lifting up the top of your dress. “Hey, is this thing hooked all the way? It keeps falling down.”
You turned around to have Hoseok take a look and attempt to aid you if necessary. What the camera captures that you didn’t see is Hoseok looking startled as your back practically meets his front. He stutters out a “let me check” before his fingers stumble over the clasp on the back of your dress.
“L-looks good to me, you look go-“ The doorbell interrupts him.
“Oh my God, they’re here!” you squeal in excitement with Hana, running away from Hoseok before he can finish his sentence. His hands fall to his sides and his gaze continues to follow yours as you run out of the camera’s range.
The next clip cuts to you standing in the hallway while Hana’s date, a boy with dyed blonde hair named Min Yoongi, gets his red rose boutonniere pinned to his tuxedo lapel. Flashes from your dad’s camera are seen against the two of them.
You lean over from your spot hidden from the camera’s flashes to ask him, “Where’s Seokjin? I thought you guys were coming together?”
“He’s on his way, relax,” Yoongi smoothly replies. “Had to pick up the bouquet or something, I don’t remember what exactly.”
You sigh, starting to wring your hands together in anxiety. Yoongi had arrived nearly ten minutes ago and your date, Kim Seokjin, still had yet to show.
“Damn, did you get stood up to your own prom?” Jimin asks from behind you on the couch.
“Just keep watching,” you murmur, eyes focused on the TV.
The next clip cuts to about thirty minutes later, when Seokjin still had yet to arrive to Hana’s house. You are starting to panic.
“I texted him but he hasn’t replied. He can’t be standing me up,” you say, looking at Hana sadly. “I can’t go without a date to prom, I can’t, its too embarrassing.”
Hana grabs a tissue from the box behind you on the countertop and dabs it under your eyes. “Don’t cry, your makeup will run. And hey, if you don’t go, I won’t go either.”
Yoongi walks closer to the two of you, seething out, “I’ll kick his ass, I swear,” before walking away.
The group chuckles at that, seeing how heated Yoongi had gotten over the possibility of not being able to attend prom too.
The camera had followed Yoongi down the hall to the staircase, where Hoseok was apparently in a conversation with Hana’s mom.
“Hobi, I have a great idea. Why don’t you take Y/N to the prom?” she asks in a hushed tone as Hoseok is looking at his phone.
He chuckles before sarcastically replying, “Yeah, okay Aunt Jisoo. Like that’ll happen.”
From behind the camera, you can hear Jihun chime in.
“Your Aunt is right, Hoseok. You should take her. You can wear my tux, we’re practically the same size.”
“She wouldn’t want to go with me anyways, even if I did offer to take her,” Hoseok retorts dejectedly.
“Oh come on Hoseok, you’re a college man! Who gives a shit about some high school guy; you’re the real deal! Even if you weren’t in college, she would still be lucky to go with you,” you hear Jisun argue.
Your eyes are practically glued to the screen at this point. You had no idea that this conversation ever happened. Apparently, Hana is the same way as she can’t seem to look away either.
Hoseok locks his phone before shoving it in his pocket and meeting Jihun’s eyes. “I don’t know, she just sees me as Hana’s cousin that’s a pain in her ass all the time.”
“Oh come on, Hobi, look at her. She’s devastated,” he says, turning the camera back towards you and Hana standing by the counter.
You’re trying so hard to hold back your tears, as you whimper, “I can’t believe I’m not going to get to go to my own prom. I’ve literally dreamed of this since I was thirteen, Hana. We’ve dreamed of this since we were thirteen. Why is the universe playing this cruel joke on me?”
Hana continues to comfort you as the camera pans back to Hoseok talking with his aunt and uncle.
“…Okay,” he finally agrees. “Show me where the tux is.”
“Guys, I think we’ve seen enough,” Hoseok’s voice chimes in from your side. “Let’s change it to something else now.”
A chorus of denials comes from the group behind you, but you’re still in shock, eyes never once leaving the TV.
“Fine, but I’m not going to watch anymore,” Hoseok states, standing up from his chair and walking behind the group into the kitchen.
“Alright Hoseok, let’s see!” Aunt Jisoo says, now the one behind the camera. Uncle Jihun walks out of their bedroom first, followed by Hoseok. He is clad in a classic black tuxedo with a white shirt and a black tie. His hair has some product in it and is styled in a sexy kind of messy way, courtesy of Jihun.
“Oh, don’t you look handsome!” she exclaims. “Let’s go show the girls!”
Aunt Jisoo begins to walk backwards down the stairs, camera still on Hoseok as he closes his eyes and takes a deep breath, muttering to himself. What sounds like ‘be cool, it’ll all be fine,” appear to come from his mouth a few times before he reaches the top of the steps. He grabs some flowers from their vase in the hallway before beginning his descent down the steps.
“Y/N! Wait until you see who-“ you hear Jihun begin, before he stops himself at the bottom of the steps.
“Oh.”
“Look who finally showed up!” you exclaim excitedly, in the process of taking pictures in front of the fireplace with your date, Seokjin. Hana and Yoongi are standing on the other side of you, looking equally as happy with his arrival.
“Oh dear,” you hear Aunt Jisoo whisper from behind the camera. Hoseok had stopped at the top of the stairs at the sound of your voice, the words from your mouth halting him in his place before he could be visible to anyone else.
“Jihun, how do I turn this off?” you hear her ask. Hoseok’s face is still in the frame. You can see him visibly swallow before looking at the camera and turning around to walk back into the bedroom he just came from, slamming the door behind him.
The screen then cuts to black.
The tension in the room couldn’t even be cut with a sword if anyone tried.
So that’s where he had gone when he disappeared? You assumed he got bored of all of the prom stuff and dipped without saying goodbye in true Hoseok fashion. Never in your life would you have guessed he was getting ready to take you to prom since your date had assumingly stood you up.
Everyone turns to look behind the couches to the kitchen where Hoseok stood. His one hand is on the counter, the other fidgeting with the bottom of his old Supreme t-shirt.
“I can’t believe you did that,” Hana breathes out.
Hoseok remains silent for a few seconds before responding with, “Yeah.”
You can hardly manage to look at Hoseok, still overcome with so many thoughts and emotions.
Why on Earth would he do that for you? For years Hoseok had always just been your best friend’s annoying cousin that always made you feel like the odd guy out in their friendship. That only changed once you went to college and could finally be seen as a somewhat equal to him, you assumed.
“You’ve liked her for THAT long?” Hana asks. “I thought it was just a recent thing.”
That breaks you from your trance. “What are you talking about?”
“I’ve been noticing something was up with him recently, I figured maybe it was stress from work but I realized that he only acted that way whenever you were around or even just mentioned. I just assumed.”
“Oh no, it’s been going on way longer than you think,” Namjoon chimed in.
“I’ll fucking rip your hair out of your head if you say another word, Namjoon,” Hoseok threatens from the kitchen.
Namjoon ignores the blatant threat of violence to his scalp and continues. “Freshman year he wouldn’t shut up about how much he missed this girl from back home. Told us all about how she had one of the worst temperaments out of anyone he knew, but it was charming. After every vacation we would come back to school and he would say that she just keeps getting more beautiful every time he sees her. Super corny if you ask me, but the dude was clearly in love so hey, who was I to judge? Imagine my surprise now to find out that it was Y/N after all this time.”
Your eyes are glued to Hoseok and his eyes are glued to the floor. His knuckles are white from gripping the counter so hard.
You slowly stand up, before softly asking, “Hoseok, how long have you felt that way about me?”
His gaze doesn’t lift from the floor as he awkwardly chuckles. “Do you remember after your first day of high school, where you came home so excited because some guy asked you for your number?”
You stare at him in astonishment. “Hoseok, that was over fifteen years ago.”
He nods. “Embarrassing, right? To be in love with your cousin’s best friend for nearly two decades, with absolutely no expectation of reciprocation? Trust me, I tried to get over you. I dated other girls, I slept with other girls; you know that. At the end of the day though, I could be cuddling someone else and still be disappointed that it wasn’t you instead.”
His eyes lift from the floor to finally meet your wide ones. Your jaw drops a bit unexpectedly.
Of course you had always considered the fact that maybe one day you and Hoseok would end up together. It made sense, you had grown up together and he was that kind of friend where at 16 you make the agreement to marry each other if you aren’t already married by 30, but never actually take it seriously because you both know that it’ll never happen.
You had never suspected that he had felt this strongly about you for this long.
You rack your brain trying to think of any signs that you could have missed.
There was that one time when you were a junior in high school and you had just broken up with your first boyfriend after finding out that he had been texting other girls behind your back. Hoseok and Hana comforted you the whole day Saturday, watching reruns of That 70’s Show with you and stuffing your faces with cheesy breadsticks from the local pizza place. The following Monday at school, your ex-boyfriend showed up with a black eye. You were surprised but never questioned what had happened.
There was also the time when you were a senior in college doing your student teaching, and you were convinced that you had chosen the wrong major because the students you had to teach were so awful and rude to you. Hoseok had listened to you ramble on in tears about how you had screwed up your whole life and credit report for a profession that wasn’t right for you. He had calmed you down and talked some sense into you, and even helped you to develop a new lesson plan and teaching approach that might work better with the students, even though he knew close to nothing about math education or making lesson plans.
Then there was the time that you were all out at Yeona’s birthday dinner when you got the call from your mom that your grandfather had died. Hoseok was the one to drive you home and hold you all night as you sobbed over the loss of the man you had looked up to for so many years.
Then of course, the memory you didn’t even know was a memory until three minutes ago. Hoseok had dressed in his uncle’s tuxedo to take you to your prom, knowing how much you had gushed over going to prom since he had practically met you.
More memories came into play and hit you like a ton of bricks. You fell forward a bit, catching yourself on the arm of the chair previously occupied by Hoseok.
“Oh my God,” you whisper. You finally met his eyes and slowly began to walk over to him, a disbelieving pout on your face.
As you come closer to him, you’re hit with a new wave of emotions. This time, reminding you of all of the things he has done that have made your own heart flutter that you continuously pushed away.
The time that you first saw him after dance camp, and you noticed the way that his arms were a bit more toned than they were in the spring and you felt you heart rate increase, but blamed it on the frappucino you were drinking.
The time that you watched him in his first college dance showcase and you could see the passion in his face. The fluidity of his moves was enthralling, and continues to be to this day. You remember not being able to look away and getting a fluttery feeling in your stomach, but blamed it on the cold you were still getting over.
The time that you attended your first college party with him and he made sure that you didn’t get too out of control. He was dressed in an all black outfit that didn’t seem to suit his personality, but he still made it work and you felt your heart flutter again. When he pushed away the creepy guy that attempted to feel you up on the couch and your heart dropped into your stomach at the protectiveness you thought was coming from a big brother perspective.
The time that you got the offer for your full time job and he hugged you so tightly you thought he might snap you in half, and you got that same fluttery feeling in your stomach that you had all those times before.
How had you been so blind for so long?
Standing in front of him now, you look up at his face and graze his chin with your fingers, gingerly tilting his head up to look at yours.
Looking into his eyes briefly, you know instantly that you will not regret what you are about to do.
So you kiss him, and dear God it was like you had done it a million times before.
The way that you fall into each other so effortlessly, his hands grabbing at your sides as yours cupped his cheeks.
“I told you it would fucking happen! I knew she felt the same way!” Yeona yelled from behind you.
You break away from the kiss and immediately pull him into a hug, your head resting on his shoulder.
“You should have told me sooner,” you whisper.
“I couldn’t. I didn’t want to risk losing you completely,” he whispered back.
“Jung Hoseok,” you say in disbelief, pulling back a bit to look at his face. “Did you really think that little of me that you think I would cut you, someone that has stuck by my side for over twenty years, off in the blink of an eye because you have feelings for me that you thought I didn’t reciprocate?”
He simply stared at you, not knowing what to say.
You leaned your forehead against his, before whispering onto his lips, “You’re even stupider than I thought you were,” and kissing him again.
“Eh-hem,” you hear a throat clear from behind you again. Breaking away, you meet the eyes of Hana, arms crossed and giving you a smirk.
“Hana, if you’re not okay with this, we don’t have to-“
“Save it, I’ve been waiting for Hoseok to make a move for months. I’m glad you finally did. Just please keep the PDA to a minimum. I don’t need to see my cousin and my best friend sucking face and groping each other in front of me,” she shudders.
You laugh before turning back to Hoseok.
“Does this mean you’ll give me a chance?” Hoseok asks breathlessly.
“Of course it does, you idiot. Now kiss me again before I change my mind.”

Liam’s POV
School had been hell and I was trying my best to fit in but no one talked to me. Derek on the other hand had people introducing themselves to him every minute. He’d tried to get them to talk to me but of course they didn't and I didn’t mind, I was only here to finish school and I was doing this for mom. Dad had been a slight happier, he had been on edge lately and if we were to sneak up on him he’d look terrified. Of course neither Derek nor I told mom about it. Derek had made the basketball team and today was his first game, mom was excited to see him play, she hadn’t left the house in the past week and something told me she was excited to get out. She had been having so many emotions we didn’t know how to handle them, we restricted from telling her certain things. “Come on, we’re going to be late.” Mom spoke patting my head as she walk through the living room towards the door. I chuckled before standing up and following her to the car. We weren't far from school so it didn’t take long for us to get there. Dad and Derek had been preparing for the game and they hadn’t left school that day. “Do you think they’re going to win?” Mom spoke as she got out of the car and so did I.
“I’ve watched the team practice for two weeks now, I think they’ll do fine.” I smiled at her and she smiled back.
“You know I love you, right?” She bit her lip as she stopped right in front of the door.
“Yeah?” I looked at her confused and she sighed.
“I just don’t want you to think that I don’t because you’re not in that lacrosse team I don’t.” She was getting sentimental and I knew she was about to start crying, I didn’t like her like this but that’s what this baby was doing to her.
“Mom, it’s totally fine, I don’t even care about lacrosse right now, plus if I play lacrosse who’s going to stay at home with you and watch movies while eating cookies?” She giggled and I smiled when she wiped away the small tears.
“Okay, come on, they should be starting soon.” She smiled once more before walking into the gym. People flooded the stands and it was nothing like the stands back in beacon hills.
“Mom!” Derek’s voice rang from the loud crowd as he walked towards us taking mom into a hug.
“Hey honey, are you excited?” She clapped her hands once she pulled away from the hug and we both chuckled.
“I think you’re more excited than the both of us.” I spoke and she gently hit my arm.
“Hey, I'm about to watch my son play basketball for the first time, I was like this when I first watched you play, remember?” I smiled remembering how excited she was, she had dragged the whole pack there just to watch me.
“Where’s dad?” I looked over the overfilling gym noticing talking to a older woman. His eyes met mine and he excused himself before walking over to us.
“Hey.” He smiled as he took mom into his arms.
“You excited?” She smiled once he pulled away and nodded.
“Yeah, I think we got this first game, don’t you?” He patted Derek’s back who smiled and shrugged.
“Yeah I mean I guess we got this.” He smiled and I couldn’t help but to notice dad’s increasing heart rate.
“McCall!” The coach spoke and Derek looked back.
“That’s our call.” Derek spoke and him and dad both left before speaking another word.
“Is dad okay?” I looked at mom and she sighed.
“I think he’s still a little rough about the whole baby news.” She smiled and she turned to walk to the stands where we found an open spot for us to sit.
“Hi.” A voice spoke and I knew that voice. Mom turned around to look at girl who was after Derek since the day she got here. “I’m Hailey.” She smiled at mom looked at me and I shook my head.
“Nice to meet you.” Mom smiled before looking out into the court.
“Are you new here too?” She continued and I swear this girl wouldn’t give it up.
“Yes, I am.” Mom smiled and she had no idea what the hell was going on, neither did I.
“So your parents let you move to a different city with your boyfriend?” Mom looked and me and I shrugged. I didn't know what the hell she was getting at. “Look, Derek is mine and I don't know what he sees in you but I'm just letting you know that he’s going to be mine soon.” She snarled out and mom laughed.
“First of all Derek is my son, second of there’s no way in hell you’re going to be dating my son.” Mom spoke and I smiled.
“Mrs. McCall, wow, I'm so sorry.” Hailey started but mom put her hand up.
“Please, just leave us alone.” Mom sighed and she nodded.
“I’ll see you around Leonard.” She got up and I shook my head.
“She doesn’t know you does she?” I shook my head and I chuckled.
“She’s been after Derek since the day we first came in here.” Mom laughed and shook her head.
The game lasted longer than I had expected and I was getting tired of watching the ball go back and forth. Derek had scored most of the shots and all the players were beginning to get mad that they couldn’t get a shot in. They won which only made them be in the locker room longer. I had told mom I'd go in there and get Derek and dad so we could go. She had been tired and she was beginning to get moody once again. When I walked into the locker room I heard dad talking. I stayed back to listen in and I knew that it’ll only get me in trouble but he was acting strange and I needed to get to the bottom of it. “I just need someone to take care of them.” I heard dad speak.
“And where will you go?” I heard a lady’s voice and I couldn’t help but to peek and see the same lady from earlier.
“I have to go take care of some stuff before it catches up to me and I can’t have any of them in danger especially not (y/n).” He sighed and I bit my lip.
“I can't help you if I don’t know where you’re going.”
“I’m going back to beacon hills.”
“What?” I spoke up and dad looked my way.
“Liam.” He shook his head.
“You can’t go back to beacon hills, what about mom? She needs you right now, we all do.” Dad sighed and I looked at the lady. “And who’s this?”
“No one, look you can't tell your mom, I have to go, I have to fix it before they come and tear our lives apart.” Dad stepped towards me.
“Then I’m going with you.” I crossed my arms. “Don’t be stupid Liam, you’re mom needs you here.”
“She needs you here too! She’s pregnant dad, and you’re just going to leave her and what if you don’t come back, then what? Do you really think me and Derek know what we’re doing? We’re teenagers, we get her mad half of the time and I don't know what the hell we’re going to do if you don’t come back.” I hadn’t noticed my voice was loud until dad slammed me to the lockers.
“Listen I’m doing this for you mother and I'm doing this for you! You’re not going to tell her and you’re not going with me, let me make this right, not just for you or your mom but for that baby. I’m not going to sit here and let us be hunted down.” He let me go and I looked at the lady who looked down to her shoes.
“Then go, go and never come back. We’re better off without you anyways. You’ve been a zombie walking around like you don’t want to talk to any of us anyways.” I wiped the tears out of my face and turned around.
“Don’t tell your mom.” He spoke and I huffed walking out of the locker room.
_______________
Derek’s POV
I heard it all, Scott leaving, Liam telling him to go and never come back. Just a few moments ago I was celebrating my first ever basketball win and now I was faced with the decision of staying here or leaving with Scott. “Hey, good job today man, can’t wait to win the next game.” Tyler patted my back and I continued to look at the ground. “Hey, what’s wrong?”
“I won’t be here the next game.” I fiddled with my fingers and I knew that I had made up my mind.
“What? Why not? We need you man.” I shook my head.
“I’m going back home to take care of some stuff, and I don’t know if I'll be back.” I stood up and walked out of the locker room with my duffle bag slinging over my shoulder.
“Finally.” Mom smiled and she hugged me despite the sweat all over my shirt. I hugged her back taking it in as I felt like it was going to be the last time I had one of these. “What’s wrong?” She whispered into my ear and I shook my head.
“Nothing.” I pulled away and gave her my best smile. “I’m just tired.” I looked at Liam who’s eyes were hard and I wanted to tell him something about him telling Scott to never come back but I didn’t want him to know that I heard it all.
“Hey, you guys ready to go?” Scott spoke and mom smiled when she saw him. I hated that she was out of the loop and I hated that dad wanted to leave her with out saying anything.
“Let’s just get the hell out of here.” Liam spoke walking away and mom looked at his back.
“I think he’s mad about not being able to play lacrosse.” She sighed and she was clueless.
“Yeah, I think so too.” Scott spoke and I glared at him as I clenched my jaw.
_________
When we got back home Liam slammed the door to the room and Scott sighed. “I’ll talk to him.” He spoke and I put my hand on his chest.
“You’ve done enough.” Scott looked at me and mom sighed.
“Okay, what the hell is going on?” We both looked at her and she crossed her arms. “I’m pregnant, not blind, what the hell happened in that locker room?”
“Nothing.” Scott spoke and the door opened.
“Tell her or I will.” Liam spoke and mom looked at Liam.
“Don’t.” Scott growled and I sighed.
“He’s going back to beacon hills.” I spoke and mom looked at me.
“What? No, we can’t.” She shook her head.
“He was leaving with out telling you, he was planning on leaving without telling any of us.” Liam spoke and I could tell Scott was fuming but I didn’t expect him to grab Liam by the collar.
“I told you not to tell her. All you do is ruin everything, ever since the day she took you in it’s been about you and only you and now that I want to do something about helping her and our kid you keep ruining again.” I pulled him off of him and mom pushed Scott away from both of us.
“What the hell is wrong with you?” She wrapped her arm around Liam as she pulled him to her side. “You’re the one ruining things here Scott. I’ve done everything you wanted me to, I came here where I know no body for you, for them. You said you cared about them that’s why we came here, stop acting like you don’t want them here.” A pounding at the door broke her rant and we all looked at the door. Mom closed her eyes and released Liam from her grip and put her hands to her head. “It’s here.” She looked at Scott who looked at me and I shook my head when he tried to open the door. I rushed towards the door and stood in front of it.
“That’s why you’ve been acting this way, don’t you get it?” Scott’s eyes glowed red and I shined mine. “It’s been here all along, it followed us. Scott, you need to stop.”
“Scott!” Mom spoke and his eyes returned to his original color and he looked back at Mom who had Liam in her arms.
“Open the door, come on, it’s me.” I heard a familiar voice.
“Stiles.” Scott spoke before opening the door. But it was one of the worst mistakes he had ever done.

Missing my girls!
Authors note: I don’t know about this one. Let me know what you think. I’m trying to think of stories from a different perspective, whether I’ve done that here or not.. IDK.. Enjoy lol. x x
WARNINGS: Erm, none really.
Jared Imagine.
“Right girls family meeting in the den in 5 please” I called upstairs to mine and Jared’s 3 daughters. We had Scarlet 15, Phoebe 12 and Harmony (Mimi) 6.
The girls gathered in the den and took a seat each. Jared and I facing them. “Girls, I’m leaving to tour tomorrow. I want you to be on your best behavior for your mother” Jared said, looking over towards Scarlet knowing how she can be when he’s away. “Can we help you pack daddy?” Phoebe asked. “Yes, I need my personal stylists to help me” He laughed. Always leaving packing until the last minute. Luckily he was mostly packed just a few bits to put in, but he always welcomed the girls help. They went upstairs leaving me downstairs to finish dinner.
*Jared’s P.O.V*
My three beautiful children were sat on the bed with one of my suitcases. Scarlet laying against the headboard with her phone, Phoebe trying to see what she can steal from my case and Mimi actually rummaging through the suitcase. “Girls what do you think of this?” I asked holding up one of their moms dresses and making them laugh. “No daddy that’s mommy’s” Mimi giggled.
“Scar, get off your phone and get over here” I pouted. I wrapped my arms around my first born secretly wishing she’d stop growing. Or at least stop being a moody teenager. “Now when I’m gone will you please promise to help your mom around the house and not be a pain in the ass” I held her at arms length. “I guess” She replied. “That’s my girl”.
I hate to admit it but I could see how much my leaving would cause Scarlet pain. She was very much a daddy’s girl. But it’s my job. You’d think she’d be used to it.
“Dinner” Y/N called.
*Your P.O.V*
We all sat at the dinner table for our last meal together as a complete family, at least for a while. General chat filled the air as we tucked into our meal. The girls asking Jared to buy them things from each country. After dinner I cleaned the dishes while they put on a Disney movie. Once I’d finished I walked into the living room where all of the girls were snuggled up to their dad. I sat down next to Phoebe who snuggled into me as well. It always warmed my soul doing things like this. They always say it’s the little things that count in life. They’re not lying. Once the movie was over I woke up Mimi and took her upstairs for a quick wash and to brush her teeth and get ready for bed. I tiptoed out of her room and had a shower myself. I felt the warmth of a body I knew all too well wrap around me in the shower. “Hello handsome, what are you doing here?” I laughed. He smirked and closed the gap between us, gently pushing me under the water which was now raining down on our heads. “Just joining my beautiful wife in the shower” he kissed me again. “I’m going to miss you so much” I confessed. He spun me around so I was facing away from him. He lathered up the soap on my skin, each touch sent tingles down my spine, knowing this wasn’t going to happen for a while. “I’ll miss you too” he whispered now using the shower head to wash the fluffy suds off of me. His hand moving down in between my legs. “Do you want this Princess?” “MmmHmm..” ....
Once we were out of the steamy shower, I locked all of the doors in the house and checked on the girls. All sound asleep, probably so they could wake up early to say goodbye to their dad. I crawled into bed next to Jared. His hands found their way around my body bringing me in close to him. I nuzzled in close to his and fell asleep breathing in his sweet scent. Before I knew it the alarm was going off. It was time for him to get up and in about 20 minutes leave. I quickly rose too so I could make us a quick breakfast. When the porridge was in bowls I woke the girls so they could come downstairs and eat. Straight after breakfast a car arrived to pick up Jared. He gave each child a gift whenever he left. Nothing expensive, but something that would mean something to each of them. He gave me a kiss and a small box which contained a Pandora ring. Okay so nothing expensive for the girls, but I’m his wife. All three girls and myself waved off Jared trying to keep brave faces and failing. We shut the door and went inside. Scarlet went straight to her room, Phoebe and Mimi stayed with me. “Do you girls want a hot chocolate?” I asked them both. They nodded their heads. “Go and put on a movie and I’ll make some, yeah?”. Off they went to put on a movie. I boiled some milk and brought out 4 mugs from the cupboard. I poured in the milk to each mug then added the powder. I put extra milk in for the young girls so they wouldn’t burn themselves. I walked in on the girls huddled together under a blanket watching a movie. “Thank you mommy” the both said reaching out for their hot chocolates. I moved back into the kitchen where I picked up Scarlet’s one and brought it upstairs. Knocking on the door I hear her sniffling. “Honey, I brought you up a hot chocolate. As I opened the door she rushed over to me shoving me backwards and yelling at me “a hot chocolate will not make me feel better”, causing me to spill the hot drink down my arm. “Ahh fuck” I shouted in pain. She looked horrified at what she’d done. I rushed to the bathroom to run my arm under the cold water. I’d expected her to come in and apologize but nothing.
A few days later in the evening Jared called me on face time. Unbeknownst to me Scarlet was just outside my door. She was making her way to the toilet.
“Hey how’s things?” he asked. “Missing my girls!” he added. “ We miss you too and...Erm, not great” I started to tell him. “I just feel like I’m doing a shitty job as a parent you know. Scar and I used to be so close when she was younger. Now she hates me and not to put this on you but I think its when you leave. She knows just how to push all of my buttons and we just...” I start sobbing. “Maybe I shouldn’t have stayed in this relationship” That threw Jared over the edge. “Well you know what if you feel that way maybe you shouldn’t have” he’d hung up on me. I was now crying by myself,. Why would I say that to him. Of course I loved him. How stupid was I to say that to him. I heard a soft knock on my door, it was Scarlet crying too. I quickly wiped away my tears. “Mom, are you and dad gonna get a divorce because of me?” “No honey, why would you think that?” I waved her over to me so she could sit beside me. “Because I’ve been horrible to you and you just said to daddy you don’t want to be here anymore”. “Oh no, baby I didn’t mean it. Sometime things get a bit overwhelming. You know you aren’t the easiest kid when your father goes away” I told her truthfully. “I know I’m sorry I don’t mean to take it out on you. I just... It just makes me sad when he can’t come to my performances at school. My band and I are playing this weekend but he’s in Italy”. “Baby, you know that he tries to make it to everything you do. However it is harder for him when hes half way across the world. Don’t you think he misses us every single day he has to be away? We are his life just as much as his band is too” I looked at her. Her eyes were forming big tears as she’s realized it’s not just her who his going away takes a tole on, and her behavior. She buried her head into my fluffy night gown. “Mommy, I’m so sorry and about the other day when I’d pushed you. I didn’t mean for you to burn yourself. Are you guys gonna split up? I’d hate for that to happen. I didn’t think about the bigger picture. I’ll be a better daughter I swear”. “Thank you for your apology. But no daddy and I are not going to split up. Couples fight. But we’ll be fine. Shall we ring him back so we can both apologize?” I asked her. She nodded at me and pulled the laptop towards her and me. My arm was around her soothingly stroking her arm. The face time ringer was going off and Jared’s face popped up. “First of all daddy, let me speak. I’m sorry for being a brat and treating mom like dirt. We’ve had a talk and I’m going to not be a ‘Pain in the ass’” She told him repeating the phrase he used. “I guess its my turn to apologize” I laughed nervously.
“You’re both forgiven” he smiled.

About
Douglas Adams once wrote, “It’s one thing to think that you’re the center of the universe — it’s another thing entirely to have this confirmed by an ancient prophecy.” That’s the cornerstone of a thousand stories, a trope that defies cultural boundaries or the limits of time. The hero is more important than anyone else, and only they can save the world. The X-Men have had chosen one’s a plenty but in their darkest hour, in the wake of M-Day, there was only one girl who could save them all.
Hope Summers didn’t remember the war fought over her when she was days old. How the small Alaskan town she was born in burnt to the ground, how Nathan came to her rescue, or how a distraught Cyclops ordered his only son to keep her safe in the future. Two things she did remember, the mad man Bishop who razed the world to find her, and her father Nathan who went to every length to protect her.

New Liberty was her first home. Nathan took her there when she was very young and raised her with his new wife, a woman named Hope. He didn’t give the child a name, he didn’t think it was his right, so for seven years she was just his little girl. Years of peace were ruined when the new United States Army, composed of the insectoid inheritors of the Earth, attacked New Liberty. The little girl knew that Nathan, always the soldier, had planted semtex around the house, and she proved to be her father’s daughter. She pulled the trigger and decimated the army, allowing her family to escape. It was her first act of war.

They ran from New Liberty, across the devastated wasteland that was once the world. She understood that it was a fight for survival and forewent her food rations to ensure they went where they were needed most. Nathan, his wife Hope, and the little girl became nomads like his parents before him. They were careful but the world was dangerous and on a routine stop, Hope was shot. They buried her, but in her memory, Nathan had decided. He had a name for his daughter, the one thing the mutant race needed more than anything else, Hope.

The years passed and Hope Summers grew into a teenage soldier her father would be proud of. She had experience love, loss, peace, and war. Running from Bishop and learning from Cable made her a better fighter than anyone ever imagined. Hope knew she was ready to be the savior every mutant needed her to be. They returned to the present day and it did not go unnoticed. A race was on to get to Hope first. Bastion, the Purifiers, and The Right on one side. The X-Men, X-Force, and New Mutants on the other. The X-Men were able to bring the pair to their home base of Utopia, but there were losses on both sides. Worse yet, Bastion trapped the mutants on Utopia sending wave after wave of Sentinels to exterminate them.

To stop the Sentinels, Nathan led X-Force on a suicide mission. Many escaped, but Hope had to watch as her father sacrificed himself to save her, and the entire mutant race. Bastion was not yet finished and approached the distraught young girl. She had lost the only constant in her ever-changing life thanks to him. He needed to pay. Hope’s X-Gene ignited and she began to mimic the powers of every mutant around her. She was truly ready to be the savior of the mutant race and obliterated Bastion as a fiery raptor appeared. And like that, five lights appeared on Cerebro, the first new mutants since Hope was born.

Hope, alongside the X-Men whose stories her father had told her at bedtime, visited each of the five lights. Their new powers were out of control, but Hope calmed them with a touch. They formed a new mutant strike force, working towards the survival of their race. But not all were satisfied with her leadership. Zero was terrified that Hope’s touch had changed them and Transonic didn’t like Hope turning children into warriors. It came to a head when Oya had to kill dozens of Hellfire Club grunts. Transonic wasn’t willing to let the innocent girl become a soldier in Hope’s war and forced Hope to send Oya to the Jean Grey School. Zero soon led a revolt against Hope and died in the process. The lights were scattered and broken, and Hope’s first attempt at leadership with a failure.

She was taken under the wing of her grandfather, Cyclops. He had Hope join his Extinction team and pushed her to become the messiah they were promised. He saw the red haired, green eyed girl with fire around her and wondered if she was ready to be the savior they needed. Training on Utopia, he went too hard and something erupted inside her. It was the telltale flare of the Phoenix, the symbol of death yes, but also rebirth. Always rebirth. At the same time the Phoenix Force charged towards Earth, and the Avengers weren’t ready for it to inhabit a moody sixteen-year-old. They marched to the beaches of Utopia and demanded the mutant messiah. The X-Men did not oblige. As war broke out, Hope felt the Phoenix rising inside her. She ran. It was Wolverine she trusted, she knew that if she couldn’t control the Phoenix, he would have the constitution to do what needed done. They stole an AIM spaceship and sent off to the Blue Area of the Moon, ready to face fate.

Hope felt the Phoenix as it drew near, she was ready to embrace it, but something happened. Iron Man tried to destroy the cosmic force but only diverted it. Instead of Hope, it resided in five other mutants led by Cyclops. The Phoenix Five were reshaping the world in their own image but Hope wasn’t alright with it and ran to the Avengers. In their K’unn-Lunn hideout, Hope trained with Spider-Man and Iron First to learn how to control the Phoenix Force. She confronted Cyclops and took the power from him. Alongside Scarlet Witch, she released the Phoenix Force and restored the X-Gene across the globe. She had fulfilled her destiny and restored the mutant race.

What does the chosen one do once the prophecy has been fulfilled? In this case, Hope tried being normal, but it didn’t stick. A child raised in war had no tolerance for the pettiness of high school. She yearned to join her father’s (who was resurrected, but it’s not important how) X-Force squad and Nathan relented, proud of the daughter he raised. When Hope discovered that Bishop was alive, in the present, and working with the X-Men, she felt deeply betrayed and hunted him down, only for the both to be captured by her father’s clone Stryfe. Stryfe placed her in a locked room with a bound Bishop and a sharp Psimitar. She wanted to run the blade through Bishop but knew that if Stryfe wanted that, she would be wise to do the opposite. She granted him mercy and X-Force came to their rescue.

Cable decided to bond with his daughter the one way he knew how, by taking her to an international arms convention. A mutant terrorist attack there killed three thousand and left Hope in a coma. Her powers allowed her to mimic a technopath and join the team in secret. She interacted with the nanomachines in Fantomex’s brain and the two formed a relationship before his quest for perfect drove him mad. Cable couldn’t rally X-Force against him, but Hope could. The team worked together to stop Fantomex and Hope decided that her dad needed a break. She fired him from her X-Force and solidified her role as the protector of the race she worked so hard to restore.

Must Read
Hope had a lot of focus for a good five years. With how thoroughly decimated the X-Books were from M-Day they needed something to keep them moving. In Second Coming Hope provided that in spades. She was their conflicted messiah and it shone through, even with a rotating creative team. It is an exciting story about risking everything at your darkest hour and becoming who the world needs you to be.
Art by David Finch
Ranking
Hope is such a hard character to rank. She had a strong arc with a definite ending, but the nature of superhero comics is that nothing ever ends. Since AvX she has been floundering with books that just don’t know what to do with a character who’s defining motivation has been obliterated. But those five years? Those were good. Hope isn’t as good as her dad but I think she is better than her aunt Rachel. I think she is more engaging than Legion but X-23 has played similar roles to Hope better. That slots Hope Summers in as the new 26 in the Xavier Files.
