As an Earper and a LoK fan…FUCK THIS BITCH.

Legend of Korra did more for Women of Color and Bisexual representation than Wynonna Earp EVER did. Sis needs to use her grown ass brains & finally understand korrasami was not random. It was hinted at since s3. They couldn’t show it because Nickelodeon was biphobic. Matter of fact, the creators wanted korrasami from the very beginning.

It's extremely problematic to see a white creator, come for the validity of Korrasami - the first WoC ship that changed the game for ALL of wlw representation; when the Wynonna Earp fandom is known for alienating fans of color because of its inherent racism.

Doc Holliday (Wynonna Earp ed.) and Spike (BTVS)

I am a very new fan of Wynonna Earp, gotten into it like I haven't gotten into a show in a long time. It strikes me that Doc Holliday (by the end of S2/beginning S3) is about as close to a Spike-character as you can get when you're being INTENTIONAL about it. Of course, one can never recreate James-Marsters-holding-onto-his-job on purpose, but I'm curious if anyone else has noticed the similarity or if there's much overlap between the fandoms?

[initial reactions] Star Trek: Strange New Worlds 2x04 - Among the Lotus Eaters

I don't know what it is about this episode but this is the episode that' really made me feel.

I already liked SNW but for some reason, I've felt a distance towards the show and characters that I can't really explain. I like all the characters, particularly Uhura, La'an, and Una but it feels like there's a remove?

Like a stretchy fabric between myself and the characters that's all on me, intellectually, I knew I liked the show! I love the look but emotionally it hadn't touched me, again it's totally on me. I've been wrestling with it since I watched all seasons of SNW.

But this episode? Somehow it breached the barriers and I felt it.

Maybe because SNW tackling one of the themes I've always loved -- identity. Especially the amnesia trope, who are you in the dark, or in this case, who are you if they remove all your memories?

Pike is still a good man with a good heart, and Dr. M'Benga is a healer despite what he had to do during the war. La'an, unfortunately, got the short shrift since she spent most of the time recuperating but, also at heart, a good person. A loyal person and a damned good security chief.

And Lieutenant Erica Ortegas is a damned great pilot.

Also, a starship navigating through an asteroid field? Always a favorite for me -- like c'mon there's a reason why I adored the asteroid/nebula scene in Picard S3!

Plus, this is another show that has a Starfleet ship throwing asteroids around!

(Not to mention the Chateau Picard wine on the dinner date with Captain Wynonna Earp and Pike!)

i was tagged weeks ago by @crackers4jenn (*waves* sorry it takes me ages, i'm a scatterbrain)

last song: had to check my youtube history because i rarely listen to music and apparently it was precious by depeche mode on July 12th, lol. it's the soundtrack at the end of bones 1x10 and rewatching the episode always makes me want to listen to the song again.

currently watching: of the shows that are still on right now, only what we do in the shadows. (i think how i met your father s2 officially ended, i mean to pick nancy drew back up but i don't remember where in s3 I fell behind) but i'm in a perpetual process of rewatching/watching so many things, just since the beginning of the summer i've rewatched s3-5 of community, the entirety of black books, went back to white collar which i had abandoned after s2 and watched s3-4 in full before getting distracted, i am also in a neverending rewatch of castle and bones that's been going on since like 2016. earlier this year i was rewatching rizzoli&isles, warehouse 13, grimm, etc. did not finish them all. i jump around a lot depending on my mood. also mean to get back to my lucifer and wynonna earp rewatch at some point. i very rare finish shows and then i get back and have to start from the beginning and then i don't finish anyway, it's a vicious circle, i don't like saying goodbye. also i have no attention span. i guess technically i am also in the process of watching hawaii five-0 but i haven't watched any new (for me) episodes in a loooong time because canon is such a drag compared to the happy au land i've been living in. i do also watch some shows that are on hiatus right now but i probably wouldn't even remember them all. i only remember when they come back. suffice to say i watch a lot of tv lol.

currently reading: embarrassingly, nothing. only stuff that comes up on my tumblr dash 🤷🏻‍♀️. i haven't even read fanfic since ao3 was blocked in my country in april of this year. because of how my brain works if you add an extra step to something i am used to doing (aka i have to turn on vpn to open ao3 links) i am just that much less likely to do it. i miss losing myself in a book but my brain is too preoccupied by my blorbos to be able to invest in anything new.

current obsession: probably shocking to no one who follows me, it's mcdanno. this ship ate my brain in november of 2021 and since then its hold on me has not lessened at all, probably got worse, lmao. i found myself unable to gather any feelings about any of my old long time ships because all that space has been eaten up by steve and danny's insane chemistry and frustrating and wonderful epic love story. also within the mcdanno fandom the obsession of recent months has been building/brainstorming aus with aron @emphasisonthehomo (best rp partner one could wish for) . and i guess you can call making mcdanno screencap edits and metas an obsession of its own.

I liked the finale more than I was expecting! thoughts on the finale/season overall...

pros: - wynonna earp survived! (so far...) - scotty was MUCH more tolerable TOS character to work into the show than kirk, who has just been totally bland and annoying in all his appearances. let him go on his way though. we've had enough cameos... - gorn battle was fun and felt kind of like an old school star trek season finale, especially with the way it ended on a cliffhanger like that. i say old school in a good way in this instance. in comparison to picard s3, SNW has done much better in capturing the "older" star trek vibes in a refreshing, not overly nostalgia-bait way (prob also helps that i actually like most of the characters whereas i don't really have any strong affection for any of the TNG characters)

cons: - una needs more things to do. ad astra was THE best ep of the season but she has had nothing to do since then - chapel / spock are getting kind of annoying. the writers went too fast w/ their relationship basically i think? should have let them be together this season (thus opening up their storylines for this season for other plots other than their relationship drama), and then wait until next season to have their drama if we really need to go through that - spock is not Aloof enough. his character is just weird right now idk hopes for next season: - una gets a lesbian romance - la'an and chapel have storylines not centered around men (ideally, they could be lesbians too, but i won't ask for too much ����) - ortegas gets an actualy storyline that isn't just about the fact that she's the Pilot - kirk does not appear any more. pls
