Prompt: Day 6 - Tired

“Gray,” Loke says, pulling on his boyfriend’s wrist. He receives no response. Gray’s eyes are shut gently, his breathing coming in soft puffs. His arms are propped up on the table, hands supporting his chin.

“Gray,” he says again, yanking on Gray’s necklace this time - no shirt collar to be found as he has somehow stripped in his fitful doze.

Gray’s eyes fly wide open, and he yelps, “I wasn’t sleeping!”, shaking his head and rubbing his eyes.

Personally, Loke finds that newly-awake expression on his boyfriend’s face the cutest thing ever.

Or he would, if Gray didn’t keep falling asleep goddamn everywhere.

To tell the truth, Loke is more than a little annoyed - but he is also concerned. Gray is always drowsy and tired nowadays. His reflexes are not as quick as they used to be, report Erza and Lucy, and Loke himself has seen that slight change in Gray - where before he would react within a millisecond, now he takes at least five seconds. It is not a good sign, and it worries Loke.

“Gray - are you okay?” he asks, grasping Gray’s long fingers.

“Y - yeah, I am, Loke, don’t worry,” says Gray with a smile that doesn’t reach his eyes.

Loke looks at Gray thoroughly, completely unconvinced by his answer. He scrutinizes every inch of Gray’s face, and notices the red, prominent capillaries in his eyes, the bags under them, the droopy eyebrows.

“Have you been sleeping properly?” he demands.

Gray doesn’t answer, looking down at his and Loke’s hands intertwined.

That’s all the confirmation Loke needs.

“You haven’t,” he accuses. “Why?”

Gray mumbles something that Loke can’t hear.

“What was that, now?”

Gray looks up and says quietly, “I’ve been doing lots more mission paperwork - because Lucy is Erza’s bridesmaid, you know, and she and Erza are so busy prepping for the wedding, and Natsu… well, you know how he is.  And it takes so long because Natsu and I and Erza tend to destroy a ton of stuff - I try not to, but yeah. I’ve also been helping out a bit more with the bar and missions and stuff because Mira is too busy with the wedding too,”

Loke frowns. Come to think of it, he had seen Gray tending the bar nowadays. 

“Well, young man,” he scolds, much like a disapproving parent. “You’re lucky we’re on a dinner date. As soon as we finish, you’re going home and you’re getting into bed and you are sleeping until you can’t sleep anymore. Even if you open your eyes, I’ll make you go right back to sleep.”

“Loke!” Gray exclaims softly, hitting his boyfriend’s arm. “I’m fine.”

“No, you’re not,” admonishes Loke. “You could die from lack of sleep. You’re going straight to bed at nine, and that’s that. It’s eight-fifteen, we’ll finish eating quick and get you in bed, got that?”

“…okay,”

The assent is surprising - usually Gray would protest more. Is his boyfriend up to something?

“Straight home, and no detours,” Loke warns. Gray is a master of circumvention and distraction, beating around the bush till the original topic or purpose is completely forgotten.

“But I can’t go straight home,” mumbles Gray, looking down again.

Loke narrows his eyes. “And why is that?”

Gray lifts his head, a wicked smile on his features lighting up those tired eyes.

“Because I’m gay,” he laughs.

Loke should have seen that one coming.

He laughs a little too, then reaches for Gray’s fork.

“Okay, let me just feed you this, and we’ll go.”

Gray looks affronted. “I’m a big boy, I can feed myself. Focus on your food.“ To prove his point, he scoops up a forkful of pasta from his half-empty plate and sticks it in his mouth.

Loke observes amusedly for a couple of minutes, then goes back to his own chicken.

Once the boys are done and Loke has retrieved his boyfriend’s shirt from where he had accidentally flung it on a sleeping waiter, Gray insists on paying, and Loke guiltily agrees (Celestial Spirits don’t exactly have wallets, but he did have some Jewel saved up from living in the Human World and forgot to bring it)

“Thanks for the dinner,” Loke says, standing up on his tiptoes and brushing a feather-light kiss to Gray’s forehead. 

Gray smiles.

Loke doesn’t waste another second in dragging him down the streets to Gray’s house. He makes Gray unlock the apartment and forces him down the hallway into his bedroom, hands on his back, steering him along the path.

Gray stumbles onto the bed from the force of Loke’s last push.

“Loke,” he whines. “At least let me change. You need to go out for that.”

Loke knows what Gray is trying - it’s a horribly pathetic excuse for someone with his habit, though.

“That’s pathetic, I’ve seen you naked a million times before,” he says. “I know what you’re doing. And I’ve known you to strip in your sleep. Go. To. Bed.”

Gray pouts, but quickly strips and lies down in the bed.

Loke yanks the neatly-folded cover from under Gray and drapes it over him. He tucks the duvet up to Gray’s chin and kisses his forehead gently.

Gray is already asleep, his soft breathing filling the silent room.

“Goodnight, love,” Loke murmurs, slipping out.

He heads to Lucy’s house to ask her if he can stay the night at Gray’s place. One night in the Human World will do no harm. She agrees, a little worried, and he reassures her, explaining Gray’s predicament, saying he survived for three months and one night will do nothing.

In the morning, at ten, Gray wakes up to find Loke’s sleeping face in front of his, his strong arms wrapped around Gray’s torso.

Gray smiles, poking his boyfriend.

“Wake up, Loke,” he whispers. “You need to go back, you’ll be ill otherwise.”

Loke yawns and opens his eyes.

“Rest today. Don’t go take any Jobs, don’t go getting into any fights. Stay home. watch some movies or something. I can come over tonight too-”

But this is where Gray draws the line. “No. You stay in the Spirit World. You need to be healthy too. It’s too late to go to the guild now for someone who is usually as early as I am, anyway. Tell Lucy I’m staying home, okay? I love you.”

They kiss for a few seconds, and Loke teleports away.

Gray lies back down after Loke is gone, drawing the covers up to his chin and closing his eyes.

He falls into dreamland with a smile on his lips as he wonders what he did to deserve such a wonderful boyfriend.

Fairy Tail Pride Day 17

Hi! Warning for this one: Gore, Self-Harm, Hallucinations and Mentions of Death. Not for kiddos.

Prompt: “Mortal bodies, timeless souls”

Pairing: Bicksfreed, Frickslow

Rain spattered gently on the smooth, cold stones, gathering into puddles on the uneven ground. Even though there had been no exposed bodies for weeks, the garden still reeked of death.

Bickslow could feel his body trembling. Although the war had ended two months ago, the wounds were still fresh. They had lost so many that the guild house's garden had been converted to a cemetery. He was lucky to have made it out with his life. But was his life even worth living anymore?

He could recognize the souls that glowed from above the headstones. Warren… Max… Juvia... Elfman… Gajeel… Cana… Vijiteer… Lucy… Makarov.... His eyes finally rested on the soul in front of him.

...Freed.

The rune wizard had lost his life the way he had wished to as a child: protecting his loved ones. The seith mage shuddered as he remembered watching his lover's body be broken and torn apart in front of him.

A strangled gasp of tears escaped his throat. The blood on his hands was so vivid. It dripped from his fingers, melting his skin to show the guilt and agony pent up underneath it. The words in the air and on the graves screamed at him, It's all your fault he's dead. You could have protected him. He would still be alive if you had been strong enough to keep him safe.

He tried to close his eyes, but they were still there, taunting and blaming him until it drove him mad.

Bickslow let out a wail of agony, throwing his mask to the ground. Maybe… maybe the words would leave him alone if he couldn't see them. He grabbed a glass vase, smashing in on the ground. Without hesitation, he grabbed a shard of broken glass and slashed deep cuts over his eyes. The seith mage screamed in pain, feeling his own blood coat his hands.

There. Now I never have to see their souls.

Bickslow could feel his body growing weak and dizzy. He tried to stand up, but crashed to his knees. A scream of horror broke through the rain as he collapsed to the ground into a puddle of his own blood and tears.

When We Take Different Paths

Event Details:

What is it?

When we Take Different Paths is a 5 week art/writing event that will take place from October 1st-31st of 2018. Every week will explore and celebrate  a different aspect of lgbt including- wlw/femslash, mlm/slash, gender identities and sexual identities. The last 3 days will be reserved for Halloween.

What types of entries will be accepted?

We will accept art, fiction (drabbles, one-shots and multi chapter), edits (videos, gifsets, aesthetics) and head canons. Please use the tag wwtdp for all submissions. All work must be original to the person entering it.

Is there a minimum word count?

No there isn’t we will be accepting everything from drabbles all the way to multi-chapter fics.

Is there any content that will not be allowed?

No entries containing references to pedophilia, incest or character bashing will be accepted. All entries should treat their subject matter respectfully.

Can I submit a new chapter to a published fiction as my entry?

All work must be previously unpublished. New chapters of an already published work will not be accepted, however a stand alone one-shot based on an existing work is acceptable.

Do the characters involved have to be in a romantic/sexual relationship or can I write them platonically?

You are welcome to write them either way. Choosing a pairing only means that your fiction will revolve around the two of them, how they interact is entirely up to your imagination.

Will you accept smut or pwp in your event?

Yes, you are welcome to submit this type of fiction as long as you tag and rate it appropriately, and follow all the other event rules (no pedophilia, characters are not demeaned or dehumanized).

How should I rate my fanfiction?

You should use the AO3 Guidelines . Please make sure to tag for any potential triggers.

When is the deadline to submit?

We will be accepting entries as early as September 16th. We will have a collection available on AO3 for every week where you can submit your fiction, or you can submit to our website or our blog @ftlgbtales​. All entries will be reblogged on our tumblr. We will accept entries throughout the month of October but we will still reblog any late entries.

If you only publish on Tumblr go directly to the Submit link on the @ft-wwtdp​ page and submit your post link. Make sure to add all appropriate tags. You’re done! 

If you’re an AO3 user submit your entry directly to our Collections. There is one available for every week:

Week 1 - WLW/Femslash

Week 2 - MLM/Slash

Week 3 - Gender Identitities

Week 4 - Sexual Identities

Week 5 - Spooky Tales

Go to the appropriate collection and click on Post To Collection, then proceed to submit as you normally would. Please add wwtdp and tumblr:ftlgbtales to your story tags.
