South Africans speak a lekker English, we’ve got a lot of slang words and google tells me there are more than 43!! Some of my favourites explained and used in a sentence: 1. Bliksem! = To Hit, or something shocking [Bliksem! that building is tall. / Watch it or I’ll Bliksem you!] 2. Howzit! = How is it going / How are you? [Howzit dude?] 3. Eish! = Oops [Eish, what did I do there?] 4. Is it? = is that so? [is it?] 5. Kiff / Kief = Cool [Jislaaik that’s one Kiff photo hey!] 6. Jislaaik = an expression of surprise [Jislaaik you’re right that photo is lekker] 7. Lekker = great / tasty [Man that’s lekker or Flip that’s a lekker one.] 8. Flip = Used as emphasis or as a euphemism [That’s flippen nice! or You flippen idiot!] 9. Prendi una birra da 66Cl e il pacco rimanente dei Brownie e ti rimpiazzi davanti al pc aprendo Netflix nella speranza di colorare questo ponte di qualcosa che non sia nuovamente depressivo. ”è brutto sfiorare con i polpastrelli qualcosa che desideri dal tuo profondo del cuore per poi tornare nel tuo stupido mondo troppo reale”. << Bah... >> Premi invio, apri una nuova puntata di Happy! e per un attimo ti senti nel tuo mondo immaginario, come Nick Sax in preda ad allucinazioni, con una vita disastrata tutto che va a pezzi a ma troppo strafottente e con talmente poca umiltà da non amettere che non hai solo toccato il fondo del primo barile ma stai raschiando anche il secondo. È veramente questo che si desiderava quando a sei anni ci proiettavamo all’età adulta? Avreste mai pensato a buttare via un giorno di riposo in serie televisive e quando se ne lavorano sei su sette!?
