Really been enjoying The Starry Love
Well, half of it. The Void Realm stuff has been interesting & full of great characters (I did not expect to like Wudai as much as I did, but he is King of the Himbos & I am here for it) an intriguing plot as the brothers vie for power, & actual chemistry between the couple, while the Heavenly Realm stuff... has not
Though Ye Tan has gotten much less childish & obnoxious in the last few episodes (I do love it when a character is down to fight god - or at least tell god to his face to go fuck himself), & she is off on a quest to restore her husband’s missing personality. So maybe they’ll eventually become a couple I actually give a fuck about ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
We’ll see, I guess

After much work, the first set is done! Omi’s progression from Wudai to Post-Dragon with all the accomplishment steps in between!
Some definitions I went with as far as each step was concerned:
五帝= Wudi = five emperors
職 = Shoku = duty/profession
专家 = Zhuanjia = expert/specialist
Tashi/Tasshi = Apprentice Master in Karate and Tibetan word meaning "good fortune" or "auspiciousness".
Additionally: each Dragon starting at Shoku level gets their own unique dragon emblem which I’ve drawn out here! (The colors change to become unique at Zhuanjia though)
Raimundo obviously gets the same one he already has in the show which, thankfully, already looks like a wisp of air~

Made a new look for Raimundo's casual outfit + Designed his Shoku warrior outfit, and also redesigned his Wudai (or I guess it's Shoku now) aura
I figured now that Raimundo is the leader, his warrior outfit would've completely changed and be drastically different from the other monks; not just from a color scheme perspective, but the general look overall. I kept the red, black and yellow (gold) color scheme from his temple outfit because, well, it makes sense. (Also the color scheme goes hard.)
For his Shoku aura, I wanted to change the color to be more of a golden yellow outline, as well as adding sparkling astral stars to help him stand out from the rest — signifying that he is the universe's chosen leader.
(Also for everyone wondering, in my headcanon and the fic I'm writing, I kept Omi's aura as blue instead of white. All is finally restored lol)
#xiaolin showdown#raimundo pedrosa#my art#metallic figment#im a big sucker for golden coded characters#so i took this opportunity to enhance raimundo's shoku warrior design a bit

Another XS Jack is the dragon of metal AU/Fic prompt where instead it's the slowest burn/reveal. Like due to circumstances Jack has to team up with the dragons from longer than just a certain mission so he starts hanging around temple more.
Omi is right there form the start wanting to spend time with him, the other monks slightly hesitant but as soon as he's there a while and like he's not backstabbing us they all start to chill. It starts with video game challenges that turns into marathon, then Omi mentioning about not seeing certain movies and Jack bringing a giant TV and them just being watching and hanging out being kids.
Eventually Jacks staying over there more than at his house/lab, it started from staying over after getting back from Wu hunt late, and then a movie marathon and eventually Jack's got his own little section near the others.
He starts watching them training while he's working on Jackbots and starts paying attention and Omi starts dragging him in asking if he wants to learn some moves? It would help in their joint effort...Turns out years of figure skating he's pretty good at combat once the find the right style for him. He realize a lot on speed (Years of running away has definitely helped him) Kimiko and him become sparring partners. He still uses tricks through a lot of fake outs to mess with people.
He ends up wearing some temple robes after a laundry incident of Dojo messing up some clothing some he just wears them and customizes them a bit... but they're comfortable and kinda do work well if he's practicing with others so starts wearing them more.
He ends up storing his Wu in the vault as well because it makes sense if he leaves them at his house someones gonna steal it so it just makes sense. As does improving their security.
When they are going after Wu together he still fights them for it, thought it's less for the Wu but also 'I challenge you to a xiaolin showdown winner gets the wu... loser has to dishes for the next week'
He also goes up against others try to steal it, the first time he does he loses and is ready for mocking but instead the dragons are all like 'hat one move was so awesome' 'you almost had him', any jokes are lgihthearted and it's the first time he's lost and not been berated or insulted by who he's working with.
When the truce should end the big threat dealt with.... no one says anything or points it out. Jack keeps staying there and keeps training and everything just keeps going on.
After a while Jack notices his belt on his robes has changed color, he doesn't think anything of it.
It's only when master Fung comes over and says it's time for him to go find his wudai weapon that Jack's like 'Wait my what now....WAIT? AM I A XIAOLIN DRAGON?'

Come here my Wudai weapon! Here boy! Here!
*whistles* Come here boy! --Yes! It has heard me!
Omi whistling to try to call his weapon to his side the same way he saw Chase whistle to call the jungle cats to his side. So cute, the little things they either have in common or the little ways that Omi mimics him.
(It didn't work since the weapon in question was Clay's boomerang, but the Shimo Staff probably would come to Omi if he whistled to it like a fallen warrior.)

Why Omi would be a bad shoku warrior:
Many might think that the best choice when it comes to picking a leader would be Omi. Why? I think it's because of the fact he's kinda like the main character. Kinda. Cuz in theory there's 4 main characters and that obviously is Omi, Rai, Kim and Clay, but Omi is the first one we see, the first episode is basically focused on him realizing he’s there as a subject of teaching and not the teacher, and he probably has the most episodes that are mainly about him. He has the biggest amount of showdowns and maybe even the most quotes. He's also so fixated about being a xiaolin monk, he often talks about his honor and how he loves to fight and generally how awesome he is. Even my older sister who didn’t watch the show when asked said that Omi became a leader. Just because it suits him, right? He's ambitious, focused on his goals, this reality is everything he knows, so isn't it enough, isn't he a perfect choice? Well, no, and I will prove why *fingers cracking*
#1. Omi is too self focused, narcissistic & egocentric:
Don’t say he's just confident. Being narcissistic is not the same as being confident. He's cocky, he makes fun of others (Raimundo) for their mistakes, he sees himself as the better person in everything and tends to bend what he knows is bad when he really wants to do it to fit his own fake narrative. He loves himself too much, just too much for this position. I saw a quote that said If you want to see if someone is a narcissist you have to listen to how they wish you a happy birthday or any other thing. If they make it somehow about themselves - they're narcissistic. Omi does this, and the example is how when the monks tried to corrupt Dojo with gifts to see if he knows who's gonna be wudai or shoku warrior they all gave him something... normal. Rai - A chain with letter “D”, Kim - basket with fruits and for Clay it probably was a hat cuz I don't remember. Omi gave him a portrait of himself. Not of Dojo but of him. Narcissist 100%
#2.He wants to be better than everyone and is blinded by that:
Remember when everyone got those kind of wu that were only theirs and they were supposed to like work with that one individual element? The ones they put on their hands? 😅 xD Anyway, Bean Roy knew Omi and the other monks the shortest, since he was the last “big villain" that occurred on the show. And yet he knew that his ego is so big and so prone to suggestions, especially the ones that might make him “even better" than everyone else, that he did go to his head and just whispers "Hey, u know u can use everyone's wu and u will be like super powerful after that?". That's all, he literally didn’t do anything more than that. With Raimundo when he did the same thing - he tried psychological tricks to break him, he had to search for deep things in his mind to do that. But with Omi it was a couple of sentences. A couple of words to make him go and STEAL someone’s belongings to become more powerful just for the sake of it.
#3. His weird relation with Chase Young:
Now, I think that this is a valid and a solid reason on it own to not trust that boy and to not make him a leader. Because how do you imagine a shoku that lies to his friends about what he's doing in the main villain palace and he's there because he wants to SET HIM FREE from the Sphere of Yun that Jack Spicer put him in?! Like what?! He did that ONLY because he likes Chase. And there's no denial he does, because he does, let's be real. We might say “He's just naive and he sees good in everyone”, but that's not what happened there and it had nothing to do with that. He set him free just because. Cuz he likes him, he's for whatever reason almost smitten with Chase. And maybe it's because Chase is like a fallen angel - He was good but then chose to be bad and now Omi wants to make him good again because he was one of the trio that stopped Wuya back in the day and he would like to worship him as he does this with Dashi & Guan? Or maybe because Chase teases him? He's constantly talking to him, Omi knows he wants him by his side and he feels... Special? His ego is most definitely a huge part in this. 100%
#4.He's naive:
Omi is the youngest as some sources claims, but we all can agree on that I think. He might be under the age of 13 or 14 at ABSOLUTE max. I mean they're all pretty young, but there's still a difference between like 18 I would give to Raimundo at the end of the show or 19 I would give Clay and that 13 of Omi. He's young and he does not know anything about the outside world besides the temple. Maybe that's also the reason why he's so naive, but we see that many times in the show that he wants to make bad people into good ones almost in the blink of an eye. He tried that with Jack a couple of times and he almost wanted to be some sort of friends with him??? When Jack decided to join them he absolutely trusted him, which is so weird to me considering how much resentment and grudge he has and holds towards Rai for his past betrayal. Even when he proved his worth their trust, even when there was no doubt he's changed and knows better now - he still had to clap his goddamn mouth about how Rai is worse than him and the rest and he still doesn’t know if he can trust him. Yeah, but at the same time you saw nothing wrong with Jack living with you under the same roof, doing the same with Katnappe and having this weird thing going on with Chase? That makes sense Omi xDD. So yeah, he was not a good choice for a shoku at all, I hope you also see that if u didn’t before 🙂🙃.
#Omi would be horrible shoku#Those are pure facts#The fact I hate Omi doesnt have anything to do with that#jack spicer#kimiko tohomiko#chase young#wuya#xiaolin showdown#xiaolin#raimundo pedrosa#clay bailey#xiaolin meme#narvana27#xiaolin showdown analysis

12. the unpopular character that you actually like and why more people should like them
idk if he's really unpopular but i don't see people talking about Vlad much and honestly? he's great and i'd like to see more of him in fandom, especially since I think he's the closest thing Jack has to an actual friend/partner/equal on the Heylin side. he's like the One person on the heylin side who seems to actually like Jack and hangs out with him just because lmfao
18. it's absolutely criminal that the fandom has been sleeping on…
i mean i feel like i've seen more of him in fics and such over the past few years, but: jermaine. also vlad, as mentioned above. also chuan. also raijack. how does raijack have less than 30 fics on ao3. i'm drowning here.
20. part of canon you found tedious or boring
a lot of the concepts they introduced in the third season tbh. like, i think the third season is fine over all but i don't feel like the elemental shen gong wu or wudai weapons really helped the story much or really added anything of value.

Omi’s Journey
In Season 1, Omi fainted at being told the other Chosen Ones were to teach him, and not the other way around.
In Season 2, he became jealous and resentful at Jermaine reaching Wudai Warrior before him.
But in Season 3, he accepts Raimundo’s promotion to Shoku Warrior and leader with peace and humility.

When Chaofeng shows up in the Void fully ready to die I may have screamed...
Awwww Wudai. I love you, nice himbo that you are.
Oh, Chaofeng!
The way he wants to protect her!
It takes serious balls to come back to death voluntarily...
Dad of the Year!
Chaofeng is twistier than a corkscrew but he really is loyal to those loyal to him.
No, I literally started screaming, you don’t understand!
Awwww, dummy, she is never gonna leave you!
Bwahaha she has biggest balls of anyone in the Void.
Girl, good luck, but I am afraid every dad in this drama is worse than a tiger, indeed.
AAAAAAAAA
Might as well ask for water from a rock.

I really enjoy doing these outfit designs and my ultimate goal with designing them is to have a sequence from Wudai to Post-Dragon for all the Dragons showing their growth over the years.
This middle design the the newest in Omi’s set being his ‘Late Dragon’ or ‘Tashi Dragon’ outfit (aka: the level where he is considered to have mastered being his specific elemental dragon).
Now I just have to do his Shoku and Zhuanjia designs…
[also: I’ll probably add some dragon emblems to Early Dragon Omi’s design because I feel like it needs them given that the Shoku design definitely has them]

one of the funniest things about this drama is wudai getting off-screen character development and being the best himbo, love that for him
