Alternative idea for Cryptid Cal then my usual, this time they’re a silkie. Giant coastline with lots of seals and sea lions. This might go good for most states that are very north, and have a coastline. So places like Maine, Alaska, Oregon, and Washington I guess. Maybe some of the Canadian provinces, but I can think of more cool folklore for them than just that. Might fit like Newfoundland and Labrador maybe, Nova Scotia(I love saying that), and Prince Edward Island as they have a good amount of Irish, Scottish, and Scandinavian influence on the area. You could potentially do this with the great Lake States but there’s not a lot(meaning none, at least that’s from my understanding) of native seals in there so it would be kind of weird or maybe it makes it better I don’t know. Would be a tad jarring for the locals to see, so maybe. Do with this headcanon as you will and I hope you enjoy playing around with this idea.

Are all of the OC states based off animals or have some animalistic features to them?

not really, it just happens to be that the ones I’ve covered so far were animalistic; some are based on trees, flowers and other plants, some aren’t really based on much in general, some are based on minerals; all sorts of things.

And they’re not actually “states” in the wttt sense, they’re not meant to represent a state or province or territory, they’re more like… inspired off of states. Why and how they differ from humans isn’t really decided yet 🤔 they just happen to live long, have non human characteristics, physical or otherwise, and perhaps more. It’s why they don’t really care to hide it yknow, and their names aren’t really state names (except for a few like. Georgia. I’m sure you can figure out why); calling them by their states is moreso so I and y’all can tell who’s who

Wttt/Wttsh weak 1, dogs

States that have some kind of state dog have those dogs. For example Alaska has a Alaskan malamute (not his only dog but😛),Texas has a blue lacy, and Louisiana has a Catahoula Leopard Dog. I think most states have some kind of pet, some are service animals or ESA’s. Maine 100% has a Maine coon, if he doesn’t, I think I’ll cry. Actually, it would be kind of cool if he also owns a Norwegian forest cat or Siberian forest cat too.

Jumping off the states and moving to Canada, I think this also goes with the Canadian provinces. The three provinces in Canada that have a “province dog” would be Nunavut, Nova Scotia, and Newfoundland and Labrador. The first two are in my opinion some of the most fun words to say because they make my little accent come out and play. Nunavut’s province dog would be the Canadian Inuit Dog also called the Qimmiq/ ᕿᒻᒥᖅ(I hope I did that right I’m very sorry if I didn’t). Nova Scotia’s is the Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever, my favourite retriever, because it’s like if a golden retriever and an Australian Shepard had a child who loves to scream. Newfoundland and Labrador, is well the Newfoundland dog and a Labrador retriever. Now I wanna add something. Yukon probably has an Alaskan malamute as on its coat of arms it has one. It wouldn’t shock me if the Northwest Territories has huskies and Alaskan malamutes. Also, Yukon definitely has some huskies too. A small question for my Canadian friends is whether your guys' province Mace's are like our Mace of the Republic. Like if somebody’s bad, do they get beat up with your Ceremonial Mace?

So I don’t know if anybody here knows what the series “Canadian Provinces as roommates” by kpoke613 on TikTok is. But I can’t help but notice the similarities to wtttsh. I mean the series are obviously not the same, what I mean by similarities is the fact of real personifying landmasses(and making them annoy each other). Less politics more just Canadians annoying each other. I haven’t seen anybody talk about this yet but someone might’ve and if they did, please tell me. But it’s just too perfect not to mention. I mean, if you’re having trouble writing or coming up with ideas for the provinces of Canada, this might be a good reference piece for you. 

Also, this guy had an amazing series about just dissing the entire US, which I’m for one am for. Lots of other funny stuff good comedian.

Also, I re-watched one of the skits, and they refer to Alberta as their, sooo I don’t know deal with that too.

wttt and hetalia share a genre which would be inanimate things personified and the subgenre of land masses

other media in this specific genre include but are not limited to: country balls, country humans. kopke613 on tiktok (he does Canadian provinces), UNtimely News by youthpastorryan (also on tiktok tho discontinued) and a bunch of others

tho the overlap of these fandoms is quite big as they mesh together like barely any other fandom does due to the thing it is based on being very easy to bend and shape and play with it is not the same thing at all

its like comparing a romance movie with a dating sim both are romance oriented but ultimately not the same thing, just as hetalia is an anime leaning on historic events and WTTT is an political comedy skit series

I am sorry if I came coming of as harsh its nothing against you (and it is quite funny when thinking of the shippy posts in an actual real life context) this subject just has come up a bunch of times and I had to clear this up for my own sake as I despise hetalia with all my might and hate that this fandom gets compared to it just cause hetalia is the biggest fandom in this genre

but yeah if youre still interested WTTTs creator is benbrainard on both tiktok and youtube and all the skits are there to watch we are a very friendly fandom I promise

for some reason i keep seeing posts about something called welcome to the table/state house which from my current understanding is kind of like hetalia with states but I had never heard of it before so I thought all these posts were about real life state politics

my favorite thing to do rn is imagine the wttt characters reacting to current hockey events i knowwww some of em are just as invested as me like its canon they are i just need to see it fleshed out more. in my heart i believe theyre cracking jokes on twitter about the playoffs and trades and yea some of em r more casual fans usually only tune in the playoffs catch a game when they can and some of em dont know the sport at ALL (cough california texas florida im looking at you cough cough) but its ok i can imagine the diehard fans trying to explain it to them (and failing) or just seemingly randomingly insulting them/their team. and also some of em r multi-team fans bc they literally have multiple teams in their state!!!! sorry im just so hockeybrained rn its crazy

i (plural they/them pronouns) know literally nothing abt any sport at all, and i’ve been wanting to get into hockey, but we don’t actually know how someone becomes a sport fan?? like, how do you pick who to root for? do you just start watching games until you pick a favourite? /genq

the thing abt hockey is that its very interesting and captivating, to me at least, no matter what team u r watching (unless theyre horrifically bad). it’s easier to be invested ofc when its a team you root for, but hockey is such a fast-paced something’s-always-happening sport that if you even look away for a few seconds something big will have happened. as im typing this im watching a game and trying (but failing) to multitask. (SOMEONE JUST SCORED AAAAA) but ANYWAY …

i only started rooting for the new jersey devils because of , well, wttt new jersey!! assuming yall r into wttt, you can always pick the team(s) of ur fav character(s)!

or if ur from the u.s./canada, you can pick the team thats closest to your hometown (or the one in your state/province)!!

you can also just look around for players that seem interesting and start watching their team. for example, there was this one rookie who i found his story/background really interesting, and his style of play as well, so i started watching his team, and i ended up getting attached to a lot of the other players on the team!

if you’re anything like me, and friendships/duos on a team r the quickest way for a team to get to your heart, you could look around for the fun friendships/duos (or ask me) and just start watching! i will warn you though that at the end of the day hockey is a business and those duos could end up being broken up (i was a witness to this happening for another team and it made me so sad and i dont even go there).

i must also warn you that (men’s) hockey (the pro league is National Hockey League, or NHL) is not always as accepting as you would like it to be and there are so many issues within the NHL (and by extension, other men’s leagues and organizations as well), which i will not elaborate too deeply on here, but given the polarized debate over lgbt+ ppl in the united states (i do not know if its the same in canada), i must warn it has bled over into hockey (and sports in general). there are a good bunch of female and lgbt+ fans, though!! especially here on tumblr, but over on twitter as well. we’ve carved out a space for ourselves and we’re here to stay

women’s hockey (the pro league is the Premier Hockey Federation, or PHF) is very fun and much more accepting as well!!! there’s only seven professional teams, and regretfully i havent picked a team yet (but i did watch some of the playoffs), but i think the same suggestions apply to the PHF too (except for the hometeam/location-based if you dont live in eastern canada/the northeastern U.S.) :3

OH one more suggestion: there’s an international tournament going on right now* (IIHF) and some NHL players are playing in it! you can always pick your home country (if theyre playing) there and see what players play on what teams so you can keep up w them outside of the tournament !

*like. right now. at the time of me posting this, there are two games happening at this very moment

and also, hockey is a very contact-heavy sport (less-so in the PHF? im not sure, though, but i think some of the rules are a little different). just mentioning this because i come from a soccer background and for the first month i kept flinching at the big hits. i was def not used to it !

as a last note: wikipedia and youtube are your best friends and will explain rules/gameplay to you if you need it!!!

oh and fuck the chicago blackhawks ^_^
