I really hope that pandora has appointed therapists for the na'vi, todays topic is why kitty needs therapy.

First off, kitty has no idea who her dad is and gets teased about it, which isn't completely terrible. except for the fact that her mom is simultaneously unconscious and dead and the body that gave birth to her is just suspended in the middle of a science lab for anyone to see like its in a museum or smth.

Then when kitty goes to the eywa tree and gets to talk to her mother for the first time. she is robbed of any answers or time to bond (which would cause her questions to run rampant and be like torture for a her) by an underwater seizure. which is a double wammy because not only can seizures cause brain damage, suffocation can to. meaning potential double brain damage.

Of course theres also the whole being hunted down and forced to leave your home and move to a place where you are initially unwelcome and then being bullied for being curious and then tied to a railing and then watching your older brother die and then being tied to a railing AGAIN and then used as a hostage and then having to rescue your adopted mother and younger sister without being sure that your father and brother are even still alive situation but if I went on about that we'd be here for longer than is reasonable.

Kitty is a curious individual who I hope does good in future installments in the series. Someone please get pandora some therapists. Tune in next time for why tuk needs therapy

It’s not uncommon for you to get into a fight, as you don’t look nor act the type. You don’t ask to get into a fight nor provoke, you simply attract trouble, (Oh, a problem child,,) But if this person (or people) are talking smack about you, you bet your bum that you’re gonna sit down and let them. Nah, you put’em up. Warning? You ARE the WARNING. 

Sugawara Koushi x Reader

He hears it from Yachi. More like, the team does and Nishinoya and Tanaka are ready to throw some hands.

During practice, Yachi, the sweet girl, poor her; she sees you having an intense argument with two other third years when she comes to refill on water bottles. 

She knows you, talking to you a couple of times. You were always a sweet upperclassman, kind and soft to her and the team, even Kageyama and Tsukishima showed you respect in your presence. 

But when one of them swung the first punch to your face, you bet she dropped everything and hauled ass to the gym to call over your boyfriend. 

Sugawara. Ah, yes, the duality of this man. I would say unpredictable, cause some say he’s the responsible type to stop the fight by finding a teacher and others say he’ll unleash Tanaka and Nishinoya. 

I say, he’s the type to KNOW who you are and WHAT you are capable of. Yes, he can join in the fight, but last time he saw you fight someone he was unaware and baffled that you are able to land solid one punch (( WANNA BE SAIKYU HEROOO)) and knock’em out. Nah, he’s the type to collect the aftermath and try to bury the evidence ((What a sweet boyfie <3 )) 

“Suga-san! (Y/N)-san i-is in a fight a-and I think they need help!” She screeches, catching the attention of the team members. 

“Ah, I’ll be back. Gotta collect the corpses.” 

Asahi, Hinata, and Yachi nearly pass out when he says that. “Corpses? (Y/N)-san killed them that quick? And Sugawara is the accessory???” 

When he finally reaches you, though he knows you’re capable of standing your ground, he can’t help but worry the bruises and cuts on you. You may be able to keep standing, but that doesn’t mean you can avoid ALL their hits. 

When he sees your figure, his fingers dig deep into his palms. “(Y/N)?” He calls out to you. You’re huffing and you straighten your back, turning to face him you smile lovingly to him. “Yes, Darling?” 

He may simp for you but that doesn’t mean he can’t lecture you. 

Sighing, he crouches to the two fools who decided to provoke you and talks to them in that tone where you can’t speak because you’re scared of what they’re capable of. He says that he’ll be watching them closely and that if they mention their S/O beating them up, not only will they all get suspended but Sugawara will make sure they’ll never face pride or regain their HONOR back. (ayye zuko wassup ?) 

Standing up, he looks to you and holds your hands as gingerly as possibly, observing the irritated redness on your knuckles and the splotches of small red bloody dots. His nose scrunches cutely as one hand lets go of yours to cup your face carefully because of the now forming bruise on your pretty face. 

Sighing, he smiles, brows furrowed, “Sugar, next time, go easy on them. I don’t want your pretty hands to be so messed up. I love you and I don’t mind bandaging them up and kissing them to make you feel better, but I feel the more you punch the more your hands’ll fall off. Then who am I supposed to hold hands with?”

You can’t help but crack a joke, “Ah yes, losing Daichi and me in the same year, my poor Darling~!” You coo to him. 

“You’re lucky you’re cute.”

How I take testosterone shots.

...with shots... of whiskey. I  kid, I kid...  >->

Hello!  I’m here to share all of my combined knowledge and experience about taking testosterone shots.  There’s a lot of information online, and it can be quite overwhelming.  I hope this helps!

Some quick things to note.

The more relaxed a muscle, the less it will hurt, if at all.  BREATHE.

Try experimenting with heat and cold.  I used to take my shots after a shower, but my doctors recommended using an ice pack instead.  I find cold actually works better, so you can use that ice pack (not directly on your skin of course) to reduce swelling and pain.

When sterilizing, give your alcohol a few seconds to dry, that way it’ll sting less or not at all.

Note I will be using the words syringe and needle a lot.  Syringe is the tube-part that holds your liquid.  The needle is the pointy metal part.  This is important to distinguish when it comes to measurements and what I’m trying to communicate.

Skin is made up of layers.  There’s a thin soft part on top and then a really dense layer of subcutaneous tissue.  This is a little tough to get through.  Once you start injecting, you may feel your needle hesitantly stop at this point.  Once you break through, it’ll seem your needle will just RUSH downwards.  The tissues below are much less dense.  Think trying to inject into a balloon filled with gel (without it popping).  Don’t let it startle you too much when it starts going in faster after that layer.  (See image below)

Store your testosterone bottle in a prescription bottle.  It’ll help keep it sterile, upright, and keep it from leaking in case that self-heal rubber seal thing doesn’t quite heal.  It’ll also be harder to lose since the testosterone bottles can be quite small sometimes.

Designate a sharps disposal receptacle.  Sharps disposal bins are just too damn expensive and don’t fit a whole lot.  Sure it’s safer for the environment and for those handling your trash, but you can also safely re-cap your needles and put them in a thick plastic bottle.  In design school, we disposed of our xacto blades this way to keep our housekeepers safe.  We don’t live in a perfect world, save your money, use a thick water bottle, fill that bottle up, recap your needles, etc.  I’m not sure if hazardous waste accepts water bottles full of needles or not, who knows.  If you’re afraid of your receptacle ending up in an ocean, I’d maybe try talking to your hazardous waste people (for the hormones as well as the needles).  Otherwise...  *shrug*  --AMENDMENT--  I recently found out that some cities like LA search your garbage for more recycling which can make this method dangerous for people searching through your garbage.  Take precaution, and unfortunately, you may have to buy a sharps disposal.  Sorry.  :/

Make sure you’re in a safe, quiet space away from pets, kids, annoying siblings, etc., anyone who can bother you or startle you or mess up your sterile space.

If you see any blueish veins on your skin, obviously don’t inject into those.  You will have pain and a bloody mess.  Ouch.

Speaking of, have your band-aid handy.

Don’t worry if some leaks out.  Testosterone can be absorbed through the skin, plus it’s such a little amount.

Learn your favorite needle gauge.  Inject-able testsosterone is a thick substance because it’s suspended in oil.  Therefore, you need larger gauge needles than for something like insulin (I swear insulin is like thinner than water and those needles are teeeeeny)(we have a diabetic cat).  Anywho, as with needles or tubes or piercings, the LOWER the number, the BIGGER/THICKER the size.

LOWER NUMBER = BIGGER SIZE

EXAMPLE: 16 gauge = OW TOO BIG DON’T USE THIS SIZE

EXAMPLE: 25 gauge = holy shit this is too thin, injecting will take hourssss is it even going in WTH.

I use 18g needles to draw my testosterone, 22/23g to inject.  Therefore, I buy 3mL syringes with 18g needles (any length) PLUS 23g 1 inch needles.  1.5″ is also available but unnecessary.  So if you want to go to the pharmacy and use what I use, ask for... (however many) 18g 3mL syringes with 23g 1″ needles.  Make sure they MATCH.  Some will say something like “Laura-Lok” or something like that, others won’t.  They either both have to say this or not say this- it’s the kind of twisting mechanism at the base of the needle.  Otherwise, you’re stuck with the same needle you use to draw and inject for the week.

You -can- use the same needles to draw your testosterone and to inject it, but each time you puncture something with a needle, it becomes damaged and more coarse.  This may make injecting harder or more painful.  I have a friend who prefers doing this with his size gauge because he feels the sharpness hurts him too much.  It’s all up to you.

USE NEW NEEDLES/SYRINGES EVERY TIME.  DO NOT RE-USE NEEDLES OR SYRINGES.  SOME PEOPLE DO IT.  DON’T DO IT.  NEEDLES AND SYRINGES ARE CHEAP.  IT’S NOT WORTH IT.

How to prep your shot.

1- Sterilize the top of your testosterone bottle/vial.  If it’s new/capped, it doesn’t matter too much.  It’s a good habit to have though, especially if you’re uncapping it with dirty fingers.

2- Draw air into your syringe equal to your dosage.  This will help displace the liquid in your vial to make drawing it up easier.

3- With the vial down and your needle pointing down, insert the needle and inject the air into the vial.  Flip your syringe and vial upside-down so the vial is on top with your needle inside.  Draw up your dosage without bubbles.  **If you are swapping out needles, draw up an extra teeny bit as needles will retain some of the liquid.  So if you’re drawing to a line like .4mL, maybe hit juuust over that line.

4- Turn your bottle back down and withdraw your syringe/needle.

5- If you are swapping needles, turn your syringe up with the needle in the air.  Recap your needle, twist off, and twist on your new needle.  INJECT THE AIR OUT OF YOUR NEEDLE HEAD.  Do this by pressing gently on the plunger until you see no air bubbles in the needle’s base and you see a drop or two of fluid come out.  This is why you drew a slight bit extra fluid in step 3.  Getting the air out of the base can be hard, don’t worry.  This is because they’re built to trap the air from coming through for safety, but we don’t want to risk even that.

6- Your shot is ready!  Woo!  If you need to, you can gently recap your needle.  Try not to hit the tip of it.  If you do, it’s not the end of the world.

How to do your shot yourself.

The “proper” location in which to give yourself your testosterone shot, according to my endocrinologists’s nurse, is in your rectus femoris.

So sit down, relax, and measure about 1/2 of a hand away from your knee and a hand from your hip.  Stick towards the chunk of muscle that lays on the top outer side of your leg.  That’s your safest zone for painless injection.

After you’ve chosen a spot, sterilize it, and sterilize your fingers (a personal precaution I take).  Take your not-dominant fingers and gently press down and pull apart the skin near the injection site.  This helps reduce distance and toughness of injection.

Take a deep breath, keep breathing (lest your muscles tense up).  Insert your needle with your dominant hand.  Although it is advised to press the plunger with your non-dominant fingers, I prefer to do it with the same hand I’m injecting with.  (***This is where you aspirate.)  And inject.

You don’t have to have your needle in ALL the way, although it is recommended, especially if you’re a little chunkier than most.  If you inject in fat, that’s okay, it just may take longer for testosterone to hit your system.  Just make sure at least half an inch is in or more, k?  Try going in all the way if you can (if you have a 1″ needle).

After all of the testosterone is in, gently pull out the needle and you’re done!

If you’re shaking, that’s okay too.  My nurse laughed because as she was teaching me, it looked like I was giving myself a tattoo.  It was awful.  Awfully funny.

How to have someone give you your shot.

Prep your shot.

You’ll have to take off your underwear, or at least one buttcheek’s worth of cloth there if you can manage.  Chose your side.

Now, a lot of people, especially on TV, will inject into their own (or each others’) gluteus medius, which is like the side of your backside.  My nurse, however, told me this method which is in the gluteus maximus, the butt of your... butt.

From Rick and Morty, “Something Ricked this way Comes” No, testosterone is not pink.  Yes, I wish it was.

Lean over a counter or table, probably about as high as your waist maybe.  Whatever is comfortable and stable.

On the side you chose to take your shot on, take that foot and turn your toes inwards towards your other foot, probably at about 30-45 degrees.  This moves your leg in a way that forces that injection muscle to relax.  

Your injection site will be between the tail of your spine and the lower outer corner of your buttocks if you draw a line.  (I should really have drawn a picture for this one.)

Sterilize injection site and fingers (***and aspirate if desired) and inject.

(I’ve never had this particular injection done, but this is how my nurse taught me.)

***What is aspiration?  Do I have to aspirate before injecting? Aspiration is when you insert your needle and draw up (before injecting your testosterone).  This method is used to see whether or not you’re drawing up blood; if so, you would be injecting into a vein or artery.  This is a controversial topic as injecting testosterone into a vein can be very dangerous, but all of the nurses I’ve seen have expressed that this is not an issue with testosterone injections at my injection site.  Many people agree and disagree.  Still, if you’re concerned, attempt to draw fluid up before injecting your testosterone just to be sure.  I don’t aspirate now.  I may or may not aspirate in the future, who knows.  

Other injection locations...

There’s a lot of different opinions out there and methods as to where to inject.  I’ve done it a few different places myself.  I’m just going with what nurses have told me and what’s been best for me.  You do you.  (But please for the love of God I implore you do not inject in your inner thigh it is soft tissue all of your nerves and veins are there it hurts I hit a lymphatic vein once and that pain does not go away for like a week solid omg doooooooooon’t.)

v2 has more settings, both on the individual and ‘hood level. So, you can customize things better, down to the individual-sim level. My fave setting is “ideal family size” which influences whether or not a couple will try for a baby by taking into account how many kids each already has.

Ok I’m still confused by the number of kids. So if I set it to 3 (for both), and the couple has 2, does that mean they’ll likely attempt another, or is there a possibility they’ll just stop? maybe just for a while? the thing that kinda bothered me about ACR autonomous Try for baby is that a woman will give birth, and within moments sometimes the couple goes to try for another baby. Within hours at best. It seems ridiculous. Why would they prioritise Try for baby over normal woohoo? also she always gets pregnant.

So in a way, if I say I want my sims to decide how many kids they want-- they’ll always have as many as they can, as fast as possible, so long as Try for baby is allowed. I wish it could be more like real life... (in most cases) if a baby was just born, maybe give it a break for a little while? oh well. I usually just suspend pregnancies the moment they begin, cause I don’t have the heart to terminate.

Also sims chemistry just became 10 times worse now that I know how it works. So basically, it’s ridiculously stupid and I should just decide stuff for my sims instead of letting them roam free. XD

That said, there was this ONE TIME two of my sims flirted with each other (through ACR) and that caught me totally off guard but I ended up letting it be, and turns out I love those two together. 

The other time one of my sims was in a relationship (GOING STEADY), but another sim (with admittedly higher chemistry) flirted with him and suddenly they were IN LOVE! wth! he had this memory of having 2 lovers and I ended up saving it, but I removed the memory in Simpe. The funny thing is that I kept the new relationship cause of higher chemistry and the turn the story took (especially since this specific sim was his sister’s bestfriend and daughter of a close friend of his father), and broke up with his first girlfriend via memory and erasing their relationship with Sim blender. Cheaty, I know, but considering the game basically made my poor sim a cheater when he’s nothing like that personality-wise, I figure cheating the game is fair game. :D that sounds ridiculous

If I could split the midcentury modern movement into two it would be directly along lines of practicality.

You have art midcentury which is more like a futuristic, World’s Fair-style showroom for the style, and livable midcentury which incorporates a list of functional items into the design.

A good architect does the first. A great architect does the second.

And that’s why Pierre Koenig is a great architect.

From the street it’s simple, clean, and fresh.

No frills here, no fuss, but it also doesn’t look sparse or cold.  It’s inviting, in harmony with its landscape.

Midcentury often incorporates a visual separation from the street.  The midcentury movement came along in a postwar era where more Americans needed homes and lot sizes were smaller.  The great estates with long, winding driveways separating the home from the street were a distant memory.  And usually you see elaborate front gates with courtyards, breeze blocks, the like

Here you see frosted glass panels suspended along a roof brace, which elevates the space and adds light to come in, much like a Japanese paper screen.

The entrance continues that Japanese by way of midcentury theme.

Simple wood beams, paper screens, and an unobtrusive tile floor focus your eyes toward the distance instead of the immediate.

Horizontal lines everywhere you look, from the beams to the fireplace mantle to the shape of the tile.

All add space.

All are good.

Another look back towards the entrance door to show you how much effort is taken to visually separate and distance the spaces.

This is where “open concept” misses its mark.

A more intimate seating area on the other side of the wraparound fireplace.

In a crusade to make everything “child-friendly” i the 90s many were demolished, so it’s special to see one that still exists.

View back towards the kitchen - which is technically still part of the same room but again - visual separation.

Tulip chairs but no tulip table?

Floor to ceiling glass, sponsored by Windex.

At a time this was the kitchen of the future - vast countertop space, and all the efficiencies of modern life stored away in sleek sliding cupboards.

Wonder what the midcentury designers would’ve thought of the 90s-00s obsession with pot racks and other decorative kitchen clutter.

Master bedroom gets its own patio, which turns out to be the area behind the frosted glass entrance.

A neat use of space, and doesn’t make you feel like you’re sleeping next to the front door.

Floor to ceiling mirrors (which nowadays you’ll usually only find in gyms) add that space-enlargening trick.

And there is that courtyard patio, wth beautiful flagstone and cool matrix chairs.

Quite peaceful.

Indoor-outdoor seamlessness.

No dual vanity here.

It’s kitschy, and worth keeping.

Would be neat to extend the mosaics down to the floor tile.

Second bedroom (usually for children) gets its own floor to ceiling view of the outdoors.

Tidy. Compact. Cozy.

Better pull those blinds. 

Brutal concrete contrasts with the smooth sleekness oft the indoors.

Good place for a fountain and small garden.

Outdoor space is enormous, making use of the whole rear of the home.

Perhaps the original plans had a pool.

Gorgeous view of the canyon

Designed with integration into nature in mind.

You can see where Koenig designed with a right angle, yet managed to create a sensual, livable space.

Zuko came out onto the small balcony for some fresh air when he saw Katara standing at the railing. The new moon hung low in the sky still and the stars were just peaking through the blackness. The warm glow of fire lit skimmed across her hair from the open door, but as he approached, her face was bathed in starlight. He went over to her, gripping onto the barrier.

“Quite a play, huh,” she said into the night.

“Yeah. I love having all my mistakes shoved in my face,” he growled, gripping the railing tighter. Count the stars Zuko, came his Uncle’s voice. It was always something his Uncle would tell him to calm down. Count the stars and let go of your anger for it is smaller than any of them.

Unknown to both of them, Aang was at the door to the balcony, cursing that he hadn’t found Katara alone. He stole himself and continued watching his two friends.

Katara placed a hand gently on top of one of Zuko’s.

“It’s alright Zuko, its all in the past. You’re with us now,” she said kindly, bumping her shoulder playfully against his. The movement sent a small shock through his body. He wasn’t used to physical contact with anybody outside of fighting, but it was more than that. It was Katara who was voluntarily close to him, making contact with him.

He looked down at her hand on top of his and quickly flipped his own around so that their palms were touching. Gently, he curled his fingers around hers, holding her hand properly. He held his breath for her reaction. She watched but didn’t pull away.

“What did you think about my actress? Pfft, tear bending!”

Zuko chuckled.

“Best part so far!” he said, not breaking eye contact wth the water bender, admiring how the pinpricks of the stars reflected in her eyes.

Aang’s breath hitched in his throat. No! This couldn’t be happening! Katara was supposed to be his! But she had said in the play that he was like a little brother to her… did that mean… that Zuko…

The two teenagers were staring at one another, close on the balcony. Their clasped hands had fallen from the railing but they weren’t letting go. In the distance they registered the bell calling them back in at the end of the intermission but didn’t let it interfere with the moment. Zuko’s other hand cupped Katara’s face and they both leaned in slightly —

“Hey guys! There you are! They play’s about to start!” called Aang from the doorway. He couldn’t let it happen! He just couldn’t!

The two jumped away from one another all of a sudden, dropping one another and looking around nervously. The spell they were under shattered into a million pieces.

“Of course Aang, lets go,” said Katara sweetly, bouncing towards the Avatar. Aang smiled at her brilliantly.

Zuko stood stock still, trying to process what had almost happened as well as the fact that it hadn’t. He was looking at the hand that was just holding Katara’s, missing her skin upon his, still tingling from her touch. He swallowed thickly.

At the door Katara turned back, and seeing Zuko not moving took a few steps towards him and grabbed his hand again.

“Come on Zuko,” she said softly, giving his hand a squeeze. He tried not to smile too widely.

The scene under Ba Sing Se came on during the play. Both Katara and Zuko felt their cheeks redden in embarrassment. And as if that wasn’t enough, Aang shot them accusatory, hurt looks. Sokka leant down between them.

“Tell me that didn’t happen,” he said grumpily.

Katara gave her best indignant huff.

“Obviously not Sokka!” she hissed. Aang also looked a bit placated.

Katara and Zuko’s eyes met for a second before looking away again. They were suddenly very aware of how close they were sitting.

The final battle scenes were disheartening. They watched themselves die brutal deaths on stage, and even though they were anything but realistic, they were playing them all too realistically in their mind’s eye.

Katara found Zuko’s hand and held it tightly between the two of them, hidden from her friends. When the crowd cheered at his death she squeezed tightly to let him know she was still there - they all were.

That night Katara couldn’t sleep. She hadn’t had any moment to catch Zuko alone, to sort through her feelings, to question what it was that almost happened on the balcony. She snuck out of bed and out of the house, making her way down to the sea. There, she stripped into her wrappings and waded in to her waist, bathing in the warm water, the light from above. The new moon was rising, casting its dim glow over the ocean with the promise of things to come. Even in this weakened state it called to her, crowned in stars. Katara often felt the new moon was the most beautiful. The stars closest to it could still shine brightly and the two lights played beautifully in unison. When the moon became brighter, the stars around it would be difficult to see.

Katara stayed suspended in that state for a long time - feeling her element all around her and the power of the moon, just letting it course through her without using it. It was arousing, that much power, at her fingertips. She knew she was stronger than other benders like Hama - she could do on a new moon what the old woman could only achieve on a full moon.

She heard a sound behind her. Turning slightly, she saw Zuko, pale face reflecting the starlight, walking cautiously towards her.

Zuko also couldn’t sleep. He had decided to go for a walk, try to count the stars as Uncle had taught him. He needed to get the turmoil from his thoughts. Even though his death on stage - and everybody else’s for that matter - was very disturbing, he couldn’t help but focus on Katara and their small touches, what could have happened if Aang hadn’t intervened. Perhaps it was the thought of her that drew him to the ocean, or perhaps it was the longing for something familiar to calm his thoughts. While he was on the ship he had taken solace on the reflections of the stars and the moon in the water. It felt like… like coming home.

There she stood in her wrappings, waist deep in the ocean, illuminated by the light of the stars. It gave her an ethereal presence. She turned to look at him and he saw the moon shining in her eyes. She seemed almost drunk on it.

Her arms from her elbow were resting on the water’s surface, bobbing up and down with the small waves.

She nodded to the space next to her and raised her eyebrows, inviting him to join her.

Zuko felt a thrill go up his body and shed his outer robe quickly, wading in, wearing only his loose trousers - which he realised became very attached to him and very much not loose when they were wet. He didn’t really care. He was being drawn to her and he had no time to think about such things.

Reaching Katara, he let his arms copy hers, feeling the push and pull of the waves below his fingers.

“She was very beautiful, Yue,” said Katara quietly, looking back up at the moon. “She was kind and forgiving and knew which battles were hers to fight. She knew when the time was right to give herself up.”

“She must have been a very special person,” Zuko replied, also looking up at the moon.

“I’ve decided to do the same,” said Katara after a pause, turning to look at Zuko. She moved closer to him and brushed her arms against his. “I’ve decided to pick my battles and the right time to give up. I’ve stopped fighting this one. I surrender.” She was staring at him, wide eyes sincere, voice light, fingers tracing patterns on his forearms.

Zuko found himself stepping closer to her.

“Why were you fighting?” he murmured. She closed the distance and placed her forehead onto his.

“Pride,” she replied, voice equally low.

“Pride is poisonous, I should know,” he said, raising one hand to cup the back of her head.

Finally she closed the distance between their lips.

They kissed softly, a whisper afraid to disturb the surreal calm of the night. A surrender to the fight they had been suffering through, an acceptance of what their heart was telling them, two white flags fluttering in the sea breeze.

Zuko wound one arm around her waist while both of Katara’s found purchase around his neck and they pressed together, unmoving, sighing into one another’s mouths.

Katara pulled away first, but nuzzled his neck instead, holding him close. Zuko breathed in the scent of her hair, realising how it mingled naturally with the sea salt.

Still in his embrace, Katara looked out to the vast expanse of sea.

“We have a legend in our tribe,” she said quietly, her voice somehow moulding with the gentle crash of the waves. “There were once two moons, two lovers who could not bare to be without one another. But they were forced apart by an evil spirit; one became stuck in the same place in the sky while the other moved across it. They could only meet when her path happened to cross his position, and sometimes they would not meet at all, since she changed position with the seasons and the years. ‘How can I be with you?’ asked the second moon, ‘I cannot move’. ‘I am everywhere,’ she replied on her journey past him ‘you must also be everywhere with me’. So the second moon split himself into a million pieces and scattered himself all over the sky. That way, wherever his lover travelled, part of him was always there to keep her company, and when she disappeared she knew where to come back to. In return she waxed and waned to allow him to shine as brightly as he did as a moon, so he wouldn’t miss being one. That is why we have the stars today, and why we can still bend on a dark moon.” She finished, sweeping a hand across the sky to show him all the parts of the second moon.

“They changed themselves to fit one another,” Zuko said quietly, gazing up.

“But they also stayed true to themselves, for they could not change their nature. They needed to shine and they helped each other do so,” she replied.

“We should get some sleep,” he whispered after a while. The moon was falling in the sky, the stars dimming and giving way to a deep blue on the horizon. He could have stayed there for eternity, holding her in the waves.

Katara nodded and kissed him again. She wound her fingers around his and lead him back to the shore, flicking the sea water off of both of them. In the corridor outside their rooms they paused.

“Good night Zuko.”

“Good night Katara. The moon was beautiful tonight.”

“So were the stars.”

The next few moments where a blur, because just as the cop was lecturing me about citizen responsibility and something about village children a stunning blond walked by, long neck, muscular arms like a farm girl, about my height, which is really tall for a woman, she must be swedish, her high gloss fingernails almost glow in the dark, and match all four of her crimson painted hooves.

Jerry looks up and says "It is time to see doctor" 

In a voice that sounded like 6 andrew sisters in perfect harmony, “sure, hop on sweetie, but i am not molly, i am mary.

Hi Mary, that judge would not take me,

Then the horse woman turned her head toward me, and I saw her face for the first time, I had noticed her face before because I was distracted by her chest, and other things. I am, usually distracted by a good chest, but this was especially distracting because this chest was smallish, and I like most of my buddies, like a  full figured girl, but bare as the day she was born. 

I looked up into those eyes that where the brown of fine Hershey chocolate, o ly those eyes where 4 sizes to big and set so far apart.I could not look away, the world started to spin those lovely watery huge horse sized, oh i had ridden my aunt pearlies mare once when we visited for easter. I was scared half to death pf the huge animal until it set its huge compassionate and amazingly intellegent eyes on me. And now those eyes where starig at me, those same deeply intelligent eyes, only they where set in jane mansfields face, 

 where I had seen compassion as a child now all I see was disgust and contempt.I started to feel dizzy, the world started to spin, I must have been really drunk. In my army days, I’d get so drunk Id passed out, I knew I could shake this, it must have been a side effect of hitting my head, 

I shook my head squeezed my eyes, and started to say "Miss, let me explain"

I think all I got out was before that beautifully twisted face came within an inch of mine and with all the indignant righteousness of reformed preacher she uttered one word, 

one accusation, and the voice of a heavenly being quite struck me dumb

 I turn but there is nobody there “Doc?”

“You will visit the judiciary now.” Is the only response I get, and it must be coming from some overhead loudspeaker only I can't make out where the grill is

a door opens and the lights in The room start to dim. Dimming lights in a hospital? fancy. 

It has the desired effect I get up to leave.

”Thanks for fixing my headache doc”, I say to no one I particular, could you fix the buzzing in My ear?

Judge 

you, a member of the judiciary are hereby sentenced for the crime of irresponsible, and attempted displacement of communal parenting  responsibility. As you well know the punishment for this crime is the harsest we can administer: banishment.

I am about dumbstruck as the best 3d cinema I have ever seen popps to life, but I’m not wearing the red and blues. it replays the conversation exactly, my shock at this wonder goes completely un noticed by the judge

“What possessed you to ask a CHILD such a question?”

“You mean ask who the child's parents where?” 

“Are you now claiming insanity? Are you claiming to not know the distributed responsibility matrix of child rearing? The way you, and every other human around has been raised for 3 generations?” 

This time my dumbstruck confusion was not lost on the court, and for the third time I felt the world Round me start to spin.

“Sir, Your honor, you keep referring g to me as a member of the judiciary, but I am just a regular joe, and unless I got elected by special vote of the people last night I am still just a joe. And....: as I began a tieraid about  kids having a proper mom to cook clean feed, and a dad to lay down the law and bring out the belt.. It was looking like into a mirror. 

The judge looked as dumbstruck as I did 

Judge said ,  to no one in particular, “why did no one check this guys history prior to the event?”

“Did anyone notice that judge mike here did not EXIST an hour before the incident?” “I thought not.”

“Well, mike, if that is your tpreal name, I'll start with the easy part. Ill explain everything because obviously you have been the victim of some kind of prank. And it is not like your the first meme seaplane joke gone awry.”

“You have been referred to as judge because of what you look like, members of the judiciary take the classical ancestral form as an honorarium for all those who have gone before, that have stood, and caught with the might of will for an ever better place.”

“The offense, we dispensed of individual parentage over 3 generations ago. You see, about the same time as human economies where coming to and end wit the first high volume quantum coherent state sintering printers we got to the point where need of material goods beyond critical infrastructure was dramatically reduced. So about 20 minutes ago I was driving home with my sister and I hit a car in front of me at a red light. It's a rainy night and the roads are slippery so my tires couldn't get a good grip and I slid right into the back of this guy's car. It's totally my fault, I shouldn't have been driving as fast as I was in such weather and I definitely should have been keeping more space between our two cars.   The driver in the other car, my sister, and myself all inspected both cars and couldn't find any damage. I got the guy's number and he got mine as well as took a picture of my drivers license and both cars. I however, being completely shaken up and not in the right frame of mind, as well as never having been in such a situation before, didn't think to take any pictures. I was embarrassed and horrified and wanted to get home. I'm now realizing how stupid this was after talking to my parents and I'm freaking out thinking about how this guy could go bash his car somewhere and say that I did it and I won't have any proof to show that I didn't do it!!!! I'm 21 years old so my insurance is high enough as it is and I can't afford to pay even a dollar more.    I've texted him asking him for the pictures he took (lol..) so hopefully that works out but if it doesn't what the hell do I do if he comes after me? 4/5 Stars Recommendation: Worth every single page from the first sentence to ends. Prophecies will be will be unmasked, curses will be unleashed, relationships will set sail and terrifying fears will come to life. All wrapped in a poetical ending to satisfy all fans. Flawed for a series ending however, and thus I can’t get myself to give it 5 stars.

Because holy shit where do I start.

The story is set one week after the events of Blue Lily Lily Blue, with Maura and Artemus back in Fox Way along with the cryptical Gwenllian —the later two who are not exactly getting along well— while the Gangsey & Co are still in the search for their Welsh King of Myth. A new addition to their group is made in the form of charismatic and brave Henry Cheng, who will reach and touch Gansey in more ways than one.

One final kiss will be shared. Two last glimpses of special someones will be given, and without a goodbye they part. Three relationships that will at last set sail.  And one final door will at last close but it will leave so many more open, so many many more.

The Raven King is what the Raven boys’ friendship is for Blue: Breath taking, all powerful, all consuming and engrossing. Maggie’s ever praised prose is better than ever, it makes you feel everything you have never been able to put into words between all of the character’s arc climax, the creepier and scarier atmosphere throughout the entire book, her ever present quirky humor, and the larger than life vibe this book is. Its entire more-ness, because that is what it is. More. The Raven King is more than YA itself, its more than fantasy and its more than The Raven Boys, The Dream Thieves and Blue Lily Lily Blue ever was. It is the ever so deserved end, carefully wrapped up in a satisfying end that leaves open the possibility of so much more.

I had a couple of problems with characters who almost seemed irrelevant with how little participation they had in the final plot, however, I will give my kudos to Stiefvater for making each one of them original and interesting nonetheless.

  Now here’s the thing, I’ve read a fuck ton of other reviews who talk about how they loved the foreshadowing on Adam & Ronan. From the Dream Thieves and Adam being Ronan’s second secret, to all the mentions of homosexuality by Kavinsky, when I thought it was pure teenage dickery and not a direct criticism on Ronan’s sexual orientation— Except no I, I didn’t pick up on it. Shame on me, I know.

But in my opinion, perhaps that made it all the better and this is why:

“Adam smiled cheerily. Ronan would start wars and burn cities for that true smile, elastic and amiable.”

Ronan is a sensible, sensible thing. If anything the entire opposite of Blue’s sensible, prudent. No, Ronan feels too much, too hard and too deep. He wasn’t your YA charismatic bad boy, Ronan was broken and angry, but Ronan craved for love and affection and most specially handing it to others. It had all been so subtle up until that quote, where I put my book down and had to smile to myself for a good ten minutes before I could pick it back up.

Ronan would start wars and burn cities for Adam Parish’s smile. The power of those words hit me like a rock, and no, I didn’t suddenly suspect they would get involved romantically even then.

Ronan let out a breath, put the model down on the bed beside him, and kissed Adam.

Once, when Adam had still lived in the trailer park, he had been pushing the lawn mower around the scraggly side yard when he realized that it was raining a mile away. He could smell it, the earthy scent of rain on dirt, but also the electric, restless smell of ozone. And he could see it: a hazy gray sheet of water blocking his view of the mountains. He could track the line of rain travelling across the vast dry field towards him. It was heavy and dark, and he knew he would get drenched if he stayed outside. It was coming from so far away that he had plenty of time to put the mower away and get under cover. Instead, though, he just stood there and watched it approach. Even at the last minute, as he heard the rain pounding the grass flat, he just stood there. He closed his eyes and let the storm soak him.

That was this kiss.

IT WAS AMAZING. I will be honest when I say I was half bored and half doing something else when I read this chapter and I missed Ronan leaning in to kiss Adam. Instead, I sat through Adam’s description of a kiss before going back and realizing it was Ronan who had just kissed hi,

I felt my heart stop in joy. Then tears in my eyes.

THESE BOYS ARE JUST SO BLESSED? I’M NOT OKAY HOLY CHRIST. Like, lets just sit back and take a moment to appreciate Maggie didn’t just do this to please all of her LGBT+ readers once and move on? We had three heartfelt kisses between these boys that moved me three times as any interaction between Blue and Gansey could’ve ever. We had several descriptions and accounts for how much they had kissed, and how it felt and the intensity of of their feelings.

My feelings are an oil spill. I am so pleased Maggie reached this concussion between her characters, Adam and Ronan did deserve the best. They grew and changed together, this relationship is the one that could feel the most deserved in the entirety of YA.

Shoutout to Blue and Ronan’s friendship.  This and Ronan trying to dream Blue eye cream in the middle of his life going to shit. I’m so happy to see how their friendship has evolved.

“Gansey asked, “Do you have time to run an errand with us? Do you have work? Homework?” “No homework. I got suspended,” Blue replied. “Get the fuck out,” Ronan said, but with admiration. “Sargent, you asshole.” Blue reluctantly allowed him to bump fists with her as Gansey eyed her meaningfully in the rearview mirror.”

And one last shoutout all the way back to The Raven Boys.

“Ronan said, “I’m always straight.” Adam replied “Oh, man, that’s the biggest lie you’ve ever told.”

We now know you know, Adam. These little details made my day while reading the series.

Thoughts on Henry Cheng:

He…. Happens. And it’s weird. People love him and I don’t…. Get it.

Henry Cheng is an absolutely useless, diversity pick character who Stiefvater decided to throw in at the end of the series. Oh forgive me, he did give Gansey some life changing thoughts on beating your fears and like that’s chill; but it feels like something any other character could’ve done if they would’ve been given the right exposition or backstory. Like Ronan or Adam, who are both characters who have been through some shit and could believably have more to their backstory than what we already know.

To me a golden rule of writting should be to never introduce new, major character on the last book of a long series because everything should’ve been established in your previous books. The Raven Cycle was very guilty about introducing a new villain in every book [Except for arguably Blue Lily Lily Blue] and then have him fade into the oblivion of not being relevant to the series again. This is mildly forgivable in the previous books since its A) Not the final book and B) You’re trying to throw obstacles into your character’s paths so they can continue on with their adventure.

But why would you add a main character who adds nothing to the story and add around 200 pages of filler about him? Not to mention Gansy and Henry became instant best friends The Toga party was by far one of my favorite scenes simply because of the simplicity of it. It was a break from the creepy and omnious tone to remind us: Yo, they’re still kids js and it was a nice andd very welcome addition. The scene that actually made me appreciate Blue and Gansey as a couple too and I had Cheng to thank for that… Now why couldn’t we leave it at that? Robobee and the dream black market arc was just… Odd. And the way he came in, helped Gansey fight his fear, the robobee acted as a glorified GPS was way too convenient in my opinion. The book could’ve done perfectly without and it was absolutely irrelevant and specially distracting. Specially through the end scenes where he just seemed to be mindlessly following and strutting along while getting… Absolutely nothing.

The worst of it is the fact that Cheng got more spotlight than Noah. A character that was long established in the previous books and that fans were actually curious about his development and what was going on with him. We had a Cheng word vomit in exchange for Noah’s ever continuing loose ambiguity.

Thoughts on assorted secondary characters:

Another one of the problems I had with this book that minorly disappointed me. It  doesn’t entire bug me per se, but bothered me enough I’d like to put down my thoughts on it on the review.

There were a buttload of character introduced that honestly lead nowhere. I’m talking about the Dream black market net of collectors, curators and sellers. Seondeok, Piper, Laumonier? (wth— was his name again) and Lumonier x3 and probably a few more. These had a very minor purpose in the story and disappeared in the end as soon as they came. Piper was a bitch for no good reason but yeah okay, she’s a bitch and we must dislike her. Seondeok is as needed in this story as his son, and no matter how many clever chapters you start with “Depending on when you start, this story is about Seondeok” I won’t feel for her, I won’t care about her and I won’t care about any of the other secondaries. And I won’t even dignify Laumonier(s) with a segment— It’s so random and unneeded it doesn’t deserve the attention.

I was waiting until the end while clinging to the hope that it’d be some great mystery Maggie would wrap up and would make sense and MAYBE would be relevant to be story but that was that for expectations.

The Grey man’s character arc was more than done in my opinion and I wasn’t sure why he was suddenly forced to leave. Maura’s goodbye was more than uneventful and was disappointingly unmoving. I would’ve not minded his character just staying the way he was, a retired hit man with a psychic girlfriend who now got his well deserved rest. Him leaving and the novel ending with him unaccounted for was very unsatisfying as well.

Neeve died and I’m just lmao I don’t care but ok.

Then there’s Opal (Orphan girl) too, another of the secondary characters that I very much rooted for throughout the novels. I had so many theories for this character, hoping she’d have some sort of major yet hidden relevance to the plot and Ronan but in the end she felt both like some odd… Unfulfilling filler with no closure either.

In fact, this entire section could be easily summarized in a lack of closure for most secondary characters. While I can’t stop praising how greatly wrapped up the rest of the book is, most secondary characters make me fill unfulfilled. I don’t want to hear Maggie could be getting off if she was just paving the road and setting these characters up for the Dreamer trilogy, because this tweet happened on the end of 2016:

and the series was way more than over in 2015. I would very much appreciate and may manage to forgive Stiefvater if she were to develop and add onto these characters on the Ronan trilogy, but the sad truth is that I just don’t care for most of them and I don’t really feel like learning more about them either. Again, just purposeless filler.

General Gansey disappointment:

Another one of my golden rules in writing is that if you’re going to kill a character: You should definitely kill them. Reviving a character as an intelligent plot device or as a character goal can be a relatable thing and an earned struggle. When characters die simply to revive immediately… Simply does not work for me. I’m more grossed out by the moment and feel much less than the emotion overflow I would’ve had to live with if Gansey had died.

What’s more is the potential of Maggie heading down a great path for Gansey when Cabeswater tried to explain he could not just bring him back but “Make some essential part of itself human-shaped” and  “It was impossible to bring him back unchanged […] But it might be able to refashion him into something new”. This was so much wasted potential, such an exciting idea.

One of the most popular theories I was an avid followed of was the idea that Gansey was Glendower. Think about it as a quick parenthesis:

Reasons why Gansey could’ve (and should’ve) been Glendower:

— A continuos theme throughout the novel was time’s circle continuum instead of a straight line. “Not yet happened” a synonym of “Already has happened”: The present Noah sacrificing himself for 10 year old Gansey to live, the gang finding the aged up Camaro wheels along with Glendower’s shield, Blue’s face in the painting of the three women, etc.  These are all examples of how the possibility of Gansey being both Gansey and Glendower exist throughout the novel, or at least, an incarnation of him.

— Blue recognizing there was something more about him, Gansey’s agelessness as described by Adam:

“Adam knew that she had sensed the otherness to his friend: that sense that Gansey was both young and old, that he’d only just arrived, or he’d always been.”

— Gwenllian calls Gansey “My lord” “Father” in multiple occasions — The constant raven motif repeating itself from Aglionby’s uniform to Ronan’s dream Chainsaw — The women and several others creatures chanting “The Raven King, make way for the Raven King” to Gansey. Glendower being the real Raven King. — In the end scene, Gansey asking the wind to show him the Raven King and raven’s responding to his call. Glendower was known for being able to raven’s. — What if the constant Glendower calls were not a path they pointed him to, but the voice calling his own name? — We never got a clear reason as to why Noah would murmur he would live because of Glendower to Gansey when he was living because of Noah in fact. Noah trading his life for Gansey’s with the knowledge he was a King with a prophecy to fulfill would’ve been a more satisfying explanation. — Maggie constantly compares Gansey to the Raven King, while comparing Ronan to his poet, Adam to his magician, and Blue Gwenllian, the witch, the mirror. — The three Blue’s in the flag have red hands, and when inquired about it, Malory explains that the Bloody red hands are associated with the Mab Darogan, which is a mythic title for Welsh kings known as ‘Sons of Destiny’. These are the same three women that appear in Cabeswater chanting “Rex Corvus, parate regis corvi.” [The Raven King, make way for the Raven King] to Gansey & Co. Gansey, if not Glendower, perfectly could’ve been the next Mab Darogan, after all, the book was swamped with references of Gansey being kingly. The King who died and Lived. — Glendower could’ve also been sleeping indeed. Asleep inside of Gansey, awaiting to be woken up with his death. 

But Glendower was really dead, lmao and Gansey was instead revived right after. So anticlimactic.

I mean, honestly seeing Gansey come back as something else as said by Cabeswater would’ve been way more pleasant. Like Blue having to struggle with Gansey to recover part of himself or Blue seeing him off to change the world. Reclaim his long lost kingdom.

If you’re going to kill a character to revive him a few pages later, what is the point of wasting said pages in the first place? It’s something I’ve always had trouble understanding while authors do it a lot nonetheless —Similar to my latest rant of A Court of Wings and Ruin, when we were subjected to the same death pointlessness—. What’s worse is the unexplained plot hole it leaves by Cabeswater explaining to us how it wasn’t possible for it to revive him, and then proceeds to do exactly that.

I will however, recognize how pleased I was with the explanation of why Blue’s curse worked the way it did. Like in most YA or fairy tales, I was expecting it to go on without explanation and I wouldn’t have had much other problem with that. Two mirror facing each other was such a poetical explanation I can’t help but to pin it right on Maggie’s style.

I have mixed feelings about Glendower being dead, honest. The first time I read the book, I was absolutely thrilled by it, as it was arguably the biggest plot twist of them all. But at this point in my reading (and at this point in my review, causing me to reflect over a lot of things) Final Thoughts I’m too incoherent to add into the review:

That demon unmaking things was creepy af, g fucking g. Just the word unmade seems horribly unsettling. The way he was described was point in case amazing.

Noah’s possesion was also such a heartstopping scene as he gauged Blue’s eye. [Anyone else see it coming though? Ever since The Gray man warned she could loose an eye if they Greenmantle were to die]

No one even mentions Noah in the epilogue, which hurts deep. I was left very confused about what it was of him and found myself rather disappointed the characters didn’t seem to… Care enough? To think about him?

The body count was really high for a book by Maggie Stiefvater. It was all gruesome and great. My heart is very, very pleased.

CHAINSAW SITTING ON ADAM’S SHOULDER?? Why yes.

Adam driving Ronan’s car touched my heartstrings, and him not denying when his father mocked him for driving “his boyfriend’s car”. God fucking bless me.

The ending scene with Ronan was absolutely powerful: “Then he closed his eyes and he began to dream.” 

I love this book, through all its flaws. I just love it.
