Tough
There you go, girl. Going, going, going. Falling and skinning your knee. Watching it bleed down your leg. Waiting for scar tissue to cover you up so the next fall isnât so shocking. I see you, girl. Youâre tough. Youâre hard on the outside, and even harder on the inside. And what for? Because no one showed you any softness. Or at least, you didnât see the softness landing on you. The tendernessâŚ

Update, Some New Goals!
Hey everyone!
Iâve been reflecting on how to improve the consistency and quality of the content I share with you all, and Iâve decided itâs time to shake things up a little! Starting in 2025, Iâm really going to focus on sticking to a schedule that works for me, and hopefully, for you too.
First things first: Iâm going to keep Miscellaneous Media Moments on random Mondays, so you can still expect that fun, surprise content every now and then.Â
As for Thirteen Thursday Thoughtsâafter giving it some thought, Iâve decided to pause it for now. Itâs been fun, but I want to try something different for a bit.
Now, hereâs the exciting part: Five-Hundred Fantasy Fridays are officially happening! Iâm starting a reading challenge, where I aim to read 500 books in the fantasy genre. Why fantasy, you ask? Itâs a genre Iâm passionate about, and itâs one I love to write in!Â
But thatâs not all! Iâm also introducing Writing Wednesday. On Wednesdays I hope to share a little something from one of my many works in progress. Whether it's a writing snippet, character development, or just some musings on the writing process, Iâll be giving you a glimpse behind the curtain as I work on my stories. Itâs a great way to stay connected with my creative journey, and Iâd love for you to be a part of it!
Iâm excited for this new chapter and hope you are too. Iâll be sharing regular updates on my reading challenge, my writing progress, and maybe some behind-the-scenes as I explore this process. If youâve got any book recommendations, writing tips, or just want to chat about all things creative, drop me a comment. Letâs read, write, and grow together!
Thanks for being part of the journey!

The Ball is on a Roll
Itâs all starting to come together. Be real. All at once. Iâm excited and of course nervous. Back in 2019 my family and I set out to start our businesses. While I had some experience, college courses and field, we were all still rather green. It was all overwhelming and as we know now, there wouldnât be much time to get our footing. Covid hit, and while my family kept theirs going- I mostlyâŚ

#writingtips #29 Oh don't we all have these days. You can see so clearly the picture of a scene in your mind. It's a masterpiece. You rush to write it down. And out comes... mush.⣠⣠You've seen the memes.⣠⣠It happens to all of us. Ahem, much more than we'd like to admit. ⣠⣠It's an unfortunate reality, not everything that pours out of your magical fingers is going to be perfect. But you know what I am going to say - practice makes perfect. ⣠⣠The violinist doesn't get those perfect notes in that recording without hours and hours of practicing, going over and over the notes until they are...well...perfect.  ⣠⣠Keep going over your scene, rewrite, remove, start over, get feedback, ask for help, read someone else's scene. Make it perfect.⣠⣠âŁâŁâŁâŁâŁâŁâŁâŁ#writingwednesday #writingwednesdays #wednesdaywisdom #wednesdaymotivation #wednesdayquotes #wednesdaywisdom⨠#writingcommunity #writingcommunityofinstagram #writinginspiration #writingtip #writingtipsâď¸ #writingtipsandtricks #writerslife #writerslifeforme #amwriting #writerswrite #writersofinstagram #writing #wattpad #wattpadbooks #wattpadauthor #rubyredromances âŁâŁâŁâŁâŁâŁâŁâŁâŁâŁâŁâŁâŁâŁâŁâŁâŁâŁâŁâŁâŁâŁâŁâŁ https://www.instagram.com/p/CDOjSVVgZ1Y/?igshid=1lsqccd6p5cfn

âServices Renderedâ -- Raymond/Astrid
ANGST. PURE ANGST. Also some out of character decisions for Raymond.Â
This is my contribution for this weekâs #WriterWednesday.Â
Thank you @autumnleaves1991-blogâ and @clydesducktapeâ for keeping this train rolling.
The men sat in the library, speaking to one another and off in the distance behind closed doors, Raymond could hear Astrid and Ros laughing with the guests while waiting for the business to be done.
â...so, do we have a deal?â Mickey asked the thin Italian man sitting across from him and Ray.
The man hummed âOne more thing,â he said with a sly smile before turning to Ray âA night alone with your missus.â he said.
âYou canât be serious!â Ray growled, while Mickey rested a hand on his arm.
Mickey huffed as he looked back at him and forced a smile âWhat does she have to do with our business, Mr. Donofrio?â he asked.
He shrugged âA gesture of good faith.â he said.
Ray shook his head, there was no way he was going to let this sleazy con artists put a hand on Astrid. His Star. The Love of his Life. Besides, she was too faithful of a wife to sleep with some random guy doing business with Mickey!
Mickey grumbled, he wanted this business done now as he leaned over to Ray âWe can hand Astrid over, doesnât mean sheâs gonna sleep with him. She can handle herself. Besides--sheâll use any excuse to kick the shit out of somebody.â Mickey whispered to Ray.
Ray growled as he stared at Luca Donofrio. He wasnât going to use his wife as a bartering chip for one of Mickeyâs deals--would Mickey have said such nonsense if it was Rosalind who was being called upon? Ros would beat him and Donofrio to bits if she did.
I could give her my gun. She can shoot him and then the problem is solved--granted, Mickey will have to find other business, but Astrid stays my pure little honey bee. Ray thought to himself, gripping tightly to his pants before finally nodding and standing up from his seat to leave the room.
Ray slammed the door behind him, walking up towards Astrid and grabbed under her arm before dragging her away from the conversation and into a tiny hideaway room as she yelled at him to let her go.
âYouâre gonna go with him,â he said firmly.
âWhat?â Astrid asked, confused.
Ray huffed âLuca Donofrio. He wants some time alone with you, my love,â he said before grabbing his gun from behind his pants and handing it to her âYou shoot him if he puts a hand on you, do you understand me?â
Astrid looked at him aghast âSo youâre just gonna pimp me out to some weird Italian!?â she argued.
âYou do this one thing, and I will take you wherever you want to go, do whatever you want...fuck--Iâll even let you beat the ever-living shit out of me. Mickey wants this business deal to go through. Please.â Ray practically begged her.
Astridâs nostrils flared as she looked at her husband âI should just sleep with him to get back at you, you son of a bitch!â she said, grabbing his gun with one and while riding up the skirt of her gown with the other to strategically place the gun in between her stockings and garter belt.
âI love you,â Ray said firmly.
âYeah, Iâm sure you do.â Astrid hissed as she walked away.
She disappeared into the crowd, and Ray watched broken heartedly before retrieving back to the office where Mickey and Luca waited for him to return; Ray nodded at Mickey who smiled in return before looking back over at Luca.
âConsider it a deal,â he said.
In the early morning hours, as the sun rose, Ray sat in the living room waiting for Astrid to return home.
He didnât change out of his suit and would occasionally check on Enniss out of boredom and nerves while he waited.
Just as the clock struck 5:30, the front door gently opened and closed while the faint heeled steps of Astrid Smith echoed down the foyer and into the living room where he waited.
Ray met her gaze; her hair was disheveled, make-up smeared, and her dress was slightly torn at the slit. He couldn't stop himself from thinking horrid things when Astrid took a step closer and threw her clutch on the couch in front of her.
âHeâs gay.â She finally said.
Ray turned his head, slightly perplexed âWhat?â
âHeâs fucking gay, RaymondâŚâ
Astrid walked around the couch and glared at her husband âHe wanted to spend all night with me to discuss how âunbelievably fucking hotâ you are.â She remarked âSo I spent all night telling him in excruciating detail our sex life. It was the best smut he ever heard in his life and he will finalize the deal with Mickey later this morning, I will be getting a retainer for services rendered, and you will apologize to me after I do what needs to be done!â She lectured.
âWhich isâŚ?â
Astrid immediately clocked him square in the jaw, she cried out in pain as she broke her hand against his jawline while Ray loudly groaned into the couch cushion. The couple sat in their pain for a moment before Ray finally composed himself and looked back up at Astrid as tears fell down her cheek from the pain.
âHow could you fucking do that to me!?â she whispered in anger âIâm your wife! I deserve better than to be handed off to whichever business partner Mickey has brewing.â she hissed at him, her anger so bad that Ray wanted to die--why did he do this to her?
Ray reached out for her but she shooed his hands away âYou donât get to touch me ever!â she yelled.
âMy love!â Ray called out to her.
Astrid shook her head âYou get to live with the guilt of what you did. Even if nothing happened, the fact that you even allowed to let it happenâŚâ she trailed off, tears welling up in her eyes âIâm taking Enniss and Iâm going to stay with my dad,â she finally said firmly.
âFor how long?â Ray asked her, his voice cracking.
âFor however long it takes for me to look at your face without wanting to punch it.â Astrid said before backing away from him and leaving the living room and Ray alone with his thoughts. Â
Ray closed his eyes, giving himself a moment to compose himself again. He never liked it when him and Astrid fought--it never ended well.

Flash Fiction: Just a Bit of Cloth
âJust wear it,â her brother says, unable to understand her reluctance. âItâs just a bit of cloth.â
âI donât want to,â she says tearfully.
âItâs for the public good!â He gives her a sympathetic look. âIt is for your own safety.â
Itâs a symbol of oppression and control. She protested but the protest did nothing, not when so many citizens welcomed the law. Now she must cover up or face punishment and public shaming.
âMaybe it wonât be forever,â he says, exasperated. âNow put it on.â
Amaya puts on the headscarf before she leaves the house. The revolution which overthrew the monarchy did not make her free.
Note: since the 1979 Islamic Revolution, the hijab has become compulsory in Iran. Women are required to wear loose-fitting clothing and a headscarf in public to this day. Mandatory covering laws are never fleeting.

ŠAquarian Society Publishing All rights reserved. âNo, millionaires donât use this as a dating app. They use it in their business strategies. Here, let me show you.â Travis says, ushering Elizabeth into a room full of computers. âThis is where the input comes to be analyzed then redistributed out into the entire system.â âSo, itâs basically the userâs neuro-emotional processing center?â Elizabeth asks, looking from one computer screen to another. The brain waves of an unknown subject, a set of greenish-blue spikes, keeping track of their unconscious awareness. This subject was curious, confident, adventurous but cautious. âThatâs right.â Travis answers, breaking through any thought Elizabeth had to gaining a closer look at the last computer screen, the one that data scientists were actively sorting through. The quantification of emotions. Scientists believe that within this data lies the code to give birth to a conscious aware AI. A free thinking, free feeling entity derived from code. Elizabeth looks to Travis, her next question falling away as understanding begins to take hold. âWhat does this monitor?â Elizabeth finally asks. Itâs better to rip the Band-Aid off quickly. Let the hurt flow. Prolonging the inevitable was just silly. Travis is silent for a minute longer than expected before saying, âThis has been monitoring your emotions. The link feeds right into this computer.â Elizabeth notes that Travis says âtheâ not âourâ when referring to their link implant installed a little over a year ago. âHas any interesting data come through?â Elizabeth asks, genuinely interested in the answer. Since the link implant, Travis has been sorting around in her mind, uncovering parts of her subconscious, looking for clues to the killerâs identity. The process, fully agreed upon by both parties, was uncharted territory for neurobiologists around the world; and dedicating herself to further the technology to help more people survive was important to Elizabeth, no matter how difficult it was on her emotionally. âYes.â Travis hesitates then clears his throat before continuing, âyes, there has been interesting data received.â Elizabeth knew by the tone of his voice and the change in vibe to no longer pry. Sheâll get her answers from his non-verbal communication anyway. Once they get started on work, heâll let his mental guard down and sheâll be able to get a sense of where they stand. Sheâs already set to let him go again. Theyâre too close to jeopardize the mission now.Â

The American Dream
Well life is indeed a rollercoaster. I was going to write this yesterday, truly intended and all that, but had to work through some emotions first. Of course my insurance wonât cover what I need. Of course the company my husband works for is short staffed on driverâs leaving him with less hours. Only ray of hope I have left is that our caseworker pulls through and weâre able to get the place weâŚ
