spontaneous magic manifestation was NOT mentioned in the parenting handbook š¬
I know this isnāt how magic in dc works, but the fact that Damianās ancestry includes some pretty powerful magic users isā¦ INTERESTING š¤? Drabble under the cut!
I wanna preface that I'M NOT SAYIN' that Damian should/does have magic powers, but thereās still so much unexplored potential with Damian's character, and the thought that he has a dormant adeptness in magic is somewhat compelling to me. Most importantly it would FREAK! BRUCE! OUT!!!!! What is this, magic puberty š??
By DC laws, anyone has the ability to learn magic, but it is also possible to be an innate ability. The Al Ghuls are no strangers to the occult-- Ra's has had increasingly been portrayed as a magic user, and the recent establishment of his mother being a sorceress/witch?? Even Talia dabbled in a bit of magic, I think. There is a catch that their power is suggested to be due to Lazarus exposure, but for arguments sake let's say the Al Ghul lineage is inherently proficient in magic (and Lazarus exposure simply enhances it).
I can't recall "magic" being a part of Damian's training/upbringing (I'm still slowly catching-up on Damian comics so apologies if I miss any canon examples of magic use). Not sure why Talia wouldn't want her little "heir to an ancient assassin empire baby" to learn magic, but it would at least give reason to Damian not knowing about his magic potential, or lack of interest in it.
Through the power of pseudo storytelling, what if Damian's encounter with Mother Soul could have triggered a manifestation of magic that was once dormant; like a pressure cooker waiting to explode with energy when it hasn't been given a safe outlet.
I've yet to read a satisfying arc where Damian truly gets to contemplate his Al Ghul roots outside of "dad is good guy, mum is bad guy". Damian's initial character growth stems from him running away from, and renouncing his association with the League (i.e. "I'm nothing like you, mother and grandfather!").
The most recent thing I've read was Robin (2021), and whilst Damian is much more cordial with his mother, there's still an emotional distance and sense of distrust/resentment (for good reason, even if the context was some cartoonishly evil writing). But there is a silver-lining that they still appear to be fond of each other, in a melancholy kind of way.
Realizing he's "genetically" primed for magic would be especially confronting to Damian. There's no denying his Al Ghul blood, forcing him to confront a facet of himself he can no longer ignore or reject. A family that he likely has to approach for help/guidance.
Damian is put in a position of acknowledging this power could be used for good, to be stronger, to fight crime, balancing it with the implication that what he possesses could be rooted in dark magic (Lazarus enchantment).
If he decides to embrace it, would that be too much of an endorsement of the Al Ghul's dark occultism? Can he separate the two ideas? What if he can't control it? What if he accidentally hurts someone? What if has the ability to save someone where his other skills fall short?
Ideally, I'd love for this hypothetical story to lead into Damian exploring his Al Ghul heritage more intimately, historically, and spiritually (Ć la RSoB: Year of Redemption adventures). Another little coming-of-age self discovery journey.
I have my own little personal thoughts on what Damian decides to do with his magic powers, but I'd like to leave that open to interpretation... By the end of it I hope that he will at least find some forgiveness over resentment, and a balance between accepting that side of his family a little easier. It is finally a sense of inner peace :)
Any thoughts? Did I get any characterisation wrong? Let's talk over on my DC blog @arkhamochi! I'm currently trying to read all Damian-centric comics until I catch up with the current run. I'm hungry for discussion and analysis!!!!!!
#batman#batman and robin#damian wayne#bruce wayne#dc comics#P.S. drabble is kinda LONG so DO NOT read more unless you want the inconvenience of scrolling

I literally wouldnāt have cared if they decided to pull a Cyberpunk Edgerunners and kill off our entire main cast save for one or two characters and let the bad guys(the establishment) win. Tragedy isnāt the problem. The problem is the way they went about it. The show had so many plot threads to tie up, there was never any time to truly reckon with all the tragedies that were occurring.
Ekko losing his tree because of Arcane poisoning would be tragic. Notice I said āwould beā because that plot line is literally never addressed again. It gets brought up, and then forgotten about. Vi being hit by her girlfriend after she makes the decision to put on the uniform of her oppressors and contribute to oppressing her own people in pursuit of a little sister who she canāt accept has changed is tragic on multiple levels! Thatās some compelling shit! But the show never meaningfully addresses these issues or lets Vi react to them without throwing her into a new situation where she has to fight and lose something again. All Vi has ever done her entire life is try and fail to protect her loved ones. She gets punished for trying. Itās almost like the universe itself is out to get her! But we never see Vi break down and pick herself back up. We never see her make any choices to do whatās best for her. The plot decided for her and thatās the problem!
Vi and Jinx deciding to go their separate ways after all that theyāve been through wouldāve been tragic. These two sister who love each other more than anything having to break apart for who knows how long and holding onto the hope that maybe they can reunite and be sisters again is gut wrenchingā¦or at least it WOULD be if they actually decided to separate! Vi didnāt decide to leave her sister, Jinx didnāt decide to leave Vi, the narrative forced them apart! The narrative keeps ripping them away from each other and itās starting to feel intentional. Trying to tell the audience that the only way Vi can truly be happy and choose herself is by having her baby sister die and being forced to live with her girlfriend in a city that will be extremely discriminatory towards her is not it. Iām not saying that Vi and Jinx have to ride off into the sunset together. But I am saying that if going their separate ways really was for the best, the show wouldnāt spend so much time trying to convince us of that. It would just happen organically. Which, to me, it didnāt
Jinx losing Isha was yet another tragedy! But the show doesnāt really show Jinx grieving and then deciding to fight for what she believes in after Ekko convinces her to try. She tried to kill herself five times. FIVE TIMES!!! How on Earth did she go from that to a badass piloting an airship, dripped out with her new outfit and steeled sense of resolve? We donāt know because it happened offscreen! I understand the show had time constraints, but come on. This plot line deserved more time to shine. Sevika being on the Council is a tragedy. Itās an empty gesture for one, and majority rules for two. That means Sevika will be forced to try to barter for Zaunās freedom while being surrounded by a bunch of classist Piltie pricks who despise her and everything she stands for. She will be talked over and talked down to. Thatās not a happy ending! But the show frames it like it is! And Iām sorry but if you canāt watch interviews of the writers saying their thoughts on the show and you genuinely believe that they have the range to write Sevika being on the Council as thoughtful commentary? No commentššš
Caitlynās corruption arc is yet another tragedy! Both because of what happened to her AND the fact that the arc wasnāt done! Caitlynās arc was supposed to show how no matter how āgoodā and ākindā a privileged person believes them self to be, their unconscious bias and prejudice against the out group will rear its ugly head the second they experience a fraction of what the marginalized group has been experiencing for centuries. It was so easy for Caitlyn to say āI understand now. How easy it is to hate them.ā āThose animals!ā āI thought you were different, but youāre not. Itās her blood in your veins!ā How easy it was for her to weaponize The Gray. How easy it was for her to work with Ambessa and co sign martial law despite knowing better. How easy it was for her to risk killing a child just to get to Jinx. Thatās super compelling! But the problem is we never see Caitlyn wrestle with her decisions. Guilt should be eating her ALIVE and all we get is a complete 180 from her after a time skip! Then she does nothing to redeem herself! And once again, no the writers absolutely did not intend that to be commentary on how the privileged are able to get away with things the lower class would be imprisoned/killed for. If they did then Caitlyn couldāve had a confrontation with someone from Zaun, whether that be Sevika, Ekko, Jinx, Vi or someone else, where they call her out on her hypocrisy. Then we would see her wrestle with that and realize the monster that sheās become.
Unfortunately, all these tragedies are not given the proper narrative weight they deserve. Or theyāre not treated as tragedies when they so clearly are! THATāS the problem! Itās not tragedy, itās the framing! And itās the way yāall are so condescending whenever someone criticizes the show. Why is every single critique met with āYou didnāt watch/understand the showā? Why is it always āWhat were you expecting?ā āYouāre just mad it didnāt go your way.ā āYouāre just a hater.ā āYou have no idea how hard writing a script is.ā āThey planned the story from the beginning, this is how it was supposed to be.ā And on and on and on. Itās exhausting! Why is it so hard for yāall to understand that it is possible to understand and have love for something but still have gripes with it? It doesnāt mean I love the show any less! It just means Iād love it even more if not for these certain aspects of it. Thatās it, thatās allš¤·š¾āāļøš¤·š¾āāļøš¤·š¾āāļø

Ask Compilation: Blondes, feet, bowl-cut guardian lady.
He did not, they never had sex. But he was in love with her.
For sure. I think she struck him more like a teenager with the black hair and bangs, after the change (both visual and in attitude) she became a far more mature AND attractive person in his eyes.
PFFT, well, if you're saying they meet ALL of the criteria, I assume you mean both in looks and personality and hence be damn near his soulmate. DU drow could overlook weird feet (and a lot of other things, actually) if he were in love with the person in question. He would probably gently request they take better care of them, though.
Nothing special there, I'm afraid! He just has human-like skin - perhaps a little on the oily side but completely within the bounds of normality.
He runs a little hot, if that's anything. Oh! His hair is shockingly soft.
Correct! DU drow only (arguably) looks like a drow. He doesn't have their usual bone structure, height, or associated magical proclivities. He has some dark vision but its nowhere near as good as a drow's either.
I don't necessarily think all Bhaalspawn are the same way, but the Dark Urge IS quite different from the previous game's iterations. DU isn't simply Bhaal's child conceived with a partner, he's a piece of the god that supposedly slobbed off and grew legs and a face, pretty much. So yes, I do think that the Dark Urge at least is it's own unique thing.
The reason why he looks like a drow, is because he was placed in the Underdark upon creation. The metaphor I always use here is that if you place something infantile in a biome that is alien to it, it may try to adapt to it's environment to survive as it develops, to different degrees of success. This is why DU drow looks the way he does.
[MORE UNDER THE CUT]
You're welcome!
I've received a few snippets here that you can find through the #gift art tag! There is also the fic I'm in the process of writing called A Novel Experience on AO3.
It was just something I was compelled to do when I first drew him! The facial scars felt like they should lead into something else so I just made up a pattern on the spot, minus a tiny tweak here or there, it has stuck basically unchanged. All and any lore relating to the scars came later.
I get a lot of sweet messages but "thanks for your man's penis size" has to be one of my favorites. Thank you!
HELLO!
Thank you so much for the kind message! And that sounds like a fun dream, I love that your Tav got jealous of the attention ASTARION was receiving instead of mad that he had to share in the first place LOL
DU drow is desperately monogamous. He doesn't care what other people do with their lives but he's very much a "one and done" kind of person.
He would be willingly to participate in a threeway/have group sex with a partner, assuming the rules and regulations of said encounter were laid out clearly before or at least mutually understood between them. He would never want to see these people again after the fact though.
She does not, naturally I had no idea that this character was going to turn into anything when i made him, so I just... Made a lady. And since she was supposed to be a "guardian" I gave her a Joan of Arc type of look.
I've occasionally thought about changing this, but... Y'know, sometimes you don't need lore to be that in-depth, LOL.
The emperor gave everyone else a nondescript hottie he assumed they would trust, DU drow just got the same treatment. She's not even DU drow's type but definitely someone he would be compelled to take seriously yet not feel threatened by - so ultimately, her design does make sense.
---
That's all I have the energy for tonight folks, as always thank you for the many encouraging and sweet messages you send me, I'm sorry I can't reply to all of them! š
Have yourselves a great week!

Joku must hate Ink's guts because there's NO way lmaoš. She's just super averse towards everything that includes him??? You can even notice that she refuses to draw him in any of her art (it's actually common to see him covered up???or barely drawn at all), and honestly, all of this because Comyet didn't wanted any ships with her aroace character to be canon is extremly petty.
And you know what's even better?? At the time this happened, Joku was 19/20 and Comyet was 16. Bro was angry at a whole ass childš(there's screenshots that Goth's creator published where Joku is just bashing Comyet for no reason???lmao????)
the fandom was fucking wild back then. very glad joku is generally regarded as not good because dude who bullies a whole ass child like that. comyet was 16 and didnāt want her oc to be shipped with a grown adultās why is that so offensive to joku lmao. joku is very pushy and weird with the ships she wants with her characters and i donāt like that.
like. joku, you didnāt have to bash ink as a character and entirely remove him from the story just because youāre mad at someone.
gothās creator is another can of worms i refuse to even touch but im glad nekophy at least posted those because itās wild that joku got so upset at some teenager online over skeleton shipping. joku is weird with ace/aroace characters too (made dream aroacespec and said āi did everything i could to not sexualize him!ā and yet pressured jakei into making The cream comic, drew a human ver of him in a bunny suit whilst crying not that long ago, and a fuckton of other weird junk). joku said sheās ace but imo that doesnāt excuse the blatant disregard for inkās aroace identity or the weird back and forth she has with dream.
joku is just a really weird person with terrible storytelling skills and im not afraid to say it. she could have done so much with nightmare and dream but it turnedā¦ stale and dull. how come rahafwabas made jokuās own character more interesting than joku did??? how come jakei made jokuās own character more compelling than she did??? how come the teenagers writing fanfiction on wattpad made jokuās characters more compelling than she did???
i hope jokuās changed by now but i really dislike what sheās done to her characters and others in the process. ink and dream deserved a better, platonic relationship in their canon. not everything needs to be romantic.

Heyy , I love your fanfictions , so beautifully written especially the ones about Lotor and Allura , which brings me to my question , do you think that if Lotor survived , he would make his way to Allura to win back her heart š (AWESOME ART BTWšÆš¤š)
Firstly, hello!!! Thank you for taking the time to write me an ask, these always make my day! Secondly, THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! Not only for your kind words, but also taking the time to read my fanfictions and look at my art??! šš I'm so honored!!! ššš
In regards to your question, short answer: YES ABSOLUTELY! I can't help it, it's the romantic in me š And below the cut I'd like to get into the why!
Also lookit that height difference, so cute~~
One of the most compelling things about Lotor's character is how ambitious he is. Not only is it a desirable trait in a potential partner, especially from Allura's perspective ;) but it makes his behavior and choices that much more interesting to watch. Although it's hard to say exactly what his endgame was in the show, particularly when it comes to the Altean colonies (we're supposed to believe he was using them as batteries, but to what end??! something still don't add up), there are some things that can be explained, both from actual given information from the show and personal conjectures I've made for myself ^^
Let's start with him becoming emperor. I personally like to believe that he actively wanted the throne. His relationship with other Galra overall is unfortunately not good at all, which you can see in his interactions with other Galra such as Throk and Sendak. But once he is given the opportunity, Lotor puts everything into becoming emperor and making the Galra Empire his. His appearance at the Kral Zera comes as a shock to everyone, and his demanding and domineering regard towards them all is awesome to watch. Plus it's his right! He is the prince after all, so I just love the idea of him coming into his own, demonstrating his birthright and his capabilities, and taking what's rightfully his.
Also what a power move it was to finally make Lotor the emperor in this version of Voltron??! The only other iteration I've seen is DotU, so it is possible that in the other shows and comics he also became emperor, but it's just SO satisfying to watch in VLD this banished, pariah prince quickly become ruler of the most powerful empire in the universe! You love to see it.
After he becomes emperor he takes his title seriously and uses it to acquire one of the things he wants, which is gaining access to the Rift with Allura's help and providing unlimited quintessence for all of the Galra. I'm sure there is more that he wanted to do with it, but again, some things don't add up and we sadly don't have all of the information, so I'm afraid we can only guess from here! ĀÆ\_(ć)_/ĀÆ But in the meantime he doesn't take his role as emperor lightly. In his big speech in season 6 he is harsh, demanding, and even threatening. And I am all about it!!!
Don't get me wrong, while I absolutely love kind, soft, and romantic Lotor, I also dearly love cold, devious, and even malicious Lotor as well. You see this a lot with complicated male characters in epic stories: Kylo Ren and Qimir from Star Wars, Paul Atreides from Dune, Michael Corleone from The Godfather, and Sauron from The Rings of Power! What exactly I find so compelling about these kinds of characters can be summed up perfectly in this quote from Dune:
"...the Duke is really two men. One of them I love very much. He's charming, witty, considerate... tenderāeverything a woman could desire. But the other man is... cold, callous, demanding, selfishāas harsh and cruel as a winter wind."
- Dune by Frank Herbert, page 104
Lotor's unwielding ambition I think at times can give him tunnel vision, as we can see at the start of season 6 when Lotor wanted Allura to stay and help him with getting quintessence (again, using his resources and title as emperor to pursue what he wants) before Allura reminded him of his duties to his people in the moment. So he can be reasoned with lol!
And so! The reason why I bring all of this up, why I love thinking about the many sides of Lotor and how differently he acts with certain people, the many masks he will wear depending on what he wants, is to invite you to consider how he views his relationship with Allura. His growing feelings for her I'd say are more internalized until the last two episodes of season 5, but until then I like to think that it was never in his plans to get close to her. He wanted to team up with Voltron, yes, but he never could have anticipated falling for the Altean princess ;) What started out as a reluctant alliance and a simple means to accomplish his own end soon blossomed into genuine respect and love.
I have my own ideas as to how I would want Lotor to survive and redeem himself, just as I am certain you and all of us Lotura fans have our own ideas! And they are 1000% valid!!! At its foundation, if Lotor was to live and prove that he can be trusted again, I absolutely believe that he would do everything he could to make things right with Allura. Again, he is ambitious! Once he's decided on something, he will not stop until he's succeeded. If one plan doesn't work he forms a new one. He never gives up. He definitely respects Allura's agency, so of course he would never push her into a relationship with him (looking at you Lance Ā¬_Ā¬) but I do sincerely believe Lotor would persist in terms of proving to her and the others that he can be trusted as an ally again.
And now we get into Allura's opinion in all of this!! What would she think were Lotor to survive and come back into her life again? And well, I have a really long answer for that too lol! We already see in the series finale how she came to understand Lotor's perspective. We also could see in seasons 5 and 6 how much she really liked him and how head over heels she was for him. Like how adorable was that?? Our girl deserves to be that much in love ;_; After Sincline's return and Lotor appearing in Allura's room in season 8, it is clear that she was still torn up about him, and that she still had feelings for him.
This tweet sums up basically all of my favorite ships:
Of course in this context I mean this as a joke lol, but there's truth to it! Because at the end of the day, no one is going to understand Allura like Lotor understands her. Even Coran, who comes from the same planet and circumstances as she, would frequently express his doubts about her decisions. His heart is in the right place, and they have a very sweet father-daughter-type relationship and he just wants to protect her. But he just doesn't get her the way Lotor gets her. Nowadays when I think about the difference between how Coran treats Allura and how Lotor treats Allura, I think of this quote from The Acolyte showrunner:
ā'Do you want to be a part of this thing that I'm a part of?' Most fathers do this with their sons and their daughters, but when fathers do it to daughters, it's tricky, in my opinion.Ā When an equal, like The Stranger, like a partner, says,Ā 'I've experienced something, and I think you would benefit from it.Ā I have a similar history to you, and in adulthood, I would lay it at your feet as a possible tool kit for you to pick up and forge your life with,Ā unlikeĀ something that's instilled in you the way that your father instilled a lot of your hopes and dreams in you.'ā
- Lesyle Headland, interview with Collider
Though this quote is very specific to Osha's different relationships with Sol and Qimir, I think it applies to Allura, Coran, and Lotor too! Like all parents with their children, Coran has this idea in his head as to what is best for Allura. And I love the man with my whole heart, but it's clear that he would rather keep her safe than let her grow.
Lotor, on the other hand, wants to see Allura grow and thrive. He not only wants to see her reach her full potential, but he also sincerely views her as an equal. They also have so much more in common than they do with literally any other character in the show. He alone can see her power, her potential, her greatness. In turn, he wants to share with her his experiences, his ambitions, as well as his desires. And she is drawn to him in part because of them!
So I genuinely believe that, given enough time, they would both be able to reconcile, to heal the wounds left behind by their hurtful words and their parting, and resume their relationship which had only just begun. Because despite all of the pain they went through and all of the things they said to each other, some of which I'm sure they didn't mean in the moment, they still cared for each other. After all, Allura was the only one who didn't want to leave Lotor behind in the Rift! Between the two of them, the feelings were still there. They never left <3
As more time passes after the show's finale I find more and more things to appreciate about both of Lotor and Allura's characters. Your question has enabled me to dive deep into these new appreciations, so I sincerely thank you for that! They are my number #1 ship of all time, and I am always happy to go on suuuuper long tangents about them š And if you disagree with anything I said, that's okay too! In the end I do hope you were able to get something out of it, and thank you once again for asking! Have a wonderful rest of your day!!! šš

So I saw this tweet earlier Abt the dynamic between Stanford and fiddleford during the partnership and how similar it was to Stanford and bill's dynamic (incoming essay)
AND I COMPLETELY AGREE
As much as I love fiddauthor (or just ford and fiddleford in general) , fiddleford doesn't deserve the type of treatment he got from Ford.
Throughout the entire partnership, ford treated him poorly and only ever cared about him if it was related to the portal. Fiddleford was willing to work with him even though he knew he was being treated poorly, not to mention he didn't know abt bill or his intentions yet (at the time) and still had his suspicions while working with ford. He remembered to give ford a gift (hand-knitted special gloves for him to wear with several failed attempts beforehand AND a snoglobe of the shack) yet forgot to get a gift for his own wife.
He does all this but the second he tells ford that the portal is dangerous and should be destroyed, ford gets angry at him and says he doesn't need him ???
That's not to say ford isn't completely a POS , he does enjoy fiddleford's company and his partnership with him. Ford even gets closure with fiddleford and actually apologizes to him for all the shit he did to him. Ford gets character development for the most part and actually becomes a somewhat decent person. He's terrible but that's what makes him a great character. He does horrible things but also acknowledges he did said things and actively tries to not do that, even if it's hard to avoid it.
(op said he's objectively an awful person for what he did but also loves him anyway because that type of writing is what makes his character compelling and honestly I relate)
It's a shame that ford favours results over sympathy/empathy. He only ever cares people when they are of use to him and when they say something he doesn't wanna hear,he throws them to the side and searches for another.
Another thing Abt ford is that he tends to be stubborn and an egoist. No matter the situation,he always puts himself before others. This can be a good thing sometimes (like when he gets electrocuted instead of just giving bill the equation) but it's always shown in a negative light. Stan dedicated almost his entire life to bring back his brother after several decades and he never even got a thank you or when instead of hearing Stan out on that invention he broke in highschool, he just let his brother get kicked out (Ik the twins are kinda crappy people but Stan breaking ford's perpetual motion machine was an accident damnit. It's been 30+ years and he still won't let it go šš)
DESPITE SAYING ALLAT....ford isn't completely to blame for his behavior and how he treats other people around him to the point of being manipulative. Sure, his main flaws are what make him act this way (insecurity, need to be better than others, doesn't really think of others, etc.) but I think the only reason they've become worse is because of bill and how he manipulated ford, basically feeding into his ego and validating his beliefs. That, combined with his occasional selfish urges makes him want more.
More knowledge.
More praise.
More fame.
And this need for more makes him impatient. So much so that he starts using the same manipulation tactics (whether intentionally or unintentionally I'm not sure) bill used on him on fiddleford to try and get the same results, since said tactics work on him,so it would makes sense for him to do the same.
TL;DR yes, ford is a bad person but he's a bad person with layers and that's why I love him sm. Also fiddleford deserved better treatment
Anyway this'll probably get like 5 likes but uhhhh I'd love to hear any take on this really.
Agree, disagree I'd love it hear it
#gravity falls#stanford pines#fiddleford mcgucket#stanley pines#<--- but hes only mentioned in like one paragraph sorry#fiddauthor#<- kinda#in like an unhealthy unrequited love type of way#star talkies#god this was so fun#this was supposed to go out earlier but then i forgot for almost the entire day š#if this makes no sense or not organized enough im terribly sorry#I suck at making my point make sense :(#wanted to state more instances of fiddleford giving ford way too much attention but i can't remember them rn š#im cooked

hey!!! this is less of an ask and more of a fic rec tbh š but have you read 'I May be Invisible, but I Still Look Good" by Dandy over on Ao3???? It's after the movie AND Leo-centric and like he gets cursed so his spirit is ripped out of his body. It's like 125k words of wonderful storytelling
OH- but for an actual question, do you have and fic recs?? or any AU's you think people should go check out?
I tried answering this before and it erased my reply orz
ANYWAY YES I HAVE read this and I absolutely love it with every fiber of my being.ā¤ļø 100% one of my top fics to read in this fandom that I even go back to for a reread more than once. The characters are perfectly done and the set up for the story is believable with a fantastic payoff, highly highly highly recommend to anyone who hasnāt read it yet.ā¤ļø
As for recs, Iāve always been terrible at giving recs since my memory is very bad especially for ones I havenāt read in a while.š Off the top of my head I can recommend (note these are practically entirely Leo-centric since heās my special guy you understand (the others arenāt forgotten at all though!!!) - and most of these are very very well known so youāve likely already read themā¦):
[Note many of these are unfinished and may remain that way - please no one harass the writers for more, let them write at their own pace if they choose to write at all]
- The Neon Void by sugarpastels is absolutely incredible, the dramatic irony of it all as we follow Leo in the state heās in and see just how broken all the Hamatos are by his ādeathā is just ššš The fact that this places with one of my favorite tropes aka āLeo being in the Prison Dimension longer than canonā is just so good. Genuinely a thoroughly gripping tale that I highly recommend. Itās not complete yet (a lot of this list isnāt) but what is there is so amazing please read (though you most likely have read it already haha)
- little kid with a big death wish and firefight by remrose are another two youāve likely seen but by god are they worth the read. Firefight isnāt done yet but it and death wish are so amazingly well written and really go into how trauma affects people differently and how ties with family can be tested in traumatic situations. Hard subjects definitely but very maturely done. (Also I misread firefight as firelight for way too long before I realized it-)
- Power Up and Times Five by pickedcarrotsandradish are both unfinished but I canāt care because what we were given is so good that Iām fine with them as they are. Both deal with Leoās insecurities and bad feelings about himself and, very importantly, the fics go into how these insecurities establish a base for Leoās very real flaws and how those flaws push him to act the way he does. Very interesting and compelling stuff here!! Power Up especially does really cool things for the boysā mystic power ups, especially Leoās, and I loved reading about the ins and outs of what they could do.
- Race Against Life, Death, and the EPF by Cass_Phoenix is just so engaging to read??? Like I love the entire set up for it - itās feels so fresh and like youāre in Leoās desperate situation yourself. I was so excited whenever a new chapter came out because the atmosphere was so well done.
- A Mixed Bag by GreatlyBlessed is SHOCKINGLY not Leo-centric for once haha. Itās not completed, but again, like the others above it is so good that I recommend it anyway. This story is actually a crossover between four sets of TMNT (ā87, ā03, ā12, and Rise) and the dynamics set up in it are SO fun I love it. Team 2 is my fave because you have literally all my faves on that team how could I not?? I also highly appreciate that everyone gets a chance to shine and that thereās no bashing at all, theyāre all just very much in character and itās refreshing to read ā¤ļøā¤ļøā¤ļø
Thereās a LOAD more that I could recommend Iām sure but I donāt remember them off the top of my head at the moment.š If I remember Iāll come back and add them in!
(Forgot about AUās- honestly thereās some that I see and catch up on when I see them but thereās just so many that itās a bit difficult to keep track of sometimes! Iād have to go around and fully look through many before having a solid answer haha! The ones I do see are always so well done though, I may come back and add them here if I remember š
)
#non au ask#itās killing me to not remember them all orz#I swear thereās so much more#āare they all Leo centricā yeah LMAO#maybe one or two are more ensemble but yeah hahaā¦#my special interest hyper focuses on my fave sorry š heās also just the most fun for me to read personally#but yeah Iāll come back and add more when I remember them lol#wracking my head to remember#gonna tag this as#turtle fic recs#so I can find it again later

I see many people consider Dmitry a redflag LI but to me he's a morally grey character: he finds a strange girl amidst the rift and assigns her a place in the squad instead of, you know, just taking Lane hostage when she's made it clear she's pursuing her own goals and only compels to the squad's decisions because she has to.
I understand why the interrogation episode is icky for many people but for me the devil is in details: Dmitry stops the interrogation because he doesn't want to hurt Lane further, and the whole situation can be seen as a necessary evil from the squad's pov, given Lane's actions. And at the same time, Lane doesn't deserve that shit either: she's all alone in a trust-no-one situation, and now she sees very clearly that the squad is not her friends.
To me that's what moral greyness is: different interpretations of the situation, when you can see motivation of both parties without whitewashing them.
Dmitry's conversation about turning your weakness into your strength adds another facet to his character, just like the stolen babushka gift š. I love the way Alexandra shows that he actually cares about Lane through him wanting to give her a chocolate bar or helping her with the work and sacrificing his sleep.
And the soulmatism of their branch is so well done. It's not "your mc is promised to this LI although you'd rather have her killed him in a cold blood" but "yes the situation we found themselves in is fucked up and bleak but at least we have each other because in another universe we'd pass each other by without looking back"
And I love how you can see Dmitry lashing out in the latest episodes, with more and more people in the squad dying, because he's responsible for their lives, he's the leader. And you, as a player, can choose Lane's reaction to his behaviour.
But the thing that truly made me sympathize with him is him telling Lane "It would be sad to lose my humanity while hunting for monsters and become one in other people's eyes. I hope I haven't cross that line yet?.."
That's how you write morally grey characters! š
P.S. His latest CG fucks
i'm shook tbh that some people consider dmitry a red flag LI š like yeah. the interrogation scene was iffy and lane didn't deserve that. but the world has literally gone to shit and this is a man who's been forced by circumstances to blur the lines of his morality for the greater good and the safety of the people around him ??? when we take that and the post-apocalyptic survival-of-the-fittest setting into consideration, plus the fact that lane was sus from day 1 and didn't really make any effort to prove herself trustworthy, the interrogation makes perfect sense
and like you said the morally grey nature to dmitry is the most interesting thing about him especially when it ties into the development of his bond with lane like !!!! with cain there's affinity in their position as outcasts and the apathetic nature they share, suspended above everything, untouched by what otherwise jars everyone else in the squad
but with dmitry their affinity lies in dmitry having a different nature to lane and still being drawn to her despite that, still accepting her to the point where she points a fucking gun at his head and he doesn't even flinch š and doesn't even hold it against her later on like ??? there's so much devotion and unconditional acceptance to it and for me personally as someone who's on the whisper path it's definitely giving "the hero loving the monster and cherishing their blood-soaked hands" kinda dynamic
like it's "human" organic soulmatism like you called it, to balance out the otherworldly ambiguous soulmatism with cain. ugh i can't enough of it
i also love how he's been lashing out too and that not even lane has been exempt from that because he's just under that much pressure. i just adore how every single character has been written with their own role to play in the story, completely independent from lane, and they all get to develop just as much as she does as the story goes on š„¹
(and yes his cgs have been superior, even to cain, since day 1. i will die on that hill)

for the ask gameā¦brbabcs? (either the combined universe or whichever of the shows individually) š
I'm just going to do a mishmash of whatever happens to come to my mind lol - STREAM OF CONSCIOUS POSTING INCOMING
my favorite female character - over the whole brbabcs, obviously it's Kim. She was a great character from episode one, but they really cemented her as the Character of All Time with her fall from grace in season 6. She's so complicated and layered, achingly human and relatable, but also extraordinary, which makes her compelling to watch.
She's a hard character to sum up because she's so nuanced, but I think what draws me to her the most is her deep rage at injustice. Her fall is ironic because it was that desire to make the world "right" that led her to betray her core values - but honestly, who can blame her? Haven't we all wished that the Howard Hamlins of the world would suffer consequences too, instead of consequences being only reserved for people who were born in the "wrong" race/gender/class? But at the same time, embarrassing one Howard Hamlin is not actually the same thing as making systemic changes, and her desire to punish him was a personal vendetta, not actual justice. I totally get how the two got mixed up in her head, though.
I'm also a big Skyler fan - more on her later
my favorite male character - For BCS, it's Lalo lol. I don't think he's the BEST character, but sometimes it feels like Peter Gould got the gang together and was like, "Listen, tumblr user seraphtrevs has been having a hard time - why don't we write a character that is specifically tailored to all of her deepest, darkest, and horniest desires?" And lo, they did. He's so charming and cheerful and evil and funny and so so SO hot - I was doomed from the very first paca paca paca š
Side note, I think i'm such a villain girlie because I'm so anxious. Characters who don't worry about anything except doing what they want are very fun for me to watch. Imagine the bliss of not caring! *_*
For brba, the character I have the most affection for is Jesse, but Jesse is made to be loved. So instead...I'm going to pick Walt. He is the worst man who has ever lived and I completely get why people can't stomach him. My own husband tapped out of brba because he found Walt unbearable IN SEASON ONE.
So as a person, yes, Walt is the worst. But as a character? He's unparalleled. He makes things happen, which I think a very underrated character trait (and one that a lot of writers overlook). Walt is an infernal engine, a perpetual motion machine, a catalyst of catalysts. Things HAPPEN when he's around, which makes him a really fantastic character.
The other thing I really appreciate about Walt is that Vince Gilligan really stuck to his guns. He said he wanted to tell a story about Mr. Chips becoming Scarface, and by god that's what he did. A big problem with a lot of "antihero" shows is that they are often way too sympathetic to their protagonists and fall for their bullshit. And while a lot of the audience for brba fell for walt's bullshit, the writers were always very clear-eyed about what they were doing.
my favorite book/season/etc - an impossible question for bcs. all seasons are tied for best except season 2, which was a little tiny bit less good but only because it was necessary to set up the rest of the show's run, so actually it is also tied for best. I guess if you put a gun to my head, I'd say season 5 because it's the Lalo season
brba is an easier call - it's for sure season 4.
my favorite episode (if its a tv show) - for brba, I'll say The Fly, not necessarily because it's my favorite (too many favorites to choose from) but because I love character work, and that ep is all character work. Also, it's a good illustration of what I was talking about in my walt answer - it's an episode where "nothing" happens (or so claim Fly detractors!)...but making things happen doesn't have to mean making BIG things happen. Walt's monomania and willingness to do whatever it takes to "win" over something as stupid as a little fly shows what makes him such a great character
my favorite cast member - for brba, i think it's pretty widely known that bryan cranston and aaron paul have merged into one being, so I choose bryaaron.
for bcs, it's bob odenkirk. the entire show - or even the entire brbabcs universe, actually - rests on jimmy. like i know i just said that was walt, and it is for brba. but i think that now that bcs is done, you can make the argument that jimmy is actually the character that it was "about" (actually I'd put Kim in there too). Walt was always morally black, but Jimmy was genuinely morally gray for much of the series, and he maintained a human core that Walt lost. I think Jimmy and Kim are more relatable. (Not to leave Jesse out, bc out of the four of them Jesse is the most sympathetic in a lot of ways. But I feel like his story was more of a survival story, like Skyler's, and not so much a story about moral failure. Like yeah for sure jesse had tons of moral failures, but that never seemed to be the POINT of jesse, like it was the point of walt, jimmy, and kim.)
my favorite ship - for bcs, it's a tie between lacho and mcwexler. for brba, it's waltjesse.
i haven't talked about nacho at all so far which seems weird because I have a LOT of nacho thoughts (see my tag #nacho christ superstar). i feel like the cartel plot is like, the heightened version of the lawyer plot. or that's not right exactly - not heightened as in better, but heightened as more dramatic, more extreme, more literal. so lacho to me is like, what if you really were in bed with the devil? (i mean, maybe literal is the wrong word because he's not LITERALLY the devil, but lalo is a much more straightforward, morally UNambiguous character who is the personification of the evils of the cartel. so like. more literal. you know what i mean.) (plus i'm so horny for both of them. ššššš)
mcwexler is the best on screen, canon romance i've ever seen. period.
as i've said before, waltjesse is the six-in-one shampoo/bodywash/conditioner of toxic relationships. jesse is walt's student/business partner/best friend/worst enemy/mistress/wife/son/dog. how can you NOT love something that twisted?
a character Iād die defending - SKYLER. Fortunately tumblr has the right attitude, but it still blows my mind that anyone could judge her for what she went through. walt destroyed her life - every action she took was her trying to protect herself and her children. what she went through was pure nightmare fuel, and it astonishes me that anyone could think she was ever unsympathetic
a character I just canāt sympathize with/a character I grew to love - someone sent me an ask just about these, so i'll save these for later! this is already so long lmao
my anti otp - I don't really have any for the brbabcs verse! in general, i'm openminded about even off-the-wall ships because fandom is for fun, and no one in this fandom has ever annoyed me with some of the shipping behavior you get from bigger, more annoying fandoms

@wolfie-1221 posted a list of their fav rhaenicent fics š¤ 10/10 recommendations
I've been inspired to share my own list since I've been spending probably too much time on ao3 - hopefully it will be helpful for anyone looking to start reading rhaenicent (note that few are already mentioned in the above mentioned post)
My favourites (in no particular order):
(WIP) Seven (by @comicxgrl)
The story follows two alternating timelines and you're equally invested in both. It's so so well written, you fall in love with the characters immediately, the pacing of the story line is incredible and with only 5 chapters published, I think story is slowly set up for the main arc. The author is an architect and you can feel the thought process and clear intention behind every line and action.
(WIP) Out of sun (by @lumyart )
Rhaenyra and Alicent share a complicated past. Skip 10yrs later, Alicent is an excellent surgeon, has three kids and a husband. Their paths cross again when Targaryen Enterprises start being involved with Alicent's hospital.
Tags for this story are #bdsm #makingkinkemotional #emotionalslowburn - I think that's all you need to know?
I feel like it's really hard to write about bdsm w/o making it feel gratuitous. That's not the case here. @lumyart involves it as one of the main plot points of the story. It explores the emotional/psychological reason/need behind kinks and how those relationships differ etc. The push and pull in their relationship is dizzying, as the story progresses we get snippets of their past and what went wrong between them and how did they get where they are now. It almost feels like you're uncovering a mystery. There's many layers to the story and each chapter gifts you one piece of the puzzle.
See also: Blame it on Fate (morning show au we deserved) | silver sparks (wish this was the s02 hod script)
Love is complicated (by @molter-writes)
Absolute favourite of molter's fics and that's really hard to decide on.
This story made me want to start a campaign to get @molter-writes to actually write a rhaenicent Notting Hill AU.
Don't even read the summary. Just read everything and anything by @molter-writes , it will always deliver strong writing, a compelling storyline and characters that you can't help but fall in love with.
BodhrƔn beat (by @molter-writes)
I'm not a monarchist but I will make an exception for this modern royals au. Whatever you think this fic is about, you are mistaken.
Only one chapter posted so far but it's so so good. I don't think you realise how unwell I was after I read it.
See also: (WIP) leaf and blade | (Completed) grey ridge (rĆl liatroma) | (Completed) ride the dragon (and do it quickly) | (WIP) song of the exposition
(WIP) Lying (in the hollows of your heart)Ā (by @wakesirens)Ā
I usually read only modern AUs (because of the misogyny in Westeros, I have enough of that irl thanks) but this fic is amazing nonetheless. Keeping Baelon alive and him being king gives us an alternate version of Rhaenyra's life. One where she's his most trusted advisor and representative of the Crown but she's not bound to the throne/realm in same way as the heir. This allows her to still attain power and freedom usually not afforded to women. Oh and Alicent works in a brothel.
What you wanted (by mrdcai)
Berlin, spies, complicated past, angst
Again it's just excellent writing! This one only has 1/3 chapters out but I'm already convinced that it deserves to be among top five fics. Only downside is that the story will only have three chapters, though a part of me is hoping that the author will change their mind and make it a longer story.
Side note, I keep imagining Alicent as Olivia Cooke's character from Slow Horses... great spy/thriller show btw
See also: Desire (I want to turn into you)
Some other fics I loved:
(WIP) Honey, make this easy (by nerdsofdeath)
Alicent is a history professor at university and Rhaenyra is her new TA. It's a slow burn and v angsty š
Midnights Like This (by pure_black_wings)
College AU, they're two idiots in love that don't know how to cope.
War of Hearts (by Silanahfire)
Rhaenyra Targaryen is barren and the realm needs an heir. The King and Grand Maester Mellos found a solution in the scripts of Old Valyria. Alicent Hightower will carry her child, even if the estrangement between the two seemed impossible to end. An arranged marriage waits both.
(WIP) You Broke Me (by skullgamerscy)
Angst š
The Silver Queen and the Lady in GreenĀ (by Wandering Fan)
This is AU in every sense of the word. The author built a whole different world with its own lore. Very very slow burn

Sorry to hear youāre not feeling well š wishing you warm soup and good vibes
do you find that certain characters are harder/easier to write than others?
ive been giving Finn a whirl and heās a challenge! i feel like thereās a certain je ne sais quoi about him thatās difficult to bottle. So Iām curious if there are characters you feel that way with on your side of things.
I'll shoot straight with you.
Finn bores the shit outta me in the iteration you all are familiar with. He has no motivations, he has no forward motion, he is just a cute flower boy. And that's great for self indulgent fluff.
But what the fuck is anyone supposed to do with that in the long run? Nothing all that damn interesting unless you build out a whole character. Which is what I've been doing behind the scenes.
Characters of mine who have motivations, desires, and drive are easy to write. Characters that don't, suck to write.
Wish I had a better answer than "idk basically you have to make him an actual character" but quite literally...yeah. People are only familiar with his traits. Traits are great. They do not make for a compelling character, because like...why should you care? Why should HE care?
Anywho. Didn't expect to dunk on my own shit that hard, but you bring up a great question and I think that's what the issue probably is.
I'll be very relieved to pull the curtain back on Finn when my work is done.

Finally got around to reading the first volume of ONEās new manga āVERSUSā which is drawn via a new art collaborator: Azuma Kyoutarou! So far it honestly continues to confirm that One Punch Man & Mob Psycho 100 werenāt just flukes & ONE truly is just that good at original writing.
Basic 1st Chapter Spoilers:
VERSUS is a worldbuilding masterclass where multiple distinct human civilizations of different worlds facing varied extinction-level events/threats collide in an isekai-like fashion & must strategize & collectively work to resolve their doomsdays by pitting those threats against one another. As several readers have pointed out, the truly special thing about it is how each & every one of the so far revealed 13 worlds has a distinct setting that could easily work as a stand alone series which exponentially makes the whole series more compelling & fresh. Of course it has great fight scenes & character/creature designs & ONEās particular brand of comedy that entertains but rarely takes away from tone & tension. One of the funniest wrinkles of the series is how the different humans, despite being desperate refugees of mid-apocalypse worlds often bicker like fanboys over the strength & danger their particular worldās threat is in the style of fandom arguments like: āAre you joking! Goku could totally beat the Hulk!ā
So far the only issues I have with the series are:
A) The manga deserves a much more distinctive title than āVERSUSā. Hell, just from a search optimization standpoint the name completely kneecaps the seriesā penetration into the mainstream/zeitgeist.
B) 11 chapters in & it sort of feels like the pacing is a bit off in a way I canāt quite explain. It feels slightly too fast but it might just be my own personal brain chemistry making it feel that way.
C) Somehow ONE has managed to create a much more annoying floating mascot character than MP100ās Dimple in the fairy character PanePane. It ruins each and every panel itās in š
Besides all that though, I absolutely HIGHLY recommend giving the series a read for any manga fan but especially to anyone who already loves Mob Psycho or OPM

/twirls into the room 1 2 3 21 for the ask for one nate river please!!!!
HELLO AND WELCOME š„° these were genuinely the hardest questions to answer because I could write essays upon essays about how much I love him but I tried to keep it at least somewhat brief!!
~
1. Why do you like or dislike this character?
I adore everything about him š„ŗ hereās a bullet point list so this doesnāt just look like one daunting wall of text:
The very first thing that compelled me was his relationship with Mello. I love the idea that theyāre designed to be two halves of L, and that he is fully aware of his own shortcomings as an individual despite Melloās own permanent state of denial. Heās so understanding and forgiving of Melloās actions, he defends him when he canāt be there to defend himself and gives him more credit in the warehouse than he gives himself.
He also demonstrates this level of empathy with his team, factoring their opinions into the decisions he makes and checking in with them to make sure theyāre comfortable when he sets them dangerous tasks. Heās stated in Volume 13 to be sensitive, and this comes through so clearly in the way he interacts with the people he cares about.
Heās direct when he has to be, and he doesnāt put on a fake persona or play into childish mind games the way L and Light do. Heās honest with the people he trusts, and when he has to lie, he does it in the most straightforward, simple way. Most of his plans are like this - relatively straightforward, rarely overcomplicated. Heās sharp and he thinks things through very thoroughly, even at short notice.
Much of his personality comes through in nonverbal cues and subtleties in his dialogue, like the creativity in his construction of toys and puppets, and a vague streak of recklessness in the way he so casually destroys them. His inability to throw darts is also one of my favourite things about him, because of the way it starkly contrasts his tendency to be good at everything else. He can stack thousands of cards into the shape of an āLā with the most insane impeccable precision but he cannot hit a dartboard from 1 metre away. Iconic.
Heās the least arrogant and prideful of the main cast, but he does have a tendency to be judgemental, with regards to the way he freely calls people stupid and gets frustrated by anyone he sees to be a mindless follower. I think itās interesting though how he seems to feel much more strongly about that than L and Mello do. Mello wants to catch Kira to beat Near, and L wanted to catch Kira for the sake of his ego, but Near seems to have a real, genuine disdain for Light and everything he stands for, despite also somewhat buying into the idea that the whole thing is a game.
On the whole heās just SUCH a unique and well-designed character, and I love that, for how direct and unapologetic he is, there are also many complexities to dig into if youāre willing to go looking for them.
2. Favorite canon thing about this character?
His facial expressions!! In particular I am OBSESSED with his evil little smile š he does it when he knows heās right about something, and he gets immediately smug about it, and itās especially delightful to watch when Light is on the receiving end and is just as aware that heās been backed into a corner. I love his angry/frustrated look a lot too, especially when his cheeks get all puffy.
3. Least favorite canon thing about this character?
Everything about his anime counterpart, if thatās within the scope of the question lmao. For manga Near only, I do find it a little sad in the warehouse scene that he immediately writes off the possibility of Mello having deduced that Takada had the notebook. I get why that would be hard to believe from his perspective, but given that he is Mello Apologist Extraodinaireā¢ļø in canon, it seems pretty depressing that he spends probably the rest of his life believing Mello saved his life by total reckless accident.
21. If you're a fic writer and have written for this character, what's your favorite thing to do when you're writing for this character? What's something you don't like?
I really like exploring his feelings, in a very general sense. His feelings towards Mello of course, but also his feelings towards L and the successor program, towards his childhood, towards himself and his own identity and future, and broadly, the ways in which he deals with these emotions. Itās very easy to read his character as entirely unemotional and I hear that said about him a lot, but I think heās much more complicated than that and there are a lot of compelling possibilities to explore.
Something I dislike is probably putting him through too much angst š I HAVE written fics that donāt end well for him and I can write them just fine, especially if there is a light at the end of the tunnel, but in general I much prefer making Mello suffer. This is mostly because Near is my favourite and he deserves the world, but I also do find Melloās anguish more narratively compelling given that heās more likely to react in ways that are irrational and self-destructive.

hiya itās been a hot minute since I sent an ask but I want you to know that Iāve been reading all your stuff for months now, refreshing multiple times a day bc I canāt get enough and I adore everything you write <3<3<3 I think your more recent writing with the darker themes is well done, it adds the perfect amount of angst and stakes to the story, more than vague threats of getting hurt, esp in the under city, but itās not too much at the same time. Also your newest TT treebark is probs my favorite fic thus far, and treebark isnāt even my favorite ship lmao. Itās so arghhh yesss with Rens acting but Martyn canāt tell nooooo š I REALLY want to know what Ren was thinking that whole time negotiating with the bandits, esp when he finally looked at Martyn bc he could probably hear his cries the whole time and UGH it breaks my heart in a good way. AND MARTYN ACCEPTING THAT REN WOULD DO THIS, AND FORGIVING HIM????? The angst, the FEELS. Stunning. A masterpiece. I start my days checking to see if youāve posted Iām so obsessed XD. Might have to draw the sceneā¦ anyhow. I see you get a lot of requests to write certain ships now bc all the stories r so captivating we just HAVE to know more. But. I hope you donāt feel pressured or stressed about it, make sure to prioritize your own wants first. The quality is worth the wait <3 that said, Iām going insane over Martyn. oH also!!! Ren grabbing the wolf pendant!!!!!! He knows how much it means to Martyn my HEART theyāre so AAAaAAaAaaaaA!! And he waited until he was between Martyn and the bandits to attack! To protect him! š„ŗš„ŗš„ŗ the little details are so sweet Iām dying to know rens thoughts. He probably has the rage of a thousand suns in him after seeing Martyn tied up, hurt, crying, bc they would DARE lay a finger on the only one who protected him, who was nice to him. Just. Tomorrow canāt come fast enough. Iām def gonna draw this. Also side note love the new pfp
Hello!!!! Good to see you!!!!
I'm so glad you're still reading and enjoying my works!
Also very happy to hear you're enjoying the darker themes that have been coming up recently in both TTSBC and TT! You're exactly right, that's exactly the sort of thing I was trying to nail...oh yeah ANGST with Treebark right now!
I mean. If you feel inspired. I would LOVE if you drew this scene. Because like, I have that art you did of Ren asleep on Martyn's shoulder as the cover image to my Treebark fanfic doc š„¹
Thank youuuu I appreciate the thought about not feeling pressured or stressed, I promise I'm not! I know everyone is just excited for their favorite/most compelling storyline to continue! And like I've said elsewhere, I plan to stick to my mantra...when I try to write something I'm not in the mood to write, I burn out and don't feel like writing at all. That's what happened to me the last time I stopped writing, and I didn't post at all for nearly a year. I HATED THAT. So TTSBC and TT is the perfect situation for me! Lots of ships, lots of characters, lots of dynamics, and between the two I can write BASICALLY anything I feel like at any point in time! So yeah! I'll write what I feel like writing in the moment, because that's always when I come up with my best stuff!
THE WOLFS PENDANT YUP GOOD CATCH. Ren's a good guy, he pays attention to that sort of thing š
I'm glad you like my new pfp!!! I love it! It's by my same friend who drew my old pfp, but THIS one is of an original character of mine everyone who reads TTSBC is very familiar with and people very scared of, but I assure you, any resemblance to characters previously mentioned is purely coincidental, hypotheticals should be, should be, should be dismissed, and there is no need to be concerned. š
Thank you for coming by again!!!

your failteacher yuri AU is so so good. what's so frustrating about persona is that it has plenty of good ideas and characters that get absolutely wasted or mishandled by the actual narrativeā¦ like these two teachers. you write them with so much more respect than the games ever did. keep it up!
so as a general rule i don't tend to respond to this Genre of comment or really even enjoy it--as far as my own personal feelings r concerned, "you do [x] better than [source]" (in whatever ways it's phrased) is Not a compliment--but in this instance i gotta say it. they fucked up so bad and it makes me so madJDBHJJNSDB
so... just this once... i'll salute you... im at least glad people like my work and r enjoying a whiff of my beloved women without atlus sabotage ā
i've said before that p3 hermit and p5 temperance are my favorite links--p5 temperance especially i think is really tight and has an interesting foundation. the actual narrative glue holding that thing together is strong. like the THING is that i don't have to go out of my way to find interesting and compelling material here (and i certainly don't have to make it up from whole cloth or anything)
i would hate for people to have the impression that i'm spinning this all out of nothing or that i hold the source In Contempt or whatever. obviously my concept/inciting incident is zany (haha) and i've added or tweaked a lot of smaller things to better facilitate this specific AU, but this story wouldn't have nearly the legs it does without the genuinely good material they put in those links, and i wouldn't bother making it at all if i didn't seriously love those characters...
...which i guess is kinda what makes it doubly frustrating... that in both cases they've just kind of stapled on some gross stuff that adds nothing (aside from ick factor of course) and doesn't fit with the rest... when "the rest" is genuinely compelling. not only is it a bad move on its own but also it drags down the otherwise good material around itself which is always annoying, yknow... like if it was Just All Bad i would at least be FREE š
anyway it's whatever it's whatever . i want to draw a chapter where they talk about their Deep Baggage sooo bad. and i can be like Look. Normal Hermit. Welcome To My Twisted Mind. Or Whatever
#WE DREAM OF THE āNORMAL HERMITā LORE CHAPTER WHERE I EXORCISE MY PERSONAL DEMONS#my only solace is p5 temperance has the platonic route as per the New Rules. so at least theres that....would recommend doing that one....#my personal demon on the other hand is that bc p3 hermit doesn't have a ādating resolutionā anyway they didnt touch it in reload. GET ME OU#i guessāto look on the positive sideāthat makes it easy to excise huh. one's an inferior optional route and one's utterly inconsequential#like they just did that for NO reason. unrelated to EVERYTHING else in ANY part of the link. IT MAKES ME SO... [audio fades out]#i gotta keep this project going until Normal Hermit Explained at LEAST... so i can pass away peacefully#sorry . i promise one day i will stop bitching about persona. but nobody bitches about persona more than persona fans i guess HBRBHDJK
