Reasons to play In Stars and Time: Canon Pronoun Warfare.
#in stars and time#ISAT#Siffrin#Loop#Context: early on you meet a character who tries to get you to use the royal We pronoun for them and you shut them down. It's great.#The gender swag and non-binary rep in this game is lovely.#I sketched this out when I was in Act 2 - and as of posting this I have not yet finished the game so *please* no spoilers.#It is rare for me to get into something spoiler free and I have been getting my shit rocked by this game in the best way.#Yes I *am* taking another detour to talk about a video game I love again. I will have some fun crossovers. Trust the process.#I will also do my best to pitch this game as spoiler free as possible. Because you *should* play this game:#ISAT is a very lovingly crafted RPG with very fun and emotional writing.#The characters are great and the mysteries you slowly uncover are intriguing!#The way the gameplay ties into the player's own emotional state is nearly always in sync with the protagonist. You *will* feel things.#And it is not afraid to let those things be hard emotions! Do mind the content warnings and know your limits though.#As someone who sucks at video games I also appreciate that it is so generous with your time and keeps things fun.#Not to mention it is honestly underpriced for the amount of content in it. Buy this game. I need to spread the brainworms.

Let's Be Honest, If You Could Hop Dimensions, You'd Save Eddie Munson Too <- AO3 LINK
(Please give my Steddie+Original NonBinary Time/Dimension Traveling Character fic a shot? I'm writing again, and I need validation, please REBLOG. Steve Harrington isn't the only one with a Praise Kink around here. 🫠)
It's a very unserious comedy/adventure- Featuring a Non Binary Character named Haven (this is not a self insert). They are a badass Dimension/Time Traveler who shows up for Eddie. It's hard not to fall for the OP baddie who comes specifically to save your ass, so naturally Eddie falls for them, then Haven helps Eddie see he can have it all and they quickly rope Steve into their shenanigans. This ain't a slow burn, but because it's the Apocalypse you'd think, 'there's barely any time for make-outs and cuddles'... but when Boys in Crop Tops are involved, we make time...
Also, it features a lovely scene where Eddie is in disguise and Steve cannot for the life of him 🥵...
<Artwork above is my own creation assisted by AI> ...with a little helping of original art inspired by the scene from @DrawingRune on Twitter ...
Summary:
Getting dropped into the Stranger Things Universe in the boathouse where Eddie Munson is currently hiding out could have gone better. Unfortunately, dimension traveling isn't an exact science. Honestly, its kind of a shot in the dark at the best of times.
At least they landed near the person they were looking for.
The timing could have been better.
And they had some notes on the point of arrival.
Being that it was just behind the boat where Eddie was currently hiding under a tarp, in fear for his life. Would have been a smoother entrance if it had been about six feet over, in the actual boathouse, and three feet above the water instead of below it.

Abt ur nonbinary ppl post; I personally think that pyro fhcks and people need to stop being cowards
i’m glad we’ve socially accepted that pyro tf2 is non-binary like. universally. pyro being non-binary is truly one of those things where i think even the most centrist tf2 gamer boys would take that on the chin and hardly blink. but i’m NOT happy that people then went on to say that pyro cannot fuck. you people will adapt scout teamfortress into an uwu scared of other men’s dicks “be careful it’s my first time” boy or sniper teamfortress into an around the clock sadist who does kink negotiation on the first date but won’t let pyro teamfortress have normal ass sex as a non-binary person? i know why. and it’s frustrating.
#shut up me#everybody talks#‘oh you’re one to talk you never write them fucking’ check the records i have and will#i primarily write family friendly stuff because i feel i’ve already said my piece on the mature topics i care most about most#before you start telling me your personal headcanons i BEG of you. consider. why the non-binary character? why pyro?#why not put those headcanons on soldier? because he’s too masc for you? or demo? same reason?#or medic? oh he’s mean that’s why huh. so it has to be the one who killed a bear with an axe.

Nonbinary Heavy is so important to me as a concept. His ideas of gender presentation are vastly different from the traditional American ones. He grew up in a family of four women who engaged in tough physical labor as much as in more traditional household responsibilities. He goes by "he/him" out of linguistic convenience but these pronoun games mean nothing to him emotionally. He's big and strong, and he likes to play the protector of all things dear to him, but he also lost his childhood to a rough life full of challenges and must now be handled with care and gentleness like a precious flower. There is something beautiful about that.
#tf2#tf2 heavy#struggling to write nonbinary characters because i am nonbinary and it is very hard for me to comprehend gender on a non-physical level#so by extension i suppose everyone i write is nonbinary#*the incredibles villain voice* and if everyone is binary... no one will be

I think the anon is tryna ask if you, my lord transitioned to another gender than the original gender you were before.
For example: A man can turn into a woman and a woman can turn into a man.
[I am so BAD at explaining this bro 😭]
"Ah, I understand now... No, I have never transitioned my gender, the way that I was born is the way that I am now, and I feel comfortable in my skin."

Enchanting music of the night 🎶🌙✨
Human dancer!Reader x Ror Hermes
➩ Stealing the attention of a God like Hermes is the least thing you'd expect as a mortal, but you found yourself with an advantage.
You two had only met once before, now that he was back to seek your attention you decide to tease him and show off your skills in dancing to the lovely melodies he plays to woo you.
➩ Reader type: non binary reader.
⚠: Romantic fluff, a lots of teasing tension~
A/N: Hope you guys enjoy this one, I sure did writing it~♡
Underneath the twinkling stars, Hermes approached a figure he knew too well, someone he has kept his eyes upon for quite sometime now.
With violin in hand, he uses his nimble fingers to play a melody that echoed through the divine air of the empty halls, once crowded with life.
A blend of celestial notes that seemed to dance with the night and the God himself.
Y/n turned, their eyes reflecting the glimmering constellations above. They'd always admired the stars.
As Hermes played, he poured his emotions into the music, hoping to catch y/n's attention as well as express the depth of his infatuation with this mortal.
Each note was a whispered confession, and every chord a declaration of his love. However, y/n who was well aware of Hermes' reputation from their previous encounter, responded with a teasing glint in their eyes.
Suddenly they stood up, giving Hermes the attention he wanted. Y/n moved gracefully to the music, matching Hermes' enchanting tunes with a subtle sway of their body.
The air crackled with a playful energy as y/n reciprocated the flirtatious dance of melody and movement.
Hermes, usually the master of wit, found himself enchanted and further drawn to the clever y/n. In an attempt to impress, Hermes approached the enigmatic figure, the soft notes of his violin still somehow playing, filling the air like a gentle breeze.
"Greetings, my dear. Would you care to share a dance with me beneath the stars?" he asked, his eyes twinkling with mischief.
Y/n, with a playful glint in their eyes, replied, "Ah, Hermes, the swift and charming. I've heard tales of your wit. Show me what you've got~"
Accepting Hermes' gloved hand with a sly smile. Together the two gracefully moved as they twirled and spun beneath the cosmic expanse.
Laughter echoed through the halls as the duo enchanted the divine onlookers.
"You play well, Hermes, but can you keep up with the rhythm of my heart?" Y/n teased, their gaze locked with his.
Hermes, smitten and determined, matched their playful banter.
"Oh, my dear, I can dance to the beat of any heart, especially the one captivated by yours y/n."
Y/n to put more logs onto their playful banter leaned in, whispering into the gods air. "Perhaps you're not the only one with tricks up your sleeve, messenger~"
As the dance continued, the celestial pair engaged in a delightful exchange of teasing glances and playful words.
Hermes, usually the master of wit, found himself charmed and challenged by y/n who had effortlessly turned the tables on him.
"I thought you gods were supposed to be untouchable, yet here you are, dancing with a mortal~"
Hermes starts smirking to himself at the comment y/n made. He really needed to step up his game and match their energy.
"Maybe you're just..too irresistible~"
As the music reached a crescendo, Hermes, unable to resist the magnetic pull, pulled y/n out from the dance and into the shadows.
Y/n taken aback by this sudden move blushes deeply, eyes widened.
"What's the rush, Hermes?"
Without a warning Hermes had now pinned y/n up against a nearby wall, out of anyone's sight in the deep dark night. He leaned in close to y/n, almost in a threatening way.
"Sometimes, even gods can't resist temptation..may I, my dear?"
Y/n found themselves for once speeches at Hermes words. Not once in a lifetime did they ever imagine a God, let alone Hermes when they had first met to ever want to pursue them.
Yet, here he was, having just danced with y/n and was now offering a kiss. This was a chance they might not ever get again.
Y/n nodded, giving Hermes the permission he needed for their lips to meet.
The kiss Hermes gave y/n was almost unimaginable, one they'd never forget. His soft lips were warm, their passion once ignited by the dance now consuming them in a fervent embrace.
The world around them faded, leaving only the intoxicating allure of the moment.
Y/n when Hermes finally pulled away, giving the mortal a rest from his passionate kiss, they found themselves breathless.
"Well, messenger of the gods, that was quite the message from you.."
Hermes chuckled softly at y/n and whispered. "Consider it a special delivery of my love to you, my sweetling~"
"Oh my.. Is that a real confession then~?"
"You can call it that, y/n"
As the night continued, the stars and moon bore witness to a dance that transcended mortal and divine to finally find love, leaving the two lost in the enchantment of the night.

So like, I just watched a video about how the 28 female characters out of Harry Potter's top 100 characters by the amount of times they are mentioned in the books reveal a very specific pattern of internalized misogyny (& other bigotries but mostly misogyny) in JK Rowling's writing. And I've been thinking about how I, too, don't write a lot of women (something I've been trying to remedy for a while to be fair). And to spare you the whole train of thought regarding one of my projects, the meddie-centric askblog @ask-the-half-moon-meeting, seeing as the women to men ratio in that cast is 4:5 (or 1:2 if we count only the core protagonists and leave the secondary mentor and meddie-adjacent cast), do y'all think I should consider gender-swapping any of them?
#I'm also noticing I do not really ever write non-binary characters#I'm half tempted to make Kestrelflight specifically one#he just seems the least binary of the core trio of him + Willowshine + Jayfeather

No like seriously ARE we ready to talk about the misogyny in fandom spaces
#or more so like. the disparity. of depictions of men vs of women. i#and like. dear god. it's dire out here sometimes#um. anyway i dont say this to like invalidate anyone and i worry that by even saying this it feels terfy?#but its like no u can talk about misogyny while including trans people especially bc of the overlap. heterocissexism. is ghat a word#like . ugh i just. its never like an individual thing i have beef with u know#like if someone tends to prefer male characters or writing men loving men im never gonna shit on em yk#it just . bothers me how large of a trend it is#especially in comparison to f/f...#like jave u see the differences on ao4#ao3*#or the differences in how people talk about men vs women here#obviously theres room outside that binary and i fucking hate it as it stands anyway but it does stand and we should talk about it.#like i dont think this is just a cis issue at all. we should also talk about how we talk about nonbinary or gender non conforming characters#but its also like can we be normal about women too. and not prioritize men always . um#hey guys . rambling in the tags is all to say. this post explicitly includes trans people. i will not tolerate any#transphobic rhetoric on any responses to it. you will be blocked.#sierra speaks#misogyny in fandom

me, after watching Nimona, making all my shapeshifter characters like Nimona because she's legitimately the best written version of this character trope that I've seen:
#always thought shapeshifters were cool#but I think Nimona brought this niche to a whole nother level#the way her shapeshifting powers tie into her character#and intertwine into her story in a way that isn't contrived or controversial#how it's woven into her identity in a way that doesn't diminish transgender and non-binary identities#and gives a whole new light to how we should write and view shapeshifter characters from now on#also the upgrade from Double Trouble to Nimona as genderqueer shapeshifter icons (even tho Nimona came first) was GREAT#going from the tired 'the genderqueer character is an alien/nonhuman just because' to#'the genderqueer character is still nonhuman but it's more nuanced and well handled'#was well worth the wait#nimona#writing#character tropes#sort of meme#kinda shitpost

Thoughts about Kyuubei
Kyuubei is a very interesting character. At first she’s introduced to us as a man (although the anime's ending spoils that she’s biologically a woman), but then we learn that her masculine behavior was an imposition from her family, and that she would’ve actually liked to do the things that girls typically do. Apparently, Sorachi's idea was to make her feminine at the end of her introductory arc, but he felt it wasn't right. This is how Kyuubei's journey with gender begins.
It has been said before, but it’s important to mention that Sorachi's approach to gender issues is strongly linked to the modern Japanese perception. Still, he tried to give depth to the character. Kyuubei sacrificed her eye to protect Tae, which caused the latter to feel guilty and want to please her by marrying her, but then they both realize that it was the wrong path and decide to continue with a healthier relationship, resuming their friendship. However, Kyuubei is in love with Tae.
It's a good start. Nevertheless, of the three characters in her love triangle, I feel that she was noticeably the least developed (I talked about Tae and Kondou previously), often feeling like a mere satellite character to Tae. Kyuubei is where she is and does what she does. Do we know what Kyuubei does in her free time when she's not with Tae? Train? And how much do we know about what she likes? Tae and train again? Do we know if she works?
Regarding the latter, it would make sense for her not to work because she’s part of an aristocratic samurai family. This is a very interesting point, except for the fact that it’s never used for anything in the series, when she could’ve been crucial on more than one occasion. Let’s remember that the duty of the Yagyuu family is to serve the Bakufu and the Shogun. She could’ve been involved in several political arcs, however, her connections were only used for her to take care of a little monkey once. And she couldn't even keep the monkey!
This would’ve also served to give more substance to her relationship with Kondou, beyond loving the same woman, and develop her relationship with Zura, beyond his envy for believing they’ve the same character traits. Because I feel like, instead of exploring her ideals, Kyuubei's character was limited to jokes about wanting a penis, being embarrassed to wear feminine clothing, or throwing away any man who touches her.
The most important development she has after her introduction is in Dekobokko (or gender bend) arc. Here Kyuubei declares that she’s neither a man nor a woman. However, later in Silver Soul arc, Sorachi decided to address the topic of gender once again, establishing that Kyuubei does, in fact, perceive herself as a woman (which is why I refer to her as she in this post). And while there's nothing wrong with exploring gender and you're certainly allowed to change your mind, it was a shame to lose one of the few non-binary characters in media.
#TL;DR: I really like Kyuubei but I feel like she’d a lot of potential that was never used#And it was cool to have a non-binary character while it lasted#Gintama#Yagyuu Kyuubei#I can write#Thoughts about#my post
