Flufftober Day 8- Rainy Day

Grabbing Hyrule’s hand, Wild yanks him along as they run through the rain-slicked grass. They share a glance and a grin before jumping into one of the larger puddles together. Water splashes and, joined by the rain, for an instant it’s nothing but warm liquid and the sound of laughter. Then Hyrule slips on the mud under the water and, still holding onto Wild, goes down. The champion is yanked after him, landing fully in the puddle. He yanks himself up and shakes, sending wet hair flying. Then he glances at Hyrule. The traveler took the brunt of the puddle on his face, along with a fair bit of mud. Wild snorts, then breaks into peals of laughter at the sight. “You are so dirty!” “You—” Hyrule doesn’t have a good insult, but his grin is more akin to one of a villain as he scoops a handful of mud. It nails Wild in the middle of his chest. Askance, the champion stares at the mud on his tunic, then back to Hyrule. The traveler freezes, laughter dying as he waits to see if he went too far. Wild throws himself on top of Hyrule and they go down in another splash. Having the upper hand, the champion scoops mud and smears it on Hyrule. “No! No! Not the face!” Wild gets a nice streak across the traveler's brow. Hyrule retaliates with a muddy handprint on his cheek. They roll in the mud, finally landing in the grass, soaking wet and dirty. Time is going to have a fit when he sees them.

Figured I'd make a post since I just reached some personal milestones on Ao3! (Hope that's okay)

Anyways, at just over 100,000 words, a little under 24,000 hits (half of which are Blood Drops On Roses) and an even 1000 comments in my inbox (of which about half are replies to my own ramblings on others' works XD), I just wanted to say thank you to all of you for being such a lovely, supportive, interactive community.

I've been lurking in the Linked Universe fandom for about 5 years now, but I never felt confident enough (or had the means) to actually start posting my own works until last fall, and even less to interact with the community (thanks @unexpectedstormy for getting me onto Tumblr in the first place XD). So, I just wanted to say thank you to so many of you (especially @breannasfluff and @majorproblems77) for helping me come out of my shell and start interacting more with this fandom. You're all such kind people for entertaining my ramblings and questions and such.

(Additionally, thanks to @wanderlustmagician and @somer-writes for being such lovely fellow writers and creators that allow me to bounce ideas off of them. Also thank you to all the regular commentors and readers that I don't think I have the space to tag here. From what I’ve seen so far from people, I love how everyone enables each other to create stuff. I’m also obsessed with the sheer number of amazing artists and writers in this fandom, and I love the brave souls who post LU content on tiktok. There’s so little of it but I love whenever it comes on my fyp :)

5. something you see in fics a lot and love

Any time Wars and Legend are being extremely petty to each other in the back. Like, they are NOT the focus of the fic, the story is NOT about them, they’re just in the back being petty

12. compliment someone else in your fandom

@breannasfluff I LOVE YOUR FICS SO DEARLY, you’re and amazing author, they were some of the first LU fics I ever read and were part of what encouraged me to start posting my own writing :)

1-how diverse everyone’s headcanons are. There’s so much variety and I love (almost) every bit!

2-the art. There’s so much pretty art out there. So so much art. All of it amazing.

3-the people. There are so many amazing people in this fandom. And I’m lucky enough to call some of them friends.

2) A headcanon you weren't sure about at first but have come to like!:

This one is actually kind of hard. I can’t think of any. I typically either like a headcanon or I don’t. So I’m going to step to the side of this question and say that there are some loz characterizations of characters that I wasn’t sure about and have come to adore. LU Legend and LU Four were both pretty low on my teir list when I first came into the fandom, but they’re now up by the top.

12) Compliment someone else in your fandom:

Well @breannasfluff for one. She’s an amazing artist and writer. And has built a little mini community that is so fun. @frulleboi is another. Love the crazy little blorbos in Linked Maze and the love put into that comic.

I could go on, there’s so many amazing people in this fandom, but I’m going to cut it at 2.

Dark Deity

Finally done! this has been sitting on my drafts for who knows how long, wanted to post this a long time ago but I'm glad that i finished it in time

Some time ago I said I had a design for Dark Deity in works, it's not too different and doesn't have so many changes, but I wanted for it to catch that feeling of danger

This is a gift for @breannasfluff and her series Eldritch Adventures! She's a fantastic writer and this series has been one of my favorites, I know she worked hard on it so i wanted to give something that compensates that! I might be able to read the last chapter until night, but before that I want to say that I'm so proud of her for getting this far, she deserves so much love!

💡 How many wips do I have? Five! 😳

🔮 Any advice for writers working through burnout or writer's block? Heh, I don't think I'm one to ask about that. I haven't been writing very long, and my own burnout/block comes and goes in waves. Usually reading favorite fanfics helps me get back into a rhythm, at least a bit. Remembering the things I wanted to work on and daydreaming about them helps a lot, too.

📚 Is there a fic/fic writer you recommend? I have 21 fic writers and 60 fics I'm subscribed to. Some of my favorite fics to go back to are We shall rise again, But first they must catch you and just about any LU Whump fic (I definitely have a preference, LOL). As for writers, @alicewritingstories , @skyward-floored, @polynomialpandemic and @breannasfluff are just a handful of my favorites whose writing I keep rereading

🔍Does anyone beta read or edit my fics? Not particularly. Sometimes my husband will read them before I publish, but usually it's just me obsessively rereading for errors and clarity LOL

🍬 ⇢ post an unpopular opinion about a popular fandom character

Okay, so this may not be an unpopular head canon, per se, but it’s one I’ve been seeing less and less over time. And I don't manage to read every fic that passes through this fandom, though I sure try, so feel free to let me know if my analysis is wrong.

I feel like, in the older days of Linked Universe, THoT was a lot more---stoic? just across the board in fic. He was the no-nonsense leader that was often a bit abrasive when it came to how he interacted with the others (as one might claim he is in canon). One thing I've noticed (broad generalization incoming) with Time is that there is a split, now, in how he is characterized. Often, when he is a background character, he remains that stoic leader. However, when he's more of a main focus in a fic (and often Warrior is involved), writers make him a lot more immature, for multiple reasons including that he was raised in a community of children, his internal age is off due to timeline crap, he's just only like 25 and the Chain are a bunch of teenagers that look up to him because he's an "adult", etc. Now, I LOVE both (in fact, I would suggest @breannasfluff Wing Bois AU for the characterization of Time being a main character and yet more of that stoic leader, nevertheless one that still has a carefree side and can still mess up, and I would suggest @wanderlustmagician 's Everything But Blood (Modern AU) of Time being more of an uncertain leader (dad XD) off the top of my head if anyone is looking for fic recs).

That being said, I just love writing stoic Time, especially when he's in the spotlight as opposed to the background. Because a lot of writers are right, he does have all of these influences that, despite the Horrors he's gone through, would make him more childlike---so what has happened to his psyche, that those factors have been so negated, and he's the serious leader that he is today?

So, to conclude, I don't really have an "unpopular" opinion about him, I don't think---there's just a split, and I lean one way rather than the other. That being said, I love both versions of THoT, serious and silly, and he deserves them both so much <3
