WRITER’S FORUM  FREELANCE WRITERS
WEBSITES HELPFUL TO WRITERS This is a series of posts which, I think, will be beneficial to writers. But first, I would like to include my usual warning about using websites. Whenever you check a website you are, in my opinion and I talk from experience, being put on a list for sale. So, expect the possibility of being bombarded by ads from companies you, perhaps, have never heard of and have…

God is More Interested in Your Heart than Your Finances...
God is More Interested in Your Heart than Your Finances…
Tax season, yay! Said no business owner like myself. I don’t know about you, but I personally have never been excited about doing my taxes ever since being self-employed. I swear I feel so blessed not to have to use math in my career as a barber, but when it comes to tax season, numbers are all I see as I carefully add up all expenses and subtract from my income until I finally find out how much…

Tues. July 7, 2020: Die For Tourist Dollars Day 50: My Neighbors are Pyros (though not professionals)
Tuesday, July 7, 2020 Waning Moon Pluto Retrograde Saturn Retrograde Jupiter Retrograde Mercury Retrograde Neptune Retrograde Foggy and humid
The past few days have been hell, because of dumbass “neighbors” setting off illegal fireworks all the time.
They’ve gone off every night since the beginning of the month. And every weekend since the Stay at Home. It needs to stop.
When it’s someone local,…

Sales Tax IDs: Who Knew?
Sales Tax IDs: Who Knew?
So I’ve been busy. Like super busy. Super hella busy.
You get the idea.
But all this craziness is, in no small part, due to my life as a writer. I’ve got some stuff I can go into and some I can’t but today we’re going to focus on something so far out of left field that my brain came to a grinding halt when I learned about it.
That’s right folks, we’re going to talk about the IRS. As delightful…

Once again I have made the annual pilgrimage to Noosa, Queensland, Australia. And like every year I spent my time walking along the ocean, swimming in the surf and absorbing copious amounts of vitamin D. I also did a test drive for my DSLR camera – which was super fun. The best photos will be uploaded to EyeEm and Flickr soon.
But while I returned to Brisbane with my body and mind relaxed, that was quickly shattered by the fact I have to study.
Being an accountant by day, I have to ensure I’m “Keeping up with the Taxes” by doing post graduate study. Currently I’m undertaking an Advanced Tax course from the Tax Institute Australia.
This, of course, takes up the majority of my brainpower, leaving only a little left after for my own pursuits. I haven’t even been able to kickstart my new year’s goals because I honestly don’t have the mental energy left over after studying to operate beyond my ancient monkey brain functions of eating, sleeping and banging two rocks together.
Because of this, all my writing projects are on standby until my course is over, with exception of a short Christmas Reylo fic I wrote a few weeks ago, which is on this blog as well. After the 28th of January (exam day), it will be full steam ahead finishing “Vessel” as I break down my beta reader’s report in detail and run over the manuscript with a fine toothed comb. I will also endeavor to keep these updates going, as well as being more active with my photography on EyeEm and Flickr.
So wish me all the best in studying my GST, FBT and a lot of other abbreviations ending with T (which almost always stands for TAX). I’m off to see 1917, so if I can get those two last brain cells to get moving, I might even post a review, considering I’ve seen nearly every war movie under the sun.
May the Force be with you,
Lisa
