Imagine this, friends... (this is positive stuff!) While we're all sad about Chuckie T, he's probably out there laughing at all of us! Wrestled for 21 years with some of the best! He got to make friends, travel the world and leave so many memories and a huge legacy in-ring! That part is not up for debate. Anyone who puts their life on the line and does anything in a ring or outside of one, leaves a legacy that will be remembered! One that will forever be cherished and remembered for the goat he is! Chuck is probably out here happy for all of the memories he made and excited for this new journey he'll travel on next! He still gets to hang with his best friends! We still might see appearances of him with Orange or other friends even! He'll soon get to help produce the bangers we'll see and he'll get to help coach new & old wrestlers to become the best like he is and always will be! Think of the in-ring career as a pause, not a finish. He's just taking a break from it and doing other fun, incredible things! :) Chuck Taylor's not done yet. This isn't a "Dustin Checks Out". This is Kentucky Gentleman Chuck Taylor, continuing his legacy in the world of wrestling! <3

Something discussions about Yuta's character often ignore is that a lot of his actions stem from self-preservation.

He sought the BCC because he wanted to be a better wrestler, he understood it was either step up or get left behind. (He even said it in his recent interview with Mark Hoke.)

It's easy to see his hesitance yesterday as a telegraphed turn, or as him not being a killer, but I think that ignores his injury history. He probably doesn't want to cripple anybody because he fears that kind of retaliation.

Yuta shouldn't give a fuck about Chuck anymore, not when he blamed Chuck for everything bad that ever happened to him, but I don't think it's about Chuck.

It's about the neck, the head, the tingling extremities, the dizziness.

The head/neck injury is something Yuta shared with Bryan, something Bryan showed a lot of worry over once he got cleared. I think even Mox mentioned the injury in a promo (Mox's belief that Bryan turned Yuta soft is most likely about this, btw.)

And it's war, you see, and not only is he aware that the other side will catch up, he's expecting it. That's the entire point of Mox's crusade. The tensions with Claudio and Mox don't help him, he's expected to maim, to kill, to do to others what could easily be done to him and he doesn't know where the fire will come from first.

He likes the violence, he has no problem hurting people, but he's traumatized over a horrible injury and the people he chose to stay with continue to inflict that type of injury on people he used to be close with.

I am sure I've talked about this on here before but I hate hate hate how in academia generally and my field in particular there's just a baseline, often unspoken assumption that you should always be ready and able and willing to uproot your entire life to pursue jobs and opportunities. like if I were in any other occupation "I live in one of the biggest metro areas in the US and would like to stay here at least long enough that my spouse can finish their degree program, but I would not be opposed to settling here long-term" would be a reasonable and completely non-insane thing to say. and yet I feel like the actual options in my field are so narrow for me even in a metro area of something like 18 million people and I worry that inevitably I'm going to disappoint people if I do prioritize staying here after graduation instead of moving to Massachuyorkland for a postdoc/visiting professorship/whatever

as a wrestling and kpop fan I feel obligated to talk about this

the song strong machine j is dancing to is perfect night by le sserafim, a kpop girl group. here's a side by side comparison with a fancam of miyawaki sakura, one of the members. she is legitimately called kami (god) by her japanese fanbase which tells you a lot on what you need to know about her popularity. he was probably paying homage to her as a fellow japanese.

however, the plot thickens. here's another video of a wrestler:

sakura, although now an extremely popular kpop idol promoting in korea, has had several side quests in life. she started as a member of hkt48 at just 14, an idol group under the main group akb48 which quite literally has hundreds of members. they run on an "election" system, where the general public gets to vote for their favorite members and the most popular members generally get more opportunities/performances/merch/etc. so to stand out, she had to take some liberties whether it be pretending to be extremely shit at jump roping or have comically bad running form to garner laughs.

it's important to realize that japanese idols are seen more as entertainers rather than performers. rather than focusing their energy on perfecting their singing and dancing, they're more like a jack of all trades working more toward making their audience feel energized.

the clip of sakura wrestling is actually from a drama akb48 broadcasted called tofu pro wrestling where sakura inherits her dad's tofu shop only to find out she could only pay back the debt he left behind if she won a wrestling championship. so not only did sakura, but SEVERAL other members under the akb48 umbrella learn puroresu and perform in front of a live audience. great stuff.

she then goes on to become one of the most popular members of the group and travels to korea in 2018 for an idol competition show called produce 48, which brought together members of akb48 and korean kpop trainees who would be voted into a temporary girl group.

sakura, who was extremely popular before even going on the show, was voted into the final group called iz*one. (there was voting manipulation but sakura would've been in the final group regardless so I won't go into that.)

as an iz*one member she gains a massive korean fanbase while simultaneously maintaining her japanese fans. once iz*one's contract ended in 2021 and disbanded, sakura decided to stay in korea and would later join le sserafim in 2022 where she is now promoting.

all that and she's only 25! I've barely grazed the tip of the iceberg that is sakura's career, but it's honestly a treat whenever i find out about some batshit crazy stuff she's done in her decade-long career.

miyawaki sakura, one of the most popular celebrities in japan, was once a wrestler! something to think about whenever you listen to iz*one/le sserafim.
