The shamefully unironic Ironic Powerpoint is complete! Time for a proper show intro!
And it wouldn't be a new show account if I didn't make a meme about Rhys.

Humor
Created By Petunia Petals Humor is mankind's greatest weapon Mark twain https://weeklyprompts.com/2023/02/15/weekly-prompts-wednesday-challenge-humor/ Weekly Prompts Weekend Challenge Humor
What is humor?
Humor is a quality of communication, behavior, or entertainment that is intended to be funny, amusing, or entertaining. It often involves making light of a situation, exaggerating or distorting reality, or presenting something in a surprising or unexpected way. Humor can be expressed through a variety of mediums, such as jokes, stories, sarcasm, irony, wordplay, and physical gestures or expressions. It can serve many purposes, including social bonding, stress relief, and emotional regulation. Humor is subjective and what one person finds funny may not be amusing to another. What do you call a psychic midget that escaped from prison? Small, Medium at LARGE Now that is what I like to call humorous! Humor

As I continue writing WPWC I've decided what I really wanna do is write a Girl Show (love WPWC but it's a whole McDonald's play place of boys [not literally, but we don't meet any recurring women until s2]).
I'm thinking slice-of-life apocalypse, following a group of teens from a girls' school, a newly-wed couple and their cat, a single-mum trying to find her kids, and a nurse-in-training trying her best to look after her one remaining patient.
But 1950s gothic horror is also (mostly) a Girl Show, so who knows. Let's see what's up when I finish WPWC.
Audio drama tumblr, please share your wisdom with me
*after @wpwcpod, of course. This is for waaay in the future, I'm just curious about what people like.
Gothic daylight-horror set in the 1950s English countryside. Ann and her mother spend the summer with her so-called "crazy" uncle. With objects appearing and disappearing in the house, a man missing from the village, and a masked assailant stalking the property, it's all Ann can do not to go a little crazy herself. (This is not an 'ooh, is he mentally ill or are there ghosts?' fake out. This is a ghost story and also this dude experiences hallucinations. The hallucinations don't bother him, the two are unrelated).
Modern-day tragi-comedy. 21 year old accountant Chris' plans to commit suicide keep getting interrupted by their family. First it's the anniversary of their dad's death, then they're the sole person entrusted with the knowledge that their (formerly engaged) older brother is gay, someone has to help their little sister write her university application and it isn't going to be mum. All the while, Chris updates a maybe-fictitious, maybe-culpable vlog-style audience about their plans and their mental state.
Literally what it says on the tin. A very faithful modern day adaptation of Jekyll and Hyde but with Very Explicit Yearning from Utterson. Despite being called a homophobe the first time I tried to do this (I added lesbians. That did not go down well. I have zero regrets) I do have a degree in gothic lit, so I know what I'm about, son.
#I use Girl Show very loosely here I just mean I wanna write about more women#I don't like when there are no women#WPWC is 1. a happy accident and 2. cast mostly with my good friends I just happened to be hanging out with at the time#it's fun but it's sooo unserious#I wanna be slightly more serious

New gay as fuck heist show!
We’re still in the process of liking and following so we don’t show up as a bot, but part of that is making posts so: hey! Podcast summary!
‘Wrong Place, Wrong Crime’ is a supernatural heist podcast about a trio of thieves: hacker Isaac, con-artist Drystan, and strategist Bea.
Once prolific thieves in order to pay their way through university, Isaac and Drystan took two years out of the game for Drystan to have “just a small mental breakdown.” Now they’re back at it with a very casual heist on one of North America’s most secure museums. For jewels? Weapons? Art? Nope. For puppets. Obviously.
But, as with all their heists, there’s something a little… creepy about the loot they end up with. It’s a race against the clock to find out what - or who - they’ve actually stolen. Unfortunately, they don’t know the clock is ticking…
Isaac is an anxious, insular disaster who couldn’t identify an emotion if you showed him a kid’s cartoon, but can harbour a crush for 12+ years.
Drystan is a gorgeous and competent homme fatale who can kick ass, pick locks, and throw knives, but who cannot make pasta, regulate his own emotions, or input his own TikTok password.
Bea could be an international drug dealer or could work for Doctors Without Borders. Or neither. Or both. They’ve master the mystique Isaac wishes he had, but that doesn’t necessarily mean they’re any more on top of things.
Season 1 will be very short (4 eps!) which means you can expect it sooner rather than later (preferably this side of the summer solstice!), with the intention of S2 following closely behind.

“If I were an extremely pretty socialite in my early 20s there’s no way I’d mess up my chance at a romantic relationship with a kind, anxious, dedicated man who was infatuated with me.” - Drystan Morgan, delusional queen
#wpwc#wrong place wrong crime#of COURSE his favourite book is dorian gray#it's extremely enjoyable to me that drystan is a big big nerd#but also an absolute academic flop#his dad had to bribe a college to let him in bc he didn't have enough gcses#not that he didnt have high enough grades#he literally passed 3 classes#and 2 of them were english#isaac on the other hand is a legitimate genius you just dont notice bc he hates talking#and bea went to medical school... they think

Trying to figure out just how famous/well-known Drystan would have been as a drag queen.
Because the Narrative Implications really need to be taken into account from ep 1.
He was a pretty, pretty boy with excellent makeup skills, expensive/well-made clothes and wigs, and a good sense of humour. He's very agile/flexible, which probably translated to great lip-sync numbers. He's always on tiktok/instagram.
But he's terrible with technology, so would rely on looking hot rather than making well-edited/popular videos. In fact, he was so obsessed with looking hot it probably bordered on Dennis Reynolds-esque mania at times which would noooot make him popular (outside of Drag Race, lol). While he performed regularly I doubt he made it to any competitions, for mental health reasons. And while he did drag for almost 4 years he hasn't done it for almost 3 by the time the show starts.
And everything aside, sometime I don't even (immediately) recognise the drag queens I know personally out of drag 😅
#wpwc#wrong place wrong crime#idk just thinking about it really#all my love to the team but they're not exactly intimately familiar with any modern drag scenes

I know AD fandoms hugely skew to the US, but please tell me someone gets the reference from this poster-sketch?
Catch me making a halloween special just so I can make a reference literally no one else in the world understands.

Can I ask, if it's not a spoiler or anything, how drystan is welsh and from the west country? (also what is the west country)
Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry 😭 it's basically just the south west of the UK - literally the west of the country, lol. It's a pretty huge chunk of land and ranges from cities to seaside towns, but it's generally characterised as being quite rural and farm-y.
And now I shall tell you the absolute saga of how Drystan ended up with a West Country accent!
So without telling you everything about Rhys (Drystan's VA), basically half his family is from East London, half are from Wales, and he was raised part way between West London and the West Country. The result is a very-hard-to-pin-down London accent with a trace of Welsh if you know what you're listening for.
I wanted to find a way to reflect this in Drystan's family history (in the same way Isaac's from west-central Scotland and Bea did their undergrad in Germany), so I figured if Drystan was born in Wales to Welsh parents, moved to Somerset as a toddler, then moved to London at 11 he'd probably have a mostly-London accent with a very light West Country twang, and a select few words he unknowingly said in a Welsh accent. This would give Rhys the chance to have a bit of fun with it without having to study a whole new dialect and maintain a hella specific accent for hours at a time.
But before I could explain this Rhys basically went "Woah, West Country! Cool! I'll go learn the accent!"
So now Drystan just has a strong West Country accent I guess through spite? Which tracks, tbh

Andrea 🥺
Babygirl, she's so special to me 😭
Drys' full name is Drystan Andreas, middle name chosen fairly randomly because I think it's a nice name, but I saw my opportunity and I took it. There's something so drag about taking the very masculine name your conservative parents gave you and using the feminised version of it in your performance art.
I'd love, at some point in the show (if it lasts that long, god speed) for Drystan to get back into drag. I think it would be fun to write, I think it would be a nice healing arc for Drys, and I hope it would be fun to perform.
I also think there's nothing more bisexual than Isaac helping the boy he likes dress up like a girl and then going 'man, she's still so hot, wish she was my girlfriend' (and like, it's drag, Drys isn't trying to pass as a woman, but he's a curvy boy with long hair and makeup it's hard not to).
#rhys and andrew are in such serious things#even if theyre not always the most serious people in the serious things#and i just want them to have the stupidest time#ollie's fine ik they'd be so down for an audio drag show#wpwc

I'm glad (but also, more generally, so extremely disappointed) what's in there works. Research ain't shit if no one connects with the way you portray it.
I thought I'd been pretty heavy-handed, but apparently no 😅 in s2 we begin the uphill battle of trying to drop hot knowledge about characters who don't talk as much as January (aka. 'come on y'all, he's still the "villain", there is No Way he's the only fat person here').
But in the meantime January can just continue to be the prettiest, prettiest boy. It makes Rhys very happy and little bit embarrassed, and the embarrassment is unavoidable but I do so want him to be happy.
Upping my Sk8er Boi game for s2
#the genre makes any kind of character descriptions frustratingly hard i do not think anyone except Noah would every describe anything about#any other character#“sitcom” makes it so much easier (looking at you WPWC#like isaac can just go 'if bears are extinct in scotland then WHAT AM I'#and everyones like thank you for your scottish wisdom#january certified not whimsical enough but like how was i to know that 1. rhys and 2. he'd be Like That (compliment))
