Did or does anything inspire your art? It’s so fun and unique

I do have artists (both Established and like Peers/Mutuals) I enjoy and I do pluck traits from art I like as I see fit to mold my own but I don't have any conscious inspiration ykwim...ive had ppl tell me my art looks like or reminds them of things i like, whether "vibe based" (stuffed animals) or a specific media (care bears) but i dont consciously draw inspiration from care bears ykwim... I could tell u i loved archie comics as a kid and i love the art style but thats not a good answer to the question bc it doesnt present itself in my work (and if it does its not on purpose) ykwim...i hope dis makes sense.

I always bring up Urasawa when this question comes up, like I love urasawa's art and often save lots of it for inspiration but my work doesnt really ever come out as an emulation of his as a result, it's more osmosed as I try to figure out how I want to draw, bc I haven't seen anyone who draws the way I'd like to yet. (Also using him as an example, as this is how I feel about all my other "inspirations").

Theres tons of different ways to draw every possible trait of a face or body etc, so I just do that, taking shapes and such from other artists i observe along the way without really picking up the influence (and if i do its never for very long), since I've yet to find anything im very happy with

“Arisu! Arisu! Arisu!” you shouted as it caught you his attention. You were constantly getting all overly jumpy as you grabbed his hand.

It caught his attention when you ran into your guys’ classic date, unlike you saw none of other than Sanrio merchandise from the store.

“Sanrio? And you want—”

“Can I have this plushy?” as you take a Cinnamoroll plushy from your hands as you’re overly stimuli. You were smiling like a little girl, while your boyfriend really wants you to be happy.

“Okay… just one or two?”

Then you quickly grabbed another Cinnamoroll merch as you place it on your boyfriend’s head; he wears a jumpy hats that moves its ears, as you were pressing the palms as it moves and even made a squeak. “How about this!” you said so energetic.

He was laughing so cutesy as you touch his squishy face, “You’re more cuter in this!” you said.

“Alright, let me pay it.”

At least, he was employed and got the amount of money for that, seeing you excited really adores you so much to love you. In fact, he now knows you were easily attached to Cinnamoroll merchandise, he could really give you something for your birthday or anniversary.

Is absolute surprise when you wanted a collection of frog figurines, “Wow, babe, you wanna get these or how about those one with the funny looking faces?”

He is supportive of you and wants to get you something, while you were very overly excited like a little kid. Your boyfriend would be laughing his own shit of how adorable you are.

He could really picture you with your obsession with frogs, or he’ll call you froppy all day. “Okay, is there anything left you want?”

Now, you’re wearing a sweater, weird glasses, the hat, and figurines: all of them are frogs.

“Is it too much?”

“Nah, I’ll pay for it.”

Yep, he is wasted but he’ll get the amount of money he needs for himself, including you.

Somehow, you just felt honestly guilty of it. But he doesn’t consider it’s your fault, he just loves you so much that you’re more extra happy to get this collection of frogs in your room.

Oh boy… your boyfriend got a back pain afterwards, considering he had to carry this whole ass books you’re buying. Makes him want to workout just because of this, you were just so excited with reading like he never expected of you to be such a bookworm.

He finally dropped the books down on the floor, then you came hugging him with such cute aggression. “I love you so much!”

“Okay!” as you squeeze your boyfriend tight, “I love you… but you’re squeezing me tight!”

Your boyfriend look at you in surprise of your reaction, you show him your origami and you gave him it.

“A swan?”

“Yes! I also made more! Even I made a paper star!” as you were giggling over your obsession with origami.

He would be hugging you and thanked you. Somehow, he comes to your room as he watches you folding up the paper, even he wants to learn from you and even your obsession makes you extremely excited.

You were smiling as you made an origami flower crown onto his head, your boyfriend smiles, “You’re so sweet.”

At your casual date, you guys were walking by and saw a claw machine full of plushies.

He caught your eyes of excitement as he watches you placing your hands on the barriers, “What do you want from there? Darling?”

“Can I get the Aggretsuko plushy?” as you smile at him. He heavily sigh and fixing up his glasses, just to see the plushy you were looking at. Your boyfriend is very careful in getting it, as he begin to get the one you needed; it caught from the claw as it drops.

He got you the Aggretsuko plushy and said, “Here, you go my dear.”

And you took it out of excitement, your boyfriend slowly smiles as he didn’t expected of you to act very energetic, holding in the plushy and kiss your cheek afterwards.

Well, I’m gonna say here, a celebrity as your boyfriend. Yeah, you would be getting spoiled as you were overly excited, and that you wanted a newly expensive car for yourself.

He did in fact see you in this state, you jumping around as you look over some cars, then lastly you pick the one you got. Sold for the expensive car, now you got the car keys as you laughed happily.

“Just for you, my love.”

“Thank you, baby!” as you were energetic to ride on a car.

“Okay, let’s move!”

As you drive the car in the high speed, while your boyfriend was having a time with you, “WOOHOO!!”

If you were overly excited about some hat, then your boyfriend would quickly give it to you or tried it, just to see your happiest and excites smile across your face.

Clearly, matching up your guys’ energy and the excitement between you two. “I love this hat!”

“You wanna try it on?”

As you giggled and he laughed with you, placing his hands on your face. “Beautiful.”

“I wanna try another!”

Your boyfriend settle you with another as you were smiling, then he smiled at you as you both look at the mirror. “Hmm… maybe another?”

Isn’t much to bother by your over excitement on things like those charm bracelets. Seems likely you act like a kid as such as you’re addicted into making one, your boyfriend doesn’t mind it.

You were too energetic that he doesn’t care how much you like making charm bracelets. You even gave him one as he considers wearing it, you were giggling with a smile as your boyfriend slowly smiles.

Honestly, the most adorable thing he saw in you was that you can’t control how overly excited you look. He just really can’t stop laughing at the sight of you.

Moments later, you were sleeping at his side while he was checking from his phone, looking through what you wanted just by zooming in the photo.

From the other day, you met up with him at the rooftop in the hospital. He was turning to you with a smile, “Sorry, if you’re very busy, you didn’t have to met me up here.”

“Actually, it’s my break time,” he said, “I was gonna give you something but please stop jumping up and down.”

As he goes closer to you with a smile, then make a magic trick as he said, “What’s that in your ear?” as your boyfriend showed you, your favourite ring. “Tada!!”

You were gasping in excitement, you couldn’t control as you smile. But you lost it as you become all jumpy, “There she is, can’t stop jumping up and down.”

Then he put on the ring for you as you were giggling in excitement, like you can’t stop moving so much as you hugged him. Your boyfriend was laughing as he caressed your back, “What a ray of sunshine you are.”

He was just constantly looking at you at your own excited self, as you can’t control over your obsession with cats. Well, your boyfriend just sighs as you put a cat hand band on him.

That doesn’t matter, you seem weirder as he is, good match. You were smiling at him as he doesn’t know how to react to that energetic self, he heavily sigh and he slightly smiles at you. “Nyah! Nyah!” as you were playing with him, flapping the cat ears.

He rolled his eyes as he tried to be more fitting to what you said, then he just move his hands so weirdly to you. While you just clapped and smiles, “Nyah! Nyah!”

As he repeats what you said and you laughed. Your boyfriend suddenly smiles at you.

You were smiling so much.

As he appears to be not interested, “You mean that little shit is gonna shit at our house? Baby? I’m not taking care of it.”

Yet, the boyfriend of the year comes at the best and at the worst. You poured at him, “Why?”

“Do I have to repeat myself? I’m not taking care of that shit.”

You slowly gotten silent and frown as you put back the puppy. But you just smile anyways, “It’s fine, at least I know it’s hard to take care of it.”

As you walked away, leaving him soften gaze at you at the moment, he felt such an asshole. The time he first saw you so happy and overly excited, he would’ve been teasing you but now what will he do?

He doesn’t know what to deal with it, rather looking down at the puppy you just choose as he sighs, “Fuck…” as he picked up the puppy into his hands. Looking at him in the eyes while he stick out his tongue, “Buying a dog, my ass,” he said.

As he saw you getting in the car, then he turned back to the puppy, “Whatever, you’re gonna make her happy and don’t even fucking disappointed me,” he told to the puppy, instead he lick his nose. “Ugh! You’re even worse.”

Just the other day, when you were at the couch in silent; a puppy passes by to you as he came running to you with an excitement. “Eh?! Puppy?!”

Your smile suddenly went back as you laughed. Your boyfriend was behind you as he grips the back of the couch, he leans into your ear, “I gift for you.”

As you squeak and he was laughing at you, leaning on the couch with a smile. “You’re as cuter as that puppy you wanted… so energetic… overly excited, I really don’t want to shattered that smile of yours.”

He sighs and jump over as he sat down beside you, “I give up on not feeling it, I do owe a sincere apology for being such an asshole, I never meant to make you feel less love.”

As you lay your head towards his shoulder with excitement in your eyes, making him roll his eyes. “Stop being so noisy, you’re really making me want to regret adopting that puppy.”

“No!” as you poke his face gently.

“Babe, stop that!” he shouted, slapping your hand away.

As the puppy goes to him, “Hmm?” as you watches his little tail going to him. Your boyfriend seems to be surprise then he realized and laughs dryly at you, until he for real was laughing with you.

“Come back!” as you clapped at the puppy but he yawns on your boyfriend’s lap. Your boyfriend caressed the puppy as he cockily grins and chuckled. “You jackass, what are you laughing at?”

“I guess he knows his place and who’s he belong to, sorry babydoll.”

“Goddamn you, Niragi!”

“Love you babe!”

He laughs at you.

Afterwards, you were clinging into him as you were very excited. He sighs at that and you wearing a knitted sweater and a hat, “Very lovely.”

If you’re overly excited with his collection of knives. Oh man, he would smiling so much as well as he is more obsessive of you, your boyfriend showing his finest knives.

You would be giggling and smiling, he really is loving you so dearly, rather too much. Despite he is cold and psychotic at much, your boyfriend hadn’t had anyone like you who really admires him so much, like one of his knives.

“What’s this type of knife?” as you smiled in excitement.

“Oh, they call it a ballisong in other words,” as he was flipping the handle and revealed the blade, “it’s a butterfly knife.”

He handed you the butterfly knife as you tried to open it, “Careful, puppy, you wouldn’t cut off your paws,” as he laughs. You’ve tried to turn it around and well it gives you a little cut, but you landed it anyways as you finally opened the blade.

To any case, your boyfriend would’ve gave you the knife as a gift. You would just be so obsessed in turning the knife in and out, “Do you like it?”

“Hmm… hm!”

He laughs and pats your head, wrapping his hand around your shoulder, just as you two were close and kissed you. You laughed while looking at the butterfly knife from your hand. “I love just as much as I love your knife,” you said.

“I love you just as much as I love my knife too,” he chuckles.

Then you laughed and you guys both laughed.

Okay I accidentally got the flambé insanity out of my system on my enstars spam Instagram but I’m still gonna scream about ibayuzu bc I NEED TO….

Listen, I may say things about how awful they are for each other and like ‘lol ibayuzu is their bad ending’ because I love me some toxic yaoi, but hear me out: nah it’s not actually all that toxic OR bad for them, they just need to SIT DOWN AND COMMUNICATE WITHOUT THE DRAMATICS AND THE CONSTANT TRYING TO ONE UP EACH OTHER which is probably not gonna happen because they both love the dramatics and one upping each other too much

Now here’s why: pretty much the ONLY TIME we see Yuzuru get to be himself is when he’s talking to Ibara. Can you imagine how much of a relief it must be to him that FINALLY he can drop the act and SNAP at this Guy? Knowing that a) he can take it because he’s actively encouraged it and is already well aware of exactly how ruthless Yuzuru is capable of being and b) it’s not going to ruin his reputation or leak his background to any fans or higher ups because Ibara needs to keep their history just as secret at Yuzuru. Ibara is so so important to Yuzuru because as much as he can complain about how much he despises him…. He’s not even ALLOWED to express open distaste for anyone else- this is the one person he can be a bitch towards without fear or without having to cover up the bitchiness with feigned niceties (and Yuzuru is such a bitch at heart xoxo)

And now for Ibara. Yuzuru is one of the only people he can ALWAYS trust. He knows Yuzuru’s past, he knows Yuzuru’s mindset better than anyone else and he KNOWS he’s the only one who’s aware of how Yuzuru really feels and works, which gives him the comfort of knowing that Yuzuru isn’t gonna betray him. Yuzuru has nothing to gain from screwing him over and ruining his life or anything else. Sure he’s a thorn in his side when it comes to his sneaky tricks and schemes, but when it comes to being able to breathe freely and not have to battle every day of his life, afraid that everyone around him is just waiting for the opportunity to tear him down and send him right back into the battlefield, he knows that Yuzuru is safe. And I think he’s aware enough by now that Yuzuru does genuinely care about him- favourite pupil privileges and all that.

So basically, Flambé sent me insane because of the amount of mentions about their joint past and the way they instantly retort back to anything the other says. Yuzuru snarkily saying that Ibara must struggle to give gifts because he doesn’t care about anyone else (I smell resentment from the past. Why are you so convinced of that, Yuzuru? You know Ibara just wanted a safe haven- upset that wasn’t you? Upset he chose Nagisa over you???? Upset that he doesn’t care about you like you care about him??????????). We also have Ibara scheming in his own mind and WATCHING for Yuzuru’s reaction. Because Yuzuru doesn’t say anything. We just get a sprite of him narrowing his eyes. And suddenly Ibara’s like ‘haha he noticed! Just as I expected hehe! Can’t get away with anything with Yuzuru around!’… Ibara why are you watching? Why are you waiting and hoping he thwarts you????? (Lmao Perry and Doofenshmirtz ass dynamic) Ibara you don’t need to pretend to be evil just to get Yuzuru to stop you so you have an excuse to enjoy being an idol….. I mean, Yuzuru sees through it and is gonna enable that for you anyway but THERE WAS NO NEED I PROMISE!!

Ugh they make me insane. Read Flambé, y’all!!! It’s also one of my fave Rinne stories because I love love love when an all out over the top dramatic character gets to show a more subdued side and drop the mask for a bit- especially around a specific person (rinniki nation winning) (wow weird thing for the notorious wataei freak to comment on)

There was a period last year where everyone had to learn rap, usually🐂 learned the fastest but he was absent-minded that time🐂 was looking at us eating delicious food while resting, it seems that he is thinking his rap, he seemed to be even more tired. At this time, staff handed over the phone and he left immediately to pick it up.

He called him, and when he came back he didn't have any special expression, but he felt refreshed.

XZ: I am also a part-time praise captain. Every time I praise,None of them are the same.He can often keep up with the facts.

XZ: I always hurt him by saying, "No, you don't even know this joke, so WYB doesn't go online?" Just. very good. Laughing, every time I feel hurt, I secretly say "He is better than me. WYB has been craving for "cai cai rice" recently, XZ told him many times that spring is not so good to have wild vegetables, even if they are cooked. WYB said he doesn’t care about wild vegetables he just wants to eat the vegetable rice cooked by XZ, but I don’t have that. It smells good, I just want to eat it.

In the end, he still didn’t get the cabbage meal, but freshly baked dumplings. WYB got a bargain and acted nice, he was acting coquettishly while eating.

Ok so listen I have been willing and ready to call out the snapedom for racism, specifically for its anti blackness, which they have demonstrated quite a few times, but this is....

I gave a little look at the original poster’s blog (automatically knew who you were talking about lmao) so I could see what you were referring to and oh wow!

So apparently op was listing her marauder era headcanons (she is very vocally against the marauders and their fans so unsurprisingly the hcs were negative), in this list she said that Mary Macdonald was like a servant to Lily in their relationship dynamic, like she was her house elf. Certain marauder fans took issue with this and said that comparing a “black woman” to a slave is problematic (also I find it funny that they used aave while criticizing this apparent racism, I’m so tired). Then it seems like everyone lost their natural minds and just forgot how to act.

So here’s my thing: Op is apart of the snapedom and has very little ties to the marauder fandom (outside of attacking them) and has said that they, along with a lot of people who don’t run in marauders fanon circles, don’t even headcanon Mary as black, in fact she was relevantly unaware of this headcanon. This is not hard for me to believe at all. If marauders stans look outside their bubble for one sec they would realize that literally no one else in the wider hp fandom cares about Mary Macdonald. She is profoundly irrelevant to the plot, is only mentioned twice and has no actual lines. Many do not see her as a black woman. So op making a comment on how she views her relationship with Lily as servile does not carry any racial undertones because this character is not black to her or to her fandom. (I also want to point out that Mary being black is a relatively new thing, and op has stated that her Spanish hp fandom has only portrayed her as white, which also isn’t difficult to believe.)

So to take this statement and attribute racial malice to it is not only illogical but a stunning admission of self-importance.

People do not have to share your headcanons, if a headcanon is popular within your fandom space that doesn’t mean others outside of that space will be aware of it. People also do not have to change the way they construct character dynamics in their head to make it less problematic due to your own personal headcanon.

I think my biggest issue with this is that it’s once again an example of people using fandom as performative activism. Op was already deeply disliked by these people and they used this situation to malign her even further, while patting themselves on the back for “standing up against racism”. I really, really do not appreciate my people’s struggle, especially as it relates to fucking slavery to be used in a little game of moral superiority fandom wars. This is not about racism, using your brain for two seconds would tell you that this comment should not have blown up this way, this was about dunking on a fandom villain and using racism as the justification. And it genuinely pisses me off.

I’m really asking people to just stop for a second and reevaluate why you react the way you do when it comes to fandom issues. Would you really have thought this comment was offensive after using a bit of logic? Or were you not able to use logic in that moment as you just read a whole list of inflammatory headcanons against your faves? Next time could you stop for a moment and take a step back from the screen before you bring up real world issues to criticize the blogger you don’t like? Would you be able to interrogate your intentions if you do end up making these claims? If you interrogate your intentions, and they come up petty, would you be able and willing to recognize if your comment is then tone deaf? Would you do any one of these things instead of what happened here?

City of Starlight

“Action!” 

“Get these cameras rolling!” We moved like chess pieces upon the board, our roles crucial to everyone around us. 

“Miss Estelle, bring in that seductive energy.” I smirked, shooting a glance at my newest co-star, Martin Woodvine, winking at him flirtatiously. He and I were starring in a new flick, a fantastical romance set in Hollywood itself. I was the young starlet, a hopeless romantic and Martin was the mythical fairy prince from a world beyond. He sure looked the part without any enhancements. His platinum hair flowed down his back in waves, a little below the shoulders. His eyes, a piercing amber haunted anyone who saw him on the street. On camera, his hair shimmered like starlight, white as snow. He defied traditional masculinity, but since he was absolutely beautiful, he suffered no consequences, like the unfortunate ones did. I began the scene for the camera, melting into a character that was not so far off from myself. 

“Oh Rhys, you charm me.” Martin laughed, moving closer to me, placing his dainty hand along my waist. 

“How can you refuse me? How can you refuse such power?” I twirled my loose brown hair, biting my lip. 

“I can never. Now kiss me, Rhysand. Kiss me now. I beg of you.” Out of the corner of my eye, I saw the director smile. I was doing the scene perfectly. “Kiss me.” Martin pressed his soft lips against mine, engulfing me into a passionate kiss. He pulled away from me. 

“How would you like to be my queen?” he asked me, his voice dripping with sweet and dastardly desire. 

“You have to win me over first.” 

“Playing hard to get? I see. I will win you over. I have your name, Irene. You gave your true name to one of the fae. What a dastardly thing to do.” Martin chuckled darkly, his eyes moving up and down my body in a lustful gaze. 

“I suppose you’re right,” I replied with a cheeky tone. “You’ve won.” The director gestured for us to move into another kiss and we followed each direction effortlessly, ending the scene with our lips moving against each other, a kiss of tongue and cheek in front of the Hollywood sign. 

“And cut!” yelled the director. The cameras clicked off and the lights went back to normal. “Miss Estelle! That was brilliant! You will wow the entire country at the premiere!” I blushed and glanced down shyly. It still took getting used to, receiving all these compliments like this. I was raised all the way in New England and no one expected me to star in a few hit films. It was the 40s, and women like me were not always allowed to make it big. 

“Thank you,” I replied. “I couldn’t have done it without Martin.” 

“That is true in lieu of the film, but your talent is raw. My, you are our next starlet! Three of our films have featured you previously, and everyone adores you!” The director moved over to Martin. “You did so well, Martin. Rumors swirl that you are mythical, not just in acting. If you are, then you have stunned the entire nation with your beauty, charm, and talent.” Martin smiled, his eyes blazing with pride. 

“Why thank you,” he responded confidently. 

“You both are free to go. We will give you a call if you are needed for a retake. We have every scene finished.” I nodded politely. 

“It has been a pleasure working on this film with you. If I am not called back, I will see you at the premiere.” Martin joined me as we walked out of the recording studio at Paramount. The blazing California sun blinded us; our sunglasses were our saviors. The Santa Ana winds whipped through the horizon, warm and dangerous. 

“Ice cream is on me. Come with me tonight?” Martin asked in his sultry voice. 

“Of course,” I said. He opened the door to his sleek car for me, with all the chivalry I could ever ask for. I prayed to God each night that he would ask me out and give me the starstruck romance I had dreamed of since I first watched the films of my childhood. It was only a matter of time, I was sure of it. Martin slid into the driver’s seat and ignited the engine. He lived in a manor on Sunset Boulevard, from what I had gathered. I had never been, but it was probably more extravagant than my little abode. I was a rising star, unlike him, who had captivated Hollywood like a siren luring sailors to sea.

“Now, what ice cream would you like?” he asked me. 

“A chocolate malt. My favorite.” He extended his graceful hand, his skin glimmering porcelain in the sun. His fingers wrapped around mine as he gently guided me from the car. 

“Oh my goodness! Is that…? It is! It’s Martin Woodvine!” A gaggle of girls gawked and swooned as the paparazzi flashed their cameras. 

“Who is he with?” one of the girls murmured. 

“It’s Miss Estelle Houghton! Oh my gosh! It’s her!” My face went hot. I was still disoriented from the cameras that often followed me around. I was so private back home. Shy and reserved, lost in a book or a world of my own. My sisters thought I would become a writer in New York, but I surprised them. Perhaps I will still write later on. I do have a few ideas after all. Martin and I ducked into the ice cream parlor, attempting to ditch the crowd. 

“How may I help you two today… Holy smokes! It’s Martin Woodvine! We will serve you, no cost at all.” Martin smiled, too charming in a way. 

“Thank you,” he said smoothly. For a moment, his eyes seemed to be glowing a golden hue. Why would they be glowing? I shook off the thought of it all, taking my seat next to him. “Miss Estelle will have a chocolate malt. I will have a caramel swirl.” 

“Of course, Mr. Woodvine. I will do just that for you.” Within minutes, the server brought the ice cream. 

“I wonder what the papers will say about us,” I said quietly to Martin. 

“That we’re dating I assume. I wanted to ask you something. Would you be willing to attend the premiere with me?” I grinned, a little too eagerly before reeling myself back in. 

“Yes!” I took a bite of my ice cream, savoring the flavor as the icy texture chilled my mouth. 

“The premiere is in a few weeks.”

“Yes, I know. Before that picture from Sunset Studios gets released.”

“Which one is that again?” 

“The one about the two rivals who are fighting over a viscountess. I believe it’s called The Italian or something like that.”

“Oh! Starring Tom Hammerstien as Count Amadeu von Devilus and Fabio M. Alessandro as Baron Silvo!” Martin exclaimed! “I am friends with both of them. Wonderful men, I should say!” I giggled. 

“Both of them are so attractive. Aren’t they actually fighting in reality over the woman who’s playing the Viscountess?” 

“Yes, they are. Fabio is the one who's the angriest. Those Italians.” 

“Well they’re both good actors. I just hope that things don’t get too out of hand.”

“It would be a shame if something happened to one of them. Now, how is your malt?” 

“Delicious. How’s your swirl?” 

“Scrumptious.” We spent the rest of our time together making small talk as we ignored the photographers the best we could. I just had a feeling that the papers would say we’re dating. It wasn’t official yet but him asking me to go with him to the premiere along with a little ice cream date was a very good sign. Once he drove me back to the studio to retrieve my car, I headed home, my mind reeling. So much had happened in the past few hours. 

“Dear God, if you are listening, please let me have a romance with Martin. I think I love him. Amen.” I only had to wait.    

“I look stunning,” I told myself as I posed in front of the mirror in my deep green evening gown. Tonight was the premiere and Martin was supposed to be here any minute. What if he said he loved me? I twirled in front of the mirror and smiled brightly. My jewels glimmered along my pale skin. The doorbell rang. “Martin!” I dashed down the stairs and threw open the door. 

“Why hello,” he said seductively. “Are you ready, darling?” I tried not to gasp. He had called me darling, which likely meant he would confess this evening. 

“Let me put on my shoes and grab my purse, then I will be ready,” I managed to reply. “Come in if you wish. I know it isn’t the best abode, but I do find it charming.” Martin came in and sat down in one of the loveseats. I went back upstairs, slipped on my shoes, and grabbed my golden clutch purse. Martin gasped as I emerged at the staircase, gliding down, my dress trailing behind me. 

“Stunning,” he gaped, “absolutely stunning.” He stood up and extended his right hand. “Come with me, darling. To the premiere.” I took his hand and we slowly got into his car, his black Cadillac. My heart hammered in my chest, pulsing with passion and nerves. Martin pulled up to the Chinese Theater, the cameras flashing wildly. He opened the door and got out. 

“It’s Martin Woodvine!” the crowd cheered. 

“It’s him!!” a young teen swooned. “What a heartthrob!” The teen’s friends giggled and joined her, pointing and whispering. 

“It’s Miss Estelle Houghton!” Men catcalled me as I emerged from the passenger seat. I searched for familiar faces in the crowd. Tom Hammerstien and Fabio M. Alessandro were there, supporting us all. Next to them was Katrina Gussman, the woman playing the Viscountess. She smiled at me, her dark hair blowing ethereally in the Santa Ana winds. She slowly glided over to me, her dark crimson gown contrasting her snowy skin. 

“Miss Estelle,” she told me, “congratulations. I have also heard the rumors about you and Martin. Good luck, I hope he confesses. I mean, look at him. He’s gushing at you.” 

“I hope tonight’s the night. Which man are you leaning towards?” Katrina chuckled. 

“I don’t know. I like them both, but I know I must choose one. Tom is so humorous and his laugh is contagious. But, Fabio is a dreamy Italian man who makes my heart race. If only I could choose them both!” 

“If only.”

“Estelle,” Martin called.

“I have to go. Perhaps we will chat again.” Katrina waved goodbye and stood next to Tom and Fabio. The cameras clicked and the white blinded me. Martin shook hands with directors, and then he flinched, trying not to yelp. 

“My ring is iron,” the man told him. “You yelped. Did it burn you?” Martin played a mythical being in City of Starlight, our movie, but he couldn’t actually be one of the fae. Right? 

“I cut myself,” Martin said. “Your ring needs mending.” There was no cut on his hand, but rather a small welt. “So sorry for my rudeness. I apologize.” 

“Good luck, Mr. Woodvine, you’ll need it.” 

“Your hand,” I told Martin. 

“I know,” he replied. “After the premiere, I must confess something.”

“Confess?” 

“Yes, now come on. The film will begin promptly.” 

The film flickered across the screen, Martin and I’s voices filling the theater. I watched myself recite my lines in awe. This was me? I had improved immensely from my first film, and that was something to be proud of. Martin grasped my hand. A chill shot down my spine. “After the premiere, we run away from the crowds,” he whispered. “In front of the Hollywood sign.” In front of the sign, like in the film? I knew that show business was often all an act, things not how they seemed to be, but a meeting in front of the sign just like in the film playing on screen blended fiction with reality. 

“What happened to your hand?” I asked him. “That doesn't look like a cut.” 

“The ring did burn me,” he replied. “I should have worn gloves tonight.” There it was again, the strange glow in his eyes. Martin was not who he said he was, and it allured me. “Let’s duck out now. The credits are rolling. There is a back exit.” He and I snuck out like two lovesick teenagers, darting behind the theater. “Follow me.” His car was nearby, which puzzled me, since he parked near the front of the theater. “Get in, darling.” I complied. 

We drove up close to the hill with the sign and he led me out onto the mountaintop. “I have something I need to confess. I love you. I always have. When we met on our first day, I was stricken by your beauty. Your charm radiates through your body. No, I do not just value your appearance. I couldn't care less. What I love most about you is your talent, your kind heart, and your romantic essence. I read one of the poems you wrote tonight. Have you ever thought about publishing them? You have bewitched me, and it is quite hard to do so to someone like myself. Underneath this starlit sky, I confess my love. I may happen to be exactly who you’re looking for. Not everything is as it seems here in Hollywood.” 

“You…You love me?” I gasped. “You love me? What do you mean about nothing being as it seems?” 

“That ring burned me because it’s iron. I am one of the faeries after all. The film did not have me stray too far from myself. My name is not Martin. I changed it to fit in with the mortals. The name is Thorne, King of the Faeries. Well, at least my kingdom, the Court of Starlight.” Martin began to change before my eyes. His ears grew pointy, his fingernails pointed and long. His eyes turned more golden and his hair glittered like the stars above. He looked almost human, but unnaturally beautiful at the same time. “Would you still love me and possibly be my queen?” 

“Yes, how can I refuse your offer?” I said genuinely and without hesitation. “Do you still want me to call you Martin or would you rather me call you your true name?” 

“Either is fine.” 

“I love you, Thorne. I love you incandescently. I always will.” Thorne cupped my cheek and pulled me close, kissing me deeply. It felt real, no facade of theatrics involved. “I love you,” I said in a breathless gasp. “I love you, I love you.” 

“My love for you is as constant as the stars above us and it always will be.” We kissed once more, cameras flashing around us, our night under the stars, our love confessed, surrendering to the power of desire.

QueenBastet - Sadly, we lost this amazing author this year. She will always be on my rec list. She really had a way with writing the Puzzle boys that I absolutely loved.

Resuri - If you didn't know, I a huge fan of @resuri-art lol. It doesn't matter if it's art or fics...I love it all!

atlas_x - If you like smut, look no further than Atlas lol. I am addicted to their smutfics. Infected is a zombie apocolypse au, less on the smut side, and only a few chapters, but still worth looking at.

It's in my bio. I'm a tumblr old. > 37. I've now been to two "real" concerts in my life (I've seen musical artists performing at conventions, and they were awesome, just not "officially" concerts?) A few years back I saw Weird Al at this awesome little venue, it was his originals-only tour, so not a huge stage show, just the fun songs for the "real" fans ;)

Monday, though. I drove to Boston. In and of itself... a lot. And I got myself to Fenway Park, actually my first time visiting, despite having gone to a lot of baseball games as a kid. (I was raised by a Yankees fan and had a cousin who somehow liked the Mets, so I only went to NY?)

And I got to see Hozier. It was a heckuva time getting tickets- I'm not cut out for all of that, so it wasn't the best seat ever, but I was in the shade for the majority of the daylight hours, so I'll take it.

I'll warn you, I'm mostly posting this because my memory is crap, and I want someplace I can go back to and help remember :) So no comment on photo quality? :)

De Selby Pt 1 is incomplete, I started about halfway through to be sure I could record all of Pt 2 for her.

Followed by Francesca, and I'm frankly shocked I wasn't in tears for this. One of my favorites off U/U.

I had actually sought out a live version of It Will Come Back already, and it did not disappoint, wow.

Too Sweet, which don't get me wrong is a great song, but I'm always surprised at what makes it mainstream.

Someone New, which was very fun to hear live with everyone helping in the chorus :D

Almost (Sweet Music), lots of his band and backup vocalists.

As an aside that's not just a setlist, he called out his folks/introduced them multiple times to us, and knew all the main contributors (lighting, sound mixing, camera persons, etc) by name, it was very cool to see.

Movement, which inspired a lot of warm swaying from the crowd :D (It was so stupid warm. Damned heat dome thing)

Then, in what felt like the finale, Take Me To Church. He was actually playing the music video on the lefthand side of the onstage screen behind the band. That was the loudest crowd I'd ever heard/participated in singing "Amen" with, and probably the safest I'd ever feel in one. This one got me crying, and it was amazing.

Sorry for the extremely blurry shot, but he draped a pride flag over the mic stand and everyone left the stage, with a spotlight remaining on this, while he travelled through the crowds to a smaller stage nearer the infield!

There he asked our help for Cherry Wine, which... you're risking more inappropriate proposals, no?

And then to bring us closer to that coldest level of Hell, that we really could've used, tbh, Unknown/Nth (and the band/other vocalists came back onstage to help with this) and I definitely cried for this one.

Then we received an entreaty to exercise our democratic voices, care about our community, the LGBTQ+ community, especially our Trans siblings, to raise our voices for a ceasefire and safety for Palestine, to fight back against growing casual racism... Hearing every new thought greeted by such applause from such a huge crowd was incredible. And then we got a fantasically backed Nina Cried Power (Which I want to find someone's video for, as the visuals were good.

And our actual final song of the night, with Gigi Perez out to sing as well, was Work Song, and absolutely beautiful.

It closed with a shower of rainbow fireworks, which I got horrid pictures of mainly because I was just enjoying being there and finally pulled my phone out :-D

And as the crowd was leaving (I stayed behind 'cause I knew I'd get dizzy going down those steps in a huge crowd), everyone got to sing along to Sweet Caroline, which I obviously know as a Sox tradition, but to me was just another nice moment, as my mom only attended her first proper concert also only after reaching 40, and it was Neil Diamond himself :) (not "the" Hot August Nights as in the recordings, but an August concert in the early 90s)

This pic was from earlier in the night, but just to sum it up. I definitely think I'm too old for this sort of thing- the ticket buying process, getting to and from the stadium, this huge close crowd, esp in this ridiculous heat. But I'm so glad I did it, that I just took what I got for a ticket just so I could be there. Hozier is the one artist that I've been able to just make a playlist solely of his music to have in the bg- it's literally my reading playlist for monthly book club, for my library books, anytime I need something for noise. I associate a few of his songs with the Dark Tower for no reason other than that's what I was listening to while Roland & Cuthbert were arguing? :-D

So, if you happened to read all this, thanks. If you don't know me, and you're considering something like this for the first time, know your own limits, but I managed. I didn't need even half of the "just in case" stuff I brought with me in my little clear stadium approved bag, but I'm glad I had bandaids and my inhaler and tampons and- well okay, I did use the spray sunscreen quite frequently, and am pleased to say got zero color/burn even from sitting out for hours even partially shaded. Water was like $7-9 at Fenway though, so budget for that :-P

aghhh i mean it would be outrageous if i didn’t mention yamqn by @wildernessuntothemselves . genuinely i think this fic might’ve played the biggest role in motivating ME to start writing. flawless plot, incredibly well-developed characters, sickeningly good smut, and also has a really good spinoff series! i’m also super excited for now see them burn in fire, which is currently in the works but a super dark fic for anyone interested!

this answer is another really obvious one but i can’t help it i’m part of the hive mind: @koqabear has some incredible dark fics. i’ve read pretty much her entire masterlist before i even made an account, but even since then i’ve gone back to reread several fics 😭 i’m so wildly excited for the psycho rich gyu drabble she’s working on right now like i foam at the mouth at the mention of it.

i loveeee angst… @niningtori has incredible angst fics, i really love an iron man—have i ever mentioned my love for android aus lol? ack i just loved gyu’s character there. violets are blue had me clutching my heart feeling like i was about to die bruh like… no but seriously i adore her writing style. the delivery of angst through blunt descriptions and frantic dialogue WHEW that’s how you do it!

@dawngyu has been proving herself time and time again to be suchhhh a strong angst writer. i’ve already raved about the archive and the slow surrender on this account, but those are seriously some staple angst fics of hers that i highly recommend. she’s got such a talent for putting you in a scene and making sure you feel each ounce of the character’s feelings. and my favorite thing to tell her is that she is a genius when it comes to making creative and interesting concepts. i could say a lot about raya, but her works can do all the talking for me. you will be SEATED once you start reading

@beomie3 has a lot of good ones that i come back to a lot. i love how she incorporates fluff and smut in 2am, its so hot and cute and ugh i love it. fangs is ridiculously sexy and im due for a rereading of that whew is it getting hot in here?

aight so for context a few months ago while deep in the trenches of my greek mythology obsession i made a minor underworld diety oc who goes by kore or jazzy. shes my favourite muffin and i love her.

and after reading one too many apollo fics here lmao i really wanted to explore his domains (which i find endlessly fascinating bc its all my favourite things in one: medicine art literature) and learn more about him as a god via a character study of sorts.

(ive yet to write anything for them lol but when i do it will be great :P)

apollo has heterochromia :3 dunno if u can see it but his eyes are olive green (right) and a teal (left). representing the suns reach over land and sea. ALSO FRECKLES >:D

my girl jazzy has the most boring brown eyes ever. no pools of honey or flecks of gold. just good ol dirt brown. *foreshadowing*

jazzy is a biomed graduate and is currently pursuing a masters in forensic toxicology (sucks that i hade organic chem this would be fun to write) so she teaches bio. probably part time idk.

To answer your question, the reason why Ben asks to find a way to commit suicide is because Ben does suffer from depression in the comics, a lot of it has to do with his powers/how he was transformed, basically he got the worst of the lot, and he has a lot of negative self image issues, he feels dehumanized a lot, and at some point doesn't see the point in going on. One of Ben's major recurring character themes is how dehumanized he feels, how Reed's guilt over what happened to Ben will never let Reed rest until he finds a cure for his best friend, of Ben's resentment to Reed, but also the fact that he loves Reed as a friend and so its very complex in that he hates and loves. That's for like the main comics, but I do think the you're asking about the Ultimate comic since you mentioned his conversation with Johnny? Ben had gotten to the point where he felt like Reed wasn't trying anymore and he feels like he has no way out. The Ultimates line isn't the 616, it was supposed to be a "more grounded" comic so they emphasized on self harm thoughts in this comic.

My opinion on the 616 Ben Grimm is that I love him, he's a great character, very fun to read and very heartbreaking when it gets heavy. I feel like Ben is the heart of the team, and he has to deal with his self image issues a lot, and a lot of his mental health issues are about his body dysmorphia/how he feels he looks ugly and thinks he is unlovable. His arcs usually run on a cycle where he comes to a point where he accepts who he is just enough to be able to go out and save the day or live his life, but then eventually falls back into a depression, it really depends on which writer has him, some just want him to have a good time, but others bring back his issues/the angst etc. Sometimes Ben does get his human form back but it never lasts.

Ben's past movie portrayals were ok, I guess? I'm not quite the expert in all F4 stuff, but like typical movie stuff you'd except from the eras they were made in with very little to no effort to be inclusive of Ben's Jewish background, but I'm glad he finally has a Jewish actor to play him in the upcoming movie since the character is Jewish and only one movie made a reference to that Fant4stic I think with a background prop, but the actor of that movie wasn't Jewish iirc. Hopefully the new upcoming movie does well by his characterization.

I really love Namor and Ben in the comics and I sorta wish we could get something like their characterization in the Fantastic Four novel: To Free Atlantis in which they connect over how they are viewed by others. Ben is shocked to learn that Namor is hated for his physical appearance because he's a handsome prince, not knowing that under the sea, Namor is despised for being half human, so he thought Namor would have it easier than a Thing like him, and Namor points out how lucky Ben is to be surrounded by love.

Ben and Namor don't really have heart to hearts in the comics, they are mostly fighting, but sometimes we get cute gems like Ben and Namor at T'Challa's bachelor party

And you all have been so supportive and sweet despite my weirdness so I thank you for that. You helped me feel more confident in my otherwise weird fixation <3 So, for my birthday I thought I'd try and make up a little drawing challenge for anyone who wants to give it a try... There are soo many talented artists on this site (and in this fandom)

So... It's your turn to target your faves now. You will see how fun it is and hopefully understand why I love doing it so much. 😈🌡️

If you're in the RainCode community you can target anyone, but as you know, my main targets are Yuma and Makoto. If they're also your faves and who you decide to use, that will make me extra happy!

Some tips for anyone new to drawing a sick day scenario art. A few things that make it look convincing are the following:

Pajamas or Loungewear

Messy Bed Hair

Fever flushed face w sweat or at least a red nose

Tired Eye bags

Shivery body

Ice Pack or a Compress on the head

Thermometer sticking from their mouth

LOTS OF BLANKETS

Tissues or medicine surrounding them

Tea or Soup (or both)

Those are just to name some from the top of my head. If you'd like some pointers on how to make a character look ill, check out my Fever Coloring Guide. This is for digital artists but traditional artists can try it too!

You can add injury or angst to the scene but I'd like illness to be the main focus of it.

The scene can be anything you want to, it can be fluffy and wholesome (with a caretaker) it can be angsty, or it can be silly. Its all up to you! Do it for the sake of fluff! Caretaking scenes are the best for any kind of relationship >w<

Either way, have fun with it!! I look forward to see what people make if they decide to give it a try! It doesn't even have to be a full on picture! Doodles and sketches are fine too! Just show me something >w<

Sickfics are one of the biggest things I live for! Any little drabbles or full fics with more than one chapter are welcome! Just make a cute story about your fave being miserable and being tended to! Trust me, it's super fun!
