Proof of iloveartworks being a scammer can be seen/found here and here. The other accounts listed above all follow the same script and additional proof and can usually be found in the tags: #scam, #scams, or #scam alert.

IMPORTANT: Update as of 1/31/25 - They are now threatening law enforcement if you do not send them payment via the fake paypal email. This is a scare tactic. Please see that section once you get to it. Thank you.

Being open to commissions isn't uncommon if you're an artist.

You may often find yourself receiving messages from strangers looking to commission you for a picture of their OC or even their favorite ship.

But if you receive a message like this, you should be careful you don't fall into a scammers trap.

How it starts:

it starts by receiving a message from another user requesting a commission. Again, typical common practice if you're an artist.

What they ask for at the start, is usually the first red flag.

IMPORTANT 1/15/25: These scammers are now sending Asks and commenting on peoples posts asking 'are you open to commission? Send me a DM.' So please be aware of this as well!

🚩Red flag's (part 1)🚩

I want you to draw my son/daughter.

I want you to draw my son/daughter's pet.

It's a blank blog with no posts/reblogs

It's a blog that's only a few days/week old.

While this request seems simple enough, this scam gets worse.

Here are some recent examples of the dog they will request:

An offer too good to refuse:

Now you may be thinking, 'surely this can't be bad or malicious, right?' They just want you to draw a picture of their child or their child's pet! And that's definitely what the scammer wants you to think. Which is what brings us to the next set of red flags:

🚩Red flag's (part 2)🚩

'I will pay you $200-$500+' (an amount way way beyond your normal asking price.)

'I just want the best you can do.' (They don't know how to answer questions related to details such as pose, background, style, objects you want included, etc.)

'It's for their birthday/holiday' - ' I want it done as soon as possible.' (They will push that you do this with a sense of urgency so you don't ask questions.)

The Catch:

Now, if you haven't reported and blocked them by now, and you agree to take this persons commission, this is where the catch to this scam comes into play.

If you tell the scammer to send you an invoice, they will refuse.

If you tell them to use your preferred method, they will refuse.

Those methods just 'wont/don't work', you see.

What they really want, is your PayPal email and your name.

From here they will say that they sent you payment, and that you should check your email. Or that 'they got an email and something went wrong' and that you should check your email.

And here is where the scam comes to ahead.

They will send you a fake email meant to look like it came from PayPal that looks like the ones shown below:

This third image comes from @elrealelchunk on 1/31/25 and is very important. Scammers are now threatening law enforcement if you do not send them money.

Again as noted in the top of the post, this is 100% a scare tactic.

What this email means / How this scam works:

In the case of screenshot one (provided by @neogandw) the 'MONALISA' is the person who was trying to commission them.

The payment hasn't 'went through', and the e-mail (from 'fake PayPal') is saying that they, the artist, needs to send $200 to 'MONALISA' to 'expand the limit' of their account to get the $500 that is owed to them.

Read the e-mail and think about what you're being asked to do:

'You are to send (name) money to expand your account.' You are to send someone money, to get money.

If your account is limited, why would you need to send another PayPal user money to 'unlock' your account or 'expand it', and not just contact PayPal itself to try and resolve that issue...?

This is not how PayPal works, in any sense.

This is just a way for them to scam you.

There are also a handful of red flags in this email alone.

🚩Red flag's (part 3)🚩

The sender address is not from an official paypal.com address, but instead a gmail.com address. This means that this came from a person, not a company.

The formatting. Let's be frank, no official email from PayPal will ever look like this.

The spelling/grammar issues are everywhere.

Weird url's at the bottom of the email. (I removed them for safety reasons)

Additionally: You may also find or see links in this emails instructing you to 'go here' to unlock your account. These are phishing (wikipedia) links that they will use to steal your PayPal login information. Never click links in emails asking you to 'fix an issue' with your account unless you can verify who the sender is.

If you send these people your money, you will get blocked and never see them again. That's just how this scam goes...

Final thoughts:

If you fall for a scam like this, thankfully there still might be hope.

Contact PayPal and explain what happened in detail. Show them every shred of evidence that you have showing that you were scammed including the name of who scammed you, and the email that sent you the scam, and who you wound up sending the money to.

If you use the messaging system that uses the AI chat bot, ask it repeatedly to 'speak to a real person' until you get sent to a live agent. (this is stupidly frustrating but sadly it's what you have to do.)

And remember, take screenshots and report these users to the websites they are running these scams on. If they DM you on tumblr? Report the DM. If they do it on insta, bsky, twitter or even discord?

Make sure you report them there too.

ALSO: Beware of recovery scammers. This is anyone coming into your DM's telling you they can 'help you get your money back' after you made a post talking about how you got scammed. These scammers are just looking for a quick buck.

EMERGENCY COMMISSIONS

well, this is one way to do a cyber monday thing

anyone who follows me probably knows about the long nightmare saga of my vehicle. a couple of months ago the alternator went when i was out of town. rip savings. today a valve went leaking oil all over my brand new alternator and my mechanic advised me that if i didn't fix it it would end up taking out my alternator. i need my vehicle for work - and i'm not getting any more paychecks until january.

i would like to be able to pay my rent this christmas, so alongside me listing everything i can on facebook marketplace it is ALSO - emergency commission time! I'm offering:

CHARACTER ART - $35 USD

Do you have a character you want drawn? I can do that! Give me references and an idea of what you’d like with them and hey presto I will give you an art. Number of characters multiply the price - so two characters are 70 total.

Technical stuff:

Hello all! My commissions are being re-opened after my lil summer step-away! Thank you to everyone who has previously commissioned me or wants to commission me, you all mean the world to me and I'm so grateful! I had a super great break and am ready to get back to the grind! ~ ~ ~ Updated information for post break - I am officially using KO-FI's commission tab to keep track of how many slots I have for each type, as well as occasionally introduce a different style or so if I feel like it/come up with one. This is to make things easier for me in regards to tracking, and to make things more visible to you all so you know how busy or available I may be!

Prices may slightly vary depending on specific details, but that is something we can discuss in private. The prices shown are pretty solidly what I will charge!

PLEASE NOTE: I will not start work until payment is made.

The prices include the character + a simple background color/texture chosen by me unless otherwise requested by you. The group portraits will require a bit more in-depth discussion - such as if you don't want them just standing together and want them to be doing something as a group. That may change the price slightly depending on what they're up to. If you'd like to add a specific background, we can talk about that as well! I keep you very up to date through most of the process, and I have a few extra rounds of concept sketches prepared if needed for larger portraits.

Disclaimers: I have a very sketchy and not 100% clean art style, so please expect that in the finished product! I am absolutely down for not safe for work scenes or subjects like sex, violence, blood, etc - but obviously the more gross end of the spectrum I won't touch. That can be discussed in private! I am not very good at drawing mechs, cars, or animals, so while you can ask me to, I may deny it just to ensure you don't get a subpar final drawing.

Also, I work full time and am a wife and mother! I like to think I'm fast and incredibly attentive but just please be respectful that I may have to step away to take care of my family. I have to save drawing for after I am off work and when my child is asleep. Here is my usual schedule for doing commission work.

-PRICE: the price is calculated on the hours of work I put on it, and it already includes ALL taxes. (45 % of the amount goes up in taxes, my dudes). It is based on the amount of characters, details and background you ask for. The more complicated it is, the more time it takes, the more it costs. Please explain in your email what you would like and your budget and we will come up with a suitable price for both of us! Animations and comic strips need to be discussed as their price depends on the style chosen. Don’t worry if your budget is not much: just let me know and we can surely squeeze a drawing in there :)

-WHAT I NEED: photo references and information on what you want, the more the better. They don’t have to be super accurate! You can send ten photos and say: “I want this dress with this character with this other background etc.” You don’t know what you want? no problem! we can chat and discuss it!

-WHAT I WILL DRAW: I am comfortable drawing nsfw, most kinks, and animals of all kind, real and fantasy alike. I also draw every ship, so don’t be shy in asking! I won’t draw underage nsfw, non-con or dub-con, domestic violence etc. If you’re not sure, ask!

-WHAT FANDOMS? All of them. Just provide references and I’m good. Also, I’m a huge nerd, so there’s a 90% chance that I already know what you’re talking about. I draw OCs too!

-HOW TO PAY: via Bank transfer. After we agree on a price I will draw the sketch, and after the you have approved of the sketch I will send the invoice that you will need to pay. The invoice will contain all the info for the payment (it’s pretty easy to do online) and it’ll be in euros, and it will obviously be the amount we agreed on. I will then proceed with the rest of the drawing once I receive the payment.

-TIPS: If you wish to leave a tip, it’s greatly appreciated! However, the invoice has to match the exact amount of money I’ll be receiving, so if wanna tip you’ll have to tell me before I send the invoice! Again, a tip is not necessary nor will I be mad or offended if it’s not there. Sharing my art and signal boosting my commission masterpost or recommending me to others means a lot to me too and it’s a great way to help.

-HOW IT WILL WORK: I’ll send you the progress AT LEAST three times: the sketch, the lineart, and the base colors, so you can see them and ask me to change what you don’t like. Do not worry about offending me! The key to a good commission is communication! Also, I won’t be able to change stuff if you don’t tell me in time, so there’s that too ;)

-CAN I SHOW THE DRAWING TO THAT ACTOR? Sure, as long as it’s not nsfw! Please let me know if you do, I’m super curious to know what they said ;)

-DEADLINES: Please let me know if you have any deadlines you want respected. If you want it ready in less than 10 days there’s an extra 10$ fee. If you want it ready in less than 7 days there’s an extra 20$ fee. Also, if you ask for a deadline please try to reply to emails as promptly as you can manage.

-LIVESTREAMING: I might livestream the last phase of your commission (the coloring) on my Picarto.tv account, if the inspiration strikes and time is there. If you don´t want me to, please say so in advance, even tho I usually ask for permission before I do it.

I Need Help (Emergency Writing Commissions)

I hate asking for help, and I know a lot of my readers are minors and may not be able to.

My student loans haven't come in, and I've been picking up shifts whenever I can, but it's not enough. One of my roommates that I moved into a new place with left, and even though her name is on the lease, she didn't sign it so she's really not obligated to pay, from my understanding.

If I pay my normal rent amount, I will have less than $5 in my bank account to live off of for the next 2 weeks until my paycheck comes in.

I haven't even really been eating, I drink coffee to make it through a day and sleep off hunger when I can, I haven't been grocery shopping in almost 3 months.

My other roommate said she can get her parents to help with covering the additional cost, but obviously I don't want it to all fall to her as she's in a similar position.

I would ask my parents, but we are not on good terms at the moment.

I can't do much more than ask for help at this point.

*This is a "mystery stone" because I cannot find the name of it. It came from an older Russian miner who I had a language barrier situation with but he did confirm it's from Siberia. I wish I could find the name! It's shiny and almost metalic, reminding me a little bit of sphalerite. It's gorgeous.

These are the styles you can choose from (I do very minimalist wrapping so the stone really shines through! And the wrapping is super sturdy!)

Lineart: Only the lines of the drawing. Coloring any part with black will not change the price.

Flat Colors: Lineart with flat colors and only a few details (cheek color, sparkle in the eyes, shine in the hair)

Rendered: Complete illustration with colors, shading, lighting and lots of details!

Chibi: All chibi art will be fully colored, full body, and with some extra details.

Simple Character Design: Full body character (front only), with underwear and 1 more set of clothes! Comes with 3 different facial expressions of your choice.

YMH Touchstarved: I draw your Chibi MC with the LI(s) of your choice. The figure on the right is just a base, it can be changed according to the appearance of your character.

✦ Prices

The prices above are per character and background coloring (optional) only, if there are extras:

Extra character: 70% of the base price

Simple background: 10% ~ 30% of the base price

Complex details: 5% ~ 15% of the base price

✦ Size

Bust, Half body, Full body and Character Design: The base size is usually A5 (2039x2894, 350dpi), but it can be a little bigger or smaller, depending on the commission.

Chibi: about 900x800, but they can be bigger too.

✦ How do I commission you?

You should send an email to nena00comm@gmail.com, with the title "Commission - your @", for better email organization. The email should contain all the references you can send, such as: poses, images of the character, clothes, details you would like to see in the illustration, etc. The commission request should be made only by email. The final file will be sent as a response to the request.

⭕: Simple backgrounds, Original and non-original characters, Suggestive/NSFW (only if you are of legal age, please), Blood, Kemono, Monsters (not complex) and other debatable categories.

❌: Complex backgrounds, Mecha, Furry, Gore or anything that makes me uncomfortable.

If possible, I would like to receive 100% in advance. Otherwise, 50% of the amount must be sent after confirmation of the commission (after sketch process) and the other 50% before sending the complete illustration. The drawing can be modified only while it is in sketch mode and any changes that come after this process will be charged extra!

✦ Commission turn around time

I usually vary a lot in hours and days, so it will depend on the complexity of the commission. On average, simpler and less colored drawings can take between 7~15 days, while more complex ones can take between 15~25 days. Chibis, even colored and rendered, take about 7~10 days, but if it is very detailed there may be a greater variation in days.

✦ What do I need to know to commission you? - Any and all commissions will be made for personal use only, commercial use is prohibited! However, feel free to use it to make a personal product, something like: print, keychain, etc… And show me, please! - Even if the commission is your request, the art is entirely mine, that is: it is prohibited to claim the art as yours. - Feel free to repost the art on other social media, but please be sure to give me credit! - Any unpleasant request may be denied. - Even if the commission request is made only via email, the conversation about the progress should be done through other social media, just call me and let me know that you commissioned me. - Ideally, I would like to publish your commission to showcase my work. If it is too personal and/or NSFW, it is your choice whether to post it or not. - When the commission is posted publicly, a watermark will be inserted so that it cannot be used by others. - Please do not remove the signature from my illustration. - If you plan to use AI with my art to "improve" it, please do not contact me.

You describe the idea of the art in details, where it takes place, and other things that I need to know so that I can base the sketch on all that info, because after you approve the sketch, I don’t change art much in the further stages of the work, just some details. I send you the payment link on my Boosty page. Send you the sketch. After you confirm that you like the sketch, I finish the work and send it on your email😊

✨ OTHER: - I don’t correct the art after you approved the finished version. - I don’t copy other artist’s work. - I publish every commission on my social media, if you don’t want it to be published, just let me know. - If you’re not sure about the art idea, I can suggest you 4 sketches with different poses/concepts/angles for extra $20 and you pick the one you like the most. - For significant corrections or a lot of small ones at any stage of work, an additional fee may be charged (this doesn’t apply to some small adjustments or details witch I missed). There are 3 free changes at the each stages of the work (sketch, finished version), further - $2-$5.
